Wig Basics 101 - https://bit.ly/3sFqEQf

Hi guys so today i want to come on here and show you how i alter a hard front wig to make it look more realistic, all right. So i wanted to come on here and kind of just show you guys how i take a hard front wig, which, if you are new to wigs the difference between a hard front, wig and a lace front. Wig is literally that. So if you look at a lace front wig, when you get one, it's going to have this lace on it here around the hairline and that's going to make it look more realistic! It'S going to blend in with your hairline more so that you don't see this harsh line where your hairline should be, and it really blends in so with a hard front wig. The difference is that you have literally what it says this hard front. You don't have any lace and a lot of times so that they can make it look like a scalp. They put this rubber flesh, colored rubber here and that's what the hair is attached to and a lot of times. What happens is then they take it and it is folded over and tucked in here. So what happens? Is it has a really hard front hard line right here, so it doesn't blend as well. So there are a couple things that you can do to soften this hard front up on a wig and that's what i'm going to show you guys how to do. I have a wig here that i've done it with so i'll show you kind of like the end result here, so you can see really what we're trying to go for. If you look at everett right here, she has already been cut. So what we've done here? If you look is we have actually gone in unfolded this rubber piece and cut trimmed it so that it lays flatter and doesn't have such a big hump here and then we've also gone in, and we've kind of gone in and plucked this part to make. It look wider to make it look more realistic. That'S what we're gon na do. I have two wigs that i'm gon na show you kind of these steps with so one right here. We'Re gon na use her she's a hard front as well, and then the one that i was showing earlier that blonde curly one. So i can show you kind of the different steps on two different ways. Just so, you can see kind of what the steps are to do this and it's not hard. You are going to be taking some scissors to this wig. So keep that in mind. This is not something that you can stop once you start, you got ta finish. It so cut at your own risk. I will say that, but it's not difficult as long as you follow the steps like it really isn't difficult. So what you're gon na need for this is scissors. I recommend to like smaller scissors to get in a little bit closer, so i've got like literally eyelash cutting scissors, any type of small hair cutting shears. Anything like that. It works too and then you're going to want some tweezer flat tweezers, preferably with a flat end, because you're going to use these to pluck your parts. These are the three things that you need to do this, so nothing crazy. Most of the stuff. You should already have around your house anyway, so the first thing you want to do is take your wig and we're going to turn her. Oh, i lied. I'Ve gone so crazy on cutting these that i've actually already done this one. Whichever scissors, you feel most comfortable with i'm gon na go with smaller scissors to do this part - and you want to this - is where the scissors come in right away. I know it's scary, but you want to go in here and most of these wigs have this lace like material on here so you're going to have to right here where you see the seam, so you see the seam here and then you see the lace you Want to cut right there along that line, so we're disconnecting this lace here and essentially like making a pocket if that makes sense, all right, so i'm just going in here and i'm just opening this up. It'S the only thing with these little tiny baby scissors is they're, not as sharp so a lot of times. I just like to get it started, and then i grab my bigger scissors once i'm in there and there might be a couple layers and that's fine. You want to cut through those layers, so you really want to try to just cut that lace layer off. If you get lower, you might expose the hairs, which is what i just did, and i'm going to fix that it's fine, but you just want to try to just get that top lace layer off, and it's really just so. You can get to this part. Some of these have hair sticking into them and some don't now we're going to go ahead and right here on the end, we want to disconnect and detach this end of the seam right here, and this is where it gets scary. I'M sorry guys if you're scared, but you literally want to like poke it through to get it off of there, so that it's literally unfolded so now see how we've unfolded the seam. This is the rubber piece that they've folded over and sewn onto this wig. So you want to do it on the other side as well and you can just poke through because it is just the rubber. So now we've unfolded this wig, but this is the unfolded part. So this is what we're going to be cutting off. So now, if you flip this wig over, you now have this sticking out, which obviously you don't want this on your forehead, because that would just look terrible. So we're going to be cutting this off and you can just follow the hemline here and you are going to lose a little bit hair when you do this and that's totally fine we're going to go in and we're going to pluck after we do this. So don't be freaked out if you cut off a good amount of hair, because we're gon na lose any of this hair that has been sewn into the hem that, like that hem, so it's okay um! This is where it's like. You have to trust the process and it's a little scary, but the first time i did it. I freaked out a little bit and i did on a nice wig too, which was probably not the smartest i like. I should have started with like this wig. So, like look, we're gon na lose all this hair like this is all gon na come off, so don't freak out. It'S totally fine like i was literally panicking when i did this. I was like. Oh no. I did this wrong and then i'm like. Oh no wait. It makes sense like there was all this extra hair on here, so you just want to brush that off and get it out of there we're going to brush through this wig when we're done. So if you don't get it all, it's fine, but you just want to take it off, so you can really see like what you're working with. I just wanted to try to make that as straight as possible. So that's what we did here so now we can put the scissors down, and so now we have this much flatter. So it's going to sit on our head a lot flatter here and we can blend in our makeup a lot more with this as well, and now we're just going to take our tweezers we're going to make this part wider to make it look more realistic and We'Re going to pluck a little bit right here just to make this not such a harsh line anymore, because we do have this rubber flesh to work with. That is going to look like skin, so that works in our favor. We are going to grab the tweezers here and i always recommend getting some type of tweezers that have a flat end here. They don't even have to have a point on them at all um with this, it's not as serious because there isn't any lace for us to accidentally stab, but whenever you're plucking a lace wig up you can see. I have videos where i'm plucking lace, wigs and, i always like say be careful with the point because you don't want to stab a hole in your wig. But this is not as serious, but i just always try to use ones that have a flat, because you can get really close to this and we're literally now just gon na go in and we're gon na widen this on both sides. It'S okay to take a decent amount of hair out of here. It'S okay to mess this part up a little bit. It doesn't have to be completely straight. It doesn't have to have the same amount of hair plucked out of it in every like space. That'S what kind of makes it look more natural and then i always kind of go in right here at the front and widen it some more because i always like to have like that little triangle and, like i said you don't have to be as careful with These, as you do with the lace, so you can pull more hairs at a time just be careful because, like i always say, you cannot put the hair back, so you can always pluck more. You can never put it back on there. So just be careful when you're plucking and we're gon na bring this part back further, because we do have some more part space that we can work with, that they didn't use and the further back you can bring this part the more realistic it's going to look As well, because we all don't have our part - stop an inch away from our foreheads, the one nice thing about this, too, is if you can really get this to look nice and real. It almost sometimes will look more real than some lace. Wigs will because there isn't those lace knots that you see, because it's not transparent, it's actually like a rubber material which is kind of interesting. So some of these, when they have a really good rubber on them, especially if they really match your skin tone. They can look pretty awesome. So if you get a sharpie, that's similar to your skin tone and you can buy um a sharpie marker and go over the part here to make the scalp match and then we're just going to go right here along this edge that we cut and just make Sure that we get rid of these hairs that are folded over because that's going to look weird when we put that wig on if there's like hair sticking straight out, so we're just going in and we're just plucking this you don't want to do too much like. I said so just kind of every other couple hairs. I'M really focused on getting the hair. That is on the edge part. You want to make sure you've got that off there. So now that this looks like a hot mess we're going to brush this out. So you guys can really see what it looks like all right, so total in all. This is the hair that we have removed from this wig, and this is our final product here. So you can see we have this nice line here now. It lies much much much flatter on our head. We have this broken up here and we have a nice deep part, so i'm gon na throw her on. So you can see what she looks like on all right. So this is it and, as you can see - and i should have done it before so you could really tell. But if you look in here and you zoom in on this hairline, i mean super close up, you can see it and there's some more bronzing and blending. We could do to make this a little bit better. But overall, i have this one. It'S right here here. Overall, like huge huge difference like i wasn't wearing her anymore because as i've gotten nicer, wigs and nicer hairlines and have more of those really nice lace, front hairlines and i've gotten really good at plucking those. I kind of had this one sitting in a drawer and hadn't been wearing her, but i actually don't have a curly wig this thing and i'm i'm not mad at it. She doesn't have a name, though, so we have to name her, because all my wigs have names. This one needs a name. This one used the name too. So let me know what you guys think she makes me feel like a lion so back to where we were. This is literally it. This is all you have to do. It'S not hard, like i said it's just getting over the fear of taking scissors to your wig and like there's no turning back, so i hope this helps. You can apply this to any hard front, wig that you have, that has this rubber um situation going on and it will solve any problems where you have like a weird little bump on that hard front. So let me know what you guys think about this. In the comments, if there's any other wig ideas that you guys want to see, let me know i love making videos that you guys are actually asking for, because those are the videos that i would want to see. Heather Barber: Her idea is brilliant! Im in a situation where wigs are a necessity and after wearing the first one for the first time I almost decided no hair is better then fake hair, but after doing a bit of research on YouTube I've found my saving graces!... I took her advice and removed the folded rubber part of my first wig and I used Ashley Quitoz advice for making them even more natural looking with the baby hairs . Now every wig I wear look pretty much as real as my own hair! Thanks guys.

nothing new about me: Alot of people think it's weird I wear wigs but this latina don't care I like being creative thanks for sharing this video

Denise Sheets: This is so helpful. I bought a wig from Amazon and I love everything about it except that hard front. Going to give this a try! Thanks!

Melissa Malak: Omg! I love that you did this video! I’m looking to get my first wig because of CTE and I don’t want to look wiggy. I’ve watched a lot of videos for making wigs look more natural but this one is the best by far. Thank you .

Ann Woodard: WOW!! I'm new to the wig scene and at the moment I have a wig with the hard front now I know how to make it look better in the front. Thank You

anne marie conrod: Awesome, very detailed informative video! I have been looking for a way to fix a wig with not so natural hairline and now I’ve found it! Thank you pretty lady

S†UDIO66: You deserve SO many MORE subscribers, I love your editing style and you go straight into what you're discussing - amazing! Also, I'll very much be using this haha - thank you!!

Fil0Sofie: Thank you SO MUCH for this. I use wigs a lot for cosplay, which is a pretty pricey hobby in and of itself, so expensive lace front wigs aren't always an option for me. This way I can still make the less expensive hard front wigs look super pretty. ❤

MacEnte: Thank you soooo much for your wig tutorials! I got a pretty cheap hard front wig for a costume and will try this tomorrow. If i mess it up it will be just a great reason to try you bang-Tutorial :D Greetings from Germany <3

Julia Sanders: Thank you so much this is an amazing and decisive tutorial!

Debbie Unleashed 2.0: Losing all of my hair after having Covid (Telogen Effluvium). This was a great video for me since I am getting to the point where I most likely will be purchasing my first wig. Thank you. You're very cute and sweet too!

Jasmin Garten: I like the video and your approach "style" of creating the instructional videos for viewers. For me, i have struggled to keep up with majority of instructional videos on this feed. So, with saying that im confident in moving forward with my wig alterations. You are talented. Happy New year 2021 Thatnks hunxx

Santiago Andrade: I CANT EXPLAIN HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU FOR POSTING THIS VIDEO AND GIVING ME THIS HUGE ADVICE HOLY SHIT MY WIG LOOKS WAY MUCH AND SO MUCH BETTER HOLY SHIT!❤️❤️

pineapplebutterscotch: Your video was I bought these 2 hard front wigs off of amazon 4years ago when I was living with my mama. I held onto them for 4 years and because of your video I know what to do now thank you sm! ❤

Alfie Thompson: This is amazing wigs can get pricy especially lace wigs so I will definitely be using this for my drag wigs in the future

Rabid Vixen: Love this video! It makes the process seem so much less daunting. The only thing- I wish you had included adding baby hairs on the finished bit. I know, I know, I'm making it sound difficult when it probably REALLY isn't. The only way to find out Is just try, right? Thank you so much for the tips and help for someone new to wigs (which translates to a bunch of CHEAP ones!).

Ninaにな: Super informative and totally loved how you instruct the process However, my cheap wig that I bought on Wish wasn’t saveable. It’s got a weird lining and a layer very close to the center line and the hair of the wig doesn’t fall nicely to hide those bulky layersI even saw them to make them look thinner although it didn’t make much difference. I wish I could post pictures of it here to show how awkward it looks. Unfortunately mine didn’t really work, but it was a fun project and your video was so helpful! Thank you!!

Caroline Marimo: I have learnt a lot about the hard front part which I struggled to do now I have an idea how to do it thanks very much for sharing

Tara Lucas: My gosh, you’re amazing!!! Thank you!!! My hard front wig looks so much better

Yvonne Williams: Now I can rock my synthetic wigs again. Thanks

Emblem: I would highly recommend using a seam ripper! Look around sewing supplies

Nancy's Love For Make-Up: Funny fact, I never had seen this done till I now see this video, but I have done this exactly same with a few wigs just on my own, and I even took a cotton hankcheeve and folded double and layed the front of the wig in between the fabric and I took either an ironing iron or a hair straightening iron on not too high heat and gently wit little pressure for just a second at the time and kinda melted the rubber and thinned it so it's even more invisible, but I am wearing wigs for several years, and braids, tape in extentions or anything actually and this thinning the rubber is something you must do with the most precautions as you can ruin it and melt the hair in, get it molten too much but you can try it first on a bad wig that you don't mind getting ruined!!!!! It's tip that works really beautiful but you must be extremely careful!!!! Good luck to you all and thanks for making this tutorial as I can definitely recommend it as I do it too and it saves us lots of money on wigs that we don't wear for each day, but still want it to look quite natural xxx

Jayme lynn McIntyre: Gorgeous job thank you

Cláudia Maia: Thank you so much, you helped me a lot, i just bought my first wig

NefFy: Thank you I just got a couple cheap wings and I was thinking about doing this but I was scared to cut into it,afraid they would fall apart

Chris Hawkins: I love the lace fronts personally… the hard front ones I stay away from. I don’t know how to make em look natural… thank u for this!

Sharon Lynn: I bought a cheap wig from Amazon to practice on. So keep up the videos that are very informative and interesting

Brittany Kegebein: Love the videos very helpful

Princess Benjamin: Awesome job explaining thanks your awesome

Priscila Souza: Amei

Deborah Debora: I’m new subscriber. You taught me a lot just now. Thank you.

Exquisite kind: I love wigs now. I'm purposely doing it to heal my natural hair....i want to try this to make mine more natural looking. Ty new subscriber!

M ParGo: I don't how you don't have more followers, from tone to production! I love it all!

alexandra johnson: Do you ever use a glue to secure it in the front so it lays down really flat? Yours looks good without doing that, but I feel like I may have cut that flap too far back so there's a harsh edge now and I want to be able to secure it better to blend it with my baby hairs in the front! But I'm afraid of getting my glue in MY hair...help! Haha

Michelle Elks: Thank you SOO much!!!❤️

Connie Lowery: Tried it and it works! Much better! Thanks!

donna gibeau: thanks for sharing ,im a beginner and this helped alot

TRACY ANNE: I've just done it the way you said........ WOW A MAZE ING!!! TY So much xx

Silent Willow: Thank you, I have to shave my hair off due to dying my hair too much, my scalp is in need of a fix. So I ordered 3 lace front wigs but I got 3 hard front synthetic wigs instead, in the completely wrong colors. So since they refuse to respond to my emails and send a refund I have to work with what I got

Th3-Lite: I have a hard front wig. It’s beautiful without the hard front.

Mario Spaghetti: I bought a wig to try out and figure out how to install it because my mom is getting married in December and will be wearing a wig being as she has stage 4 cervical cancer this has helped me SOOOOO much I really appreciate it

Stephanie K: Do you do this for wigs with bangs too???? I would imagine the part looking better either way but I'm wondering about the front thing you cut out... Thanks for sharing your expertise!!:)

Nancy Gonzales: Great job I do that too but your better at it this was very helpful ☝️

KANDACE PATTERSON: For taking out the front there is a yool you can buy at Walmart called a seam ripper...it is made for taking out stitching...eaiser than the scissors. Im going to try this with a wig I bought. I shaved my head due to it thinning because of stress.. Im 67 firat time wig...but I go out with my buzz hair too...I dont care

Leila Andrade: In the end if it was up to me I’d change my hair color weekly if not monthly. Id be bald so wigs are a yes no matter what your texture is save the integrity of your natural hair.

Carole Grant: I was just watching Chelsey Smith and she mentioned you! I’m new to wigs. I have 5 that I got from Chelsey....3 I got on her fantastic cyber Monday sale! I also have one with the front that you just showed that was given to me. I haven’t put any on yet....I’m trying to learn everything that I can first. I’m looking forward to watching more of your videos. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!!

Kim Canfield: Great tip! I have a few I got I’m going to do this with. But what kind of sharpie color would you use? How about Lola for the lioness wig!

Clark Wahlberg: You're right tho!!! Some of these rubber part wigs look alot more realistic in real life than some lace fronts.

Shan: I bought a “Malaysian hair” and I’m Chinese. The owner didn’t measure properly and she said it’s ok. Anyways it was to thick and she said it didn’t need to thin out and when I tried it on the hard lace front line foreheads wasn’t laying flat so she sewed it up . I still have it and still wanna make use of it cause bought it with $$$.

Deanna St Omer: Thanks so much doll! Xxx

irishcas: I'm just getting started and I've been watching videos for 3 days and yours is the first one that I really liked!! I'm going to go thru all your videos and then I'll see if I have any questions. What I would like to know is where to buy wigs from. I bought before researching and got a couple from hairsleisure and I'm not impressed at all. Now I've got a few shopping carts setup at different sites but I'm afraid to spend a lot of money on the lace front wigs without knowing if I'm buying the right kind. I guess it is the return policy that is important :) Anyway, can you recommend some good sites to buy from?

sasha bailey: What do you think about the boiling of a wig to change the style or get rid of split ends??

libbie lee: thank you for this im gonna be wearing a wif for halloween and i was streaks about this thank you !

WXY: Hi! I accidentally cut all the hemming stitch on both sides at the front is there a way to fix it?

Miss Toya Motivated S: Thanks for sharing

Teresa Haven: You're funny. I HAVE put hair onto wigs lol although it was usually strands I cut off other wigs. Also, I use a single edge razor instead of scissors because the first video I saw showed a razor

ablair: OMG!! What did you just do.... love, love, love . Thanks bunches!!

Cybil-Jade Cappo: I just bought my first wig and I wish I would have bought the lace front one for 40$ more because the one I have really has me disappointed. I bought it for 120$ and I'm super scared to put scissors to it. I wouldn't want to waste money anymore then I already have ☠️

ASMR EUPHORIC STIMULATION: my family thinks it's weird that I have this new wig addiction, my dad said I like you better with your thinning hair. I just told my dad if all men thought like him I would not be single right now and I would feel way more confident and have no need for wigs. But since that is not the case and the sheet fact is I don't feel pretty in my own natural hair anymore. I loved how getting my first wig made me feel pretty again. So I am trying to not allow my family's negative reaction to change how I initially felt when I put on my first wig. I have always wanted to try the bangless wigs but was always scared people would stare because it did not look real. Thanks for the plucking tricks.

mattiesful: Jesse, u are adorable. I love your make up and you are stunning with your short hair. The video gave great info on plucking, thanks.

Chisty A: Great job! Have you ever tried cutting a very thin line of baby bangs/baby hairs at the hairline?

NefFy: I think that I could take the extra hair that came off and then get a stocking and stretch it super tight so the holes are bigger and then poke the hair through and put him down on the back. Then I could just attach that to the very front of the lake and MAKE THE LACE FRONT.

irishcas: I have a question about the cutting that you showed in the video. When I cut that piece out it has extra stitching on the left and right side of it and hair coming out on each side. am I supposed to remove the two sides as well? I don't know if this makes sense or not. I took a pix and circled what I mean, but I can't figure out how to upload a pix in the comments.

Kittymittens 14: See I bought an extremely long wig for a cosplay of mine and this helped me make it look much better

eyesthatsee: The wig that makes you feel like a lion...call her Leona (lioness) ❤

liz P: So when i cut the rub cap along the front.. am i also cutting into the side seam as well?

Brandi Jaegerman: The one you fixed should be named Angie, and the lion one Carly.

MD AcuDocs Acupuncture: Do you have a solution for the harsh transition between the silk top and the lace front? You know some are just really bad even in decent wigs.

Ash Can: This will work for cheap wigs as well? (Silly question) but I need to know lol

Beth Parker: If you could pull the threads, maybe less cut loss.

Nereida Serracin: Good morning..I did the same with Mine in the front because was leaving me a strong mark in the Front of my head...thanks.

Brigitte Olson: this video has such good & kind vibes

Marina Fiesta: Thank you

JustFoyJohnson Family First: Name the Lion one Leo. Ohh this was such a good tutorial. Do another one and style it

Folasade Adedeji-Lasekan: Thank you for sharing.

yeye yeyeye: I have a bit of an emergency, i accidentally cut through the hem of my wig, is there anyway i can sew it back? Or glue or smth

Elise West: Hey I just bought a hard front wig but it has a lace front attached. It's definitely not a typical Lace front and I guess they would just add it to the front of the wig .How can I do what you just explained with that piece of lace in the front? It has that horrible bump right in the front and the wig is sythetic but beautiful

Keren Joseph: Love it

ELISABETH M: Well, Nala isthe name for the lioness on the foam head and your curly bob? Why, Babette, of course! Thanks so much for this tutorial, courageously brilliant

Debra Davenport: I want to start wearing wigs but I’m not brave enough yet. When did you start wearing them?

boohoohoo: Couldn't you just pluck out the stitching and then re sew it ?

MD AcuDocs Acupuncture: Also did you say you cut off the undervented hairs? That’s something that actually brings a bit more realism to the traditional sheitel wigs IMO, however if the front part is too “tall” it still looks bad.

Shannon Sweigart: Where do you get your wigs?

Raymart Madlangsakay: look pretty ♥️ i hope someday i have that wig so many .♥️♥️ Im Your fan from Philippines ♥️♥️♥️

Myra O.: This the JayBaby method, she is here on YouTube too. She did this a while ago. You did a great job!❤

Kerry Dehorney: I am brand new to the wig game as I'm going through chemo. I have bought several wigs but have not worn them because I just don't know what to do. ‍♀️

shannon corcoran: my hard front w my wigs are fabric on the hairline... does this work on that type too?

NefFy: Idk why they don’t just sell them this way!

Hannah Asaolu: Thanks for sharing.

Kajuh Top Teste: Não sei... Achei o início da repartição muito alto. Talvez um Baby Hair ajudasse a disfarçar. Mas curti mesmo assim.

Phondara Ith: Don’t do it people, it will mess up your wig!!!!

GoOgle Account: Does anyone know if it would be okay if i were to do this on a wig with bangs ?

msofray: You did a great job! Don’t know who jay baby is, but you showed me something great today

Megan Kirby: Do you ever stack wigs?

Paola Lopez: I own 3wigs I never used them cuz I don't know how to work with them but I'm trying to learn

Brenda James: Good Job!

Valerie S: Awesome

Cherol Frey: where do you buy your wigs

Jayme lynn McIntyre: What type/ color sharpie? I thought they only came in black
