10 Things You Absolutely Must Know Before Starting A Wig Business! Jasx Aigner Taught Me

People don't talk about this a lot and i wish i really wish they did. Obviously, anybody with an online business, but a lot of videos will typically be tailored around the beauty industry. You start a wig business now about a year ago, maybe a little over a year ago. I did a video kind of similar to this. It was 10 things you must know before starting a hair business. I decided to switch it up. You know i'm saying okay, so for this video we are going to be going in order. I'M not gon na, say least important, but we're gon na save the best for last we're gon na say the most important thing you must know for the very last. Second, all right. So the first thing we're gon na talk about what is going to be the prices for these wigs honey and does the quality of your hair match. You know a lot of times. People want to consider themselves a luxury brand, but really there's nothing luxury about the brand baby. That'S not even a brand baby. So, what's going to be your price range, are you going to be targeting people who are you know more upper echelon willing to pay a pretty penny for their wigs, but those people will desire and require a certain level of quality? Okay, or are you trying to attract people who are on a budget? You know maybe they're not trying to spend over 200 for a week, but just know with those type of people nine times out of ten a lot of problems will arise and i'm just gon na leave it right there. Okay, will your wigs be custom or will they be pre-made or both okay? So what the hell am i talking about? Are these custom made to order, or are they machine made by a manufacturer and you buy them in bulk right, so you have to figure out what type of wig are you going to be selling? That is also going to set the tone for your prices. If you're doing custom made wigs, you can charge a little mo okay, but if you're getting them from china for 49 and you're trying to charge somebody 600. fight me hoe. Somebody gon na break your balls. Okay, like you, can't be trying to play people so what type of wig do you want to sell? Do you want to sell both sides? Do you want to just start with one? That'S something that you need to think about number eight. Okay, so let's say you decide girl my wife's going to be custom, i'm trying to get that coin. I'M trying to perfect my crabs. Okay, okay, i heard you since i hear you question: are they going to be made by hand or are they going to be made by machine and by machine i mean sewing machine nowadays, people they want machine made wigs. They want them to last, not saying that handmade wigs can't last, but we're all about working, smarter and not harder. First of all, right, so machine made wigs that are made on the sewing machine, for one will cut down your time, they're built to last forever. You know you may need maintenance, maybe two years, maybe three, and by that time they should have a couple more wigs. You have to decide. Are you going to make these wigs by hand literally sewing them with a needle and thread, or are you going to make them on machine and, if you're trying to make them all machine, please please, please, please, invest in your craft y'all, okay, pay for a class You'Re trying to get people to pay you and you don't even know what the hell you're doing we're not doing these scams in 2020. Okay period. Now, okay, you didn't decide it i'm doing custom wigs or maybe you ain't doing, pre-made wigs hell. Whatever floats your boat baby, if you have decided that you're going to go with the custom units well, this is something to think about. Are you going to let people send in their own bundles or just use your hair you're got to be like that girl? Look. You can't send in hair, you can only use the hair that i provide, or are you going to allow people to send in their own hair and reach a bigger client tell what you gon na do now. Disclaimer keep this in mind, though. What, if somebody sends you, you know some shitty hair and then they try to put it on you, that the quality isn't there or the wig didn't turn out how they thought. Well, sis! You brought me this synthetic hair. That'S also going to fall on you. So just be careful, keep that in mind. If you decide to allow people to send in their own hair their own clothes or pieces frontal pieces, i would have certain policies in place that you know it can't be used before it must be fresh hair, human hair um. You know uncut uncut lace, things like that. I always have certain security measures in place to protect myself and protect my brand from people trying to come for me when it's not even on me, so think about that y'all now this is something i've talked about previously. In my hair business videos, i still recommend this to this day and that is to have more than one vendor. That also applies to the wig business. If you're going to do pre-made, wigs or custom wigs, you need to have more than one vendors for your bundles. Your closures and your wigs, especially right now in the midst of a pandemic, a lot of vendors are out of business. They don't have any inventory, so you want to have at least two to three vendors minimum man me mom. You got ta know that before starting awake, business number five y'all, who are you targeting? Who is your customer again? This plays a major part in a lot of things: the quality of your product, the delivery of your product, the prices for your product, if you're paying 300 out of pocket yourself for custom, wigs that you're making by hand not let's we're not even talking about the Time that you're putting into these wigs baby, you need to be targeting people with that coin, because you want to be charging upwards of five six seven hundred dollars and if that sounds like a lot of money, you're, not the target audience for the people, that's charging! It and that's just real right, so don't think that people will not pay, because i'm telling you people will pay, they will pay. You just got ta go find those people so figure out are those your people, maybe those not your people. Maybe you don't want. You know to charge that much for hair or you want to target people who are in the lower tier range, there's nothing wrong with that, but you absolutely must know who your target audience is before launching a wig business number four, i feel like people don't talk About this a lot - and i wish i really wish they did - and that is that different people skin tones require different colored lace. Okay, y'all different people's skin tones require different colored lace. If i'm light skinned, i don't need dark lace. It'S going to look a mess. I'M gon na look like a clown and vice versa. If someone have a darker skin tone, they need darker lace. That'S how you're gon na get that seamless milk that lace on fleek the if you're, making custom wigs for people even if you're selling pre-made wigs there has to be an option on your website for people to choose their lace? Color, because, if you're thinking that everybody is one color, honey, you're gon na be in for a rude awakening, okay y'all, so i just wanted to throw that in there something to think about and something to accommodate people with okay number three y'all y'all can see. We getting down to the nitty-gritty - these are very, very, very important thing to take into consideration when you are trying to start a hair business number three. You absolutely must know how to measure someone's head correctly and how to transfer those measurements to your wig head. Just like the skin tone, y'all people got different hair sizes baby. You know i'm a little, i'm like um. I had like a small hair. You know, but i ain't like a big big head, i'm more like a 21, my hair short and like a 22 inch circumference when my hair, isn't that short, like it's growing out right, so my wig size kind of vary. But if you take someone that has an incredibly small head and you try to give them a wig, that's meant for someone with a large head news. Flash is not going to fit okay, so you have to take that into consideration as well that people have different hair sizes. You have to know how to measure people's head, because what, if they don't know how to do it, you have to be able to walk them through that and provide them with that information on how to do so correctly y'all. This is so important. Please do not skip out on that. Okay, whether you're doing custom, wigs or not. You have to know how to measure somebody's head accurately and how to also instruct someone on how to do so at home. In case you aren't there physically to measure it for them. You know what i'm saying now we getting down to the last two, the last two i'm talking about yeah, i'm sorry, i'm not going to get on this channel. I lie. I don't know me on this. Damn channel y'all already know. This is what we do. Okay, we are getting down to the last two y'all. We need to know how much is it to sustain this business because people be thinking they're, making money when really you are in the hole, because you aren't keeping track of your numbers accurately. So i want you to know. I want you to really really know how much down to the sense is this going to cost you right? This is marketing. This is packaging. This is shipping. This is inventory. This is design. This is branding everything matters. So exactly what are your startup costs and how much hair do you need to buy to get it going and to keep it going? You got ta know that y'all all right and last, but certainly certainly, certainly now, please you got ta know you got ta reinvest. Baby, don't get excited and i know when you start a new business really exciting. Before i get depressing okay, let's be real, but don't lose sight of your end goal. You have to know that the dollars the coins, the bag, that you're making isn't yours just yet. It'S still your business okay, it is not your money, it is the business money. Okay, put every cent back into the business y'all y'all know. I say this: every video and i'm never going to stop reinvesting is the only way say it with me. The only way, the only way the only way you're gon na grow in this real okay. If you spend every dollar that you make you're going to stay in the same place, if you spend every dollar that you make you're gon na stay in the same place. Reinvest, that's it for this video.
