Hey everybody welcome to another episode of Wiggin out with Bobby Z, hosted by me, Bernadette house, down and beginning a lot of requests about how to glue on a lace-front properly for drag and for theatrical purposes. Now I did have a tutorial that I did over a year ago showing how to do that the how to do a drag queen bump layering tutorial. So a lot of people didn't catch that in the video, so I figured I'm getting in drag tonight. I would make a little quick tutorial, showing you guys how to do it, so this is the wig that I'm putting on myself today. So if you guys stay tuned I'll show you how to do it, as you can see, I'm already prepped in everything I got. My lashes and my lip on, I almost glued my lashes together, so I'm pretty much done so. The first thing you're going to need to glue on a wig is spirit gum. Now I use this is the Ben Nye bottle? This is actually Kryolan spirit gum. I find the Kryolan spirit. Gum is really really strong, it's pretty matte and it holds very, very well. I found that the Ben Nye was really liquidy even after I set it out to like thicken up. It was still really watery and it didn't really hold as much as I wanted it to so I switched to the Kryolan. I have a big bottle of it, so it's gon na last me forever need a makeup puff. As you can see, this is my glue puff you're, also going to need a wig cap and you're, basically just putting the the puff in the wig cap, and that way it doesn't absorb as much of the makeup off your face with the cap around it. You'Re also going to need small and large hair pins without the ball tips. I really really like the meta grip pins from Sally Beauty, Supply of the link we down in the box as well. As you can see here, they are very long and thin, but they have no ball tips and they're straight. They don't have a crinkle or a wrinkle or anything, and I really like that because it easily goes through the lace. You don't want to use bobby pins or hair pins that have the ball tips on them. It'S terrible for the lace, it'll poke holes in it. You ideally want to use something small like these. That is roughly this sighs as the holes in the lace, otherwise you're going to rip it. It'S going to fall apart after a while. It'S not good girl stick to the small hairpins, so this is the wig. I'M gon na put on today. You guys might remember this wig from my pretty-in-pink tutorial. I did a couple months ago, she's, basically just been sitting on a shelf in my apartment for the last four or five months since I've used her and I was going to do a whole new wig today for this event. But I just didn't have the time and I have a perfectly good wig at home - why waste the time doing a new one when I have her first thing, you're going to want to do is prep your head put a link to my new, updated tutorial to That below in the box, and also try to put it in here somewhere, if I remember to so first, what you're going to do is because this wig is pretty much a solid and helmet. I'M gon na put her on from the back to the front just like that. Ah there we go and then she's on, so I'm gon na pull the back down just to make sure it's nice and tight. I'M gon na pull her actually make sure she's on straight. I'M actually gon na pull her forward a little bit just by pulling the foundation, I'm not pulling the Haros pulling the foundation forward and then I'll slide her back just a bit so that I just want her to be right at where my natural hairline is. I just had to readjust my camera. It was a little bit low and I could not see the top of my head. I'M sure you guys were wondering this is um. It started off as a pale pink Marylin from my distributor that I use for my deluxe lace fronts. I didn't it had like no hair in it. I wasn't a fan of it, so I bought this hot pink hair. If you guys go back and see my Pittsburgh beauty haul, from like a year and a half ago when I went home for a week, that's where I got this hair um and I just sew two packs of it in cut it to the length of the Weight rolled it styled it teased, it sprayed it for Jesus and that's how I got this like ombre type effect here. You'Re gon na want to use the longer hair pins to anchor the wig to your prep in the top, and the back I like to do that first and I like to pin the front last so usually what I'll do is if the wig has a part Like this, one does right here I'll take my pin I'll go in and you can see here. The pin is coming in to the left of the wig and I push that pin. I push that pin straight back, so the pin is going straight back like this. Every time I use a pin in the top and in the front they all go straight back that way. If I ever, if I want to just rip my wig off quickly, I take the back pins out and I just put my hands inside and pop it off because they all go back. It'Ll hold it on securely, but it's easily remembered. So that's my first anchor and, as you can see this wigs already on my head, like I'm jiggling around, if you wanted to you, could just have that one pin you're good to go, but I like to feel really really really secure in my wigs. So next, what I'm going to do is I'm going to lift up this wave right here and I'm going to pin in basically where the lace meets the foundation back in here and again, the same thing is I'm just going to go straight back with that pin And if you don't feel the pin going into your hair or into your pin curls, take it out and do it again less is more when it comes to pinning on a wig, you can put pins in it all day long. But if they're not going into anything, it's really not going to hold on very well. So you want to make sure that you're getting the pins into your prep into something solid and not so what's going to keep it from moving next I'm going to take. Since I have my two anchors in the top, I'm going to take another one of these pins and I'm going to do it in the back portion here. So here is the foundation of my wig right here, and here is my prep wig foundation down I'm going to pin right where my prep line is you don't want to pin at the bottom of the wig, because very often that is going we beyond your neck, Where there is no prep, you like I said you always want to pin into the prep, so I'm taking this 10 and I'm going underneath that band that I showed you guys in my video going underneath that band and I'm going diagonally up and in this way, Like this, so that's one pin right there and I often will do four in the back I'll. Do one right here right behind my ear again going back and up and then I'll do that one down here and again. On the other side, first one's going to go right here behind my ear right in here that and then my second one is going to go more towards the bottom right into my prep right there. Alright! So that's on there, as you guys, can see I'm shaking my head all around oh she's on there. Now that I have the top anchors and the back pinned in securely, I'm going to take the smaller pins and I'm just going to lift up these waves. A little bit this wig actually is styled so that I can actually not have to glue it just because you can see where the waves come in. You don't see my corner, you don't see my real hair, pretty much at all anywhere, but for demonstration purposes. I'Ll show you so I'm going to just pull this up and as you can see, this is the lace right here and then this is my hair and then right here is my prep, so that first pin I'm going to put in is going to go up Into the lace right where my prep is right here and I'm going to go back and that basically is what's going to lock the corner of your wig in then, if your lace is still a little flappy which mine is I like to hold it down with My finger and then pretty much about an inch behind the hairline I'll. Do another pin right there? Okay, so that's this side and then you're going to repeat the same thing on the other side. So here we go wig lace! There'S my prep right there. So I'm going to hold this hair out of the way, and I like to actually, as I'm doing it, I like to pull the wig taut against my face. That makes it lay really well, and it also just makes me feel like I'm in there very securely. Alright, so now I have it pinned in if your lace is really if your lace is really snub on you or if you have a lot of curls like that in the front, you can just leave it as is, but since this was going to be a Gluing tutorial, I got my glue and I'm going to show you guys how I do this so you're going to open it first. This is really aa tough cold. Can I take your spirit gum like this and if you're already wearing your costume, you should wear something over it like a bib or something so you could glue on it, but I'm very very careful with what I do so I'm going to actually just hold my Hair out of the way, and basically you're just going to take that corner of lace right here, you're going to lift that up and you're going to make a little L shape right where that lace lies well. Just like that, then you're going to pull the lace tight into it and you're going to take your powder puff in your wig cap and you're just going to dab it into the glue trying to watch on the viewfinder can see a little bit of my cyber. But there's a crawl right there, so you won't see it um and if the hair is down on your face like this, you kind of want to keep it up out of the way until you get that lace dry until you get the glue dry, otherwise, you're Gon na have a big ol mess so now the same thing on this side will hold my hair out of my way here and then, as you can see, here's my lace and it stops right there. So I'm going to hold the lace up with this hand. I'M going to do my little T or my little li me not at the gates now little L of glue right there, I'm going to pull the lace down onto it, so it attaches and then I'm going to use the puff in the stocking to dab it In and you'll know it's dry when it stops tacking down the cap to your hand, you can also you can glue your hairline all the way around, but since this wig fits me very well, I don't do that. I just glue it on the corners and I usually, like I said, only ever glue it on the corners if the corners are shown this wig they're hidden by my waves. So I don't technically have to do it, but just wanted to give you guys a little demo on how to do that. Um. My nose contour is really dark on the side. You want to make sure that your glue is closed and then um. So now that the glue is dry on my skin, I'm going to take two more of these small pins and then this is just for me so that when I'm out and about I don't worry about my wig looking right. As you can see, this curl right here Clips pretty much right into my face and what I'm going to do is I'm just going to take two of these longer pins just to anchor that down. So when I'm walking around or doing whatever they're gon na stay, you can see here that pin is going into that wave and that's what's going to hug it to my forehead or my sideburn. I guess you can say just like that and then it'll make it kind of tight so that you can kind of fluff it just like that, and then there's that wave and the same with this one over here, just kind of pull it in a little bit. Take my pin and go straight back all right there. She is she's on my head. As you can see, I can do all kinds of crazy stuff and she's on and she's solid because she did not move an inch just now. So there you go. Thank you guys so much for watching be sure to check out all my fun social media stuff down in the box, be sure to check out bobby pins calm. Cindy Hanson: Oh, my gosh! I just realized you, Bobbie Pinz, and the host of Coffee & a KiKi are the same people! You're gorgeous in drag! You should be on RuPaul's Drag Race yourself! Thank you for this tutorial. A friend just gave me my very first wig and it has a lace front. I have had no idea how to put it on properly, so this has been so helpful!

Jean Varsava: I'm a cosplayer and I've been watching/reading wig tutorials quite a lot for a few years now. Yours are by far the best ones I've found and even just listening to you talk is delightful. Thank you for sharing your wisdom <3

Dayna Sauble: This tutorial is wonderful and helpful! Thank you! Also your makeup is gorgeous and this wig is gorgeous!!!

WasianFactor: Brilliant! Needed to see something about gluing wigs on, esp since being a lady the wigs tend to be a little bit big on my head and I totally needed tips like tacking the glue down with the puff! Thank you :)

Stephen Stephenson-Spencer: Darling you are FABULOUS! I have recently bought my 1st front lace wig after 24 years, and you have given me everything that I need to know. Thank you from the bottom of my heart darling! xxx

Missus Elphie: Hi I'm suffering from female diffused hair loss and looking to purchase my first wig as hair is getting worse recently. Just wanted to say thank you for such a detailed tutorial as I'm utterly clueless just now to the wig world! Do you have any newbie tips for my first purchase? Any pitfalls I should try avoid?

Jessa Scott: Thank you! I have always loved wigs and have had a few… i finally have a job where i can express myself and recently got my first lace front! I didn’t know i should leave so much lace though. Maybe i trimmed mine too short. Anyways, live and learn. Thanks for your help! I’m so excited to get my next wig! I am subscribed!

Two sicilian sisters: Loved it keep them coming u have helped me so much I don't want my wig going anywhere

mainnj11: A great alternative to using a powder puff is to use a wet Chamois Cloth. It will keep your lace cleaner and it reduces all the residue of the spirit gum! And it won't mess up your makeup!

NeuroticNate: I'm loving the remakes of these videos, because it shows how much you have grown from the past. I can watch you grow in HD now!

Michelle Sharp: Thank you so much for doing what you do! I'm a newly diagnosed cancer patient on chemo and am on the count down to bald. Your videos give me the silver lining I am looking for! My only thing is how will I pin a wig down to bald? Thanks so much Bobbie.

Natalija Noxx: Thank you for explaining the way to lace pins! I've always had trouble pinning wigs. Also, I've been watching your videos and noticed that your hair is frequently curly or dramatically wavy; Is that just a personal preference or do you have any special reasoning behind it.

mikey weaselwhipper: this was a great tutorial, thank you for posting.

Britt: Thanks for posting this. Your makeup is just gorgeous.

Serena Moon: Hi!! I love your videos, you're very informative to a new wig wearer like me. I was just wondering.. Do you/will you have a video or any information on how to add in a widow's peak to a lacefront? I have a widow's peak, and the lacefront I want requires me to make one. I'd like it to be natural while I wait for my hair to settle down from stress-thinning. Thanks!!

antlem711: I love your videos so much. I have a few questions I'm really curious about though. What's the purpose of using the net cap along with the solid wig cap together. If you glued the hairline down all around would you still need the pins in the corner? How exactly does the hair grip work? I have trouble imagining terry cloth texture being the only support. Also what do you think about misty eyez pantyhose method for her wig base, pins on the wig rather than through. I know I'm asking a lot, but I'm just starting out with drag and I'm really curious. Keep on making awesome videos Bobbie ^^

FiveUntilPlaces: Not sure if you still see these comments but I'm wondering how to keep the short hairs at the hairline under the wig cap? I have a pixie cut, typical short haircut for guys. The hair near my ears never wants to stay in my wigcaps. I thought I had seen at some point online about an almost velcro-like clip that kept hair back but I don't want any extra bulk ya know?

Rose Paradis: You saved my life, THANK YOU D: xo

Angela v: Do you glue your eye lashes to your natural lashes or on your skin? Ive never worn lashes before so i dont know how to apply them.

immagothrockstar: Where do you get your lashes? And what number/brand are they?

betsey: bit of a dumb question haha, when your prepping how do you keep wig cap from moving? whenever I have a wig cap on under my wigs the damn thing just don't want to sit on my head, the back comes up and the front comes back and then say hello to natural hair popping out! its a nightmare! many thanks!

Miss Ovary Jones Bradshaw: Love the video, just one question, how about if you are bald? Should i still use hairpins?

forever Apathetic: Omg I love your makeup...lol so drag quick question can a girl be into drag?

Shhmoee: you are so precious and beautiful <3

FitFineFifty 50: Just subbed!!

julianavargas1992: I have alopecia and am completely bald, i wear wigs everyday but i always feel like i have to restrict my head movements for fear of it shifting or coming off. Any tips for baldies like me ?

Moomin: If you don't like using bobby pins you can buy those little clips that are usually on hair extensions and sew them in to the top band of the wig it works great for the longer or heavy wigs

Taylor Louise: Hiya! I have a quick question. I'm not a drag artist or anything but I am really getting into cosplay and I'm pretty good at styling wigs etc. I would like to start on lace front wigs but I can't find any that are fairly cheap (as I'm just starting out) and that are crazy colours. Can you help me? bye this video was sooooo helpful!

Weic Lin: How would you hide the lace if the hairstyle is like all back and the whole hairline is shown? Coz If I zoom in this video I still can see the lace on your forehead, I mean its fine on the stage but how should I do if its for a close up photoshoot? thanks

torrey austin: new to drag trying to find my style but need to kow where to find the supplies

Niya M: How do you find the perfect drag wig for you I have a big head yes I'm in a minute I can not find the best week just hit my head and measure it doesn't work so what is a another way to find a drag wig weave.
