Drag Queen Wig Styling Tip: How To Curl Or Crimp Your Synthetic Wig

A few months ago I purchased a beautiful copper red (bone straight) wig and after struggling with the decision to alter/style it I broke down and went for it. The outcome couldn't have been better. Watch me blindly style this straight synthetic wig to the god hunty! I crimped/curled/mermaidcurled the wig and cut asymmetrical pixie bangs! Check it out!

So once upon a time there was this gay boy right and he did Drive and he went bought a straight wig and he got it home and realized that it wasn't full enough or thick enough. I gave him life at all. It actually took life away from him, so what he decided to do was change that wig. Now he was scared right. He was scared. He was scared because his ass didn't know how to do hair at all, but he'd seen some YouTube videos and he was smart and resourceful and with a little bit of know-how, he knew that he could make something magnificent happen and transform this dual straight. Lackluster hair into something incredible. So what he did was he split that way down the middle? He made four braids on each side and then he boiled a big-ass pot of water. You know so once his water finally came to a boil. He said I'm gon na. Take that pot of water, that's boiling at a ridiculously high temperature, and I'm gon na, pour it all over this wig that I just braided up. So then she took her wing right and she laid it down across the bottom of her bathtub. Lord knows I'm scared for that. Then she took cold water and ran it all right. How about it? Just took a clothes hangers stuck it through with it rhaggy tracks, on how I'm gon na up like that. What we're going to use is a little blow. Dryer action here all right, so it's time for the big reveal and what we're going to do is we're going to go we're going to take out our braids now. This is not completely dry, but I do not give a book so list up. I can already tell these curls are locked into place, because this is a movement alright. So I just took out my first parade and, as you can see, that hair is crap, so yeah we're just going to repeat this process. You'Re going to um braid your hair and then you're going to brush it out so that it doesn't look like kinky twists, your white, you probably don't know what that is. This is the final product. It came out amazing, I'm very, very, very, very happy very satisfied. Look at all that half so if you enjoyed this video, please be sure to like it also subscribe to my channel and comment on the video. Let me know what you think:

Erin Morticia: I love the way you narrated the story of how you crimped that wig!

sabbboy: I LOVE the intense story you began the video with. it pulled me in.

AlexisAshnew: Ohmygod you are amazing at tutorials, i love the way you explain things haha

1weerdchik: This is a great tutorial and will definitely help me with my mermaid costume, thanks!

Andrea Elzey: Hand to God, i needed this because getting my Myrtle Snow hair texture has been my very own American Horror Story. Thank you! I’ll be looking fabulous next week thanks to you. ♥️

Les bienfaits De la lune: Ah thank you for this. I still had a ratchet wig laying around that I lost hope on, but is now one of my favorite! I am also doing this for a long cheap blonde wig of which I just died the roots black.

G G: This is a really useful video and was easy to do. An interesting side effect of having the hair puffed and frizzed out is that it retains a lot more heat. In effect the hair becomes like a synthetic down comforter in the way it traps heat. Learned this on the first night when the weather was a little warmer. Will definitely do this to more wigs as and when needed. Thanks.

Skarlet Starlet: Thank you so much, I'll try to turn it out for you! You'll see me rocking this very soon, stay tuned babe and thanks again for the support <3!

justintimeforteaandcake: just tried this out on one of my wigs it looks sooo good I'm really happy, thanks for the video :3 <3

distortionx51: Perfect! This video was easy to understand, very helpful, and made me giggle :] I need to crimp a wig for my Amano FFIV Rydia costume and this is the perfect method for those synthetic Ebay wigs. hehe. I'm totally gonna be scared trying tho. I'm a wig styling newbie.

Chad Jones: i just did this to one of my old wigs and it worked BEAUTIFULLY

Ceri M: Oh my I laughed the entire way through this and then played it for everybody in the office becuase it was so funny. But really I can't wait to try this

Scott Rogers: Oh my god thank you. I have a crimped wig but I want to straighten it and I was so worried I'd never be able to re-crimp it!

Holly Holden: Wig shine spray! you can find it at most beauty supply stores, it's oily and makes it easier to brush, you can also use talc after to decrease the shine :3

Glynis Rounds: You're ADORABLE!!!! I used a version of this and it worked GREAT!!!!

Dawson Knowles: gonna do this to one of my wigs soon. i'd love to see this one on you!

Melanie Vonfange: I never would have thought to put a wig stand on a tripod! LOVE IT. I have a synthetic blond wig that does NOT do it for me... so I might try this!  Wicked awesome vid!

Kawaii Devil Chuu: Haha you're so funny! I love it, and you're very helpful! <3

エヌエー(ネフェル アズレさん):  Actually, you don't really need to do the cold water step, just catch the hair in a big towel or cotton Tshirt to get the moisture out. The same thing you do when you are dipping kanekalon box braids in boiling hot water when you are finishing them. You don't even need to put it in the tub, you can the pour the hot water into a tall pitcher or a large bowl and dip the hair into that, and like I said, catch it with a towel or cotton Tshirt. (The tshirt is more effective because cotton absorbs moisture better than towels, interestingly enough). Anyway, this makes sense. I see girls who straighten their synthetic wigs and believe that once they do that, they can't get the curls it came with, but this would be an excellent way to do that. Another variation would be to set the hair on perm rods, flexi-rods, or rollers, and do the same thing with the hot water. Thanks for giving me the idea!  And thanks for sharing! :)

Ella George: Woah it turned out amazing! Great video :)
