What Makes A Good Wig

Hi, so this is a little bit of wig advice for some of you, ladies, who are just starting to buy wigs or who are shopping for a wig and you're, not really sure what to buy okay. So i wanted to point out some things: uh that make a wig a better wig, a more passable, wig passable meaning. It looks like like natural hair when you're wearing it okay. So this is one of my wigs. Obviously, okay and i want to point out some of the things about it that help it to be more passable. Okay, so first, let me get a little close here. If you can see how the hair that's up here is a little darker than the hair down here. Okay, especially if i take it up there like that, you see that is called rooted, colors. Okay, that is especially good if you are buying a blonde wig or a light brown wig, a light, colored wig. It helps it so that it just looks more natural, because that's how hair looks hair is generally not one even color and so rooted colors will help your wig to look like more natural hair. Once it's on your head, okay, the second feature: i'm gon na - take it off of here now this is called a lace front. I don't know if you can see that, but you can see that there is right here. This is a very thin lace that the hair is stitched into okay. What that does is that's how my wig is now. It basically gives the appearance of a natural scalp, okay, that the hair is growing around at right out of your head. If it doesn't have that, then it generally will almost look like this and it'll be obviously a wig and it'll. Look terrible, okay, so lace front is a very important feature. One of the most important features on a nice wig, okay and then the third thing is called a monofilament cap. Okay and it's kind of like lace front. You can see here. If i turn this inside out, i don't know if you can see it, but right here is the lace, and then here is a little bit. Thicker material called monofilament and it's kind of a mesh material on mellow element. Wigs, the the hair is sewn into the monofilament by hand and what it does. As you can see on my head. It gives the appearance of hair, that's naturally growing out of your head. Okay versus, let's say something that looks like you're wearing a hat like a hairy hat okay, so these are three features that help your wig look more natural and uh, more passable. Okay on you now another thing that um is you want to get a wig honestly, that is synthetic. I know that natural hair is better and obviously natural hair looks more like real hair, because it is real hair, you'll, sometimes hear referred to as remy hair. Okay, the thing about natural hair is that it doesn't really hold its style like this wig i've had for years, and it still has the style. Okay, even if i wash it, it holds the style. This is a raquel welch wig, not all wigs will hold their style if you wash them natural hair, unless you're really good at setting hair and doing hair, you really don't want a natural hair wig, because it's just like it is natural, hair and you're going to Have to be constantly doing it and maintaining it as well as it's generally quite pricey and another feature on a wig that definitely is not going to happen with a natural hair wig is you want a wig that is that it'll stay on there? It'S ready to wear, okay, meaning you don't have to do any styling or cutting or anything else you can just put it on. Usually, natural hair wigs are not ready to wear, you have to take them and in and it's definitely a luxury when you get more into wigs, you can definitely do that, but they're usually not ready to just put on and wear now, even with the ready to Wear wig you're going to want to comb it out before you put it on and start wearing it, but you don't have to style it or do anything into it other than just comb it out. Okay, what you're going to want to do with a wide tooth comb and then the only other thing that i recommend on wigs is to see how long this wig is. This is, i believe, 22 inches long, so this is the longest wig. I think that that rocker wall makes, or at least that that she made at the time. So this is the wig that i wear. If i'm gon na go out to, if i'm gon na go dancing, i'm gon na go out to dinner. I'M gon na go out somewhere really nice, then i would wear this wig, but i wouldn't recommend a wig like this just for a normal everyday use. If just women do not walk around real life with hair like this, at the mall or at target, or something it's kind of too much, and what i've learned is that anything that is way too much draws attention to you kind of in a bad way and Kind of gives you away, so i don't recommend getting a really long wig now you know when you're out to a nice evening. You want to look pretty then great, wear it, but i would recommend shorter wigs to be if you want to be more passable. Maybe shoulder length this one here goes a little bit past my shoulder, even this might be kind of on the long side, but you want to stick with wigs that are a little bit shorter, because that's how most women wear their hair is a little on the Shorter side, women don't have hair going all the way down their back, and so there it is
