Hi everybody, its uptown and I'm here with a video that I have gotten a lot of requests to do. I have been planning on making this video for a very, very long time and never got around to doing it because full-time student at college. That'S a that's! A lifestyle that really keeps a person busy, but I'm here now it's the weekend. I have time in my life for once many many many of you guys here on YouTube in the comment. Sections that I read all the time or even on other social medias have been asking me how to wig prep, and I have continually answered that I was going to make a special video about it and then never did because I'm busy. However, I am here to make that video. Finally, the reason I'm making this video now is through a rather interesting series of events, actually, which is something that I actually want to. Thank you guys for on one of my past wig reviews from kiya hair. As I always do with the wig companies that I review for, I emailed them and sent them a link to the review video that I made so that they can look at it and decide whether or not I suck and upon watching the video heeeh hair wrote Me back and said that you guys are the cutest sweetest and most enthusiastic people. They have ever seen. They actually went through and read through the comments section of that video, in addition to watching the video itself, and they were absolutely blown away by the reception that it got from you. They actually noticed in the comment section of that video that a lot of you were asking about how to put on a wig how to prep your hair before putting on a wig. What'S my system for putting all of this under a wig and making it fit? And not make it lumpy and weird and gross than Earth, and so they extended an offer to me. They asked if I would like to collaborate with them on making a wig prep tutorial video using one of their wigs that they were willing to me. So I figured if anything was motivation enough to get me to actually sit down and make this video one. It was you guys and two I get another wig and I get to talk about kiya, hair again because they're great. So that is what this video is going to be about. I'M going to make this video a full-on tutorial about everything you could ever want to know about putting on a wig in general and also about lace front wigs. As you can see, I have relatively a lot of hair. It'S not the longest hair you've ever seen, but it's not the shortest. In addition to being kind of long, it's thick, my hair is extremely thick and I have a lot of it. So for all of you, people that have longer hair sort of like I do or got a lot of it or want to know how to get all of this up inside of your wigs that your wigs still looks natural in your head. That is what I am here to tell you. I have a specific method of wig prep that I do when I do my cosplay all the time. It'S taken a few years to kind of nail down to what art that works. For me, it's a bit time-consuming, but I promise you. If you have hair anything like mine, it will be worth it back. In the beginning of my cosplay days of yore, I used to do what a lot of other people do, which is take your wig cap. Put it on throw up your hair and hope it works, which, more often than not it doesn't. If you just throw your hair up into a wig cap and slap your wig on top of it, you can bobby pin that baby in as much as you want, but there is still going to be a huge possibility for it to start to slide backwards off Of your head throughout the day of you wearing it in this video, I have three things that I want to cover number one, which is the main overarching principle of this video, which is wig prep. How I do it, why I do certain things with it and what issues about wearing a wig it helps to solve. So you can decide whether or not my method of wig prep is something that will work for you. Secondly, I am going to teach you guys once again how to cut and wear a lace front wig, since that is the wig that Heeia hair has been so kind as to send me and number three in regards to that wig, I will do a review on The wig itself, what I'm going to do is show you guys how I put all of this up into some pretty heavy-duty wig prep and explain what I'm doing and why I'm doing it as I go. So, let's get right into it. Okay, so I have to get all of this hair up and inside of a wig. So the first thing I'm going to do is create an anchor of pin curls along my hairline, I'm going to do about five pin curls one in the very center and two on either side to make my first pin curl I'm going to take a small section Of hair about this thick, you don't want it too thick, so that your pin curl is too tall and bulky, but you don't want it too thin, because then it doesn't really create much of an anchor at all to make a pin. Curl you take the section of hair and you wind it smoothly, as you can around a single finger once it's wound around your finger pinch, the hair from your finger and slide your finger out while keeping the pin, curl firmly pinch between your fingers, then you might Want to twist it a little bit to get it tight against your head, lie it flat and then you're going to want to take a couple of bobby pins to pin it down, make sure you point the bobby pins backwards, start at your hairline and then push It back towards your head, you're going to want to do this with a second bobby pin as well point this also pointing backwards from your hairline to the rest of your head, but in the other direction, then the first bobby pin so you're going to want to Crisscross them in an X, these two bobby pins should be all you need to hold that pin curl firmly in place, like I said, I'm going to make about five pin curls one in the very center which I've already done and then two on either side of It'S that I have a crown of pin curl anchors along the hairline, because the center front piece was shorter in length, because that was where my bangs are. This section on the side is longer, and so I'm going to take a thinner section of hair because there's going to be more hair to wind around my finger repeating the same process as the first pin curl wind it around a finger pinch it off of your Finger and take your finger out twist it tighter against your head and then lie it flat against your hair grab. Those bobby pins take the first one and stick it into the pin curl pointing back towards the rest of your head and then repeat the same thing with the second bobby pin crossing the first one in an X. Repeat this same process on the other side. And now we're going to make one more set of ping curls on either side right above where our ears are. These will be the last two pin curls to create the rest of our anchors. Depending on your own hair. You might choose to use fewer or more pin curls, depending on how thick your hair is or whatever you think your needs are and that's it. You know how five pin curls one in the center and two on each side, so you have five in total, the front of your wig can sit in front of these pin curls so that even as you're wearing it throughout the day, it will not slide backwards Because it will get stuck on those pin curls so now that we have the front of her hair taken care of, we have the rest of it and there is a lot of it. So how are we going to get all of that to stuff up? Inside of a wig so that it's not lumpy to get the rest of my hair up into a wig. What I do is that I split the rest of my hair into two halves right down the middle, because this is all getting slapped up inside of a wig. If the part down the back of your head, isn't perfectly straight: it's okay! It doesn't really matter because no one is going to see it. You just want both halves to be about equal. So what I do is I take one half of all of the rest of my hair that I have split and I split that half into three parts, and can you guess what I'm gon na do with it, I'm going to braid it if you know how To French braid, your own hair, or you want to have somebody else, help you buy French braiding your hair. For you that's another way you can do this. I, however, am too lazy to French braid, all of my hair and so dividing it up into braided. Pigtails works just as well, at least it does for me, so I'm doing a simple braid all the way down one side of my hair and I'm going to fasten that braid with a small hair elastic. I like using the tiny ones for the ends of braids. So that they're not super bulky and I can still work bobby pins around them later, which I'll show you in a minute now that I've done one half it's time to do the other repeat the exact same process of doing a braid on this side of your Hair by dividing it into three sections braid, it all the way down and fasten it with another hair tie, so you got pink curls and you've got two braided pigtails. So now you have to take these two braids and wrap them around the rest of your head. So that they stay in the wig and so that you can evenly distribute your hair all over your head so that there are no weird lumps or bumps inside of your wig, that you'll see from the outside you're going to need a lot of bobby pins. For this part, so make sure you have plenty of them on hand. I try to place my braids very strategically around my heads that they serve a purpose. The first braid I'm going to wrap around my head, starting from the bottom and winding my way around to the top, take bobby pins and pin it in place. I try and wrap my braids starting from the bottom and working my way up, so that the braids can be at the bottom edge of my hairline. This is to create another set of anchors, much like the pin curls at the front of my hair line. This will keep your wig cap and the bottom edge of your wig from riding up, as well as from riding down, keep pinning that braid in place until it is as secure as you can get it once. You think you have it pinned in place. Do the shake test and make sure that it's all stable and is going to stay where you want it, and now it's time for the second braid this one, you wind around your head in much the same process, wrapping it around from the bottom up. This is to create the other side of the anchor at the bottom edge of your hairlines, that things don't ride up, and you won't see the hairs at the back of your neck nearly as easily continue pinning that thing in place with a heck of a lot Of bobby pins, until it is secure, okay, do the shake test one more time. Everything is staying and you're good, and so that is how I do my wig prep. I have my pan curl anchors along my hair lines, that the front edge of the wig will go in front sit here and be completely unable to slide backwards, even if it wanted to - and I have the rest of my hair into two braids wrapped evenly around The outside of my head pinned in place so that I can do whatever I want and they're, not going anywhere with wig prep out of the way. Now we get to talk about the wig via hair is an online wig supplier company that stocks wigs using either synthetic or human hair. They also have clip in extensions if you're into that, when he hair went through the comments section of the previous review, video that I sent them. They were so amazed by the reaction that you guys had. They decided to create a coupon code that you guys can use to get a discount off of your order from Heeia hair. This isn't something they do for everybody, so it thanks to you guys that it even happened. If you decide to check out kiya hair and make any orders from them, you can enter the coupon code. Uptown 10. That'S upto wn1 zero! To get ten percent off your order. That information, along with via hairs social media, will be in the description box below. If you guys need a refresher and if you guys want to check them out, as I said before, they sent me a second wig to try and use as an example in this video. It came in this box, which is different than the box that came in before, took me a second to figure out this contraption of a container, and they have this time, like used, like shrink, wrap and attach their way to this piece of cardboard and from what I can see through the package it looks like they sent me not only the wig, of course, but also a wig cap, which I will be using before I put on the wig. Let'S open this up, hi woman hear me roar. Yes, I am a woman. I know it's really hard for some people to wrap their head around it, so you open it up. You get this here bag that has a little tag on it, that says kiya, hair and with the Amazon logo. In the background, because they had me pick this wig through their Amazon store like last time as the sticker on this bag. It says the wig that I received was the kiya hair fashion, triple purple blond black wave synthetic lace front rainbow wig, it's a cool, wig trust me. They actually sent me to wig caps. Yes, I am all about it. Let'S open this up and take this out here, we have the wig woohoo. Look at this baby. I was really fascinated by this wig because of the ombre that it has it's not one that I would have originally thought of, but honestly, like it looks kind of cool. It'S not like super curly, mostly just at the ends which I'm okay with and I'm gon na brush this out anyway, because it's been, it's been squashed up in an airtight bag for a long time, so it needs means a little bit of TLC. If you know what I'm saying once again, I'm extremely happy with the color of this lace. It matches my skin tone quite well and very pleased. The inside of the wig looks very well-constructed, it's very soft and flexible, and a bit stretchy on the inside, which is always nice, and it did the thing that I love lace fronts when they do the thing that was not a sentence. It has these doodads. It has the cone doodads, they have sewn in three of them to let go on the sides, and it also has one sewn into the front. It has the adjustable hooks that will get looped into the back to adjust it to the size of your head. I really appreciate these wigs because they're not really shiny, like this. This just looks like really nicely conditioned actual hair. When you see a really shiny wig, you know it's also a really fake wig. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to grab a pair of scissors and show you guys how to cut the lace off of this lace front wig! If you were going to ventilate this wig, meaning that you would use a very tiny hook and some very tiny fibers to loop through this lace and create a different shape in your hairline or a custom hair line, you would want to leave this lace until after You were done, but since I'm not doing that, I get to just cut this off and slap it on my head, which is great, so I'm going to grab scissors and then we're going to do that and I'm also going to clean up the debris field. I just left behind me if it's your first time cutting a lace, front wig. You might be kind of terrified to do this, but I promise it's really not super difficult. You just have to be patient. What you're going to end up doing is cutting the lace off of the front hairline of this wig as close to the hairs as possible without actually cutting the fibers. If you Nick a few hairs, that's okay! Just try not to take huge chunks out of it. If you can avoid it, a little bit of extra lace at the front is okay, because, ideally, when you wear lace fronts, any extra lace that you have on the front here is not going to show, because it's going to get tacked down to your forehead using Either lace front tape or a skin-safe adhesive, such as spirit gum, tada, no more leis. That'S all excess lace has been removed. So look at that hairline much better. Now that we have removed the excess lace from this lace front. Now we get to put it on. So first you're going to want to take these elastic straps with the hooks on them and put them through one a couple of the loops here at the back and make your best guess as to how tight you need this thing to be it not right, then You get to take it off and do it again, because my hair is kind of long and a little bit bulky now because of the braids. I'M gon na pick a slightly looser setting yeah we're going to call that good. Now we get to put this on and see how it looks before I put this wig on, though we get to put on a wig cap, I'm going to use one of the ones that here, hair was so kind as to provide me with reason is because I don't have a skin colored one down here with me with this particular wig. I might choose a skin tone one because the top of the hair one that's actually going to be sitting up here - is blonde so having a black wig cap under this hair. Just in case, it shows through not exactly ideal, but it's a wig review. This is what I was given. So what I have and we're gon na work with it so quick thing about wig caps, there's a couple different kinds: this kind is the most common one, which is the mesh kind, with two holes on either side. Once I is just more mesh and the other side has something of a thicker elastic band around it. This is the side. That'S going to go at your hairline, because it's it's snug, it's pretty soft, it's comfortable and that's! What'S going to keep all of your hair inside and from popping out underneath the way some people are a little unclear as to why wood caps have two holes in them. It'S to make your life easier, you're gon na want to take your wig caps. Let it's a tunnel around your hands. Put it all the way over your head, so it becomes a choker boom fashion statement. Please don't don't wear this as a fashion State kind of weird you will have your way cap around your neck, with the elastic band facing down and this part of the mesh going up now, that's around your neck. You can pull this part up over your face and the rest around your hair, oh, and it has caught all of your little baby hairs in there. You don't have to worry about stuffing them up in there. It'S great bring the elastic part behind your ears. Make sure it's lying flat, so it's not like bunching up everywhere same with the other side and push this band back to your hairline. So you have this depending on your hair. What you want to do with this top part can vary um often times. What I do is that I will take it twist. It lie it flat and then use another bobby pin. Another thing some people do is that they will twist this and then pull it back down over itself. However, I have too much hair for this, and my hair is too thick and wig caps don't like to cooperate with me that much. I can never get that to work, so I'm not I'm not going to. Instead, I'm just going to twist this top and put it down the bobby pin except I don't have a bobby pin you're with me. Hmm hairs of all thing: Oh Jay get this tick. Squish it and pin it only reason I do this is so that the opening does not get rubbed open wider over my hair and start getting itchy. This is just to sort of keep it closed and in place to keep all of my hair, where it's supposed to be also, if you'll notice, if you did your braids right and you have at least one of them, looped down close to the bottom edge of Your hairline that's going to keep your wig cap from sliding up, as well as the top from sliding down. I thought this through now that the wig cap is on, we can get to the actual wig. The combs are a little bit tricky to navigate. If you haven't done these very much before, especially the top-center one, it's hard to get it exactly in the right spot takes a little bit of wiggling a little bit of trial and error. So we're gon na take this and we're gon na put it on and here's the wig again, because my wig cap is black and not blond. It looks a little bit dark here at the top. That'S okay! It'S not a big deal also because I don't have an adhesive here with me. The sides are a bit loose. Ordinarily, what you would do is you would take this lace and you would tack it down like so so that the hairline actually goes all the way around on both sides, but as it is now, it's even without adhesives, it's still staying pretty darn. Well, so the back of my head is not covered in lumps from my hair underneath because we prep the ombre. This wig is honestly really pretty again. I wouldn't have expected it to look this good, because it's not colors that I typically see, but it's nice, it's it's actually really nice and I like it. The pink curls are doing their work and keep making sure that this isn't going to slide too far back the combs here are excellent. I think I got this one anchored properly. It'S kind of hard to get to, though so we'll never know, but it's it's staying and that's what's important. This wig is super long. Here is the bottom of the wig, and this is like the bottom of my rib cage goes past that, to like it goes like longest piece goes to like the small of my back. That is some serious length because it's been in a bag for a really long time. The curls are a little bit in the non-committal stage right now. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to take this wig brush and I'm going to run it through. Really carefully just to loosen up these waves make them look a bit more natural. A couple hairs are popping out from just from brushing it, but that's normal, especially for long wigs. This wig has some a couple problem spots with tangles, I'm just coming right out of the box, so I've got my wide tooth comb now and I'm slowly. Picking my way through these, the big brush is great for loosening up, curls and stuff like that and just getting through the length. But I don't know it's not doing too well in the detangling factor of this wig. But that's the brushes problem, not the wig. Now we're talking - oh that's, so much better! Okay! Here we go wow. This is so pretty look how gorgeous these colors are. I will say that when I first picked this from the website um - and this might be one reason why I was worried about whether or not the ombre would look good is because, on the website, this blonde part actually looked a lot more yellow blonde, as opposed To this platinum blonde, but honestly, I think the platinum blonde was a much better choice and is working with these colors a lot better and I've never thought that I was a person that looked good in blonde hair or blonde wigs, but this wig is kind of Changing my mind, I don't know if you see the help pretty the back is like wow. What I like to test with all my lace fronts is if it is reportable well, what doesn't it's not used to falling this way, but it is working. Okay, you can repart this. The hairs don't quite want to cooperate because they don't they're not used to going that way, but you can heat, treat this to cooperate a different way. These fibers are heat resistant, so you can use heat styling tools on this wig. As long as you make sure to use a low setting, I like that it's long because it means you can do a lot of things with it and you can style it. However, you want again. This wig is not very shiny at all and looks extremely natural. The hairline part from the part that is not tacked down oops there you go, the hairline looks excellent. The lace is matching my skin, very, very well, which is good and hard to find. Sometimes because I'm a ghost, not a lot of things, come pale enough for me, you could pull a lot of this up. If you wanted to, you could pull some of this back and it looks really nice. It'S versatile and it's wearable a lot of different ways which i think is really cool for wigs to have built into their functionality. I like it when you have options with your wigs, because a lot of wigs are wefted. A certain way can be worn. A certain couple of ways, and then apart from that there's not a lot. You can do without rewetting parts of it yourself because, like if you pulled up like any old wig into a ponytail chances, are it's not going to look good because it's not wefted to function that way. This Waggoner, like it's, got so much volume that you could pull like a lot of this back and still have it look really lovely so yeah. Oh, this would make a really cool braid too, with the ombre that would be nice. I, like the consistency of the waves - it's not too curly, so that it looks like Brizzy. It'S like got nice natural waves which look really nice with this hombre. So I think that might be all I have to say about this thanks so much to everybody for watching, and I really hope that at least some aspect of this video was helpful to you. You finally have your answer now of how I do my wig prep. So hopefully you can take some tips and tricks from that and incorporate them into your own wig preparation for cosplay routine or for everyday wear. Whenever you use wigs they're useful for a lot of things, not just cosplay, it's just primarily what I use them for. I also, of course, want to give a big thanks to Heeia hair for offering to do this collaboration with me, and let me use another one of your gorgeous wigs for the purposes of this video. Your wigs are always so pretty in such good quality. I'M always happy to work with you again and in line with that, I also want to give another thanks to you guys for watching and for commenting, because, if not for you're super positive and super interested in enthusiastic comments. I may not have gotten this week to try. This is one of the reasons why I'm so so proud of you. I'M proud of us. I'M proud that this family, that this community that we have on this channel is, for the most part, so positive and so happy and excited about so many things, and it helps keep me positive and keep me excited. So, thank you guys again. I love you all. So much and I will see you all next time - take care

SAMazon: You are so amazing Uptown and I love seeing all these opportunities opening up for you. Your fan base truly loves you because you are such a wonderful person. I'm so happy to have met you and to call you my friend.

Weasleykins: Hey, I'm taken a hair program in college and here is a few tips: When you are placing in your bobby pins go back on either side of your pin curl like Uptown said, but make sure the wavy end of the pin is down, the waves are there to help bobby pin stay. Also, make sure you drag the pin along your scalp, so the pin doesn't pop off under your wing throughout the day. Hope these tips help!

_P0ss3ss3d_: This is really helpful for me. I have started cosplaying my OC's and one of them has lavender hair and I will need a wig for it. So thank you ! : 3

Kathleen Wilkinson: Defiantly doing this next time I wear a wig. My longer wigs always like to slide backwards. Thank You so much for this wig prep video, and the wig review was amazing as well! :D

Tae Bear: Uptown! You're so beautiful it should be illegal for someone to be that beautiful

TheSwedishFish: You should be thanking yourself uptown! Your always so happy and so inspirational you make us want to be the same way! Rosalyn Amberly: That wig was GORGEOUS! You look very pretty with the ombré hair. Thanks so much on the tips: I had a Harley Quinn wig and it's my first wig. I didn't know what the straps were or how to put my hair up but now I do so thank you so much!

Spencer Deavers: This was very helpful!!! Thank you! I'm new to wearing wigs and cosplaying in general! You are very beautiful btw and the wig looks really good on you!

Moon-chan Tsukihime: OMG!! this video helped me so, so much! My hair is super long and thick and I always have the issue with them sliding back. I had never thought to use pin curls. I'm going to try this when I do my next con! You rock! Thanks so much!

TimeNeurosis: Definitely going to refer this video to all of my customers who ask about longer hair wig prep. It's one of my top questions asked and it's hard to explain it to them without visuals. Thank you!

Alex Welch: this video has made me more comfortable with growing out my hair, I never could figure out how to get my previously medium length hair to lay flat in a way that worked with wigs so in a small fit I decided to keep it short but this is helpful so I will likely grow it out again

Wisteria: THANK YOU SO MUCH! This is really helpful. As a beginner cosplayer I had no idea how to wear a wig. I usually just put my hair into a ponytail then shove as much of it into a wig cap then put the wig on and hope for the best. Which resulted in a lot of hair showing through the wig. But now I can properly wear wigs after watching this video :D. Thank you!

Annabanana6954: very helpful! I was planning on only doing 3 pin curls, but after you explained how more pin curls helps secure it better, I am going to do more than 3. And the wig looks great on you! :D

Lycan Jill: Uptown, I am very new to the cosplay scene, in fact I have never actually cosplaied before but I really want to. this is very helpful for someone who had never even worn a wig before in her life like myself and I just love your videos. I would love to know how you make some of your cosplay as well.

rosehikari123: The wig looks amazing, might check the website out soon as I design cosplay later today. :) As for the wig prep, I'm one of those that will use the black mesh cap to pull my hair up (it's about the same as yours, brown, long and thick with a bit of bangs) and then apply a skin tone wig cap on top of it to make it look smooth. I do have a lot of issues and worries when it will fall off, especially wearing my blue wig in pigtails for Marinette from Miraculous Ladybug, or having a long clip in ponytail for my Attack On Titan Sasha wig. I have little experience with long 50-70cm long wigs, but my red one I used in a contest is now tangled up and I'm thinking about possibly saving it. My black one is okay, I keep it in pigtails, wash it so it's softer, and usually wear it with a head band--it's my casual wig lol Overall, I'm thinking I'm doing some steps wrong, especially the wig prep. I usually put the wig cap on to hold back my hair, apply the make up I need, take out and put back on the wig cap, put on the second wig cap over the mesh, and then put on the wig. With pigtails, it takes me another 20-30 minutes to fix each one, but my blue wig is cut sort of wrong to the point I shouldn't have cut the ponytails short... Anyways, I'm really glad you made a wig prep tutorial!! I will have to try it when my friends and I go out to do Christmas cosplay pictures :) I will be sharing it on my cosplay Facebook page because you are one of my many cosplay inspirations

My Lady: Uptown is so adorable and she makes these wig vids a lot of fun to watch! And I'mma go check out that discount... XD

Jenna: *dies p^p* Uptownnnn You're too kind when it comes to thanking your fans like geez, we thank you for making these great videos even though they could be things that others aren't interested in but love your commentary. Thank youuu ;3; ! And by the way you look fabulous today cx (as always but y'know)

devry reanier: This was really helpful and hopefully will work for me when I have time to start cosplaying. Thank you.

EimiBug: This video is super helpful! I have long, curly, thick hair and I hate short wigs because they actually require wig prep that for whatever reason never seemed too accessible, but this is great! Also, of course you look good in blonde! I'm sure you'd look great in most wigs ^^

Galactic Orchid: Gorgeous wig! Again, you rock all of your looks!

キャリ: omg thank you the tutorial definitely lit my path. My hair is uncontrollably thick not to mention it's straightened and my natural hair is curly and the wig prep is totally going to help! Thank you! Can't wait to see more reviews!

littlehartthree lh3: Uptown!!! thank you so much for posting this, it's definitely gonna help me with my prep, and also, you posted this on my birthday!!!! what a great present! also Uptown with braids is pretty. Thank you again and have a nice day!!!

TheEliteKat: It looks really beautiful I love the wig and I might start cosplaying

Hailey Barmore: I really like the wig that you choose it has cool color and I can't wait to look at all of the wigs on the website

Audrey-Grace: Thanks for the video! at first I was reluctant on wearing wigs 'cause I didn't know how to make them look nice, but now I do so I am not afraid to wear them again! Also I loved how the wig looked in the end!

Kitty Lee Cosplay: That is actually really handy. I may need to look into getting some lakefront wigs because some of those look like they would work better than some of the wigs I currently have. Thanks for the tutorial, I'll keep the idea when my hair grows out again.

Tabby Jones: Wow that is an awesome tutorial! and totally makes me want to try wigs even more now! eeeek :D

Imaan Ahmed: Thanks for the vid uptown! really helpful!! u look so beautiful in these wigs!! this gives me a good insider on wig prep, maybe when im more responsible with my hair and its not all tangly within every 2 inches, ill actually try this. Also, considering that my hair is shoulder length, curly, and mostly tangly, would u suggest i use conditioner when taking a shower before wig prep?? because it usually makes my hair less tangly, but it would still be curly.....

Sweetpotatoespie: thank you uptown you are so helpful and funny and inspired me to do cosplay and made me join my school's cosplay team

Jelecia Washington: The wig is sooooo pretty and the wig prep was very helpful and informative so thank you so much!!!!!!!My hair won't look lumpy when I wear a wig if I can figure out what I could do as a cosplay... but I was following along with the video as it progressed and it turned out really good for me even though my hair only goes maybe an inch past my shoulders so thanks a lot Uptown!!!!! Stay Awesome And Keep Smiling!!!!!!

Storytellermiller Miller: This is amazing Uptown and it excites me to at least try a wig for myself. which means i can cosplay outside my actual hair now!!! YAY!!!!

Blue Eyed Stray: Yay finally our answer! :D Your wig prep is really smart ._. I always just did my hair into two braids and pushed them into the wig cap and that was it xD But the part with the pincurls is so smart, I'm so going to try this now! And when you had the pincurls at your hairline and the two braids, it looked like a super tumblr hairstyle, like two braids with a flower crown xD Also you looked lovely with that wig! It's really pretty ._.

Carla De la Hoz: Thanks!! You just made my life easier! My hair goes down to like my butt and it's really stressful trying to get all of it into a wig cap...

Kaitlyn Odom: Love love love! That wig! The ombré is so u! I've been very interested in cosplay, how it works, wat it is like, and how much fun people have doing it. Although I am in college I try to save money on what I can cosplay has been a challenge for me to try I hope I get to soon tho because a anime convention is coming up soon so fingers crossed! Thank u Uptown! Ur an inspiration! Have an awesome day! Or as Adrien or Chat Noir would say, Have a purrrrfect day! XD

The Lupine Vault: You looked really cute in this video. Sorry if that comes across as too forward.

Shannon Palmer: this helped so much!! i never thought about using pin curls to keep your hair up!!! THANK YOUUUUU

River H: I have really thick hair too, so I want to know how to keep all of my hair under a wig so this video really helped. Also, cute wig!

Mary Torres: yes! the top part of wig prep I will so do! though not the back sadly. I have short hair so I'm guessing a lot of just pinning for that. definitely gonna get a wig from here when I get the chance! thanks uptown!

Chantelle Marie: ive never acrually seen someone use the pincurl method. read about it in my cosmotology book, but most people just braid it and in it up. cool to see you actually use this technique

goldenlover 234: My hair is also about the same length and thick, but it also REALY curly. This video will help me so much because I have been struggling to find a method that works, and I think this will. So thank you so much this has been needed very much!♥

Lia William: This is really helpful. I have really thick hair like it took 25 minutes to comb through my hair and two people were working on my hair :I would it be helpful for me if I straightened it?

Breanna Hammond: Beautiful wig! And great tutorial, Uptown. Just one quick question, do you sew/create your own costumes for your cosplays? Or do you have someone else do it for you? Thanks in advance! Big fan, by the way! You're amazing! Keep it up! Love ya!

that _thespian: Uptown...May I argue with u when u said u don't usually look good in blonde wigs.Have u seen the comments on you're Chat Noir Dance videos? They beg to differ!

Morning Star: this video is really helpful! and amazing wig by the way!! ❤❤❤

Harriocity: I found this video super helpful and it work really well when I did it and it looked real and not unattractive and unnatural

DragonsFae: that is a gorgeous wig you look amazing

Rat King: so I have short hair and I still had lumps and my main problem was that my wig cap would slide off all the time but the pin curls work really well for pixie cuts too if your bangs are long enough. I was also able to put some bobby pins on my back hairline as well.

kiingslayer__: Your make up is on point! And the wig is fabulous

Cacti Queen Cosplay: Shay's gonna have to try your way of wig prep because her long, thick, Scottish hair can't seem to ever be contained but this just might work! x'D

Just a girl with books: Yeeeesss I was waiting for this since you first mentioned it, I'm so happy because now I have an idea of how to do my hair...I love your videos, and thank you for uploading this one :)

Princess Miraculous: This helped A LOT! Thanks so much Uptown!

warriorforepilepsy: Found the video I've been looking for ! Thanks so much Uptown this helps a lot!!

samuriiyumi: if only i had this video like 5 yrs ago when my hair was long and I was killing the lumpy wig head look like a chump Im scrolling through heahair looking for a wig under the excuse of there must be SOMETHING i can use for cosplay LOL

Sav: I've been cosplaying 4+ years, I just learned SO much in one video that I have facepalmed twice (because I am an idiot) and just sat here for a few minutes contemplating my life.

Bright Eyes: thank you so much! I have avoided looking like a mushroom finally! I have thick and curly hair and before it was.... not good. also eyeliner on point

Mixha 17: I hope this works for me, I have relatively long, extremely thick, curly hair which I can't even control in everyday life

Lili Cipher: I may not have thick hair, but my hair is extremely long. I just want to thank you so much for this video. I have used this method a lot and it helps so much thank you.❤❤

Niki: Does the coupon have an expiration date? Can it be used for other wigs besides the one you reviewed? Great video!

Angela - Silver Linings : Thanks so much for your vid on wig prep. I'm passing it on and sharing it on my site! You are a hoot!

CCCosplay: thank you uptown for wig tips great wig by the way.

SeychellesLover: I recomendable people with no bangs, (as another option) you can do your hair in two braids, and fasten them over the top, and on the bottom, it creates the same lump so the wig doesn't slip!

Angie Rose: yay! finally wig prep!!! ur amazing! love you uptown!!!

Zombiekitty: she is so pretty

laurel barker: IM SO HAPPY!!! my mom said i could have four wigs of my choice from hea hair♡♡♡

Eliseismeyousee Granger: This has helped soo much. I have really thick hair and wanted to get a wig for Cosplays.i didn't know haw to pull up hair whithout it looking lumpy.

Blossom Cosplay: It looks beautiful on you. I like it.

Little Leprechaun: I worried a bit that this wouldn't work on my hair, since it's thick but kinda short, but it worked way better than I could have expected

Elizabeth Horn: This will be so useful for me. I'm growing out my hair, and it's pretty thick, so..yea. Also, I'd like to say, you are so pretty. Like dang, how!?!!?

Phoebe More: how... do you look so cute... in full wig prep... who are you Super helpful video by the way, (I will definitely be using this for my school cosplay day coming up soon! I was worried because my wig has to survive through a ballroom dance class!)

Jenelle Bennett: OMG Your Beautiful in both genders! I've never heard of anyone like that!!! CONGRATS

Jaiden deTurbiville: Uptown the wig you picked is very pretty i wish i had it

Haley McDonnell: I'm gonna try to get a wig for my cosplay. . . once I find out who I'm cosplaying. . . Maybe I'll get it from heahair!

Hailee Starkes: Whoops, after watching this again, I realized I was doing the pin curls wrong, hehe

DSM Productions (official): Your brown hair is so pretty that I don't see a reason for you to wear a blonde/purple mix as no 1 in reality would have hair like that.

Squish of Squaz: Amazing video!! Ah! I need to see if your way of wig prep will work for me now, I've tried I few other ways (that weren't as extensive as yours) and they didn't work XD I, also, have very thick and long hair like you :D -my only problem is that it's extremely curly too-

Mario Silva: Omg your so pretty even without the A wig

Heather D: you're so pretty... and this will defiantly be helpful....my hair isn't story long but it is really thick...so thank you...and I would have never thought that you and your chat noir cosplay were the same person (if that made sense)

TwistedRose: Thank you for this!! but what if you have super thick long curly hair (like me) and you have tried braiding your hair but it doesn't lay flat enough so you have resorted to pin curling your entire head with 500 pins(more like 20-30 I like being dramatic when it comes to numbers).

ObsessingOverChatNoir: Really helpful, thanks!

Kathaya: I have hair that goes just past my butt so I have to do my one method of wig prep xD

awesomesauce4433: Uptown, I was wondering if you have plans to/will ever do another cosplay panel as Crona? I really liked the Crona and Maka panel at Sakura-con. (I watched it on Youtube.) Also, the way you portray Crona is really good. I love it!

Yenny Garcia: You look so pretty and my favorite wig is (Ombré Blonde Purple Synthetic Lacefront Wig)

Bugga: Woah this is awesome I'm gunna check out the wigs I wanna see what they have!

KatTara123: to be honest before i read the title of this video, i was only looking at the cover picture, and my first thought was, "Oh no don't tell me you cut your hair!" but i made sure to thoroughly examine the picture, and watch the video before i would comment something. Thanks for this video it will surely help me in the future when i ever get around to using a wig.... life....
