Hi there today on this chain bike guy we're going to take a look at replacing the BOA dials on a pair of specialized s-works mounting shoes. This will be the same process for the latest generation of rode shoes as well. Unfortunately, one of mine broke, so I did have to go ahead and invoke the warranty that did a bogus, but you can go right to the boa system calm and be able to order replacements free of charge. They actually allow you to get one left and right pair free of charge because they both definitely believe in in the BOA system. So let's go ahead and open this guy up see what's going to come on side, so I went ahead and got that's the two pair that I'm able to get so left and right for each boa system on this shoot and what we basically need to do Is on the shoe there's this little spot right there, that's kind of the clip for the BOA system to work. Let me go ahead and put the good shoe out of the way we'll grab our bad shoe here. That'S the one, that's broken and take a look. So this is the BOA s2s parts kit. This is what you'd need for most of the s work, shoes and, in fact, any of the specialized shoes you can find it right on their website, which one you're going to need us we'll go ahead and pop this guy open puts the packaging right back there In case, we need to see it again, and so this is what you're going to get inside cool, Boas a left and right, and then it's going to give us a little diagram there. Now, when we're doing it, the easiest way I've found to be able to know if you're doing the correct side is look at the rotation of the arrows here. So turning down is going to tighten the the BOA system, so let's go ahead and take a look. This one it's going to be going the opposite direction. You see how that has the BOA. Turning that way, I believe yep and then this guy, because that ends up is going to be turning plus. So this is going to be the correct one here. So all you'll have to do is undo the boa strap that comes with it on a specialized shoe. You just hook the back end right there and then so. Once you get that hooked press straight down, you hear that little snap, and now we're in place hold your thumb right over where it needs to slip into and with a little bit of tightness boom pops right in so my other boa is working fine. So I'm not going to be replacing that right now, but I have this for the future. I also have the replacement kit for the other side, if I were to ever need it now. One thing just to mention about these little Boas is so it's a stainless steel strap inside so they're actually pretty strong. But in this case, when I was out on a ride, I actually snapped the upper one where you have a little bit more loop, but because of that little button and just being able to pop these in and out on the s work shoes. What that allows. You to do is take the lower one move it up to the upper that way your your ride isn't over. This is especially important. You know think if you're you're doing a race or something like that being able to be up at the the start line and and if something we're to break being able to replace. It is a pretty great thing thanks for watching and subscribe for more

Fernando Abela: Thanks for posting this video! The BOA website you provided allowed me to get 2 new free replacement ratchets for my Specialized road biking shoes. Fantastic customer service, thanks again.

Krautastic: Hey! So the little paper diagram you quickly showed is the easiest way to determine which boa reel goes where. You flip it over and if there's an R, it goes on your right shoe, and if there's an L it goes on your left shoe.

Wayne Day Doyle: Just ordered my replacement BOA. Thank you!

looneybin2007: Thanks for the warranty tip. BOA sent me a replacement.

Vince Corpus: Can I use an S3 Boa System on an S2 (Torch 3.0)? My other shoes are running S3 and it's much more convenient to release the tension just by pulling on the S3 dial

A P: They have a R And L on the back of boa anyway, to make it easier for fitting correctly.

Glebazzz T: Hi! Tell me please, can I order this boa mechanism free? Or on the official site i must to pay for it?

Antonio Marcano: How do you take off the old boa? The hold piece?

mike burton: Reflect a comment made earlier, you don’t start the instructional video with the boa dial OFF the shoe already. Would turn this into a much more useful video. The BOA site video is better, and its not good.

Gale Hess: Ok, the video completely missed the point. Hold your new boa with the backside facing you so you can read it. The letter L or R will be facing you. On mine (December 2020), there's a smooth basically rounded edges type tab that sticks out below the letter "L", and there's a slot above the letter L. The tab slips into a groove in the receiver mounted on the shoe, then the slot goes on with a tiny tooth a mm from the slot, the tooth snaps in positively, it clicks (slip the tab in the opposite side, then push down firmly by the tooth to let it slip in and snap). Caution with the tiny plastic tooth is the key to removing the old one without damaging the shoe side receiver mount , so take a long look at that little tooth and consider your use of the screwdriver and how it will affect the tooth, so as to not damage the tooth holder or the new tooth. I ripped off the outer loop part that is next to the tooth by prying it away on both shoes, and then slipped a small flat blade screwdriver in to push the tooth back to clear the retaining mechanism (don't damage the retaining mechanism/receiver) , while pulling on the wheel part with my fingers (or another screwdriver). It popped off fairly easily, with a firm pull, on each L/R, on the first pull. As you pull and pry, do consider the tooth, you don't want to damage the part that snaps around the tooth, because that is what will secure your new boa. Slip your extra thin, small flat blade screwdriver in just under the wheel, gently create a tiny bit of space for the old tooth to slip past and pull the wheel of the old boa (but don't pry hard or you will break the retainer). You want to pry under the old wheel, prying away from the shoe to lift the old boa. So, that's what you wanted to know. Ride on.

James Brant: and so how do you remove one to place it elsewhere?

Mitchell Sands: How do u take it off

Abbey Robinson: How do you take it off????

Alain Pfaeffli: I paid for it even if it’s less than 2 years old

Marc Van Delft: Removal?

DaveoAU: Clean your shoes!

javabk: what's the point of showing unboxing, and missing the removal of the existing system! just dump..

pzeus11: He starts the video with the boa aloready off....

Randy McIntosh: Removal?

Claudio Maria Fusto: Stanni fitennu sti scappi.

mbiker7: Title is misleading.

Gareth Newton: Why didn’t you show how to take off...

Kev: Why would someone need a boa system on tiny ass shoes? I thought they only existed on snowboard boots that are notoriously hard to lace tightly. Not these little things shoelaces seem far superior

lagunners: BOA is complete trash. Dial fell off and wont go back on

Anne Gorby: O1q
