How To Use The Quicklace System | Salomon How To

The Salomon Quicklace System and lace pocket has been a patented design for more than 10 years. Using it is easy, as Trail Running Product Line Manager Edouard Coyon explains.

How to Use the Salomon Quicklace System

1. Use the laces to tighten each “arm” around your foot uniformly, keeping the lace pocket unobstructed so you can access it

2. Pull the lace tightly by sliding the “buckle” down to your foot until it is as tight as you want

3. Tuck the excess lace and the buckle up inside the pocket on the tongue of the shoe

4. Go run somewhere fun

To Untie

1. Take the excess Quicklace and the buckle out from the pocket

2. Hold the end of the lace so it is taught and away from the shoe

3. Squeeze the “S” button on the buckle and slide the buckle away from the shoe to loosen the laces

4. Remove your shoe and grab a drink

So it's pouring right now and I'm just making a video outside like hiring locally on the product manager for training. I work here for Salomon, I'm here on the rooftop of Salomon. My office is just right here and my favorite mountain to run in is just right. Behind and we get a lot of questions about the quick lace so I'll demonstrate on the cents right, it's one of our new product super comfortable, all rounder trail running shoe. So when you put on new shoes, you want to tighten every single arm around your foot. So you get a very uniform fit then make sure you keep the lace book is clear, so you can whip it and tuck it in the pocket to untied your shoes. Get the leftover quick legs from the pocket press. The little button to end with the quick lace and then you can get out so the quick lace, together with the lace pocket having a seller one patent for over a decade, and this is how to use it on the best part, is even worse. In the rain

Perilous3D: The instructions on the tag that comes with the shoes are not very clear so I'm happy to have found this video. I did not even notice the little pockets to tuck the laces and button into. Thank you!

dzikirysio997: I like the shoes. I love the pocket. But the quicklace system wears out quickly which means I get a lot of frustration as the shoes become loose during any run after around 200 km of running. The previous pair had exactly the same issue. The idea behind the system was good, but the execution makes it ABSOULTELY UNACCEPTABLE. I'd switch to regular laces + lace pocket anytime, but I don't have the option.

Sandor Rendeczky: The Paramotor Community Loves Salomons! Best shoes I've ever owned! Great for launching and landing in a wide variety of environmental conditions!

atanas atanassov: I love Quicklace System, especially for ultra marathons, but always have problems with the last one, every time is so painfully tight, I really can"t figure out!

Keith Mc: I've had my Salomon trail shoes for a week. I was tucking the quick lace ends into the shoe before I saw this video. The quick lace instructions that came with the shoes must be for a different product. Other than that, the shoes are very well made.

Newcastle Portraits: I had 2 of these laces snap in consecutive fell races. One on my Fellcross and one on my Speedcross. Ruined both races for me as the shoes were loose for the rest of the race. Now they just sit in the cupboard as normal laces are too thick to thread through the holes. Shame really.

tunnis7us: just got my pair of salomons and didn't understood the 2 picture tag that has instuctions so this video made it clear now cheers :)

Gio C: Thanks for that video. Fortunately I'm not the only one that was wondering this. It is the first time I have had a quick lace trainer. My partner bought them for me and I just stared at the damned thing wondering where the surplus lace goes.. (almost sent them back) The instructions inside the box are terrible and don't explain this.

samattapol uttamayotin: Just wonder how we could make a heel lockdown with the quick lace system which we could not make a runner's knot?

Joel Anderson Gutierrez Janampa: Gracias .! Pensé que era de seguridad, casi cortó el pasador.

Copper Kettle: Thank you! Now I understand. But anyway, I'll just replace them with a normal lace now, that feels better to me

Steven C.: If the lock is broken just use a zip tie

MrDiggityaus: Thank god for youtube! I would never have known the pocket was there! Haha

Ingo Wende: Goodness, did we really need this instruction?? Btw, the quicklace system is great until it rips during an ultra and you realize no ordinary shoe laces will fit through these eyelets. That little button is also too flimsy for the gnarliest of trails and I also had one break already - glad I had a knife to cut the laces and knot them but it didn't provide stable tension anymore and had to be redone more than a few times on that run. I favor normal laces and carry always a spare for an easy fix.

Robin Garnier: Vraiment...des gens ont du mal a comprendre le principe du Quicklace...c'est encore plus simple que de faire un lacet classique :D

Eric Wade: What's the diameter of the quicklaces?

Don Barredora: The Quicklace System is the best! I practice martial arts barefoot and when I have to leave the dojo in a hurry, putting on and taking off my shoes quickly is very important. If it weren't for the Salomon shoes, I would have to wear uncomfortable Japanese Geta.

Free Up Life: I have it and I love it. it feels better, it looks better ;)

tinfoot2: The instructions that came with the shoe showed some kind of strap across the shoe that didn't exist. This video makes much more sense. Thanks.

Once Upon a Saga: It’s a great system! #SagaBingeWatchingSalomonTV

Whooky Woodlander: By the Sense Ride 4 the last string lays over the pocket. So you can not fix it very tide. But it’s ok so far.

Primordial_Rift: Felt like a fool it took me a while to figure out how to untie the quicklace system . He doesnt push the button. He slides the button up while pushing.

roncruiser: These laces always always always come loose. I find myself having to re-tighten the laces often during a hike. Shoes fit great but will never rely on this lacing system.

SnareMan: I just don't understand why the laces are SO LONG such that they even extend out past the front of the shoe.

DilbertMuc: Yeah, and after a summer of usage the quicklace clip doesn't hold anymore (the inner star wheel wears out) and the shoe becomes loose after every 50m of running. What a crap! Actually the quicklace works best if you cut the kevlar lace, throw the whole set away and get some 100cm round normal shoe laces that hold the foot tight and comfortable. Did this on my 7 pairs of Salomon trail running shoes and Salomon Pilot inline skates and it just works forever. Just dump that quicklace junk...

ding174: Follow the directions. Tighten and then wrap the excess lace around the pull tab on the laces into a tight bundle before tucking it into the lace “garage”

Chris Cooper: Real shoe laces would be an improvement. Hate these quick lace systems. When they break, and they do, it sucks trying to replace them. Wish I could at least put regular shoe laces on them.

Alex Conseil: Super merci de France

landlash: yep it's make sense now :)

grwlngbxr27STi: "To loosen them..." just keep hiking. At least with boots, these loosen at the top and dig harder into the bottom portion of my foot on a rocky hike.

Bilal ahmad: Nice one

Internet For You: Love the shoes but the quicklace system sucks. Any idea why the lace becoming more and more loose the more I ran especially downhill. I have to like keep pulling the lace and lock it again multiple times in a run. I have Speedcross 5. Any advice?

BIJOU Skin Health Clinic: why would salomon complicate shoes laces?? and laces are cheap so they do not last

Upgrade Iself: I have worn my shoes 5 times and the plastic thing broke already. No I can buy a new pair for 10€? Are you kidding me?

J Leigh: Hah! On women's shoes it is much, much more difficult to cram that lace up in the little pocket.

Diane Slamp: THERE’S A POCKET!!!!

VIPUL AGRAWAL: Please launch online website for indian Salomon lovers.

Rick Anglada: I feel dumb not knowing about the pocket

DanGoodShot pewpew: What does that say about people when a video is needed to explain how to use shoelaces? Just sayin'

Reigate Robot: Before seeing this vid I was like “how do I send these back..”

Peaches Peaches: Hav had Solomon's for years. Nvr knew that pocket was there. Might not hav face planted while running or broke my quick laces

justalurkr: You made that man lace up in the rain? I hope you let him get a run!

Sam Ruben: You really need to add an option to use a regular lacing system. The quicklace system is slower than conventional laces and is less adjustable in tightness at different points on the tongue. It’s a shame because the shoes (Sense Ride 3) are nearly flawless except for Quicklace!

Ann Marie Raffis: Push, push, push and cannot get the laces to slide and open up. Almost took a pair of scissors to them to get out of them

L H: This is the biggest negative. I just got some sense ride 4s and the lacing system blocks the pocket? I'm cutting this gimmicky trash off and using real laces.

GoodGuyLuka: Lol there is pocket but I don't have button tho I press it hard nothing happens ( Salomon xa pro 3d)

Cuervo: Many thx

Ionescu Cristian: You thought a 20 sec video was too short, so why not tell us where you work and all that BS, right?...Who cares?

rmc: My first pair of Salomon shoes. Not impressed i had to YouTube it to find out how to tie the damn laces!! Instructions in the box are useless

KK Espadaz: just got my first pair of salomon quicklace and the slide down is pretty easy but the slide up button (to untie the shoes) doesn't work no matter how hard i press the S button i had to use both hands and squeeze it really hard i don't know if it's broken or it's just the way it is? does anyone have this problem?

Noelle Horton: I have three pairs of these and can't get them to unlock/untie for shit

В К: finally...

Trooper B.: Lacing system on the sense4 Pro is horrible! Laces are way to long, doesn't fit completely in the pocket and you have to put it in from above. Many times I had a pop out issue during a run of all the stuff the pocket can't host. This is damn dangerous when you're in technical difficult terrain, even more at night! Also the padding for the back of foot is not good, always have pain from the plastic of the lacing system that gives the pressure through the thin material. Big minus. I own some craft OCR shoes with quick lacing, no problems here. I think these were my last solomun shoes. To bad, because the shoe itself is pretty ok.

Jon Cooke: Over engineering. I absolutely love Salomon shoes - they are comfortable and durable. I hate this daft lace system.

Mcdougall Mountaineering: I don’t think that the Senseride4 has sufficient tongue sticking out to tuck the lace tightening mechanism under. Does Salomon agree? This is a very disappointing situation. I had speed cross 3 and 4 and had no such issues

xc3675: Plutôt nul, comme système. Ça doit être un Enarque qui a inventé ça (désolé pour les non français).

Renee Lombardi: The men's pocket must be larger than the women's. I tried a pair of speedcross 5's and the tightened laces came up over the pocket. It was impossible to pull the pocket up to insert the laces. The pocket was also too small to fit the plastic toggle.

Mike_J S: ohhhhhhhh...................

Peter Barker: Just bought a pair of speedcross 5s. My first Salomon shoes. Probably wouldn't have purchased had I paid more attention and realised it had these laces. If it ain't broken...

Deej Ohio: Can't STAND these laces. Shoe is ok, but what a stupid system just to tie a effing shoe. Just purchased the shoes a few hours ago and never noticed the lack of actual laces. I think I'm returning them to the store tomorrow morning for a different brand that actually makes sense.

Old Boy Overland: Literally the WORST and most frustrating thing of all time. Congrats, Saloman. Genuinely never buying any of your kit ever again, on principle.

feylong19: Could you do a video with someone that actually speaks English ? Ze French accent is very very strong and barely understandable. Merci de faire une vidéo avec un instructeur qui parle Anglais. On comprend qu'à moitié. Salutations du Danemark.
