How to lace shoes with “Straight Easy Lacing”, a simplified variation of “Straight Bar Lacing” where one end runs straight from bottom to top while the other end steps through the eyelets.

G'Day everyone Ian Fieggen here, also known as “Professor Shoelace”.. Today'S video is about “Straight Easy Lacing”.. Now this is a simplified version of “Straight Bar Lacing”, which I've shown you previously in which the laces run two at a time weaving up the shoe like that.. It'S a little bit convoluted and complicated, so “Straight, Easy Lacing” is a much simpler version.. Let'S show it to you. Now. I've got us set up here on a simple sneaker and .... I'Ve started with the lacing fed straight in through the bottom pair of eyelets.. Now the left end, I've got fairly short and the right end quite a bit longer, and the reason for that is that the left end begins by simply running straight up the inside and out through the top eyelet.. And that remainder is what you'll be tying your shoelaces with.. Now the right end feeds straight up the inside out through the next higher eyelet, then straight across on the outside and in through the adjacent eyelet.. In fact, that's what we do the whole time we just weave this right end all the way up the shoe., So we go straight up the inside once again straight across the outside in through the adjacent eyelet. Straight up the inside straight across the outside.. Now the downside of this is that one end travels a much greater distance than the other end and you'll find that over time, because they're different lengths like that, the different friction means that one end will gradually shift and get shorter than the other end. So you'll just have to re-adjust this every now and then.. Now, at the top of the shoe tie it off with your favourite knot., I'm using my “Ian Knot”, the world's fastest shoelace knot., And that's it “Straight ( Bar ), ”- “Straight, EASY Lacing”. I keep saying “BAR” because it again has a ... sequence of horizontal “bars”, like ... like the “Straight Bar Lacing”.. Now the other thing you'll notice that the ends are fairly long, just like “Straight Bar Lacing”.. If I compare it to “Criss Cross Lacing” you'll see why that ... with the “Criss Cross”, you have two segments for every pair of eyelets.. Here you only have one segment for every pair of eyelets. And that introduces a third problem, which is the fact that ... on shoes with seven [, odd ] pairs of eyelets. Well, here you go, you ..., run across and back and across and back and at the top of the shoe, you suddenly find that you've ended up with both ends on the same side, and you can't tie that. Can you So ...? In fact, I've got it on my website. You'Ll see .... This is “Straight, Easy, Lacing” and I'll. Just animate that for you. You can see the blue end sort of runs straight up the left side, while the yellow right end weaves through the eyelets and ... finishes the lacing.. Now, if I whizz down to the “Workarounds” section, you'll see ... here's a bunch of different workarounds for shoes with an odd number of eyelet pairs., And I won't go into any great detail. But you can run a diagonal or a crossover or .... You know run across and back or double it up through the top eyelets but ... Anyway. There are a bunch of workarounds for seven eyelets, but obviously six eyelet pairs gives you that neat finish. And .... So that's it “Straight, Easy Lacing”.! Ar Orakzai: Wow thank you sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Much Mr professor. I actually know how to do shoe laces but the problem i was facing was that while shoe lacing my joggers/ sneakers. Everytime i done lacing the sneakers got so hard and tight so i wasn't able to enter my foot or toe in that. Even sometimes i force my foot to enter and it even damages my sneakers. But finally after so long while doing shoe lacing in your way the sneakers got smooth. I can easily enter my foot in them. Once again thank you so much for this video ❤️
