How To Knit A Headband With A Twist | Knitting Tutorial

In this tutorial, I will show you how to knit a headband with a twist in English rib. It's a beautiful and warm accessory, that will keep your ears warm. It's also a fast and easy project to knit. This headband is knit back and forth, I knit in the Continental style, but you can easily knit in the English style - the pattern stays the same.

Written tutorial with pictures can be found in my blog here:

You can find them here: https://amzn.to/2J9GoHj

Tapestry needle

SIZE:

Adult fit, head circumference: 56-58cm (22"-22.5"). If you want to change the width - cast on more/fewer stitches, but a total stitch count must be a multiple of 3.

Thank you for watching,

Mirella!

Hello everyone today, I want to show you how to knit a headband with a twist. The twist is actually a great way to hide the scene. This headband is knit in the English rib back and forth for this project, I'm using a light, ørsted yarn and the 3.5 millimeter knitting needles. You can find all the information in the description box below let's begin loosely cast on 30 stitches, I'm using the longtail cast on method and I'm casting on over two needles. The first row is our foundation row. So we're going to yarn over slip. One stitch purlwise knit two together and repeat yarn over slip. One knit two together continue repeating until the end of the row and world 2 is very similar to row 1. You will be following the same pattern, so it's yarn over slip. One stitch purlwise knit two together once again: yarn over slip, 1 purlwise knit two together continue repeating until the end of the row and when the second row is finished, you're just going to repeat the pattern for another 50 centimeters or that's nineteen point five inches you. When you're finished with the band, we can bind off we're going to bind up loosely and I'm going to Co, purl the purl stitches and B yarn overs and I'm going to knit the knit stitches. So let's begin we're going to purl the first stitch proba yarn over and when we have two stitches on the right needle we're going to insert the left needle into the first stitch and bring it over the second one. Now we're going to knit the knit stitch and again bring the first stitch over the second one. Next one is the purl stitch, so we're purling that I'm bringing the first stitch over the second one and you're just going to repeat that till the end of the row when you're finished cut the yarn, leaving a 40 centimeter long tail, that's about 12 inches and Fold the tail for that last stitch. Now, let's form the twist away your bend down and fold it in half bring the edges closer together, rotate one of the edges and now we're going to make a sandwich we're going to open up those edges a little bit and we're going to insert one of The edges into the other one straighten everything and we can sell the edges together with the yarn tail and the needle stitch through all the four layers of our headband, the seams going to be hidden inside the headband. So of course be accurate. But you don't have to be perfect, so you just go down and then you go back up. This is how the finished seam looks like and when you turn your headband the right side out, then you have your twist now. It'S love to we leaned the end. Wash your husband and flat dry it on a towel. Thank you for watching this. Video was helpful. Please don't forget to Like comment and subscribe. See you the next videos

Hannah Krüger: Love this pattern! So easy and beautiful Hope there will be more videos coming!

Elisa Kuratli: I never understood how this kind of twist worked, thank you so much for explaining it so clearly! The end result is beautiful, I will definitely try it!!

Teagan Van Alstyne: Hey! I just made this and it turned out great! Such a simple project yet it brought me so much joy and I can’t wait to make more for my friends and family!!!!❤️

Zhadyre: I made this headband quite of few times now, i love it! Thank you for the tutorial

Kirsty Olivier: Just discovered this tutorial, and it is fantastic. Thank you. I'm looking forward to giving this a try!

Sônia Mól: Lindo e fácil, e você está de parabéns ! Pois é muito calma e esplica bem , obrigada

gaylemae: I’ve made 5 of these and they turned out great! I much prefer it to be 20” long, so it feels better on my head. Also when binding off, I started by k2tog then purled the next stitch, etc., then I knit the last 2 stitches together. It made the bind off a bit thicker so it didn’t have a hole at the corners. Thank you SO much! It’s soft, flexible, warm and also makes a great neck warmer when you pull it down. I also made a few stitches on each side of the twist after seaming to keep it staying flat so it doesn’t get accidentally put on with the seam on top

Brandie A.H: Beautiful headband!! I'll be making one later today

Deanna Mccloud: This pattern was hard for me to do as a beginner so if there are any beginners out there wanting to achieve a similar pattern do the following: cast on 30 stitches P2, K1, P2, K1, P2, K1... then pearl the pearls and knit the knits. You'll get almost the identical pattern but its just easier to handle when you are just starting. Happy knitting!

Anna Klijn: Thank you so much for this tutorial! It was really very clear, you are great

Sugar Magnolia: Absolutely beautiful!!! Love the color of your nails, and the headband!

Melanie G: Thank you so much. Terrific tutorial. I just followed along and made a little extra Christmas gift for my daughter!

Donna Stuart: I started my headband last night and finished it today. It's so easy and it looks fabulous!!!! Thanks!!!!

A B: Thanks a lot for the guidance! I used a different pattern for my headband, but then I stitched two ends in a twist as you are showing. I think 30 stitches make the headband too wide, around 20-25 should be enough.

aeshna777: What a lovely pattern! I am definitely doing this headband! :) Thank you, Mirella!

ThriftyThreader: Beautifully made tutorial! Would love to see you do this in a two color English rib. How would the edge stitches differ, in order to get symmetry?

Linda-Laura N.: Thank you for this tutorial, I've finally understood how to make the brioche stitch.

Mar: This headband looks so lovely, one of the best looking ones I've come across! Will brave this pattern; I'm comfortable knitting and purling but have never attempted a pattern with a yarn over. I suspect I'll be watching your video a lot. Thank you for including clear visual representation both in your pictures and in your video! I'm very much a visual learner so seeing the video has made things a lot clearer. I'm thinking of buying the yarn you bought. I was wondering if you only went through one ball or more?

Thea Rodriguez: Brilliant tutorial - thank you!

Megan M: Hi! I'm looking forward to trying to knit this headband as one of my first projects. I'm new to knitting so please forgive me if this is a silly question. I was wondering if this could be made with other kinds of stitches as well, so that multiple headbands wouldn't all be exactly the same? And if so, do you have any recommendations (I imagine they would have to be reversible stitches)? I apologize if this is like one of those comments on recipe blogs where the person wants to change so much it wouldn't even be the recipe anymore! Thank you :)

MAHA AHMED: I love it thank you

Susi Hernández: Hermosa diadema la voy a tejer y luego os comento gracias por estos videos ojala y nos lo pongan traducido al español un abrazo

Szendify: Hi! This is wonderful, it really gave back my enthusiasm as it is rather easy and the result is stunning. Your video is perfect for beginners like me. However, I accidentally dropped a stitch and I could not figure out how to fix it...I had to start it again from the beginning. Do you have any video, or can you maybe link one on how to fix this exact pattern you use and have the needle correctly back in the row? I only found videos about correction with the English style knitting of this pattern. Is the fix the same with your knitting way of the pattern as well? Thanks a lot in advance. ☺️

Samantha: Amazing video, thank you!❤️ will be knitting this tmmrw

Julia: This is perfect--I can't believe experienced knitters are having difficulties with this. Thank you so much for sharing!

Marlene Costa dos Santos: Adorei

Mansvi Kweera: It's really easy and wonderful

Jiae愛: Cast on 30 stitches with two needles yarn over, slip one stitch purl wise, K2 together *do it until 50cm or 19.5inch Bind off: purl the purl, knit the knit Thank you!

Mridula Khurana: It is really beautiful and method is well explained,I made it for all the girls of my family

Claire Johnson: Very well done, makes me feel I could make this. Thanks for the confidence boost. (Also, I always have the closed captions on because I miss things otherwise. At the end, it says "wash your husband" ... LOL ... instead of headband. Thought that was actually funny in a good way.)

Ruslana Izaitka: Thanks you so much for this video

Kitty-Chan🖤: Simply amazing

Bernadette Enriquez: I love this pattern! But since I’m using a different size of yarn and needles, what’s its width?

Lynda Baker: Love this pattern but needed the tutorial. I used expensive textured yarn so used stocking stitch instead.

KraftyLynne: Terrific video. Thank you.

hunny: I'll make this for my grandma for christmas. Thanks!

Joy Gonzalez: Hello, thank you for this wonderful free pattern and tutorial! I have made a bunch now and they are a hit with everyone. Can you please clarify something for me though? Is the English rib the same as Brioche? People keep saying they love my Brioche and I’m like...no it’s the English rib

Felicia Abrahamsson: Hi! Beautiful pattern! How many stitches would you use to make it fit a child that’s 2 years old? Thank you

I have one question: it looks like the fisherman's rib pattern, but that one is made differently (more difficult at least for me) and the results are similar... Is it the same pattern or not? I have been thinking about it, can someone more experienced help me? Thanx
