Let'S Talk: Keratin Treatment On Natural Hair? Can It Be Used On Previously Chemically Treated

I received a request to talk about keratin treatment. This is something i have not talked about on this channel, so we are going to tackle it. Today'S video is sponsored by dossier. I know about keratin treatments from my experience, the question that came in was: can you do a video all about keratin treatments for natural hair? I remember you saying this: was the tape on your flat iron, it's from girl. Can you read girl girl? Can you read? Do you recommend it for a relaxer alternative? I i don't even know what video it was on, but i remember getting a notification and the young lady was like this is all great information, but are you even licensed to be giving this information out? Ma'Am is licensed in the state of maryland, as you can see it does say april sunny is, is, is this um enough for you guys that are passing by whatever, whatever girl? Okay? So this is a requested video i just want to let you guys know. I have only used one brand because i like to find things that work for a broad range of people when i was working in the salon and we used the marcia chocolate treatment. This is the one i enjoy. This is the one that smells amazing love it. Okay, so keratin treatments are also known as brazilian blowouts, so a brazilian blowout is basically a professional grade chemical treatment that is done in a salon, it is to add shine. Tame frizz help your hair to be more manageable and easier to detangle during wash day. Okay. It does it's also supposed to help give your hair a straighter look, so it will um. If you have like 4c, really tight hair, it just makes it more manageable. It does not straighten your hair. Okay, this is not a relaxer. This is not a relaxer. Please understand that so, depending on the treatment you use and depending on how you take care of it at home, your treatment can last up to six months a girl people. They do have at home treatments. So yes, it's professional grade, but they do have at home treatments that you can do at home as well, but the chocolate treatment that we used at our salon. This would last three to five months, depending on how you take care of it at home. So when you get home, you really should be using like a sulfate free shampoo. How do you use it? Use it as directed it will come with directions. Results will vary person to person, because each person's head is different. I actually really enjoy keratin treatments. The chocolate treatment that we use, what we we started using that because this was at the height of you, know the curl nation. Okay, don't use the creamy crack nation. We were already using it on some of the white girls that had like a little the tiniest little waves and they're like oh. I got this little curl here, i'm like girl girl, it's just a curl girl and it wasn't even though curl it was like the slightest little wave and they're like oh, my hair is so frizzy. I need a brazilian blowout, whatever girl at the height of the no creamy crack movement um, the girls were looking for something that was going to help them manage their curls and that's where the chocolate keratin treatment came from. We started using that now. The chocolate one is recommended for extremely tight and curly hair, but it can be used on all hair types that are medium texture to very coarse or resistant, and it was very, very helpful for the girls. Okay. It was easier to blow dry, their hair out. Their hair was just more manageable. This particular treatment was chosen by the salon owner because it's just really good, for you know: coarser resistant, textured, hair, it's really moisturizing, so can it be used on relaxed hair? Would i recommend it on relaxed hair? This treatment can be used on any previously chemically treated hair. Yes, it can only if your hair and scalp is in a very healthy condition. Okay, people who bleach their hair, which is still a very harsh chemical um, use keratin treatments, so it definitely can be done. I just personally have not done it. Okay, as far as the tape, i absolutely love the magic tape. Okay, it has lasted me so long. Actually, let me go get it girl. Let me go ghee, i'm actually due to buy some new tape because, as you can see, the edges are lifting. I don't know if you can see inside, but it's kind of burnt and it's it's a little ripped in there. I'Ve never had a brazilian treatment on my hair, but i absolutely love using the tape. It does not leave any iron marks in your hair. It evens out the heat on the plate, it locks in moisture and it enhances shine. It helps to reduce dehydration of your hair and the tape itself will last about three to seven months. It depends on how often you're using it. So, of course, when i was in the salon, i was changing it a lot more, but now that i'm just using it for personal use girl, i go all the way to seven months. I do like this. This really really lasts me because i do not use. I do not flat iron my hair, that much this tape is a great purchase. You know for anyone, absolutely anyone, i love it. I will recommend it a million times over, so i'm gon na go ahead and purchase some new tape. All of the links are gon na be in the description box down below as well as my look today. If i can find some links because some of the clothes i wear is oh girl, there ain't no links to them. So do i think you should use keratin treatments. I feel like a lot of you. Don'T have a problem with your natural hair. You act, you actually love your natural curls and you love the look of it. The the issue is manageability in time, which i feel like a keratin treatment would help with yeah. If you're using the right, the right formula and system for your hair and your hair type, then i feel like the keratin treatment would be very, very much beneficial to you. So you know try before you go back to the creamy crap. Okay, try! Yes, i do recommend naturals to try the keratin treatment before just hopping into getting a relaxer. You may not need a relaxer. You just may have needed some help with manageability. You know so with that being said, is there anything else? I wanted to talk to my people about yes, like you, can't get your keratin treatment and then be like oh dye. My hair, no you're gon na have to wait. You'Re gon na have to wait at least two to three weeks. Go back in get your color. If you know your schedule for your keratin treatment - and you are due to get your hair dyed schedule to get your hair dyed, wait two to three weeks get your keratin treatment. Do it that way put some space in between it because keep in mind. This is still a chemical treatment, no matter how you want to put it. It'S still. A chemical treatment just make sure you're using a sulfate free shampoo at home. If you can get your hands on that, brand's, shampoo and conditioner do so, because the system works, their um hair care system works best together again, this is not a relaxer. So when you have some new growth right, you're not gon na go in for a touch-up with a keratin treatment. When you go back in for your keratin treatment, it is done the same way. It was done initially, it is from root to end this system can be repeated as often as needed. So say. Your system says that it will last up to six months, but the way you take care of your hair does not allow the longevity of the system. You got a good three months out of it, but you can tell that you know the effects of the keratin treatment is wearing off and and you're only three months in you can definitely go back in for your keratin treatment or, if you're doing it at home. You can definitely do it again. It'S not like you have to wait the duration of the six months. If it has the longevity of it, has worn off at three months. You can redo it at three months. You can do it as you need to do it, and so, once you have your keratin treatment done, make sure when you get home you're, not using any styling products, at least three to four days after you have gotten your keratin treatment, and that is because most Styling products have alcohol or other stripping ingredients in it that can mess with the longevity of your treatment. So you don't want to disturb the treatment. Okay, you know: do your own research find whatever treatment that you want to use and then do your research on that particular treatment on how to best care for your hair? I think that's it.
