Hey girlfriends, I'm Bianca nein you watching Bianca Renee today and today, just might be one of the most important curly hair videos. You will ever watch, especially if you're new to the curly girl world and that is choosing the best styler for you and your hair. So many of you are just grabbing stylers that say curly on it and then you're wondering why your hair isn't looking the way you want or why this product isn't meeting your curly hair needs. So I'm going to break it all down today, because some of you are using leave-in conditioners wondering why your here is frizzy. Some of you are using oils wondering why it's not moisturizing your hair. Some of you need that extra moisture and you're using gels wondering why your hair is crunchy. I'M gon na solve all of your problems. Right now, so sit back, relax and you might want to take notes. I really only want to get into stylers today, but just a little side note. I hope you know that shampoo is used to cleanse your scalp. You know make sure your hair is clean, but mainly your scalp, and that a conditioner is more for the length of your hair to give your hair moisture and help you detangle, then after you get out the shower, that's when things get a little more complicated. So, let's start off with leave-in conditioners: this is probably the most miss conceptualized hair product. There is because a lot of you will get out the shower. You'Ll apply a leave-in, conditioner and walk out the door like a real washing go. Some of you that might work, for there are some leave-in conditioners that are good at taming frizz, keeping your hair shiny, blah blah blah, but that's technically not the job of a leave-in conditioner. A leave-in conditioner is literally a conditioner. You leave-in, meaning you don't wash it out. A leave-in conditioner can be used in the shower as you detangle and then you just get out the shower. You don't rinse it out or you could use your shampoo, your conditioner and then out and then apply a leave-in conditioner, especially if you're rinsing out the conditioner. A leave-in conditioner will allow you to keep that moisture in your hair without having to rinse it out without having to worry about any type of product buildup on your scalp. If it's silicone free, of course now to prove this to you, we're gon na do what's called reading. I know crazy concept. A lot of you guys don't like to read when most of the answers are: smack dab right on the bottle on the back of the bottle in my description box and my caption, but you guys hate those. So here I have the Camille rose: lavender, whipped, cream, leave-in conditioner. I'Ve never used this. As you could see, it's fully loaded cuz. I just really don't use leave-in conditioners, but this one is silicone free. If you guys are looking for a silicone free leave-in, but I'm gon na just read the label, it says that this product is used to soften detangle and moisturize strands. That'S exactly what a leave-in should do, it does not say, has great hold, it does not say. Will prevent frizz? It does not say anything else, because the leave-in conditioner is not a frizz fighting styler, it's just step one out of the shower. Another example is the Shea Moisture tea tree oil, low porosity protein free leave-in, detangler key word: leave-in detangler, so this one is really claiming to help you to tank your hair because they stuck it in the title. They were so confident about it. It says that it's supposed to provide lasting moisture without surface build-up. It will leave hair smooth with a healthy shine. Nowhere in this description does it say it's going to prevent frizz or have any hold, and that's fine, because that is the only job of a leave-in make it shiny make it moisturize, make it a little bit easier to detangle. Now, if you are looking for something to help, combat the frizz and make sure your hair doesn't I'll fluffy by the end of the day, you need to apply an actual curly hair styler, which could be like one of these, for example, the Shea Moisture, coconut and Hibiscus curl enhancing smoothie. It says this is supposed to reduce frizz, define curls, smooth hair for soft and silky feel, because this is one of my favorite cream stylers. I can say that that is true and it does do all of those things another one might be. The diva curl super cream, another personal favorite of mine. It says to define and control looking to give your curls frizz free touchable hold that's what we're looking for. This is the recessed curls curl, defining cream creates bouncy shiny, frizz, free voluminous curls defines and holds without leaving hair crunchy. That is the most beautiful description. I'Ve ever read it's exactly what most of us curly people are looking for. We want all of those things. It is on the bottle, definitely go with it, because that's what it's claiming to do if it is not claiming to fly first, don't get mad at it for not fighting your frizz. So if you want, you could use a leave-in conditioner first to get that extra moisture if you're, very dry hair and then apply a styler, a frizz fighting styler on top of it step. 1 styler, step 2. If your hair is already moisturized, because your deep conditioning once a week - or maybe you just don't - have very dry hair in general, you might be able to skip the leave-in conditioner like. I personally do - and this goes straight for your style errs all on its own and all of these work great on their own, and I don't think there's any need to combine them if you are using two or three creams that are claiming to all. Do the same thing: why, if it's claiming to do the job, let it do the job and if it's not it's, just not a good product, try something else! So if you aren't going to be cocktailing something you could do a leave-in, a cream or a cream and a gel or a leave-in and a gel, but you don't need to be using more than one type of cream styler, it's just unnecessary. Now. I also recommend using a styling cream if you're, someone that has very dry hair and you need that extra moisture or you're someone that hates hold-hold is what we call that slight crunch or hardness. That holds your curl pattern together. I personally love hold because hold means. I'M gon na be able to hold this look. This curl pattern all week long and I need that hole to last you throughout the week and I need that hold to help me diffuse without creating frizz. But if you just hate the crunch, you hate any stiffness. You want your curls to be as soft as possible. Just use a cream, but if you are like me and you like hold that's when I would bring out the gels and usually even a mousse now sometimes mousse can give you different types of results. My personal favorite, as you guys should know by now, is the not your mother's curl, tock mousse. This baby right here will give me hold definition and shine all week. Long and stay with my other two favorites Tyler's in the whole wide world is the curl keeper ultimate frisk, control gel, which actually claims to fight frizz, even in humid areas for those who live in humid areas and my other favorite, the dippity-do girls with curls jelly. So, let's select Marshalls froley $ 5.99. Now these products right here as amazing as they are from my curls like these - are my three favorites Tyler's ever they will create a slight cast, which is another word for hold, which is another easier word for crunch on your curls. I like that whole because it lets me know: hey we're a little hard right now, but when you diffuse we're not gon na get frizzy, because we're kind of stiff and in place so we're gon na give you that volume and then you could just scrunch your Curls like this, and that will break the cast as you do this just with your hands or as you do this with diffuser, it's gon na make your curls even softer, and then that cast is gone, but you had that first initial hold that you needed to Get to that place. I hope that makes sense not with me if you're following me, so far, okay, good now! On the contrary, if your hair is extremely dry and you're using a mousse or a gel and you're wondering why your hair is so hard. Well, that's because gels aren't used for moisture darling, stop their fault. It'S yours, for example, this bottle reads that it's gon na have ultimate holding power without flakiness. It'S going to give you support for any hairstyle for several days and will leave no product buildup. This is not claiming to add or give your hair any moisture and that's fine, because that's not the job of the gel, the dippity-do girls with curls jelly, it's good for shaping, smoothing and separating your curls and help eliminate frizz no wear on the bottle. Does it say it's going to add moisture and that's fine now, one of the last things that I have to explain to you guys is oils. So many of you are applying all of this oil on your hair, because your hair is dry and you're, assuming that oil is gon na like grease it up. Well, you're, not a car darling we're not gon na just lube up the way you do your motor. Our curls are a little bit more gentle and that's because there's different types of oils, I have a whole video on oil, so I will link it below in the description box. So we don't go over at all again today, but there are two types of oils: there's penetrating oils and there's sealing oils. The penetrating oils will actually penetrate into your hair, which can result in giving you more moisturize curls. For example, coconut oil, olive oil or avocado oil are just three examples of oils that will penetrate into your hair. These are also gon na, be the ones are most useful to apply to your scalp, because it's actually going to absorb into your scalp and moisturize your scalp and/or. Your hair now sealing oils sealing oils, help to lock in that moisture and actually sit on top of the hair. These do not penetrate into the hair shaft, so they're, really just adding some shine and locking in the moisture that's already in there so think about it. Like this first, you would apply your leave-in conditioner, or maybe your hair mask, because now your hair is filled with the moisture now to make sure that that doesn't come out. You want to close the door and lock it in there and that's where sealing oils would come in handy because it's going to kind of coat the hair and make it shiny. Now I know it's some of y'all are thinking the wheels are turning this ceiling on sitting on top of the hair. Cuticle thing sounds pretty similar to silicone, which is true, contrary to what many of you believe in you think that I just hate silicone, even though it does nothing from my hair. I don't need it. I don't miss and I think my curls look just fine. It'S going on your business is my hair, not yours, um, but oils are gon na, be a little bit more easier to rinse out than these stronger non-water soluble silicones, but jojoba oil jamaican black, castor oil, grapeseed oil. These are all examples of oils that do not penetrate the hair shop. They just sit on top and add some extra shine. So if you have a really dry, scalp and you're wondering why these oils aren't like helping moisturize your scalp, it's because they're not getting in there they're just sitting on top looking shiny and every oil has different benefits, way more benefits than a plasticy silicone would because These are more natural ingredients and that's kind of why I personally don't apply sealing oils to my hair ever now. Of course, there are gon na be some exceptions to the rules. For example, the can chew moisturizing curl activator cream. This is claiming to be a moisturizing cream, so I could see why you would get this and expect your curls to be moisturized. My experience, because the best way to know if a product works for you is to use it on your hair, which I have done, and this actually does have great hold any product that has hold that kind of gets hard or crunchy. I wouldn't really recommend for moisture, because it's kind of getting hard and moisture usually means your curls are soft. Now, although I love this product because it does create hold, this is not a product out recommend to give your hair moisture the can'tyou, coconut curling cream, for example, that one is just straight up. Moisture. Probably why I don't really like that one, because I need some type of hold which the activator gave me so once again the exception to some of the rules. It says moisturizing on here, but it's not that moisturizing. Another example will be the Shea Moisture miracle. Styler leave-in treatment, this one is a leave-in conditioner, but it's also claiming to be a styler so because it says both I could definitely see how some of you would use this all on its own as your styler and as your leave it and have beautiful results Without having to add another cream or gel, so the more the story is reading is key. Reading is going to be the greatest first step in deciding which product you should use. Of course not every product is gon na live up to its expectations on the bottle, and some are gon na work for you and some art, but at least now, when you go to the store or you order new products, you know not to order a gel For moisture, or not to order a leave-in for frizz fighting hold it's just wrong. As always, my personal recommendation would be to find products that are sulfate paraben and silicone free, also, three words that are commonly found right on the bottle. If not, you might have to do some digging within the ingredients, but it'll be there have a whole video on how to read the back the labels. If you guys need help, I would use a leave-in for moisture a styling cream for styling and a gel for hold and definition and only use oils when necessary. If you enjoyed this video, make sure you give me a thumbs up and subscribe, I post to new videos every week once on Friday and once on Sunday and make sure your bad belts are notified. As soon as I post, a new video, I give you guys daily tips on my Instagram in my Instagram story, so also follow me on instagram at Miz. Bianca, Rene I'll, see you guys next time, thanks for watching Bianca Rene today,

Sailorette Sails: I’m the person who only uses leave-in conditioner and wonders why my hair is so frizzy all the time. I was blaming Florida weather but I realize it’s not just humidity. Thanks Bianca ! Lol

Jadyn Davis: Bianca looks like a curly hair referee today

Amanda Ensing: I feel attacked this video was really helpful!

Ava Leonard: "Gels aren't used for moisturizer, darling. It's not their fault.. it's yours." Damn ok. Lemme just sit back down.

Salma M.: Dear Bianca, I’m a 17 year old Saudi girl with type 3a hair who grew up hating my curly hair. I had this idea instilled in my brain that curly hair was ugly, and straight hair was beautiful and luscious. I used to get my hair chemically treated and straightened all the time. My hair shed a lot, I went through a lot of chemical damage and breakage, and later learned that chemical treatments could cause serious side effects. After years, I finally decided to stop chemically treating my hair. But, at that point, I didn’t know how to take care of curly hair, since I was accustomed to treating my hair as if it were straight. I became so insecure about my hair which was a frizzy mess and kept crying thinking I was born with untamable hair. I almost went back to chemical treatments. But, one day, my father and brother convinced me to do a little bit of research on my hair type, suggesting that I might have been taking care of my hair in an incorrect manner. So, I decided to take their advice, and stumbled upon one of your videos around a few months ago. Ever since then, everything has changed. Not only did you teach me how to take care of my hair, but more importantly, you taught me how to love and appreciate my curly hair. I’m now a curly hair enthusiast :D Thank you so much, Bianca, for giving me this wonderful opportunity to embrace my hair. I’m still on my transitioning journey, and I’m still experimenting and learning new things, but I’m so thankful I decided to watch one of your videos one day, and so thankful to you for helping me embark on this lovely journey. Love you!!! <3

Erin Williams: I love the curl talk mousse and their defining cream. I find a lot of the jar creams to be too heavy and don't absorb so I'm glad I tried the curl talk line

Meh: I use a leave-in, style cream, and a gel to seal it all in. And my curls are way more behave. It's a lot of work, but my hair is not a one product deal it needs extra attention <3Reading the label helped a shit ton

Martha Penner: 3 months into my curly hair journey and that means I have binged watched literally every single curly hair video but you explain it so well ! I can definitely say I feel more confident with applying my products

Kylie Browne: I feel so proud that I already know all about these things... Thanks to binge watching ALL of her videos for years.

Jackie Sanchez: “Now to prove this to you...were gonna do this thing called...READING.” Bianca SNAPPED Open a book y’all

Ange N.O.: I ‍♀️ also use the non-penetrating oils to break the gel cast or soften it. WORKSEVERY TIME

Kindle Van Heerden: Ever since I’ve been following Bianca’s tips/advice I’ve seen such promising results. I’ve still got a long way to go but with Bianca on this journey with me I’m excited to have healthy curly hair. Thank you for teaching me to love my curls again and sharing you knowledge. You are appreciated .

shelly figuereo: Thanks for talking through the purpose of each product, I feel like a lot of people have misconceptions about this. Personally, I use homemade flaxseed gel with a leave in or cream; any other product will just let my hair get frizzy in a few days. Out of your favorite stylers, which ones would you say give that lasting, structured feeling to the hair? Even after I scrunch out the crunch from flaxseed gel, it still holds its shape for up to a week.

x. J9: Bianca, you’ve taught me so much throughout my curly hair journey & I appreciate you forever for that ‍ love you, curl friend ❤️

Char: Thank you so much for all of your videos Bianca!!! I've been transitioning to my natural hair after a whole decade of getting it chemically straightened, and your channel, videos, energy, smile, sense of humor, everything really , are making this whole (daunting) process just a little bit less overwhelming. Thank you for your videos and sharing dat curl knowledge girl! My curls have been revived from the afterlife and I feel like a queen wearing my healthy curls with pride. No more frizz-halo for me

Aloha Adri: Omg I'm so embarrassed with myself...totally been doing the leave in conditioner then walking out the door method smh...never again lol I needed this video so badly! thank you

Sabrina Gaynor: I just tried the Curl Talk mousse recently thanks to you, and I love it! It gives me great hold and curl definition, and I can use it on its own without a leave in or cream.

U: Your entire channel is the reason I started taking care of my hair. My curls have never looked better! Thank you Bianca!

Jasmine Mendoza: Thank you so much for explaining everything in great detail. I have been struggling for 8 years with my daughter's curly hair & I did not realize I was using the wrong shampoo, conditioner & hair products until I came across your page & watched several of your educational curly hair videos.

Jenifer Norris: This was sooooooo helpful. Finally!! Someone who makes hair products clear!

Shanira: She's wearing a referee top, she's half way through pregnancy, and her tone is strong. Y'all just need to read and stop getting mad at products that aren't making claims that YOU want them to.

MissVanessaIves1892: I've been in the curly hair world since 2016 so I already knew AAAALLL of this. I've read A LOT of articles, watched A LOT of videos, thanks to you and Penny Tovar (Curly Penny), I learned to read and identify product labels not relying on what it says on the front. My mom has curly hair too and I'm starting to tell her what she's doing wrong and I'm getting her into natural products as well. I no longer use anything with chemicals, I use all natural products in hair AND skin care. Okay, novel done

Christian Bowles: Love this! Everyone’s curls are different. Some can get by on just a leave-in. Some just need a gel or cream. Some need both or even all 3. It should be right on the label what it does. Read and experiment. Awesome video

Kourtney Walsh: this is actually the clearest, most understandable curl product video i’ve ever seen. love the info and your personality is my absolute favorite :)

Just Shanie101: I love the Cantu curl activator cream! I use it by itself sometimes for my twist outs.

Trish Magilke: This is the most helpful video ever! My curls are struggling lately after getting it highlighted. It’s been super dry so I think I need to be more diligent about weekly deep conditioning and maybe trying coconut oil. Thanks!!

Skye Turner: I’m so glad my front curls came through and would NEVER stay straight cuz it made me come here and now I know I have 2c-3a hair, I was just damaging it and it needed the tlc it gets now. My hair is so soft and is so much healthier with curly products and a new hair care routing. It look and feels so good and it makes me feel good. Girls trust me it’s worth it, go treat yourself. You will look and feel so much better, if you don’t first try then experiment with different products. Love your hair, and love yourself!

Digna’s View: Bianca!!! Just when I think I got this curly live style figured out, you teach me something else. LOVED the video, súper straight to the point and VERY useful. Gracias!!!

sensible socialite: Hi Bianca. This was a great video, u broke it down for us non label reading folks lol. I recently found out something thats been helpful for my low porosity curls and has been preventing build up on my hair while adding moisture. I used to use very heavy moisturizing creams because thats what I assumed would give me more moisture. Nope!! They could not penetrate my curls, but I save money cause I just put a few globs of those creams in my spray bottle and add warm water and turn them into a DIY leave-in. My results have been amazing moisturized curls. I get more days of moisture, less build up, shine and I only have to go over it with a gel. So 2 products and i didn't even have to spend more money. #Winning #HappyCurls

Elyse Z: I have a mixture of four hair types (2b, 2c, 3a, & 3b). At first I didn’t know how to take care of my hair but now I’m getting better at it thanks to your videos! Thank you so much!

Alana: Love your videos my hair is the healthiest since I started watching your videos. My hair combo is cream styler, gel, mousse and it works for me and last the week

Michelle: Thank you Bianca! I needed this! I am 4 months into my transitioning journey and have no clue what to do except wash my hair and deep condition once a week.

A: Just starting my curly hair journey ! This was very helpful

Cash Fountain: I can’t be the only person who nod when she said nod with me. Y’all Nod with Bianca

Nicole E: Girl, you truly are the hair guru. You've taught me everything I know. Much love from

Ellen McKeehan: I’m starting to wear my natural curls and all the products are overwhelming. Thank you for explaining all of this and making it easy to understand.

Ash Marie: Such a helpful video!! thank you so much Bianca. I've been doing things wrong for the past 5 years lol

Gena Marie: PREACH Love how well you simplified this for everyone.

Mary Jane xo: I've been transitioning from my Chemically straightened hair and it's been a challenge and still a lot of learn and discover about my 3c type curls. But the habits/ routines that I've changed helped a lot! One was getting silk pillows. And the biggest difference made for my curls is Microfiber Hair Towel. Helped my frizz a lot and also drying my hair normally takes forever but its cut to half! And the curls are a lot more defined, I've got mine from Amazon a brand called Maria Beau https://www.amazon.com/mariabeau . It's great quality! You girls have to try it out <3

Serenity Flores: Omg I am so glad I found your channel...sadly I just turned 28 this month and am still struggling to understand my hair I used to was my hair and leave in the conditioner with either Pantene, dove, Garnier, Herbal Essence, Suave. And I would rotate them every 6 months and it seemed to work. But my hair seems to be damaged and I did like to straighten my hair especially while I was pregnant cuz it just made it easier. Now it's even more so easier because I have a son with special needs. So my curly hair routine has been really lacking even from the get-go I seriously need help. Try as she might my mom was awesome but she just didn't understand textured curly hair. And I have not ever been around anyone that really has my type of hair before so it's even harder to understand all of this especially because none of the hairdressers hair stylist touch my hair. I'm all on my own. Please help me if you can.

Jnai Peikert: Your videos are always so helpful thank you Bianca. I wrote down many notes to help myself❤️❤️❤️❤️

Danelia Ventura: Thank you so much for all your amazing and helpful videos. I had learn so much. I just had a hair cut last week, and I'm so Happy with my natural curls. Thank you for sharing and helping us.

Amazinglynn: I swear it takes me twice as long to shop for hair stuff because I gotta read the ingredients now...but then again my hair is _also_ twice as long so I guess that makes up for it

Cecilia Morales: I enjoy all the info you give. You have been soooooo helpful in my curly hair journey. Without you I would be confused. You even have helped with my kids because two of my babies have hair like yours.

LaTonaya Bryant: Thank you....tried the Shea Moisture 10-1 Renewal System on my hair & GREAT recommendation. I noticed HUGE change in my hair with first use & I love the heat cap, so much better than sitting under the dryer. First Class girl!!!

Shvonne Boudreaux: Okay I think there is some great information in this video but there are also a few things that I want to say for women with tighter textures. Firstly extremely DRY hair comes from build up. If you have kinky or coily textures of hair, low porosity hair or you consistently co wash and over oil your hair then you have build up. While yes shampoo is for the scalp if you have tons of build up your hair needs to be properly CLARIFIED. Because WATER in the ultimate moisturizer your hair needs to be free of build up. When it comes to stylers especially for those who don’t wear wash and goes ALL THE TIME. Then please try to avoid things that are heavy with shea butter and coconut oil. If it does have either of those ingredients please make sure Behentrimonium Methosulfate which is an emulsifier is high up on the ingredients list to break down those ingredients. Lastly oil is a SEALANT not a moisturizer. It literally have NO pH which means it can’t add moisture to ANYTHING. Water is what adds moisture and yes there are oils that penetrate to add fatty acids back to the hair but some oils for low porosity and coarser textures need to be avoided like coconut which is HIGH in protein. Which can cause build up on those strands. Also guys something to consider also depending on where you live are humectants ESPECIALLY glycerin which can cause build up and for your hair to feel stiff and DRY. Instead look for natural humectants like Aloe Vera and possibly honey or honeyquat.

Kentigerna: I would love it if you could find and review some Bianca-approved kids' curly hair products! This would be perfect for us moms out here, plus you can be prepared for when your little one is born! <3

Jenn W: I'm new to your channel and you crack me up! Thank you for this video! I'm 40--ish and had very straight hair all of my life. Then, out of nowhere, my hair started growing in curly! I always wanted curly hair and I love it! But I had no idea how to take care of it. Funny thing that READING is! (I'm also a teacher!)

Xovlyo Peach: THANKYOU BIANCA. Im starting my curly journal right now. This is helping me so much!

Freddie Mercury: Recommendation: If your hair is really dry and brittle but you still need a good hold, try on of the Aunt Jackie’s gels! They have such good hold but are infused with proteins and fatty acids (which your hair needs to grow). I use them and they really help my hair!

A Heart Made Fullmetal: I use a leave-in, a styling cream, and a gel and my hair still gets frizzy AND I deep condition weekly.

Vera BLEXIT ASAP: Thanks to Bianca I finally start letting my hair stay curly after shower WITHOUT looking like a shrunken frizzy curl monster

Aida F.: Thank you so much Bianca for clarifying (no pun) And LOVE me some Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus curl enhancing smoothie!!

Lucy Aherne: Even though we have vastly different hair types you have helped me with my hair my sister has type 3 hair and I have type 2 hair and I tried everything to get mine like hers it’s only after watching yours and India’s videos that I now know I need to not compare my hair to other peoples and that it’s beautiful the way it is I am still learning but I’m getting better and only in the past 2 weeks has my hair turned out the way I wanted it’s still not where it could be but I want to thank you you really don’t know how much of an inspiration you are to me a stranger so I can’t imagine how much of an inspiration you will be to your own son thank you xx

Keren Hernandez: your public speaking skills are LEGIT sis. i actually took a course on it and your hitting all the points i was taught

Ashley Campbell: Even though this is really simple advice we should all do it, this is probably the most valuable video I've found about how to use products. As soon as I started doing this and actually reading product descriptions, my curls have been a dream come true.

A.M. BL: I use the Cantu Curl activator and it's a great base for my moisturized wash and go btw. I have very dry hair I always need a leave in before cream and/or gel. I prefer the Activator over the Curling cream I use it with many gels :)
