How To Crochet Scrunchies - Inspired By Vsco Girl Trend Hair Scrunchie

You can learn how to Crochet Scrunchies in this tutorial video. Hi I'm Donna Wolfe from Naztazia. Hair scrunchies seem to have quite a surge in popularity these days due to the VSCO Girl trend. A scrunchie is easy to crochet with 45 yards of DK weight yarn, a size F 3.75 mm crochet hook, and a 2-inch diameter hair elastic. If you get one of those multi color cake yarns, you can separate it by color and make several scrunchies from it.
You will need to already know how to crochet to make these scrunchies. Specifically you will need to know the chain, single crochet and double crochet stitches. These stitches produce a scrunchie with a nice layered, ruffled, lace, mesh look to them.
My daughter Sarah from Reviews by Sarah likes these scrunchies. She laughed when I told her I made these same scrunchies for my own hair when I was a teenager back in the 80s!

Hi, I'm Donna Wolfe from naztazia.com Today I'll show how to crochet hair scrunchies. To do this, I'm using 45 yards of a DK weight yarn for each.. If you get a multi colored yarn, you can make several from one cake. A size, F, crochet, hook. And two inch diameter hair elastics, preferably ones that stretch nicely. To begin round one place a slip. Knot on your hook. Pick up the elastic and proceed to make 45 single crochet stitches around the elastic.. There'S the first one. Two. Three.. You can make as many as you wish, to support your elastic. Any odd or even number will work. For round two slip stitch to close the circle. Chain, four. Working in the back loops. Only for this round slip stitch in the next stitch. Chain. Four. Then slip stitch in the back loop. Chain, four again. And slip stitch. Chain. Four again. And slip stitch. Continue chaining four and slip stitching in the back loops for the entire stitches around this ring. For round three just slip: stitch to the next space. Chain. Four and in the next space make a single crochet. Chain. Four again. Single crochet. Continue with the chain 4 and single crochet in the next space around this ring.. Your work should start to bunch or scrunch up a little bit. At the end chain, four. And then slip stitch to the first chain. Cut yarn and weave in the ends.. Now it's time to work in those front loops that we left unworked before. Start a brand new yarn end and place a slip. Knot on your hook. Slip, stitch into any one of the front loops.. It doesn't matter which one. Chain four., We'll repeat the other round. Two. Slip stitch in the next stitch this time using the front loops. Chain four and slip stitch into the next stitch. Continue doing this around the scrunchie. For round three of this front part slip stitch into the first space. Chain, four and in the next space, make A single crochet. Chain, four again. And single crochet., Continue doing this chain 4 and single crochet all around the scrunchie. At the end chain, four. And as before, slip stitch to the first chain. Cut and weave in all ends. On any ends or knots or last stitches. I like to put a dab of clear nail polish to help secure them.. You can make one in every color. And that's how I crochet a hair. Scrunchie
