Hey everybody it's bunny and today we're gon na do something: we've never done before we're gon na be testing a mysterious vintage hair styling tool. I don't quite know what to refer to this thing as it is called the conair crumpler. Oh, my god, am i going to have to get an extension cord. This is as far as the crumpler will go, i'm entangled in the crumpler. I think that this is from the 80s. The 90s. I tried to see if i could find anything. An old magazine ad, but you know what i'm talking about where they would have like the whole full page spread like try the crumpler i tried to see if there was like an old commercial that came on tv. For this thing, you guys know that i love 80s styling tools, crimpers like funky stuff, actually what i was looking for when i came across this thing, because i was like how did i even find this and then i was remembering i was looking for the ultimate Tacky hairstyler there was like a flat iron that pressed little shapes into your hair, like stars, hearts rainbows, unicorns and balloons, i'm still on the lookout for those they're kind of like rare and hard to come by, and i was looking for for that thing. I came across this thing and it was so strange. I think i paid like twenty dollars for this on makari. It'S got just dots, just two plates of dots and the only thing i've done so far is plug it in and make sure that we had heat. Otherwise, this would not be a video just look at the moment of this vintage technology. How hot does it get? I don't know, is it on? Yes, because i feel heat, but there's no like status light, there's no on off switch. You either just plug it in or you don't plug it in. Those are the only options that you have. I feel like all beauty and hair tools now they're, just trying to like ooze with like sexiness and ugh, and then like you, have this and it's like the crumpler. When i say crumple, i think of like garbage, let's find out what is this gon na do to my hair and by my hair i mean these are some extensions i was like. Am i gon na just act like this? Is my real hair? No, you guys. I have not heavily heat styled, my hair in like three months maybe - and i can already tell such a difference, so i kind of don't want to just let it all go on the crumpler. Let'S just go in the middle here and i guess i'm gon na pinch it down. Oh my god, you guys. Why is this so weird, never mind? I know why it's weird. It'S called a crumpler, oh my god like. Why would you want this, though, says the girl who crimps her hair every single day for a year like i feel like from far away? You guys tell me: does it just look like itty, bitty, tiny micro, crimps, that's kind of what it looks like i think from way back here, but like up close you guys from what i'm seeing it just looks like like just polka dots in your hair. This is one of those moments where i'm just like kind of speechless i feel like far away. Maybe it adds a little bit of texturing or something it doesn't. Look full-on crimped like it's not like wow. What did she do to her hair? At least from my perspective right now, sometimes i say things like that when i'm filming and then i look back at it when i'm editing and i'm like. Oh, my god, you can see there's like such a difference between this side of hair and this side of hair. So we'll see we'll see in the comments, if you guys think it really looks like there's a mega difference over here versus here. I don't feel like we're gon na get that much of a difference to where, like i would like to heat damage, my own hair, by doing an entire head of crumpled hair. But you know what i am willing to risk. Is this kool-aid dyed wig? So this is all human hair wig. If you guys watched that video, we left it for like half a month, soaking in goulet kool-aid, i'm gon na pop this on a mannequin head, really quick and we're gon na crumple. The whole dang thing and we're gon na see would it actually look really cool. If you did your whole head of hair with the crumpler, you guys, words are not coming easy to me today, let's get to crumpling, oh, i have to pause. I'M like halfway through crumpling - and i just wanted to know if you guys can tell at this point half of this head of hair is crumpled. The other half is not crumpled. Can you guys tell which half is the crumpled half? What in the crump is going on right now? I thought this was about to be so cool because i'm like even having to look at it, it's this half and doesn't this half kind of look like it has more volume all right. You guys crumple mode complete and i have to say i'm not that impressed. I feel like this hair does not look crumpled at all. It'S so weird, like i don't know. If maybe the plates are not heating up evenly or something because like whenever i get to the bottoms of the hairs, the bottoms of the hairs? Does that make any sense? You guys, i feel like i'm in the twilight zone like there's clips, you guys saw clips of me crumpling this hair and like down at the base. I feel, like literally, it looks like i did nothing, and that is the weirdest thing is like, as i was going along as soon as i had crumpled the piece of hair, i was like oh wow that looks kind of cool once again, not a huge change, Not as much as like a normal crimper but still like you could see, i was doing something and then like by the time i got done with like that section of hair. I would go back to the first section i had done and it looked like. Nothing had been done to the hair. Now, i know all of you guys were gon na run right out to ebay and see if you could get your hands on a crumpler, but i kind of just like don't recommend this. I feel like you're kind of just unnecessarily, exposing your hair to who knows how much heat and for what? Because it doesn't even look like it's like holding the style like i've, never had another styler like this or any kind of crimper. Where, like a, i had to use like a styling spray like a hairspray or something, i feel like um wigs, my own hair extensions, whatever i feel like, i only have to start using a styling spray. If i'm trying to curl the hair - and i want the curls to last - but never with like a crimp or another kind of like thing where i'm like pressing the plates together - normally that's a style that lasts. I also feel like i was like sometimes excessively like holding the crumpler in the same place, to like try my best to just like get something to happen, because you guys it's honestly like so weird also what this is kind of a look you guys, my hair Is just hanging out back here, as i'm sure you guys can see, i didn't put it in a wig cap or anything. This is kind of cute, although i think i'm about to um re-dye this wig soon because, like this is a cool blue color, but the back of the head, as i'm sure you guys could see um it's just like bleach blonde. That'S another thing that i wanted to test out with this is like: maybe was it just not showing up as well on the blue hair, slash the super bleachy blonde bits, because i feel like just on this like test strip of extensions, we could see something. That'S mostly gone now too, and it is interesting enough to mention. I do actually have like some setting spray uh, which this is like a slight structural hold spray. I already have that sprayed in these. It doesn't seem to make that much of a difference. I was like oh, we could kind of see something on this like blonde extension, so maybe it's just like this hair color or something i do. Interestingly enough. Get that comment a lot about crimping, like a lot of people, comment to me that they don't think their hair looks that cute crimped and i get that comment like from both sides of the spectrum. Like some people say. Oh, i have like black hair and it doesn't look that cute crimped or i have blonde hair, and it doesn't look that cute crimped or like any hair shade in between. So i wanted to test out like would the style be more noticeable on, like my black hair extensions like? Can you guys tell that i did anything here i mean maybe super up close a teeny tiny bit. I do think it does. Maybe look the best on my black hair extensions, but i mean come on if i hold this piece of hair up like way back here or if i clip it into the hair. I just wanted to get this for fun. I don't think we've ever tested like a vintage hair tool of any kind. I think it's always like. What'S new hot and modern, now that i have tested it, i unfortunately don't think it'll be something that i use with any kind of regularity or probably ever again it just was not that impressive, and i guess that is just the most disappointing thing of all. Is that like right when you freshly crumble, it looks kind of cool, because i did take some up close iphone clips like super zoomed in so you guys could see like the immediate effect, but it's just nothing dramatic and it's nothing lasting also. You guys, i feel, like i say this, a lot in modern hair tool, reviews where i'm like. Oh, they made it like, thinner and sleeker, and i guess that never like was like a wow moment for me where i'm like. Oh, my gosh, that does make such a difference. It makes a huge difference. You guys, because i remember when all crimpers and straighteners and everything were kind of like this thick this chunky and when you're actually like trying to get to the root of your hair and stuff, it makes a huge difference. Gosh yeah, i don't at all miss the five inch thick styling tools of the past so yeah. I guess those are all of my complete crumpler thoughts. Let me know all of you guys, thoughts and opinions about this in the comments down below sippy sippy. Thank you guys so so much for hanging out today and for watching if you're not already and you'd like to be hit, the button down below subscribe, become a member of the swamp family and give an alligator twangs. I love you guys so so much and i'll be back again, very very soon. Bye,

Ellisia Jesnes: So this tool was designed to add body at the root. You section out hair at the root and press it as close to your scalp as possible. Of course, not directly on your scalp! But if you go back to the beginning of the video and you look at the wig and then you look at it afterward you’ll see how it lifts the roots! It’s not designed to actually create a pattern in the hair…although you could do that with the right products, that wasn’t the purpose. Hope this is helpful!

Grace Mcewen: I remember this so well! It’s not meant to do your entire head. It’s mean to to take out a halo on top of your head and crumple the hair underneath and then lay the hair back down for instant volume!!

AliceRavenWing: You should start doing “Does This Vintage Thing Really Work!”

Your Mom Leslie: I would love to see more videos like this! Finding vintage products to try instead of new ones is such a different concept. Love it so so much!

Elizabeth W.: OMG!!! This looks like a old version of the "new" Voloom Volumizing Hair Iron tool. THAT would be an awesome follow up video to this one, comparing the old and the new!!!!

Emlayy: It breaks my heart and makes me feel ancient to know that items from the late 90's are now considered "vintage"

Devon Healy: I love when you review products like this! Especially anything vintage! This looks interesting yet a little scary at the same time! I totally remember the shape irons from my pre-teen years, I know that totally outs me on my age but whatever lol!

Cosmic Deal Heather: Haha no way I did a video on this thing last year after finding it at a thrift store. It mystified me too. Apparently it's from the early 2000s from my research, there's so little info on it out there.

Barb O'Connor: I totally thought it burned little holes in your hair at first! Thank you for trying this crazy stuff for us. Stay you! ❤

Stacey Dailey: I was born in 76, so I'm an 80s kid. This is definitely from the 80s. If you want to find an ad for it you gotta check "Teen magazine" I don't think that's a magazine anymore but I was a faithful subscriber. I kept all of them from 11 years old to 18 years old but we moved and my mom convinced me to toss them. Can't tell you how many times I wish I hadn't tossed them tho!

bocalustt: you should start a series where you test vintage products or products from the early 2000s!!

Ria Gee: Please do more vintage hair tools! I know this was a flop, but it was fun to watch!

TaylorNHeather: Id love to see you experiment with a dark wig and using different boxed bleach kits to find out which is the best idk ‍♀️ lol sounds fun

Nicole Celentano: It’s amazing our hair survived these products back in the day! I totally do not remember this product…

Krista Mellish: I grew up in the 80’s in my “tweens”. And I lived for every hair accessory. And I showed this to my 13 years older sister and I have never ever seen this or ever seen this style. It is odd not sure if it is fun retro or if it just looks brushed fine crimps……. Interesting

Holly Tang: Yaay!! It's the best day of the week, "Does this things really work? " with Bunny ❤ I wish for you to have a nice day CONAIR

madisyn duncan: I used to watch you years ago when I was a child, I have nostalgia watching your videos! I’m so happy to see you’re still doing the “Does this thing really work” videos

Leesa Wallace: I was a child/tween in the 80's and I had the Conair hair styler that had three styles of removable plates. it had a crimper, a waver and flat iron. I don't remember this one. Enjoying the videos!

Monica Opdenhoff: This reminded me of the Conair Geometrics 5-in-1 styler from the 80's. It had flat, triangle, spiral, and crimper/flat iron reversible plate attachments. I had one when I was in high school and had soooo much fun with it!

lola: I think you're going to have so-much- fun with this conair crimpr Bunns !! ☀️ I can only think of your beautiful golden hairrr all crimped up as of now ps : can we try the hair machine that makes heart shapes on your hairrrr ? hahahahahahahaha that would be so rad !! ☄️☄️

Dyed Zombie: 1:05 I would DIE to have this come back into style!!! I'm on the hunt now!

Angie M: I love that thing! My hair is a little longer than yours and I'd use it over the entire length. It makes your hair look like a cholla cactus!

Halfofmyheart: I’ve seen similar tools like this on Walmart’s website and it seems that it’s suppose to add volume to the hair.

bobbie mc: I feel like this might have been more of a root volume styler, because it definitely adds volume but can be hidden with some teasing etc

Glitter Girl: I don't even remember that thingy and I grew up in the 80s burnt my hair to a crisp with the Conair crimping iron lmao!!! Love this vid..keep doing vintage things if ya can find them. fun to watch! ❤️❤️

Timothy Chevrolet: Bunny is the only YouTuber I’ve seen keep the same profile picture for 10+ years and I’m here for it

Brooke Hildebrant: Yay! I have been loving all of your hair uploads lately. Hair and stationary AND IM IN

Tabby Cat: There is a very similar hair tool on the market right now called Voloom. You use it just at the roots on lower sections of hair & comb over the crown sections to cover.

Thiccpersephone: Does this thing really work will always be my most favorite segment of yours it is so comforting omg

Crazysasquatch: I feel like that would be perfect with people who have thin hair and need more volume at the root!

MINDYWAAAA: Bunny have you tried dyeing your hair mahogany or red? Your natural hair is blonde/brown (so beautiful!) but I'm just so curious about you in a red'ish color!

Barbara Smith: Bunny, I'm getting some major punk Statue of Liberty vibes with the blue-ish green wig and the spiked head band. Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to ask "Does this thing really work", The wretched refuse of your teeming shore and As Seen On TV Products.

Karma Cuisine: When the crimp queen knocks on my youtube door I'm here for it

leahxrose_edits: 1:05 OH MY GOD I have wanted to see you test this out for YEARS!! praying to god you find one lol

Alex Richard Thompson: I style and make wig and I alway come to you when I need inspiration cos your hair is alway crazy cool I love it!! You have grate recommendations when it comes to hair dryers ❤️❤️

Rachel Hildebrand: Super awesome find! I don’t think it did enough to want to style your real hair with it. I couldn’t tell which side had been done at all

new vintage collectibles: its not hot enough , you’d have to wait for it to heat again on each piece :/ could maybe work for colored pieces of hair extensions

Lauren Etchells: Seventeen Magazine would always do “the top 10 best hair appliance and products” take up a two page section, as you’re turning pages and getting reviews and descriptions of hair care products and appliances.

Pillsbury Toad Baby: The crimp is in the eye of the beholder. I do mine atleast once a month my whole head.

Izi: I love how the wig is a similar color as the crumpler

Miss Wicked’s Web: I remember that one that puts the shapes in your hair. They also had the glitter stamp one and the one that twisted little rhinestone’s into your hair…I still have the last one lol

SuccubusEyes: The one with the plates that have shapes!! I had that iron back in the day! It only looked cute if you hair sprayed the chunk in a REAL way after so the hair doesn’t shift or else the shape was lost and your hair looked like garbage. Mine had lightning bolts, hearts and stars.

Nicole Eckhart: I have a vintage conair 2 in 1 crimper/straightener. The crimper worked well but I didn't think the straightener part worked that well.

Diane Humphrey: I have to tell u...if u ever dye your hair black use the Demi (semi) permanent which washes out in 28 times but from experience my hair is black now from bleach blond and it stays longer and doesn't fade as the permanent hair color it stays black as black like hair extentions.

Sarah Anne: Is this just a vintage texture iron? Meant to use on the underside of your hair? For extra grip and texture?

Diane Humphrey: Omg I love this .it looked very cool when u started at the beginning on your hair ..is the green hair real or synthetic due to I don't think it works on fake hair ..I thought it was cool

new vintage collectibles: Your hair videos are my favorite!

Ashley Koehler: Up close it reminds me of leopard spots. It also looks like it’s just giving you some volume maybe. Also, your mannequin face cracks me up. I just love you are 100% yourself all the time! Don’t change.

🇺🇸Freedom 🇺🇸: In the 80’s I had all my hair tools plugged in and had a switch on the wall that flipped on n off the power to the outlet maybe that’s why no on n off switch on the crumpler

Missskerryxx: Ohhhhhh this reminds me I got my hair crimper tool that my mum used on my hair in the 90s I need to look it out and see if it still works

Loviekinz: I feel like it looks almost like spots, like leopard spots. I love it.

Morgan Haines: Okay the side with crumple is way more voluminous. I think maybe it’s only supposed to be used more at the crown at just add volume!

icy storm: This feels like such a throw back ❤️

love yourself please: On your hair extensions I think it's unique & cute but would also seriously trigger people with trypophobia Lol, in the best way possible

Bethany: That wig is gorgeous! I love the look. Where did you order it from? **CONAIR**

Martyna Augustinaviciene: I always hear "Hey everybody, it's Funny"! My brain just can't unhear it, so I think I will settle for Funny Bunny.

Workin on a Mystery: I still have my Conair Crimper and Hot Sticks from the 1980s. They still work and I occasionally use them.

Betty Ratliff: I don't remember that tool. .. You can see the dots though. Love it

Logan Lemonslice: Absolutely love it!

Goldenface: Been so enjoying your videos ❤

CherryBerry: i had the very same one in the exact color and did my hair all the time and people would say oh thats not braided, i was like i never said it was, but i used it til it died, and time went on and didnt have the need to get another one

Sandra C: I have a Conair crimper from the same era. It has interchangeable plates for a variety of crimp sizes. Same thing happens. It looks like it’s crimping while I’m doin it, but then once I’m done it looks like nothing happened!!!!

𝔽ℝ𝔼𝔼 ℝ𝕆𝔹𝕌𝕏 𝕆ℕ 𝕄𝕐 ℙℝ𝕆𝔽𝕀𝕃𝔼 👾: The fact u got the kid all that stuff I love you bro! TLI

Dustin: I LOVE that wig on you!!

Pamela Hinchee: Girl, I really like the color of THAT WIG!

Blu _b36000: If you want volume try the voloom! It’s a game changer !!

Horror: The trademark on the Conair Crumpler was all the way into December of 2000

KatelynEby: I just love you Miss Bunny!!!!

H P: Conair owned the trademark for the crumpler from 2002 until 2009 so definitely newer than previously thought.

TheBreakdownArtist: Some research on what it was for and how it was meant to be use would have been fab

Yvonne Burns: If you wear an orange wig and use the the crumpler then you've got a cheetah spot effect, ideal for any themed day or party

Jenni Peterson: I had one that had a straighter, crimper and skull and crossbones stamp. I got it in like 2003 at hottopic

Kendra K: I haven’t even finished the video… at the part where you are starting on the wig… but the second you started crumpling your own hair… it gave me heebie jeebies or weird vibes… idk… it kind of looked like you had leopard print in your hair for a second… when you did the close up… and yeah… from far away it does kinda look like mini crimps

Kim Kaye: This tool isn’t a crimper. It’s to add body at the root. Mostly for updo’s.

High Tide Soaps: I had a Conair Shiny Straight straightner in 1999 that had one side to straighten, the other was flocked and was supposed to smooth and shine hair or something? All it did is give it EXTREME static and frizz, hahaah!

fortnite god: On the wig it was a flop. On your hair I loooooved it so much. If you did a few straps it reminds me of feathers

Paige D'Winter: when the 80s and 90s starts getting called vintage.... I'm ready to die. I'm THAT old....

Kristen: HI bunny! My mom had this when I was a kid....before I had a curly afro!! Also, I have something That I want to give you, a family heirloom but I need to converse with you 1st please! I don't want it to be chucked into a pile because he is fragile. To the other viewer telling me what to do... please don't I have a reason for approaching this as I am K thanks!

Daydreambunny222: I'm 37 I still have my confirmation sizzler crimper it's purple and gold and still works !

BEX: That is so weird because 25 years ago I was 25 years old and I do not ever recall seeing this product LOL

Kelly Jo: As an 80’s baby, you got to realize that we would soak our hair in Aqua Net, then use the curling iron/crimping/crumpling tool. Damaged hair just meant more volume!

Figment43: Things that came out when I was a kid are now vintage?

dianne angeles: Its just for the roots, its for volumizing the hair

Samantha Bryson: I know it's not related and Bunny might not see this but my 2 year old found and loves my swamp family gator Keychain and thanks to it she just learned to say alligator ❤️

lola: I love seeing you happy baby xx

matthew8623: Crimpers were made in the '80s that I don't know what year that one from because they usually have lines going across so when you crimp it you have line crimps and gives you more bigger hair.

ERYN: "I don't miss the 5 inch hair stylers" immediately think of a slumber party slasher movie mixed with the Spy Kids scene "I know they're heavy". Bonus it's hot.

Erin C: Hey, Bunny! I'm moving to Houston in June and I was wondering if you were planning on doing any meet and greets in the near future?

HexxiDelux: These types of tools, especially from the 90s (if it really is 25 years old, it's from the 90s), won't work on most wigs. Human hair wigs? Yes. Synthetic hair? Prrrooobably not. There was a clear difference between the hair extension you used, where we could see the dot patterns clearly, and the cheap wig. Also, like Ellisia Jesnes said, this tool is for the roots, but seriously don't touch your scalp with it.

Kate Flack: I’m 42 and my sister still has our hair crimper from the 80,s

twogirlsoneskype: Wow, am I really one of the first to comment??? That is super rare for me!! Love you, Bunny! I'm a fellow Texan up in DFW and I'm sending you love from over here!

Julia Wiggs: When u did your extention-I kinda love it! Blue hair-wait wut?

Kayla Smith: Blue is definitely your color! Omg

𝔽ℝ𝔼𝔼 ℝ𝕆𝔹𝕌𝕏 𝕆ℕ 𝕄𝕐 ℙℝ𝕆𝔽𝕀𝕃𝔼 👽: You know it’s a good day when posts EVY

Darkl Dow: Any one remember hair tattoos that sparkled?? I had one. They mostly just burned.

Dolly Me: I wonder if it’s just for your roots like put your hair straight up and just crimp your roots and see if it stays like I wonder if it’s like instead of back combing it would be for volume just at the roots maybe it’s not meant for your whole head ?

sam: The crumpler matches your koolaid wig

Melissa Normand: 80’s miss that decade. Mine was purple and I could change it to a flat iron
