Scalp massage can increase blood flow and reduce inflammation, facilitating hair growth. One study also found massage to alter gene expression, triggering increased growth. I used a massage tool for 5 minutes daily to see if I can reverse my thinning hair.

Hey guys, i use scalp massages every day for 24 weeks to see if i can regrow my hair, my hairline is receding and i'm also thinning on top. So i wanted to see if i can slow down or even reverse my hair loss. Earlier this year i took pumpkin seed oil every day for 24 weeks, but i didn't really see much of a difference. One of the comments on that video suggested dechumescence for hair regrowth, which i had to look up. It turns out diet. Medicine'S therapy is about reducing inflammation and increasing blood flow in the scalp, which can be achieved through massage. In a 2016 study, nine men were given a four minute scalp massage every day for 24 weeks on average hair thickness increased from 0.085 mil to 0.092 mil. So around 8 percent thicker they concluded that scalp massage transmits mechanical stress to the subcutaneous layer, which is the layer directly under the skin and that changes gene expression. So what that means is for the massage to be effective. You need enough pressure to make an impression on the skin surface and for that reason i opted for a massage tool. I didn't know which one was best, so i bought two the first one, i've seen advertised more regularly, which is the spider-like metal massager and the other is a palm-sized one that is silicon tipped the downside of the metal one is that i'm losing hair. On top of my head, while the tips tend to splay out and massage everything, but the top, if it really was effective, that would leave me looking like friar tuck, i much prefer the silicon one, even though you can only massage a small part of your head At any one time, i would focus on a small area trying to press down and then move a section of my scalp rather than making large abrasive movements across my head. That'S because the main study found an initial decrease in hair count from massage likely due to the friction involved. Okay, so enough preamble, what were the results? I took pictures roughly every 30 days. I was shaving my head to a number two cut, which is six mil on the morning of each picture. We did our best to keep the lighting and the angle the same, but it's not perfect. So, first up the top of my head, i gave this the most attention because that's where it's noticeably thinning, in fact, with a silicon tool, i only work the top of my head for the five minutes. I like to be critical about any results and it's possible. The picture on day zero was in a less flattering light, but overall i do feel like i have better hair coverage by the end of 24 weeks at the back of my head, i'm getting a little bald spot. Unfortunately, the final picture came out a little blurry, but i don't see any improvements there. Lastly, the side of my head, my hairline shouldn't recede that much in 24 weeks and it seems little has changed. You can tell that lighting does play some part in how thick my hair appears each month. So, overall, i would say these are very encouraging results. I was switching tools every few days and the silicon massager seems to have helped with the hair growth on the top of my head. There was another study done in 2019 um, where participants were shown a video of standardized scalp massage which they were to do for 20 minutes every day. The study showed a positive association between the cumulative time spent massaging and perceived hair regrowth on average perceived hair loss. Stabilization and regrowth occurred after 36 hours and 20 minutes of standardized scalp massage effort. To put that into perspective, i did five minutes a day for 168 days, which works out at 14 hours of cumulative effort. My results have been promising enough that i will continue with the massage and likely increase the time spent doing it per day. I like to do it alongside other activities such as reading work, emails, and that way, it's not so much of a time sink. The study has a link to the video that participants were shown on doing the scalp massage with your hands. I might incorporate that as well. I'Ve left a link to that in the description below and the massage protocol is also detailed in the original paper under methods. I'Ve also linked that the only other thing to mention is that people have suggested the topical application of pumpkin seed oil would have been more effective than taking it orally, but for now i'm sticking with massage thanks for watching. If you've had success regrowing your hair, then please share your methods in the comments below cheers.

runz a: Straight to the point and getting us the information we need. Thanks!

Mr S.C.: I had great success last year with hair density by exercising more and going for long walks on sunny days. Not sure if it was the sun, Vitamin D or exercising which was the trigger (or indeed all three) but I ended up with much thicker, more lustrous locks within a matter of three months. Oh and last year was the first year I ditched all fizzy soft drinks, so an improved diet helped as well.

Suellen: Sooooo full of great info!!!!! Thank you for this video and the pics of the progress. The details you provided helped me make my own little routine for hair growth

Vault S: Impressive video. You didn't waste any time, great inclusion of studies and encouraging results. Keep up the great work!

Miriam B: I can actually tell there's a small difference. I think you should continue doing it.

Ben Zook: Awesome video, very informative. One thing to consider is that even if growth in all areas wasn't huge, hair maintenance is a lot better than hair loss!

Dzqnn: I definitely see a difference, no matter how you do these massages, keep doing them :D

Green Lion: It’s a good thing to incorporate into your shower routine. I would add that adding in a good shampoo that cleans the scalp (tea tree oil) is good too. A laser cap coupled with this works wonders, in my experience.

JoJo Kemper: Best and most promising video I've seen on how to encourage hair growth. Having your hair short the entire time really helped to see the results. Thank you!

Logan Logan: Correct way is pushing the scalp from sideways to upper side. Upper side and temple area have more stretching force and as a result more tension. So you have to reduce the tension by making the scalp muscle become relaxed not stretched. Also 1 or 1.5 mm dermaroller once a week. Papermint oil as it's proven in lab to regrow hair. Nothing would work if you're going through stress or anxiety. Reduce stress, only then you could see result as early as 3 weeks.

L TY: Bro, the AGA is because of DHT problem which miniaturize the hair from the root. Lycopene which from tomatoes is the key to regularize the excessive DHT. You can try out Lycopene suplement with certain mg base for 24 weeks and check out whether it improves hair growth or not. Hope to see this video in future.

OmarTheCupOfTea: My insecurities are destroying me but I am trying to fight it I am going bald too since 18 and I am now 22 years old but people are destroying my confidence by bullying me I hope here that I find the good people too me ,happy day❤

Mary St. Amand: Try also massaging the muscles on your forehead and all around the skull at that level. This releases the tendons in your scalp which helps hair growth promoting blood flow.

Sean S: Nice man. I say keep at it and look forward to better results. Please keep us updated.

blitz crank: I was looking for this kind of content for a long time. Your are a hero sir <33.

Jesus Christ is King: These oils may be too much for you. But Jamaican black castor oil, peppermint oil, coconut oil & olive oil, applied topically ( massaging in). will do wonders ( apply at night or if working from home first thing in morning, & wash out later if need be. Bending your head down between legs while massaging increases blood flow expeditionally & hair growth. Hope this helps

Cranny: You should look into the galea aponeurotica. The galea is hardened due to stress that constructed the blood flow and blocks the hair from growing. To relax the galea you should massage it that allows the blood flow and the hair growth happens

PARTHO SARKER: this is really effected bro thanks for the information and providing us such a question in this matter

Soniya: Have you tried castor oil? There are various methods of using it but the one I followed was to mix 1 tablespoon of castor oil with 3 to 4 tablespoons of coconut/sesame oil depending upon the hair length. Apply this mixture twice a week at night before sleeping, then wash hair next day. In a few weeks I could notice lots of baby hair that had grown big enough to be noticed. Castor oil is very sticky so using too much directly without diluting might clog the pores.

ᴘʟᴀʏʙᴏɪᴄᴀʀᴛɪツ #6233: Damn thanks man. Great video BTW. Full of useful info. liked and subbed too. THANKS! :)

shhh x: just want to say that you've got a good headshape so even if it won't grow back it looks good.l

Jai Gupta: I found your channel really helpful ❤️ God bless

TR_NW: I believe you must go much more vigorously about things. I have begun doing deep massaging, no it's not fun and nor is it easy. I had taken before photos only six weeks ago and now already my hair has thickened a bit and even many new ones have started coming to the surface across the totally bald areas of my widows peaks. I've also noticed MUCH less shedding, before many hairs would come out when running my hands through with a slight bit of pulling ... but, now, I can hardly pull one or two out when doing so! I'm excited and anxious to continue, I'd love to restore my hair as much as possible and retain it for my entire life!

E S S A: I was using Minoxidil 5% with dermaroler for nearly 3 months and the results was great! Don’t stop when you lose your hair in the first month or second just keep going. Now I will put the massage brush than I will see✌

bleeka325: I like that you included scientific sources. A lot of YouTubers spout nonsense with nothing to back it up and folks believe the false info

Whiskey Jack: First time I see video on this topic without bs, appreciate it dude

Rich Rocket: I have to say, bless you and thank you for doing these videos. Live is truly hard, and it's difficult to know if you are making a difference in this world. I want you to know that you are and that your are appreciated. Fortune eventually favors the kind.

keelo brown: The 20 min hand massage is VASTLY superior to massage tools. Although using both along with dermarolling once a week is the best way to treat hair loss. And doing handstands at least 5 mins a day to increase blood flow to the scalp. Honestly i dont think a 5 min massage a day with that tool is going to be that effective. It will be effective most likely but just not as effective as it other methods of massage/micro damage.

Michael Jones: I don't believe it helps regrow hair BUT it has helped stop or slow down my hair loss. I use the massager when washing my hair with shampoo every other day. The amount of dead skin that came off my head was astonishing.

Shashank Shekhar: just letting you know that you don't need to regrow hair. this look with very small hair looks great.

Herns Mil: Many years ago I worked in Singapore as an expat. I was young and experiencing hair loss. There was a hair treatment business that uses herbals and scalp massage for about 10~15 minutes. The overall duration of treatment would last for about 30~45 minutes, 2x a week.

Heather D: So, I think you should pinch and do circular massage concentrating on the areas that feel tight on your scalp. The tight areas are areas of vasoconstriction that limit growth.

Paul Hughes: You need to drink lots of water and get the sunlight light energy, doing hand stands or hanging upside down to get the blood to the head better. Try this for 6 months and do a video, it really all depends on your diet, plenty of water and sunlight just like plants etc it's from the inside out the growth, it works better in the summer

frairie: Gold content! Thank you!

野唔好亂食: Thanks a lot man... it is really very frustrating that when you see your hair getting thinner. I will try it starting today.

no hassle: I am glad you tried just using the massager alone but I think it is best if you apply a hair growth oil or liquid to your scalp and then use the massagers. Thanks for posting. I am losing my hair too and have been for many years.

Raja gopal: I used to have a lot of dandruff in my scalp, easily visible amount of it… I was applying oil to my scalp regularly which only made it worse and itchy…. So I stopped using oil and started using a scalp massager similar to yours and also shampooed once a week…… I don’t know about hair regrowth but my dandruff has reduced significantly……!!!

addyou100 bingo: Does baldness affect you whole scalp and nor just the top?

Linda L.: Try the scalp massage like on the channel “thick on top.” You pinch the scalp, push the skin back and forth and move your head muscles. It is supposed to improve blood flow.

Neetesh Thakur: If possible do headstand before your head message for minnimum 2 minutes it will increase the blood flow and in turn help your hair growth.

sandysue202: Add a little hair growth oil or even just a bit of castor oil and continue with the gentle scalp massage. I believe you will see some growth. Good video!

Sphinx III: One of the most underrated Fitness channels... the human flag... dang...

Elliot Sinclair: I've been using a scalp massager twice a day for about 10 mins each and lots of hair is falling out each time. Been using it for a week so far and it's still happening. Is this normal?

Ryan Lamoureux: just know youve done gods work making this video great job hope u have a lifetime of happiness

Sam Baldwin: Magnesium supplement to decalsify scalp,. Shower water filter I heard also. Thanks for the massage tips man, shoots!

Sam Tiny: Been doing this for 10 days and getting spots on my scalp

Jocelyn Ford: Great results! I’m doing to buy the silicone tip hair massager.

StuIsArt: Would I be able to do this once per day for 20 mins and derma stamp once a week and still get results?

Brandon Hopkins: I like how this video is a laypersons's experiment. I've seen a few where someone put something in their hair once. I think I will try this.

Duchess Dani of Thickanda: Hi, you may need to use peppermint, eucalyptus, and cayenne oils-these are natural stimuli improves peripheral blood circulation and nourishes the scalp. pumpkin seed coats hair, not penetrated hair shaft or scalp for stimuli. research, but I am one who has grown my hair significantly from 2017 to now. please research, I would never steer you wrong

xyzMe: Dude must be Physics researcher, the way he is bringing the problem, talking about previous experiments, his own experiment, conclusion, more more like he is defending his thesis. Hehe joking, it was an awesome video

Kid Power: It definitely gives a boost in density, but is just limited to that. It's good if you don't have much hairloss, but beyond that not sure if it's worth it tbh.

Tom Cotter: It’s quite noble of you to experiment with these therapies that probably won’t work rather than simply getting on the therapies that we know will work. For science!

breakaway2x: Back rolls can help too (curl up in ball and roll back and forth) as it can help blood flow to your head. But having said all this, genetic predisposition plays the biggest role and stressors that trigger the predisposition faster/sooner than expected. Basically, it will happen whether you like it or not and stressors along with foods you consume, and pollutants all trigger an increase in the rate of hair loss. Everyone has a set number of hair follicles and nothing can suddenly make more hair follicles appear on your scalp. What really happens in hair loss is not that you are losing hair, because humans always lose hair everyday all the time. It's when hair follicles are not regrowing the hair. So basically everyone is losing hair all the time, but baldness is when your hair follicles stop growing hair while other people's follicles keep growing it after it falls out.

Meza: thank you sm for the information I realy apperciate you hope you success at the end✌

Fa z: We need part 2

eagles07: Great! keep it continues, you will gate 100% result after 50 years

YT_ALPHA: Hi you should be using dermapen 100% effective alongside minoxidil

Sujal Bhojwani: Dude don’t be discouraged by any thing,I wish that I had even half amount of the courage and positive spirit you have . Believe in god he has better things for you

Cécilia FG: I’ve read people recommend the following : - topical Rosemary oil - derma roller with titanium needles - the heat Max thing - yoga with upside down postures for blood flow to head - biotin and collagen supplements - and Nutrafol supplements - nettle tea (two cups a day) If you try any of this stuff, please let us know :)

Jimmy rock: Hair grow naturally after 24 weeks but bald area still the same as it was before

Regina Phalanges: It's been 4 months now. How is your progress coming along?

Liza Rosa: looks great satisfying brushing scalp. im getting the silicone one. You convinced me. You have too much testosterone is real reason everybody going bald. Eating soybeans helps block it from hair follicles. Take propecia, eat soybeans, and you will still have tons of testosterone but will make you healthier.

Christopher Delarosa: What you have done was slow down your MPB it’s very hard to grow back hair that has been fully miniaturized already unless you are a good responder on minoxidil . Continue massaging and at least you’ll keep what you have for a while trust me I’m big on hair I know what I’m talking about I also have a full head of hair

DmitriySokhach: @9to5Strength Thanks for the video! What about "scalp tension" and head muscles relaxation? Any thoughts?

Ciubotariu Bogdan: You look great with short hair!

Adani Nur Shabrina: Have u tried Rosemary and candlenut oil? It works on my mom hairloss journey

James Anthony Perez: Do you use it while shampoong your hair or when your hair dry? Also should you shave first your hair to see better results? Thanks mate

Bilal Raja: Why dont you oil your scalp with beneficial oils and then use the silicone brush you'll have no friction and the blood circulation will improve even more you'll get a fuller scalp in no time

Νικόλας ΑΠΟΕΛ: How many minutes should i massage my scalp?

I AM DOCTORCAT: I have try. Its worked for me but take too long time

Suxcess Music: Finally makes a quality video about this

AhamBrahmasmi: You should do experiment with comb. It's bit rough but it sure shot work

Maneesh Pardeshi: I have thich hair on my head.. I want to do head massage to prevent hair loss and get better sleep. Is it essential to trim your hair, can we do it with long hair..

Chris Smith: I believe the purpose is trying to push blood upwards i dont see how either of those would do that. Start from areas on side where you have hair upwards to get blood to the top.

Jayson Cabradilla: Im not a native english speaker, i have a friend doing only oil massage. His routine wa In work, every chance he have, oil massage early time in, snack break, lunch break, snack break, before time out, with multivitamins, he is bald and shiny head at work compared to this video, but after 3 years we met again, a head full of hair. Oil Massage is what he always told me.

sivasankaran s: Thank you so much

jeevy tvy: Hello sir, where could I find the silicone head massager please

Saint Brush: Honestly dude, I think you look quite handsome already!

Yogesh Waran: Warning:- this can give you extreme hair growth

piarun gymaddict nessa: Is this good for telogan effluvium?

Ha ha, He he, Ho ho: 1:46 according to the graph people had more hair before the experiment than after doin it

Gary: Thankyou.

King Leon: Try Onion juice , Garlic juice , Dermarolling with scalp massage and peppermint and rosemary oil and eat healthy .. Baldness has different causes not only one cause so you should fight in different ways in the same time.

IAmPrince: Am I crazy or do you have less hair after? Idk either way you've luckily got a good head shape so either way it could be worse

b1burck: You should first apply a solution of pumpkin seed oil, rosemary and peppermint oils and add emu oil so it carries them deep into the tissue down to the follicle

Rash: Try garlic and olive or coconut oil with the massages

Saravanan E: Can we use if u have a long hair ??

kareem saqif: Before masaage.....put ur leg up n put head down, up to 5 to 20,than massage u can get d quick answer

Mundo Desconhecido: Also he women of some Arabian tribes use basil water to wash their hair, it keeps it thick and from greying. Just boil B organic basil until it turn a deep colour, let it cool and wash it in and let it dry.

Vishwanath M: Head massage really work sir

Venom Dank: I am not losing hair at all but I am lookin to get a scalp massage.. I sometimes like to make my body fell like its getting touched by someone else I play around with a paper on my lips and eyes, and it feels good. I feel a scalp massage thingy will make me feel those feelings but for my head... just as if someone caressed me... I want that feeling.. Hope I can achieve it with that metal thingy..

Nicolexc L: Hi did you try argon oil and biotin?

Badosef: Hand you ever tried icing your scalp and treating hair loss like an injury?

Lea Seberg Fladstad: How long can it take to make your hair grow longer and thicker by scalp massaging every time you washing the hair if it really works? But how can scalp massage make your hair grow longer and thicker if your hair is most controlled by the genes and least don't have any vitamin deficiency?

Abirami: I recommend more plates more dates! He has a few videos on hair growth ❤️

Broken Butterfly: You should work on your neck muscles. Might even help grow your hair back
