#HairCare #LongHair #HairJourney

We'Ve been busting a lot of hair myths lately and talking about products that are good and bad for our hair, but i haven't recommended any specific products. So today we're going through my top 11 favorite hair products, Hello and welcome to the Queendom., I'm Sarah Ingle and today we're doing a favorite things list., Since we have been busting so many hair myths, you guys have asked for what specific products i use. Today we're. Finally, gon na do that, so without any further ado, let's dive into the list. item number one is not actually something you use on your hair, it's something you can use to test your own hair products before you use them a ph tester. These are what i would probably recommend for most people, they're cheap. You get a hundred in a pouch, a pouch. I don't know what this is a container. You guys know. I tend to be a little bit extra with things, and so i did a thing. I did a thing, i got a thing, look what i got look what i got. This is a ph ph60s, spear, ph tester and look how legit this is. I would not recommend this to most of you because most of you aren't filming videos constantly and testing tons and tons of different hair products trying to recommend other people. If you guys haven't watched my shampoo video, it will explain in more detail the importance of ph in all of your hair products. Two-Thirds of the shampoos that you'll find on the market, just at your local store, have a ph, that's too high and can be very damaging for your hair. I would recommend these not necessarily my big fancy kit, but look at this. You guys Is this is not the coolest thing ever We'll be using this in videos.. I'Ve already used it to test things that we're gon na show. Today. item number two has been on my list so long that it was even on my 2017 favorite things list that wasn't even a hair related list. It was just favorite things in general and it is making return. It is called new wash. This is not a shampoo, it is not a conditioner, but it can replace both using. This is not the same as the no poo method is it and it is not a co-wash. It'S a completely new way to wash hair and that's why they titled it new. Wash this is from a company called hair story. The president of hair story has a phd in pharmacology and biochemistry this stuff works by cleaning out the soil from your hair and doesn't break the moisture barrier, and so it leaves behind just the stuff that needs to be there and, at the same time also conditions. Your hair, this is not sponsored by the way, and you know what i'm probably stupid for plugging them so much and not doing a sponsored video. I'Ve spent a lot of money with them because i believe in what they do. It'S great for any kind of hair, whether you have super super curly, hair or super super thin straight hair. This stuff is fantastic for color treated hair. You can wash color treated hair with this so many times and because of the way that it cleans, it leaves that color there. So your color will stay vibrant for much longer. What'S also nice about it. Is they don't come in all the plastic packaging? It is cruelty, free, there's, one ingredient that makes it not vegan. There is keratin in it which is derived from sheep's wool. It'S animal friendly sheep need their wool sheared, so i don't feel like i'm damaging any animals with this i'd stopped using this for a while, because i did find that it takes a long time to wash your hair with this. You really need to scrub and scrub. I liked it while i used it, and i thought it was amazing how, when you come out of the shower, your hair just feels so soft and conditioned, and you only had to use one product. I'Ve switched back to this. I just ordered this new one that i haven't even opened yet and i'm going to at least for the foreseeable future, be using just this part of the reason i'm switching over to this and i feel like we can overcome some of those hurdles where it was Taking a really long time is because of item number three item number three on the list: is this little hair, scrubber thingy from hair story? I think this is silicone. It'S this soft little bendy pokers! You can use to scrub your head, while you're in the shower, and it's just the right amount of like pokiness to massage your head, but it's also very, very smooth, so it's not going to catch on your hair and and rough up. The cuticle. This, for me, has been a huge game changer. It made the process so much quicker and i actually felt more like. Oh, i have the sensation of cleaning my head because it's like kind of digs into it more without it being too rough, where i feel like. I'M damaging my hair, so i really like this little guy and i have a feeling he and i will be good friends for a very long time to come. I don't know why i'm addressing it like it's a pet or something the next two items on the list are, if you don't want to go for one of these hair story products. I understand that they're kind of expensive when you compare them to the price of salon, quality shampoos. They actually have shown that in the long run, they're cheaper. But i know a lot of people do not buy salon. Quality shampoos and something you're going to get at target or from the drugstore is definitely going to be cheaper than something like this. The next two products i have on the list are shampoos that you can use to clean your hair that are either from drugstore target or from amazon that i have tested with my little ph testing kit here to make sure that they are in the right. Ph range number 4 on the list is this apple, cider, vinegar, blend shampoo from aveeno, there's a shampoo and a conditioner. I got these from target. The apple cider, vinegar, mixed in with the shampoo, makes the ph so much lower than most things that you will find at a drugstore. I did find it was very effective. I know i mentioned recently in a video apple cider, vinegar, dumped straight on your head. Has a ph too low? Yes, it does but apple cider, vinegar when it's an ingredient with something usually just helps to make the entire ph balance considerably lower, which it does in this case, so apple cider vinegar, can be a great ingredient to look for. But it's not something you ever want to just dump straight on to your head number five. Is this purple shampoo for my blonde friends, the purple helps to cancel out brassiness so, especially if your hair starts to get really yellow and you have blonde hair and you want to tone some of that out. This stuff works great. I was not able to test the ph level of this before until i got my new little kit, because the purple stuff in this wound up dying the entire strip, and i could not read the results - turns out. It'S actually a great ph level, who knew also. I got it from amazon and i know a lot of times. Hairdressers will tell you, don't get your hair products on amazon because you never would know what you're getting you might be getting something expired. I got this on amazon and the ph is right. This gigantic thing has lasted a long time and it is nowhere near empty. I know there's some other ingredients like some people like don't want sulfates in their shampoos. I haven't vetted every single ingredient, but if you're looking for a shampoo that is in the right ph range - and i did use this for a long time - it's in the right range - you guys know i'm a big fan of air drying, my hair, so the next Two products on the list are meant for air drying. Number. Six is another hair story: product called hair balm. This is specifically made for air drying, your hair. You can use it while it's wet, you can use it while it's dry and it's fantastic for all different hair types. It really knocks out that frizz and just gives your hair a polished. Look, whether you have much finer, thinner, straighter, hair or you have curly like 4c hair. This stuff works great. I just bought another container of it, even because i ran out, and i cannot for the life of me get any more out of here. So i have a new one fresh in my bathroom number. Seven is a product i mentioned recently in my hair, routine video and it is a hair cc cream 10-1 complete correction leave-in, the 10 things that it says that it does is moisture, shine, smoothness, softness, uv protection, manageability strength, anti-breakage heat protection and light hold, and one Of the things i like about it that it does have uv protection in it, i don't know if the hair balm does. This is the one product i'm talking about today that i did not specifically test the ph for it. However, you don't usually have to worry as much about any sort of conditioning products being in the right ph range. Usually they are it's more the shampoos that they tend to to sell that have a way too high of ph this, along with the the apple cider, vinegar, shampoo, was what i was using in my video, where i picked up lola, that was just air dried hair. I didn't do anything except for air dry it. I thought it looked particularly nice, so i do really like this stuff as well, and it comes from amazon and i believe it was pretty cheap. So i also like that this one is a hundred milliliters, which is the maximum amount that you're allowed to bring on a plane versus the hair. Balm is 114 milliliters, which is too big to bring on a plane. So, if you're looking for something where you don't have to put the product into a separate package, this is a nice little one to bring those are our two air drying products and the next two are for things. If you do feel like you want to blow dry or style your hair with heat tools, these are the options that i have for you today. Number eight, i bet you could guess, is another hair story product. This one is called dressed up. This is specifically made for the times that you want to blow dry your hair or use heat styling with it. I really like this. I haven't done tons of research on it, but i've done a lot of research on hair story in general and i've had good results with it. I don't use it very often because i very rarely blow dry or heat style. My hair number nine is, i believe, the only technically salon product. I think the hair story ones are sold in salons, but you can get them directly from their websites as well, but this is a salon product called rnco park, ab blowout balm, the girl who touched my hair. The first time i ever met her years and years and years and years ago it sold me this and i love it. It does a great job. Obviously, i don't use it very often because this is embarrassingly old, i'm sure it's probably expired, but on occasion i do still use it and it works great. It'S got a lot of ingredients in it that i've heard good things about. I have not ph tested it, but again, usually things that are more like a styling or conditioning product. You don't have to worry about that yeah, it just works really well, and so i want to put it on the list. The last two items on the list are a little bit more of a wild card. Number 10 is shearing scissors. I highly recommend to anybody interested in caring for their hair that you invest in a quality pair of hair cutting shearing scissors. If you take these scissors from your office or kitchen drawer and try and use those to cut your hair they're too blunt and are just going to wind up splitting your hair again, i'm not recommending that you cut your hair yourself. If you want to do that, please by all means go ahead. I use these just for if i find a split end and i'm like oh, i found a split end. Do i find one? Do i find one somewhere? I don't see one right now, but if i did see one i could take this go up from that little split end a little bit and just snip it right off, but please don't do that unless you have scissors that are meant to cut hair, otherwise you're Just causing yourself more work and you're wasting your time. The last one on the list is something super easy and also has benefits for your skin. Not just your hair. Number 11 is a silk or satin pillowcase. I know this is like a whole pillow, not just a pillowcase, but it's because i use it every night and it's really right off my bed. I was just reading in a chemistry textbook. Yes, i literally read chemistry. Textbooks now for fun. Slash research research is fun. I guess one of the main things that damages hair is just normal grooming and normal wear and tear on your hair, especially when you're brushing your hair or sleeping when you're just roughing your hair, all around on things very rough on the cuticle. But if you are using a silky soft, satiny pillowcase, it's much nicer to your hair you're, much less likely to get it all roughed up all over the place as well as it also is better for your skin, both from an anti-wrinkle and anti-acne perspective. Yeah. I feel like i should just go to sleep now. Yay also, please make sure that you're washing your pillowcase frequently that's like an easy life hack that you can use to reduce the amount of acne that you get. You can also put your hair up in like a little silk bonnet is very helpful and even just having silk sheets on your bed too., It's one less thing for your hair to get roughed up, against. Anyways there we have it. Those right now are the things that i use and i hope that it's helpful for you guys., If you guys have any favorite hair things that you have that you'd recommend. Please leave those in the comments, because I want to hear from you guys in the comments below what your favorite hair products are.. If you guys want to see more videos, remember to subscribe and ring the little bell if you want those to come right to you.. Thank you guys so much for watching and I'll see you next time. I have a hair in my mouth Ew Ew., It's a hair video, but not that kind Ahh There it was. I knew there was a hair in there.

Sarah Ingle: What are your favorite haircare essentials that you like to use?

Katherine Morelle: As someone who sews a lot, and has done a fair amount of research on fibres and fabrics- just a little bit of info: Silk is a type of fibre. It’s a natural fibre produced by silkworms. So it is not vegan friendly. Satin is a weave. They are not interchangeable terms. You can have silks that are quite rough, because the threads have been woven in a way that leaves a rougher surface. You can also have a satin that is made of a fibre other than silk- usually polyester. Now, I’d never recommend wearing polyester because it’s plastic, and that’s just uncomfortable. It’s also very harmful to the environment, shedding micro plastics that are consumed by pretty much everything. And plastic isn’t good to wear either, especially as I live in a semi-tropical region. Makes for being very sweaty indeed (could you imagine wrapping yourself in plastic wrap during the height of summer?) But if all you need is something that is very smooth to the touch, a poly satin will work just fine. I wouldn’t really recommend a cotton sateen though. It’s a sateen instead of a satin because although it’s woven in a similar way as satin, cotton fibres are very short, so you don’t get quite the same result. The main issue that might come up with a cotton or linen pillowcase (regardless of the weave), is that these fibres are very moisture-wicking. Which makes them amazing to wear, but not so great for keeping your hair as moisturised. Cotton is made from cotton (obviously), and linen is made from the fibres of the flax plant- these are the vegan friendly natural fibres (as opposed to silk and wool). And while linen is by far the best possible fabric to wear in hot or humid conditions, it’s probably the worst for a pillowcase because it *really* wicks moisture. So the best possible option would be a silk satin pillowcase or scarf/bonnet. Not only will it be smooth, it will also be cooler to the touch, which you might prefer if you live in a hot or humid climate. Silk can work to trap heat, but it can also work to keep heat out- I wear silk stockings in both the winter (not that we have much of one here) and in the summer, and I find that especially in the summer, they keep my legs at a nice steady temperature. Poly satin will work just as well to prevent breakage, but may not work as well to regulate the temperature of your head and neck. So if it’s hot where you live, or you tend to get sweaty and hot at night, it’s probably worth the splurge to buy a silk satin pillowcase. Maybe save money by sewing it yourself. It’s literally just three rectangles, and you can use your current pillowcase to get a pattern. It’s likely a lot cheaper to buy a yard of silk satin than it is to buy an already made pillowcase. And it will probably he the easiest sewing project you’ll ever come across. And at the bottom of the list is cotton or linen- a cotton sateen will be smoother, but not as smooth as a silk or poly satin, due to the shortness of cotton fibres. And generally, cotton and linen will wick the moisture out of your hair. So wear those fibres in summer to stay dry and cool and comfy, but they’re not the best for pillowcases. They’re great as bedsheets though, but if you can splurge on silk satin bedsheets... buy that would be a significant splurge and it’s not at all necessary. Cotton and linen are perfectly fine for sheets. Here ends my little fabric-science Ted talk.

Lucia Ayaso: Coconut oil changed my hair for life. Warm coconut oil treatments. And a massage while it's all over, preferably upside down helps with blood flow. My hair was so healthy there for allowing it to grow longer while in a healthier state.

Isabel Knutsen: Garnier ultimate blends nourishing hair food banana & shea 3-in-1 hair mask, conditioner and as a leave in and also another one is a wooden hair brush these are definitely my two favourite things to use. Many thanks for sending this video very helpful. Kindest regards Isabel

KatherineJoanna: I tried New Wash and found that it is not conditioning enough for my hair. It left it very tangled, so I had to use conditioner on top of it. It also did not cut down the amount I was washing my hair, so it ended up being super pricey. Regular cowashing has been way better for me, which I never thought I would say because I have an oily scalp. But it really has extended my wash by an extra day.

Beep-Beep Watermelon: I love putting coconut oil in my hair before I go outside in the sun for a long time. I usually put it in a braid so it doesn’t look greasy and the sun warms the oil and adds extra moisture

Reece Peace: Too much keratin in the hair can build up and create breakage from the crown to the ends. This has happened to me before. I never tried “new wash” but from the sound of it, it should not be the only wash because eventually you will need to clarify.

Winged Art: I’ve tried sooo many different products but my favorite ones are from garnier honey treasures collection. I use their shampoo, conditioner, hair mask, and miracle nectar and it has made my hair feel very healthy. I also highly recommend daily vitamins and hair vitamins- my hair used to grow super slow like a few inches a year but after I started taking vitamins and drinking a lot of water, I grew over a foot in a year and a half.

strong power thank you: Finally someone I can trust with my hairgrowth journey. I had to cut it so short because of overbleaching so this helps alot.

auttosave: I tried the Aveeno apple cider shampoo+conditioner on your suggestion and WOW what a difference! I think this is the first time in my life that my hair didn’t feel stripped and desperate for conditioner after the shampoo step. My mind was blown feeling that my hair was still soft before conditioner! Thank you!!

hiiiiiii: I love using all your hair care tips they make my hair so healthy and long thank you ❤

Ducklingscap: I love that you recommend different shampoos but there is way more to a good shampoo than just the ph level

Random V Chick: I used New wash for a year and I've never had more greasy hair in my life!. It started out good but after a month or so it looked like I had tons of oil in it and I've read about a LOT of people who experienced the same. Also, it's super expensive! Because the product is SO THICK I had to use more than I would with a regular shampoo. Not recommending it all all.

Tracy: They changed the formula with the CC cream. It used to be sooooo much better. I was reading reviews on it while seeing maybe there are two different options. So many people where mentioning that the formula changed and not as good. I’m intrigued by the hair story.

Nicole Delmonico: Hi Sarah, can you share what the pH level was of the Aveeno shampoo you tested? Thanks!

L S: you just saved my life with the new wash!! my hair are super dyed and I need to keep my color in order to make less dying

Hope Gleich: I personally love jojoba oil for girls with 2c-3a curls... it is so nourishing and great to bat down a bit frizz

Linden Peters: I hope you mention in this video that if you use that blowout balm frequently, you will need sulfates to strip it off your hair, otherwise the buildup will block moisture from getting to your hair and it will just dry out and break.

Lego Mego: I use briogio currently. I will probably switch to hairstory when I’m out. I am sulphate, silicone and fragrance free with my hair. I still get tons of splits and breakage. I have really fine wavy hair, it’s just always been super brittle and easily damaged. Been using silk pillowcases for years and also shower filters for ph and chlorine filtering. All of this and still get breakage ‍♀️

Vogue Baddies: “It’s A Ten Deep Conditioner Plus Keratin”always makes my hair feel amazing, soft, silky, straight and frizz free but I’m not sure if it’s actually good for my hair? Could you make a video on their products?

Rebecca LaVanture: Do you think PH is more important than the ingredients in the shampoo? Such has sulfates, silicones... etc. I've been trying to avoid certain ingredients that are too harsh or can leave buildup in my hair.

angwls ☁️: Thank you for this, I have long hair and want to make it healthier, and grow longer. Thank you!

Frances Chew: I'd love to know your take on the curly girl routine. I know some parts work well like scrunching and using microfiber towels, but the whole thing of being antisulfates is a bit much. And I'd like to know your take on shampoo and conditioning bars.

Kristina Lynn: LOL that pH tester is nicer than the one I actually use as a scientist to test pH in streams so extra, love it

Katie and Kate: So pretty can’t believe it!! Love all the hair tips :)

Kim Carr: I don't know if you will see this (I really hope you do) but what advice can you give for hair that is not gray but passed gray and 100% white? Do the same rules and products apply? Are gray/white strands any different than regular virgin hair? Should I be on a special routine? Thanks for any help you can offer!

Elizabeth Deen: Could you do a video about your experience with highlighting long hair and maintaining the quality? What kind of damage you've experienced (dryness, breakage etc.) Or avoided? It would be super helpful because very few extremely long hair ladies highlight and I never hear any info about it.

F . Z . Bck: Sarah can you please try ethique 's concentrates. They're a sustainable alternative to liquid products in a plastic bottle. It would be so cool if you try the efficiency of the hair products .

Peachy Heartthrob: I have straight hair and it looks better the less products I use. Lately I only use shampoo and it actually feels softer then when I used conditioner.

carissa jones: Oh my gosh I have been looking for someone like you for so long!! Buying the shampoo ASAP!

BlackThornRose127: I don’t know about that New Wash. Being a hairstylist that specializes in Vivids, the fact that it didn’t strip any of that blue color in the demo picture is concerning. Vivids only stain the surface of the hair, they don’t have any chemicals to penetrate thru to the cuticle. Seeing that it didn’t remove any color whatsoever, leads me to believe that it doesn’t clean of what’s “sitting” on your hair, excess oils, product buildup, hard water build up, etc. Especially if you wash your hair correctly, only focusing it at the scalp and not scrubbing down thru the ends. Also, just because drugstore shampoos and conditioners have a “normal” pH level, doesn’t mean that they’re not still full of fillers such as silicones and waxes. I’ve seen that as well, that also causes probably the worst buildup on the hair over time.

Nemisha Sharma: Sarah great video! Loved it. I want to try New Wash so badly but they don't ship to India :( Could you share the pH level of the Aveeno Apple Cider Vinegar Blend Shampoo you talked about in the video? Thank you! :)

Lady Bubbles: Wow this was a really great and informative video! Thank you!!

mildred davis: LOVE your videos! Lola was so cute! Always wanted a Pomeranian!

Anna: Hi Sarah! Some of those products are my favourite products too Btw loved the video❤

Xlovethespiritx: I have had balms lotions conditions thin the hair shaft before so I don’t use anything like that. Just salt water really for some waves. Consider that the styling items stay on your hair all day and for some of us .. all week :)

Khadijah Idris: Me: Mom, buy me these hair care products Mom:It's too expensive go use aloe vera from the garden instead Me:Frowning face

Ocean Waves: I was using a shampoo and conditioner for one year I always checked the ingredients but then my hair was acting different that’s when I realized that it has demthicone and lots of bad ingredients and I was in shock but at least I know what was making my hair like that I learned from my mistakes

Maylee Hinz: Have you tried a fermented rice water+ essential oils treatment on your hair? Is it true that it actually balances the ph of hair?

Natalia Orchard L.: Hi! I’ve just discovered your channel and I’m OBSESSED! Please do a curly hair or curly method video

Lucia Ayaso: R&co and Bumble n' Bumble make great products. I also love Kerastase by L'oreal and Shu Uemura

Sunnyx: This was a great video <3 Please post more your videos are amaizing :))

Mia Ukrainetz: this video was so helpful!! thank you sarah!!! <3

Charlotte Wheeler: Do the Aveeno ACV shampoo and conditioner have sulfates/silicones in them?

Arya n J: How long did it take for you to have this long hair?

The Wonderful World Of Anna: You should review or test sulfate and silicone free shampoo and conditioner

Miss Z: The best drugstore shampoo I found is Eucerin baby wash&shampoo. Under $8 for 13.5 oz per dr dray's recommendation

Kitty Unicorn 56: Well this is funny my mother had recently bought that Apple Cider Vinegar Blend Shampoo and Conditioner. (Ps. Who else saw the purple Pascale?)

Lily Snape: Very interesting. Even while it is not really for people like me. I'm from Germany and prefer to not buy on amazon. Buuuut the PH test thing is pretty interesting. And I can guess it is possible to find similar products here with the help of the incredients list

Chris Garby: Hi, what other brandsof conditioners and leave in conditioners do you recommend?

Mya 😝: can you test the ph levels for the shampoo and conditioner called moisture and make sure it is healthy for hair

Ashleigh F: You should do a video on drugstore products that are clean and safe or alternative recipes like homemade? Please, I love your videos. I’ve been binging all day thanks :) subscribed as well!

valentina holovka: Thank you so much for posting, watching you is what gets me through my days.

Chop Skull Theatre: Great video! Really enjoyed the advice.

Sil Sa: Nice selling strategy by the company to tell people New Hair is not a shampoo, nor a co-wash... It is actually formulated like a conditioner/co-wash, so no magic about that. Some emulsifiers and conditioning agents in there I wouldn't wanna have on my scalp though. Thank you though for your recommendations.

Selma: omg your videos are amazing the amount of work you've put in it wow i'm in admiration <3<3<3<3 thnks

Annie: Have you tried new wash deep? I’m curious about that one bc my scalp gets p oily

Nivswayy: just discovered your channel and im so glad i did!

Angie Garcia: Could you do a video on dry shampoo? Thank you :)

yasmine hourie: yay i’m so excited for this video!! i’ve already started buying more skincare products so haircare it’s your turn!

Daphne N: Thank you for doing the work for us.

Gabby Burchnall: Sarah my last shower I was not paying attention to what I was doing, I washed my hair shower gel!

Mars Chapple: Does the silicone scalp scrubber help with dandruff?

Egg Owers: Is air-drying your hair the same thing as blow-drying it and is blow-drying it bad for your hair?

Sára Kuzsner: I would love to get NewWash, but getting a 32oz pack literally costs more than my my monthly rent and all of my utility bills combined :D

Cassandra Scarborough: Hey I love your ideas!!

H0NEYMOURN: What are the ph levels of the aveeno shampoo and conditioner?

Charlene Turgeon: Can adding ACV in with your shampoo help it?
