Step by step tutorial on how to properly shampoo hair before doing a silk press.

I am a Licensed Cosmetologist, and hair straightening specifically for black women has been a specialty of mine for around three years now.

In this video I show you my absolute fool proof guide to getting A perfect shampoo for your light and airy silk presses!

Products:

Basic Hair Care Clarifying Shampoo

Kenra Moisture Balance shampoo and conditioner

Kenra moisturizing oil

Steam for 7-10 mins

Hey my name is care brianne, i'm a licensed cosmetologist here in mansfield, texas and on a regular basis. I do shampoo my guest hair. This is my favorite shampooing technique. Most of these techniques, i learned, while i was in cosmetology school for reference, i went to palmetto school in arlington texas, but i also attended a few other classes regarding hair health as well as silk presses, since straightening is my main priority in the job. So, as you can see, i am fully emerging her hair into warm water and i'm loosening up her scalp with the beds of my finger. This is so important whenever you're about to shampoo, because you just want to wake up the scalp. You want to wake up their hair and you want to allow the hair cuticles to kind of open and receive some cleaning. So, as you saw i'm using clarifying shampoo for clarifying shampoo. The main reason i use clarifying shampoo is to remove any oils, any buildup and anything that will hinder good product getting let in so. I scrub, okay, um. The first round is usually not the most steadiest, but i definitely do it as like. A rough draft kind of get me ready for the second round of clarifying shampoo um, but this one i'm really focusing on the hairline, as you saw and the middle of the head, because those you know those just have the most buildup from any gel or edge Control that we're using and then you know no one really touches. You know the apex of the head, all that much so it always gets built up. I'M gon na rinse it out really good and go in one more time with clarifying shampoo. This is definitely optional, but personally to me it makes the biggest difference, and it makes me feel good that her hair is squeaky, clean and everything like so um. If you are a cosmetologist and you shampoo, hair on a regular basis. You know that the more you shampoo, the studier it gets with each shampoo, the more suds the cleaner. So as you can see on our next shampoo, it took seconds okay to literally set up and get this much bubbles from her shampoo. So that just tells me that the first shampoo did what it needed to do. The first shampoo ran, so this shampoo can walk okay, but the second shampoo is going to get ready for our moisturizing shampoo, as you saw in the beginning of the video. Her hair was definitely struggling with some dryness, so i decided to use a new product. This product is for moisture and it smells delicious. It literally smells like green apple, and i want to use it on everyone, but you know every shampoo isn't for everyone. So this shampoo is the camera moisturizing shampoo, it's the moisture balance one and it also comes with the moisturizing oil. So basically, it's an additive, so you just put the shampoo in your hand, and then you put a few drops of the moisturizing oil and then you go ahead and then you apply, do you guys see how the shampoo immediately set it up? This is how you protect your good shampoos that you spend a lot of money on um, instead of constantly only going in with these shampoo and continuously wasting your product, because these don't necessarily clean as well as the clarifying shampoo. So this shampoo definitely set it up. Very quickly because the hair was already clean and now we're just inserting some moisture. So we this shampoo, really doesn't even have to work as hard as it would have. If we didn't do the clarifying shampoo, i'm just really making sure i get on her hairline, the middle of her head and also the shaft of her hair, don't be afraid to get the shaft of the hair. The shaft of the hair gets dirty too. I definitely scrub it up dub over there um. Also, if you don't have this head, massager thing um it's from lex therapy, you can find it on amazon. If you don't have one of those definitely go ahead and massage your guests scalp for at least a minute or two, this is going to help some blood flow regulation in her scalp and in turn, leave her feeling really good. But you as a professional know, blood circulation is definitely the key to hair growth and healthy progression whenever it comes to your hair journey. So i go ahead and do that this massage usually lasts around one to two minutes. It'S really not that long, and this is everyone's favorite part of the shampoo, it's totally mine and i love doing it because it's so satisfying right after i give her a massage i rinse and i'm still rinsing with warm water um, because i still want to keep Her cuticles open so that it can still be open to receiving the only time i use cool water is to seal. So i use cool water at the end. I never use it while i'm actually shampooing, so i'm rinsing out her hair really well making sure i get her scalp, i'm doing it a few times and then i just squeeze out all the extra water and then i go in with my um camera moisturizing conditioner. This is from the same line, and this shampoo, not shampoo, this conditioner y'all smells divine and it soaks into the hair beautifully um. As you can see, the steamer has started so perfect timing and we are just going to make sure we get everywhere. I always start at the end, and then i use the extra conditioner on my hands to go ahead and get her perimeter just very lightly. You definitely don't want the perimeter to be heavy and we steam for 10 minutes after we steam. We immediately go into rinsing. Her hair with lukewarm water, it will be lukewarm to you but cold to her scalp, so just be careful that you're not actually renting them with cold water, that it's actually look warm and um. You know it'll just make them a little bit more comfortable. That is not literal ice on their scalp um. So, as you can see, i gather all the hair and i rinse the bottom first and then i start to rinse the top um. This is very important because you definitely want to make sure that all of the conditioners out of the hair, because conditioner is very much well known to make your soak press heavy and we don't want heavy hair. We don't want heavy hair at all. Never did never. Will so i always make sure to completely rinse out the conditioner, and then i turbine my guests up always this is an easy way to terpene your hair up. Thank you for tuning in this is all i have to share with you guys today. Um, i'm curious. You guys determine your guests up or um. Do you just kind of dry their hair off and then send them to the chair in like a bun or something comment down below which one you do i'm very curious um but yeah. I definitely want to show you guys, um, her hair after um, the shampoo and the silk press service. So if it wasn't for a great shampoo, her hair would not be moving as you can see, while we're trimming her hair has movement she's breathing. Her hair is moving um. This is what we want whenever we're doing a micro link. Sorry well yeah a micro link install as well, but whenever we're straightening, we want to make sure we have a great foundation to work with and yeah. Thank you for watching.
