Hair Basics - Proper Shampoo Technique

One of the key points in doing a proper shampoo is making sure that the hair is completely wet, so you have the perfect emulsification of your product. At this point, we're ready to apply our shampoo one pump is usually more than enough, depending on the length of the hair. We make sure we squeeze all the excess water out of the hair, allowing for the conditioner to really penetrate and get into the cuticle of the hair shop. Just a very small drop, depending on the length and thickness of your hair, and we spread through the hair. Trying not to get the conditioner too close to the scalp, as the scalp already generates enough, its own oils now taking a wide tooth comb. We comb the conditioner right through to the ends making sure that all the hair is covered from root to end with conditioner, and now we leave it for about one to two minutes, making sure that it really penetrates into the hair shaft. Now, at this point, we're ready to rinse out our conditioner we're going to squeeze out any excess water and then we're going to dry with the towel. Never do this. This way causes friction and may damage the hair. What I recommend is to just gently, Pat the hair like so, and just allow the towel to soak up any excess water.
