Hey youtube: what's going on super excited for this video, if you are new to my channel, welcome i'm a cosmetic chemist and i have the privilege of teaching people how to start hair care lines and teaching you guys how to understand ingredients for your hair, okay and Today we are talking about if gender matters when it comes to hair care products, does it even matter um. We already talked about the differences between male hair versus female hair. We'Re going to break down the anatomy of a product. Can you use a dew shampoo? Can you use a female shampoo? Are there any differences there? I guarantee you're going to learn something new, so stay tuned? Okay, so when it comes to the anatomy of male versus female hair, so the biggest difference is that guys, their hair grows super fast. You ever notice that a guy can like literally cut off his entire hair and be bald and, like two weeks later he has a full headphone of hair and we're like the heck bro. I'M just trying to get to can't get an inch in two weeks. But no guys can get it into two weeks. Why is that? Because guys have a very active growth bait, they have a very active anagen phase. On top of that, when you go from the telogen phase, which is the end of the hair cycle, that shedding phase guys go straight into the energy cycle, super quick. So, even though they can shade their hair off and they are shedding, their hair will go back rapidly. However, us girls, females, women, our hair, has a longer active bro face so yeah our hair may not grow as super fast as dudes, but uh we're getting longer. Lengths for the most part when it comes to our hair, now you do see some dudes who got some long hair, but for the most part you know guys their hair is going to be shorter than a female. On top of that, guys will experience hormonal shifts a lot quicker when it comes to hair loss more than females, or at least a lot quicker than females? Hence the reason why most guys, who are like in their 40s and sometimes in their 30s, you know, experience thinning of the hair and hair loss, a lot quicker than females will when they enter into menopause. That'S pretty much it when it comes to the differences of our hair, male versus female hair growth cycle hormonal changes. That'S pretty much it okay! So when it comes to the anatomy of a hair care product, the first thing that makes up a hair care product is the formula right. So a shampoo is a formula. A conditioner is a formula. What makes up a shampoo and a conditioner, as you guys know, are ingredients right now getting straight to the point, because i know we always any time we are working with equal opportunity, ingredients, okay, meaning these ingredients don't discriminate they're, not oh you're, a female. I can't work with you you're a male. I can't work with you anyway. Acetyl alcohol is a fatty alcohol that thickens the product you're going to find that in both male and female products. Side note: this is something that i cover in the consultations that i do for those who want to start haircut lines as well. The hindu moneta sofa is a cationic ingredient designed to condition the hair and get the slit to the hair you're going to find that in a male conditioner and a female conditioner meaning there are no differences when it comes to ingredients. Now the difference is this already. Marketing marketing is the difference. It'S all about how the product is marketed. Okay, you can have the same exact formulation, all right, i'm letting you guys know some stuff. Okay, you can have the same exact formulation. Put it in two different bottles. Make one pink make one blue. The blue one is a little bit rugged. Looking you know the pink one is more soft and feminine put some flowers on it right right. The blue one gon na have a very woodsy earthy type of manly smell and the girl female women want to have more of a floral citrusy feminine smell. That'S all it is marketing and when we market products is to attract a specific customer. So if my target is a male i'm going to do what i can to attract that male, i want to put things like you know, quick washing of the hair and quick five minute shampoo, because guys, like things, are quick to the point right, whereas for a Female i'm going to say something like you know, very deeply. Hydrating takes 30 minutes to achieve perfected results. You know what i'm saying the wording is going to be different too, and it works. Marketing works and marketing is actually a lot of fun. In my opinion, because it helps to create a better experience for you guys when you guys are shopping, you know um so yeah. That is like the main difference when it comes to gender hair care products. Girls guys, if you see something of the opposite sex that you like in the aisle, buy it. You know if you like it, stick with it. Ladies, if you don't mind your hair is feeling kind of woodsy, then you know and guys, if you don't mind your hair smelling kind of florally, you know whatever but same thing tomato to model, but take the time all right, guys hope you have enjoyed this video And learn something new if you like stuff, like this, be sure to subscribe and make sure your notifications are on, so you do not miss another curly chemistry video i enjoy teaching this topic with. Bye,

SheRea DelSol: EVERYTHING is marketing. Once we learn that, our hair journey will transform. Same with kids products. All marketing lol. .

HrhSophia TheFirst: My husband uses whatever I buy him and I look for products to address whatever the issues are that he is facing. He doesn't care about the smell and neither do I! I worked in PR for a decade and I know that crap is all BS. Like Tide for cold water, lol I did P&G marketing and the only difference was the label! Any liquid Tide will work in cold water, absolutely hilarious! I have started using Olaplex 0 and 3 and will be using 1 and 2 in my twice a year relaxers going foward.

Michelle Jones: That is soooo true.. marketing is able to even price items differently for the simple fact that they label it.. for women.. crazy right.. but true.. they know statics & all that jazz to do so.. I loveee ur videos I learn something every time thanks

Bertie R. Simon-Rich: One thing that I've learned about my hair is that it likes hair grease instead of oil as a sealant. Thanks to Tonya, I recently tried Kuza Beeswax Hair/Braid Conditioner. My hair states moisturized longer and my hair loves it. By the way Tonya, your hair is GORGEOUS!!!

Washambi Swimp: Genuinely I love how informative your channel is. You're super smart and you work super hard on these videos and I appreciate that you really just seem like you want your viewers to learn

Angela Allen: Your presentations are so to the point. You have your intro; your subject matter and summation. This is important to someone who is a kinesthetic learner like myself. Two weeks of binging your videos/tutorials have helped my hair immensely. Biggie Fatt thank you.

Freda: Loved this topic! My boyfriend loves his shampoo n conditioner, he uses CREW ( I think that’s how u spell it). I used it once, very tingly on the scalp. I immediately thought if they market this to women they could make twice as much! What I’ve learned about my hair is she is very needy, she craves moisture!

Sable 711: Your hair is looking extra thick and fluffy today! Beautiful!

melanievia: Good information! My husband's hair grows almost instantaneously after a hair cut. Me, hair grows at a snail's pace. I figured it was a difference in hormones.

STEPHANIE: It's so hard to ignore how bomb your hair is looking. So much volume❤

Denise Moore: Makes total sense! It’s all about marketing to who’s spending more money. Found out my hair is actually high porosity, after thinking just in the last year it was low porosity. Was so confused! Reverted back to the way I took care of it…using hair grease, again! Sometimes, well, most times…if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!!!

emmatine ukwuoma: I just learned from you that my 4c hair needs lighter product for better absorption. Because of my low porosity, I'm learning that I need more jelly, lotion, liquid products that will allow for easier and better product penettration. This is a game changer for me! I thank you!!

Sarail Vazquez Ortiz: I noticed that my hair looks, feels and perform way much better when aloe vera, honey and olive oil are on the ingredients of the products. Also I'm having less breakage and tangles when in my wash day I do a plastic rollers set and the day after I do a twist out adding just a little bit of grease.

Sarail Vazquez Ortiz: Recently (like a month ago) I bought the shea moisture men avocado butter and manuka honey deep conditioner just because the bottle was 15oz and cheaper than the female products and it's really good.

melanievia: Tonya, could you do a video on natural preservatives vs non-natural/synthetic preservatives? I purchase various haircare products (store bought, diy brands, etc.), but not sure the effect/benefit on hair.

francelina fumo: Hi Hi! I love your videos, I learn a lot. I am from Mozambique and learning more about my hair each day. This weekend I noticed that my hair loves the LOC method, compared to the LCO. :) Obrigada (Thank you, in Portuguese)!

Whitney Young: I learned that my hair loves both LCO and LOC method lol

Tim Tapp: Marketing makes the world go 'round! Thanks again for the information you stunning beauty

MS D: Loving your hair here My hair loves Olaplex No.3

Margaret White: My hair and nails have been growing like crazy since the middle of August. I also have been taking Steroids for a new ailment, that I was diagnose with in that month. I was already taking MSM and Biotin, so what is making my hair to average a half inch per month?

Black Bird: Is it me... I could barely concentrate on the content of this video... I was too distracted by how fabulous my girl is looking! The hair, the skin EVERYTHING! XXX

Lakesha Lohman: My hair usually cooperates with soaking wet hair after deep conditioning before a silk press and only using curl wax from Elasta QP or Creme of Nature Argan Oil spray. The press can last about three weeks.

uberhaute_naturalz: My scalp hates being clogged, I'm tender headed and my hair grows faster if I wash it often.

Jeannine Gorden: Your hair looks so voluminous today!!

Kerotsi: Thanks to this video, I'm no longer jealous of guys whose hair grows super fast, because for "us girls femaleswomen", that longer active growth phase is working for us, not against us, to get longer hair I wonder if you have a more active anagen phase, regardless of gender, would you get to the telogen phase quicker too?

FloraFloraFlora Jr.: I am learning to accept my hair will dramatically shed! For me, this is normal

Brenee Thomas: How did you achieve this look, its gorgeous!!!!

BIM: Her hair popping tonight tho. It’s got that Aztec clay mask happy look

Kimmie 822: I ❤️your platform you tell me something every time that I watch your channel what I have I learnt about my hair is the texture and porosity hair I hope I spelt it right ask your question do you ever go live

ArtzF1rstLady: I learned that my scalp only likes a little bit of oil on it, and it must be a light consistency. Too much oil makes my skin oily and gives me pimples. After oiling my scalp I use the rest of the oil on my hair and that’s it.

Amy Lozy: Your hair looks extra beautiful!! How did you style it? It's looking like it may be a stretched braid out?

Blackberry- Rose: You look so Beautiful. Never knew that the the only difference was marketing (the smell) and the play on words (make sense). You be dropping gems every time. I have recently learned my hair doesn’t do well with grape- seed oil if I put it on my hair it makes it hard and stiff. Tyfs.

Darrick White: So true. Carol's Daughter has been good for my hair.

LK: Love your hair! Good info, Thanks for sharing!!

shaz27: Your hair is just had to say…x

Reok: I love your hair! You are so pretty ❤️

Christopher Allen: As a man, I REALLY need to know what can work for me. Becaause whatever I'm doing isn't work.

D H: The higher price of products marketed for females also such as salon lines when makes just need maybe 2 products instead of 5.

Xiletelo Mabasa: This was very refreshing and interesting. Never thought about this regarding hair care products. Is it the same for skin care products?

Cumlinaiah Cummings: Butters' like leave in conditioner work great for my 4 a and my daughter hair, while grease works wonders for and not on her hair because she her hair is more like 3b fine hair so medium weight products r for her hair. My teenager daughter is more of a 3A and likes creamery products like the lotta body hair lotion she ❤ tht.

G. Brown: Hair is gorg...my scalp responds to msm. Seems better external than internal.

Tonia McClelland-Sample: Your hair is gorgeous ❤️

Adora Howell: 1 thing that I learned about my hair is that it doesn't like being left alone

Cheshire Dj: My hair may not like detangling brushes, even if it's made for kinky hair.

T Will: Your hair is showin ALL the way off !!!

ElegantPaws01: Your hair looks great.

Viciousone V: Omg actually using a tangle teezer has been wonders for me. Usually I use a wide tooth comb. Nope complete difference. Hair comes out smoother.. I tried grease this week as a sealant. I enjoyed using it it did lock in more moisture. But I need to layer a styler on top to define my curls more for my braid outs. Thanks Curly Chemisy. I followed the PMP method

Mizzezmellymel: So would you say marketing plays a part in black hair care vs. white hair care?

T Hunter: I have learned that my hair loves glycerin products. Also, I have learned not to put my hands in my hair too much other than comb and make neay and clean it will grow. So, you're saying both men and women can use the same shampoo and conditioner. Correct?

Vanessa Hearn: I always thought that their hair are products were a bit harsher. Now I know better! I learned that my prepoo better have oil in it. Pre conditioners do not work for me.

Angela Celeste May: Definitely true that marketing is messaging. The marketing for women and the marketing for men is most definitely targeted just like other marketing like for children, or for the black community and other groups.

S Maxwell: Wow .. marketing is something else .. thank you for this video .. my hair luvs think deep conditioner

Trina Morales: Could you do a video all on silicones and one on alll alcoholsDescribing differences please??

Cyndi Peterson: I learned I need Moisturizer and oil my hair every two days. Ohh, and my hair love pumpkin and Chamomile oil

Dawn AKA Pookie: TFS ❤

Yoon: Hello curly chemistry is the argan oil from gliss a good oil for high porosity curly hair

King hill: Happy Friday queen

Small businesses in Nigeria —Ofunne Molokwu: Gurl you the best

assiria carvalho: Can you show how you have done this hairstyle

Cheryl Frazier: How about buying the unseated. I notice men have more product for less price. Women have less product for a higher price. Same with deodorants.
