In my friend Cherie's household, wash day occurs once a week, and she has three heads of hair to manage. In this tutorial, I show you how I install bantu knots on Cherie's transitioning hair, two-strand twists on her oldest daughter and coiled ponytails on her youngest.

By the way, after tackling all three of them at once, I want to send special love and hugs to my mommies out there managing their own hair along with their girls' hair! I'm sure it takes a lot of time management and patience to get it all done each week. I hope this tutorial helps!

*These products were chosen because Cherie already has them in her possession at home. I wanted to show her how to use what she already has.

Total Time:

To set and style all of them (not including overnight setting) was about 4.5 hours.

Keep and Care:

Each of these ladies can maintain their styles by sleeping in a satin scarf, bonnet or combination of the two, and add oil to the scalp and hair as needed throughout the week.

In this tutorial, I'm going to show you bantu knots on my transitioning friend Sheree and a twist out and finger coils on her two baby girls. Sharia is a busy mom that not only has to keep up with her own hair but take care of her daughters. As well so I wanted to show her and all of you a way to use some of the same products on the entire family and a way to get everyone's hair done in as little time as possible, beginning with Sheree. I am going to start off with a protein treatment. She has been in a straight style for the past two weeks, so this is a good time to add some strength to her hair after thoroughly wetting, her hair, I am going to apply Palmer's coconut formula protein pack. What I love about this one is how the coconut milk and oil infused with the keratin and silk protein makes for a hydrated protein treatment. I am having Sheree do a protein treatment, at least every three to four weeks during her transition. These are available at most target locations as well as other drugstores for around two dollars. I am going to cover her hair with a plastic cap and have her sit under my hooded dryer for about 20 minutes to allow this to process after rinsing this out. I will shampoo Charisse hair two times with clear: ultra shake cleanse and nourish shampoos. This formula removes buildup while locking in moisture and is enriched with almond, coconut and Argan oils, along with shea butter, for a smooth hydrated finish, then I am going to use the smooth and nourished conditioner to smooth the scalp, reduce breakage and give the hair a healthy Moisturize feel this one is infused with shea butter, essential oils and zinc, which helps reduce shedding each of these go for around five dollars, each of retailers like Walmart and Target or online at drugstore, calm or Amazon. After about ten minutes, I will rinse the conditioner out with cool water and proceed to centuries, hair for drying. I am using Apogee curly thick moisture richly then, to give her hair some added protection slip and hydration. Then I am applying Mixed Chicks, leave-in conditioner for even more moisture and to help tame frizzing on the styling. In now I am going to detangle using the tail of my comb. I am going to divide out a section and then I will use my wide toothed shower comb to detangle you Charice hair is detangling rather easily this time because of the protein treatment and the added moisture from the leave ends. I am taking her hair and medium sized sections and securing them with the butterfly clip to help stretch the roots while drying. This will help tremendously when we get ready to install the bantu knots after all of the sections are set. I am going to have Charisse it under the hooded dryer for about 30 minutes to speed up dry time. While I move on to her girls at home, Cherie can definitely air dry like this. If she chooses and then move on to her daughter's hair, starting with the oldest kumara, I am going to use the clear ultra shea shampoo conditioner, as I did with Cherie. This will help you save money by using the same products where possible to begin you want to thoroughly wet the hair by using lukewarm or cool water to help prevent frizz and not damage the hair and scalp as hot water can be very harsh when you are Shampooing make sure you are using the fleshy part of your fingers and not your nails to cleanse the scalp. You should never scratch your baby, scalp or your own for that matter, with your fingernails always massage to stimulate proper circulation and prevent irritation or damage to the scalp after thoroughly rinsing out the shampoo, I am going to apply conditioner and cover with a plastic cap just Like you condition your hair, your baby's hair needs conditioning as well. They can play around the house while the conditioner processes, while Kimura, sits with her conditioner I'm going to get started on Delilah's hair, I'm going to use the same set of shampoo and conditioner and follow the same steps now back to Kamara. I'M going to rinse out the conditioner and use a cotton t-shirt to dry her hair. This is more gentle than using a regular towel and will keep some of the water in her hair, which will help with detangling and style setting to protect her hair. I am using Mixed Chicks leave in for kids. This formula has the same qualities as the original version, but is made without fragrance to be gentle on little people, this retails for thirteen dollars at Target or on mixed chicks website. Now, using my wide toothed shower comb, I'm going to detangle her hair making sure to start from the ends and work my way to the roots. Then I will divide her hair into four equal sections to twist her hair. I am going to use elastic yupi olive oil and mango butter, moisturizer and ecostyler olive oil gel, starting with the section in the back. I am going to use just a small dab of each product and smooth it through her hair. Then I will two strand twist it to the ends. After installing these twists, all over Kumar's head I'm going to allow her to air dry tonight, her mom will cover her head with a satin or silk scarf or bonnet. If your little one has issues keeping these on at night, try having them sleep on a satin pillowcase, now back to the liya after rinsing out her conditioner, i am using mix chicks Lehmann, as I did with her sister. They have very similar hair textures that appear to be a mix of three B and C. The major difference I see is that the baby's hair has just a little bit more density than her older sisters. Now I am going to use my wide toothed shower comb and detangle her hair. The same way, I did her sisters starting from the ends and working my way to the roots in sections. Now I am going to use a little eco styler gel to help smooth her hair into ponytails and use fabric graft holders to ensure her hair isn't pulled out when these are removed. I am using new, not natural, curl activator, to coil her hair. This formula keeps hair, hydrated and controls frizz with the blend of five natural oils. This product has a lot of slip, making it easy to comb through the hair and coils and don't be put off by the name activator. It'S definitely not greasy. It retails for 6.50 sent on new, knock online store, make sure you keep a spray bottle handy just in case sections get dry before you have a chance to get to them. I am spreading the curl activator throughout the entire ponytail artist and then coiling sections after installing all of the coils Daliah will air dry and sleep in a satin bonnet overnight. Her mom will leave her coils in and separate them later in the week. If she chooses, she can add some oil to her hair and scalp tomorrow and in the days after as necessary. Now that both girls are taken care of back to Cherie, I am going to use the elastic UT moisturizer and beautiful textures curl definer mousse, to set her bantu knots because Sheree still has lots of relaxed ends. I want to use a lightweight product that will moisturize and provide flexible hold, so a mousse like this will leave her hair soft yet defined you when installing your knots. First, you want to make sure that you're not using too much product so just use small dabs. Then you want to make sure that your hair is as smooth as possible, so you can use a soft bristle brush or a comb to help you easily distribute the product and stretch the hair when you're twisting make sure that you, wind your hair down and under To tuck so that the knot stays in place and sets into an even spiral. After all, the knots are installed Cherie will sleep in a satin scarf overnight to set them in the morning. Cherie and Kumar will come back, so I can complete their styles, but baby deliah gets to sleep in because her style is all finished to untwist both of their styles. I am going to use Eden, Bodyworks Cahawba monoi oil. What I love about this one is the blend of jojoba annoy and almond oils that leave the hair very soft and hydrated. It'S a lightweight oil. So it's good for styling, this oil retails for about ten dollars and most Walmart locations, or it's available online through several vendors coating. Your fingers with an oil like this will help take the twist down without frizzing them. Just make sure that you pull them apart and slide your fingers all the way down to the ends. After separating each twist a few times and fluffing, I'm going to add moisture to her scalp using clears nourishing scalp and hair oil, the formula is concentrated, so you only need a little and it's lightweight, so it won't build up and cause scalp irritation. This one is available for around $ 5 at Walgreens, Walmart and other online retailers. Cherie is going to allow Kamara to wear her hair down today, but it will get put into a high ponytail later this week for gymnastics practice. Now I am going to unwind Sherry's bantu knots. Again, I am going to coat my fingers with the Eton Body Works oil to separate the strands without causing frizz you when pulling these apart. It is important to glide your fingers to the ends and twirl the piece in the direction the knot was set in to retain the definition and prevent the ends from frizzing. You can add more oil to your fingers for each knot. You untwist, after all of the notes, are separated. I am going to use some karekare edge tamer and salute one side up and pin it for style. Now, I'm going to finish up with a little of the clear oil on her scalp for moisture. Sheree will sleep in a bonnet and fluff in the mornings to maintain this style? She can Rinat sections on the sides or in the back at night, if needed during the week total style time not including overnight. Setting was about four and a half hours for all. Three of them for product links to everything used in this tutorial visit, Moe, nose, hair, calm,
