Hi guys welcome back to my channel, it's a girl, a Jen, Jen, Jen age and Jen. Today, Oh today, we're gon na talk about the best practices that you can implement in your hair journey too, that you can have better hair by the time this quarantine is over. Before I get started, don't forget to follow me on Instagram, where I post about haircare or beauty lifestyle. If that sounds like your thing, follow me over there don't forget to hit the subscribe button and the bell, so you get notified every single time. I upload a new video. Now we can get started alright, so let's get started without wasting any time. So I took a shower and my hair is moisturized. If you want to know how I moisturize my hair in the shower bra, then I will link a video in the cards and down below when I moisturize my hair I'll typically go in with a leave-in, conditioner and an oil. But today I'm actually going to skip a few steps. I don't, I know I'm breaking my own rules and that's because I want my hair to set and dry for today it's 12:30 and I need to have my hair done by 7. So I don't want to wet it too much. I don't want to do too much to it. I don't want to use too many products, because I need this hair to dry to stop my hair, I'm going in with the melanin twist styling cream and there's shea butter in here. There'S water, there's oil. So I feel like it's going to seal my hair. Just fine for the purpose that I want to use it for, and I'm gon na do a style. That'S really quick and easy, and hopefully we have no problems. Let'S get started with some of my best practices so that you have better hair. I feel like this video is kind of coming out late, just because stores are already starting to open back up and I feel, like you know, we're not gon na be in quarantine for so long, but these are best practices that you can implement any time in Your hair journey just to kick things up a notch. If you feel like your hair, is not growing, you are out of fat. Oh then, those tips will also help first thing: first, you should start experimenting with your hair. Natural hair is not a one-size-fits-all. I may like oils and you think, oils Oh easy. I may love butters and you may think that butters or too heavy ooh that rhymes a little bit oily heavy, no okay. So it's important for you to experiment with your hair and find what your hair likes learn. Your hair. I don't think anybody has the same: identical, hair, texture, behavior density as you do. This is what makes us so unique. You got ta embrace your hair and you have to learn what works for it and that just comes with experimenting. Experiment with your natural hair find what it likes find, what it doesn't like find better way to take care of your hair something's, not working, then let's try something else, and this is the perfect time for you to experiment with your hair, find you here, porosity level. Learn about it watch a ton of videos. This is really a good time for you to take a step back and experiment and learn about your hair. Alright, so I just sectioned off my hair. This is what I'm working with one side is bigger than the other. Let'S see if I can get it even number: two is Moisture: moisturize moisturize moisturize. We all know 4c hair craves moisture. While you are at home, you might as well moisturize your hair. Okay. I know. One of the main thing people complain about before was the fact that they didn't have the time. Well, now that you do, what is your excuse? You know, let me know down below put your hair in a protective style, some sort of little manipulative style and just moisturize it when in doubt moisturize. Even if you just have a water bottle that you just want to like randomly spritz your hair throughout the day. With do what you need to do, because if you want healthier longer 4c hair, then you are going to have to learn how to moisturize your hair, and I don't think you can get away from that. You have to moisturize your dry 4c hair, stop trying to run away from it. Just do it now that I have my sections I feel like. I should tell you guys what I'm doing so. My plan is to do flat twists on these and that's out of my head, maybe I'll twist and crawl in the middle, something like low key, that's going to dry fast. Hopefully that's gon na be the hairstyle anyways. Moving on to the third point: low, manipulative protective styles, I'm styling my hair right now into a little manipulative style. I did minute twist that's a lemon affiliated style you're, not leaving the house anyway, you're not going anywhere. You might as well put your hair away and leave it alone. I think 4c hair is so delicate that if you constantly styling or manipulating it, it can't put a lot of stress on your strands. That'S depends obviously, on your hair type, your hair density, how strong your hair is, etc. But, personally for me I can tell you that my hair doesn't want me styling it all the time and it works for me, you know because I'm a lazy natural anyway. So that's a relationship that works very well, but while you home and you're not going anywhere, you might as well put your hair in some sort of Lu, manipulative style or even a protective style. Just to give your hair that break. You know what I mean while you have your hair in a protective style. However, I will highly highly encourage you to moisturize it. I'M not saying put your hair away and forget about it girl, that's not what I'm saying I am talking about. A low, manipulative style will allow you to not have to manipulate or style your hair everyday, yet allow you to moisturize it every other day and before you start, I know someone's going to ask for a flat twist tutorial. I'Ve heard you guys, I will have one come in at some point. I haven't told me yet obviously, but I do plan on filming a very detailed tutorial on just the basics of natural hair, so braiding twisting flat twisting corn roll flat twisting with extensions braiding with extensions twisting with extension. Did I miss anything if I miss something living down below number four is to use a hair scarf. It sounds really simple and you're, probably like duh, used a headscarf, not just when you go into bed, but also when you're around the house - and I say this because first of all, I'm not leaving the house. So everybody at my house know how I look. I don't need to impress anybody up in here, but what I've noticed is that the couch has been drying out the back of my hair. I didn't know that was a thing, but it really is. I notice that the back of my hair is not only extremely dry, but also very like knotty you're, getting a lot of nods single strand knots, and I wasn't really understanding what was going on until I realized I'm spending a lot of time on the couch, which Means the back of my head is literally just rubbing on the couch and listen. My hair needs more stir. My couch does not need more stir. Okay, I've had to make sure to wear a scarf a little bit more often than I usually would, and I'm really bad with wearing a scarf period. I'M not gon na lie to you guys, but we all know the benefits of wearing a scarf, especially right now, if she's spending a lot of time at home and you spending a lot of time on a couch, for example, just be careful because you may be Experiencing dryness and breakage, due to your couch, how rude? How rude of my couch all right, so the last tip that I have for you to leave quarantine in tip-top shape is to have the hair proceed start implementing a hair routine, especially if you don't have one. I have a few videos on how I personally wash my hair, and I have one that's a generic haircare routine that you can start implementing. I will link them in the cart and in the description box, but it's so important for you to have a routine for your hair, especially for times when you ignore your hair. It'S about to happen. Okay, your hair gets extremely dry. You ignored it. It'S been a whole week. You have this routine, where you can't go in to press that reset button and moisturize your hair and have it feeling good all over again, it's good to have that in place, so that you're not wondering what do I do in my hair now that is feeling So bad, you know what to do so that sort of ties into the first point, which is experimenting as you experiment, with your hair and you finding out what it likes, what he doesn't like. Then you can take that and put it into a hair routine and do it over and over. So the good thing about understanding what your hair needs and learning your hair is that you can adjust when something is not going right or if your hair starts to feel drier than usual. For example, summers coming up so you're here may feel less dry, then how it feels in the winter. Then you can adjust and accommodate for that versus not knowing what to do once is gon na come back around. So if you don't know what to do in the summer, that you're not gon na know what to do in the winter. So I would highly encourage you guys to not only take the time to learn your hair, but then start putting what you find that you like into a routine so that you can stick to it and do it over and over. Because the thing with natural hair is that consistency is key and I think that's the thing with everything in life. Consistency is key, so if you want healthy long hair, then you have to consistently take care of your hair, and that means washing deep conditioning, moisturizing style. Repeat you just have to do these things you can't get around it and I know some of the tips that I said or most likely think that you've heard before and you're probably like. Oh it's the same thing over and over again, but that's because it works. That'S the reason why we're all preaching the same thing and we're all saying the same thing is because you know, after years of experimenting with our hair, there are a few basics that I think is kind of. Like the Bible forever natural, you got ta wash your hair, I mean I will go that's. Why saying you should pre-poo 4c hair and then you got ta wash you get a deep condition. You got ta moisturize and you have to keep moisturizing until your next wash day. Okay, like that, you can't get around it. I'M sorry! I'M sorry, I'm sorry all right! So I'm done setting my hair look what I did with the situation judge. I am hoping that my hair dries. I will take this down in about five or so hours, if not that I may take the blow-dryer to it, but anyway, this is what we look like. I'M actually so excited because I haven't done my hair in over two weeks and I'm actually wearing real clothes. Lay, let's fix the shoulder situation. Honestly, I've been working on these acne marks for like weeks months all year. Without them, I feel, like my skin, will look so good. Oh, this side is not so bad once it dries. I will come back and I'll take a dead six hours later, so this is the style. This is what we came up with it so give your guys I get so excited every single time. I do my hair makeup put on some clothes lately because that's like a luxury that I just don't do all the time anymore. So the very top of my hair right here did not dry all the way you know you got ta have that one spot that one spot that just won't, let you be great, but it's okay. We pin her down over here. So it's all good. This style is so cute, your god. I did too little bit two knots on top over here. Buddy, that's, not your fancy. You can choose cross, the little burn, pin them and it's all good, that's all I have for you today, don't forget to hit the like button and subscribe to my channel for more videos like this developer, and so you cannotify every single time. I upload a new video and I'll see you guys in my next one

Michelle Elizabeth: Girl you're right to be excited about that hairstyle, it came out real cute

Sipokazi Pangwa: Thank you Jenn, the consistency is much appreciated❤️❤️. I'm definitely doing something right with my hair, ever since I started to give it love and attention, it's been responding very well and it's all thanks to you

Mrs.LadyJ2021: hi Jenn thank you for these tips! I too am on my 4c natural hair journey. Proud that I regrew my hair after hair loss due to a medical issue. Now looking to grow my hair. Im definitely in the process of experimenting with my hair. Thank you

prem love: Love it!!! I have the same hair type and its so refreshing to see the care you put into your hair...very inspiring...I just shaved my hair off a few days ago...so I'm going to look at your past videos to get more inspiration...thank you!

Lenora Butler: I love this style. It look so beautiful on you. I have salt and pepper hair so I am going to try this style and see how it look on me. Thanks Jen for always sharing wonderful and easy information with your YouTube family. Much love to you hun. ❤

Qara Anna: I followed you advice on having a moisturising routine and my hair has never been stronger. I have noticed that my hair is not breaking and I see visible growth every two weeks. THANKS!!!! ROUTINE ROUTINE ROUTINE!!!! It works. Btw my hair likes a butter on wash day but I could get away with an oil mid week.

mizztotal: Thank you for this style! I just did it and it literally took me less than 10min after I took my flat twists down from the night before. I feel confident to wear my natural 4c hair out in this style. The flat twists keep me from having to worry about it shrinking or losing its shape on the top and sides. TBH I only have two flat twists on each side and it still looks cute (I was lazy LOL) but I'm going to practice doing it exactly like yours next time.

Shawnna Hunter: Been watching your channel and I’m so motivated. Keep it up Jenn!!

C D: Girl your hair is growing more and more!. Loved the hair style.

Merit Dike: The consistency tho

Yolanda B: Thanks for the video, Jenn! When you use Imo Naturals leave in and butter, how long does your hair stay moisturized? I used the leave-in, cream, and butter after washday and I had to re-moisturize in like a day or so. I was wondering if your results with these products were different.

Charlotte Roberts: I see consistency is the key factor in growing and keeping healthy hair. I love your videos. I have learned that keeping your ends moisture is very good. Keep up the good work beautiful! Keep bringing the content and we will continue to ⌚!

Jersey Girl in Orlando: My hair is dry from the couch also! So, I started draping a satin pillow case over the back of it. Quarantine also forced me into a "no buy" and I've started using up all the hair products I've bought over the past couple of years.

ThaLadies Corner: Getting out of Laziness and taking Care of my Hairrr. I'm going to document the process to see how diffetent it can beee! The hairstyle came out

W. Noel Robbins: So gorgeous! You've got fantastic length, Jenn. Thanks for the advice! You really are an inspiration

Karis Creath: This is the first video I saw of yours and i subscribed because you made me see that it is possible to care for your hair. I have spent too many years not taking care of my hair properly and I just loved your energy and positivity about your hair.

Afro Winnie: I LOVE YOUR HAIR! I like how excited you get when your hair comes out great!

Kayla Smith: I’ve been using this quarantine to actually take the time to do my hair and experiment. I’m trying hard not to become a product junkie tho lol (75% of the things I’ve bought have been hair products... oops)

Emma: hi from france i love your videos you really help me during my natural hair journey. We kinda have the same texture so it’s really interresting to see how you moisture your hair etc.. love you have a nice day

CC H: Love this hairstyle!! So Pretty!!

Nykicia Jefferson: “Don’t put your hair away and forget about it” Me: Lol Yes maam! I’m going to do better.

Jessica Smith: Your hair came out very cute. I love it! You are right about your steps and I am currently trying to “find” a routine. Until then I am going to untwist my pinned up twists tomorrow, finger detangle it with coconut oil and put them back in twists and leave it for a week since you gave me that idea from your last video and it will buy we wash day time. I would have most definitely left those twists in my hair. I WISH I knew how to twist/braid to the scalp. I can’t learn....I have tried. But I like how the twists came out and I would have just pinned them up as some kind of updo. I have NEVER figured out how to maintain a twist for weeks so I never do them. Thanks for the video

Terry Miller: Love this channe!!! New Subbie here!!! Your channel is helping me so much with my 4C natural hair journey!! Also just followed you on instagram! Keep up the great work!

flamingo parrish: Gurl....gurllllll jenn listen first off hair looks great as always, but listen let me tell you something that LOC..LCO...LB video u did HELP me a LOT cause i have 4c hair and no matter what i did to it it stayyyyed dry...aaaaah yeah i no longer have this isse thanks to you i said way way way minute let me try this LB method leave-in and butter i used leave-in camille rose honey and my butter was regular shea butter and the hair stayed moisturized for just about 5 whole daysand it was so darn soft. Im like nah this aint my hair hahaha. Hair never felt like this moisturized not greasy and like straw...so thank youuuu big up

Monica Garrett: I'm trying the natural life again. One of my problems is hairstyles. I just braided my hair like that for a protective style. I left it braided for a week and just took the back and front down and it was sooo cute. When it was braided I would just grab my spray bottle and spray my entire hair. Finding a style that works and is cute does make you excited.

psr076: Beautiful style. I learned in the past year too much oil doesn’t suit my hair even tough I like oil. I style only with a leave in with either a cream (butter) or with a gel

Aisatou Gassama: Your hair grew so fast girl!! How did you retain so much length?

Sylvia Smith: Thanks jen the hair style came out beautiful.

Black AN: Your "happy dance" kills me lol, stay awesome!!!

Assya Barro: I wanted to ask if it’s ok if i don’t deep condition my hair i do a pree-poo and i wash my hair ( and i rinse it), i put some conditioner in and i detangle it (and i rinse it) and then i put a masque and i leave for 3 hours after i rinse it and then i put some shea butter and a little bit of oil . I still moisturise it during the week. And i don’t if my hair routine is ok 'cause i don’t use deep conditioner .

Con Hun: This style and video

Cathyann Austin: Hi my hair is very similar to yours in texture #4chairrocks!! How to do maintain a twist out overnight?

Falecia Samuels: ❤️❤️❤Love it hun️❤️❤️❤️

Nadia Taylor: Looove your hair. ❤️

Blacc Chai: Exactly no 2 textures are alike. We may have similar texture but no 2 textures are the exact same.

Chota Chungu: @Jenn Jackson could you do a protective style vid, with thread? I think its called african threading... but it looks amazing
