So what are essential oils? They are oily, concentrated plant extracts that keep the natural smell and flavor of the plants from which they are derived.

To give you an idea of just how concentrated and rich these oils are, you need about a thousand pounds of dried lavender flowers to produce between five to ten pounds of lavender oil.

There are various methods of extracting a plant’s essential oil. The most common one is distillation, which involves the use of steam. Another method is cold pressing, which is a mechanical method that does not involve heat.

Essential oils have various uses and can be found in a wide range of consumer goods like soaps, toiletries, detergents, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, foods and drinks.

They are also used in aromatherapy, which is an alternative medicine practice that uses the aromatic compounds in various oils and other substances to produce healing effects.

The use of these oils for therapeutic purposes has risen dramatically in recent years, and nowadays you can find them being used in conventional hospitals and clinics for things like stress relief, pain and nausea.

And, as you will learn in today’s video, we have recently started to discover just how effective some of these oils can be in promoting hair growth.

So without any delay, let’s get into the most commonly used essential oils for hair:

*Lavender oil. So lavender oil is perhaps the most popular and widely used essential oil, and with good reason. Traditionally it’s been used for the treatment of insomnia, as well as to induce relaxation and general well-being.

First, what are essential oils well essential oils are oily concentrated plant extracts that keep the natural smell and flavor of the plants from which they are derived. To give you an idea of just how concentrated in reach these oils are you need about a thousand pounds of dried lavender to produce between 5 to 10 pounds of lavender oil? There are various methods of extracting a plant essential oil. The most common one is distillation, which involves the use of steam. Another method is cold pressing, which is a mechanical method that does not involve heat, essential oils, have various uses and can be found in a wide range of consumer goods like soaps, toiletries detergents, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, foods and drinks. They are also used in aromatherapy, which is an alternative medicine that practices the use of the aromatic compounds in various oils and other substances to produce healing effect. The use of these oils for therapeutic purposes has risen dramatically in recent years, and nowadays you can find them being used in conventional hospitals and clinics for things like stress, pain, relief and nausea, and, as you will learn in today's video, we have recently started to discover Just how effective some of these others can be in promoting hair growth so guys without any further delay. Let'S get into the most commonly used essential oils for hair number. One is lavender oil, so a lavender oil is perhaps the most popular and widely used essential oil and with good reason. Traditionally, it's been used for the treatment of insomnia, as well as to induce relaxation and general well-being. A 2016 study in mice provided the first scientific evidence that lavender does indeed have a strong hair growth effect, something for which this oil has been used traditionally going back centuries. Now, we've linked to this study as well as all the other studies mentioned in today's video. In the description below the oil has antimicrobial and antifungal properties and can be used to kill or prevent hair light, it is not recommended to apply this essential oil on its own on your hair, but rather to blend it with other worlds, most notably rosemary or basil. The diluted blend should be massaged into the scalp and left to sit ideally for up to one hour. Alternatively, you can add a few drops of the lavender oil into your regular, shampoo and use the shampoo, as you normally would guys. At number two we've got rosemary oil, another essential oil. With a long tradition going back, millennia rose, merle has been used in a variety of conditions, including coughs, headache saws, infections, and more now recently there has been some clinical research into the hair growth properties of rose. Merle and the results are very, very encouraging. It all started off with a 2013 study in mice which found that the oil held promise as an anti-androgen etic treatment for male pattern. Baldness, the mices hair growth had been interrupted by the administration of testosterone, which is, you might recall, is what dihydrotestosterone or DHT is made of. The oil was also found to inhibit 5-alpha reductase. The enzyme which converts testosterone to dihydrotestosterone a 2015 study out of Iran took things several steps. Further. The researches administered rose Moreau two men with androgenetic alopecia and then compared his efficacy against another group who were treated with 2 % minoxidil after six months. Both groups of men showed a significant increase in hair count, and this increase was actually the same across both groups. These are pretty fascinating results, considering that minoxidil is an fda-approved medication that we know is effective against male pattern, baldness, albeit at a cost of non negligible side effects, so to have a 100 % natural compound that matches minoxidil efficacy without any side effects is no small Feat now the last essential oil that will be ruined today is peppermint. Oil peppermint is a cross between two other species of mint herbs, namely the water, mint and spearmint. The peppermint essential oil principally used for the treatment of irritable, bowel syndrome or IBS, and there have been several scientific studies showing that it is an effective IBS treatment. It is also used against indigestion, tension, headaches and nausea, though the scientific evidence for these indications. It is a little bit more limited now guys when it comes to hair growth. The data is once again limited, but at 2014 my study out of South Korea suggests the peppermint oil can induce significant hair, regrowth and indeed superior to that obtained with 3 % minoxidil. We do eagerly look forward to the first studies with humans. Guys are there any risks to essential oils? Well, essential oils are considered very safe substances if used properly, which means ensuring the oil is used, diluted and not in its purest form. Things vary from oil to oil, but if they are used in the pure form, then the most common, albeit still there side effects, will be and mild skin irritation. Lastly, guys remember that these substances are for external use and should definitely not be ingested. Let me know in the comments below: do you use any essential oils as part of your haircare routine? And what have your experiences been like? Naima Abubakar: Lavender oil Rosemary oil Peppermint oil

Isabella McClure: 2:03 is when he actually starts talking about what oils to use in your hair.

Trendy Health: *You can use olive oil to make your hair look good and feel healthy.* It is _no secret_ that heat styling makes it hard for you to grow new hair, but the oils found in *olive oil work as a protectant against those high temperatures* by creating a shield around natural keratin which _contains antioxidants, vitamin E, and oleic acid._ Olive Oil also has _anti-inflammatory properties which may help with treating dandruff too!_

Lars-Göran Andersson: I have used peppermint oil 3 months and some of the weeks I have used rosemary oil. Always mixed with castor oil for not burning my head. The tiny baby hair is now longer than before and the ordinary hair is growing faster. It also seems that sleeping hair follicles are awaked. Maybe the baby hair can in next stage be terminal hair first after fall of the baby hair. It can takes some year but it feels good to do something about my balding. Thank you for your great job.

From the Ashes: Check out these 1. Safflower oil 2. Castor oil 3. Rosemary oil 4. Peppermint oil

Energetic Coach: Yes these 3 work. I used all of them and my hair grew back. But its the “how” to use them that no channel seems to share. You can’t just pour oil on your head and your hair just regrows.

LOVE & LIGHT...!: Thank you. I've been using essential oils for many moons with helpful results. For sleep tummy annoyance or other minor problems. But I never receive too many results when it came to my scalp.dispite hearing how helpful they are for hair growth. But it might just be me.. others might achieve great results,, I just haven't as of yet, maybe I need to be a little more consistent thou.

muzzammil: Currently using peppermint essential oil, it makes your hair strong , less likely to fall, but it doesnt give any shine and softness to hair

Strawberry Glaze: Thank you so much for such detailed informative and helpful information.

730nee: Can you mix the three oils, and what is the dosage of each oil? Can you mix them with egg?

Tom shaji: Your channel is really helpful and motivational ,keep going

Arvinth Arasu: I have been using peppermint and rosemary oil mixed with Jojoba oil every 3 days for the past 5 months. While I am able to see new baby hair growth on the sides which is not growing rapidly , I m not able to see any progress on the top and crown. I also observed no reduction hair fall after using essential oils.

Paul Pagano: For the past 3 months ive used rosemary, peppermint, jojobba oils mixed with olive oil as a carrier. I normally apply it about 4 hours after i apply minoxidil. Its helps combat minoxidils typical scalp drying affects and also seems to help with blood flow. I also apply it immediatly after dermarolling woth a 1.0 mm roller. I can say that in 3 months ive seen significant hair growth. The hairs are thin but dense. Ive been balding since 20 and im 39 now and just recently decided to do something about it. I wish i started as soon as i noticed thinning. Right now im at a norwood 3-4 but hopefully after a year if all goes well i can get to a norwood 5. Im not expecting to though.

Azim Aslam: I got hair growth in 2 weeks . Used darburs almond oil with vegetable protein. After using derma roller . Use it 7 days a week as many times you can daily.

Alex Holub: Have to take care when buying essential oils. Most of the oils you'll find on the market are not pure essential oils. They are the essential oil cut with a chemical such as DPG.(Diphosphoglycerate). What DPG does is help to retain the original scent of the oil while cutting the use of the oil itself. Pure essential oils have a tendency to burn the skin. So, care must be taken when using them.

Siddharth Shukla: Trimmed all my hair and started using peppermint oil (two-three drops mixed with carrier oil) and ACV (1:1 mix with water used as conditioner after shampooing). Got major regrowth in just one month. I am 23 can't guarantee the same for older peeps. EDIT: I'm not using this anymore. Scroll to end of thread where I discuss what finally worked for me.

Kingston Jones: I don't really recommend using 3 oils for your hair. I only use 1 type of oil for my hair. Over oiling your hair can have you get greasy hairs which will cause you to have dry scalp.

Grand deception: Thanks for the info, I enjoy the channel. The haters can just go elsewhere if they don't.

jewel jackson: Hi my hair is being lossed i believe because of medication not sure from your description what to still use in that situation , thanks for your help

Gerri Miller: I put all the oils together in my spritz bottle for daily hydrating growth. Results: extreme growth, anti-breakage and thick healthy hair

Diệu Trân Vũ: In Vietnam we use grapefruit essential oil to stimulate hair growth and effectively ... You can try

Marie Rochelle: What are the amounts to use, also shud we mix the 3 oil & add carrier oil to it. Thank you.

Ibrahim Ahmed: What have you used ...and how has your hair gotten affected by it...like we still see that you have thin hair...but is this better than before ...if yes then how?

Syed Zaidi: Good video! Question for you - can we mix all these 3 oils and massage. For max effect. Can we put it on scalp and sleep over night . Or its better to shampoo after few hrs.

rrrunha89: I was using Minoxidil 5 % over 2 years and stopped results are great but minoxidil isn't really cheap .....2 months ago I started Peppermint oil diluted with destiled water(50 drops to 60 ml of DESTILED water, about 5 % solution) and with finasteride crushed pills in it about 12 pills(5mg) = 60 Mg in that "peppermint oil mixed with destiled water solution" I'm using it with dermaroller and definetely has improvement,I shall see in the future how well would it works .....I'm using it same as minoxidil twice daily 1 ml ....It has nice smell and great cooling effect I think it can improve blood circulation for sure

Ehren Wiener: Have you ever looked into using ginger oil as well to combat hair loss and regrow hair

Matthew Smith: This is what I'm trying: Rosemary oil, lavender oil, peppermint oil, and tea tree oil.....a couple of drops of each mixed in with Castor & Jajoba oil as the carrier. I use it 2-3 times a week and massage it all into my scalp with my scalp massager a few hours before I shower at night. I also just started minoxidil, finasteride and derma rolling.

Rajani Gurung: I'm using Rosemary essential oil and Tea tree essential oil mixing with coconut oil on my scalp and my baby hair is growing slowly

Sasha L: Are you a hair doctor? Or did you actually battle hair loss yourself?

PYWI Fishing And Outdoors: Just started using minoxidil and taking finasteride, I rather try the essential oils and natural products. If it doesn't work as hope, I'll give the FDA and meds a follow up, thanks for the review, studies and making this video.
