Today'S video is long overdue. It'S my seven month update for using a derma roller I'll, be discussing some setbacks, I'll be discussing new needle sizes, new information, that I've learned new techniques and maybe show you some before and after photos, even though there are not many of them, I'm sorry to say So if you'd like to see my progress, just keep watching hey girlfriends welcome back to my channel. I'M Rochelle - and this is disco curls TV. If you're new here welcome, my channel provides tips on how to care for your flying, curly hair, so that you feel empowered and supported to be the best version of yourself. So first, let me talk about some of the setbacks. I was in this program that was like a bootcamp, so it kept me really busy and I really became a little lazy when it came to my routine, not necessarily for the derma roller, but the scalp massage is taking my supplements consistently. My pre-poo, the tropical living red Pimentel oil, I ran out of it. I just never replaced it so yeah. I got kind of lazy. I guess so. Unfortunately, my results are not where I'd like them to be, but I did try 70 needle sizes. It took me a little while before I did that I was using the 0.25 needle size for a really long time. I want to say like longer than I wanted to. It was like five months and at that point I decided to go up to the point. Three sides, because I heard that was just a little bit longer and still great for increasing absorption of your products. I got that one and I was like really disappointed I'll show you a side-by-side comparison here, literally the 0.25 needles compared to the 0.3 size. Needle just looked like they were shorter, so I didn't end up using it, and then I decided I was get the 0.5 size and I took me really like time to reorder it, so I just reordered it. It took like a couple more weeks before I got that, so there were just. There was a time where I did not use the derma roller, maybe for like two weeks, and so I just feel like all of those element contributed to why my edges aren't as full and luscious as I'd like to look also, I wanted to share with you All that I met a couple of professionals that have used derma rollers and their thoughts on the use of derma rollers. It was um some new information that I gathered from them that I thought was important to share with you all. It'S mainly about sanitation, but I think it's really important that it's probably the most important information I can share with you all, because nobody wants a staph infection. Nobody wants vent needles, tearing up their scalp like there's so much. I learned for them, so I'm going to share that with you right now so number one. You always want to use a clean, sanitized, derma roller you're never going to share it with anybody, and you want to sanitize your derma roller in seventy percent alcohol. For about ten minutes and be sure to let it air dry 100 % number two. If you drop your derma roller toss it, the sad thing is the needles can bend and then they tear the skin. So it's not only for sanitation purposes, but also because you can really damage your skin if the needles Bend. This can also happen by placing your derma roller in a glass which is what I've been doing. So I'm glad I learned this from them. She suggested one of them suggested that I used like a Styrofoam cup or a plastic cups, something that's a little bit softer so that I don't bend the needles when I place them in there. Isn'T that interesting. I was floored number three if you're, applying a serum to your scalp, using like a dropper bottle like I have been it's important, not to let the actual dropper touch your scalp, because by doing the reapplication you can transfer bacteria back into your serum and then, if You'Re using a derma roller and then transferring that back bad bacteria back to your scalp, you can cause an infection, possibly so it's really important to just keep the dropper above the scalp and let it drop on there instead of touching your scalp number, four always be Sure that your instruments are all clean, not just the derma roller, but your your comb, your pins, your hands. They should all be clean and sanitized before using the derma roller. So because of this new information, I learned I decided against using the derma roller on non wash days. I know a lot of people do it, but I just don't want a staph infection. I don't want any type of infection or inflammation because of products buildup or dirt. That'S been on my hair for multiple days getting like reabsorbed back into my skin. It just doesn't sound right to me, so I'm not going to do that. Okay. So now I thought I'd show you my three derma rollers. The first is the 0.25 millimeter size that I stopped using a couple months back in general, you should replace your derma roller. Every ten to fifteen uses for sanitation purposes, plus the needles can get dull. You can see that this one is kind of nasty looking and worn down, which is why it will never touch my scalp again. The second is the 0.3 millimeter size which I felt looked shorter than my 0.25 millimeter size. So I might just hang on to this. So I can use it on my face at some point. The last one is the 0.5 millimeter which has slightly longer needles. I have received conflicting information about how often to use the 0.5 millimeter some say once per week. Others say twice per week. Some say once per month, others say only with a professional, so I just decided to see how my scalp reacted after one use, it didn't have a reaction, so I've been doing it twice per week and only on my wash days. So here are some side-by-side. Comparisons of the 0.25 to the 0.3 millimeter derma rollers, and here is another side by side of the 0.25 millimeter next to the 0.5 millimeter. You can definitely see that the point 5 roller on the right has longer needles. Now, I'm going to show you how I make my scalp oil mixture. I typically use these three oils, which are peppermint tea tree and rosemary oil. Also, I use jojoba as my carrier oil. If you have coarse denser hair, then you can definitely use castor oil, but I find that's a little bit too heavy for me next. I use this mini dropper bottle that I got from Amazon. To put my oil mixture in, I like to fill up the bottle halfway with my hello Bo oil, then add several drops of the essential oils. If you have a sensitive scalp, you can adjust the amount of drops. You add so maybe test the mixture. A couple days before with a scalp massage, if the mixture feels too strong, then you can add more of the carrier oil. So, finally, I twist the dropper back on and give it a little shake. And now my scalp oil mixture is ready to go all right. So my hair is cleansed, and I want to show you what the area looks like. While it's still damp, I feel like there is definitely improvement, even though I was slacking off the last couple months. Next, I'm going to part my hair down the center and apply my scalp oil, as I mentioned before, I'm not touching the dropper to my scalp, although I'm very close, because it's a bit difficult to see while I'm filming, I only use about 3, drops total and Then I massage it into the part now I'm using the 0.5 millimeter derma roller along the part in the direction that my hair is laying. I roll it on each section about three times and I also roll it vertically. But I use a very light hands. But I don't get the derma roller caught in my hair, then I had a couple more drops of the scalp oil and massage it again. I repeat this process along the whole front, half of my head when I get to my problem areas that are really sparks. I do like to roll in several directions because the hair is much shorter and less likely to get caught after I'm done using my derma roller. I start my styling routine, but I try not to get any of my stylers near my scalp, because not all of them are natural and if you really want to play it safe, you can use the dome roller at night. Put your hair in a couple of braids and then rewatch your hair in the shower the next day and apply your stylers. However, you like now, I'm going to show you some before and after photos from where I left off. In February I was seeing some real progress and I continued it into March, but took zero photos. So when I got to April I was really happy. They looked really full and dense and I had some length. It was mid April that I started slacking again started. Traveling out of town got a little stressed and I just felt like by the time I got to this week in May they just looked alright, but if you look at the big picture, I do feel like I've come a long way since October of last year. There are more dense areas on both sides and I think if I just updated this video with last month's results, there would be more of a WOW factor, but this is just how my life goes. Sometimes. Well, that's gon na wrap up this video. Thank you guys. So much for watching, if you have any questions regarding using a derma roller or my experiences with it, please leave them down below in the comment box. Also I'll do my best to ask more questions to these professionals to see if they have any new information. For me, they did give me some websites to reference, so I will link them down below in the description box as well. DiscoCurls: Hey Curl-Friends! My long awaited 7 month update is finally here! Tell me in the comments if you have used a derma roller before on your scalp for faster hair growth. Or share some of your favorite techniques below!

Knit Maniac: Thanks for the video! I have bought 2 derma rollers 3 months ago but I have not used them yet. I got them mostly for my edges and my skincare routine (to improve the performance of serums). I am keeping your video in my "watch later" folder as a tutorial. Keep up the updates! I appreciate all your work and your opinions.

💋Nellz: Hair transplant doctors usually use 1 mm or 1.25 because the hair bulb (where your hair follicles grow out of) are about 1.20mm-1.25mm beneath the scalp. For people who have significant thinning or balding, you should research and try those particular size rollers.

MsHoneyBBQ: Hello Everyone. Ive had similar problems with my hair over the years. Idk if she mentions this in other videos, poor nutrient absorption in the intestines can be a huge contributor to hair loss. And androgens. So, obviously, addressing any digestive issues are a good idea. I take supplements and all that, but what ive found works SOOOOO good for me has been STINGING NETTLE TEA. i boil 2 cups of distilled water and pour it over one half (1/2)cup of stinging nettle leaves. Letting it steep for at least 4 hours but usually longer. Then i drink it throughout the day. The ratio ive found is 25% nettle leaves to however much water u use. You can make the batches as big or small as you want, but the tea only supposedly lasts about 24hrs even after putting it in the frig. This tea can also be used directly on the scalp as a rinse, but ive been drinking it because i suspect part of my loss is due to stress hormones and this has some science and history to back up its efficacy. So fun. Ive also experimented with rice water and that is pretty awesome, and brahmi/gotu kola (centella asiatica), i get mine from banyanbotanicals.com but mountainroseherbs.com has alot of options. I just thought i would share my experience. My hair texture and loss pattern is very close to MsDisco’s (lol), but every BODY is unique. I hope something ive shared might help someone in their journey. Sending lots of Love and High Vibes

Hair Woes: Hi, really love the videos! Thanks so much for sharing such great tips. I have been suffering so much, my social life is non-existent now due to the hair loss so I'm glad I found your channel. Quick question: Can the rosemary essential oil lead to any unwanted facial hair for women? If for instance one sleeps with it in overnight? I had terrible facial hair with minoxidil so I really want to tread carefully now...thanks so much in advance!

Pinkpixie: I first brought the Dermaroller back in 2016 after wanting better skin, i did a lot of research on them and also watched the disc that was sent with it. I definitely noticed a difference in my skin, it looked great but i slacked on it and am wanting to start using it again for both my skin and edges.

Khadigah Alasry: Your honesty is one of the main reasons I love your channel!

Ely TC: I can definitely see a lot improvement I will start using a derma roller next week and i will love to follow your routine but i am a little concern because i was told many times not to use any oil on my hair as i have oily hair i don't know what to use after micro needling instead of the oils

R.K: With long hair maybe you want to use dermastamp instead so the hairs don't get caught. Also for more effective treatment try using the 1.0mm instead. White lotus or drpen sell the stainless steel ones so it doesn't get rusted in early stages. God bless

Rachel Pianogirl: My dermatologist recommended the 1.5 mm dermaroller size since studies show hat works best. I haven't bought it yet. I'm a little nervous about using one right now. Have you thought about using a 1.5 mm size? Are you seeing more hair growth and still using the .5 size one? Thanks

J M Diaz: Wow, this is awesome! I need to do this. My latest laser technician was doing hair removal on my widow's peak hairline and overdid it. She ended up burning off my edges and more. Now there's barely any hair there but it can grow back with treatment. This is an excellent way to apply my special serum that has repaired my hair and may possibly fully restore it.

MichelleM: Hi-very helpful video. How many drops of each oil do you use? Thanks so much

Mattai Lee: Thank you for your video! Quick question - for your jojoba oil mixture with essential oils - how long does the mixture last? Wasn't sure how long the shelf life is once mixed. Or do you try to mix only what you need for that one application?

Daisy Castillo: Hi Rochelle, Your hair is looking full and beautiful. That derma roller works. I lost some of my hair due to Eczema and I have all these different lengths of hair. I look forward to when my hair grows longer. I've been using tea tree and peppermint on my scalp. It has been helping in that I've not had an eczema flair up. Thank you for that video.

james Hall: Absolutely gorgeous!

Netotilo Pozohtli: Wonderful information for the beginner

Joshua Williams: You look awesome! Just continue your routine (if you feel like it's necessary)!

multijanni: Thanks for the great video ! A question, how much pressure do you apply when rolling the dermaroller 3 - 4 times over a spot. Like e.g. light pressure, firm pressure or pressing strongly to ensure the needles penetrate the scalp ? Thanks

KewpieGirl: I did try rosemary, peppermint but not tea tree I switch to cederwood then jojoba oil on my scalp without the derma roller. I highly recommend not to use tea tree oil on hair. My hair grew fast after 3 months without dermaroller however I will definitely try .5 roller for sure!

Joe Lee: Could you state how many drops of the 3 types of oil you used - rosemary, peppermint and tea tree? Thanx

Kia Pinn: Hi, great video & info! What about deep conditioning?? I deep condition every wash day (once a week). Would I use my deep conditioner after doing the rolling/applying the oil? Do you think that’s safe as there’s no way to avoid product getting on my scalp? Also, why do you apply oil first, then roll, then more oil?

holaaaa: What product do you use to sanitise the roller? Can you share the link if it's available on Amazon.

FRANK CHOI: Thanks for sharing your experience and respect your long journey!!

AN-G DEE: Excellent .I have slacked off on using my derma roller also I just started back adding it in and I seen better results since returning. I'm making sure I keep it up on a regular basis. Thanks for the info

California0407: Hi!! How long have you been doing microneedling on your scalp? Have you notice any damage or disadvantage?

salibh priyadarshi: The video is really informative and knowledgeable. I wanted to ask derma-roller can also be used by men as well who are facing baldness and is it normal if our scalp is bleeding while using derma roller, please share your option on this

Sayvai: Hey great video! One question, how many days a week do you recommend derma-rolling with the oils after wash days for? Every 2 days? Every few days? Would it be effective to do this routine everyday?

Thuggee: i am thinking of starting this after having a very nasty infection on my scalp a lot of hair feel out, after it was treated i was left with a lot of thinning and bald spots. i was wondering how long was it till you noticed a difference?

Yosra Nadhimi: Thanks so much for this video! I have very thin hair that has like 1A texture (if thats a thing?) I wanted to use castor oil b/c I've read it is good for hair growth, but do you think it would be too heavy for me? I was planning to use olive oil as a carrier oil; have you tried this before? let me know your thoughts, thank you! <3

BIGFOOOOOT: My roller came with a box that supports the roll part very well. I just wash it, spray it with alcohol, let it dry in its box and then close the lid after half an hour or so. I use 1mm and I try to ge the ones with real needles, not the ones with sawtooth wheels. At least that's what I've seen online to be best for scalp rolling. I wonder if 0,3mm is even noticable through hair?

Anish Gopan: Very educational. Thank you.

Patricia Oliva: Hi Rochelle, I want to thank you for the update. I'm from Brazil and here doctors advice that we can't use dermaroller at home. But the treatment on a clinic is too expensive, so I was thinking about use it at home. Looking for orientation, I found your video. I've suffering with hair loss at least for 10 years, my problem is genetic and I want to try everything that is possible, before to give up. Thank you for share it.

Bape: How long does a derma roller last? Do you have to replace it after some uses?

sahar ibrahim: Thanks , i learned a lot from you

DeadStar2ooo: Hi! Is it normal in the first months of dermaroller to see some hair falling and shedding? Im dermarolling the hairline for 2 months with 0.5mm..2 times a week..no minoxidil or other stuff..only microneedling..thanks!

MsGinahidesout: Wow, thanks for all the tips!

Being Freaky: Hey mam I like your video and thanks for sharing such valuable information ....It would be a great help for me if you could reply .... I am 17 years old boy and I don't have a major problem .... I still got good hairs but a little bit of hair have fallen from my hairline in recent years and I am worried because I don't wanna loose all of my hair and get my lost hair back ... So what should I do ..... I use oils now regularly but please suggest me how can I use derma roller and what size ??? THANKS

Josh Bell: Hey how long do you leave the oil on for ?do you wash it the next night or morning ?

rand alkharashi: I've tried this for the first time today, but while I was washing my hair from the miracle oil I've noticed many hairs were falling off, way more than usual. I'm wondering if that's normal or did I make a mistake. should I continue doing it?

Veronique Braxton-Angus: It looks like you had good results your edges look good.

salibh priyadarshi: Hello, I have seen the video it's really helpful. I wanted to ask derma-roller can also be used by men as well who are facing baldness?

Saint Perth Northcloud: At what age have you started noticing any changes on your hair (thinning etc)?

Racked&Ready: Thank you,very informative!

Lindaaa aaa: Just to double check lol, it’s okay to get gel & mousse on your scalp the next morning if you dermarolled the night before? I’m just wondering exactly how long it takes for your pores to close back up to be on the safe side cuz I love using products for max curl definition

Srikanth Balaga: how many times should i use this oil for severe hairloss? And i have a 1.5 mm dermaroller. also can i use the dermaroller 24 hours before i apply this to the scalp?

MariaV0071: Great video, informative, great instructions. I just bought 4 rollers. I tried everything from oil mixtures to herbal masks over years. Nothing is working and my scalp is still visible. This is the last thing I will try, wish me luck, haha.

The Classy Woman: Your skin is glowing!!

Rachel Pianogirl: I'm a female who has just started using a derma roller .25 size about 3 times now and tomorrow I should be receiving a 0.5 mm tomorrow in the mail. Are you using anything to block DHT for female pattern baldness? I'm not sure if your essential oils work for this or not. I've started to take pumpkin seed oil orally for this as it makes sense to me to do both. Some folks put it on topically as well.

Lord Shiva: Hey your hair looks great I'm just curious did you have a specific diet during this time..?

Beatričė Ivaškevičiūtė: Good results! After derma roller how much time do you wash your head?

Rahul Kapoor: how much pressure do you apply when using the derma roller

TheMightyQuinn: Be careful putting alcohol into a plastic or styrofoam cup as they can dissolve Good to use amber bottle to prevent oil oxidation from exposure to light

charles ugochukwu: Hi, thanks for the info, enjoyed watching it. Would you recommend 1.5mm size?

Akansha Gwari: Does your scalp hurt for a few days after derma rolling?

Katy Johnson: I've been wanting to start using a derma roller on my scalp, but I am confused about sanitization. When derma rolling on your face, everyone says make sure your skin is completely clean, so would you only derma roll on your scalp on days you wash your hair after it's been thoroughly washed? Thanks in advance

Amit Zaki: Did she take (or maybe said) hair vitamins/biotin/ pills or anything like that. This results very impressive

Michael Trinh: This may be different for girls, but guys shouldn't use product eg minoxidil, rosemary oil, immediately after/during derma-rolling. It's not actually better for absorption, and there's more risk of infection that way. Nothing too serious if you are applying products, but it's better to avoid.

Private Private: I just started learning about this today and I see that you put oils on prior to derma rolling, however, I’ve seen other videos where they put it on afterwards. I would assume oils should be put in prior, in order to allow the derma roller to kind of take the oils into the skin but, is it different dependent upon where and for what purpose you’re using it? Like whether you’re doing it for your hair, your face or your stomach?

Jass Verma: According to dermatologists, never use a derma roller after applying oil and on wet hair. It should only be used on a clean, dry scalp.

The Bearded Seeker: i've been hesitant on using a dermaroller becuase i've been growing out my hair and was afraid the needles would damage or even break my hair strands since my hair is very fine and thin. though after watching your video i just may give this a try.

Soorya NarayanaSamy: hi!! Thanks for the video. i have a ZGTS derma roller. How frequently do i use the derma roller?

Tiny Boss: I used to use those cheap rollers from amazon, wish, etc but they aren’t as good and won’t be sharp for 10-15 uses. I found this woman named Gin Amber on YouTube and her dermarollers are amazing. I’m an esthetician’s and I’ve been researching dermarolling benefits for years now. I would recommend you using 0.75mm on your hair scalp. That’s what I have been using and I’ve seen amazing results and with a bigger needle, you do it less often! Like once every 3 weeks I believe. Hope this helps you!

Steve Blake: Hi. How many times a week do you derma roll using the .25?

Gabriel Peter Henry Antos: derma needling rather than rolling may be more effective as derma rolling causes micro tearing and micro scaring which is less effective than having thee needles go in and out smoothly without tearing, pretty recent research so understandable a lot of people aren't familiar

Ki King: I LOVE your hair - so pretty!

Enuph Sayd: For now I've been dermaroll once a wk. Surprisingly I'm see results on my edges.

Ali Ali: I only use the roller but how long does it take for the results

Evan Osur: Do you suggest putting oils or medicine like minoxidil in before or after you use the dermaroller? And if so, how soon after or before? Thanks!

Amit Thakor: hey thanks for sharing the tips...i got myself a 0.5mm, 1 mm and 1.5mm roller...the 1.5mm roller is wider than the 0.5 and 1mm. i am noticing some visible thinning and scarceness of hair on vertex side and i have been using the roller for a month and half now...although i dont see any improvements but my main concern is the pullling of hair...i try to take a lot of care but my hair seems to get caught and i dont want to traumatize the hair follicles by repeated pulling especially where i am trying to grow more hair..what cant i do about that?

Fiona Guiheen: Hey there:) Do you need to exfoliate your scalp from shampoo residue buildup? if so how do you do it?

Romeo Tango: You had incredible result...congrats ...For how long do u leave oil in ur scalp ??

Esther: I have tried dermarolling for three weeks (1x/week), and the itchiness has persisted this time for an entire week. Should I stop dermarolling altogether until the itchiness disappears, or keep going?

Naz-Nazneen: Girl your hair has really grown in. I asked you in last derma roller vid if you would be trying it on your eyebrows? I have been slacking myself with my own rolling. But let me tell you, I can go out now without feeling the need to fill them in. I do put on a clear gel & do the “comb over”

Clay Rauch: Is it good to put the oil on right after derma rolling?

A R: Should I continue derma rolling after baby hair are regrown ?

Adil Zaman: 1 Derma Roller should b used in one direction not back and forth 2 . Oils should b applied after use not before

Faiza Raza: I have a question for you - I have heard two things about the derma roller and I am not sure which is correct: The roller needles should pierce the skin to the point of bleeding or just gently roll it to the point of poking but not bleeding?

Love for Everything: Hello could you. Please tell any side effects of using this??.. And can i do combing or wash hair after derma roll. 2ndly please tell after using it how many hours we need time wait for doing hair wash or combing.?

My Name Ring Bells: Thank God for derma rollers. ive only used it on my skin and it made the redness of my scars disapear. i need to do my scalp next!

Marvin't Balbido: Can I use castor oil only?? BTW nice video. .

rachelsmename: Can you please tell me why you choose derma roller instead of derma stamp which I read is safer for longer hair so as not to pull hair out. I just started derma roller .25 in one little corner because I want to get used to using the needles, but I need it on whole crown of scalp and trying to figure out if derma roller is easier than derma stamp. I want to "graduate" to the .5 quickly.

WeOne: What are the best derma roller brands out there? What do you ise to clean them with?? Thanks!!

Marcelle Costanza: I know this is an old video but the .25 mm you linked to is NOT needles. Its a disk with batrbs on it. NOT the same as needles! If it says 540 needles it is NOT needles! 192 - 200 is actual individual needles. BE CAREFUL.

Manisha More: Hi i have very thin hairs, mostly on crown area can u help, can i use 0.5 mm derma roller

Paul Stennett: how hard do you press the roller? not so it pierces the skin and draws blood?

josephsmth646: Did you replace your dermaroller with new one ?? Thanks for your video thank you.

muoian: Thank u for the demo and sanitizing information !

BL3SSAV3LLI: @discocurls how much is for them? & what's the best ones for them

Terri Young: Great video thanks

HAMID SFIOUI: Really nice video with good content

Aldo L: I never thought I would say this, but I have fully embraced my hair loss and shaving my head. It is tempting to try this for fun though, and just see if it works

Asmaa Asmaa: Thank you very much for this very useful video, I have two questions please, you wash your hair with shampoo after each use??after how long you wash your hair after using Dermaroller?? ❤❤❤

French Viking: What about hydrogen peroxide for cleaning?

Mr. Batman: Hi what do you think about using 1mm derma roller and is ok to only derma roll and not add any product to the hair?

SUSHMA SONY: Which size derma roller used for hair regrowth

Junior17: Are those results from dermarolling permanent?

Loris Ayoub: Hi, what size do you use? I get so scared of using it.

chomp chomp: starts at 6:00

Rooks Rants: Did your hair make a full recovery?

Shivanjali Rana: can we use 0.5 mm dermaroller weekly once
