Hey sisters, so I am back with a video that I've had on my computer since, like September and October, I've recorded it like three times so. You'Re gon na see a little bit of different footage in this, but, as you can see from the intro, this video is about stretching your hair and right now my hair is stretch. This is not a blowout. This is heatless stretching, and this is about. Like two weeks old, it's time for me to wash it basically like we gon na have two weeks old twist out. That is now and more so, like a blowout look, but this was achieved heedlessly, so I'm gon na show you how I take my afro from being shrunken all the way up to my ears and that's not even all of my shrinkage actually that you're about to See because it was in a high puff, so my roots are still kind of stretched, but yeah my hair still shrinks up a lot and I'm gon na show you how I maintain it in a stretched state. But I first want to say I absolutely love my afro and I think shrinkage is beautiful and if you stretch your hair, let me know down below. Let me know how you stretch you're here. If you use heat, you don't use heat, what's your regimen, so hopefully this video helps some of you, because this process literally takes like in order to get my hair into the well. When you stretch it is five minutes and it takes a day for me to air dry. So that's just based on how quick my hair dries. So usually it takes like a day. Sometimes I may not even in a day and a half depending on you know if I have any bills, but I love my shrinkage. I was just talking to Tony about this. The other day that you know shrinkage is beaut like admit it makes you feel like your hair is healthy whenever it shrinks up and you don't have any. You know stringy ins from heat damage, but when my hair is in a stretched state, I mean I've stretched. It in a shrunken state, like in my throat, I feel, like I encounter more, not more tangles and makes watched a little longer, so I've been avoiding it here. If you followed us for years, you know in the past. I would always wear my hair out and fro, but more so lately either just you know, detangle and twist or now I've been stretching since, like around June and July, with this method and yes, so I again love the shrinkage. Think is beautiful. I love afros, so I'm gon na, let you know exactly why I decided to even go this route and choose this method. While I was going through some of my old videos and I ran across a old 2013 video of a washing go in, I remember I used to stretch my washing goes by banding, my hair, and I would have it four sections, then I will band it all. The way down and then remove the bands, while my hair is still kind of damp and my washing up would be stretched cuz. My washing goes shrink up like crazy and I was like, why did I you know, stop doing it so I decided to go ahead and try to get, but instead of the forward, because my hair is much longer now. I decided to just put it into two pigtails and that worked out great, so I'm doing this for a couple months and then life later in the fall closer to winter can always think. I'M like well, I'm not putting too much stress on my hair. I was doing it like every two weeks. You know with the banding and stuff, but I wasn't really, you know losing any hair. My hair wasn't breaking. I came across the video um from 22nd century natural woman. I believe, if you have not seen her hair, her hair is like gold. This, I think it's like tough, but you know but link or maybe past it, but I know I know it's extremely long and whatever I saw her banding her hair in pigtails. I was like I'm doing something right, so I'm gon na continue. You know, do using this method, so I've pretty much been using it since so fine, I'm gon na share with you guys how I've been you know. This helped me retain some link last year. I believe so, I'm gon na show you exactly how I've been banding, my hair, so let's get to it so first, I start with two small bands and I'll use medium bands in this video and again, this is like three different tutorials you're gon na see mixed Together but first I want to show you since they and I have actually started using these bands. These are larger, like headbands, and I find that they're easier to remove whenever I am taking the pigtails down so maybe later in a year I'll. Do it update using these, but I just want to throw these in there just in case. So basically, I use a mix of like extra small you're gon na see some really man's small bands for the pigtails medium-sized bands for the banding, and these I've used these. For the pigtails and for the banding, so just so you know what I'm actually using and I'll link these below in the description box, so that you guys can find those easily um and so back to the banding. I used about six or seven of the medium bands whenever I'm banding my hair and here I'm using the main choice: ancient Egyptian leave-in conditioner. I started using this around this time of year, probably around October last year, and I love it. I love the thick creamy consistency of it and I work it into each section of my hair, so I have my hair for sections. If you've watched my wash day tutorials, I will. I now have my hairs for sections, and all I have on my hair is aloe vera juice and oils, so I'm adding the leave-in conditioner to that. So that is the only thing that's going to be on my hair, while I'm stretching it so once I work all of that through I'm gon na take one of those small bands and I'm going to basically tie it around um, then half of my hair to Make a pigtail, and in this particular tutorial I actually tie it kind of tight, because I want to see how straight I can get my hair to stretch, but I usually won't do with that tight because I don't want to put too much stress on my hair. So then I don't like to ban my hair while this out puffy, so I twisted and add a really thick rubber band at the end and then I take one of the medium bands and I double it up and then I take one of the bands from The double and because you can say, and then I just start to wrap it around my hair, I'm going down the twist and what I'm trying to do as I'm wrapping it around the twist is that I don't want to leave any gaps and usually, when you See banding, there are gaps in between. You know the bands. So basically it's it kind of looks like threading. So it's like a mix of banding and thready, but like threading with bands, I guess you can say so. I'M going to take another one of those bands. Medium bands and I'm going to start at the end of the last band until I get all the way down so again, it kind of looks like threading, but it's with the bands and then I'm going to take my ends when I get to the very end. This is one of the different. This is one of the different methods I'm going to take one of the small really thick rubber bands and I'm going to band all the way down to the end, so I can get as much of my hair banded as possible. So with this particular method, I was one wanting to see how basically, how it's straight, I could stretch my hair and that's what it looks like then I'm gon na let it dry for like a day - and this is another video where I'm just kind of showing You the difference between my shrunken state and my stretched. Banding and actually my hair has been dried and in this one you can see, I did not use the small rubber bands. I actually use the medium band all the way down, and I just kind of you know took my ends and I wanted to show you that just slowly unravel them and again, this takes me about a day to air dry. I'Ve never done it by sitting under the dryer, so again carefully take down each section, and this is what my hair looks like stretched using that method, and I actually think I didn't put the leave-in conditioner on in this video and my hair was actually a little Damp still in the middle on this one and you'll kind of see my twist out results from this stretching session. Is it's it's a little more shrunken. So these are the twists from that particular video, and I actually didn't do as many twists as you're gon na see this other one, and this is what the stretch twists out looks like it still has a really good stretch. I was able to do you know a couple different styles with it. So that's the result of that. But then the next twist you're going to see are the results from me using the pink rubber bands at the ends and, as you can see those stretch, those twists look a little more stretched, they're long, they're, more elongated and I actually did more twists. So the twist out has a little more definition. It has a more wayne defined wavy, look and again my hair to me. I can definitely see the difference that it looks longer, and these are only like a couple weeks apart, maybe like two weeks apart, so my hair definitely didn't grow that much longer in a couple weeks, so you can just definitely see the difference in the stretch and Yeah I love this. That is super easy whenever on watch today it takes me five minutes and then I can go about my business and let it air dry for a day. Then it comes in handy. I hope that helped I'm going to keep you updated on my hair, I'm due for a length check. I had to step back in January, where I chopped a little bit. I kind of I think I kind of butchered one side of it, but I'll talk about that in another video, as many of you saw in the videos from last month, I have a new blow-dryer. You guys know I've been using the same dryer. I think, since, like 2013 2014, maybe I've been using the same Drive for years and a lot of you purchase it dry and you were like whoa how you gon na switch it up on us. So I'm going to talk about that in an upcoming video. Let me know um if you're gon na try this method. If you already do this method and yeah like comment, subscribe share this video and until next time, peace out

My Natural Sistas: So glad so many of you are going try this banding/threading-like (thranding? Lol) method. Just a note for those doing twists outs and etc. after using this method, I only use hair butters (no added water) or oils when I twist my hair after removing the bands. If you use a water based product like a moisturizing cream or twisting butter your hair will start to shrink again. Just wanted to give a heads up and be sure to check the ingredients first before you start twisting. * Of course this only applies to those that want as much length or stretch possible using this method. Sometimes I moisturize and retwist with a light cream between wash days and my hair shrinks a little. Hope this helps

Caray 🌺: Process starts at 4:10

Nom D38: My shrinkage has my 4c hair looking like I big chopped. Please keep in mind I've been natural for 7 years. It's witchcraft lol

Toni Mitchell: Me dreaming my hair was as thick and long. Your hair is GOALS sis!

annettemint: Yasss! This is exactly what my hair looks like...my shrinkage is disrespectful. I do the banding method to stretch.

HairCandy Kina: Can we just appreciate your brows for a moment! Beautiful hair and great results from stretching

Briana B: This is so necessary. I keep getting fairy knots on my hair in it’s natural fro state. I’m looking for a solution and here this video comes! Thanks for the tips.

RealityCheck1993: Y'all see that before and after in the beginning? Natural hair is crazy amazing.

Terri Jones: I've been heat free for almost 2 years now! I band my wash n gos and whenever I want a heatless blowout!! #teamnoheat

Joy Deja King: Amazing!! Her hair is simply beautiful both ways but that stretch was serious.

KM.: Video starts 4:06

Kim Ban: Love your stretching method, been doing it for a year & have seen significant hair growth! Thanks so much for your videos!

Shaun Beecham: You were my inspiration to go natural 5 years ago. Every time I think about turning back to the creamy crack you find a way to reinspire (my own word, just go with it. Lol) me! Thanks for all the tips over the years. You and your sisters are so amazing! Thanks for sharing boo.

Taylor Symone: I stretch my hair with 4 twists that I make and bobby pinning them in different directions on my head. Best way for me to stretch my hair using no heat

Yoli M: I’m just now seeing this and girl you got me adding: “get my hair game up” to my goals list! I will be doing this every other Sunday.

Lushera Harris: Thank you for this, I have been struggling so much to stretch my hair. I don't use heat at all anymore except to deep condition so this might help as I am still in the awkward length phase of my journey. Keep doing what you are doing, you are all awesome! This is one of my favorite channels!

iSlay: I absolutely love it! I’m going to try it this weekend! ❤️

Tiyana Kirk: I band my hair every wash day it also helps with length retention. And yes like you said less knots and tangles which I love lol! Your hair has grown so much

Shariece Butler: I tried this method before I enjoyed the results. But now you make me want to try it again then do a twistout! Your twistout was so shiny and full and just everything I want in a twist out! Everytime I do twist outs on wet hair it shrinks sooo much and detangling afterwards is horrible. I prefer braid outs over twist outs because it is more stretched but definitely going to try the banding method maybe with a silk ribbon instead. Thanks love

Geo Smyth: I have been a fan of yours forever massive inspiration on my natural hair journey!! Loving the stretching of the hair!! Thank you ❣️

Williams J: I have yet to try the banding method. Love the way your hair came out in the twist out ❤

Caramel Brown: Great video. Great method. I used this method two years ago (learned it from 22nd Century Natural Woman) and had the most growth too during that time. I moisturized with coconut oil, liquid silk, and argon oil, sealed with shea butter, and left it banded all week in about 5 to 8 sections depending on how full or less full I wanted my hair to look when I took it out. I cut my hair last year and stopped banding it, but recently decided to start doing it again. If one doesn't mind the separated banding or doesn't have enough twisties to do the threaded look, overlapping the ends each time you add a new band makes the wave pattern more uniformed.

Sexcisld1: Beautiful hair! ... my hair goals! Thanks for this video. I have horrible shrinkage and have been looking for a way to keep the stretched look, but the only way I can achieve mine is by twisting it dry or damp and not wet, so thanks.

Faith Ukwuomah: I've been growing my hair for a few months, and while it's gradually but rapidly growing, it shrinks a lot. Seeing the sketching method, inspired me to include it to my hair routine. But if I may ask, how many times a week/month should I stretch my hair?

rosebudds81: I'm a fan of 22nd Century Natural Woman as well. I've incorporated banding with my girls and myself and it's a wonderful thing. She's great and so are you!

Shannon Angel: This is my favorite method so far. I don't like over the top styles and overly complicated tutorials. You have my vote. Short and simple.<3

Marisha Daniel: YESSS on this method!!! I keep my hair in a stretched state too! I will definitely be trying this on wash day next week!

Nikki J _23: Your hair is so beautiful, and so are you. I am two years in being natural and just had it cut and shaped, and my hair is pretty short. Not twa short but short. I can’t wait to retain some length to give this method a try!

Ashley Fubler: Absolutely cannot wait to try this!! Your results are everythingggg!!

Monifa 360: Your hair looks amazing!! I have done this method before but not with so many hair ties. I will try this method the next time I want my hair stretched ❤

Shelly Smith-Mitchell: Thanks for sharing this! Fabulous results! Love your hair!

Natural Nirvana: You are so gorgeous girlie! Loved this! I’m definitely going to have to try this. Thanks for sharing India.

Aundrea Williams: Your hair is hair goals for me. I would love to be able to wear my twists in a half up half down hair do if my hair was long enough

Ladenna Young: Beautiful hair! You all do a really good job maintaining your natural hair.

shantia harvey: Yes ma’am I so needed this tutorial! I’m trying this tomorrow

O: I’m definitely going to try this method! I usually stretch my hair with a blow dryer. This method looks way more reliable than other ones i have seen

Brandee Larae: Thank you omg I’ve been looking for ways to stretch my hair and it never crossed my mind to use this method

Natonya M.: What an incredible idea!!! Trying this too

Gina: I have been loosely banding in 5 sections, but now I’m gonna try this method to get more stretch

byoung4eva1: I stretch my hair with yarn, basically the African threading method, but with yarn lol Also, I love 22nd Century Woman's channel. Love your hair, and thanks for sharing

Giovanahc: Wow it's amazing to see all the naturals on YouTube now! Especially type 4 and 4c! Your beautiful and you have a lot of hair! It's so healthy! Thanks for sharing your tips and tricks!

dahemiag: This is right in the nick of time! I've been looking for a way to stretch my hair

Ree Sturgeon: Your hair is beautiful either way. After I watch this video I hopped right in the shower and did the same method as you. Can't wait to see what it looks like tomorrow. Keep up the good work ❤

Queen LeLe: I took down my protective style and washed my hair last week and I have a lot of shrinkage and I’m so glad I came across this video because I need to stretch and twist my hair . I get a lot of knots and tangles when I let my hair shrink . I have 4a hair .

Shirley Mejia: I used blow dryer to stretch my hair, but now I’m gonna try this method . Thanks for sharing ❤️

iMadameJay: Your hair is looking so good! Love it!

DTrainsWife01: What do you do at night to make it last two weeks? This is fantastic! I can’t wait to try it. I love my hair and all it can do now that it’s thick and healthy. Thank you ☺️

Lady B: Thanks so much for sharing this video!! I am definitely going to try this method on my next hair wash day! Lord knows that I hate wash day and this will make it much easier for me!!

Adrian Taft: Just Beautiful! From afro to stretch!

Isolda: Beautiful girl with beautiful hair; & this was so well presented & encouraging! Thank you.

Laqwanna Franklin-Caines: I do a wet twist out most of the time but I have been doing 2 braids lately to cut time fussing with it. I've been wanting to get locs, so I do the twists in the size I would want my future locs to be. The longer I keep the twists in, depending on how big the twist is, I'll split that one into 2 or three. Feels good not to use heat. Just need to find a good leave in now for my hair.

DeLinda Williams: Your hair is gorgeous. I have done both banding and threading and it's great, but I don't have the patience. For the past 3+ years,I've been stretching my medium sized twists around my head and pinning them down for 2+ days, and I get a lot of stretch.

A Griffin: I have been looking for another way to do my hair so this is timely. My hair is getting longer so it’s more work and I’m trying to simplify the process. I’m going to try a variation of this. Thank you!!!

Jyvhyshkarr Elias: Thank you! I was really looking for a heartless blow out and you came through lol... I will try this out next wash day.

simplyMegan: I tried the banding method years ago, but I didn't really like my results. I'm sure I did something wrong lol. Now that my hair is healthier, I will give it another shot! Typically when I stretch my hair I blow-dry it but I want to try and limit my heat usage again. Thanks for sharing!! :)

Quijuandas: You and your hair are absolutely gorgeous!!!

R B: Even STRETCHED fro is STILL a fro and is Def still Natural Hair. So I don't even think any disclaimers are needed when people Stretch their hair... love your hair sis!!!!

EV Body: Tried this method. Love it.

The Bourgeois Fashion: definetly going to try this method! ive been using too much heat blowing my hair out so i'm gonna do this for some love and care haha

kweenni: Love it..actual tutorial starts at 4:09

free2rimeanytime: Definitely going to try this! What butters do you recommend? I have yet to use one but I would love to know what products to use to minimize shrinkage!

Deanna Mccloud: Absolutely love your videos! I stretch my hair using curlformers so I can avoid so many single strand knots. After I take them out, my hair looks like I used heat to achieve it.

Renee11123: I will try this method! I have the same textured hair as you and have trouble with my hair. You're a life saver !

The Real Heleyna: I’m gonna try! This maybe the solution I’m looking for. natural hair can absolutely be simplified! Thank you sis

Sycanie Tanisha: This is the same method I used to stretch my locks, and it really worked.

Juanita Richardson: Ok! You have inspired me to try something different. I have been making bantu knots with two strand twists and I feel like I am manipulating my hair too much. The only thing is I have to "set" my hair like every night to look sensible the next day. I'll see how long the results last. TY for sharing.

itsshericka: This video is everything I needed

Thrifting Grandma: Hello, I"m glad I found your videos! I'm a 66 yr old grandma, and my hair is a little below bra length. I decided to not get any more relaxers when my eczema flared last year. I haven't had a relaxer since May of '17. I'm going to try the banding method to keep my length. Thanks for the info.

rachray83: Love your hair and the density is insane . Honestly this would be sooo stressful on my hair and i aint got the patience. I just tension blow dry in cool and its stretched enough, cuticle closed, products locked in

Fine Natural Hair and Faith: Looks great both ways. I love how thick your hair is. How do you maintain it at night so it doesn’t revert? I stretch with banding and also stretched twists. Plus curlformers lol many ways without heat. I can’t deal with my hair in its shrunken state because of the tangles too

Donisha E.: My hair seems to retain a lot of length when it is stretched, so will be trying out this method.

Channel Fiend: THANK YOU SIS!!!!!!!!!! I will be trying this this tomorrow!!!

melissa melisa: Love it! Beautiful!

Keyanna Suddreth: I cannot wait to try this! I've been looking for more ways to stretch out my curls! Question! Since you leave your hair banded like that for a couple of days, how do you wear it out in public? Do you cover it? Just curious as to how I can maintain mine for a couple of days (while still going to work) so that it can air dry well before I take the bands out!

MEEKS MISSION: I use to band my hair with new growth from a relaxer too. I started doing it since 2001 and stopped in 2006. I couldn’t figure out what I did either to maintain length, strength, and avoid blow drying. I am glad I seen this video. Thank you ! I will be growing my hair back and using your techniques

Queen Onwuka: Thank you I will be trying this method this weekend xx

Loyalty Soul: I've been naturally since 2010 and have a hard time with my hair trying to train it to stretch down instead of growing out never did the big chop started going natural in june of 2009 and my hair dries very easily as well...thanks for the video I will try this method next

Tiff Temperance: Your hair looks great and very healthy. I stretch my hair using the banding method. I have a question...how do you keep your hair moisturized in it's stretched state without it reverting back to curly. This has been my issue with keeping my hair stretched.

nadine lacombe: thank you so much for this and for adding the note about what you use to twist after this method! your hair looks gorgeous!

whits water: Awesome! I cannot wait to try this!

Alex D: Just washed my hair so I'm definitely about to try this lol!

C. Mbaba: THANK YOU SO MUCH! I'm excited to try this out soon

Krystle Pierre: I luv the results. Thanks for such a helpful video. I'm going to try it on my wash day tomorrow.

haweygs: Your hair is GORGEOUS! I’m sending your video to my daughter. She has very thick hair. Her hair has never been permed or hot pressed.

Quenj74: LOVE IT! Beautiful sis!

mangopeel: Black women are magicians lmao this is amazing I’m going to try it. Much love

Dionni Thompson: Your hair looks beautiful and healthy! I wash my hair or mist it with water, then I apply jojoba oil and then a cream (sometimes I do cream then oil) then I put my hair in twists ( the more twist I use the more definition). Next I African thread each individual twist. I sleep with an oversized bonnet that has a drawstring so it can be pulled snug to stay on but it doesnt "smash or scrunch" my hair when I sleep.

Frolie: Don't shrinkage be the truth? Smh...the TRUTH!

Meggs: Sooo pretty!

Elaine Parker: Your hair is absolutely gorgeous just as you are.

Stephanie Mitchell: I stretch my hair like this: it can be whatever state, clean or dirty. Use a wet moisture, then a cream based conditioner, then an oil-based conditioner (my hair does best w/a glycerin, not everyones does so know your porosity). I do small to medium 2 strand twists all over. When that is done I divide all the twist into 1/4 sections. So I have 4 sections when I am done. I use hair wrap paper from top to bottom around each section until all 4 sections have the paper wrapped around it from top to bottom. It looks like 4 long ponytails. The reason I use the wrap paper is because with scrunchies or bands I always noticed marks and creases left in the hair once it dries, The wrap paper method also lays any stray hairs in the same direction reducing frizz like CRAZY!! Even with my glycerin base. Anyway, this was a good video. Love seeing how others get it done!

Suzette Gherbi: I love this technique it just that my hair takes forever to dry. Your hair is beautiful.

CeCe’s Tyme: Beautiful hair style and techniques.

Pamela Wright: You are so positive. You have a beautiful face and a pretty smile and the most lovely, Cleopatra hair. I appreciate these tips and I subscribed to your channel cuz I want to see more. I have been banding my hair but now I will do it like you do it. Love your results. Thank you!

Mickyala Graham: I am gonna definitely try this method!

Brittany Harrison: I clicked immediately #hairgoals I do this method too I love it!!

Oumou Diallo: MyNaturalSistas is giving top notch content, and better quality than a lot of these youtubers. They are deserve way above 1 million subscribers. Too underrated for such product.

Naturally_India: I've just recently started to use the banding method for my wash n go's and it works well!

Mrs. V: Definitely trying this thanks Queen!

Wild Flower: I’ll be trying this thank you. I still to this day do your big curly fro, but during this time of season I really don’t want my hair exposed to the cold or even the dry heat in my home, so I’ll be doing this but I really need to load up on bands. Would you ever do one with more sections instead of pigtails just to give us another look? Even though my hair is growing I’m still trying to get more length so right now I can’t do two pigtails...hopefully by 2019 spring/summer. Thank you for the wonderful video. I look forward to seeing more.
