People in the Middle Ages were the original No Shampoo movement. I wonder how that's sitting with modern humans and our insistence on shampooing our hair literally every day? How often should you wash your hair, actually?

Hair history doesn't have any easy answers, sorry . . .

Fine go ahead dry, your hair out by shampooing it every day, see if i care well, i guess it's fine, that your hair is so dirty because nobody ever sees it. Anyways

Jackie Thomas: I'm a once or twice a month kind of medieval lady. It's summer so I'm doing an actual wash every 2 weeks, but dry shampoo/hair powder and actually combing leaves it silky and clean! :)

Crow Jane: When I’m feeling bad about not having hair, content like this reminds me that it is sometimes a real hassle. I wish I could say that I use the time I don’t spend washing, brushing, and styling it on something useful, but really, it just gives me more time for tea.

saraquill: My hair is dry to begin with, and I don’t have the spoons for frequent washing. Hence regular goes with a hairbrush or fine toothed comb to keep things clean.

Asilja Nijara: I don't really have the spoons for the daily wash to keep my curls in shape, so i mostly just go with the medieval version. Thanks for showing me that btw

Luke Russell: I’m a guy but I’ve been growing my hair out longer and longer. And now I find myself washing my hair less so my hair will have at least some natural oils in it.

MizzKittyBichon: I only wash my hair twice a week. I used to wash more frequently, but ever since I learned how to properly care for my natural curls, I've found that I can go longer between washes.

Harko: There is little valuable insight I can share, you can’t not wash what you don’t have

MissMeganBeckett: I don’t have the energy for daily hair care most of the time, but I know I can’t put off shampooing any longer when my scalp pores start getting blocked, I have an oily scalp so the skin cells can’t shed properly without a good wash and scrub every week. Most of the time brushing my hair and wearing it up is enough to keep it out of the way and since it is really long I don’t look greasy as long as I keep up with the brushing.

Joana: my scalp is a frickin desert so I have no choice but to wash it every four days at most, plus I only use Rhassoul which has done wonders!

ItWasAGoodIdeaAtTheTime: I have *VERY* thick hair & where I live in Australia it gets *SO* hot. Here in the summer that I have to wash. My hair at least once a day, sometimes twice if its a particularly hot day. Simply because of the amount of sweating that I do. Otherwise I find my hair smells *REALLY* rancid if I don't.
