Hi guys and welcome back to my channel or if you are new here then hello - my name is kate, so today's video is going to be an updated, haircare routine. I filmed one of these maybe a year ago, which now and since then i've introduced a lot of new products, tried out new things and i'm always getting so many questions from you guys about my hair. So i thought i'd just do an updated hair care routine. It'S also worth noting as well. My hair naturally isn't long, healthy and shiny. Like this um i mean this is all my real hair. Don'T get me wrong, but my hair is actually very dry and quite brittle. It'S also very fine, so it requires a lot of upkeep. So over the years i have just really got a good understanding of what keeps my hair healthy and looking good another thing as well. My hair doesn't really grow on its own. It gets to about. Maybe here and then it stops so for me to get any kind of length on it. I really have to kind of help it almost and give it what it needs so yeah. I really tailor my routine around the health of my hair to make it grow, to make it shiny and to prevent breakage as much as possible. So yeah, i'm going to take you through my routine. From a to b, i wash my hair once or twice a week, and this is something you really have to train your hair to do the more often you wash it the more it gets used to being washed that often, and it will tend to get greasy More often so, you've just really got to stick out and wash your hair as little as possible, and then eventually, your hair just stops getting greasy so fast, and it's just better to wash your hair less often really because you're not going to be using as much Heat on it as much product and it's just letting it kind of breathe and do its thing naturally, before i jump into the shower i'll, use a pre shampoo treatment, and this could either be an oil or olaplex. One of my favorite pre shampoo treatments is the bondi boost oil. This is just so good, it smells so lovely and fresh, and it just has such amazing ingredients in. I also really like how the nozzle is like this kind of small one, so you can really use it to get into the root of the hair. So what i'll do is i section off my hair bit by bit and just apply the oil to the root? If you compare your scalp and your hair to maybe like a garden, for example, your flowers aren't going to grow big and beautiful if the soil is dry and unnourished. So by just adding this bit of moisture to your scalp really does help your hair to grow faster and to improve the quality and the shine of the hair growing. Sometimes i'll apply this from root to tip, but sometimes i just apply it in my root. My next step is to then go in with my tangle teaser scalp, massage and exfoliator, i'm actually working with tangle teezer on this part of the video which is so exciting because, as you guys know, i think i've mentioned them in every single hair video. I'Ve ever done so this little tool is honestly incredible. I don't know what i did before i had this. This literally comes everywhere with me. I just love it. So much so like what i was saying earlier. Keeping your scalp in good condition is so important for the rest of your hair health and what this does is it really just exfoliates the scalp um? It removes any product buildup, it removes any dry skin any dandruff, and it just helps with so many scalp issues. So, for me my scalp is very, very dry and even after shampooing i will get kind of flakes just around like the t section of my hair and i'm really not a massive fan of like physical exfoliators in the hair, like a hair scrub, i just find It um quite like invasive, and i've just never found one that worked basically, but this is completely up all of my dandruff on my hair. I literally have none now, which is just amazing. For me. It'S also great at removing product build up. So if you find that you do have a lot of product build up, this will be a great tool for you just to give you guys a bit of an up close look. This is what it looks like you have like these longer spines and then the shorter spines and, as you can see in the clip. What i do is, i kind of run it all the way through my scalp and from front to back, and it just feels incredible. So i started by using the spikes in the middle and then what i'll do is i use the pressure point. Spikes just to go up my scalp and it just really targets the pressure points and you can just feel it doing something, and i just love it so much so before i use this. I just use my hands to massage my head and my nails and just kind of rake through with my nails. I guess, and the only problem with that is it can make your hair quite greasy, but this doesn't make your hair greasy, which means i'm able to do it a bit more often because, like i said, i don't really wash my hair more than twice a week. I'Ve also tried other brands of scalp massages and they honestly just don't, compare and yeah. I honestly can't recommend it enough, so i work the oil in with the scalp massager, and this really just helps it get in to the follicles and then i'll use olaplex in from the ear down and odoflex is just an amazing product. I cannot recommend it anymore. There is so much science behind it. Unfortunately, the shampoo and conditioner just doesn't quite work for me, but the number three is just one of my all-time favorite hair products. I recently bought a larger bottle because it is just such a staple in my routine, so it's definitely worth investing in, even though it is expensive. What oliplex does is it re-links, those broken bonds that the hair strand gets from heat damage or styling damage or color damage, and it just smooths over strengthens it up? It builds up, and it's just such a unique product. Before i go to the salon and get my hair colored, i use only flex number one and two: this generally is a salon treatment. You don't do it at home, but three is the one you can do at home. It only works on damp hair, so make sure your hair is wet, and what i'll do is i just apply it all the way down brush it through my fingers, so it's evenly distributed, and i leave it in from anything from 10 minutes to overnight. If i do use it overnight, i'll just pop a shower cap on my head, just to prevent my pillow getting all damp and horrible and product all over it and the reason i don't use it on my roots is just because my roots don't need it. My roots are generally very healthy. I get practically no colour on my roots and i don't really use a lot of heat on my roots, so i tend just to use it on where my hair needs the most, which is from here down the next morning. I then jump into the shower and do my hair routine in there. So i start off by shampooing and there's a few shampoos that i like to use. I tend to alternate them quite a bit just because i feel like my hair can get used to one particular shampoo, so i do like to mix up so i get benefits of lots of different brands. Shampoo i'm currently using is the moroccan oil hydrating shampoo, and this smells incredible and it makes your hair feel so soft and silky without weighing it down at all. Another favor is the kerosene genesis shampoo, and this is targeting hair, breakage and hair falling out. When i'm stressed, i automatically kind of pull at my hair and i don't even realize that i'm doing it, but that basically causes a lot of breakage and hair fall out. It'S something i'm really trying to work on, but for now this is really helping with um improving that and then, if you're looking for a cheaper alternative shampoo that is really good. I also recommend the garnier ultimate blend almond crush. This is so good and it's a very natural shampoo. It also smells amazing. I really really like this one. So when shampooing, i will then go in with my tangle, teezer brush again and just kind of use it instead of my hands. I guess i just find it slightly easier. It really just lifts up any dirt any grease and just gives you that much deeper clean and then, instead of a conditioner, i use a mask just because they tend to penetrate deeper into the hair, and i just see far more benefits from using masks over conditioner. The one i'm currently using is the kerastase genesis range again, the same thing as the shampoo, and although it does contain some silicones, i've actually been reading up a lot about silicones recently and kind of just questioning why we think it's so bad a bit more and What i've kind of gathered so far? It'S actually not bad as long as there's not a lot in it. It just depends on the type of silicone and the amount that's put in there, because silicone actually does have hair protecting qualities and as long as it's not creating those build up on your hair, it is actually okay, but that is obviously just from my own research Feel free to do your own, of course, another mask i really love and always go back to is the maria neela mask, and this is just like magic in a pot. It makes your hair feel incredible. It'S one of those products that almost makes your hair feel a little bit too soft and silky like so much so that it goes slightly limp. This is just my go-to and my hair feels that bit extra dry, i just love this one bondi boost is another mask that i am just obsessed with. I go through it so quickly, though, so i currently don't have one but yeah. I just tend to alternate those ones in a bit of a circle, depending on what my hair needs so i'll put that through my hair and evenly distribute it by raking it through my fingers. I'Ll then twist it into a bit of a bun and leave it in for around 10 minutes and in that 10 minutes i will probably just wash my face wash my body. Sometimes i brush my teeth. Listen to music just enjoy the shower. I then go ahead and rinse out with cold water, and this isn't a nice experience, but honestly, the more you do it, the more you're used to it. I'Ve been doing it for years now and i'm so used to the cold water. I really do find that it makes a good difference, though, so it's definitely worth it and similar to rinsing your face of cold water. What it does in your hair is, it closes the pore which makes them less likely to pick up any grease any dirt. It also reduces the frizz on your hair, massively um. It really just moves the cuticle down and closes and seals everything off nicely. So it's really good, especially after using a mask, because you really want to retain everything. You'Ve just put on your hair and having smoother cuticles on your hair, basically means the light is going to reflect off it better, making your hair look nice and shiny once i'm done in the shower. I don't know if this is a really obvious one. I mean i'm sure everyone does this, but just in case you don't i'll, give my hair a good rinse with my hands i'll, just really squeeze it and to kind of rinse out. I do this nice and gently, of course, but just trying to get out any water, because the less drying time we have after the shower, obviously that's just better and makes the rest of the hair routine a lot quicker i'll then go ahead and brush my hair. I use the tangle teezer detangling wet brush. This is so good and brushing your hair wet is normally quite damaging, because when your hair is wet, it's a lot more kind of stretchy, but this literally causes zero damage and it just completely glides through there's no knots and yeah tangle adhesive brushes are the only Brushes that i ever use and i've been using a few years just because they are unique and they are just the best i'll then get an old cotton t-shirt and wrap my hair in a bit of a turban. I don't how dry my hair, because towel drying is quite rough on your hair and also kind of sucks the moisture out quite a lot and cotton is just a lot more gentle when my hair is around 50 dry i'll, then go ahead and add my moroccan Oil into the ends of my hair: this is another go-to product that i've loved for years. It really does reduce the frizz and just makes your hair so much more manageable. I notice a huge difference when i don't use it and then again i just break this through my hair evenly distribute it. I will then leave my hair as long as possible to dry naturally, and then, when it's around 90 dry, i will then go ahead and use my dyson air wrap i'll either use my dyson air wrap just to smooth the hair over ready for styling um, with Even my ghds or i use the dyson just to curl my hair straight away. I then use a heat protectant. My favorite at the moment is the ghd one. I just find it's very non-invasive like it doesn't, leave your hair greasy. It doesn't change the texture of your hair at all. It just does its job, which is what we want i'll leave my full dyson tutorial down below, because i go into all of the detail there and then once it's all dry and styled. I will then go in with my olaplex bonding oil, and this is a new addition to my hair care routine. You need a tiny amount. I just rub it through my hands and then distribute it throughout my hair, comparing this to the moroccan oil one. This is a little bit more. This is kind of greasy in a way, which is why i use such a small amount. But i do find it really helps with the shine of my hair, and i just really like putting it over my hair after using heat on it, and i just feel like it really adds that extra protection on your hair - it's got uv protection. It also has heat protection. If you were to use heat on your hair again, it's not going to affect the curl or weigh your hair down or anything like that with the moroccan oil. I tend to use a lot more of it. So that's why i use that on damp hair or as a treatment before going to bed. I always get asked how i set my curls. If i use any kind of spray or anything and honestly i don't one thing, i would say: if you use the dyson, i would definitely opt for the thin barrel over the thick barrel. When i use a thick barrel, my curls, don't really last it more just gives me a very gentle wave in my hair, whereas using the thin barrel really does hold the curl very well. I then won't touch my hair for maybe three or four days before i have to wash it again and by day four. My hair is pretty straight with just a bit of a bounce at the end, which i think is a really nice look. So i like the way it very gradually falls out. I also think the way you sleep with your hair really has an effect on the quality of your hair as well, and this isn't something i haven't really used to consider that much. But now it's such a huge part of my hair care routine. So what i'll do is? I will apply oil in my hair i'll either use the moroccan oil, sometimes the bonding oil. I sleep on a silk pillowcase. This honestly makes a huge difference. There'S two pillowcases that i use two brands that i use. Even i love the lily silk pillowcases. They are such good quality. They are a bit more expensive, but you can really feel the quality and they wash quite well as well. If you're looking for a cheaper alternative, i also have some satin ones from amazon and they're, definitely nowhere near as soft as the lily silk, but they still basically do the same job. When i use a cotton pillowcase, i wake up with quite dull hair. There'S not a lot of shine to it and i also wake up with like a lot of kinks, quite a lot of frizz and the style just hasn't held, whereas when i use my silk ones on my satin ones, i wake up with my hair the same As i go to bed with it and then another thing i do is i flip my hair over the pillowcase, so i'll move my pillowcase down a bit away from the headboard off the bed and flip my entire hair over it, and what this does is. It means that there's no friction between your head and the pillowcase there's also no weight on your hair, so it's not going to change shape and yeah. Like i said you literally wake up with the hair you went to bed with, which is revolutionary for me, because i used to always wake up with completely different hair. I also always take biotin before going to bed, and i've mentioned this in previous videos. It'S something i swear by for hair growth. I really do believe this is the product that helps me most with hair growth and i've tried quite a few different brands. I used to use sugar bear hair way way way back. That actually really does work. It'S brilliant! I'Ve used lighting off amazon, i've used these holland and barrett ones, and i think out of all of them, i do like the holland and barrett ones. The most the ones i used to get off. Amazon are 10 000 mgc. This one is only a thousand, but i kind of feel they do the same thing. These are a tad more expensive, though um and if you are prone to acne, definitely be wary of taking these. I know that they can sometimes make it worse. So, as always just make sure you consult your doctor before adding any vitamin into your routine supplement wise other things that help are having a high protein diet. I'Ve just started using the dose and collagen protein powder and it's quite a good two in one really, because obviously your hair is made up of collagen and protein, so by in taking more of it, it's definitely going to aid your hair into growing and being healthy. It also tastes, amazing, i'm not normally a huge fan of protein powders because they can taste quite artificial, but this one i do really recommend and we'll definitely be purchasing it again. Once i finish this top, i also do always use silk scrunchies on my hair. They are so much more gentle than regular hair ties, and you know i just prefer them as well, because i feel like they give your hair more volume like whenever i have my big ponytails. They just give your hair, like this volume, that normal hair bands can't do my favorite brand for scrunchies are slip and the napco. Those are the two ones i use and they have both thick ones and nice, thin ones as well, and then the final tip i have just for maintaining your hair throughout the week and making that wash last as long as possible is to use dry shampoo. Even on clean hair, so even the day off washing, i will use dry shampoo on my hair and this really helps just to kind of absorb oils. As you go, and i find the best time to use, it is before bed because you just spray it in and it kind of absorbs overnight and you're not left with lots of product build up. But i honestly just use the tiniest amount just around my t-zone on my hair so like round here and here my top two brands for dry shampoo are moroccan oil and and living proof. The moroccan oil one is more like your everyday dry shampoo and it does leave a little bit of residue, but honestly it comes out so easily. I love the smell of it. It doesn't dry your hair out and they also do one for blondes and brunettes, which is very handy for any root touch-ups that you might need and then the living proof. One is also really great. This actually cleans your hair, so rather than masking it, it completely eliminates any sweat, odor oil. So i tend to use this more towards the end of the week and then this is the beginning of the week um, but get these two on my face so yeah. That brings me to the end of my hair care, routine. That is absolutely everything i do to look after and maintain my hair um. So yeah there's these things that really work for me and i know i've been recommending them kind of my stories on my instagram this past year, and so many of you, girls as well, have said how some of these products have helped. You too, which is just amazing, so if you have any more comments, just leave them down below i'll, get back to you and and yeah. I really hope you guys enjoyed this video. I'M wishing you a lovely rest of the week. I love you all so so much and i'll see you next time. Bye, you

Elisa Orus Plana: Thank you for acknowledging that your hair doesn't always look like this. Hair is like body, and social media sometimes mislead us into thinking that everybody's hair is always SO perfect, while it's not. We're all human, and our imperfections make us perfect, and that's what's beautiful after all :)

Danae: Training your greasy hair to be less greasy with less washing doesn't work for a lot of people though... only if the excess grease is caused by scalp inbalances. A lot of people just have greasy skin (like on your face, you can't train your face to be less greasy), it is just a skin type. So if your hair get's greasy quickly, just wash it when you want to :) just try to avoid daily washing and focus shampoo on the roots and not the lenghts! ❤

Chloe M: This is perfect I’ve literally just added all these products to my basket I was in desperate need of a new hair routine!!

Pink & Fabulous: That’s so helpful, thank you. My hair breaks a lot

Lavinia Eletti: Thank you so much for the video it reassured me on my routine :) : I also wash my hair every 4 days and try to let it air dry as much as possible before finishing up with the blowdrier at medium temperature for 5 minutes and style with my iron with a good heat protectant <3 ... Unfortunately I can't let it air dry all the way before ironing it due to the strong winters here in Italy but oh well...

chloe Jannelli: This was so so helpful, thank you! You are so lovely <3

tay: Hey just a little tip, the olaplex oil also helps protect hair from heat! So maybe try applying it before using your heat styling products next time!

Jyotimoiee Saikia: You are so beautiful and so is your hair. You are honest about your true self and embracing your true self. It requires more than a little courage to take on how people view you as just yourself. Be TRUE

Henné Addicted: I LOVE videos like these, thank you so much!

Two Names: If you are like me and can’t go too long without washing, try alternating with a co wash. My schedule is clarifying shampoo, skip, co wash, skip, clarifying, skip, etc. works well for me :)

Kassie Johnson: Babe, when you wash your hair you open the cuticals. When applaying the mask it's hydrating the cortex, but not closing the cuticles. So it is very important to apply a conditioner after your mask(!) to close the cuticals!! :D

Kerastase UK: Thanks for including us Kate!

Sally Nguyen: Please do an updated “how I edit my photos” or how you build your Instagram feed video

Rose: I've never personally had buildup from silicone, it was only when I switched to expensive and natural silicone-free conditioners where I started getting buildup.

grace isabella: your old hair routine was what introduced me to your channel i really love it xx

Αλεξάνδρα Τσιοπούλου: I agree with alla the steps that you follow but as a professional I can tell you for using olaplex you should first wash your hair after aplly it on wet hair, leave it and then wash again and aply shampoo. That way it's more effective for your hair.

Ilse Rodriguez: Your hair color and treatment is so gorgeous! I wanted to try something similar without bleaching the root. Do you mind my asking what you ask for at the salon? Color/treatment?

sunand sets: you're a natural beauty! love your content xx

Lucy F: I have the exact same hair type! I use the same olaplex products atm and love them! I’m gonna pick up one of the tangle teezer exfoliator brushes today☺️

Susie Price: Thank you, this is a great vlog

Sweetscinnamon: I just bought the shampoo & conditioner! I can’t wait. I’ll be sure to pick up a clarifying shampoo too. I needed something to use in conjunction with my Olaplex.

Victoria Walters: Your hair is so lovely! I definitely want to try the Moroccan oil

Jen Lion: Your hair routine is similar to mine :)

What to visit in Romania: You have a beautiful hair! ❤️

C N: Yaaay I’m so glad you did this video! Love your hair, always looks gorgeous I really wanna use the infamous olapex but afraid that it might be too strong for me and cause hair loss than hair growth. Thank you for being honest about how the shampoo and conditioner not working for your hair. Although my hair grows really long, it’s thin and I need something to help follicular stimulation. A trick I picked up years ago is washing my hair with cold water downwards so tilting your head down which is supposed to stimulate blood flow to the follicles. I need that tangle teezer brush. My hair is now 28 inches and has been long for like 15 years, sooo happy to get it cut soo much shorter for the first time in ages. But looking at your hair is gonna make me miss it but I definitely need the refresher! Haven’t even used heat on my hair for a good 3 years and never coloured. Thank you for the tips and tricks. Your hair is just so luxurious looking

Julia: Thanks for this thorough video

Anonymous: This video is bomb. You a deserve more subscribers Definitely from me.

Alicja: You look like in a hair products ad I also prefer hair masks rather than conditioners, but my hair is naturally pretty dry (plus I regularly blow dry it ) probably I should also take biotin as rn I only take zinc anyway I think one of the best tips is to use a satin pillow case and a scrunchie

Monique Bushee: your hair is so beautiful!!

Maayan Sacks: Silicone aren't bad I've been researching them for years

Linda Heinemanns: Thank your for the video. I plan to Color my hair from brown to blonde and I want to have a good haircare to reduce the damage.

Landra Criswell: It’s not healthy to use a lot of products on hair! No heat products(air dry), WET brush, brush upside down 2xs daily, AM & PM! I have waist length hair and love it naturally flow! Nature Bounty Hair Skin and nail vitamins 4xs daily… I use turbine towel and loose side braid at night. I’m also a 53yr old!! Argan oil weekly..

samantha: subscribed literally the second I heard your voice <3

Emma Hawkins: Where is the little glass jar you have your silk scrunchies in from?

Anonymous: How do you keep your hair looking nice between hair washes?

Anny Vitória: I loved hairstyle tutorial

Ines Tamayo: you don't use any shampoo to help your hair from becoming brassy, I been seeing a bunch of videos about it and don't know if I should use something for that since I just got my hair balayage

Danae: Yayy! Maria nila is such a great brand

English Bulldog Brothers: Do you have your hair down all the time? Asking because I don’t. I put it up throughout the day and would love to figure out how to keep the style. Your thoughts would be awesome.

Klára Allyson: Such a lovely video :) I've just uploaded a new one too :)

erika crawford: do you find the tangle teezer scalp massager tangles or breaks the hair? i want to buy one but have long thinning hair and nervous it will damage my hair or pull it out... also are you supposed to use it in a circular motion or just like a brush? any tips or advice would be much appreciated!!

Fighi Xiyz: Where are those earrings with the dangling stone from? They’re super cute ☺️

Laura: Wow your hair is the perfect color

Nathalie: What is the reason that the shampoo and conditioner from Olaplex doesn’t work for you?

Madelyn Exum: Silicone in hair care products creates a film on the hair that doesn’t allow moisture to penetrate into the hair shaft.

Anny Vitória: I loved your vídeo. Have a nice day

Celene Quintero: Are the spikes really spiky and uncomfortable in the exfoliating brush or is it comfortable enough. And do you think it’s good for really curly hair?

Kat Che.: Kate, what are you wearing? Love the top's color)

sam e.: is it fine if i add biotin to the supplements i take everyday?(cranberry pills and probiotics)

Yanna: water temperature does not close or open your pores or hair cuticles. what does have effect on hair cuticle is water pH. and i doubt any pH or temperature can open or close your pores at all

xox_Adinda_xox: Wait I watched Brad Mondo (he is a hair stylist irl that does videos on YouTube) and he did a video on how to wash ur hair and he said that rinsing with cold water does nothing.

Sunny Hairstikyroom: My sister put purple shampoo in my hair when I was asleep and now my hair feels really damaged It was in my hair for about 8 hours I’ve put eggs and Mayo in my hair but it made it worse what do I do to my hair plz reply someone thanks xxx
