Hey everyone welcome back to my channel glad to see you all here today, all right, so we are back with another 4c hair reaction, video and we are taking it back to tick tock. Yes, we are because i need to see how what the landscape is. Looking like right now, i do want to do just a little recap of the last few tick tock reaction videos, i've done because it's been almost a year since i first made my first 4c hair reaction, video for tic toc. You know i started this video series because i was seeing a lot and i mean a lot of women men on tick tock, just using the 4c hair hashtag and their hair was like 3a, and i was just like what's going on here. You know what i mean, so there was just a lot of discrepancy with hair typing and i just i was calling it out. So since it's been a year, i think quite a bit has changed. So i'm excited for today's video and if you guys want to binge watch any other forcey hair reaction, videos i have you, can click the link up here and watch away, let's get into the video, but before we do that, have you subscribed? No, no. Have you subscribed, i suggest you do you can't do it now and make sure you hit that notification bell, so you never miss an upload. I usually upload twice a week. So if you hit the notification bell, you'll get notified when i upload all right. Let'S get into the video okay, so you guys already know how it goes, i'm just typing in 4c, and i am looking through the hashtag and just clicking through any of the first few videos that i find so, let's see because i don't want to be black. I want to be white, oh my gosh wait. Why are we starting here? Oh my gosh, okay, whoa? Okay, i don't think miss. Ma'Am is joking! Wow! Sorry, oh my gosh! I this really just it, hurts my heart to see this, and this is the reason why i started my channel in the first place, because you know growing you're growing up as a black girl dealing with our natural hair like it's hard and the self-hate is so Real, it is so real. I really really do feel for this young lady. What'S her name flamin hot tima? Okay! Yes, i need you to know. You are flaming hot girl, wow, i don't even hold on. I have to do a prayer first, miss flamin hot tima. I mean literally like i said this is the reason why i started my channel, like the self hate growing up as a black girl, the dark skinned girl, whatever your skin tone is, but just growing up as a black woman with natural hair. It is really really difficult, and one of the things that i've you know mentioned in some of these reaction. Videos is that some of us are just starting our natural hair journeys, we're just starting our self-love journeys and self-acceptance journey, because it's really not just about our hair right. It'S about everything, accepting all aspects of ourselves that don't seem to be as accepted in society. So i just oh my gosh, i mean she seems very young. I just really hope that she's surrounding herself, with you, know images of other black women that are out there out here. Just you know, embracing themselves. I mean girl. If you want to follow me, i call it comment. I think, when it comes to things like this, when you're trying to build up your self-confidence yourself, love you're, trying to learn about your hair, you have to seek resources right. Youtube is an amazing platform for that. Instagram, but you have to start curating your feeds. You have to look for those things you have to type in forcey hair. You have to look up black influencers so that you're just constantly surrounding yourself with images that look like you and remind you, oh okay. This is beautiful. Oh this i could. I can do that. I can do this, so that would be my advice for anyone. That'S kind of going through that. Don'T worry girl you! You got this! Oh, my gosh, so sad, okay, next video, so the caption of that video was um when your hair catches you trying to skip wash day for another week, relatable, okay, hashtag relatable. First of all, this got some length on her. My goodness, this is some head yay to be fair, though i actually find that wash day isn't as long as it has to be, and you can check out my latest wash day routine i'll link it up here. I find that my wash day i mean to be fair. It'S still around like at least generally an hour and a half to two hours. That'S usually how my wash day goes, but i mean when you really think about it. Is that really that bad? Because that also includes a deep condition. You know what i mean, and that includes pre-pooing. So i don't know if it's really that much to be fair, it is a lot, but at the same time i don't know if it is that much sometimes i'm just like. I feel like we kind of hyped it and we kind of we start putting making putting adding all these extra steps to our hair routine. When really it's just like you really could just go wash your hair, you could do a little detangle and do - and i don't know, but to be fair. It'S still a lot. Your arms be hurt and it's a lot, but it doesn't have to be. It doesn't have to be, i think we just got ta watch our mindset, sometimes all right next video, so her curl, her curl is so juicy and more like her hair is so moisturized and juicy and her curl pattern is definitely i would still. I would definitely consider this 4c. It is quite tight. I do think there are tighter curl patterns than this, though, let me, let me, let me say, state that, and she may have parts of her hair that are a little bit tighter um, but definitely definitely just because it is uh. What'S it called her hair clumps together, you can think. Oh, oh, oh, that's not! 4C 4c hair does curl. The curls are just tighter, it's all about the curl size. So when it comes to hair the hair typing system, it's really just defining hair types by the curl size. I'M realizing now, though, that obviously there's a lot of discrepancy in the hair typing system, because you can we've seen through a lot of these videos. These reaction, videos that i've done we've seen people with tighter curl patterns right and we expect it to be coarse in texture, but it's actually silky. So then it confuses us and we're like wait. What based off of the hair typing system type 4 is supposed to be coarse, but we've seen that some of our hair can actually be a little bit silkier, but still have a tighter curl pattern. There'S definitely a lot of discrepancy in the hair typing system. We all know that right, i think at the end of the day, curl size is really what is what's differentiating and that's where we're trying to create the differentiation between 4c4b, 4a and 3c3b3a is the curl size. A lot of you guys are saying: oh yeah, i'm type 4, because your hair is bushy and there's no definition and it's like no. What is your curl size? Her curl size is definitely on the tighter end, so i would def i would consider it 4b. 4C. I we obviously can't see the rest of her hair she's, just only showing us one part. This could be a looser part. This could be the tightest, but i do think it's. It falls between 4b4c, so yeah i mean i just went on this rare right. It'S frustrating seeing people mistyping their hair. You know what i mean and like we like, i said previously, it's really all about the curl size and if you find that your hair is a larger bit larger ringlet, it's probably not for me. It'S really really disrespectful. When you comb your hair out right and you just comb your hair out and you put in an afro and you're like yeah, my hair is 4c. That is my nose. Okay, just because your hair is dry and bushy does not mean your hair is 4c. That is disrespectful. Another method to stretch my hair moisturize oil section, your hair grab the wool along the length of your hair dip on eso. Repeat that style was cute, wait! A second. Do i have wool? Do i have wool? That style was mad cute. I'M just thinking about the fact that since it got pulled back like that, you could put a head scarf on, you could put like a little hat on. You could actually put up an actual like fedora hat yo. I need that. I mean obviously you're gon na have to have a little bit more length on you, but i guess you could do more like parts if your hair was a little bit shorter, i'm gon na be trying that that's very nice, so her hair is definitely more of The typical 4c that we are used to that we all know and love from what i can see it's a coarser texture and to be fair. Her actual strands may not actually be coarse, but um the texture, if that makes it so there's curl pattern, there's texture! I have to look, i actually have to like. Actually let me look it up real quick. Let me see the difference. I already know what curl pattern is you see the internet is so confused as well, because even when you look up hair texture, they're, giving you hair types and they're giving you like 3a 3b - and it's like i'm looking for the texture, this curl pattern, which is The size of the curl and then there's texture, the feel of the hair, which i know one of them is coarse, medium, coarse and like less coarse and fine. Anyway, that's what i'm talking about from the look of her hair, i'm not even i i'm mistyping, i'm mislabeling it and saying it's coarse, but what i'm really saying is that it looks more cottony and pillowy. Essentially, that's what i'm trying to say um gorgeous, but i know this hair. I know this hair yeah. This is definitely that beauty supply store hair, but it's gorgeous. It'S actually one of my favorite styles. To do. Oh, my god. That just reminded me, i'm gon na. Do that style again, i miss it. If you want bigger hair girl check it out, i'm actually gon na link the pair in the description box. If you actually want it, it's one of my favorite hairstyles to do um and she has donates herself very lovely. It'S not even giving what y'all say is supposed to gave. No, i wasted my money, facts. Yeah i mean to each its own. I'M not gon na judge anyone, because everyone's hair is different and you may find that a demon brush works for you. But generally i feel like the denim brush is so harsh, so harsh on the strands. It'S giving very much. When was the denim brush really big? It'S giving like 20 whoa 12.. I think it's giving 2012. yeah, but i mean some naturals really swear by a denman like and they still use it to this day. So, at the end of the day, it's what works for you, but for me no! No! No! I stick to my tangled teaser, even the easy detangler, the felicia leather, with brush shoot any of those. Let me relax to relax, relax and relax. This is definitely relatable, because sometimes your patience is just runs very, very thin when it comes to doing our hair and what i've actually learned and like started implementing is just like putting on relaxing music, whether it's gospel or you know, i'm watching a show. If i'm twisting up my hair i'll put on a show just so that i'm not focusing so much on, oh my god, this is taking so much time and it's more so this is a part of my self-care routine. Does that make sense? Yes, you should try. It blow drying my lawn for sea hair length check that shrinkage, though no joke. This is the best hair dryer for type for hair times. You see me empty license from the bottle in my head. I'M feeling dizzy, but you never [, __ ] listen, got ta jump to your conclusions. I'Ve been heading in directions where i end up getting bruises. That'S what the truth is. I take the blame always getting jaded back around they're. All the same. Never wan na hear me. I'Ve been beaten from the start. I got money, i got pills and i got a broken heart. [ __, ] yeah, you all done very, very good. Yes, do you know how much time that takes i mean. Obviously this is like a 30 second video, but it seemed like she was really gentle with her hair, so that was nice to see so again from just how, when she took her hair out and sprayed it down a little bit. Obviously, that's not her hair in its like most, i guess moisturized state, i'm sure. If you know she really wet it down deep conditioned it and defined it with gel. You would definitely see more of a defined curl, but it's probably it's going to look a little bit tighter, but it does look like just from the few curls that i did see. Her hair definitely does look uh 4c, like typical 4c. So and as you can see, it's not like super tight, but it was tight. It was tight, it was tight and it was the curl size um. So that's something you want to keep in mind when you're thinking about your hair type and trying to figure out your hair type, curl size, curl size, i'm not going to talk about the state of her hair because that's not my business, that's not my business! Yes! So, like i said um, if you want to binge watch any other 4c reaction videos, i will link them up here. I will also have a link of any of my updated hair routines in the description box below so make sure you guys open that up, but that is it for today's video. I hope you guys enjoyed it. Let me know your thoughts. What did you guys think about any of these videos, just the hair typing, the tobacco? All of it? Let me know in the comment section below and i'll see you guys next time and while you're here you might as well just go watch a bunch of other videos as well. I mean they're here yay so enjoy them all right, i'll catch. You guys bye, y'all,

Melvina G Davis: That first video broke my heart. I pray that she has people in her life that make her feel beautiful!!!

Ashley Mya: Ok no the first one had me tearing up going on a self acceptance journey is def a must!

Musa Viki: Unfortunately, in accordance to the first video, society has conditioned us to think that way, non black hair is better than ours and so on. That if your hair isn't straight it's not pretty enough, that the closest you get get to that with curly hair is having looser curls. Though they are beautiful not every black person has looser curled hair, so some of those who do have kinkier hair end up insecure about their hair. When my mom first informed me I wouldn't be relaxing my hair anymore, after having only known my hair relaxed, I won't lie, I didn't like it, cause I had heard from others who were natural that natural hair was difficult to maintain, and heard all sorts of things that disheartened me. So I transitioned for about 8 months and I binged, and I mean binge watched natural hair YouTube videos, and unfortunately even on there most of the recommended people were mostly type 3/type 4a people. Not that it was bad or anything, but the likelihood of me, a southern African fully black child having type 3 hair, tho possible, is still much lower, and so I had this expectation that my hair would look like that. Once I finally big chopped, it wasn't like that, my hair wasn't 4c, it's 4a/b but I instantly fell in love with my hair, to the point I was so diligent with my routine, my mom kinda got angry cause I had school work and sports and stuff and she thought I was spending too much time on it. My natural hair was a huge part of my self acceptance journey as a black person. It made me realise that my blackness is beautiful and that's who I am, and no amount of relaxer, straighteners etc can change that. God made me the way I am for a reason and I should accept that. Having been exposed to cyber racism at a young age (not directed directly to me but just to black people in general) my self esteem as a 9 year old took a huge dip, and my personality changed. I was extroverted as a child, never against making random friends literally anywhere, but after that became much more introvert and on guard with people. Like I love people but am scared of them at the same time if that makes sense lol. I kept part of my prior personality but again it did drastically change. So my hair really has done a lot for me and I hope people come to accept the way they are and who they are. I've come to realise that my hair and skin colour should not be representative of my beauty and personality as a person. If someone can't see past those two aspects they aren't worth being in my life. Why should I change myself, at the cost of my self worth and dignity, for people who will not be in my life for a percentage of it yah know‍♀️ Yah idk if this all makes sense but I just wanted to share my story with people

Ali Jane: I grew up in Northern Ontario. I only knew a handful of people of colour. I did not meet a black person until I moved to Toronto at 30. I will never forget my new friend Monisa laughing at me when I suggested she take a quick shower before we went out. She sat me down and explained about her hair. She didn’t embarrass me, or get angry. She just giggled, and taught me. Learning about black women and hair care set off a lifetime of learning for me. I realized there was so much about people and the world I did not know, and I set out to broaden my world view. I haven’t seen Monisa in years, but I often think on that day, and her infectious laughter at my ignorance. Her kindness changed the trajectory of my life and my focus. Understanding the struggles of my sisters of colour is important to me, and hair was the first step in that.

𝐿𝒟𝑅: As a 14 year old guy with 1a hair that first one seriously destroyed me. I have a friend with 3c hair and it’s always very amazing to experience shrinkage and how versatile her hair is. My hair isn’t boring but it’s definitely not as unique or versatile as African hair. She really needs to be exposed ti the beauty of having 4 type hair! Its a lot of work, but you get so much out of it.

Thy Lady Hyacinth: That's the absolute truth about how we've hyped up wash day. Really the only extra time we have to take is for detangling. And we don't need the deep conditioner in for hours.

Néy Marks : I was binge-watching all your vids for the past few months as I started my transitioning journey. I'm 18 and You always make me laugh while I learn about the beauty of self-love. This video officially made me subscribe. Much love from South africa❤

Omni Lux: The first girl needs to know how BEAUTIFUL she is!!! Don’t let the media make you think that one type of body, hair, personality, etc is any better than you. There is ONLY ONE YOU!!!! Don’t be afraid to ask for help and don’t be afraid to be bold!

Makeupqueenroo: The wool hair style is how i grew up getting my hair done my whole life when I was growing up in Zimbabwe. You can do a lot of cute and detailed looks with wool

Janet Nash: That first young girl crushed my heart and brought me to tears. Massive love to anyone struggling with the bullshit commercial propaganda that we are subjected to.

stxrlee: Also in the first one I'm pretty sure the kid the audio was in said "I don't wanna be black I wanna be white" so not only was the girl in the tiktok saying she hated her hair, it was a REAL CHILD saying they hated the race they were. I'm praying that that girl realizes her hair and her race is beautiful.

Arebea Bridgewater: We need more channels like this. Normalize the fact that ALL hair types are beautiful. My heart breaks for young girls like the one in the first video....

Bunny Baker: I just love your beautiful natural look, the hair and makeup are just ✨ I’m not black but I do have curly hair, 3b-3c Latina. I really have to thank the natural hair community (largely made up of black women) for helping me learn how to take care of and appreciate my hair. Love what this community has done for myself and my curly and coily sisters Something about my appearance I once rejected is now something I really love and appreciate and I have this lovely community to thank for that. Just thought I’d throw some positivity back out there and share a bit about myself. Y’all have a lovely day ✨

The Only: Growing up I was/still am the first girl. Definitely trying to force myself to love my hair now, but literally yes. Being mixed I had the “blackest,” hair of all my siblings. 4c when I was growing up to 4b now, my family always made sure to let me know I had the “worse” hair, and how “mixed kids aren’t supposed to have that kind of hair.” From being pulled on to laughed at, at school, home etc. it really stuck to me.

Dimitra Katsaras: I find it amazing how black women spend so much time on their hair. There are so many different hairstyles and I've always found them super pretty. To put your hair in tiny braids or intricate designs must take forever. I'm white and all I do is brush my hair every morning and leave it down during the day. I hope every black women reading this understand how beautiful their hair is and appreciates it.

Kami Koils: Yes Chizi, I’m not a fan of the Denman either…despite the fact that it was my mom’s go-to tool for us when we were kids. And it worked just fine back then, but not so much now ‍♀️ Also, I’m not even a 4c natural and CANNOT STAND when other naturals falsely claim they have 4c coils.

Spinach: im glad you mentioned the flaws in the 1a - 4c system. there is many issues within the system, 1. it was made by an anti black person 2. black hair cant be categorised by only a few groups. this is why there are so many arguments about it

Solange McMurray: Even as a lightskin mixed (Hispanic black and white) person I still had a hard time accepting my hair and learning its beauty, it’s been a year of natural hair care and I’m slowly starting to see the texture I had as a child come back, before all the perms, and straightening. I was constantly told my hair looked prettier straight, that it didn’t look professional if I wore it down. I was always chastised for my hair texture and how I used to style it (like a white girl Bc I didn’t know any better) n Bc it was always super frizzy and untamable, I remember getting trouble at work and everything for it. It’s sad when I see stuff like the girl in the first video Bc I was there at one point.

Curly Tisha: I laughed so hard at "I'm not going to talk about the state of her hair" part. I was legit side eyeing that part too

sun oxo: Thank you, as a white person its so informative to watch your videos. I am studying to become a hair dresser and this is so important for me to learn!

Iyinoluwa O: The wool/ yarn thing works so well! It's called threading. It stretches the hair for longer but maintains the "look" of the normal fro, for me at least. I love it for a big puff.

LovingZoi: As an adult, I followed your advise. I went through my IG and I deleted EVERYTHING that did represent us and the whole look of my page changed! What IG suggested to me immediately changed! It feels great! Your right we need to emerge ourselves in what makes us realize we are beautiful! Not taking anything away from ANYONE ELSE, I believe EVERYONE is beautiful, but if we don't do this sometimes we can forget how great and how capable we are.

Shae Smith: That first young lady is why I walk up (not too close) on folks and tell them how beautiful their hair actually is. When we don’t know, it is a whole struggle life so encouragement goes a looong way. Don’t wait for tomorrow, share some today✌

Giovanna Jaidev: This video really brought up a lot of thoughts for me about beauty standards and where our perceptions of those come from. I remember growing up in England and one of my best friends was mixed with a black mother. I remember everyone always complimented my friend and her mother on how beautiful they were, and I thought they were the epitome of what beautiful women were (even though they looked different from one another). I thought the 4b/c hair was beautiful in how it moved, how it could be styled etc. Later in life I would tell people this and they would say, well that's because their looks were fetishized by the people around you, because they were seen as exotic. But I can't actually relate to that at all. I didn't even have fetishization as a concept until it was defined to me in high school; and even then it wasn't a feeling of "oh I know this, I just didn't have the vocabulary to describe it" it was more of "oh wow, I didn't even consider this was something that could exist" feeling. I think deep down I believe that I truly thought they were beautiful because they just were, and that everyone around me said the same because they are truly beautiful--not because they were rare or exotic. It complicates it more that I remember associating the family with being truly British, with holding an ideal of beauty consistent with British identity, even though in reality the looks of my friend and her mother were uncommon for where we lived in England. I guess what I'm saying is, is there a force at work in society today which makes us doubt the beauty we naturally observe and appreciate in the world? I didn't want to be my friend or her mother growing up, I didn't alter my appearance to be similar to their natural traits, but I also recall a deep sense of longing for the thick hair, for the dark skin.

karen horton: The Denman brush use to rip my hair out. I learned to modify it by removing every other row of bristles now I love it…it helps to define those sometimes pesky ends❤️

ILAH Mache: So...I'm a white girl and I like watching your hair videos more than I do hair videos relating to my own hair type. So thick, gorgeous, curly, and creative! Don't stop doing these videos :)

Tia Kenyatta: this is why i will continue to say your hair type does not matter. it doesn't tell you much about your hair and 9/10 you're gonna have more than one type in your hair at once. Hair Porosity and hair Density is what people need to know more about because that's more helpful when it comes to learning and doing your hair

Jessica Lee: I love that you address the difference between the coarseness/texture and the actual curl pattern. I have fairly coarse hair but my curl patterns are 2C/3A with some random 2B areas. Texture and curl pattern are as different as the number and letter on bra sizes. LOL Thank you for covering this!!! And my heart breaks for that first lady. She is so beautiful with her natural hair!!!

Emma Bemma: awe dude i was so sad when i saw the 1st oneee :' I girl girl you are bootiful, and just because society makes straight hair better, it doesn't mean a thing! you are gorgeous and love yourself for who you are! I know i don't have 4c hair and i actually do have straight hair but trust me... i admire you girls who take care of your hair, and make yourselves gorgeous. I think that coily hair is just as beatiful as any other type of hair <3

Tala Muffy: Omg that first video. That’s how I felt about my hair all throughout elementary I wanted white ppl hair so bad. I still get tired with my hair sometimes but I definitely accept it much more and don’t wish for someone else’s hair anymore

NokhanyoN: Okay with the first girl I think what she's trying to say is that she wants the versatility of straight hair, I'm too old to be on tiktok so I don't know for sure but I noticed that all the images she put up had colour and "trendy" hair cuts. She probably finds natural hair too restrictive. She's young and wants to play with her hair the way her peers do and I totally understand that. She's probably heard a million times that colouring her hair will be the death of it and that heat is the enemy so she's probably struggling with that and not everyone can just throw on a wig when they want to switch it up (who is willing to fund a 16yr old's wig habit, probably not her mom). My advice to her would be to do it anyway, I've been there, it's fun and it grows back.

Natalie Eila: the first video made me so sad, but I’m glad that the comments under this vid and this vid too is praying and being supportive towards her cause there’s nothing more sad that people putting down someone who is already feeling self hate. Happens too much

Golden: My daughter's friend lives with us and she has 4c hair. She keeps talking about not liking her hair, wishing it was more wavy instead of curly, etc. It makes me really sad for her because her hair is beautiful the way it is, but society has pushed and pushed for only one style of hair as acceptable to the point that kids feel like their own natural hair isn't good enough. I've been watching YouTube videos and trying to help her with her hair since 2014 and still working on trying to show her how to do natural styles that look great for her hair type. I'm thankful for people like you who make 4c hair videos. Thank you.

Meghan Lyons: I have always thought 4c hair is so beautiful. I love watching these videos. You all impress the hell out of me with the work you put in. The first lady broke my heart.

Brittney Smith: When I first started embracing my natural hair in high school you were one of the first YouTubers I watched and related too. I completed agree with curating your feed because you and other YouTubers showed me that it is possible to love and embrace our natural hair.

oLynxXo: As someone with super straight hair I don't envy your wash day routine. It takes me ten minutes to wash my hair and if I'm lazy I just let it airdry. Mad respect for you ladies.

Musa Viki: The vid @9:25 that's called the African threading method. I grew up with my mom doing that to my hair, both when relaxed and natural. Like if we couldn't get my hair braided or whatever we temporarily put in what we call them "mabhanzi". So you'll find a lot of people here doing that. There are even styles we do with them, so like thin ones that criss cross and yah

ItzYahaira: Yes: The Journey can be… •Accepting the time is takes to go out and get the products you need. •Learning to feel when your hair needs a dusting vs a trim. •Learning what tv shows or songs get you through the 4+ hr protective hair style you have to do start braiding or twisting post 1+ hr wash routine. Etc. Natural Hair Care is an Act of Self Love

Michele A: On a good day my 4c hair wash day is 3 hours: prepoo, shampoo, deep condition/detangle, and style. I've just learned to accept it.

SilverHairSimmer: Sending so much love to the first woman. I hope she finds balance in appreciation of straight hair but embracing her hair texture.

WilindasBeautyRoom: Loved the video, to clear up the texture question. Texture refers to how thick or fine the actual hair strand is. Type 4 doesn’t always have to be coarse meaning thick hair stands. Some of us like myself have tight coils but fine stands. Resulting in a fine texture. Then density plays a part in how full our hair looks. You can have a head full of fine stands that are tightly coiled resembling a “coarse look” according to what society labels us but honestly mainly ppl from spanish and Asian descent with straight textures are the ones with coarse thick actual hair stands. Ppl confuse coarse with dense a lot

Vicky Bagley: I’m at the point of getting an attitude at true 4c’s because I swear there are some 4d’s out here. I’m a 4d…

Ashiya Whitley-Shaw #VeganAthlete: I am laughing, because that point at 6:28 where you said that her hair was so juicy was only JUST now relatable to me. The last time I got my hair washed, deep conditioned, and twisted, the young lady that was doing my hair kept saying that my curls were “SO juicy”.

Elisia's Evolution: I'm 4C I have locs but when i was a loose natural the struggle was really tbh, straight hair is forced on us so much... I love my hair more every day!!

Shalom Lyrics: Exactly chizi. I feel the reason why a lot of naturals believe that wash day is stressful is because we've been conditioned to think so. It doesn't have to be. For me,.I don't even have to do that every week. The onky time I spend hours on my wash day is when it's loose which is like one week ina whole month. So, I oiterally do that just once in a month and i don't find that too much. I put my hair in protective styles and when they are in P.S...wash day doesn't take as long as i doc more on shampooing my scalp and there's no detangling too.

Corletta Madison: I never understood 3c, 4c, or whatever until you explained it. I know I have fine hair and when I decided to go natural in 2012 my stylist was like your curl pattern is already there. I was like...okay. The only reason I went natural was because my stylist before her told me I had no business getting relaxers because it takes at least three weeks before it looks relaxed. My hair would curl up with a fresh relaxers lol.

Valerie J: You are stunning. Perfect skin too. I’m Irish/German. People (strangers/relatives) would tell me things like “You need to get a tan.” “Are you sick?…your skin is so deathly pale.” “You’ll stick out like a sore thumb on the beach.” “You need pantyhose because your legs are too pale to be bare.” I also have natural, curly red hair and people would touch it without asking first…like I was being petted for having red hair. ‍♀️ So bizarre. It’s given me great perspective and I’ve always loved skin tones/hair textures across the spectrum for that reason. I also have a huge thing about maintaining personal space…probably because of the strangers petting my head. If someone touches my hair now I’m probably going to slap their hand for possibly messing up my curl pattern. ☺️

Shamara B: I remember wanting to be white just so I didn't have to go through such a long process of doing my hair after washing it. For example going swimming with friends and not being able to go to the movies or mall right after because I had to wash, detangle, blow-dry, moisturize, and straighten beforehand. I felt bad that everyone always had to wait on me.

Kennedy Weaver: That first video was jarring and made me so sad.... I hope she can surround herself with people that make her realize her natural hair is beautiful. Like damn I wanna give her a hug

Valentíno Quiñones: first girl made me sad...I get it walking down the. street seeing everyone with straight hair (whether it be natural or blown out/straightened) BUT then I realize how unique my hair is. even within out community each of our hair texture and porosity is all different.

Janelle Clydesdale: I love these videos! anything to help educate me more on black beauty!!

Renee Reed: Thank you Chizi...you keep inspiring me to stay natural.

Steph Tom: I think hair length has a lot to do with how long because even before I got into the deep conditioning and all that washing my hair was a task because of length and volume. My curls are mix so I don't have a set type

JustKenn: The last girl has thin density, coupled with tight coils. I think that’s why some 4c looks different than others bc of the density. So a thick 4c is gonna look different than a thinner 4c. I also believe there are more curl patterns than are listed from that chart.

Toni Martin: I actually feel very similar to the girl in the first video. Not because I don't think 4C hair is beautiful. I am just D O N E with dealing with it. It's time consuming and it fights back. I hate my hair, not because I don't think it can be beautiful. And I genuinely don't think there's anything wrong with wishing for more manageable hair. No one wants to have to spend that much time on their hair. I love curls and would prefer a looser pattern, but if someone gave me the choice for bone straight hair vs what I have now (without damaging chemicals) I would do it in a heartbeat. In a heartbeat.

Janet Mecham: I can’t imagine what that poor first girl must feel like. I remember growing up with curly hair (and I’m not Black, so even my “curly” hair is straight by their standards, but still) and like literally ALL my friends had what I felt was beautiful, human, straight hair. Like it could rain, or even be a little humid and they all still looked human to me while me on the other hand looked like a dang poodle. That was my negative perception of myself growing up simply because none of my other friends had my kind of hair! It wasn’t until I was about 12 years old that I met a girl (my best friend now) who actually had curly hair too and who knew/shared my sentiments towards our hair. Now that I’m an adult, much of that insecurity has gone away, but there are still days depending on the weather where I feel like a poodle.

__Panda__: While I am not black, I have type 3C curls. Mind you I’m the only one in my family who has curls. My mom couldn’t do my hair and would just put it a ponytail. I didn’t love my hair till I started learning how to care for it. I love watching these reactions cause she speaks truth about loving our hair. I only wish I had this guidance when I was growing up

Jennifer Gelowitz: Texture definitely makes a difference. Course vs silky (and everything in between) requires different care and attention.

Morgan dentelle: My niece is half Nigerian and her hair is like 3c/4a hair and her dad isn’t around so me and my sister have watched 100s of videos, taken her to salons that specialise in Afro hair which by the way was hard to find where we live and it’s disgusting that all hair salons are not trained in ALL hair types, anyway we tell her that her hair is absolutely beautiful everyday, we respect it, we are careful, we educate with books and try to submerge her in as much Afro culture as we can. She’s 4 and she comes up to me and asks me if I think her braids are beautiful because she does…my heart is so happy for her because it must be difficult in a predominantly white family to see those differences. I’d be heart broken if she ever said she didn’t want her hair any more and wanted ours. The world is cruel. All of your Afro hair types are gorgeous, like your skin and your features…you’re all beautiful and curse those who have ever told you otherwise

Paula: I remember when I was 16 my stepmother told me I had to straighten my hair to "look decent" on my ID picture and she took me to her sister's salon and they put lots of chemicals and I wasn't really happy about it but went with it for years just cause I had internalized that I wouldn't look "decent" with my natural hair.

Joyce Galugbo: Texture refers to the diameter and thickness of each individual strand of hair. So in my case, I’m 4c but my hair strand is very narrow and fine. My hair looks thick due to curl pattern.

Clint Denman: Hair texture is indicated by the diameter of a single hair strand :) The larger the diameter the more course, because it has more layers of cuticle that change the texture of the hair.

Charity: For me, i have to remind myself that my hair is most likely forever short lol and i just gotta keep accepting that. I’ve always been around black women with long thick big natural hair. They could literally do anything to their hair and it’s perfect. But me? Lol no. I could be upset about it but instead i just do what i want with wigs and all that. My hair is safely healthy growing in protective styles. If it’s out i pull it out slowly messing with it lol

Kieu-Linh Caroline Valverde: Thank you for this!!!! You're beautiful and my daughter can look up to a proud, smart, charasmatic woman like you.

AG Anderson: I’m over here with 2b ( I think) hair and religiously watching these videos. I can’t relate to the long wash days but all these curls are so pretty.

Froggie XOXO: Even tho im white, it still makes me rlly rlly rlly sad to see people of color not comfortable being theirselves :( yall are so so so so so so so so so so so so beautiful!! much love❤️❤️❤️❤️

Fidget gizmo: The self hate is real for people with straight hair too, I have been studying natural hair for about a year now, but I just have plain straight, it just makes me heartbroken

Nicky Blackford: The denman brush makes me love wash day now, it makes it sooo much easier and it helps with shrinkage a lot

Kellum: 1.5-2 hours would be amazing for a wash day! Mine take 5 hours mainly because my hair always gets so tangled and knotted that no amount of product can help detangle my hair and I have to pull hair out strand by strand to avoid having to cut it

AfroSamurai: Sending positive vibes and thoughts to that young person in the first video. ☀️

CiErra Liggins: Wash day for me is about 3- 4hrs. Washing my hair, conditioning, and styling takes at least 4hrs. When I go to the salon it’s not much different.

Prebella Prebella: I hate to say this...I felt like the first young lady...most of my life ...now it's all about self love ❤

Hadassah Hector: Chizi, I think I enjoy this hairstyle so much on you lately that I think I miss half of the content of your videos cuz I'm just thinking, wow that is adorable. I don't think I would ever get tired of it on you.

Nicki Fromange: whats funny is that its a trend and everyone wants it, until they have it. the amount of times i have went to a braider and been denied service due to my 4C hair that is 'too coily' or 'too kinky' is insane. took me a week to find a good braider in my area who would take my hair.

pilluche: i really felt that first tiktok, truth is tho, you can do so many amazing and beautiful hairstyles with curly/coily hair that would just not work (or at least look totally different) with straight/wavy hair, we just dont show them enough so we end up obsessing over olf cuts and whatnot. im growing out my hair right now and am learning how to treat and style it, since i dont have anyone in my direct family with the same hairtype, it's been a learning process but just keeping it short isn't doing it for me anymore

CareBear: I am now 15 years old but I remember when I kid like particularly my whole childhood, I hated my hair. Every single family member of mine commented on how tough and terrible and hard it was to do and it made me truly hate my hair. Even when I got my hair straightened it would poof up and just make me feel like a laughing stock. But when I was 13 I shaved my head. Started from scratch and learned to love and to do my own hair. Now it's healthy and I am truly proud of myself for learning self love so young.

Traeannah Brown: Absolutely agree with the music to think of it more as a self care routine! Also I think of my wash day as long because i don't consider it complete until my hair is styled and dry, sometimes that could take all day since the majority of the time I don't use heat to dry my hair.

Africasfinest21: yaaaasssssss skin and hair!!!!! you've perfected your signature style, Chizi. kudos :)

Ruthanne Marie: That first video hurts even me as a white girl with curly hair… I’ve been struggling for a long time wanting “stereotypical white hair girl hair” for my entire life especially with the new wolf cut trends. It’s so frustrating to look different from the people around me (I grew up In and still live in a predominantly white area full of people with straight light hair and I have thick black curly hair) I can only imagine how much more frustrating it is to be the only black kid in the room and feeling out of place compared to everyone else :( Poor kid I hope she feels better

Emma Haley: I know this is off topic and doesn’t relate to the video, but I just wanted to say how gorgeous you are! I’m not sure how you do your skincare, but your skin is glowing!!

Falcon: I both love and hate wash day cuz I just love having clean hair and having my brush go through my detangled hair but I hate the thought of having to get started and then spending the next 2-3h killing my arm. Once I'm done I don't even wanna do anything but lay down all day.

NoirNRougeNuit: Let's be transparent... When I used to get a relaxer I spent 2-3 hours in the hair salon. That's someone else doing my hair... she's on the phone, having convos with other people, stopping to check someone else etc. So the time used to do a natural wash and go isn't really more time. It's just not wanting to do the work ourselves.

Kate W: The Denman isn’t for detangling! It’s for styling. I have fine 3b/c hair and I detangle with a tangle teaser and then the denman to style and it gives perfect ringlets that last for days. It makes my wash day take a lot longer than just normal plopping but it’s a game changer!

Myzapanda: Nbs I remember the first time I straightened my hair (in an all white school) and someone was like whoa what happened to your hair and I was like.....wym??? (I generally wore braids but I was honestly like idk wtf your talking about). N she was your hairs always gross and "nappy" and a mess ... I just walked away I was like yooo WTF... my hair being natural was disgusting but being straightened was "neat" and "kept".

V F: its so interesting that the hair "shrinks" so much, you could have short hair one day and then the next day style it differently so that it looks like twice as long almost! :)

Elyse W: Honestly this stuff is hard to handle and not for the faint at heart. I have accepted that I like my natural hair but I'm good off it most of the time. I am texlaxed rn and to be real honesty I like it way better. Mt 15 yo loved her natural hair and I am ecstatic that she does! We have always celebrated hair in a positive way! I asked her if she wanted a relaxer and she looked at me like i lost my damn mind lol.

Tiggy Piggy: I was an out door kid and got very tan and it was sad to see my family say my sister was really pretty bc she was light skin and I was tan, it did affect my life bc I started to hid indoors to get my skin light, as I got older and I saw videos about loving yourself I grew to love my self no matter what I looked liked and was happy to enjoy the outdoors once more^^ and my favorite place is the ocean .

potatopotatoe: Watching her define her hair was cool. I just know my thick ass hair would puff up even as i run water through it‍♀️ it's too much!

Neve Hughes: everybody's hair is beautiful. period. Also everybody's hair has struggles, some types of hair more than others, but it in no way means that one hair type is better than another. I am white and I have long, straight type 1 hair, so I can't speak for anyone else who has a different hair type or ethnicity than me, and can only talk about my personal experience. For me, actually washing my hair is pretty simple and quick, but it gets greasy within 2 days so every 2-3 days I have to wash it. I also have basically no volume or body to my hair so unless I do something to it like blowdry it or curl it, it just lays completely flat against my face and looks lifeless (I also have to use a lot of product to get it to stay nice because otherwise the volume or curls will just fall out in like half an hour). I've always wanted to have curly hair so I could have some volume to my hair without having to put any in myself and I think personally that curly hair is more interesting than straight hair. But I've also grown to like my hair as I've grown and I know that I am privileged that my hair type has never been unaccepted by society and I don't have the same struggles as some of my curly-haired friends and darker-skinned friends have (including I have never felt any societal pressure to manipulate or change m hair). I love all hair types and I think everyone's hair is beautiful, I basically just wanted to give my experience as someone who doesn't have curly hair <3

Nero Diamante: I look forward to the day when we no longer describe our hair using negative words. Words matter in relation to manifestation. NO to coarse NO to kinky NO to nappy NO to undefined!! No other people denigrate their hair in this damaging manner. We didn't start the programming, but we have to definitely be the 1s to end it forever. Black Girl Magic

Nnenna Nwagbo: You should do a video about the L.O.I.S system. It takes the hair texture and curl pattern in consideration. I first her about it from LaToya Ebony. Definitely more specific then the number tying system!

Shannon Griffin: The girl blowing drying her hair gave me life that stretch was no joke the 1st girl I hope 1 day she learns to love her skin and hair that hurt to watch

R W: Taking care of your hair, especially with an in depth routine can be bonding time with yourself. It should be a relaxing and happy time with you taking care of yourself.

Kamila Sousa: I have a very dry and fine 4a hair. My mom hated my hair. I always do progressive straightening because I think it's easier to take care of. But now I'm pregnant and I'm actually thinking about leaving my hair in its natural shape and cutting the straightened part.

Simone: I wish there was more representation in mainstream media. Kids need to see people that look like them being celebrated.

Lat R: honestly, I have learned to spread my wash day out over the weekend. Friday night detangle and section with twists, Saturday wash, add product and twist to dry then sunday style.

К. Илья Магомет: @7:25 THANK YOU, for talking about the actual texture of the hair Types. I feel that no one talks about this... My hair for instance is 4b/4a (size of curl) but the texture (how the hair feels and appears) is smooth, silky, and very shiny, yet thick and strong (when looking at 1 single hair strand). My texture being this way cause it to visibly look different when it's styled. For instance, when my hair is straightened it looks like a have a relaxer or it straightens rather textureless. However, some other people with type 4 hair find that when they straighten their hair it has a yaki or textured finish. This is hair texture at work and has little to do with curl pattern size (in this case). However, the looser the curl pattern naturally is, the more natural straightening appears....

Jaqentiline Henderson: Thank you so so much for going into more detail about hair typing. You’re the first one, who I’ve come across, that has ever explained it this way!!!

Mariana Amoedo: With my thin patience I admire all of those who delicately detangle their hairs and moisturize it to make it gorgeous again.
