Everything from curly hair care, to acne prone skin tips, to current events and what we can learn from them! Sorry not sorry, you’re my family now, enjoy your new home!

Hi guys is Lana here and today I am going to be doing a clean hair care routine for curly hair. After my last video, I had a lot of requests to recommend some clean beauty products and I actually had a look through my own collection except a ton of products. Some of them are clean, some of them aren't, and I used most of them anyway, but for this video I'm just only focusing on like the clean ones, and I am going to show them to you. So what is clean Beauty? What does it mean? What does it mean for us? What does it mean for the planet? Clean Beauty honestly means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. Goop com defines clean Beauty as non toxic products that are made without harmful ingredients such as parabens, phthalates, PE G's, chemical sunscreens, synthetic fragrances, BHT PHA and carcinogens and endocrine disruptors. So carcinogens are those things that are known to cause cancer, including parabens, and endocrine disruptors, are what disrupt our hormones. All of the big voices in clean beauty will agree that fragrance is not an ingredient, and the reason for that is fragrance is known among regulators. As a trade secret, that means that companies don't need to disclose what is in their fragrances, and that can be anything and it doesn't even need to just relate to the set, but also the color and experimental elements like how the fragrance sticks to your skin. If that means, any number of harmful ingredients can be passing through under the guise of fragrance perfume, parfum or flavor. Some will say that clean beauty ends at the ingredients list, but there are some like at the good phase project who say that clean beauty also needs to be ethically sourced and made with the health of our bodies and the environment in mind. Others say that that's leaning towards green beauty, which is not necessarily the same as clean beauty and green beauty, means that the products need to be plant derived vegan, cruelty-free and eco-friendly and sustainably sourced. If you guys did watch my last video, then you might already be aware of the think dirty app. I downloaded it to my phone and I had a look through all of my products to see if any of them passed the think dirty out the test. I have a small collection of them that did so there'll be the ones that I'm using today. However, I did notice on the app some things were scoring a bad grade, even if they had say 20 ingredients that were really good, that scored really low, which meant that they're really clean and if they just had one ingredient that was like bad. It meant that they scored terribly, and I wasn't even looking at them because it would come up with like an eight and a lot of them actually scored much better. In my opinion, if you just kind of disregarded that, but it's completely up to you what you want to take on board or what you don't want to take on board, I also noticed down at the bottom of the app it basically wants you to take the Rankings with a grain of salt because they haven't been money - that's it, they haven't been like manually, reviewed they're, basically just going off the ingredients in the ingredients themselves. They'Ve had like on your review or something like that. So basically take whatever the abscess with the grain of salt. Don'T just look at the number and think that's bad. Make sure that you actually click on it, have a look at the ingredients and decide for yourself whether that's something that you want to continue using or not with all that being said, the products that I'm going to be using today all scored, really good scores. I'M gon na think dirty up, so let's go ahead and use them. The first thing that i'm using is shea moisture, pretty much everything will show moisture came up clean on the app which is so good. I was so thankful for that because so many of my favs came up dirty, so i'm using today wait. These are two conditioners. No, i need a shampoo. I am not doing the no poo method. I actually feel like it's quite dangerous to your scalp. Really ever do a no food, I'm usually using shampoos, so the Shea Moisture raw shea butter extra moisture retention shampoo, because my hair is dry and I've been up in the mountains. I'Ve been skiing, so it got even more dry. I hope it's not damaged. I'M going to be using this, which is for damage to transitioning hair. I hope that it's not going to be too strong for my hair up wormies that anyway, so this is no sulfates, no parabens, no phthalates, no paraffin, no mineral oil, no synthetic color, and for my conditioner I will be using the Shea Moisture, coconut and hibiscus shine. Conditioner I used to use this right to start of my curly hair journey. I could probably say that this played a big part in getting my hair to be back healthy and growing again. For some reason I stopped using it, and I literally only just discovered this in my drawer. While I was looking for clean products, I didn't even know that I had this still or that I had like a fresh bottle. I don't know how I didn't know that I had it and also I don't know why I only got the conditioner and not the shampoo, which is why I'm using the raw shea butter shampoo. If I had the shampoo of this, then I would use this. So this one is specifically for thick curly, hair, moisturize and cold defying again, it's sulfate free, paraben, free valet, free free mineral oil, free and free of synthetic color. It contains coconut oil, silk protein and neem oil and acai. Does this still smell? This still smells really good, like really good one does use fragrance and their fragrance is of essential oil blend. So that's what I'm going to be using today. So then we have these two products which come from innocence. This one is a dry shampoo, so I'm not gon na be using this today. So I'm just using the quiet, calm coal control. Today I actually used this before it smells like a lemon lemon tart like lemon curd, just kind of sweet, not too strong. Like the Shea Moisture. Scents are really really strong. This whole line pretty much all scored zeros on the think, dirty app. That means that that app considers these to be the cleanest of the clean okay. My hair looks like trash. This is a 10-day old braid out. I literally just woke up I'm breaking out and look a mess. Don'T come for me in the comments for the way that I look cuz that's mean I can handle it, though it's fun we're looking at crusty dusty musty mess, but we'll figure it out. So I like to keep my water on a medium temperature for my hair washes because I feel like if it's too hot it could dry out my scalp and cause irritation and dry up my hair. So I like to keep it just kind of lukewarm. Then I fully saturate my hair and I run my fingers through my hair just to make sure there's no pieces of blues hair or obvious tangles that could get in the way during shampooing. So then I go in with a shampoo. This is the extra moisture retention shampoo from Shea Moisture. I pour that onto my hand. I mean I try to, but sometimes I forget that there's a little coil cap inside so I got ta take that off because it's not gon na work. If I don't take that off, that's a note to myself, then I pour it onto my hand and then onto my scalp, and I work that in just form a little bit of a lather fees won't lather up as much as sulfate shampoo would. But they still do the trick and then I rinse it through making sure to kind of clean the rest of my hair as I rinse it out. Then I use my conditioner and sometimes they come with this little pump, and I don't know about you guys, but I don't like it. I'D rather use it without it. So I usually take that out and just pour it directly onto my hands my hand. I put it onto my hair. I separate my hair in two because I feel like that's just easier, and then I can also detangle using a wide tooth comb and when all of that conditioners in and all the pointy hair is too tangled. I usually just put my hair in buns like this. While I finish showering and just let my hair soak up all of that nutrients, I had my hair up like this for a little while, but now it's time to take it down, I need to apply my styling products, my leave-in conditioners, and that kind of thing. Okay, so the first thing that I'm going to use is a leave-in conditioner from flora and Karl now I tried searching for flora and curl on the think dirty app, but it didn't show up and that's another thing. I want to say about that app that if that's what you're using to determine whether your products are clean or not, then just remember that some products aren't even going to be on their database at all. But I've had a look through and I can't see anything in this ingredients list that would be considered dirty according to the app and they only have natural fragrance pretty much all of it is plants like we have yelling ylang we have calendula Rose. This is clean enough for me. You may have noticed. I always take the lids on my bottles, because I don't see the point in them. This is more like a leave-in detangle and more so than a leave-in conditioner, but you're just gon na work. For me, the innocence, quiet, calm, cold control, a styling cream to boost and define colors, so I'm gon na brush that through to make sure that it's evenly applied. I like this brush because you can kind of do like the Denman style thing of just like kind of twisting it like this try and get the most out of your clothes and scrunch that up you see the difference like we got to do that with this Side now too, we're really gon na get the most out of the calls. Today, I'm just going to take my little microfiber towel here turban and I'm just gon na scrub, some of the extras extras', I'm gon na scrunch, some of the excess moisture out now that most of the moisture has been scrunched out of my hair moisture. But like now that most of the excess water has been scratched out of my hair. Now I'm gon na go in with some hair dryer action. Why did I say it like that? I'Ve got ta go in with the hair dryer. This is my hair dryer. That'S the hair dry by itself. It'S the dyson supersonic. I like this because it has like an inbuilt temperature control. I'M sure most hair dryers probably have some sort of inbuilt temperature control. I hope, but this one is obviously Dyson technology, so it just makes sure that it doesn't get too hot. It'S never gon na burn your hair. So I like that I'll put that on there it's got heat settings here, I'm going to switch it on. Okay. I think that was like a record time record. I think that was like a record time thing getting my hair dry, it's not completely dry, so I'm just gon na go and do my makeup and it should be done by then and then I can show you guys how this really looks. So I'm back there's a storm coming and it's getting real dark in my room even earlier than what I scheduled for so I'm gon na try my hardest to get everything dry. Otherwise, we'd have to change the lighting. That'S really gon na bug me, so I don't know if I'm gon na bother getting dressed today, there's already a storm starting, we'll see and you're gon na have to wait right into the end of this video to see. If I actually bother for a voter's. Take all the makeup off give up and call it a day. I was not able to find any information about any edge control. You know why away team at anything like that. For some reason, the information was not on think dirty app. I guess nobody has scanned out or input the information yet so I wasn't sure which edge control I should use. But then I came to think of it again and I thought you know what, even if there is a clean edge control for a fully clean hair tutorial, I'm just not going to use it. I just think when you're applying something to your scalp, that's like so thick and heavy and you leave it on all day and, let's be honest, a lot of us don't clean off the edge control at the end of the night. You know if you've got it all back here if you've done a hair, styling you're planning to keep it all week, do most of you realistically clean it after you shampoo on it, probably not like, even if you're just using water, it's gon na leave some residue And I feel like I've been noticing like thinning here, and I think the only thing that I use here is edge control, so something about the edge controls. You know it's blocking my scalp, it's not like it oxygen get through to it. It'S probably not getting a lot of nutrients, I don't know something's happening with the edge to grow up. If only I could speak, I'm gon na be very hard-pressed to find an edge control that is not only clean in formulation but also just to clean in general. For my scalp, in that sense, I'm just gon na leave it with no edge control. Today, oh I have some oil oil. Remember what I said about flora and Cole they're, not on the thing dirty app, but they are clean and they're just not on the app. So, maybe I'll add it to the app myself. I think that you can do that use some of this oil there's beautiful, beautiful oil just to lock everything in give me some added shine, oh and it smells so good. I have to admit my hair is not fully dry yet, but the Sun is disappearing and I need to film this part. This is the finished. Look, that's the routine. I really hope that you guys enjoyed watching this video and learned a few bits and bobs. If you guys want to see more videos like this talking about clean beauty, sustainable living, vegan and cruelty-free options, then I would love to make that for you, whether you are going to clean, beautiful yourself, clean beauty for the planet, clean beauty for the animals, whatever the Case may be, I support you in your journey journey. Why did I say it like? I'M like northern, I support you on your journey. I need to have some water cuz. My organs are currently making me for that. I got dressed. Yay thing can't feel soft. It feels moisturized, it feels good. It feels strong, Oh No, No

James Mark: The diva curl controversy has literally had me freaking out about all of my hair products... this video was something I needed to see after panicking about curly hair products:)

Sydney Nicole: It seems like everyone hates Shea moisture, but idc they are super clean and they’ve saved my hair on many occasions

Michaela Oren: I love Shea moisture's products but they always make my hair feel super dry. Even if they are supposed to be specially for Hydration. Anyone else have this experience?

Aaliyah Dailey: "Parfum" is a sneaky way of saying "fragrance", and another way for companies to sneak nasty things into their products

A L E X A: YOURE BEAUTIFUL WITH AND WITHOUT MAKEUP LANA!! AND YOUR SKIN LOOKS GOOD SO IF ANYONE HATES, TELL THEM TO DROP THEIR LOCATION AND I'LL PULL UP!!

Amethyst17: I recently noticed that Shea moisture sneaked a silicone in their products idk if it’s all products but it does have a PG “” (cant remember the whole name but it does have a iol at the end of the name) after one of the proteins in the coconut hibiscus conditioner the PG is water soluble so it can wash off with water so thank goodness for that. Lol just letting y’all know if any of you are against any type of silicone

Sherre Copeland: I love this video! Thanks so much for doing it. I swear I thought I was the only one who requested it! I appreciate the time you put into it! Shea moisture was what I went to after DevaCurl. Apparently all the “clean” curly stylists don’t like Shea moisture b/c they say the Shea butter forms a barrier that doesn’t allow your hair to get nutrients...but idc...they’re cheap(ish) and I refuse to go broke just to get the cleanest product innersense (sp?). That being said, I’m glad you mixed them together and showed that they work together, so if I can’t afford all of it I can just get the curl cream.

A Daurey: Loved this video, please recommend more clean productssss!!! Love you, you are gorgeous!!! Loved that you filmed most of this video WITHOUT any makeup!! Imma fight anyone who says you are not beautiful!

Aleksandra Lempart: Touching your hair with diffuser actually creates frizz so try just hovering over your head with the diffuser instead. Using a brush to brush your hair distributes your products really well and gives you a scalp massage which is a great bonus.

Reservechic: You did such a truly excellent job with this video. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Laura Bonengel: 10:45 I felt that Also, curlsbot . com is a great site to check out products to see if they are curly girl approved. Even if you don’t follow the curly girl method, they’re pretty strict about a lot of ingredients and id like to think clean products are cgm approved. Although, I don’t think they take fragrance into account so it’s always best to just read bottles and do your own research as best you can ☺️

Daniela Naranjo: I made my own products Just to make sure they are absolutely clean and natural and my hair loooooveeee it ❤️❤️❤️

Marianellyy Diaz: Haha love this. Your hair looks beautiful. I don’t really ever do anything to my edges just put whatever product is left on my fingers and push them down. It work lol.

Natascha N.: Love your hair!!!! And yes more clean beauty products

ijwz_o: Can you do a fast school routine or or how to refresh your curly hair fast.

Ray Sarlie: I can’t let go of silicones... I’m afraid of trying someone new especially after my first use with Shea Moisture conditioner that left my hair broken and scalp burning

Lifeline Cruz: It's funny that shea butter stuff also started my hair being healthy! I stopped using it also because my hair got so healthy I wanted to try new things....and reminded myself I'm going to go get another bottle

The Caravan of Yah: I use aloe vera gel as my edge control and it works nicely! :) x

meet me in the hallway oopies: I have dead straight hair and I still watch all your curl videos because your hair is so beautiful

jiminieugotnojams _: Hey lana, I heard some good things about a gel called Jam, apparently it is very moisturizing, will you be able to do a review on it?

Derrick Jennifer Watkins: Your hair turned out so pretty!

Hope Sumandea: This is just what I needed!!!

Faith: I wouldn't bother with think dirty at all skin charisma and cosdna it much better since you can input the ingredients yourself and skincarisma breaks it down for you ( comedogenic rating, if it will trigger fungal acne, if your product has any star ingredients ect)

Zarina Gurley: Great video! I'm trying to use cleaner products etc, and this video was further motivation to do so! Also, your hair is goals

genta kukaj: if you ever plan to purchase more shea moisture products i think the manuka honey and yogurt line is amaaaaaazing and smells so good and makes my hair feel like silk

Wave Embrace: Watch out for Shea Moisture!!! They are putting Polysorbate 60 a carcinogen in the Coconut and Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie. My hair is a 2c and the Methosulfate in the Shea Moisture Masque make my hair straight and frizzy. I know they like putting it in for people with 4 hair type to stretch out the hair, but it is not good for looser curls, it gives a mild "DevaCurl" horrible effects to wavy hair.

Alexandra M.: More clean beauty videos would be awesome I'm trying to be clean in all aspects, like hair, make-up, lotions, and other things

Madison Mackenzie: Bless you for this I needed this so bad

jiminieugotnojams _: Doing a lana Summer marathon

Honeydew Uwu: I'd love to know what clean shampoo works great for a oily & flakey scalp. it's always the scalp that needs the cleanest products.

Firdows Kruger: Love and greetings from Pretoria, South Africa. "Non-Toxic" hair routine? Hint-hint! I am rolling on the floor with laughter...I am loving the title. Keep up the good work. Love your channel

G L: I use Jamaican black castor oil as edge control because it’s sticky and natural but it’s not going to hole like the normal edge controls it’s a natural looking edge look you get

Sacha Abreu: You guys you can add a small amount to the scalp of shampoo and then a little on the rest of the hair it will be like half of the half of what she used. Your shampoo will last a long time!

b Jennifer: Beautiful hair!!!

Abigail R Matambo: I was watching a video today about Jamaican black castor oil and some people use it as a natural edge control also

Simulation One: All women need to embrace clean beauty for our health so many carcinogenic products we absorb through our skin! That’s why big companies have to test on animals for side effects

Ateina A: Great video as usual......really loved the infos about clean products... thanks for the help Darling...

Megan Rissolo: Thank you for making this video, I was looking for some clean hair products to use!!!!!!!

Kk_ Klaudia: I love your channel x❤️

Rayann Osman: YOUR HAIR IS GOALS ❤️❤️

Ysxydx: Heyy~ I have a question have you tried any of the ogx products and are they good ?

Lady Snow: Innersense ruined my hair. It made my hair fall our and damaged it to the point I have no curl anymore.

pamelaherbin: What if you make a flax seed edge control it would lay edges without the dirty products?

Chloe J. Comhaire: I'm going to start with the unpopular opinion....almost every single product on "clean beauty" lists are not actually clean. And most cosmetologists don't know what they're talking about when it comes to products. If you want truly clean products do the research yourself. Google ingredients and read the full page articles about what each one does to your body. Don't take just 1 person's word on it and don't read just 1 article. The cleanest non toxic products you can find are on websites like etsy or in your local natural food store ie: make it yourself. Shea moisture has PEGs, among other very bad ingredients. Do your research.

Melissa Hdz: I highly suggest everyone to go and watch Kenna's video "DEVACURL | A biochemist's prospective" highly informative

Georgia N: I’m thinking of making my ig about curly hair care! Love your channel Ig: georgianneka

Patty Urrutia: Do u follow the CG rules? Are shea moisture silicone free?

Beza Baye: Do you use anytype of oil for hair growth?

1909Ghost: We have the same hair texture

Dee Luther: Good Video LaNa Stunning thumbnail tho Absolutely Pretty Ur makeup so nice Hope u enjoying your bless WeeK

Angelina: Me: Having the most flat hair and looking curly girls hair routine

Shirin Asenova-Ilyazova: Yeah also same products Shea moisture coconut shampoo score different scores... Seems like one of the duplicated entries was missing ingredients and scored better

Barbara B: but why does the newer bottles of shea moisture contain PERFUME instead of ESSENTIAL OILS as FRAGRANCE ?!?!?!? i am so confused on this debate

Lexy Mears: I suggest you watch Dr. Dray's video on clean beauty. Please do peer reviewed research!! "Unclean" products arent toxic! Its about concentrations. Everything can be toxic in high enough amounts. For example, You need preservatives in products that you put on your scalp to inhibit growth of bacterial and fungal growth on your scalp that can contribute to flaking, irritation, and even hair loss. Parabens are the one of the least irritating preservatives we have.

Tazzie1312: "Clean" is a meaningless word.

Christina: Thank you

Arianator a: Some of the products were clean but had bad reviews. Idk what to do

simplyxxjade: LUV U SO MUCH GIRLY!!

babyprincess3121: I absolutely hate the pumps on the conditioners.

Aleah B.: I know Shea Moisture is good to go!

Sincerely, Jii: For all the fellow Germans watching A great German app to check your products is CodeCheck

You know BTS?: 10:44 I like how her inner army jumped out for a sec

Ashley Nicole: What app or web you use to know about what the products have ??

ShiyanAdore: Yes I hate when people do no poo and think they are doing their hair good. Your not you need to wash your scalp and hair.

Peta Ann: love non toxic hair care

Ashley Banks: Do you feel a difference in your hair, with all clean products as apposed to just any old thing lol

Candy M: Whats your hair type any porosity? Thank you

Noe: Mac Green Alchemy has a clean edge control!

Uglješa: You used a leave in, why? Hair is already detangled with the conditioner. I use leave ins only when blow drying hair. I just think the less product the better hair. Also the oil at the end, but when i saw the shine :) Nice :) Lovely hair.

megan rebooshki: I really urge you to watch Dr. Dray’s videos about clean skincare and products.

n a i l a h: hey could u possibly do an innersense review

solo_loba: What's the song you're playing when you get in the shower?

Pragati Singh: I have 2C hair and after a point my hair doesn't grows :(

Elisa Rosina: I love this video

Iulani_ices: What brush is that ?

Shaheera Kamaruddin: So far the things I've used that scored bad in think dirty are just dirty

Jen Lewis: Excited for a new video, then I see goop lol.

Sophisticated Beauty: All this clean beauty talk but the water we use is recycled and isn’t truly clean. If only everyone would use clean products and maybe we wouldn’t have these skin and hair issues.

Sarah ald: What's the app name?

Some Bicycle: Try Environmental Working Group Skin Deep Cosmetics Database. It is a good alternative to Think Dirty.

Ebony: I died when I heard Jimin's voice

ItsNoonz: Had to subscribe for that little Jimin moment.

Brianna Rodriguez: I’m early!!!!!! :D

NS: The shade in the title thooooo

Fine Curls: Here

Jazzzzz: Oh, goop... oh no lol

Anastasia: PLEASE TURN OFFF THE WATER :((( makes me so sad
