So why are you deep conditioning it because he saw on the internet, that person was doing it and she does it once a week and we're just supposed to treat her hair once a week. What even is a deep conditioner. However, I know what I need all right: everybody allow me to formally introduce myself, I'm Mel, also known as your main girl, Mel, also known as Maine's by Mel and with this channel. I try to bring you guys, fun funny and informative information all about the hairs, and lately your questions have been all about lead conditioning, I'm seeing it everywhere. You guys have asked in the comments of my youtube videos. You have asked on my pians and my comments on instagram. You have questions about deep conditioning, let's get right into this video, because you guys asked - and I am here to answer by the way this is a day to hear oh and also by the way, outfit details, our brand new merch. By now, what you're looking at here is some of my number-one fan art and then words that I love to live by little big of a half the holidays. Anywho. If you like this t-shirt design, you can get this below. So if you need to, I encourage you to take notes and without further ado, let's get to it. So what does it take to make the hair happy, because healthy hair is happy, hair and happy hair is a happy you. Our first question is: what exactly is it, what the hell is a deep conditioner? How is it actually different from a regular conditioner or a leave-in conditioner or a mask? What'S the difference, and is there a difference, I will inform you that there is in fact a difference between a deep conditioner and just a regular conditioner or even a conditioner that you can leave in. However, the main difference about a leave-in conditioner is that it works deep and the name suggests for the hairs that need much more further treatment. There are intensive treatments to work even further on extremely dry and or damaged hair. So, just a couple of deep conditioners that I like to keep on hand, are these guys because they're, budget-friendly and they're excellent, this one is the jamaican black, castor oil, strengthening one, so it has protein in it. It'S going to help the strength in your hair, great for processed color, treated, damaged hair, and then this one is the manuka honey and mafura oil, which is more on the deep moisture treatment. So I switch it up. I use accordingly depending on what my hair is asking me for, so if what you're asking is, if you can use a regular conditioner instead of a deep conditioner too deeply conditioned - and I know you are asking that because right here you did, the answer would be. I mean - maybe I'm not gon na lie. Sometimes I just use my regular conditioner and leave it in for a longer extended period of time, while I'm doing other things just to give my hair a little bit more hydration. But I do that if I don't really need a whole ton of extra conditioning again, keep in mind that deep conditioners work deep and they are intense and if you don't really need intensive treatment, then leave your regular conditioner on a little bit. However, it is not quite the same as deeply treating your hair with a deep conditioner simply because there are two different types of products offering you two different types of things which leads me into my next question. A lot of you wonder: how often should I be deep conditioning my curls well, who are you asking me for? I can't tell you that I cannot tell you that, because I don't have your hair, I can't see your hair. I can't diagnose a treatment for you. If I don't know what your hair type is like, so this is when we're all gon na step back and evaluate our own hairs needs, and I'm also going to pause and plug my protein versus moisture video, how to determine what your hair needs based on, how It'S looking and feeling and then regularly assessing your hair to determine what is hungry for hungry, thirsty. Our hair briefs doesn't breathe, but it's living. It'S not living it's dead, but we make it look healthy by conditioning it, but because everyone's texture and situation is unique. For example, in my case, my hair is naturally high porosity now not naturally um, but it is a high porosity because I chemically treat my hair. I use bleach to make it lighter. So I can shine like a sunflower now. My curls don't necessarily like the bleach, but I keep my hair healthy by deep conditioning it and treating it with what it means. Now. Let me give you another scenario, because my hair is chemically processed and I've kind of worked away at the cuticle in order. For me to keep my hair strong, I need to fortify it with protein, so for me, I regularly cycle protein products into my routine to keep my hair healthy and strong, and here we are with happy curls. Nonetheless, now, let's spice up this scenario, I typically only washes down my hair 1 to 2 times a week. So let's say I deep condition it 4 or 5 days ago. Deeply conditioned it and my hair still looks and feels ok like it feels. Ok, I do my elasticity test and everything seems ok. I do not need to do another deep conditioner, but if my hair did feel really dry and was breaking, I would assess the situation and treat it as you would with a deep conditioner everyone's knee you're, going to be very different. As you are getting to know. Your hair, if you are new in your journey, you need to pay attention to what it means. Maybe setting up a regular schedule where you were alternating and using multiple deep conditioners will benefit you, but if your hair is naturally soft shiny, doesn't give you any problems? You don't need to deep conditioned very often. Maybe all you need is a little extra love from your regular conditioner a little longer and then every once in a blue moon. You do a little self care treatment and do a deep, conditioner. Okay, now keep all of that in mind, because you do not want to condition your hair too much. Oh yeah, I said it and I meant it you can actually over conditioned the hair. There is such a thing as too much conditioner. Okay, one thing that is very very very very very very important is that you actually read the label yeah use what your mama gave you I'm going to now speak for every brand that is created a product. Please use as directed okay if they're telling you to rinse thoroughly after 30 minutes then do that if you are not properly following the directions, then don't get mad. If the outcome isn't, as expected, you may have done everything right treated your hair as it needed to be, but you went too hard. Sometimes we overdo it a little bit. We get a little crazy thinking that this is good. This is gon na be even better and then in the end, our results are not quite as expected. We went overboard so now to answer your question about the steps of deep conditioning. I do advise to wash your hair before a deep conditioner so that I can really just absorb into your hair, because no buildup is in the way. Again, I advise you to read the directions on the label. There are hundreds of thousands that's a lot. There are many many many many many many many many there's a whole bunch of deep conditioners on the market, all kinds of different budgets. They are all unique and they all have different directions so follow them. So after dampening your hair or drying it off a little bit, you're going to be applying your deep conditioner now again, keep in mind I mean every treatment is different, but most of these deep conditioners are formulated for the hairs, so you want to avoid putting them On your scalp, there are specific treatments for the scalp, which is skin, so you want to put skin care on your scalp and leave the hair care for the hairs and then, depending on how thick your hair is, you may want to section it off just so. You can get a little bit more thorough, always always start with your ends. Well, not all it's not if you're diffusing, but if you're putting on a deep conditioner the driest parts of your hair aren't going to be your ends because they've been on your head, the longest they've been through the most amount of damage. So that's where you want to focus at first and then, as you work it through work, your way up try to stay off your roots, especially because those are typically healthier. They really don't need very much treatment once it's applied on, I like to detangle and then, depending on how long the mask is supposed to sit in, you can always twist your hair, do simple two strand twist and then wrap it up and clip it away, and Since you asked, if you should use heat, he's absolutely not necessary when you're doing treatments, sometimes it can help to soften the hair a little bit so it can absorb moisture in. But if you are using heat with a deep conditioner, do not leave the deep conditioner on for as long and many of the directions also usually state that, if you're using heat it should be on for less amount of time, so kind of accelerates the process which, If you're short on time, then that could be a good thing. Look, it's probably not going to kill your hair if your deep conditioner says to leave it in for three minutes and you leave it in a little longer. But there is a bit of a rule of thumb. I would advise not deep conditioning your hair for any longer than about thirty minutes. Thirty is usually the maximum that many deep conditioners state. There are some deep conditioners that do stay. You can go longer. Some advise you to work overnight, but here's the thing if your hair spends a lot of time in moisture if it is constantly hydrated and it is deeply hydrated, you are almost going to overfill the hair, which is going to swell the cuticle, which will then affect Your porosity and your texture, and it will lead you to develop high growth but ehm. What the hell is that to quickly explain in a nutshell, hydro fatigue is damage done to the hair and hair cuticle due to excessive, moisture, deeply penetrating and going in and out of hair. That is now very porous and swollen and extremely soft and gummy and with very poor elasticity, because in the first place you didn't actually need to deep condition, or you probably really should not have deep condition for 48 hours. When the hair mask, you are using told you to leave it in for 30 minutes and rinse. If you are doing something, you don't need to be doing or doing it wrong. You may not only be wasting your time and valuable goods, but you may also be making things worse for your hair. You see what I mean by doing too much and if you guys have more questions about hydro fatigue, then leave them below and maybe I'll create a whole nother video about it. But let's get back to deep conditioning. So no, you should not leave a deep conditioner overnight unless it is stating that you should, in that case, follow the directions and if then, your hair has problems. Well, then you go after the brand now hold up. You might be a little bit confused because you're seeing other tutorials and some people are putting deep conditioners on dry hair instead of wet hair. So am I supposed to wash first and then put on damp hair, or do I put it on dirty hair and then wash it out? What'S the difference, why would I do what I guess I feel like? I sound like a broken record, but again you want to follow what the label is advising you to do, there's a difference between a hair mask and a deep conditioner. Now some deep conditioners might call themselves a mask and the treatment may just be a conditioner, so it gets kind of confusing and all the names are different. But if you think about a mask, usually with your face - you wash it off after there are some deep conditioners and some masks that are very heavy and they may instruct you to use them before a shampoo because they are so heavy. They need to be washed off after, but if they are not washed off after your hair may be weighed down so with most deep conditioners, as they are directing you to rinse thoroughly. When done some people that may not need the extra conditioning or perhaps have much finer hair that is easily way down, could use a very light little shampoo afterwards, so that they didn't go overboard for their hair type. Also something to keep in mind if the treatment that you are using is very oil-based. You don't want to put it on soaking, wet hair, because oil and water repel each other, so do use your products on slightly dried hair or just squeeze out all the excess moisture before you put on the deep conditioner so that it maybe doesn't water down too Much I'm not a fan of putting products on dry hair because I just find it so much harder to work through the hair. It'S much harder to evenly distribute and besides, the most hydrating thing for our hair is water and it's usually the first ingredient. In many of our products, savor it save with goods. Oh rad, let's see what the next question is. Well, here comes the ingredient police. Many of you are very afraid of some ingredients being in your hair products, and what I have to say to that is: you should probably just chill for a minute when a brand is making a product, they have zero intention on harming your hair. So, even though you are afraid to be using certain ingredients, they're likely in there to actually help you, so I know it's very confusing and it's because you don't really understand the chemistry of what goes into it and honestly, neither do I. I am NOT a chemist and I also just like to trust brands to take care of all the formulating. I really have no idea what it takes to put a product together, but luckily I do hi there, I'm scientific mail, bringing you the nitty gritty scientific of all things hair. Today we're going to get a little chemistry really quickly. There are ingredients in products for a reason, and I would have to say that approximately 90 % of all deep conditioners have the same 5 ingredients to start number. One you're gon na find aqua water purified. This pills, however aqua water is going to be the number one ingredients you want to see. Water equals hydration moving down the line and in no particular order, you're gon na find who sets your real alcohol. Now we're not trying to get your hair drunk satiereal. Alcohol is going to be very common ingredient found in your conditioners, because it is actually an emulsifier. It'S going to help you work that product distribute it through your hair. You may also see cetyl alcohol, which doesn't have the same role as satiereal alcohol, but cetyl alcohol is actually just another conditioning agent as well as you're, probably gon na see conditioning coils, then butters such as coconut oil, shea butter. These are very common and popular ones, and many deep conditioners have many pans of oils that they like to put in their conditioners like fig Europa lavaca do lavaca, don't I'm just kidding. Many of these oils are used in the product to help lock in the moisture. Remember oils are emollients now, there's also electives that we find in deep conditioners and ingredients. You may also find high up in your list is glycerine glycerine as humectant helps to draw moisture into your hair. So if your hair is very dry, it is going to bring the moisture in there like magic, except it's not magic, its science. Now some other emollients you may find in your conditioners may be silicones those silicones now before you ask a silicone may be placed in your deep conditioner because it is actually helping to improve manageability of your hair. The very dry cuticle attracts oils to its center and the very small refined silicones that you were finding in your ingredients are like oils to the hair, so they're gon na suck them up just like that, and they can help to give your hair strength as well As lots of shine now, we have a lot of moisturizing ingredients in the list here and we want to be able to balance that all out. So what do we do to balance out? Moisture yeah? Yes, yeah we need growth. Teen got ta eat the meat. I don't care if it's beyond meat or it's vegetable protein we got ta have protein in here, so you want to be looking out for hydrolyzed protein. There are many hydrolyzed proteins derived from vegetables that we can find in products as well as silk proteins. Collagen ingredients like these are going to help strengthen the hair that way you're getting a balance of protein and moisture. The protein is gon na help to strengthen your hair, so you can actually close the cuticle and lock in that moisture that you are feeding it and, of course the moisture is moisturizing back to you, Mel, okay, honestly scientific belt. I could not have said that better myself. Thank you for explaining. By the way I loved your shirt, see you girl, see you any who's. I think all the questions we have for today, except oh, wait. There'S one more coming in this one's from YouTube. This may seem like a silly question and many of you may be asking the same thing, which is new condition before a deep conditioner and what I say is save the product go straight to the deep conditioner, because otherwise it's gon na be redundant. You do not need to conditioned twice if you're deeply conditioning deeply conditioned if you're regularly conditioning do whatever just remember, to follow the instructions and to trust the ingredients that are in the products. I'M sure it's gon na be great, but really listen to what your hair is telling you, and that is how I keep these curls in tip-top shape. I hope that answers all your questions. I hope you guys learned a few things today. Thank you guys for tuning. In if you liked this video make sure to give it a thumbs up, if you know someone that really meets the deep condition make sure you share it with that friend and if you liked this t-shirt guys, this is my baby. Is me on a firkin shirt? You can get it if you like this design, there's much more merch by mail coming just click the link below this has been yet another. Informative Q & A with means by mouth, and I am out. Oh okay, take it easy. We got ta stay hydrated and our hair does to Conde. So Ned, are you ready? Let'S dive in

risanterry: Fantastic video as usual! Thank you! I’ve really been looking for answers about deep conditioning. Like a two-yr-old, I still have questions. Sometimes my hair feels more straw like, but I’m confused if it’s due to dryness or just so much product buildup on my 4th day hair. How do I tell the difference? Also, if everybody’s hair is different, how can the instructions for products be the same for everybody’s hairs? What does one do when the hairs must be speaking a different language? I’m clueless of what mine’s saying. Yes, please do the hygral...hydro..hy-whatever ... over moisturizing video.

Rebecca Peña: You have absolutely gorgeous hair. Yes, video on "scalp care" please.

Misty Nobrega: Mel, I LOVE IT. YOURE AMAZING. I have a question - I know you said (and it’s the general rule of thumb) to avoid the roots when applying conditioner. However, I have this section of hair on the crown of my head (exactly where the water hits my head from the nozzle) that always feels so much more hard and dry than everything else, so I always feel obliged to apply conditioner there. What would you have to say to this? Thanks for all of your help!!

Elizabeth Torres: I’ve been wearing my natural texture for the past 10 years but your videos have taught me so much and my hair has never looked better!

Morgan Miller: I would love if you made a video about hygral fatigue! I feel like my hair is really struggling lately and I've been wondering if it is over moisturized, but I can't be entirely sure. I'd also enjoy a scalp care video!!! Those are always helpful. Love you, Mell!

The Rasberry Patch: I’d love to find out what you think about Reverse Washing. I started RW months after starting CGM and it has been a game changer for my thin, fine, medium porosity waves. My hair was weighed down and greasy until trying RW. I’ve heard mixed reviews about the pH problems with RW and would love to hear your thoughts.

Josie Redekop: You should consider doing in-person classes for your fellow hairstylist! I go to you for all curly hair tips, I myself have around 2b type curls and only recently been letting it be curly. Being a hairstylist myself I'd love to teach my clients more about they're hair!

Marily C: Hi Mell , new subscriber here. I discovered your channel about a week ago and have been trying out your tips, techniques and product recommendations. I’m already loving the results and amazed at the difference.Thank you

Sunflower Baby: Best video ever. So much information in an easy to comprehend format & delivered in a hysterical manner. Loved it!

Hannah Parmley: Hi Mell. Rewatching this (with e deep conditioner in) as my hair has suddenly gone really dry (it’s always been naturally quite dry). Should I go back to washing my hair biweekly (just switched to weekly) to give more conditioner? Can you recommend a really moisturising leave in or curl cream to use under my gel (coconut free). Ps bring this shirt back, it’s super cute xx

Cassie Chenault: Can you do a scalp care video? I LOVE your videos!

Jake Baugh: Hi Mel, I'm 66 with that pesky natural curl all my life. I have stopped fighting the darn curls and am embracing them. Your videos are so helpful. My other thoughts are ~ girl, you could be the next Lucille Ball. Your wicked sense of humor, facial expressions, eye movements, voice, etc scream comic. Love watching and listening to you. The name with this post, well that's my husbands name, I am the woman of the family.....Cate

PurpleTyDye: Accolades!!! First off...you are the friggin bomb diggity and I'm sooooooo thankful that I found your incredible knowledge with your bada$$ entertaining personality! It makes all this learning fun! Second, huuuge respect and thanks to Amanda for hitting you two out of the park every week with all that she does behind the scenes! Third, I'm only 11 weeks into my curl journey...which started with me chasing the cuuuutest curls out of a drug store (um, yah, I totally did that, hehe) and heard the word DevaCut for the first time. Anyhoo...I'm trying to catch up on your vids...which has me bouncing all over your life, and hair lengths, so I need to tell you that your hair looks amazing in this vid!! Loving the length! You're a true testiment to what you teach! Fourth, keep it up and THAAAAAANK YOOOOUUUUU two cuz I'm still trying to figure out my curl type, perosity, moisture/protein balance, products & use, and you just blew my mind with the fact that I can cause my hairs to swell. This new curl life is confusing as h*ll but I'ma keep working! I'm going to switch from DevaCurl (well most) prods and just purchased Olaplex 4 & 5 and your 4 step styling prods (Aveda's Daily Remedy, DevaCurl's Frizz Free Volumizing Foam, Aveda's Be Curly Curl Enhancer & Aveda's Confixer gel). I also just got The Innate Life Scalp Treatment, Herbal Hair Mask and Rose Elixer plus the looped dry scalp massager brush and the wet scalp massager your seester turned you onto. Now me & my hairs just have to learn to understand each other & hopefully these help as my hair "sounds" like yours when you speak texture-wise (fine) and damage first every low light color app 11 weeks ago (grey's suck right before your wedding) on top of decades of not knowing about the importance of that squishy sound a.k.a. decades of dehydrated hairs plus I'm embracing diffusing for the first time. Totally crossing my fingers that my hairs get happy and healthy! Heck maybe some day I'll actually be able to rock that big hair shirt! You have been a blessing!!l! I'm totally YouTube stalking you for all your priceless info as well as cute as a button personality, LOL! Thank you again Mell and Amanda! Your team makes me giggle with every vid.

Mandy Taylor: I've been watching lots of curly videos and I just wanted to say I LOVE you! You keep things so fun while being informative at the same time! I wish I lived near you so I could have you work on my hair!

A. S.: I'm going on nights tomorrow and I stumbled upon your curly girl method video, I legit binged this channel until seven in the morning. You have an amazing personality that's why I subscribed but it's refreshing to find someone with your expertise. You inspired me to get back into fixing my hair and wearing it out more. Can you do a video on the best/recommend curling creams or?

Shelley May: I love how you explain everything. It's both informative and entertaining.

nikol madrid: hey mell, can you do a video about thin/fine hair??? I think I have thin hair and its very flat and limp and i'm not sure how to take care of it. Thanks ☺️

Mely-78: Add to cart and place order are my favorites hobbies every Tuesday . Thank you Mell for my beautiful (and still under construction) hair. Kisses from NY!

Shelby Broyles: Hiiii! First let me say I love you and your advice and have been following it since I started watching you. I have a quick question and this goes for everyone here also, my hair is virgin hair and a mix between a 2b and 3a but I notice that my top section (from scalp to about chin length) it gets very frizzy throughout the day but the bottom has a lot of definition. How do I fix this ? Help PLEASE

LeeAnn Chetty: You are amazing Mel! I don’t want to miss your videos!!! Keep doing you girl

T. H.: Mell, please show us what hair looks like when suffering through hygral fatigue (if that’s possible). The visual reference is so valuable!

Kaitlyn Pehrson: What do you suggest doing with hair during a workout at the gym? Is it possible to both keep it out of the way securely during and not have to wash/entirely re-wet afterwards?

Zazzy Bandz: You always highlight my day with your hair humor. Just love it. Melissa xo!

Ramaya Stowell: I have been using that verb brand that you recently mentioned in a past video and I am loving it, it has transformed my hair within the past 3 weeks of using it but I have natural soft hair to start with so when I use number 2 the mask I only leave it on my hair for 5-10 minutes and that seems to bee working best, but it's a game changer!

Zuzia: Was just looking through your videos to find the "deep conditioning" and HERE IT IS! That's it, I want your type of haircut, done. Now only finding someone capable... of doing that. I absolutely love your hair and your humor as well as professional information shaped in this enjoyable form. Sending my smile from across the ocean!

SissyWise: Please tell us more about hydral fatigue.

Krystle R: So grateful I found your channel! My hair is forever changed for the better!

Macy Hagan: Thanks for the info! I always wondered about applying deep conditioner to wet or dry hair and wasn’t sure if it was necessary to leave in a conditioner for more than 30 min. I’m happy to know that following the directions was the right thing to do. Lmao Also, I want to say I pick and choose what parts of the curly girl method work for me. Since I’ve stopped using silicones (about 3 years now)my hair doesn’t get weighed down as quickly but I do struggle with more frizz. No surprise, since silicone really helps with frizz. I prefer volume over definition but in the summer frizz can be a battle. Especially in Michigan. Typically, gel can help but because of a previous video you did I’m considering incorporating cream stylers with silicone during the summer because generally my hair prefers creams and most gels have a ton of glycerin. Which we know is great for dryer months. Not so great for summer.

Jessica Ronayne: Gosh darn, I've been deep conditioning my hair overnight. Stopping that immediately. Thanks for saving my hair Mell.

Bre Ghesquiere: Serious hair goals! How you get rid of all the frizz is beyond me. Hair sorcery!

cfglz06: I have to congratulate you on sharing your knowledge about Curly system but most of all making it soooo interesting. Even though I am elderly you sure caught my attention. Yes.. even at my age (soon to be 60) I had no idea I had been treating my curly hair soooo bad !!!. Your mom should be proud to see how smart you are. I suggest you become a Stylist Teacher or Technician or whatever professional name is used nowadays. Thank you so, so much. !!! Keep up the great work. You are such a fun and happy person !!!... Movies maybe ?? that would be good for ou too. !!!!

Alysha: I started my CG journey 1 month ago now. I feel like my hair doesn't really need a deepconditioner though. When I apply a deep conditioner, my hair just gets flat and the wave pattern is little to non existent. Do other people experience the same thing?

Stephanie Camargo: Another poppin texture Tuesday! Thanks, Mell! I know you’ve briefly touched on this throughout your videos, but could you make a video about salon products vs drugstore products? I’ve heard mixed reviews. Some curly hair stylists HATE drugstore products because cheap product = cheap ingredients = unhealthy hairs while other hair “gurus” are all about the steal. I’d like to hear your take on it because honestly, I don’t trust anyone in the curly hair community more than I trust you lol.

Kassandra Cardenas: Hey Mel!! I work in healthcare and have to wear my hair up for 13+ hrs a day...any tips how to keep my curls from stretching?! Thanks in advance

Lisa Costigan: Whoooo hoooo deep conditioning explained....you totally rocked it!!! Man it is so easy to become overwhelmed by all the products & techniques for caring for our curls....thanks for keeping it real

Rachel Fishbein: Perhaps since it's September this is a bit late to be asking this question. What are the best ways/products to protect your scalp against sunburn without ruining your curls? I got back from a football game this afternoon and, especially because I have low density hair, my scalp is absolutely fried.

Yara Alameddine: Great video! I have a question, when I deep condition, can I style my hair after rinsing it out, like a regular wash day?

julia julia: I deep condition every washday and it works for me!

Bhamini: Maybe you can mention the difference in the ingredients between a deep conditioner, mask and leave in conditioner ? Because that's what truly tells us whether we need it or not.

Sharon Peckham: Definitely want a video on hygral fatigue!

Dawn Frye: Before watching your videos I was putting different oils ( coconut, olive,)on my dry hair thinking it was moisturizing ‍♀️let it sit before washing it out. I appreciate your curly hair knowledge and your sense of humor . Is there any benefit to this ? I never noticed a real improvement.

Nilda: Great video, Mel! Thank you! In was wondering if you can do a series like best shampoos of 2019, conditioners, masks, etc! That would be awesome! Xoxo

Abigail 719: love you Mell, thank you for helping me to love my natural hair! xox

Adriana Gonzalez: Mell, I'm confused. In a previous video of yours you recommended avoiding silicone in conditioners, yet Avdea Damage Remedy conditioner contains dimethicone (it's the 3rd ingredient and it's not water soluble) So, should I avoid it in "daily" conditioner and not deep conditioner?

Consciously Pure: This is interesting, but I’m interested in a bit more detail on what exactly I need to deep condition... like, what ingredients. What ingredients do I need to deep condition? How does it work deep? Can I “fortify” a normal conditioner? For example by adding shea butter/oils to a normal conditioner to turn it into a deep conditioner? It would be nice to add something that I already have in the house to avoid having to spend on another deep conditioner to keep it affordable...

Terena: Do you think you could do a more elaborate video on how you go about doing your regular shampoo and conditioning process? I’ve watched all of your videos, but was wondering if there could be more depth on this! YOU HAIR LOOKS FANTASTIC! And love the merch!!! I can’t decide what I want to get

TardisBaby: My hair is damaged from using the wrong products for my porosity (which I thought was low but as it turns out, is actually high). I condition it when I wash but even after rinsing out all the conditioner, my hair still feels a bit dry and tangles up again. Once I'm ready to style, I use a leave-in before applying a light styling cream and a touch of gel but by day 2 or 3, my hair is frizzy and dry and the breakage is just so obvious. It's all at the front and top of my head from ear to ear. It's just a funky halo. Would deep conditioning help? I'm so afraid to try the wrong product and make things worse. Any advice?

Brittany Holtgreven: Thank you SO much from the bottom of my heart for helping me learn so much about taking care of my curls I fall in love with them more the more I learn and improve them

Caroline Park: I would love to learn more about hygral fatigue - maybe a Halloween themed episode?

Alissa: Girl... your Curls are popping ❤ how did you archived the no shrinkage style? Which Products did you use this time?

Martine Amee: Finally a video that actually helps and isn’t a copy of a copy ❤️

Kitty Germein: I love your personality, you are so delightful to watch! And so informative and smart! Keep slaying!

Ronel Sorgenfrei: Thank you for this. Been in my mind. Question re pre-pooing with oils for fine soft type 2 & 3 hairs. What you suggest? Especially when you are protein sensitive.

Kimberly Giebler: Me: I think I’ll watch Mel to avoid studying for my chemistry midterm Mel: enter science Mel

Brandi Nichole: Please please do an updated Fall/Winter hair routine for both you and Amanda ♡♡

claudiam13: I’ve leaned so much from your videos. I have a real problem with my hair getting matted underneath. What can I do to stop/help this? Can you do a video on this.

Selma Škrijelj: Please do a video on hydro fatigue!!! I've been making the mistake of leaving my deep conditioner in overnight. Also, should oils be left on the hair overnight?

Dalia Nagati: You are adorable! Thank you for sharing all this incredible curly hair knowledge you have!

daftoptimist: I live in a one-bathroom house, and it NEVER FAILS: When I have deep conditioner in, someone will ALWAYS need the bathroom just as it’s time for me to rinse out. So I was worried that was causing me to over-condition. But, it’s never made me more than 5-10 minutes late. So, I guess I can cross that concern off my list.

Daly Jane: I love your videos! I learn so much from you thank you!! Can you Please make one on Hygral fatigue! Apparently I have that how do I reverse it?

GaBriella R. R.: Have you ever used the brand, Palmer’s? I use the coconut oil hair products and it smells so delicious and has truly improved my curls since I started using it in January. I never see anyone talk about this brand so I’m curious!

Kimberley Barraclough: Woop! Watched All vids from old to new and already seen loads of improvement with my mop! Now I can look forward to the next video, thanks Mell!

Amanda Burgos: Because of you I tried the Shea moisture Manuka oil masque and it made my curls soo soft! For those of us who have one of those huge portable hair dryers, should I use low or medium heat? PS: You should do a review on the product line Not your mothers curl talk.

Janice Davis: You are happy your hair looks happy your smile is happy, what you tells us is all true about curly hair, go girl keep doing what you are doing, love

la llorona: Love your personality! Thank you for sharing and I hope you and yours are safe and healthy. :)

Maria Asher: Please do a video for us girls with wavy hair!! Love your channel!

Skygazer: I have been leaving the deep conditioner on all night and putting it on dry hair......Mel could be a stand-up comedian, she is so funny.

lisa: OMG! Mell, your hair is AMAZING! Day 2? That is mythical. You are either a unicorn or a Pokemon, either way you are stunning! LOVE your content, and purchasing the merch for sure!

Raven Wilson: You're the only curly girl youtuber that's advice has worked for my hair. THANK YOU.

Tess: Curly hair is too many products not enough money

Daja ReAnne: My hair use to be so shiny and defined and now it’s just frizzy looking . I bought a cowash and it helped a bit so I think my issue is lack of moisture

Fernandes: You are so knowledgable and helping me learn!!!

KiraiBK: I have very long, healthy hair. It shines naturally and is virgin. I rarely use heat and it is kept in protective styles. I deep condition whenever I wash which can be weekly or biweekly depending on how it’s styled because I like the softness. My issue is that when I do wear my hair out, the curls aren’t defined. My hair is 40 inches long so I don’t know if it’s the weight of it that keeps it more wavy than curly or what. My other (bigger) issue is tangling. I started deep conditioning regularly because I was told that would cut down on the tangles, but it doesn’t. My ends are good. I trim my hair as needed but it just still tangles so much! What is the remedy for that? It’s not dry and my ends aren’t split. So what thee hell man? Ugh. I’m cutting off 16-18 inches next week for donation so I’ll see if it’s just the length that’s causing the problem. I would like to know what I can do better though. My hair type is weird. The front inch is a frizzy 4a/b while the rest is a silky 3c. I still haven’t quite mastered what the 2 textures need.

thisischaniece: Your videos are amazing haha. I wish I had a channel like this around when I was first trying to figure out my hair

Janirys Cañizares: You should do a video on leave-in conditioner. What it is? When to use it? When to leave out? I always struggle with if or if I shouldn't use it after deep conditioning. I always have though cause I'm scared of what the results would be otherwise lol.

Jiren the Wavey: Hey, Mell, not sure if you’re going to read this, but I’m in a dilemma. For months now, my hair has been dry, brittle, breaking, dull, frizzy and all of the characteristics that would be used to use for damaged hair. The thing is- my hair is completely virgin. This whole time, I’ve been experimenting with so many products and techniques: the CG method, clarifying, oil rinses, alkalines, acids, bentonite clay, baking soda, experimenting with protein/moisture balance and a whole lot more. You could probably name a lot of other things and I can honestly say that I’ve tried them all. None of them have helped with my hair, unfortunately. I just didn’t understand. It wasn’t until recently that I discovered that this damage was caused from the water that I use. I don’t know how hard my water is, but it sure is hard enough to fuck up my hair to the point where it’s practically lifeless. I’ve noticed a while ago that parts of my hair turned a little brassy/brown-ish and I thought that was probably caused by protein overload. Thinking about it even more, it would not make sense for protein to cause my hair to have discoloration. It’s been the water this whole time! These past few months, I’ve been reduced to wearing a durag whenever I go out into public. It’s that bad. At least now I know the real cause to the problems with my hair, it’s just that now I don’t really understand now what I should do with this information. If you could please help me with what I can to recover my hair back, I would really appreciate it! Thanks.

Vedanshi Mishra: Girl, your skin is gorgeous. And if you're wearing foundation, that's gorgeous too.

E a c d: Hair looks great full and great definition looks so long love these videos
