DISCLAIMER: This video not sponsored. The description may contain affiliate links. This helps support the channel and allows us to continue to make videos like this. Thank you for your support!

What'S good, everybody are you cold because I'm cold then we'll so dry and flaky and itchy and scratchy and disastrous, but what else is new if you're new here that I welcome you to this channel on your hope and your main girl melt - and this is another Episode part of the series cold cold curls, which is a whole playlist, dedicated to caring, fair curls in the cold winters. It needed a whole playlist. Now this video is going to be dedicated to my favorite winter approved products and, more importantly, I'm going to give you guys an explanation of some of the ingredients that may or may not be some of your products that could be triggering your curls in the cold. So if you want to learn more like one of these ingredients, why are they my products? What are they doing to my hair y'all gon na fix it yeah? You know the five W's and then make yourself comfortable, keep watching this video and without further ado. Let'S get to it, okay, so the secret is out it's already in the title of this video, it's in the caption you may have already heard about it so not to get to an indie gritty scientifica with you guys. I want to explain to you all and very simple baby terms: what humectants are why they're in your products and what they are doing to your hair God give it to me me me me me me me me me me all right. Well, it's not that simple, but here are the basics one. What are you Meccans? Humectants are types of ingredients that are found in products that are meant to promote moisture in your hair gray. So far, so good now, question number two: how are these affecting your hair's? These types of ingredients may leave your hair feeling dry. Looking dull, with low elasticity that is weak prone to breakage split ends, tons of risk flyaways. You know all that good stuff now you're, probably asking. Why are these in my products? Well, in most cases, they are aiding and adding moisture to your hair. That'S what they're supposed to do. The intentions are good, there's just a time and a place, so when what I want to use these or stay away, this is where things can get technical. But again I want to keep this very simple to explain. If there is moisture in the air, it will get attracted to your hair, which is good right. That'S what we want through it now, as for winter, when there is low humidity and the conditions are very cold and very dry. This is when humectants will have the reverse effect on your hair. So if you use products that contain a lot of these humectants and there's no moisture in the air, it can take the moisture from your hair and put it in the air, because it's attracting moisture to wherever is dry. It wants everyone to be great and when your hair is greater than the [ __ ] cold winter sky, it's not going to do what you wanted to do, but before you freak out, this is not going to apply to everyone's winter. Everyone has a different professionals and as a comedian, you know, I know real hold it. Okay, if you live in Florida, if you live in LA even if you live in New York. Okay, I wish winter was that mild, but unless your weather is below freezing so below negative 1 degrees Celsius or 30 degrees Fahrenheit, then this topic is not going to be that serious for you, in fact, if you usually live in very humid climates, that was a Good time to start using humectants, however, before you click out, because you think you're in the clear there's more to this, so let me explain now it's why people near the equator before you think you're in the clear thinking. Oh, that's not me! Oh think again. Ok! Yes, this is a winter problem, but humectants can also be affecting your hair in the high humidity, so we're all in this together. So how can we solve this? At last? The part we've all been waiting for. I have a solution for all of you. I also have some product recommendations and a formula that is going to help. You guys understand the products that you have and how to make the best of them. So why did the type of humectant and the reality is? You will not be able to eliminate them all, but the bright side to this is not all humectants act. The same some are better or in this case worse than others, and if there is one humectant to avoid like the plague. Above all else, Blizzard's humectant abilities are unmatched. They are like super strength or just extra fast and extra strong at absorbing moisture, but also spitting it back out, and there are some other humectants that also act. This way like honey, agave, nectar sorbitol. These are all humectants that are also they have the same kind of reaction. The glycerin is the main one, and unfortunately it is the one humectant that you will probably find in over 99.9 % your products. It is very hard to find products that are glycerin free, but I have collected some of my favorites that have no glycerin or low blisterin, which is also very helpful. So I'm going to show you guys my favorite winter products and I'm gon na explain my formula for styling as well. You may already be familiar with the prep, well Finnish method and, if you're not, then you need to watch that video of mine, where I teach you how to actually properly apply and layer your products. The formula here goes listed in the beginning. Your routine is a-ok, as you work your way through and get to the end of your finishing products. That is when you want to seal everything in no glycerin little humectants. That is when you want emollients to finish it off. So when would we want to use humectants in the winter shower time? You do not have to be worried about humectants in your shampoos, conditioners, deep conditioners, and even some of your prep products, because these are all products that you apply in wet hair. When there is moisture in the air and you're going to get the benefit of the glycerin or any humectants that are in the products now, as for my favorites, I'm going to shamelessly plug the sea stir holiday kit. If you haven't heard this is me and my sisters, customize kits of our favorite products from bird we've got the shampoo and the conditioner of the curl line that I absolutely love, and we also have the hydrating mask in here now: here's a tip okay in the Winter, when it is drier, you're gon na need heavier conditioners, probably than normal. You'Re gon na want to be doing more hydrating masks and in these drying times the thicker the better. So this I mean this mask is tick she's, a chick. It'S a really really. Nice consistency that you can still apply through your hair cuz. I don't know about you. I'Ve used some conditioners that were too thick. Overall, you want to look for conditioners that are made for dry and damaged hair, because these are going to strengthen your hair when you need it. And if you want to learn more about deep conditioners, you can go ahead and watch my deep conditioner video, but we need to talk about stylers, because this is where it starts. To get specific, your stylers are: what's going to make or break you, of course, your foundation, your washed, your condition, it's very important, but how are you finishing it off? This is where this is now. I'M excited. Okay. Now, I'm going to show you the things, so I'm only gon na be showing you my actual favorite products that I use. There are a lot of other products out there and if you have some options that I want you to leave them below, sharing is caring. Moving on to prepare your hair now that we're nice and hydrated, I want to lock it all in. This is one of the first products that I will put in my hair. This is verbs reset spray. Now this does have glycerin in it, but I will pay with that, because the main benefit I'm getting out of something like this is the pH balancing the food. So this is an acidic product. It does have a pH similar to our hair and that's why it leaves my hair, really nice and shiny. It also gives me some heat protection, so I like to start off with something like this. I can also use the verb ghost oil which, by the way you can also find in the sister holiday kit now just flamer. This does have some glycerine in it, but because I'm going to be layering more products on top, this is not a one and done styler it's going to be okay. Now this is going to be especially good for very dry hair if your hair is very dry. If your hair is very low porosity, you want to be absorbing as much moisture as possible. So that's why using glycerin is good, but some other prep products that are just gon na help to seal in all that moisture without any glycerin we have the Eva NYC get gloss serum. This serum is very similar to the VirB serum. The difference is, this has small amounts of glycerin. This has no glycerin, so if you're an extreme extreme cold, if it's really really cold here, I'm gon na opt for this one, but when the temperature is more moderate more around the zero range I go in with diverted ghost oil, so I can still get enough Moisture now both of these have protein protein is something that I'm using throughout my routine, especially for me with someone with damaged hair. I know it doesn't look damaged, but it's been damaged because she's blonde, so protein is very important to keeping my hair healthy and strong and preventing from breakages next up. This is another one of my favorites. This is the ole Plex number six bond smoother. This is glycerin free, so you're in the clear. This is amazing to put in your hair right away when it's wet to prep your hair for any styling. You can put creams, you can put gels, but whatever on after this is just going to give you really nice soft fluffy, hydrated hair also give me a protein another one of my favorites for leave-in conditioner is the AG fast food. You guys have probably seen me use this in my old winter routine. I still use this. It'S another fantastic one, glycerin free, hydrating slip. Wonderful, now, just one more option for leaving conditioner that I really like to use is again from VirB. This is the curly bin. Now this one does have some glycerin in it, but it is DLO on the list of ingredients. So just to compare the three leave-in conditioners I have here, olaplex is very thick. Very heavy fast food is pretty in between and then this is more of like a milk. So it's lighter very good for finer, more light weight, hair types, so you're not weighing it down too too much. Now, let's move on to the styling product. Now the styling product phase is very versatile, there's a lot of different products in it. So I like to look at the umbrella and under the umbrella here we have creams, mooses gels kwame's, and I want to put the spotlight on mousse for a minute because I love mousse. I'Ve recently welcomed it back into my life and it does not fail right. Now I have the diva curl first free volumizing, foam and glycerin is at the very bottom of the list here, so I was okay with it. I went in with this after I put in my leave-in, which was the olaplex it's okay, glycerin is these. Fourth, last ingredients out of probably over 20 ingredients, so really not a concern for me here. I also really love the Eva NYC main magic mousse. This has some glycerin. It'S in the middle of the list really depends on the weather, but I love this for the fullness and the softness that it gives me. It really does give my hair a nice softness, but if you aren't very, very, very, very very cold winters avoid avoid. And, lastly, my first love, also seen in my first winter routine - is the AG mousse gel now. The reason why I first use this in my first routine was because this one's glycerin free, however, upon doing further research on connectives, I realized that propylene glycol is a humectant, and that is tied up on the list on this one. I think it's the fifth ingredients here. However, I want to remind you all again, not all humectants act. The same. This never gave me a problem in the winter. Glycerin is definitely the main one you want to avoid, but this does have some other humectants high up on the list. The reason why I really like this one is because of the hold that it gives this one gives a much stronger hold then the other mooses. This is more of a finishing mousse, whereas these two options, I'm more put at the beginning of my routine, now to follow up with the mousse like these, I could go in with a curl cream now, as were Pro creams, there's not many Pro creams that I Have that are glycerine free, the only one that I have completely glycerine free is the Eva NYC Rucka wave curl cream. This is great, also has protein. A lot of my products have protein in them and then another low glycerine product, but I also like to use if the temperature is more moderate, is the Aveda be curly curl enhancer I've been using this for years still works for me in the winter, especially if I'M using the right finishing products after bad blisterin is pretty low on the list on this one as well. So that's a great option to compare these. This one is glycerin free. This one has a little bit of glycerin. They both have protein they're, both curl enhancing creams and lastly, out of my stylers, my two favorite glycerin free options for gel are the dippity-do girls with curls. This is their jelly. This is also one I was using all summer when it was really humid. So this one is great great option: if you can get it, it's a drugstore option as well, very affordable, Halla or, and this one's also from a Nevada lovers. This one is the Aveda flaxseed aloe gel. I always love pairing this. If I'm using the B curly curl enhancer - or I even use this to scrunch, these results a little bit, this is a glycerin free as well. So the difference between these two is the price point. It'S definitely different. What'S great about this, shell is its liquidy. I, like liquid gels, it's also gluten-free, whereas they dippity-do jelly has wheat protein in it. So it's not lutein free, but it is a more budget-friendly option. It'S a different texture. It'S a thicker texture, but both glycerin for rape, so a great way to seal in all of your product and moisture. Besides finishing products, gel is the last styling product that I would be applying to my hair. I really try to stay to more glycerin free options. Oh, but I also use the aging mousse gel, it's a mousse and a gel. I use this at the end of my routine, now the most important thing to do in the winter once your hair is all dried and you have always dry, not dry, its dried, like it's not wet anymore, but it's hydrated. This is when you want to lock in that moisture, so you want to go in with some emollients some serums. This is when you can also go in with glycerin free option. Serum again, that was the get lost serum or if you want a CG option as well, you can go in with the innate life. This is their rose, hair, elixir, it's just a blend of a lot of different oils. Just put a couple drops and you can use that to kind of seal in the moisture tame, some frizz flyaways, add some shine smells like roses or I'm gon na bring it back the verb ghost oil. If you want something, that's really weightless, because this serum is very very light. It'S actually a serum that can hydrate the hair a little bit because of the glycerin so depending on where you are what the environment is like. This could be a really good option to use throughout the week to add shining a little extra conditioning and the best part is it's also part of our sister kit, so that belongs right in there, and this belongs in your homes. If you own more about our kits and what's Easter about to create some work David products that we really really recommend, you can get this cut for a very affordable price, pull the more info in the description below, and I will put links to all of these Products that I have been using these are my favorites winter products as for right now, and if you guys have different options depending on where you are. I want you to put in the comment section right now. latebloomerlaura: Mell is really leaning into being our fairy godmother with this outfit ♥️

Ashley: Mel, you're my favorite curly guru. As a scientist I really appreciate all the good research you do and real education you give. You're not just telling us to use the products, you're telling us why we should be using them. YAY SCIENCE.

Amber Lynn: I live in a tiny town in Virginia where Mother Nature can’t decide if she’s divorcing summer for winter or if she’s just gonna have an affair so the first step of my routine is literally to go sit outside for like 5 minutes to try and get a premonition of what the weather will be like later

Curly Girly: Can you do a list of “drugstore” or Target brands that are actually affordable? You’ve never mentioned nor tried Cantu-and that stuff is BOMB

Linette Arroyo: I’m new to wearing my hair naturally curly and never knew I had to use different products in different temperatures. Mel to the rescue like always!

Marie: The pantene wave gel is glycerin free and $4

Carressa Martinez: We’re approaching winter here in Cali, so I tried the AG Leave-On and Aveda Flaxseed. LOVED these two together!!! I think I finally found hair products for the cold weather.

La Gabby: I've been so frustrated with my gel lately, it always dried out my hair... well I know why. Glycerin was one of the first ingredients listed. Thanks Mell! You are incredible!

Keny McAloon: This is exactly what my mom needs to watch! She keeps asking me questions and i always defer to you and your videos i just hope she actually watches it. It's so much easier than trying to text back to a million questions you're a superstar Mell

Fine Curls: Mel!!! Please do a video on how soft and hard water affects our hair and how it affects the way our hair products work. ☺ I live in New York and I have soft water. My hair is always flat, greasy and gets weighed down easily. To my knowledge even though soft water is better than hard water I feel too much of a good thing is bad. After using soft water for 15 years my hair is taking a toll. I notice it has become worst after using curly hair friendly products. Maybe what I'm using isn't cleansing enough. . In your video please include which shampoos are best for hard and soft water. I know soft water over time may flatten your hair if you don't use a proper shampoo but I don't know which shampoo to use anymore . If you could figure this out this will tremendously help alot of people .Thank you in advance ❤

Vanessa Montiel: This whole cold curls series is just what I needed! I’ve been struggling so long to figure out how to switch up my products in the winter time

Zoe Cronin: Although it has propylene glycol, I really like using Not Your Mother’s Curl Talk mousse. I use it after a leave in and a cream, and it gives excellent hold. Just for reference, I have mostly 3a hair and live in Delaware (mid-Atlantic region)

Liz Moore: This was SO good! EXACTLY what we need for winter hair care all in one video!

Aisha Stewart: Hi Mel, you were the reason I started to embrace my curls several years ago, so thank you! I am now further following your example and going to try Aveda gel. I know you've previously used and linked to both the confixor and the flaxseed one in different videos. Can you please confirm what the practical difference is between the two and which one you prefer and why?

: love jessicurl spiralicious gel, the giovanni cosmetics firm hold gel and treluxe hi definition gel for glycerin free gels this time of year...they are making a big difference for me

Amber Abbott-Farr: Just bought my seester kit from verb!!!! I am insanely excited! Thank you so much Mell for this video! I am working towards stocking up on my curl supplies. I live in Northern Arizona in the states and it get cold, windy, and snows here! So this video was extremely needed and helpful so I can work on getting the products I need for my hair this winter! Thank you so much as always! Love you Mell!

BeautyWearsBoots: I started my curly hair journey around February, so I didn't know much and attributed all of my problems to transitioning. Now I'm actually having to learn how to winter. So, thanks Mell!

Kaity Miller: Some humectant free products I have found are the John Frieda Frizz Ease Curl Reviver Mousse, and the Aussie Headstrong Volume gel, Aussie Instant Freeze Gel, and the Herbal Essence Totally Twisted gel. I've been doing the mousse gel mousse method with the first two products I mentioned during the cold weather and I've had great results!!

Genesis Chavez: I just found your YouTube channel yesterday and I was blown away ! I admire your work and passion towards hair in GENERAL !! Thank you for this !!! ‍♀️

Bonjour!: THANK YOU FOR THIS! I’ve been having issues getting my hair to be less frizzy-and my curls are all over the place. Some are bigger clumps, some are smaller curls, one side curls more than the other. I was using devacurl low point and decadence but both have glycerin! And then the Shea moisture detangler as a prep, but it has glycerin! Those were in other videos, but those videos were from NOT the winter! So, I will keep those for summer. For winter, I bought the AG fast food and it is EPIC. I also got recoil and tried that route (as Mel’s SEESTER’S hair is closer to my hair type and that’s what was used it in a prior video) and the results were ALMOST like they used to be prior to going through this curly journey. I did get a devacut, which helped with the curls incredibly. But my bangs are driving me nuts (they have been since May, when I was wearing my hair straight all day every day) and I’m trying to find the correct products to style and control EVERYTHING. When my curly hair was virgin, I used two mousses and three types of gels, along with random shampoo and conditioner (usually Herbal Essences). And the texture was GREAT when I styled. It was a feeling I got used to. I have forgotten the feeling of slip and how my hair used to feel with my prior routine. It’s been many many years and one of the gels I used is no longer around. SO...on the quest to find the best hair products that work for my hair. The ag fast food with recoil was allllmost the same feeling of what my hair used to feel like when I originally wore it curly (many many years ago). But, the hold wasn’t all that great. I need way more hold. What do I do? Try the AG gel/mousse? I did put in some la looks sport gel, but the hold still isn’t where I want it to be. Anyone have thick hair that’s a little longer, around 2c/3a/3b ish hair that they style well? Let me know what you’re styling with! I’m also super confused on creams. I used to absolutely hate creams because they made my hair feel too greasy and it feels like it’s too much. So, if anyone knows any creams that hold well, please let me know! TLDR: I am having issues styling my 3a/3b with a dash of 2c hair, I need some heavy hold that doesn’t weigh down. If anyone knows any type of products like this, please let me know! During the styling process, my hair also ends up with more curly curls on one side and less curly curls on the other. Any ideas on how to fix this? I have a denman brush I use, along with the wet detangler brush!

Tricia Grace: I can’t wait to watch this! Hopefully it will help with all the questions I left on your last video! LOL! I binge watch your videos whenever I have time and even give shout outs to you across my social media. I still have so many questions and my hairs need so much help! Thanks for all you do to help us help our hairs achieve their best days!❤️⭐️

Sahirine M: Thank you Mell! I live in the Netherlands, so it is a humid winter my curls are suffering. I will try to find the AG products. Here in Europe aren’t that easy to find :/ Love your videos, you always make me laugh

Liz P: Thanks to you I made changes to my routine and my hair is loving it .... can’t wait to see a video like this for warm weather / summer favorite products update video ... you are the curly hair fairy !!!!

Anna West: I’m loving the Verb Curl Kit here in Japan! It’s just now getting colder—still mid 40s (F) during the days so the glycerin hasn’t been too much of an issue for me. I have some EcoSlay products on the way—would love to see a review of them from the Seesters!

Anna Burns: BTW....lately I have been using CurlMix that has a little glycerin way down on the list, but it is a flax based gel. I really like the flax. It works so well in my low dew point climate.

Dawson: In my family’s cupboard that are glycerin free we have Kinky- curly knot today leave in, curls blueberry Bliss leave in, curl keeper team texture styling cream, curls goddess curls botanical gelle, Dippity-do gelee, AG mousse gel. But personally I love the combination of kinky curly knot today leaving/deva curl believe -in (to plump)/ deva curl styling cream /AG mousse gel to finish together.

Miroslava Kral: Loved this video. I live in Edmonton, we had a cold snap and I became a frizz ball so had to completely switch up my routine. I found success with using just a cowash from As I Am that I got at Sally’s instead of my CG shampoo and conditioner. But totally just checked all my products a couple of days ago for Glycerin and IT IS EVERYWHERE!!! I also received your Seester’s kit today from Verb. Will be trying those products along with their hydrate line. -20 and curly hair does not cooperate. Totally still trying to figure out what works for my Mane.

Jeanette Grigsby: Thanks for the video. My favorite glycerin free combos are Curls blueberry leave in or Camille Rose curl love with Jessicurl Spiralicious gel on top. I live in San Diego!

Renee Rojas: When I clicked on the video first thing I said was “Mel you look like a literal angel ” love the headband and your hair looks amazing!

Maria Stergos: Thank you so much for the advice I know this is a dedicated video for the winter but you’ve also included us humid girls as well, which I really appreciate!!! I know at least one of these products will definitely help and you’re advice as well! Thank you so much for the insight once again!!! You’re truly amazing!! I send all my love and g’days from Australia hehehe ❤️❤️❤️

Blasted grandma: As always I learned so much watching your videos! it’s just so amazing the way you explain everything! You are definitely meant to be a stylist ! Thank you!

Jeannette Prds: Mel I tried your winter routine, got same products. My hair looks fabulous! Thanks my curly guru!!!

D. Lynn: You just become my MAIN girl by mentioning gluten. Thanks Mel for the acknowledgement. BTW, Verb's line is gluten free as well.

Bryana Camille Braxton: This video is everything I wanted for Christmas! I’ve been trying to find glycerin free products for this winter ❄️

Michelle Balseca: I just want to share my experience. I live in California and it is a dry environment, not necessarily cold. But, when I used the Verb leave in conditioner and then layered in the Dippity Doo Gelée, the gel and leave in conditioner started separating, balling up in white residue that would even leave my hands sticky :( I wasn't putting too much gel either and the results where not very nice (frizz and no real hold). On another wash day I used the Bounce Curl leave in conditioner and followed it with the Dippity Doo gel and no balling occurred with very nice, soft, and defined curls! So in my experience, the Verb leave in and the Dippity Doo gel are not compatible, at least not on my hair. Has anyone else experienced this? As always, great, funny and educational video!!! I always learn something!!

Tricia Grace: Ok, just watched! This video is so helpful. Thank you . I live in Dallas ,Texas and our weather changes all the time. Yes, our climate is pretty moderate in the winter. However, a day can start off dry and chilly, and then switch to balmy, and humid. I think it literally messes with my hair! When I wore my hair straight, I lived for our winters, but now that I have let it be very wavy, well...My winters have gone from enjoying a cup of tea in my free time, to now searching for a nice cup of elixirs, creams, gels & potions that might possibly help my winter crazed hair! I love the Olaplex 6, but I’m worried that it will build up on my hair. So, now that I have watched, and rewatched this amazing video and bought all the products that you recommended in a previous video, I’m going to wash my hair and try to figure out the perfect potion for my hair. Thanks again for an amazing video. You shine so bright! ⭐️

Derrick Jennifer Watkins: Great job as usual Mel! Thanks for all the good info!

MrsHNKeller: You just keep getting better Mell. Funnier, more informative and simply more wonderful. Thank you. Helen

Niki KhanamArt: Thank you for making this video! Do you have any recommendations for humectant-free, glycerin-free products to keep low porosity hair hydrated and moisturized during winter (conditioners, serums, etc)? Especially in an area with lots of hard water.

Regina Euzebio: I have to thank you really quick Miss Mell for saying everyone's winter is different. We've only had one cold front this season and it only got up to 45F. Now back to the show!!

Erika Olivera: Cold Curls! Love it! My hair has improved significantly since this series! Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️

Beyonce Mendoza: Hey Mell!! I recently bought The dippity do girls with curls and I haven’t tried it yet but I realized it has glycerin in the ingredients. Sorbitol, propylene glycol, panthenol, and aloe. Do you know why it still works well even though it has these humectants?

Shirena Gonzalez Morgan: I live in Chicago, USA and I’m so happy my finishing products have glycerin at the bottom of their ingredient list, because our winters here are terrible. For shampoo and conditioner I use Macari Naturals which has done wonders for my hair (my photo is pre-curly hair journey btw), for my leave in I use TreLuxe Untie the Knot, it has protein and no glycerin, for my gel I use TreLuxe Hi! Definition gel (I seriously looove this brand) and for a serum I use TreLuxe Reflex styling serum. I tried using some 100% Moroccan argan oil on my hair yesterday and my hair didn’t like it, but I also didn’t apply anything to my hair other than my leave in because I wasn’t going anywhere ‍♀️.

Kirsten Tolfa: Thank you, thank you, and thank you. I live in Fort Worth, Texas. Definitely not a cold region. I have followed your product recommendations with perfect results. I am surprised how curly and defined my hair is. So, these products work for your cold area and my "not so cold" area. Thanks for taking the time to make these very informative videos.

Elizabeth lapointe: As a curly girl with celiac thank you so much for mentioning gluten free options! So many products for us have wheat in them.

Kay Rayfield: Hey Mell, I'm in desperate need of some help so I've been watching all your videos as instruction manuals to be able to manage and style my daughters hair. I have perfectly straight hair with no effort like i woke up like this straight but my daughter has perfect beautiful curls like yourself so obviously I'm clueless on how to help control it! I've been getting better adding more and more products and techniques and brushes but similar to yours hers is shorter in the front like bangs except hers don't look like bangs because of me lol so I said all this to say please help me help my baby and possibly make a video on controlling maintaing styling something for curly bangs!!!!! TTTHHAANNKK YOOUU!!! btw you're great!!

thatkat31: Thank you so much for taking the time to explain all of this and give examples! YOU ARE AN ANGEL!!

Bosey: I love your videos and thank you for helping us through our curly journey you looks so cute btw

Teigan Padelford: I’ve been watching you for months now and omg you are the best. I recently did a big chop in May due to destroying my hair.. your videos have been saving me by rocking my short pixie!! Thank you!

ARMITA ARA: Watching your videos honestly makes me want to go back to my curly hair.I'm currently straightening my hair all the time.

Tonka: Living in Sweden here. Glad I came across your channel. Finally started to wear my hair wavy for the past month & bought some of the products you've mentioned. Can't wait to see where my hair will look in a year. I'm not used to seeing myself with wavy hair. Thank you!

Teresa Davis: Living in Minnesota and having hairs much like your Seester (I LOVE how you talk/showcase her hairs too - not a whole bunch videos of our hair type I feel). I’m a product junkie bad...but I just tried ‘Uncle Funky Daughter Curly Magic’ curl stimulator and I really like. Seems like no humectants in it (maybe). I also like “JessiCurl” confident coils as a cream. I have oodles I try to just stay away from glycerin in general with my finishing stylers as our weather is so extreme.

Leah 4678: Ok but can we just talk about how BOMB Mell's whole outfit and accessories looked with her hair! Love your videos. I've learned so much!

Elizabeth Spoonhourc: Thank you so so much Mell! You have helped me with my curls more than anyone!

frizzy izzy: i love learning more about the ingredients in my products!! Thanks Mell!!

Michele Torres: Just ordered your Seester Verb kit. Thanks for the 16% off and their free tote. Can’t wait to receive my kit

Milagro Méndez: I recently started following you and I just cannot stand the fact that I didn't know of your existence sooner! You are super fun to watch and I love how informative and assertive your videos are. I LOVE YOU GIRL!! I am from Costa Rica and I would looooove if you could provide advice on hair routines, etc for our type of weather, we only have 2 seasons (dry and rainy) and it tends to be very humid. Thank you!!!

Brenda M: Your hair is absolutely fabulous! Your curls are so defined, healthy looking and shiny! Loved your presentation. I live in Central Ohio so this is somewhat an issue. I had to stop using all Deva Curl products due to hair loss. There were others much worse off than me who had to shave their hairs due to the extensive damage and baldness and start over. Keep the info coming. Love your bloopers also.

Kristhell López: Awesome video as always Mell! I have a small question: Where I live (Holland), the winters are both humid and cold (but not too cold, between 0 and 5 deg celcius). Would you recommend to use humectants?

Felicia Bethea: LVE how your hair band and your shirt go together!!! Gorgeous eye and lip too. Here in S. Carolina, the Eva NYC is pretty good so far. Our fall and winters are roller coaster rides. 78° today, 45° forecast high for Thursday.

Amanda Burgos: This was such an informative video and you are sooo hilarious. Love, love your videos. Quick question: I love the dippity do gel but thought at one point I may be protein/wheat sensitive skin stopped using it. How can I tell if it was causing sensitivity for my hair? ❤️

meldan5: Bought the Verb curly shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioner and the styling cream. It’s amazing! My curls relaxed a lot after using DevaCurl products for the past 5 months(probably from a huge amount of buildup on my hair even after clarifying) but I got my curls back! They seriously look better than ever! Thank you so much for recommending Verb!

Kathryn Wheeler: I am loving the AG Hair Care line. I live in Asheville, NC. For Winter I prep with the Fast Food and style with Recoil. I finish with the Mousse Gel. Thank you Mell, my curls are finally popping and full of bounce. Using the Denman brush has helped tremendously with curl definition. And now I never go a night without my satin sleep bonnet. Just take it off after my shower, use a little of the AG Details cream on my hands and shake my head around (bang my head to rock music) with a little shush at my scalp. I am thankful for your recommendation in an earlier video of CurlSmith Probiotic scalp care. My hair is getting my thicker and my scalp has never felt better. I can go a full 7 days between washes without build-up or dryness and always itchiness. It’s always been one or the other for me.

Crochet Addict: The length of your videos are perfect for when I blow dry using the hovering method! I gave it a try a week ago and don't understand why I didn't earlier... ‍♀️ Love the results! Canada QC here.

Brooke Arceneaux: Hey, Mel! I tried out the verb shampoo and it makes my hair feel brittle and tangled. That can’t be right. Granted I use it once a week or once every other week ... but I’m not sure if it does my hair any good.

Katherine Perez: Have my first experience with Verb product... and then result is sick! Absolutely love it! Thanks Mel

sage024: I'm in the Denver, CO area, and recently got the Eva NYC products from your cold curls episode... on sale. My scalp has been so dry lately! I'm really loving the change I've seen in my curl definition, especially with the curl creme. Thank you for all of your help.

Rachel Fishbein: The AG Mousse Gel has been working phenomenally for me with my short (recently went for the big chop), low density, 2c - 3b hair. Also, dayyum Mell that top is so cute!

Taylor Louise: I just ordered the seesters kit and I’m so excited to try these products

Yari Reyes: Meli. ❤️ gonna try to highlight my curly hair with your technique during the weekend. Wish me luck lol

Marine Azad: I ordered innate life the problematic scalp bundle...thanks mell for ur help. Rose elixir is awesome n the other two products helping my scalp n dry hair in this winter ....thank you mell.❤

Hollycat50: I want to thank you and your seester for turning me on to the amazing shampoo brush! It has changed my life. There's one in every stocking this year!

Larea92503: I live in Tennessee (humid summers, highly variable winters). I love MySoigne flaxseed gel or Ecoslay Orange Marmalade for glycerin free gels.

Lord Be a Lamp on To my Feet 🕯👑🕊🍓: Thanks you so much for all these videos, they have helped me get my curls back.!!❤️

Lianna: Some of my favorite glycerin-free wavy curly fine virgin hair options! Anything from the Not Your Mother's curl talk line, Alikay Naturals' dulce lotion, and Uncle Funky's Daughter curly magic gel

Kellie Napier: I started using the WOW apple cider shampoo and coconut conditioner and love it! No more itch! Please try it and let me know what you think!

cermakb5: Most of the Jessicurl products are glycerin free! I've been using their Spiralicious gel for a few weeks and I love it!

Summer Rossi: Your hair has never looked prettier! Well done on the editing!!!!

debbiefloss99: Here in the UK it’s cold but not freezing I checked all my products for Humectants and yes they all had them in Glycerin being the main ingredient. I use the following products when I wash my and style my hair once every week: Olaplex No3 leave on 10 mins Boucleme Intensive Moisture Treatment - leave on 30 mins Aveda Be Curly Shampoo on roots and massage scalp On Wet hair add Aveda Damage Remedy small amount Umberto Giannini Mermaid Hair volume mousse big blobs Boucleme Super hold styler on all the hairs to keep the style all week, refresh with water on day 2/3 and more mousse if needed. I have mels Seesters curl pattern which can lose definition easily and frizz out but these products are my holy grails thanks Mel you’re brilliant and funny Happy Christmas

Margaux G: You.Are.Amazing!!!! I can't stop laughing and learning lots of things in the same time Thank you so much your videos are so perfect

Anna Burns: Curious about polyquaternium that is in several of the products that you mentioned. I'm not hard core CG, but I have read that polyquats cause a lot of build up, much more than silicone. I have really fine lightweight hair that gets weighed down so easily. I have been nervous about using products that contain polyquaternium. What's your opinion Mell? BTW, I enjoy your videos. Thanks much for sharing them...

Anita clue: Jessicurl Too Shea and Spiralacious gel are year round favorites! Bounce Curl clump and define cream is the ONLY product EVER with glycerin that my hair loves. (Fine, med density hair in the south)

Sandy: I LOVE your videos and am currently trying out your tips. Your curls look AMAZING! Unfortunately I can't buy the products you recommended, because they are not selling them in Germany. So now my challenge is to find the right products. Not that easy.. But I'm not giving up... I'm more that 2c/3a curly girl. I'm on a good way with giving them enough moisture.. Just need some good styling products to give them hold and definition. Because at the moment they getting flat very easily :/ .. lots of love to Canada <3

CAT Susch: I've been using TreLuxe stylers which are all Glycerin free and have some protein. They have been very moisturizing and the gels have great hold.

Emilia Carter: Innersensse Beauty!!! I buy it online. Since watching your videos, I’ve gotten so many compliments on my hair, it’s growing and voluminous!!

Alejandra Durazo: Not Your Mother's Curl Talk mousse works great!! And has no glycerin :D but does have protein tho

Sabrina Bennai: Hi Mel, I've just started to leave my hair naturally after probably 17years or straightning, chemicals etc.. My hair haven't past my shoulders since 2013.. Sooo.. I haven't straightened my hair or dried it with heat for now 2 weeks it's kind of a miracle for me. But I have no idea what to do and how to take care of it. I don't know how many time I can wash it, or what to put on how many times etc.. I wake up with an affro lol every morning and I can't really control it so I tie it up. My hair is fine I don't have as much as you and not curls slightly looser.. help please

Allyson Sixx: I live in Connecticut & have very blond highlights & very fine/thin 2B waves/curls. I’m always seeking weightless volume & springy waves/curls. Here’s a list of glycerin free products (a couple of them MIGHT hv low- glycerin but I don’t think so). I’ve categorized them & many are in the affordable price range. But there’s high end options too: Most of these I either like or are my holy grails & are geared towards my hair texture & needs (which I stated above). 1.) PRIMER- IGK Sold Out Curl Priming Basecoat (this is a must hv for my 2B curls!) & Redken Curvaceous Curl Refiner Priming cream (a must hv for thicker, coarse, or unruly 3C+ curls & coils!) 2.) Serums - AG Repair Serum Keratin Repair (great for extremely dry, damaged hair) Sorry, this is the only serum I’ve ever used & it’s works great but weighs down my hair. Best for thick/Coarse hair for sure! 3.) Shampoos & Conditioners - (these are not cleansing conditioners, co-washes or Low-poo/No-poos, they’re simply Glycerin free shampoos & conditioners which I feel aren’t really necessary to be glycerin free but here ya go :) - Maine & Tail original (they also have these in their super moisturizing options too), Dippity-Do Girls W/Curls shampoo, Tresemme Botanique Coconut Nourishing Conditioner, Jessicurl Too Shea! moisturizing conditioner, & Jessicurl Aloeba conditioner. 4.) Leave-in Conditioners - Giovanni Direct Leave-In, Kinky-Curly Knot Today, & AG Fast Food Leave-On. 5.) Curl (defining) Creams - Kinky Curly Curling Custard, AG Curl Activator or AG Trigger-spray, Jessicurl Confident Coils, Briogeo Curl Definition & RUSK Wired Flexible Styling Cream. Sorry no drugstore options here! But I do know that Marc Anthony has a really nice one in a tall yellow tube (too heavy for my hair tho). 6.) Mousses - Aussie Instant Freeze Mousse, Herbal Essence Totally Twisted Curl Boosting mousse, & AG Mousse-Gel 7.) Gels - Aussie Instant Freeze gel, Aussie Head Strong Volume Gel, Dippity Do Girls With Curls, Sebastian Volupt Spray Volume Building spray gel, & Redken High Rise Volume. 8.) Volumizing Root Spray - IGK Next Level Nordic Cotton Heat-activated volume Spray (spray onto damp roots just before diffusing & holy crap you guys, you’ll get off-the-hook-untamable volume!!!!) 9.) Dry Texturizing Spray & Powders - (be careful w/these bcz they can DEF make frizz) - IGK 30,000 Feet Texturizing Powder, AG Touseled Texture, & RUSK Texture Dry Tecture Spray (only use this one if you hv low porousity hair). 10.) Hairsprays I love! - Sexyhair High Tide Texture finishing spray, Chi Infrastructure dual action spray, RUSK W8less aerosol, RUSK Thickr aerosol thickening hairspray (adds some density to hair with light hold), Aussie Instant Freeze Hairspray & Chi Iron Guard 44 Style & Stay. ....that’s all I can think of for now.....

Rosie Rose: Yes! Give it to me! Lol I can't get more then one wash with out my scalp getting itchy! It's sooooo annoying! Thanks for all the helpful info. #tgit

Salvatrice Rempel: That headband looks awesome on you ! I use Curls , blueberry and coconut hair milk. I live in Winnipeg MB area but I got it at target when I go down to the states.

M Black: I have low porosity fine hair with 2a-2c waves. Normally I look like Hermione in the winter, but I bought the AG Hair Curl Mousse Gel and the Dippity-Do Girls with a Curls Gelee and it’s seriously amazing!

jailergrrl: Upstate and Western NY actually get hit pretty hard in winter with snow and frigid weather....so this definitely helps. :)

Penelope: Have learned so much today! Thanks Mel.

brittymar: I just bought the AG Mousse Gel (because of you) and it’s amazing!! I love it, thank you so much!!!

Martay Corrales: Love it!!! You go Chica!! ❤️

Angeli Cameo: I'm new to your channel but I absolutely adore it + you. Kepp doing your thing gurl! Hugs from Vienna/Austria.

Marisol Villanueva: Love ya Mell! I really needed this video. I live in Texas where it's cold one day and hot the next I'm still learning what my hair likes best trying different products to see what would be the best fit. Any recommendations for Texas weather? I already have the aveda flaxseed gel thanks to you!

Dawn Holmes: First of all, I live in Cancun, Mexico, so you can imagine how our winter is. Is slightly less hot that summer and dryer, but still hot and humid. Of course, it's not Canada-level dry, but dryer than that my hair is used to, so it has been behaving like crazy witt even more frizz than usual. I don't know what to do, haha.

Jelena Milacic: Can you look into OGX, Maui moisture, love beauty and planet, frizz ease etc? And let us know if any of those products are good? Basically stuff you can find at Shoppers for us budget babes

Zuzanna Klocek: In Poland (and in Europe in general, I think) there's this Boots crème, humectant free. Highly recommend. Cheap and really good.
