Hey girlfriends, I'm beyond cranny, watching beyond grenades today and I'm coming to you live from in my shower. I'Ve never actually spoken to you while in the shower, but here we go so today. I wanted to show you how you should properly be washing your hair and conditioning and the difference between clarifying shampoos, moisturizing shampoos, regular conditioners and deep conditioners. When should you use what today's video is sponsored by not your mother's? So thank you for sponsoring this video. I love so many of their products because they have a whole Naturals line. Then it's sulfate, paraben and silicone free. So I'm gon na show you some of my favorite, not your mother's products in today's video. So first, let's talk about a clarifying shampoo versus a moisturizing shampoo, a clarifying shampoo will actually say clarifying on the bottle or, it might say, scalp care cleansing. Those are the types of words that you know are gon na get a really good, deep, clean on your scalp, and that is the main place where shampoo should be applied. You don't want to apply shampoo to the length of your hair. You want to start at your scalp and then you can work it down if it's necessary. So, for example, the new, not your mother's curl, top scalp care cleansing oil, it's supposed to gently cleanse a remove build-up while restoring natural oils. This does have peppermint in it. So a lot of scout process of have peppermint that gives it that nice, cooling sensation and what I love about this one is: it has a little nozzle a little like rubber tip. So I could just apply this directly to my scalp. Now the difference between these two is that this one actually says massage into scalp using direct applicator, where a regular moisturizing shampoo will just say lather and work into wet hair. So if my hair really needed to be cleaned, I would probably use a moisturizing shampoo to put on the length of my hair where a scout care or a very clarifying shampoo. I would only focus on my scalp that's about how to apply them. You don't want to do the whole like dramatic, rub a dub-dub on the top of your head, and you often see in commercials all you're doing is creating more tangles as you mix it around on the top of your, I will admit. Sometimes they get a little too louder crazy and I just start massaging like those commercials, but I'm really not doing anything to help the tingle. My hair was actually better just to get your fingers on to your scalp and then massage more of the scalp and not really get your hair involved. It is also crucial to take this time to massage your scalp. That'S how you get the blood flowing, which it will increase circulation which could help with hair growth. So you might not remember to massage your scalp, maybe before you go to bed or in the middle of the day, but at least do it when you shower, while you're massaging in whatever cleansing product you put in when applying a moisturizing shampoo. That'S when it's okay to then go to the lengths of your hair. I would still start at the roots on your scalp and then just smooth down whatever remaining product. Is you don't, you know, apply more shampoo to the actual mids or ends of your hair? So it's feel free to just smooth it in going down, so you can start detangling and of course, these shampoos are sulfate free. Once you rinse off the shampoo, let's talk conditioners, should you use a deep conditioner or a hair mask or a regular conditioner? It depends on where you are in the week. I always recommend a deep condition once a week, so if you have a deep condition yet this could be your deep conditioning day then, if, for some reason you have to shower again, you know the deep condition twice a week. I would just then use a conditioner on that second wash. So when it comes to choosing a regular conditioner, I always like to find a conditioner that is silicon, free and one that smells good and has amazing slip. So you're happy not your mother's Tahitian, gardenia and flower and mango butter, curl, defining conditioner. All of these, not your mother's natural conditioners, have the same like thick consistency, which makes it really easy to detangle. This one is supposed to restore bounce to enhance and define curls. It has a really pretty floral scent and it does a really good job at detangling. All of my knots. Now, let's talk about how to properly apply the conditioner. You don't want to get a whole bunch and apply it to your scalp know. That is what we use shampoo for it, but conditioner you apply to the men or ends of your hair, where your hair is usually most dry now before I knew what to do. I would just kind of scrunch all the conditioner in there smooth it down and then start detangling, but the better way to the tangle is by taking a small section and smoothing the conditioner into your hair. So you literally grab your thumb on one end and use your thumb to press that product into your hair, smoothing down the hair shaft and it's also going to help eliminate frizz. So you just keep doing this over and over again and eventually look at that. All the tangles are gone so once I learned to actually smooth the product into my hair and rub it until all the tangles are gone. I realize that there are some conditioners that I thought I didn't like, but it really was me. I was the problem. I was applying it incorrectly, but once I learned this little technique, the tangling has been so much easier. I have noticed that when I finger detangle, my curls look a little bit more elongated because I'm kind of stretching them down verse says if I use a brush. I will actually be able to do the tangle faster, but I also get more definition, which then makes more shrinkage. So as long as you're cool with that definition, shrinking up, go ahead and use a brush. If you do decide to use a brush, don't just get a brush and go straight to the top of your head and then yank everything down. That'S how you rip out all your hair. You actually want to start at your ends, slowly the tangle, your ends and then work your way up to the top of your head. Until eventually, all the tangles are gone brush first, sphingo tangling is totally your preference twice. I think if you know my favorite deep conditioner period is by not your mother's, which is their matcha green tea and wild apple blossom. It'S a nutrient-rich butter mask deep conditioning with antioxidants to help restore damaged hair. So, although it is also a conditioner, it is packed with even more nutrients than a regular conditioner, because you allow us to sit in your hair for 20 minutes with a shower cap. Now, if you want, you could use your conditioner rinse it out and then apply a deep conditioner once you get out of the shower or you can skip your regular conditioner and just use a deep conditioner as your regular conditioner, slash, hair, mask and then rinse it Out totally up to you and how much moisture your hair needs. If you decided to use a hair mask, then I will put a very good thick amount, so you could actually see the product on your hair, wrap it up on the top of your head. Put on a shower cap and then you could either continue with the rest of your shower body, wash face wash shaving and then by that time it might be time to rinse it out. Another tip I have for you is to make sure you condition the very back of your head. This part is often neglected because we can't see it, but everyone else can you also might realize this is the part of your hair, that's always sitting under the water. So while you are washing your face, washing your body shaving try not to just stand under the water, because then all that hot water is just really attacking the back of your hair. So as much as I am guilty of loving hot showers, I really try to cool down the temperature so that hot water is not blasting on my hair in turn kind of creating heat damage. So if you're someone, that's notice that the back your head is always frizzy, it could be because of the hot water you're, letting just smack it in the face throughout your whole, shower another tip I have for you when it comes to detangling is to think about How you're actually going to wear your hair if you're going to wear your hair in a middle part, then it's okay to brush in two sections and keep that middle part. But if you have veins or you wear a side part or you just don't want a middle part at all - don't create one in the shower, because it's gon na become really hard to get rid of that middle part. My hair, it was like trained to fall. This way, so you kind of have to train it to not do that and start to create different parts depending on how you wear your hair. So once I'm done detangling both sides, I've been like to flip my hair over and rake my fingers through to get rid of that part. That'S also gon na help create more volume at your roots that, where your roots, just don't look flat and boring. So that is all I would recommend you having a successful wash today. Let me know what are your favorite? Not your mother's products, I'm also gon na, be doing a giveaway for some, not your mother's products on Instagram, miss Bianca Rene. So make sure you guys follow me so you can enter. I post new videos every week, sleep a little subscribe button and the Bell. Em-2013: It’s funny when I used to straighten my hair, I hated washing my hair with a passion. I would leave it for like 2 weeks. Now I am natural, I absolutely love washing and deep conditioning my hair. It’s my favourite time of the week!

Aaliyah W: You’re the reason I’m obsessed with NYM Fave Masque: Matcha green tea and apple blossom Fave shampoo: Tahitian gardenia flower and mango butter Fave leave in: Curl talk 3-in-1 Fave styler: Curl talk mousse

Evelyn Rodriguez: I love all of their products, specially the fact that they are so affordable.

Melissa Rio: Four years on my natural hair journey and I’ve been doing it all wrong! Thanks Bianca for these tips, much needed I love the NYM Gel and Curl Cream

Ivie E. Jönsson: Because of my disabilities I spend a lot of time lying down and I realised that this was a big part of why the back of my hair is so prone to tangles and frizz. So now I really focus the product on the back of my head and leave it conditioner to keep it moisturised. Sometimes it gets a little too oily before the rest of my hair because of all the product, but I'd rather have to wash my hair twice and have it look good, than washing it once and it tangles into a birds nest

Janelle Bailey: These are great tips. I had my husband watch so he can start learning before we have kids

Lidia Galvez: I’ve been following you since December 2018 , and I did my big chop May 23rd 2019. And because of my curly hair stylist and you, I learned so much about my hair and products that work/doesn’t work on my hair. Because of you my holy grail is also NYMN matcha deep condish! I love how awesome and honest you are. I wish you lived in Florida !! Thank you so much for your videos!! Never stop being you!

Lennox London: I was JUST about to head up to my bathroom to wash my hair perfect timing as always ❤️

I need to try harder. Thanks for the reminder Bianca!

Simone Preiß: I'm so glad that I found you on YouTube. You're such a nice, strong and inspiring woman. I've learning so much from you and still do. Because of your tips my curls look so much better. Thank you so much for your work. Sending much love from germany ❤️.

Callie Smith: Sunday wash day! This video was right on time. Finger detangling for the win!

Brittany Gossard: I am obsessed with not your mothers!! Thank you so much for introducing me to all of their affordable products ❤️

Aaliyah Shabazz: Currently deep conditioning. I recently started using not your mother's conditioners to detangle in the shower and I've been loving the blood orange conditioner. I have to let it sit for a bit but after that the slip is amazing

Julie Bruce: Thank you for saying it’s ok to use a brush! My hair is so fine that when I finger detangle I loose SO much hair and I still have knots Also because of my fine hair I use a deep conditioner first on damp hair (I use a spray bottle) and then I shampoo and condition. I'm mixed and for 19 years, my mom and I have been at a loss of what hair products to get for my hair and how to apply them etc. Even now I'm still learning. I have been getting so many complaints on my hair since using these products and applying them properly (thanks to you, of course). Question tho, my back curls are super tight compared to the front, plus my hair is cut in a bob-ish style... so my back curls don’t fit well into a pineapple . The back curls be all over the place. Any suggestions for sleeping ? Or point me to a previous video. Thanks in advance. :)

cupid: Depending on if the shower head can detach or not, when I shave I take the shower head with me and sometimes wet my hair while shaving so that it doesn’t dry it. That way you can avoid attacking your hair with hot water

lynneve: after 28 years i finally know how to detangle my curls in the shower painfree. i have migraines and trigeminal neuralgia so the trick of just running conditioner through it over and over has changed my whole hair routine and how much pain it causes me.

See G: Hay everyone the best wash day is to put leaving conditioner before you get out the shower while our hair cuticles are still open, for me it’s a life saver x

I literally washed my hair yesterday using NYM TAHITIAN GARDENIA FLOWER AND MANGO BUTTER Shampoo and Conditioner along with my favorite protein deep conditioner from Miche Beauty. I also have the MATCHA GREEN TEA & WILD APPLE BLOSSOM Shampoo, Conditioner, and Mask. I can't wait to try out the mask on my next deep conditioning day. BeachGurl Tarot: You are the queen of my natural hair journey! 6 months without keratin. When are you going to do your own hair care and accessory line? I would buy in a heartbeat!

Manuel Corrales: Hey Bianca Renee and curl friends, so I'm a man with curly hair and I've been watching your videos and embracing more of my curls and all that jazz. Thanks for all you do and your guidance. I do have some questions regarding your wash/upkeep throughout the week: HOW/WHAT do you do to maintain good looking curls when one exercise 5x's a week or at all? I sweat, I get on the floor, my head/hair hits the ground, etc. Do you wear headgear while working out and after a hard workout still wear a shower cap in the shower, then only mildly wetting it while styling? The whole process of day two, day three styles escape me because of all this. I submerge my head in the shower daily because of my life routine but I feel there may be a better solution. Please help!

Dxxx Bxxx: We all have to appreciate the curls God gave us. BRT you have encouraged and made me love my hair and taught me how to manage it., with all the techniques and products you have recommended,Thank you! So I think my hair cant look any better, you come up with more info and products! Love it

Pog Frog: Thanks for the tips! Especially with raking my fingers through my hair so I don't get a center part and making my roots not flat.

Kayla Owens: Apple blossom hair mask is definitely a favorite and I really like their curl cream from the curl y’all line

CuteNobi: My hair is 4c and I also use NYM products such as the Curl Talk dc and Curl Talk Mousse. I use a variety of their other products too. They have clean ingredients and affordable. They also provide good customer service.

Andrea Briseño: Hi Bianca, owww thank you for these amaizing tips! My favorite mask is also the matcha green bottle :)

Jessica Westbrook: Very informative, I've learned so much! Thank you!

talyy: as a curly haired girl, i usually have my hair in braids but I don't really like that style anymore, so I just really wanna try to switch things up and start letting it down, I couldn't do that before but now that I'm older and more responsible I can start taking care of my hair (you know how hard it is to maintain curly hair)

Qimzel: Damn, I just washed my hair will be making notes for the next wash day! Love from Belgium

Jami Johnson: Needed this today! NYM Hair Mask added to my list!

Caragh Dixon: I wish we could get these in Australia! They would be so popular ❤️

Sariah: I love this video thank you so much for the tips!

Yedimil Alvarez: detangling technique must try this week, as always thank you!

C. C.: I have 3b/3c hair and I wash my hair everyday. I just can't do once a week like many of you can. I hate the way my hair smells after one day. I may be able to get away with going one day without washing. Also pineappling doesn't work for me. My curls clump easily. Is there anyone else that is like me? I love the way my hair smells each time I wash or cowash it. I am a wash and go girl. The diffuser makes me hair look too fluffy and frizzy, and less defined.

mikewilson556: @BiancaReneeToday Hi Bianca, which NYM product do you recommend for high porosity hair?

Amy Dunn: Love, love, love your videos, thank you! I notice when in the shower and I finger detangle I’m losing a lot of hair. Even when I’m putting my NYM matcha mask on.....Any tips of how not to lose my hair
