This is a CRUELTY FREE, BEGINNER FRIENDLY, CURLY HAIR ROUTINE ON A BUDGET! None of the products are expensive compared to the other shampoos and conditioners available in the market.

There aren't too many steps and products. All you need is a shampoo, conditioner, a cotton T shirt and a comb. The scalp massaging brush is not mandatory to have. You can just massage your scalp with your fingers. Point is this video isn't too technical or complicated. I remember getting extremely intimidated and confused when I started my natural hair journey. Hopefully this video breaks things down a bit and is easy for you to follow, if you're just starting on your Curly Hair Journey.

Expect your head to feel heavy and oily for the first 2 weeks. Your scalp will adapt and that feeling soon goes away.

A few months ago, my hair looked like this, but now that i know how to take care of it, it looks like this. Okay, if you don't have poke straight hair, then this is the video for you. I started a modified version of the curly girl method and this is what my hair currently looks like. If you want to look at changes that i made to get my hair looking like this, then please keep on watching. Okay. So the first thing that i do is, i use a shampoo that does not have sulphates silicones or parabens and, of course, which is cruelty free because that matters to me a lot okay. So i will shampoo my hair with the wow activated charcoal and keratin shampoo. I will condition my hair with the argan oil shampoo, conditioner, sorry, this is by wow and for hair gel. You can use the wow aloe vera gel. This doesn't give you that great hold. If you're looking for great hole, you can use the enliven hair gel in the keratin variant, so yeah i'll wash my hair, and when i wash my hair, i do not go upside down and you know sort of wash my hair, like that. I just wash my hair standing up because it doesn't have to be that difficult. You don't have to break your back to wash your hair. That'S that's what i learned very early on in the process, so yeah i'll, wash my hair and then i'll condition. Once i condition my hair with the conditioner on i'm going to start combing it out and when i comb it out, i start from the bottom and i work my way to the top till my hair is not free. So once i do that, i'm gon na wash my conditioner off and i'm gon na come back and i'm gon na share the rest of the steps. Okay, so i've hopped into the shower i'm gon na get my hair wet. I'M gon na take some time to make sure that it is sopping wet next, as you will see i'll start with shampoo and for shampoo i'll be using the wow activated charcoal and keratin shampoo, which means protein. Okay, i'm going to focus the shampoo on my scalp and scalp alone, and i'm going to massage it in really getting in there, because this promotes hair growth. Do not underestimate this step. Next up, scalp massaging brush thingy, i'm gon na scrub, massage and brush out my scalp, getting rid of any dirt debris or buildup wash the shampoo off. Can you see that shampoo traveling down the shaft of my hair, which means i didn't need to put shampoo on all of my hair because it would just dry my hair out, and i don't think i'm about that life. So next up my little kittens, i'm gon na use the wow moroccan argan, hair oil conditioner water tongue. Twister focus this on the mid length to the bottoms using praying hands. Whatever i have left on, my hands will go on my roots now with a wide tooth comb, i'm going to start detangling, my hair i'll start at the bottom and work my way up to the top. You can lift your hair a little bit so that you have no pulling and tugging at the crown patience. Ladies patience, this is going to take some time, but you don't want to hurry it up. If you hurry up you're just going to cause hair breakage - and nobody wants that right, so it's very normal to lose hair while you're detangling side note, the average person loses 150 strands of hair a day and you're gon na wash and detangle your hair. What once a week multiply a 150 by seven guys yikes. If at any point you feel like you're having trouble detangling, don't add more conditioner, just add more water anyway, getting back to the point comb, your hair till it is nicely detangled and do not freak out. If you lose hair, okay, just take your time, be patient and comb it out till it's completely, not free. Next, as you'll see, i'm gon na do something that is called squish to condition. So all you're gon na do is squeeze your hair up to the top and you're looking for that. Really nice squishy sound! That'S when you know you're doing it correctly. So yes squeeze your hair in an upward motion and this is going to encourage the curls to form. Lastly, you're gon na want to wash that conditioner off signing off back to you awkward, michelle, okay, so i'm out of the shower and my hair is soaking wet. I haven't done anything uh i haven't used towel a towel is a big no-no. If you have curly hair so yeah watch my hair, i conditioned my hair and then i just detangled and like i said i started at the bottom and now we're here now so yeah. I started at the bottom and i detangled my hair completely on my wet hair, i'm gon na style, a lot of people or style their hair or when their hair is wet. A lot of people style their hair when it is uh just damp. If i don't style my hair, when it is soaking wet, i have massive migraines, so i'm gon na do just that. Now. What i'm gon na do is i'm gon na take my hair and i'm just going to sort of put it into four sections, and i'm gon na take some conditioner again, i'm using the argan oil conditioner from wow and for each section i'm going to use one Full pump now when it comes to quantities, i'm not gon na tell you to use only two pumps of shampoo or three pumps of shampoo or one pump of shampoo. Honestly, you guys do whatever you feel you need for your hair, because our hair lengths will be different. Our hair texture will be different. The amount of hair that you have on your head will be different from the amount of hair that i have on my head, which is why i'm saying you do what you need to do so. Yeah, i'm just going to take the product and i'm going to start at my mid length and i'm going to go to the bottom yeah once i have it through my hair, i'm just going to comb it out so that i distribute the product now with whatever I have left on my hand i'm just gon na reach towards the crown section, but essentially when you're conditioning your hair, it makes no sense for you to put conditioner on your crown, because you need to wash your crumbs focus. Your shampoo on your crown and your conditioner more on your mid length, two ends so yeah. Now that i've done that, i'm just going to go through - and i feel like i have enough product in my hair now on this section at least so i'll go to the back section i'll, take another pump, a full pump of the product and again starting from My mid length i'm going to go down and really concentrate the product here, whatever i have left on my hand, i'm going to put it through my hair and then once again, i'm going to comb my hair so that i distribute the product evenly. I'M sorry! If the audio is not that great, because i have my mic a little far away from me because obviously my hair is wet, i could pin it on to myself. I'M just going to repeat the same thing on this side and basically, what i'm doing is. I'M just raking the product through my hair. There are a lot of terms in the cg method. You have praying hands. You have scrunching i'll, make a video on all of the terminology and everything that you need to know so that you're a little more familiar now. Raking is also good because, essentially you're causing girl clumps, as in the way in which your hair clumps, together in the girl or in the spiral, whatever you have or in the wave. Let'S not forget really girls out there, because i'm also really good yeah and another thing that i want to say is: i do not style my hair without a part, because, generally this is the part that i maintain. So i like to i like to style my hair on a part - i'm i don't sort of you know like style it backwards. I don't think that makes any difference to me because i'm not looking so much for volume, i'm looking for definition in the beginning, you're going to look for definition and once your hair is nice and trained and it does what it what you need it to do. You'Re, probably going to focus on volume, but initially when you're starting off. This is totally fine. In fact, i do as much as possible so that i'm avoiding my back pains so at the end, i'll flip, my hair over, but that's the only time when i'll do that. Now. What i also like to do is i like to take my hair away from my head and i'm just going to comb it and ribbon it out. So you know when you have a ribbon and you sort of take a knife and you pull it through the ribbon so that you know the ribbon curls. That'S essentially what i'm gon na do to my hair and when i do it, i'm going to use vertical sections. I'M not gon na have horizontal sections, because i want to get as many curls out of this one section so yeah just gon na take it. I'M gon na do that again, a vertical section, oh yeah, and when you're, when you're detangling your hair or whatever a comb like this, is really nice because it doesn't have any jagged edges so you're not causing any damage to your hair. And it's really good for detangling as well. I bought this from spencer's. If i can find a link, i think this is from roots, if i'm not mistaken, if i find a link i'll put it down in the bottom box, so yeah i'll just do that. On my entire head and be back so yeah once i've done that the next thing i'm going to do is i'm going to squish to condition i'm just doing this, to encourage my hair to take the form of a wave. This is the only stage when i sort of tilt my hair, the rest of the entire process. I do just standing up, so i'm just squishing my hair to encourage the curls or the waves in my case, i'm 2b, so yeah, i'm just gon na. Do it on both sides now remember when you're doing this, if you see frizz, when your hair is wet, then you're going to see frizz when it is dry and we don't want frizz. Essentially what i'll say to you is embrace your frizz. I don't think it's a big deal. Nobody has perfect frizz free hair, so yeah in the beginning. Don'T worry about the frizz. The frizz is just some hair waiting to find this girl. So the last step, the very last step, i'm gon na i'm gon na look at you know if everything is okay, everything is good. I don't have any frizz on top if i have any flyaways i'll, just sort of put them in place and the last thing that i'll do is i'll. Take the gel and what i'm going to do is i'm just going to glaze it through my head. We call it the praying hands so in the beginning, when i was looking up the curly girl method and watching videos and everything, i always thought they meant praying hands. So i assumed you know like how do you catch your prey? I'M guessing you know your claws. Are out but no it's praying hands anyway. Whatever i'm going to take a gel now, i'm not going to tell you how much gel to use, because your hair is different from mine. All i can tell you is. I am not shy with my gel because i want that hold and the more gel i put the more my hair sort of stays in place, while it's drying so uh, i use a lot of it like a lot of it. This is the only time during the entire method. When i'm going to take my hair, i'm going to sort of flip it around i'm going to take a ridiculous helping of gel i'm not going to lie. I'M not going to tell you that i only use a pinch because i don't i slather it on my hands and then first i touch my hair and then i am just going to glaze the hair from top to bottom now. One final time: i'm going to give it a little squish, because my hair isn't super curly. It is 2b, so i need to do whatever i have to do to encourage the girl. Once i'm done with it, you can see. My part is still intact once i'm done doing all of this, i will plop now i generally plop my hair for 30 minutes no longer, because otherwise, then the waves look all crazy, so yeah, just looking at the frizz patting down all the flyaways okay, so yeah We'Re good now, i'm gon na pluck my hair, take it off and then i'm gon na, let my hair air dry. Now, when i let my hair air dry, i do not touch my hair. I just do nothing at most i'll move my hair from side to side to sort of get some air in inside it, but yeah. I do not touch my hair while it is drying at all i'll, insert some footage of uh. How i pluck my hair right here: okay, so squeeze out excess moisture using a large cotton t-shirt and place the t-shirt on the bed with the collar away from you fold once at the top and twice at the bottom, and then slowly lower your hair into the T-Shirt now i would recommend using an old t-shirt because it's going to stretch out really funny wrap the folded bottom bit around your head by bringing the two ends together and hold it together, so that it's nice and secure keep holding it. Do not let go now bring the folded collar bit to the back of your head. Take the sleeves and secure it in a knot now adjust the front bit so that there's no pulling and tugging you can double knot it if you have any hangy bits, make sure that it's not too tight and lastly serve that kitty cat realness okay. So it's been 30 minutes, it's time to take the hair out of the block, i'm just gon na. Let my hair air dry and for this one stage, i'm not going to let my hair be in a part and periodically i'm just going to switch it from the side to that side, i'm just going to let it air dry and from time to time. I'M also going to take my hair and very gently turn it from this side to that side. So yep i'll be back when my hair is dry. Okay, so i'm back and my hair is completely dry and the gel has left my hair feeling very crunchy, and what i'm gon na do. Is i'm gon na break out the gel cast by scrunching my hair, and we call this scrunching of the crunch. I'M just gon na take my hair. I'M going to keep doing this till my hair feels nice and soft okay. So, as you can see, my hair looks really nice and defined. I'Ve got some volume but, like i said, volume is never really my my concern as long as it doesn't look unruly and i can wear this out and i don't have a problem with it. Then i'm good okay, i thought i'd just insert a line. It'S not that i don't wear my hair in different ways, sometimes i'll just flip it this side, i'll just flip it that side i'll do all of this to make it look like much more voluminous, so yeah, okay, you'll, also see that i can just flip my Hair from this side to that side to make it look like it has a lot of volume, i don't really have to keep it just on the parting that i style it on. It still has a lot of movement. It has a lot of flow, so yeah when i want it to look nice and sort of tamed. That is when i'll keep it on its part, and when i want it to have movement, then i can just flip my head. Ila Gahlot: Hi! I’ve just started out a while back and I’m super grateful for this video. I have a question though, my crown area hair near the roots is SUPER frizzy and does it’s own thing no matter what I do. This makes the entire process feel like absolute waste because no matter how beautiful the length looks, up top it’s always frizzy and neither straight not curly. I’m going to watch more of your videos but I’m asking if there’s any video in particular that would address this ? So I can start with that. If not, then do you have any idea as to what I can do to make it better?

IO: OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE IT I WAS DOING IT WRONG FOR AGES THANK YOU SO MUCH ❤❤

pragati vinerkar: Hey Michelle!!! Again a great video offcourse But in your previous video for beginner you mentioned that we can start with any aloe vera gel n u mentioned 2 products for it the bio organic and the kazima aloe vera gel so we just have to use it the same way as u did with the enliven, as the gel stay on the hair until the next wash ??...bcuz I saw some videos on how to use aloe vera gel on hairs so its like to apply it with oil n then go for a wash after an hour.....so I just wanna confirm it with you!!!

Guddy Lipsa: Hey Michelle I just love love your videos and d way u explain it ...I have just started my curly hair routine earlier I have mixture of 2c-3acurly hair pattern...but after straightening , smoothening , bleaching my hair from last 6-7 yrs and I have cut permanent straight part....now my hair is 2b pattern and very few strands are 2a pattern as well...so after I followed the same flow as u told...but my hair went flat on roots ...my back is curl but got weigh down from roots and look very bad.... Please do do suggest me what I need to do

Amrapali Dasgupta: Am so thrilled to see that there was no heat involved!! Finally I get to try something tat won't damage my hair.. Thanks a ton for the video.. Looking fwd to some more easy-to-do methods!! #curlyhair #noheatcurls #begentletoyourhair #haircare #easyhaircare

Food and Explore: I have been looking for a video and content like this❤️ I started following your steps in washing and styling ❤️ Thanks a lot

Sayani Mitra: Dii.. Thank you so much for making this video... I was so much confused about my hair type...And finally found someone with the Same hair texture as me....♥️ Thanks once again!

TARH YAKE: For my entire life, my curls have been criticised for which I used to be sad and thought of it as ugly, and I've come to youtube to my rescue, and found yours to be helpful. Thanks a lot for sharing this haircare video, it brought life to my curls. I'm no longer called ugly and am really embracing my curls. ☺️❤️

Shivali Wagle: When you leave the conditioner on as a leave-in, doesn't it weigh your hair down i.e make it look oily? Also, can this leave-in method be used with any other conditioner? P.S Thanks for the amazing routine

Ayushi Kulshreshtha: Hey Michelle, i recently saw your video and wanted to try out. I have 2b/2c low porosity hair(very less volume). so I ordered all the products. I used plum shampoo+cond and plum mask for dc, then curl up leave in cream and enliven gel for styling. Now this is my first day o f styling and I tried this method. After air drying, my curls came out to be so bad and somehow my entire hair was so rough . I didnt even want to touch my hair as overall it was so heavy. the curls in front were ok but the crown and back hair had so minimum curls even after so much scrunching. My hair was all rough but it looked so greasy as if I have put so much oil into my hair. I looked so bad spontaneously i combed my hair(ik, big mistake ) but to my surprise, my hair looked better but now more rough. I know this is impatient but my first day went so bad that i dont want to try out. I just want to know what could have gone wrong. Is it i have to put more gel or more water when styling cuz i did do it on damp hair but not put so much water afterwards. or is it a part of transition OR something else. I just feel like giving up. :( I want my hair to be good so bad.

Nivisha Singh: I tried it out and it worked pretty well. thank you❤

Nandified: This is really apt and really helpful. Thank you soooo much for this please continue making informative content for wavy hair, it was a great help

Vinita mathew: Thanks for the video ...this is simple and honest one..not unrealistic thanks ❤️

Ahona Sen: Thanks for the awesome detailing in the video! Was wondering if gel is super important for definition, or can it be skipped?

Ryan Harshith: This method just saved my curls. Thank you so much.

binny12: Very helpful. U have made it really easy to follow, especially after watching all these videos on YouTube, which can be intimidating for a beginner.

Rochelle Laporte: I’m gonna try it out as well. Looks super cool. Thanks Michelle

spikychickify: We have the same hair type! Lovely videos, so informative. Your denman brush review made me think twice about buying one.

Anonymus: Finally found someone having the same hair as mine:- wavy Indian hair. And finally, someone showed Aloe vera gel which I was wondering can be used or not. very helpful one question. you used normal conditioner as a leave-in, wouldn't it ruin the hair? and is the enliven gel paraben, alcohol, silicon free?

Ru S: Showing the entire clip of plopping on your towel and securing it was super helplful cos I had no clue how it was actually done while trying to follow some other videos

Aruna Maddi: You're such a chill person, I like your non- irritating vibe

Thakur Priya: This looks so amazing I am gonna try this

I Kind Of Like Mangoes: I think I finally found someone with the same hair texture as me

Nikita Taneja: Loved this detailed video. Definitely gonna try this, hope it saves my hair. I have some questions- does it stay the same on second and third day? And do you comb your hair if it gets tangeled again?

SURENDRA KUMAR: I'm in love with my hair........ After watching this ❤️

Sara: Hi girl! I am working on creating a tool to allow women to scrunch their hair with less effort. I have a few questions to guide the development of the product 1. I was wondering what your big pain points are when it comes to scrunching hair? 2. On average, how long do you scrunch your hair? 3. Why do you scrunch your hair - how does it benefit your hair? 4. What would you expect from a hair scrunch tool (besides the basic functionality)? You can speak to design, functions, ergonomics etc. Would love to hear everyones feedback!

Valerie Rodrigues: So helpful ❤ Thanks and much love to you

Rohini: Definitely gonna try this out. Got the same hair texture as yours. Thankyou for this.

Poli ghosh: Thanks for the video. It was really helpful. Just a question, do you comb your hair everyday or it's just once a week when you wash your hair. Thanks again!

Indra Dattagupta: Congratulations! Lots of good luck ! I'll have to wait for my hair to grow back to try these suggestions :-)

Cynthia Israel: Very well explained thanks...

Ashi Joshi: Thank you!!! My hair is super weird and frizzy, I think I might have damaged wavy hair, i'm gonna try this. How do you tie your hair when you sleep and do you tie your hair in a ponytail ever (like when working out ) ??

12 Aparajita Paul: Which conditioner are you using as leave in? Can we use the regular one?

sharwari chitale: That was brilliant! Totally gonna try it!

Aisha Ahad: Thanks alot this video really helped me xxx

RyanVPeterson: Hair looking great. Good job ❤️

Abisha Karki: finally found someone with my hair type... I am so glad

Ashley Brown: Hi Michelle! Just wanted to say I love your hair and you're beautiful! Your videos are so helpful and informative I appreciate you so much! Can you please tell me what type of haircut you have? I assume you have layers in it...thanks so much sweetie!

Shradha Singh Deo: I am going to get back to my curls for sure!

Vibha Sree: Would you be able to do a haul from Look fantastic and review about the customs, delivery, quality and the expiry date of the products? Please

gwrp 98: that was really great video and cant wait to try it out! i was wondering if its bad to wash your hair daily? i mean not the whole process of shampoo n conditioner, just normal washing maybe apply oil n then bathe your hair or is that bad for your hair?will it cause more hairfall?

Basabdatta: I purchased this Enliven gel, could you please make a review on it. It contains perfume, which is supposed to dry up the hair. I'm a beginner at at CGM method, could you please say if the product is good for use or not?

Rishav Ghose Chaudhuri: She’s the best at what she does, follow her to get great tips...

Megha Madhusudhan: How long would this last for. ??? Also what would you do while sleeping or just want to put it in a messy bun ?

Moubani Dutta: I have 2 questions. One is do we really need to use satin pillow cover? Second one is I shampoo, once or twice a week, in that case, for the rest of the days how do I keep my hair clean, smooth, healthy looking and frizz free?

Srishti Nagrath: Would it be okay if i use half the amount of the leave in that you used for my low porosity hair? I have same volume as yours

Oindrila Ghosh: Too good!! I will try exactly this and hopefully be able to share the result with you

Vasudha Kamath: Hii really liked the detailed information..and I have tried this method works really well..but the problem is when my hair dries and I have to style it..so I brush my hair out and all the waves in my hair is gone..do u have any tip for this..plz do tell

Manikarnika: Thanks... This is actually my type of hair... Thanks a lot

Srishti Nagrath: Hey I’m also planning to start this modified curly girl routine.. I am really inspired by you and trust you so would begin this way only as youu did.. but i wanted to ask if we can oil our hair in this routine... I do overnight oiling twice a week so can we do like oil hair at night and wash out in the morning and follow by leave in conditioner and gel.. and repeat this routine twice weekly? Will it be okayy to oil my hair which would already be coated with gel? I prepare it mixing coconut oil, olive oil vit e capsule and pure aloevera juice... can I use it or are there specific oils as well to be used in cgm?

Riddhi Beriwala: Congratulations on your channel !!! The video is very informative. How do you sleep with this hair? I mean do you use a silk/satin pillowcase? Also how do you tie it while sleeping?

Manasvi Jain: This was sooo helpful

Roshe123 123: Really informative and nice loved it

# Kashiana: Hi....This video helped me a lot....but I just had a question  Did u use a specific leave in conditioner or a normal one ?

Deepa Shankar: How frequent should we wash and follow these steps ? Like once weekly is enough?

sambugari supraja: @Michelle manuel i usually braid my hair in the process of doing that my ends seem so dull and frizzy.. Should I have a proper hair cut that is for removing all the split ends from my hair and then start the cg method or should I start it without any haircut?

usmc72409: So I decided to try ur whole technique. The only thing I didn’t do is but my hair in a bonnet at night. now looking at my hair on 2nd day it prob would be better if I did. It’s not bad tho I just wet my hands and smoothed it all and slightly recrunched and happy with it. Doing ur hair while it is still extremely wet and using enough product. My hair looks amazing. Clipping the front pieces to they dry in the way I want was such a pro-tip. U are amazing as always!
