Toddler'S Easy Curly Hair Routine Boys | Latoya Ebony

In today’s video I’ll be washing, detangling, and styling my toddler’s curly in this easy hair routine. I’ll include 7 practical tips for mamas and papas too!

I won't lie, doing my son's hair has been a bit of a learning curve. Not only does he have a different texture than I do, he literally doesn't have the capacity to take care of his hair in between styling. That means he doesn't wear bonnets at night (I need to get him a satin pillow case) and his hair stays perpetually dry. I have to refresh his hair with water and moisturizer DAILY.  Keeping up with your child's hair is a job in itself, so I like to keep my child's hair routine ultra simple and easy.

You, like your hair, yeah, Wow, okay, okay, well, you're, messing it up with the brush Halos. Welcome to my sons, curly hair routine in today's video I'll be washing detangling and styling. My toddler's curly hair I'll also be including some practical tips for Mamas and Papas too so stay tuned. This is my son's hair. It'S the end of the week and his hair is pretty dry and tangled, as you would expect from a toddler so outside of turning on the shower. The easiest way I found to wet his hair is to fill a cup with clean water and tip his head back while pouring the water on his hair. Now it takes his hair quite a while to get wet, so I have to do multiple passes and now it is time for the shampoo, so I'm using a detangling shampoo, but I highly recommend trying a tear-free shampoo, just in case it gets in your child's eyes. Thankfully, this has not happened to me, but I do plan on switching over. If any of you have any suggestions of moisturizing tangle free shampoos, let your girl know. Sometimes it gets curious and he likes to touch his hair. I think that's so cute. I also like to keep a towel or a little t-shirt nearby, so that I can make sure a product doesn't get in his eyes. Just anybody else love when their kid looks up at them. I get the feels every single time. Alright, so rinsing my hair can be tricky. I actually have a detachable shower head, not sure why I didn't use it, but if you don't have one, I recommend leading them back and pouring water through their hair. Just like you did the first time applying conditioner is probably the most important step, because this is when I detangle I find it's best to work in smaller sections while holding the roots and raking my fingers through the hair. Now this step it takes a while, but it's necessary and trust your child will probably let you know if it hurts. My son is not shy. Yes, he is definitely alpha. He'S like nah nah, be oh look at his little curls, oh, so he has about three different curl patterns in his head and he actually has a strip section in the back middle of his head that doesn't really curl at all. This is why I prefer to use my fingers to remove tangles and knots with a comb, it's difficult to feel where the hair can pull and with my fingers I can be a lot more gentle and cause less breakage rinse. The conditioner out, swivel chairs, are incredibly helpful for positioning a child's head during styling, so all right, what you're gon na do is you're gon na get a toy a game, a snack, something to keep them occupied. My son likes to eat. So here's what you'll need a light to medium gel jelly or custard, a leaving conditioner and a spray bottle on deck use that spray bottle to re-wet the hair. If it gets dry now, first apply the leave-in conditioner and make sure you get to the roots as well. Now use your fingers to section off a small section of hair. It'S gon na be so much easier to work in smaller sections. It'S so much more effective. Then use a clip to keep the additional hair out of place and then just take your fingers and break it through each section. Until you get all of the tangles and knots out next layer, your medium hold styler on top of the leave-in. Now I'm going to keep this part in real time so that you can follow what I'm doing, I'm simply raking the product through the hair gently depending on the density or some would say thickness of the hair. You may need to use more or less product. So just keep that in mind when you're working with your particular child's hair. This part is optional, but you can try using a diamond-like brush to get the curls to clump. Just make sure that you use the other hand at the roots so that you don't pull the hair out now this time around, my son was not having it. This brush tends to pull much harder than using my fingers and he was like nanana. No, no mommy nope, so here's the results from a previous time when I used the brush the horn on the bus goes B. To be perfectly honest, I prefer using my finger. It'S much gentler, it's much faster and my son prefers it now. If you end up using your fingers, you will get a little less definition, so, if you're cool with that, I think that it's a good option again miss the hair when it starts to get dry. Please don't try this on dry hair, it's most likely going to cause a lot of pain and frustration for both you and your child natural hair when styling it's just best when it's moist and you're just going to repeat the previous steps and small sections all over The head now, sometimes after detangling, I still find more knots. That is the reality of having an active child for most of us, so he actually gets more nodding on the looser pattern hair than anywhere else. My hair is similar because these strands are typically a little finer now many times the cause of this nodding is shed hair or, in this case, a piece of lint that has wrapped its way around his strands. Yes, he tends to rub his head in his pillows and sheets, and you know this is just the reality of having natural hair if you don't cover it up at night. So this section of hair is a lot drier and it doesn't curl as easily. So I typically have to go a little heavier with the product application so that I can get a somewhat uniformed result and that's my toddler's washing go curly, hair routine, now stay tuned because i'll show you how i refresh it in the morning now. My son will not keep a headscarf on at night, so typically, I have to chase him down with the spray bottle of water and apply a spray oil on top. Then I fluff his hair and he's ready to go so that's it. I love you guys check out my videos on the right-hand-side binge watch and I will see you in a few days.

Pursuit of Blyss: Lil handsome just living his best life splashing in the water while you’re working on his head.

Mel C: He's so adorable. I'm watching and I thinking of the troubles I have doing my 16month old hair. Wet and dry texture is so crazy. Thanks for sharing

McKia Jones: Thank you for this!! For some reason it is SO hard to find hair routines for toddler boys. And it certainly doesn’t help that my 2year old son has type 4a & 4b hair COMPLETELY different from me and my 2 daughters 4c hair! I need a whole different routine just for him. His hair is constantly in protective styles. I use to make the mistake of letting him wear and Afro (well call the exorcist after that!!!) and thankfully his gotten somewhat use to wearing a durag.

Amun Omar: HE SO CUUUTEEEE. Sthap, this too much, omg my heart! <3

JessieBanana: Lol, I'm so terrible. My toddler's curly hair routine would probably be called clippers, boy or girl.

I’m a new subbie and I have a 3 year old boy with beautiful brown curls.... that I had cut off because I didn’t know how to maintain it this is so motivating and now I want to let him grow it out! thanks for sharing this beautiful boy with us!! So glad I found you! ❤️❤️

Jessica Virgo: Omg I LOVE! His hair looks like my son's hair. My son has some serious 4c hair and his coils are beautiful! I'm struggling with maintaining moisture inbetween wash days. I also noticed that he needs conditioner that I use for good moisturizing and slip during detangling.

Royal_Kira: He is absolutely adorable, you are blessed! Your son and I have the same patch of dryish hair that does not curl - mine is in a similar spot too . It’s one reason I always stretch my hair, otherwise that patch sticks out! My favorite part is where you are chasing him with the water and oil What type of oil do you have in the spray bottle?

Certainly Cinda: He is so gorgeous!

Jaszy4Life: He’s a very patient little guy. Sooo cute!

Brown Mama Lifestyle: He is such a handsome little guy. Great tips! I’ll be using these with my son.

Haley Huff: So happy I found your video! I live in the type 3 curl world, but my recently adopted toddler sister has type 4 hair. Do you ever deep condition your son's hair? What age do you think is appropriate to start deep conditioning?

kesha jay: He is so adorable with all of that thick beautiful hair

Yalana Allen: OMG!!!!! HE'S SO CUTE!!!! I want one... I think!! Lol

Wana Zoe: I finally found a hair twin your son is my hair twin

Monique McCoy: Your baby is soooo adorable. ❤️

Neurotika__: Oh no. NO MA’AM. You are not about to make me squeal out loud. Not today! Nope. He is too damn adorable. My son inherited my curls and now that he’s almost 4 his hair (when wet) reaches Halfway down his back. When it’s hair wash day this is a very similar routine for us. Granted his hair is more 2c (mine is closer to 3a) it’s a process. His daddy let him fall asleep with a bun the other night and girl.... He had dreadlocks the next day. I’m not joking. He had two massive matted locks in the back of his head the next day. We gonna have to wet/brush and style on days between washes. Otherwise people are gonna think my kid is feral.

Leah Michelle Williams: What a beautiful little boy! I'm in love!!! Thank you for sharing your family with us, for we do not deserve you

Lurleen Francis: He's such a cutie and well behaved.

Blkbeautee: He is so cute! Looking like his beautiful mommy!

enaruvie: He is so cute., and such a good little boy and yes it is lovely when they look up at you. Mine don’t anymore , because now I look up at them as they are much taller than me. My son loved/loves to eat too. He hated hair day and screamed through it. He 18 and still remembers (he begged me to cut his “girl hair” when he was four I caved). I know you have heard this already so I’m not even going to be original cherish these moments. I really miss the squirmy curious little bundles of love that are babies. Time flies really quickly. You did a fantastic job. Well done mummy (and daddy I see how he sang to your son for photo opportunity) #teameffort

R.: Omg he's adorable!!! And he looks just like you!

MrsPerry516: Im a year late but i use the mielle with the pomegranate in it. Definitely detangles and moistures

Jazmynn Montanez: My youngest daughter (3) gives me me the most trouble when it comes to washing her hair. She has 3a hair like my husband. Our oldest has 3b hair, the middle has 3c/4a type hair. What I do is wash her hair in the sink. She screams bloody murder when I try to wash her hair in the tub lol. I notice that Aussie works for all of the girls, so I stick to that brand. Her hair comes down to her little derriere, so I use a wide tooth comb (same with my older daughters. It's a whole lots hair in this house lol). Because she's like thr little baby from the movie, Croads, I just put her hair in plaits. She's my wild child, so I have to wash her hair at least every three days. If I don't Lord know what I'd find (last night it was rice...pray for me) Your baby so soon adorable! Hubby and I are planning baby #4, I'm hoping for a boy

Gabby: His hair is really long wow so pretty Do you do cornrows and such in his hair? Like to protect it sometimes

Olá Ananás: Omg, his cute face good job momma
