So two of the criticisms that I hear the most on this channel as I talk too much and that I waste water both are true, but I only care to fix one of them. So you all can think my friend Dominique aka powered ami for introducing us to the ball method. So the bowl method is essentially a method of styling. Your hair soaking wet using the ball to catch water and product. So you don't waste any. You don't lose any, and then you can also kind of use the water in the bowl to fully coat all your strands. You making sure that everything is evenly coated. So I'm also going to mix this with ultimate hydration, which is also using a bowl, but instead of using your styling products, you're just going to use the conditioner, you apply it in the shower and water and you're, essentially going to use the water to dilute the Conditioner still leaving some in, but really ultimately getting your hair super hydrated. So that's what we're gon na do today and I'm gon na walk you through the process. It'S easy! This should be a quick video and there you go. I just realize you can see my trash can in the back, I'm not really shooting all that, luckily, its empties. What I did in the shower was cleanse. Obviously - and I shampoo my hair just like most of you - shampoo your hair and then I applied the curl conditioner focused on my ends, then I left it on. I did not rinse it out and then I flipped my hair over put on a shower cap and I have been wet flopping with the blue clam conditioner in my hair, so in Dominique's bowl tutorial she wet pops afterwards. I can't leave my hair soaking wet for that long. Otherwise, I'm just not going to be able to get it off of my scalp, so I figured I would use the wet popping on the front end we're gon na start with ultimate hydration. This is super easy. All you need is the bowl, a cup of water. You can also do this in your shower. It'S actually easier to do in your shower, I'm just out here for demo purposes. So all we're going to do take a cup of water and we're going to pour a little bit over our head. Then we are going to squish want to hear that sound aren't familiar with the term squish to can dish. It is a way to get moisture up under tightly laid cuticles aka. It'S wonderful for all my low porosity, Curly's, so you're, essentially just pushing water where the conditioner was so then you can scoop up this water, so it's still conditioner water and continue to squish. The point is not to rinse out the conditioner, it's essentially to dilute it to get your hair super moisturize, but don't be afraid to just dip your hair back into it and you're just gon na keep going until you don't feel any chunks or thickness of conditioner. On your head or scalp, and until your hair feels like seaweed seaweed feeling of your hair is the ultimate goal, I'll be afraid to add more water. If needed, you see a lot of like small clumping in my hair and no big clumps, and that is because of how it's cut. So don't think that this is making my hair stringy. This is how I wanted my desired. Clumping is smaller curls. When my hair does not have all of the individual cutting around my entire head, I've got bigger clumps, I'm gon na do one last dunk dunk dunk, getting it everywhere, and luckily I have a big shower. Also, you should not see any frizz. If you see any of the individual strands kind of out here, this is where my grades are at and they always kind of come out. So it's a little deceiving for me, but you really should not see any frizz like you should see perfectly smooth curls and if you are not experiencing that, then keep squishing. I thought so what we are going to do next is: we are going to start with the bowl method for adding stylers. So first thing, I'm gon na. Do I'm gon na get rid of this water, so we are going to reuse a lot of what is in our hair. So, as you can see, my hair is soaking. Wet still dripping now, it's time to add some gel going to add a decent amount, because it's in a wild lifestyle wet - and I just feel like it so something I've seen. Donnie do is kind of separate and squeeze it again when you're squishing. You want to hear that sound. Another thing that army does is to really make sure the product is dispersed, is spray. The hair down, make sure again it's nice and soaked. Then we are going to scrunch again, not only the water but then also the excess. Gel is falling into the wool, so I'm going to add just a little bit more water to this, because there's not a ton kind of mix the gel around and then we're going to do a dip of our hair in the bowl on each side. And this just ensures that it's completely evenly coated. Oh my grades on the front I'm just going to the lake gently grab the tips of the curls and kind of direct the Grays, where I can back in now, I'm going to scrunch around my head and I squeeze a little bit harder to force. Some of the water out hair gets way down, really really easy. So, although I just added everything to soaking wet, I am now going to do everything I can to get the excess water out so that my hair does not get way down. So for those of you that like and need the excess moisture, this is weird actually what pops her hair, so you can wet pop leave it up for a few minutes. Let your hair so give that actual moisture and product in your curls up taking all the weight off of them, so you actually get some formation in your curls. For me, what I'm going to do is I'm going to squeeze out that excess moisture as much as possible with my hands and then I'm going to use a towel really quick before I use the towel to still make sure that all of my hair is pulled Away from my scalp and doesn't dry flat, obviously moving my head side to side and around helps a lot. But the last thing I like to do is take my fingertips and just gently: go in and lift up at the scalp in and lift up and you're. Just gently guiding the roots away. I think people call this micro plopping right, so we're gon na scrunch up to our head, hold it on our head, get out the excess moisture. Then I'm going to go a little bit at my roots again. This will help with volume. So here's what my hair looks like now, that styler is in so now I am literally just going to air-dry tell him about 80 90 percent of the way dry. Then I'm going to diffuse into him a hundred percent dry dry root clip want that tutorial down in the description. I'Ll drive you a clip for about 10 to 20 minutes. Then i will fluff and check back in with you. So you can see final results right. Seen a bit so we're all done, my hair looks pretty freakin amazing. I was a little nervous. It'S been a while, since i styled my hair soaking wet. Probably since last summer it's been a while and I'm actually really surprised. I'M surprised with how much like volume. I have and how, like thick and full my hair fills and how much definition I there's a teeny bit of frizz up top. That could either be from the fact that I didn't add any conditioner to my roots and I probably need it a little bit and I also diffused on on some warm air just for a little bit. My hair was taking too long. It dry, whoo-hoo ultimate hydration. I'M definitely trying the bowl trick again. That'S part about both of the processes is that you can use whatever you have at home. That works for you. So that's the best part. So have you tried even of these? Have you tried ultimate how to hydration? Have you tried the bowl method? I would love to hear definitely comment down below, so, if you do it and post it on Instagram, make sure and use tinel's got my curls or tag me or both, so that I can see it would absolutely love to see your results with one or the Other or both of the methods and again a super special. Thank you to my girlfriend Dominique for introducing this bowl method. It'S not a new method, but the way she explains and demos things on her Instagram makes things so easy to pick up and learn. My name is Janelle, we do all things curly and then some, if you haven't already go slam that subscribe button, help me help. Okay, I know

Honeyball: This is nearly that, what I do to my 2 times bleached straight hair and it feels like a fluffy soft ball of perfect hair.... and it is 2 time bleached so it is super damaged... xD I don't get curls, only waves, but... my hair feels sooooooo good for days. Thanks for your video!!

Nikki Paré: I spent my whole life listening to people tell me I talk too much. Now my 13 year old experiences the same thing. I will tell you the same thing I tell her, and what I wish someone had told me as a child: You will be too much for some people. Those are just not your people... I think you are absolutely lovely and I am so glad to have found your channel. And I hope nobody ever tries to silence your advice, no matter how little it means to them. It is excellent! You are very smart.

Piggy Sister: I commented earlier saying I was about to try this and I'm feeding back several washes later to say THANK YOU, you have changed my world! I had never previously found a way to stop my hair, which looked great when wet, turning into a frizz ball that my partner referred to as my Lion mane when dry. I now have defined, shiny spirals and waves. I have modified the technique slightly to do it in the shower for speed and less mess but it is still your technique. Thanks again for the video.

Jessica Badders: I seriously gasped when it went from your wet head to dry style. Stunning! Hair goals for sure!! Mine looks similar to yours wet so I may shoot for a shorter cut and try this method.

Amé Duguay: I tried it, and this is a TOTAL game changer! I just started the cgm (2 months ago), and when I tried this I discovered that I have in fact curly hair, not only wavy. Thank you so much, I will definitely use this method a lot in the future!

Julianna Cesario: I imagine this being a good idea to do even for a cold hair wash... when you don't want the rest of your body freezing

belle_natural: I'm type 4 and I did this for the first time today. Game changing! My curls are so defined and elongated. I have so much movement.

Are: THANK YOU for addressing the water waste comments. Our planet appreciates it. And so do we. This was a great video! Thanks for showing this method I will definitely try it on my next wash day. and keep talking THIS much, that's why we like this channel :D

DD Tuss: When I was a little girl my mom would mix conditioner and water in a plastic bowl she would dip my ends in the bowl then pour it all over my head. After rubbing it around she would pour more water over to rinse. I think my mom invented the bowl method

The Worried Mom: You rock Jannelle! I have been following the CGM for about a month and your what to do video was most helpful and straightforward! I have been doing the bowl method since your first video and frizz wise it is a game changer! Keep up the great work. Awesome content.

Cazzie poo: Wow this method is amazing! It makes my hair so soft and hydrated and my 2c/3a curls much more defined and definitely more 3a; am actually in love with how beautifully curly my hair is ❤️ have had so many compliments on my hair since I started washing it this way x

Serra Bird: OMG just how ridiculously gorgeous are you?! I love this tutorial, thank you so much for the detailed explanation as I’ve never got it completely right before, but this and the other video about roots helped A LOT

soilofk: I realized how much work it is to have curly hair!!!

Karin McGill: This worked so well for me! I was about to give up on CGM and the bowl method is just what I needed to finally achieve seeweed hair. Thank you!

Aitza Galarza: Thank you for making this video! I am starting my curly journey and this video helped me understand better the "squish to condish" methodology and the bowl method, which I think will be better for me. You DO NOT talk too much!!! All your comments and discussions are on point and very appropriate to understand what you are doing. Keep up the good work!!!

Bitten Apple TV: Thank you for the thorough explanation!. I love watching all of these tutorials but i feel like you explained it so well that I can understand the terminology of managing curly hair. I’m subscribing!!!

Madelyn Gatteri: I’m so glad YouTube is getting with the program and recommending these types of videos to me. I just learned that my hair is wavy and has more curl potential, so this is super helpful! I’ve never been good at moisturizing my hair so hopefully this helps my hair

French Fry: I know this is a year old, but I just wanted to say that your results in this video are amazing! Your hair looks beautiful!

Devin Mintz: I love you, thank you for taking the time to show us all this amazing curly stuff !! One question— my hair always seems to be weighed down no matter which product or how much I use. I haven’t had a haircut in ~8 years or a trim in about ~5 years. Do you think this could be my issue? My hair is just so flat and not voluminous AT ALL ever!! I miss my curls!:( Do you think going a bit shorter will help? I don’t want to be as short as you , although you look stunning with your style, it wouldn’t look good on me ! Lol ! Any tips or thoughts are much appreciated

Jasmine Rios: You do an excellent job of explaining why each step is important and demonstrating how to do it! Keep up the great work! ❤️

BA Shane-Holser: I love when the roots of my hair are a little frizzy for volume and the ends are defined and shiny. Your hair looks great! And I agree with the others here who don’t think you talk too much - your comments and discussion are on topic. & relevant. Go curly girls! LOL

Tianna Huber: Oh my gosh it looks amazing dry!!! I've been on my curly hair journey for about two months now and my hair looks identical to yours when soaking wet but I don't get anywhere near the amount of volume or curl pattern even with wet ploping.

M J: Great video! Love this method and trying it this weekend. I have always been concerned about water conservation (and my water bills!). Your hair looks absolutely gorgeous. Have a beautiful week and thanks for showcasing this method

Elizabeth Harrison: I love this it’s made a real change in my curls, I don’t have the patience to use the bowl tho and just do it while I’m in the shower but it’s made a massive difference x

ilight11il: I tried this and got so many compliments on my curls! Thanks for this video.

Cindy Cruz: I've been going through the transitioning stage for the past year or so, before trying this my hair pattern was 2b -2c and couldn't control the frizzies . I recently tried this method and it has been a game changer my curls are way more defined less frizz yay. I have noticed that my hair curl pattern since doing this method is sitting between 2c-3a thank you!!!

Marcia McDevitt: This is the first video of yours I’ve watched, and I am SO EXCITED to see someone who does their curly hair very similarly to how I do it!!! My curls are a little tighter than yours, but I only ever see curly girls on YouTube who do craaaaazy fancy complicated methods. AIN’T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT!! You seem so normal and down-earth, I love it. Subscribing for sure! ❤️

Dezi Does It: this came out so good! you're making me want to take my time with my styling/conditioning next time!

Julia Maregedze: Love your curls! :) I'm curly too, but have finer hair so they don't look as voluminous. I did notice a big difference when I started putting oil in my hair while hair was completely wet, as you show it. *thumbs up* :D

Haley Burton: I would just like to say thank you for making this. I haven’t been able to figure out how to do my curls and this seriously helped!! I always thought my hair had more curl to it and didn’t know how to make it appear and this has shown me how:) thank you thank you thank you

Shondia Evans: Wow... just Wow! Your hair looks beautiful and love the curl definition. Will be trying the bowl method today! Thanks and keeping talking! We need your words of wisdom.

Jennifer Alaniz: This was a great video. I tried this method and I was shocked at how well it works. My curls are hydrated and almost zero frizz. Going to try it again tomorrow after I get home from the gym. Happy with my curls. Thank so much for sharing.

NormaKin: This video was a complete game-changer for my curly hair. Thank you so much!

rebecca williams: I love you chatting away!!! I've never understood people complaining about long or chatty videos, part of watching the youtuber is for their personality and you have a great one. Keep doing your thing!! And your hair looks amazing. I must try this xx

Jenn W: I just recently found your channel. I love your energy and personality. My hair was straight for over 30 years, then just started growing in curly. The back is really curly, but the rest seems less curly. I love curly hair, but I'm lost! Can't wait to watch more on your channel!

Our Healing Abode: This year I’ve been on and off of the cgm. I like styling my hair in different ways, plus I couldn’t get over the frizz and clumping was not happening. I got frustrated. Recently, I realized my problem was lack of moisture in my hair. I just tried this today the day after deep conditioning and holy moly!!! My hair clumped together and almost no frizz!!! I’m so excited, thank you so much!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️

April B.: Your hair looks beautiful. My hair is thick, curly and coarse and it’s also colored. I don’t see myself doing this method. Seems too time consuming for me personally. My hair is pretty dry from the chemical color. I’m hoping that getting a trim soon will help. Have you tried Innersense hair products?

Shelby Marie Makes: OMG! Your results seriously exceeded my expectations!!! Your hair is stunning! I am definitely going to try the bowl method!

Spoonie Beauty: Love your hair! Could you do a video on covering stubborn greys with curly hair? Going grey super young sucks and it’s soooo hard to cover with curly hair in between colors especially on dark hair. My natural color is jet black, so the white sticks out! Lol

Beth Psaila: I watched this video when it was first uploaded and immediately decided I was going to give it a go. close to two months later and I'm absolutely loving it! I do have a question though- despite the gorgeous clumps I get and the fact that I can feel my hair is super moisturised (and I spend ages squishing in my conditioners and stylers) I do still get some frizz while I'm doing this method. my hair in general is suuuper frizzy and I havent been following the curly girl method for that long (about 10 months) so I'm wondering if it's just because my hair is still transitioning and isn't at its healthiest yet? or if there are any tips you can give me on that front? sorry for the long comment!

Chris Foster: Holy hell! Your "after" shot blew me away. You explained things really well and cleared a TON of details I wasn't sure about. Thank you!

Mariel H: A bowl! Genius! I just did this over the sink after showering with only the conditioner I used in the shower, I only rinsed out a small amount. I didn't apply gel, just plopped with a t-shirt and am sleeping with that on my head. Can't wait to see how my curls turn out!

Kim Nixon: First video of yours I've watched, I'm in love. ❤ Totally trying this on my low porosity hair tomorrow morning.

C Land: Never heard of the bowl method but your curls look awesome!! What are you going to do when your hair is 50%+ gray hair? That is what I'm dealing with but it's ok, I actually have gray waves & curls!! It's looking better than I ever thought it would!

Angelica Renae: My hair is a lot like yours just thicker and I recently got it cut around the same length so I am going to try this soon! I definitely don't think you talk too much, you thoroughly explain what you're doing and I love it! Just gained a new subscriber!

Zenia Rodriguez: You don’t talk too much. You are very thorough. People don’t know what to yap about anymore. Do what is best for you since you pay your water bill and not them. Also I love your videos. I have extreme long curly hair and when I was younger I loved doing my hair now that I’m 32 it’s a drag. Any way keep up the with the amazing tips. ❌⭕️❌⭕️

Katelyn Jacobi: For some reason I have never been able to wrap my head around "squish to condish", but the ultimate hydration thing makes a lot more sense in my brain lol. Thanks!!

Natalie Onwe: I absolutely love watching hair tutorials or hair videos it’s amazing what people can do with their hair and also a different tricks and ideas and it gives you ideas what you wanna do with your hair it’s absolutely amazing!!

Angela Mager: Thank you so much for showing how you pick your hair up off the scalp. That’s been such a challenge for me. Usually just rely on clipping the roots, and fluffing, but I really can see how that will help!

Lindsay Manzella: Thank you for this video! You explained it really clearly, and I loved how you referenced the original video (which I saw) because it helped me understand better rather than getting me more confused. :) Off to wash my hair!

cattyn20: I started the cgm 18 months ago. When I started i had amazing results, might have been because I've never died or straightened my hair. The last 7 months I've only been able to get maybe 2 hours out of my hair before it decides to go horribly frizzy and unsavable. I tried many things, but nothing worked for me. I then remembered someone posting something about a bowl method and it led me here. I've tried it once for a wash and partly for a refresh, so far it's looking promising and my curls are holding better. THANKYOU

Krystle R: Your hair is like mine! Thank you so much for your channel... It's so encouraging since my hair behaves almost exactly like yours and I've struggled for so long with it I don't think you talk to much at all! Your videos are hair-life changing

Brandi Munguia: You’re hair looks permed because the curls are all so perfect and uniform! I really hope I can get my hair to that point.

Cheryl Keck: Ok so I just tried this out in the shower and I got so much water up my nose!! so my technique needs refining but my curls look awesome and super hydrated and shiny. I used a lightweight conditioner and watered it down as my hair gets weighed down easily. Love your videos!

Tasj137: I think you're hilarious and very informative! Thank you so much for explaining everything, so I can understand my curly hair (journey) better. By the way I love the consistent dog noises in the background :D i'm gonna try this tomorrow :)

Arunita Ghoshal: I have been doing this since 2-3 years. It's easier to do in the shower. It's an awesome method.

Brandee Mandell: I’ve been using this method for over 10 years minus the bowl! You did a great job.

jeffsycks: OMGosh! I LOVE watch in’ you dip your long gorgeous dark curly hair! And I LOVE those curly results!!! Love the final volume and style!!

Samantha Saunders: awesome video! Can't wait to give this a go! Love all your videos Janelle!

Kathy ONeil: Love your tips for getting volume. I'll definitely be trying them. Thank you.

Celina Laidi: Omggg the final result your curls are goals !!! I have to try this method so so bad !!!

Demi: my back could not handle this method, I’d be stuck hunched over

lauren Garrison: I used this method for refresh and I got amaze balls results! Love all your advice and recommendations!

Kelsey K.: This worked great on my curls! Thanks for posting this video!

Heather Mercado: You always look amazing my curls are coming along so thank you so much!

frenchie girl in the usa: I just subscribed to your channel. OMG, your hair is beautiful. I used to have curly hair until I did the unspeakable. Yes, I did a relaxer and I regret it ever since. Now its a journey to going back to curly hair. I do hope my curls will come back.

hipretty: Simply gorgeous curls!! No I have never tried this! But I will!

michelle: Just got out the shower doing this (literally in my towel as I’m typing) and I loooved it so much I felt like such a hippie!! Added a teeny splash of apple cider vinegar to the water aswell to lower the ph and close the cuticle

moon: THANK YOU so much for your videos ❤️your tips and comments are really helpful! I‘m definitely going to try this method

Trinilisa1970: TRANSITION GAME CHANGER - Cannot say thank you enough for posting this technique. I am just 3 weeks into my journey and this is the only technique I’ve tried that makes me proud of my curls.

Alex S: I've been pretty low maintenance with my hair recently, but i definitely want to make time to try this Also i don't think you talk too much, i think you do a great job of explaining thoroughly which i appreciate so that we aren't left confused with a million questions. I hope i don't come off condescending or anything i just think that maybe a lot of people have a lower attention span nowadays. And maybe the people who are just figuring out how to take care of their hair get overwhelmed at all the information ‍♀️ just my 2 cents

Truma Echo Harris: I just used your video to try this method ! My hair is drying so I’m not sure of the end result , but so far my curls have clumped much nicer than usual and I can tell there are are drying more like ringlets than usual. I couldn’t get rid of the frizz though, and I haven’t been able to with any technique. Did I maybe need to use more conditioner? I kept going like you said but after 10 minutes of bending over a bowl I gave up and decided just to see how it turned out. Any thoughts?

Kristina and the German: Lovely hair! Must try for my occasional tumbleweed tresses. Thank you!

tdrmn: Omg, I just found my curly hair twin!! My hair is exactly the same curl pattern and length, minus the greys. This is exciting and I don't even know why

zourdoudaki: I can't get enough of this video... I keep watching it over and over... :) Kudos!

Claudia Bonilla: Thank you for the great content! Keep doing what your doing, I love you! Your happiness is undoubtedly true and it makes me feel happy! ❤

Caitlin Sampson: Your hair is amazing. This is hair goals!!!! I need to learn how to make my curls better.

Kristi Maier: I follow you on insta too and I do this with great success even though it’s a bit time consuming. However EVERY time I do it with my leave-in, I’m asking myself why I’m basically squishing out my leave-in? Most instructors say put leave-in on damp hair. So far it does work so

helllooo: I did this yesterday and am okay with the results. I should have rinsed more of my conditioner out, because my curls are defined and soft, but there’s no volume. Trial and error but thank you! My curls really needed some hydration and I’ve realized that I don’t need as much gel as I thought!

rachaelcpr: Yes! I tried it and I LOVE IT. I AM SO HAPPY THAT YOU SHARED THIS! this is a complete game changer a

PilaPerea48: I finally have a day off from my kids and get to play with my hair. I'm going to try the bowl method and drying method you mentioned. P.S. I like your grays.

Sara Allen: Lady, you are so freaking cute! Love your curls! I’m not that curly but I’m definitely trying this!

Lu De Marco: OMG I didn't know about this method and I LOVE IT!! I gonna do it in my next wash <3<3

Monica Harasti Realtor: Thank you for this video. My hair is loving this method❤️❤️

K Sannini: Amazing!! I’m looking forward to trying this! Thank you xx

Hannah Acevedo: Omg her hair is amazing these are my curl goals ❤️

Eve Oakley: Your hair is fabulous. I always wanted curly hair. My hair was my best feature in the 80s, dark and very thick, but to achieve your look I used to have to have it permed. Luckily it curled well because it was thick and strong.

Lauren Reilly: Perfect hair; starts with a zala, and results in hair GOALS like this.

Rose from UK: I finally know why I am squish to condishing!! I have done this instinctively for at least the past 25 years, I know why it is good now though lol

Kathryn: Your hair looks fantastic here. I'm going to try this.

Shira Haid: Girl, I have so many questions. I have long 2c/3a hair. A lot of frizz and uneven curl pattern (although that could be due to my self-inflicted quarantine cut...) My hair journey is quite frustrating and I need all the help I can get! 1. How often do you do the bowl method? 2. Just to clarify; 1st bowl is just water and your conditioner, 2nd bowl is water and styling product(s)? 3. I've read about the "praying hands" to apply product. Is that not a thing anymore? 4. What order do I apply the cream, gel, and leave-in conditioner? (Maybe I'm using too many unnecessary products?) 5. How do you refresh curls for the following days? Do you re-wet the hair and do the bowl method again? 6. How long do you wet plop before rinsing out?

Bianca Jingles: Your grays look so cute in your hair! I have a bunch coming from one spot on my head so sometimes I’m lucky and they get clumped into one fat curl so they’re not sticking out of my head lol

Peggy Cullen Fuchik: Your video is great. You absolutely crack me up! I was LOL as I watched this when you first dumped your head in the bowl and when you threw the water against the shower call. You keep it so real - thanks!

S Pieterman: Oeh I'm totally going to try it! I only did the bowl method once but that was with rice water. I thought it would be a hassle but it wasn't really. Just wasn't sure where to put the bowl hahaha. On an unrelated note, I think I finally found out about my porosity. And that's it's low. I tried the S2C on my last wash day and my curls are so much tighter! I knew they could be like this, they just didn't want to. I was so happy that after months of trying I finally realized what I was doing wrong. I was doing everything for high porosity hair because I've been using so much sulfate so and silicones and my hair was always that dry but ITS LOW POROSITY! I'm so happy to finally have found out, also thanks to your videos. I always thought that with my "high" porosity hair I wouldn't need to try it even, but I was soooo wrong. So many frustrating wash days could have been prevented....
