Guys so in this video I am sharing with you. What I do when my hair is extremely tangled and matted, when I need to moisturize my hair and get those knots out. So if you are interested make sure you continue to watch, because this video is chock-full of tips and tricks on how to detangle your matted hair okay, so this is kind of what my hair is looking like. Now that I've taken it down, it's not horrible. When I did this video the last time - and this is leading me to my first tip, my video did the last time people are like your hair's. Not even tangled is not very matted, I'm sharing with you the techniques and using my hair as a demonstration, because my first tip is don't allow your hair to get that bad to where it's a big frizzy matted ball. If you're there already it's. Okay, it's okay! I'M going to help you, so my first tip is not to let your hair get that bad. Okay, but let's say you did because that's probably why you're on this video, the first time I've shared this before and every time I share it, people are like wow. That'S like a game-changer. I didn't really realize that so it's to finger detangle your hair, while it's dry, okay, because when you wet your hair, it really really clumps the hair together and the hair becomes like one where you can easily separate it when it's dry. Okay, so how you kind of Wow? Okay, so back here, it's a little crazy! Simply you guys to finger detangle. What you want to do, ideally, is start from the bottom and separate your hair. Yes, when you do this, your hair is going to get frizzy, but it's okay, because actually, when your hair is wet, it's a little bit more fragile and you don't want your hair to break and when you are detangling your hair and let's say you, let your Hair get really bad you guys it can cause some damage. So just you know be gentle if you have an area that is bad, which is kind of underneath area, for me is where it gets pretty bad. So what you can do is take any oil. You have a kitchen oil, any oil, olive oil, coke oil or, if you have a hair serum like I have here, the pure regrowth serum from crow mix. This is the hemp seed oil in the hair growth formula, any oil you have. You can put that on your hair on your dry hair you're, not waste, raising you're, using the oil to help you detangle, okay, because you don't want to add water, like I said, use an oil and it'll help you break apart. Your hair and you'll be surprised. You might have a huge and matte, but really least once you break it down, get into there. The matte isn't that big. For me personally, I just like to get out the big knots that I know are going to be a problem later, so I'm gon na get in the back of my head back here where I have some knots and some mass in the back of my head. I'M going to just finger detangle those out and if I need to, I will use some more oil now my next tip. I know some of you aren't going to really Mike, but I'm just going to be honest with you. If you find that your hair gets tangled a lot and it's almost hard to manage, because it's so tingly I were to re-evaluate when was the last time, you've had a trim. Sometimes, if your hair is dry and matted at the ends, it will be because you have some damage you need to cut out. You need your fresh ends, your hair, it's usually from me. Definitely a sign of a trend is needed. I know some of you aren't going to like that, but it's very important that you take care of your hair, so that could be the culprit as well. Also make sure you guys are protecting your hair when you're sleeping when you're lying around. I know it's quarantine, but if you're lying on the couch throw on your bonnet put on a satin pillowcase, do something to protect your hair because believe it or not. These knots and stuff can definitely cause some damage. So we don't want that. So what I'm personally going to do is I had some edge control and some styler around the top of my head cuz. I ended up. You know when it's washday, but you don't want to wash and you put it up in a bun. I have some product right here, so I'm going to use the oil to help break it up, just so that when I get in the shower it will just melt the product out. This is what my hair is looking like right now, which I'm not mad at it's, not too bad. It'S it'll do so. What I'm going to do is give it a shower. I will do it voice over, but share with you guys the next tip of how I detangle in the shower. So here you should have least gotten out the huge mats, okay, the big nuts that you think, a comb or a brush. Whatever detangling tool you use will have a hard time getting through okay, okay, so I am starting out with my hair dry with the oil that I finger detangled. I personally just shampoo like normal. I shampoo my roots and that's kind of like the same step that I do all the time whether I'm trying to detangle or not the shampooing is the same. So now when it comes to conditioner, I'm sure you guys know how to apply your conditioner. I apply it to the areas that need a little bit more TLC, which is for me it's the middle of my hair, and then I do apply conditioner to my roots. That'S just a personal preference and then I go back in with my conditioner and make sure I saturate those ends because we want to healthy ends. So that's what I do in the shower and, of course I let my conditioner sit for a little while make sure my conditioner is helping to really soften my hair and then what I do in the shower, if my hair isn't too bad. What I do next is, I will detangle in the shower. This is if my hair isn't that bad. If this is gon na, take a long time to you tangle, I don't do this in the shower. I wait til I'm out of the shower, but that is pretty much what I do in the shower, so I just wanted to throw this bit in really quickly, but I'm sure you guys know this part right. Okay, guys. So I have wrapped my hair in my frizz free microfiber hair towel. If you're using cotton towels. That'S a note, do not want to use cotton towels, they cause friction and will make your knots and tangles worse. So, for me, mine, hair is still a little bit table. I didn't get all the knots out in the shower just because there was a section that was really tangled. So after my shower I'm going in with a detangler, so I'm using this combing cream. But one thing you can do is you can put some water and conditioner spray bottles spray that in your hair, a conditioner that has amazing slip is Aussie moist, but you can use whatever conditioner you have to whatever leave-in conditioner. If it's good for detangling like if on the bottle that says it's good for detangling, I would recommend you use that for detangling, your hair. So what I'm gon na do is actually take my hair and apply my detangler, which is this combing cream, which is very, very thick and buttery. My hair really really likes it, applying it really to the areas that have the knots and the tangles, which is like the middle of my hair, I'm going to let this sit so actually I'm going to you can either just like tie in a bun, I'm gon Na tie it in a bun and put on a shower cap to really keep my hair wet because I like to style my hair wet, but also this helps give your hair a little bit of boost of moisture. So I'm gon na go ahead and do my makeup and then I will come back to you guys, but that should definitely be enough time for me to go ahead and move to the next step of detangling. So many put this and I shall be good to go cost you guys when I live a little cuter, so I'm back and I'm going to begin to just detangle, my hair, so I'm going to take it down now. This part should be very simple, but for those I don't know my best shot show you how you should be taking how you should be detangling, curly hair, because you want to make sure you're doing it correctly, otherwise, you're just going to make it worse. So, okay, now I like, I said, let me do this section. This was a section I had trouble with when it came to detangling. So what you want to do is section your hair in small sections. These sections are going to depend how thick your hair is. How tangled your hair is all of that my hair isn't too tangled right now, because I did do some of it in shower. Okay, then you're going to take your detangling tool whatever tool you use a brush, a comb, a white tooth comb pick whatever you basically want to start at the ends and then once the ends are detangle. You work your way up higher and higher and higher. Okay and you want to be patient - yes, sometimes it takes a while. Sometimes it doesn't go as this smoothly, which is only because I've detangled, some of it already and once you got ta, get your technique down, find what tools and stuff works well for you. You will definitely be able to tangle your hair, a lot easier like this, and if you need to apply more water, you can, if you need to apply more of your leave-in conditioner, you can, if you need to just go in with some oil all over again And you need to rewash, then so, be it okay! Well, I need to fix my parting, but you guys my hair is now completely detangle and I hope I gave you some valuable tips, some tricks on how you can detangle your hair. Now one thing I will quickly touch on is when your hair is really tangled or if you've gotten a long time without detangling your hair. The shed hair is pretty like the here might be a lot, especially compared to what you're used to seeing if you've gone a long time about washing. So I will link the video down below of how I talk about how much shed hair I lose. Is it normal to lose a lot of hair and all that because, especially when you're detangling, you might notice? Oh, my gosh, I'm losing a ton of hair. So now I'm gon na move on to my center. You guys, but this is how I have you tangled my hair in the process, that I do the extended process, what I do when my hair's really tangled cuz. Obviously I don't do this every time, because I try not to let my hair get this bad. So if you guys liked this video and want more curling, hair tips make sure to give this video a thumbs up and subscribe. If you haven't already and I'll catch you guys in my next video, I quickly wanted to jump in and share with you that I have created a online course for those of you who need just a little bit of extra help regarding your hair care journey, because I am breaking down the basics of naturally curly hair. Leximarcellaa: I am currently on a new acne system so please excuse the condition of my skin.

PerfumeCognac: I want to say that I appreciate this so much. I know you say “don’t let it get that way in the first place” but just to offer some perspective, I recently went thru a horrible depressive episode where I couldn’t do the bare MINIMUM. I vividly remember a day where I hopped out of the shower and with tears in my eyes drove to my friends dog grooming shop so she could literally dematt my hair with dog demattifyer because my curly hair had gotten so matted to my head I was worried I was going to have to cut the whole thing out (thank god for friends right). Anyway, sometimes we can’t prevent it from “getting that bad” in the first place so hearing you say “it’s okay I’m gonna help” and then giving us all tips on what to do once it’s past the point of no return is so so important and helpful. Thank you ❤️

Bill M: I love how you're not afraid to show what the real world Lexi looks like on some days! Be well and keep up the great work.

Semaj Williams: I wanted to give up on my hair because I thought I was the only one with hair like this I struggle would just finding products for you really helped me and now my hair is just so soft and moisturized and I love your videos and I'm subscribed

Not even a little: First you don't have to apologize for your skin. Second, your hair is stunning. Third, fairy knots at the base of my neck is what does me in.

Enid Fire: You literally saved my hair! using oil to detangle is a GAME changer! I now don't need to cut all my hair off

Bridget King: This seriously helps me so much. I have super fine but pretty thick hair, and underneath my curls are a lot tighter so it gets more tangled. Thank you!!!

Violet Kim: I thought I was gonna have to shave my whole head soon enough cause I had terrible split ends and such matted hair just because my hair was long, but this really helped me thank you!

Julie Kelly: You've helped me tremendously! I'll be getting a trim soon. I often wake up every morning with a new matted glob of hair on the back of my head! Not having guidance, I haven't been taking care of my naturally curly hair.. until I found this video of course ☺️ Thank you

Whoa Kira: My daughter has always a problem with this. She’s 10 now and dreads brushing her hair. Not only is it always tangled but it seems her scalp is very sensitive. It always ends in tears. Have you ever relaxed your hair before? I have curly hair also but hers is far more extreme.

BrownEyedSomali: I had surgery in September and my life was just plain horrible with the recovery process for six weeks and now can finally correct this. My hair is my life, and seeing it this way makes me so depressed. thank you for your valuable tips.

Kimmy Khaira: I have to try this tomorrow! It’s currently a huge Matte ball and I’m terrified of pulling it apart I swear my tangled matte ball hair is bigger than my head

Lalisa Manoban 🐱: The trimming hair tip is so helpful. I was always forced to cut my hair as a child so I was not a big fan of hearing I might need to trim my hair, but after doing so my hair has not been tangled in MONTHS where before I would get one BIG rats nest every single day even when I just do nothing. Thanks for the tip.

sara35ish: Thank you so much. My thick curly hair has been extremely knotted lately . This will really help . I started detangling my hair dry and its a game changer.

InMyOpinion Wisdom: PerformeCognac stated: I want to say that I appreciate this so much. Lisa Toolsieram Ali: I’m definitely going to try this ! I’m tired with my hairs tangled

The Hermithood: My hair is almost exactly like yours. The detangling tip helps as I was just using olive oil and a detangler brush. It works for a bit but the next day it's a big poofy mess again. The fairy knots are what drive me the most bonkers, I always cut those out. You said something about a pillowcase please expand on that.

halcyon2017: Thank you for sharing your tips. My two year old daughter's hair is very similar to yours so this video was very helpful. Do you have any tips for how to keep hair detangled while in it's dry state? That's the greatest challenge I have with my daughter's hair. We get it nice and detangled and moisturized, but by the end of the day, it's frizzy and starting to tangle. And I make sure she wears a satin bonnet whenever she sleeps.

YasmínFabricio: Thank you for this! My daughter has very thick curly hair and I don’t know how to deal with it

Chablee Peterson: Love your hair so beautiful. I’m definitely going to try everything you’re saying in the video for my hair journey

xgravegame: was just getting in to long hair, and as a guy I had no idea hair was such a big problem. so ofcourse after 1 month of never brushing my hair I started to see lots of problems so I thought: "aight, lets just brush them a bit" and to my surprise the brush wouldn't go trught, even if I use full strength, I used just my hand, it didn't go trught, full strength not a movement. so I started to slowly detangle each hair individually but after 5 minutes my head was in a lot of pain and I realized this was not going to work. and well here I am years later finally decided to find a better way to keep them without knots, since till now the best I could do is not make them become a dead bush, but keep them moderately well,

sabrina pachón torres: I finally found my curly twin, I love your videos and they're really helpful!! Have ever think getting highlights?

Jennifer Divine: I went back to silicones and honestly I dont even remember why I stopped using them. Also I still use my flexy brush I bought last year after you recommended it so thanks for that I probably wouldnt have found it otherwise. I just used head and shoulders shampoo (the eucalyptus one) and their regular (regular as in not the eucalyptus one) conditioner and the slip is great. If the silicone causes any damage long term I'll update this comment

Love 1980 Music: Thank you for the tips bc I have long fine curly/wavy hair and it gets matted & knotted up bad, and the tips you gave on the video helped.

Laydee Jules: I use to have straight, thick hair. As I got older, I noticed a slight wave. I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, I noticed my hair was getting substantially more cutler. I have been almost bedridden. It seems like I woke up with two large mats and I my hair is filled with ringlets. This all happened really quickly. I heard to get a silk pillowcase, I did I am not sure if I should try to cut out the mats, I am too embarrassed to go to a stylist for their help. I purchased one of the pink brushes you were using, it just bent backwards. I am 59 and a mess. I am leaving for the Mayo Clinic in a week and am freaking out. I have always paid for perms to get curls, now I have hair that is curlier than any perm and I don't know how to care for it. HELP,

Eva Dewar: this is so helpful! My hair gets pretty tangled.

Yonas H: You’re helping a dad hear trying to figure out how to untangle a 4 year old daughter curly hair . How many times per week do you have to treat the hair like that do to avoid tangled hair?

Candice Colebrooke: "If you have an area that is bad..." Sis, the whole of my hair is a hot frigging mess right now. I don't know how wash day always catch me slipping like this.

Kyara Federico: You seriously were so helpful. Wow. Thank you so much!

Dragoneta Slayer: Thanks for this advice I have and all white family in a majority white community and just have never really known how to do anything with my hair so videos like this really help me.

Super Ange 55 10: This is perfect for my hair and it actually works I do recommend

Tasha Bell: You have beautiful hair and you are beautiful with or without makeup. I loved that you be truthful with all your information. Great job

Ali: My hair always gets like this when I’m just unmotivated or in a bad spot and I get worried my long hair will get shorter I’m trying to make sure I wash it more often

Rosie's Tropical Fun: Thanks a million, girl. I owe it to you big time.

Sophie Myers: Every morning my hair is one giant, or multiple large knots and mats. This can happen throughout the day with my hair down aswell (shoulder length) This is a major struggle for me, and I can't seem to find any advice that works. Please any advice and tips would be amazing! I'm tired of having to brush for 30-50 minutes every morning just to get knots and mats out

VedaOils: This is an amazing video and it's a very clear dissection. I learn new something from your every video.

Paige W.B: My hair gets dry and matted especially in the back. No matter how moisturize my hair. But I’m going to try this…

Maria Castellon: I haven't combed my hair in over a week and I'm having hair loss, so I'm scared to comb it :(

Cookie Coops: I’ve been bedwritten for 8 days now bc of a kidney infection, and I haven’t been able to do anything other than; go to the toilet, drink water, take my medicine, and eat a bit. So all the twists and turns have REALLY tangled up, so when I get better I will deffinately try to use this method So thank you, cause I was scared I was gonna have to cut all of it off

Audrey G.: Okay, I have half the amount of curly hair as this pretty lady and detangling is still a time-consuming bitch with a ton of hair coming out after a full week of not washing. Really thinking about a big chop at this point.

Marine D: I put heavy moisturizing conditioner (raw shea butter by shea moisture) on wet hair, i wait until it gets soaked in and really moist then i start detangling with a big detangling brush (the flexi brush by curl keeper) and bye to the matted hair :)

Sunshine girl: Good video. Helpful reminder of good habits. Thank you for your work/content.

amanda graham: Thank you so much for these awesome tips we are hair twins lol

the Realest Barbie D: I'm here after I just literally washed my hair and she said to detangle when it's dry

Johnathan Rivera: I'm a guy and been growing my hair out for a few years now. My hair is crazy curly. I have no clue what is right and is wrong. I get crazy big knots but then again I don't pay much attention to it anyway. When I go to stores to ask questions no one seems to want to help me understand how to take care of it. I've never gotten it trimmed I've just grew it out. I just combed my hair out in the shower with conditioner and I lose so much hair all the time. I don't even know if I'm using the right comb. People love my hair as much as I do and I want to make it look even better. I don't want to accidentally ruin my hair. How do I know if my hair is good and healthy? How can I tell if I've damaged it or not? What can I do to repair damages? Hot to tell if I need a trim? How can I grow my hair even longer when I feel like it stopped growing? I have so many questions

Maya Morales: my hair is so knotted its literally its own bun on my head. it cant move or nothing. kinda scary and i know this will take a long time to detangle but my hair is SOO stiff rn so thanks for this video

LovenLight: Mine started when I had surgery and I had a wound vac on for 5 months. My depression set in and now I have matted hair. I listened to a friend and used a preshampoo which made the situation worse. I’ve used deep conditioners, leave Ins, you name it. Nothing has worked. There’s so much misinformation about it. No hairstylist are well versed in matted hair except one lady in Florida. Unfortunately I live in Ohio. People say “just shave your head” or “ why would you let it get this bad well those people clearly don’t understand depression due to illness and life conditions from which I was powerless. Simple tasks became impossible. Don’t judge things you don’t understand. Obviously I’m stating this generally but it’s a shame that people shame you for things that are out of your control.

Simplemomof 4: This was super useful because I have a huge knot in my hair and it is so big and it's so hard to get out

L: I have 3c hair and I shed so much every wash day. What can I do to lessen the shedding and soften my hair. My curl pattern has changed from using heat in the past. I deep condition every wash day.

Farah: that was actually very helpful thank you

Farah Sadoq: I have been doing it wrong for ages! Thanks.

Like right now i’m laying in bed, extremely tired, avoiding washing my hair even though i need too for summer school tomorrow. I also don’t sleep on my back to keep my hair from not getting tangled.
