Professional Hairdressers Detailed Curly Hair Routine - Tutorial | Ariba Pervaiz

Hey Guys!

As requested I put together an extremely detailed curly hair routine, beginning to end! My hair is still on the road to recovery from 15 years of bleaching and it's slowly coming back to life with the help of some of my favorite go-to products. I'm sharing how I shampoo, treat, style and care for my curls for the entire week using the OGX Deeply Restoring + Pracaxi Recovery Oil line.

This routine gives my curls a soft bouncy finish with no frizz. I share my tips on longer lasting curls and how I maintain them after they have been styled.

Hey guys today, I'm going to show you how my hair goes from this to this, so we're finally doing my updated curly hair routine, for you guys and I'm gon na be sharing beginning to end step-by-step, every detail of the entire process. So my hair is about four or five days old right now and I haven't Champlin it at all. So yes, indeed in some areas, my natural texture is starting to pop up from, I guess just the humidity and then some areas remained styled and it's just a lovely lovely mess for you. So I'm gon na give you guys a very quick kind of history. On my hair, because I want you guys to know why I use what I use so my hair has been chemically treated bleached colored for about fifteen years straight and in about the last eight months, I've completely stopped chemically treating my hair when you're chemically styling your Hair and you have a lot of bleaching and coloring done to your hair, you're, basically pulling proteins out of your hair every single time that you bleach your hair, so the shampoo and conditioners, and the products that you want to focus on are based on restoring your Hair, repairing your hair and they're, basically putting those proteins back into your hair, whereas with heat damaged, hair you're. Every time you heat style, your hair, you're, pulling moisture out. So you want to focus on restoring that moisture back in your hair when you're constantly heat styling your hair. So those of you guys that follow me on Instagram, you guys know I've been talking about lgx a lot lately and it's basically this shampoo and conditioner line. That'S that's the perfect combination of having that hydration and also having those reparative properties in it. So it's kind of perfect for my hair right now, so I'm basically gon na show you guys now my full routine shampoo, conditioner treatment, aftercare styling all of that jazz. So I'm gon na just go ahead and quickly rinse my hair, so I'm gon na assume that nobody here knows how to shampoo your hair correctly and I'm gon na give you guys a very detailed breakdown on how to correctly shampoo your hair, we're going to start With the OGX perk axial shampoo, so you always always always want to shampoo your hair two times the first shampoo, never lathers, or rarely rather rarely, rather rarely lathers rarely lathers if it does lather on the first shampoo. That means that your shampoo is way too high. In sulfates and you're, probably using the wrong shampoo, so we're going so we're gon na take our shampoo and your shampoo. You always want to focus on the scalp, and so the first shampoo is basically there to kind of start to slowly break up all of the dirt and oil in your hair and use your fingertips to really clean your scalp. You don't want to use your fingernails and you see right now. It'S like tempting to go in with more shampoo because it feels like nothing's happening if you feel that, don't add more shampoo, add more water. So that's what I'm gon na do right now. Add a little bit more water. So now that that's done, we basically focused only on our scalp and I didn't apply any shampoo into my actual hair. The only cleansing that your hair needs from products is the residual shampoo that falls off when you're rinsing your hair. Most of your dirt and oil is sitting right here on your scalp and closer to the roots. So now I'm just gon na go ahead and rinse. It was not that easy, wincing, my hair, with all this makeup on okay, so now we're gon na go in with this second shampoo, and the second shampoo is the one that should lather if, for any reason, your second shampoo is not lathering. That means your hair is very dirty and you need to go in with a third shampoo, so we're gon na go ahead and do the same process and just apply the shampoo on my root and scalp all the way around. By focusing on shampooing our roots and our scalp, and not our hair strands, we're actually preventing our cuticle layer, which is the outer layer of our hair from shattering open. When you roughing up the cuticle layer, you actually risk damaging your hair further. So now I'm gon na go ahead and rinse this out as well. Okay, so now that both of my shampoos are done, we're gon na go ahead and go on to the next step and for most people they go straight from their shampoo to their conditioner. If your, and which is fine, but if you're going to be doing some kind, hair mask or hair treatment hold off on the conditioner, what you're doing, if you do your hair conditioner before you do, your hair mask is you're basically closing off your hair cuticle and Nothing is going to be able to penetrate into that hair once the hair conditioner is on so because our hair is completely cleansed right now and there's nothing blocking my hair shaft from absorbing anything. I'M gon na take advantage of that next, we're gon na go in with OGX a deeply restoring Pro kaksi oil hair treatment. So you want to be generous with your hair treatment and we're gon na do what we complete opposite of what we did with the shampoo. So, instead of focusing on my scalp and my root, I'm gon na focus on my mids and my ends. You actually don't want to put this directly onto your scalp, I'm just gon na rub it into my hands, apply everywhere. The best that I can and you'll notice, as I'm applying this in my care, I'm applying it downwards - I'm not doing this and I'm not going upwards. If you do that again, you're roughening up your cuticle you're going against the grain. So, generally, you want to leave a hair mask or hair treatment in your hair for five to ten minutes even longer. If you can, but lgx actually recommends that I leave this treatment in my hair for 60 seconds. Only so we're just gon na kind of follow their recommendation right now and we're gon na quickly, rinse it off. So something that I forgot to mention is that when you're doing your hair treatment and your conditioner, you always want to make sure for these two processes that you squeeze as much water out of your hair. If you have too much water in your hair, while you're applying your hair mask or your hair conditioner you're actually going to dilute those products out way too much so now for our final step, we're gon na be going in with some hair conditioner and finally, we're Gon na go in with the OGX protects the oil hair conditioner again with my hair conditioner, I like to be generous. I have tons of hair and my hair is super super dry and I'm gon na go back to my mids and my ends. So the reason you actually don't apply, hair, masks and hair conditioners on your actual scalp is because it can actually create a lot of build-up which ends up giving you that, like really itchy scalp, and then you get like that stuff. Under your nails, that's usually built up in its product build-up and it it happens from treatments. It happens from conditioners. It happens from styling products by applying my hair conditioner. In a downwards motion, I'm helping my hair close the cuticle layer and it's going to end in a lot shinier results once I'm done so, the hair conditioner can actually be went right away. It doesn't need to stay on for X, amount of minutes. It usually closes the cuticle soon, as you apply it onto your strand, so we're gon na go ahead and quickly rinse this off alright. So now that all of our shampoo is my shirt with okay, now we're gon na move into the second portion, which is me styling, my hair, so you can see right now. My hair is just dripping, dripping dripping dripping. I'M gon na go in with either a cotton t-shirt or a microfiber towel and I'm gon na gently just kind of get rid of all of the water. That'S like excess water. That'S dripping dripping dripping like crazy, but you want to maintain almost all the water in your hair so now that it's not dripping to the point where I'm gon na be like drenched. So my hair, I'm gon na, go ahead and, firstly detangle my hair and then I'm gon na add my styling products. In now, I'm going in with the OGX Pro kaksi oil combing cream and again we're just gon na rub it into our hands. We'Re gon na go mist and I get to the ends and then just kind of rotate it downwards. You don't want to go up against the cuticle once again and as I'm applying this like there's just tons of water dripping into my hair. That'S a good thing. We want to maintain that moisture as much as possible, basically just want to start at the bottom and work your way up until all of the tangles are not, and finally we're going to be going in with the OGX coconut curl cream. So with your crop beans, you want to make sure that you actually apply it around each hair strand, if you can't, if the product is not on each hair strand, it's not going to work on each hair strand, so don't be stingy with your curl creams. Really really get in there and take your time do a section by section. If you have tons of hair, I usually just split my hair over my shoulders and apply it in two sections. You want to get this close to your root, but obviously you don't want it on your scalp. So my kind of trick for that is to take the majority of my hair product when it's initially in my hand and apply it to the thickest and most dense area, so that is gon na be the mid shaft. The mids are basically where the majority of your hair is right and then, with the residual leftover, we're gon na put that towards the bottom and scrunch that in from one hand, and the scent is still there and now, whatever residual. I have left on this hand. I'M gon na rub it in to two hands and I'm gon na take that tiny bit of product that's left and apply it to my roots. Again, I am NOT applying this on my scalp and I want you to hear the squish. You want to make sure you hear this squishy sound because then you'll know you have enough water and product in your hair. Okay. So now I'm going to apply it to this side and I'm just going to take my time, I'm going to squish it around. I'M going to make sure that all of the hair strands are covered so now what I like to do, what it's applied equally on both sides, let's take just a little bit more and I'm gon na dump my head upside down and we're gon na, get make Sure that we get all of hair underneath and you're just gon na go ahead and scrunch, so basically by moving your head around in different angles and applying the product at the same time, you're, basically kind of ensuring that that product gets absolutely everywhere. So what I'm gon na do now is actually wet my hands and take my wet hand into my hair a couple of times just to make sure everything is still really down so make sure it's broken up, make sure that product really got everywhere and once it's Broken up like this you'll know that when you go to heat salad, it'll heat style evenly as well. So this is what it looks like now. I'M just gon na grab my diffuser attachment and attach it onto my blow-dryer and I'm gon na start at the bottom of my ends and kind of wiggle, the blow-dryer all the way up towards my roots and I'm moving it around constantly so that it dries as Evenly as possible, I'm focusing on drying mainly my roots and my meds at this point and I'm keeping the temperature settings of the blow dryer on high heat and high air okay. So my hair is about 50 percent dry right now, so you can see, there's still a lot of damp areas and I'm gon na let the rest of it dry. Naturally, and then once it's completely dry, I will come back and show you guys what it looks like alright. So it's been about 40 45 minutes and I feel like it's pretty much all dry, because it's actually warm outside today, so it dried up a little bit quicker than usual. So my goal every time I styled my hair curly like this, is to basically maintain it. So a couple of tricks when I'm sleeping and using either a silk or satin pillowcase. That way, there's no friction when I'm sleeping another trick is when I'm tying my hair up. I always go in with these kind of springy hair ties because they don't dent your hair and they kind of spiral and kind of configure around your natural hair texture. So they don't put any lines in your hair or flatten any areas. So your curls are able to stay a little bit fluffier longer and usually by day, two or three I'll, probably start going in with a little bit of dry shampoo at my roots and we'll also do by day three or four is take. My curling wand or curling iron, or even a flatiron and I'll just do a few touch-ups on the areas that have kind of started to fall flat, and that is pretty much it for my comedy routine. I will leave a link for all of the products I used down below in the description and, as always, I hope you guys enjoyed this tutorial if you did be sure to give this video a thumbs up, will leave me some love in the comments down below. R: I’m east indian and my natural texture is beach waves. I went out and bought this shampoo, conditioner and did the wash like she said and got the curl cream and let it air dry and OMGGGG my waves look so luscious and juicy! Thanks Ariba!!!

ofthesaints: I love that curl cream by the way! I’ve tried nearly every drugstore styling product made for curls, and this one is definitely a staple.

Nathalie Vivid Rose: you are my inspiration on curly hair: how it should look and be styled. love it so much!

Nafessa Kassim: I am so interested - how are you able to heat style (blowdry straight or flatiron) so often but still be able to maintain curls? I struggle with that. Also - how do you keep your crown baby hairs from getting frizzy after a day or two?

Laura Ramírez: Thank you so much!! Finally I found someone with the same hair texture I was looking for this. Thank you

Evana Rampersad: Girllllll! Found you on IG and I'm soooooo glad!!!! Fellow and so proud and happy to be getting relatable content! Especiallyyyyyyy hair careeeeee omggggggg

N K: Your hair is so beautiful . I've only bleach my hair once almost 6 years ago and my hair is been so bad. My hair had been falling out like crazy and now I'm trying to retrieve my curls so I stopped using any heat. Do you have any recommendations for hair fall out? I feel like I've tried everything

Jessica Glory Emi: Thank you for this one. Will definitely try this out. But I feel like when I comb wet hair, my hair falls more. Is there any way to reduce hair fall?

sj1605: The first few mins answered and cleared all my questions about protein and moisture.

Sahar Khalid: hi Ariba, your hair is lovely! Can you please do a video on hair that is wavy/kinky straight? I have super thick and frizzy hair that doesn't really have a pattern. It always gets super frizzy after I wash it. The scrunching method doesn't work for me - it just makes my hair frizzier. Can you please give me some tips on how to style my hair after washing it without heat? thank you!
