Today is an exciting day: I'm launching a new product and I'm doing it at the Dyson Demo store opposite the famous Paris Garnier Opera House.. So would you like to come into a Dyson store with me Here we go, And here we have the store where we invite you to one near you in whichever country you are and you can come and try out all of our technology and see it demonstrated.. So, let's get started! Thank you. Merci, beaucoup Monsieur Delightful staff here at Dyson., And this is our we pioneered this new format of vacuum: cleaner, it's battery powered with our high-speed digital motor, which is very efficient and reduces the size., And I'm just going to get in the way of our robot there. We are and vacuum up., So it's very light and very powerful., And this is our robot, which navigates by vision system. It has a camera, a 360-degree camera and it interprets the picture and knows where it's going and where it's been. - And it too has our high-speed digital motor. Come across here to our lighting.. We have LEDs. Are you having a good demonstration? C'Est bien, sir Oui? The LEDs are cooled by copper heat pipes which extract the heat from the LED, so we guarantee the light quality and the bulb for at least 60 years.. Hair has become an obsession of ours. We developed a tiny high-speed digital motor which enabled us to put the motor inside the handle, so it's quieter, more powerful and faster drying. [ speaking french ], And here we have our Dyson Airwrap™ Styler, which uses the Coanda technology to wrap the hair and produce various Interesting styles., I can give a demonstration here if you come and look at this switch it on and that's the Coanda effect wrapping the hair around the barrel. So you can slip it off very easily. And we have a heater. You can have a heater, a cooler, a purifier, getting rid of dust particles, bacteria in your home, all in one machine., And we even do humidification as well here., But now we're getting to what I'm going to introduce to you. Today., Here's the product, I'm not going to show it to you! Yet it's under there, I'm not going to show it to you.. Now, at Dyson, we've spent years six to eight years, examining hair science discovering what damages hair and what makes hair glossy and what makes a better style. And one of the most important things about hair is the damage that you can get on. Hair and we've. Not only studied in our laboratories, but we've gone around the world. We've set up laboratories in our demo stores. We examine people's hair.. Now everybody has different hair and these are the sort of basic types of hair. You have straight hair here you have slightly curly hair. You have very curly hair and you have extremely curly or even kinky hair., And we subdivided each of those types of hair.. Now there we are, those are the types of hair. Now this is one of my hairs, which they took off me and examined and you'll see that over on the left is near the root you'll see that it's pretty well undamaged, that's in the middle again pretty Well, undamaged, and at the end it's also pretty well undamaged and I've only ever used a Dyson supersonic™ hair dryer on my hair. I'Ve never used extreme heat., But if I show you the next slide over on the left there, this is a slide of a beauty. Editor, I won't name her, but I think this is a pretty normal sort of thing. You'D see so over on the left. There'S a bit of damage near the root. In the middle there's, starting to be a lot of damage and at the end it's pretty well. It'S terrible. And that's all mostly caused by heat and the product I'm going to show. You today overcomes this problem.. This is the new Dyson Corrale™ hair straightener.. You can see a nice picture over there.. It styles, your hair, without extreme heat. It gives you a wonderful style and the copper plates flex around the hair., So you end up with a glossy undamaged, hair perfectly styled.. So the secret of these copper plates here, which wrap around the tress forming a nice oval for the tress. Now I'll, just demonstrate Sam's going to hand me an already heated set.. So I'm going to show you how it works. It clamps and you pull it down.. I'Ve got even tension down the tress and I'm not overheating it.. In fact, I'm using far less heat than flat plate hair irons.. So there you are it's a lovely tress, but even tension applied and evenly heated.. Thank you. Now, I'm just going to show you. I hope you can see this clearly the one on the Left. It'S flat, hair irons at about 200 degrees and on the right is the Dyson Corrale™ hair straightener at about 165 degrees., And you can see that the one on the left has splayed the hair out. So it's only really gripping the hairs in the centre and tension is extremely important.. Tension and heat are the way that you straighten hair and style. Hair. Now that's achieved, because these are the solid plates up here and you'll, see they're squashing the hair in the centre, making it quite flat, but the hairs at the edge are not being tensioned they're, not being heated they're, not being squeezed., Whereas with the Dyson with The flexing plates, its corralling, it in the centre very nicely, giving it a lovely oval shape. And the same happens when you when you look at the heat, exactly the same effect, happens: you're, squashing and in fact, overheating the tress in the center there. Whereas there's bits being missed around the edge as its splays out., But with the Dyson they're corralled into a nice oval and it doesn't get too hot because the centre core cools the outside hairs.. So with the Dyson. The hair never reaches the temperature about 20 degrees below the temperature. You'Ve set it at., So the hair is always 20 degrees lower than the plate temperature.. So that's how it works, and I'm now going over to Sandra who's developed this wonderful rig, which shows how tensioning occurs and tension is critical to achieving straight hair so over to you Sandra.. Thank you, James. What you see here is a test rig which we've developed during our research and development labs. Analysing the tension was really important during the development of Dyson Corrale™ hair straightener.. It was really important to understand how the level of control added to styling means you can style. The hair, with less heat. What you can see here, we have 10 load cells which are measuring the amount of pressure that we're adding on this natural straight hair.. So what we're going to do? I'M going to start by showing a competitor. Conventional straighteners have solid plates. Our testing has shown that solid plates are not able to control the hair, which means that users need to use more heat in order to style the hair., So you're going to see on the graph there when I'm applying the heat and when I'm applying the tension. The tension and compression are very unevenly distributed. You can see that there are some large peaks of tension, but some areas of the hair tress are under very low amount of tension.. What this means is that the tension, the pressure and the heat are unevenly applied to the hair, which means that not all the hair is being styled at the same degree.. What the user would do to compensate for that they would just apply more passes. On the same section, which means that they will be applying more heat to their hair and damaging their hair., I'm going to show you next. Our Dyson Corrale™, hair straightener., The Dyson Corrale™ hair straightener, as James explained, has flexing plates that shape and gather hair.. So when we're going to do our pass, you will see that the Dyson Corrale™ hair straightener applies even tension across the width of this hair section that we're styling.. What this means is that all the tension and the heat are being applied consistently and evenly across the hair section. None of the hair strands are escaping the plates, which means that the styling is done more efficiently and we're obtaining a more aligned and even style.. This means that you're able to achieve great style with less heat and less heat damage.. Thank you Sandra. It'S very clever. You'Ve very clearly explained the importance of even tension in straightening hair., And here you see a robotic test rig, which will make sure that you can do exactly the same operation time after time after time. You'll notice on the left here. The flat hair irons are actually overheating and causing the oils to gas off, and you can see how the tress splays leaving hairs untensioned and, in fact, unheated.. Whereas the Dyson Corrale™ hair straightener on the right has gathered all the hair, giving even tension across the tress and a wonderful looking style. So if we could repeat that, once more with the heat map, you'll see the same thing occurring overheating to part of the tress under heating to the hairs at the sides., Whereas the Dyson on the right has given an even heat and not excessive heat, so that We'Ve just shown you two things: the importance of tension and the importance of not overheating. The secret. Are these copper plates see if I can show them to you, you can see them flexing here.. These are precision made and I'll show you how they're made in a moment, but that's the key to it all. Those can flex beautifully and encapsulate the hair., And here they are in action on some hair. There, you are, you, see them, flexing flexing and you see the wonderful style and the neat tress that she's able to obtain coming down the tress.. And here you can see the technology the heaters below the copper plates. Then the heaters then the thermal cut-out and then an insulator and then the circuit board. - And this is how the plates are made: they're, machined, first and then they're wire eroded in chemical and then they're dipped in a coating material to coat them so that they're utterly Durable. - And these are some examples of our development from the right to the left. Now Henry did a very interesting rig, which he's going to show you for testing the durability of the coating on the copper plates.. Thank you James. So we do a lot of crazy things at Dyson we develop very high-tech test methods and then we develop some slightly wackier ones.. This is definitely one of the wackier ones to test out plate coatings.. So you can see here that we've got a coated plate an example there.. Then it turned out that a record player turns around about the same speed as if you were straightening your hair. So it's a good way to test out coating robustness.. Thank You. Henry! That'S! Great. Now heat control is very important. We have intelligent heat control. The chip sends a message and receives a signal back one hundred times a second to each of the two plates.. So the plates don't get too hot and remain at the right temperature. Now, in addition to physical damage and making the hair rough so that it doesn't reflect light heat also damages colour.. Now applying colour is very expensive and it takes a long time and you'll see. There'S the original over on the left by the time you've applied 150 degrees or 200 degrees, 300 fahrenheit, 400 fahrenheit, you've changed the color dramatically. Color is also a form of damage. These are the batteries inside we pioneered battery technology in vacuum, cleaners and given extreme power to them, and we've now done the same with with our straighteners., The Dyson Corrale™, hair straightener and we've been developing battery technology for the last seven or eight years, so we're rather Experts in batteries they're a very important area for us.. Now the importance of a battery operated with no no cord you see, there's no cord is that you can do your hair in the car as long as you're, not driving., You can do it at work. You can do it in the washroom, you can do it before you go out to a restaurant. You can top up at any time and you can travel with them. They'Ve got a little plug. You pull out for air travel, so you can have the perfect style for any occasion at any time, and indeed you can go around the home any position in the home. You don't have to sit on the floor in front of a mirror because there's a socket there. So you've got total flexibility.. Now we've tested the product to extreme. We squashed it, we've sat on it, we've dropped it from higher heights. We'Ve tested the buttons there. It is being dropped onto a concrete floor.. This is a high-speed test to test the durability of the plates, so it's thoroughly thoroughly tested.. We now want to show the the Dyson Corrale™ hair straightener being used on real people's hair, so we're going to bring in Jen Atkin from the LA store central city LA store.. Over to you now Jen.. Thank you, James, Hello, everyone, I'm so honoured to be with you this early early early morning in the Los Angeles, Dyson demo store., My name is Jen Atkin, I'm a celebrity hair, dresser entrepreneur and tech junky.. I'M also lucky enough to have been a global styling ambassador for Dyson for over 4 years now, and today is my birthday and I wouldn't want to be anywhere but here.. So it goes without saying I am a huge Dyson fan. Having been a part of the development process for the Dyson airwrap™ Styler and the Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer. It'S such a pleasure to finally be able to show you the revolutionary Dyson Corrale™ hair straightener.. I'Ve worked alongside the Dyson engineers as they research and develop technology and hair care over the years., And it's that incredible technology that makes it so that we can create all styles and looks for every hair. Type.. Ok enough talk, let's see it in action.. This is my model Ashley, so now conventional straighteners make it really hard to get a soft, beautiful and bouncy curl.. One of my favourite things is the flexible plates make it so the hair doesn't snag or catch as you glide the iron through the hair.. So you can achieve the same bouncy styles as a conventional straightener, but without the extreme heat. And the Dyson corrale™ hair straightener is so so easy to use and super versatile.. So you can get the same styles and looks for all hair types, but without the extreme heat damage. It's so so pretty thank you.. My next model Taylor has coily hair and we're gon na. Take it too straight and just before we blew her hair out using the Wide-toothed comb attachment and if you haven't tried it yet I highly suggest giving it a go.. It glides through the hair has no sharp edges, so it allows you to stretch and smooth curls and coils. And to straighten hair. You need three things: control tension and heat. Conventional straighteners have solid plates which are unable to deliver enough control and tension. So they up the temperature., But because the Dyson Corrale™ hair straightener has flexing plates, we've enhanced control and tension which allows us to be less reliant on heat., And you have three temperature settings, there's 330 degree, 365 and 410 degree Fahrenheit.. So now, with the Dyson Corrale™ hair straightener, you don't always need to use the highest heat for coarser, hair types and the flexing plates. Allow you to achieve a strong style with less heat it.. It also measures the temperature up to a hundred time per second.. Look at that gorgeous glossy straight smooth hair. It looks so good. Thank you., So it's going to give you 50 % less damage than other conventional straight irons., Alright. So next up we have Laura and I'm so excited to show you a very popular look here in Southern California. The beach wave., What's so great about the flexible plates, is that it doesn't leave that annoying indentation on the hair that you get with other flat irons.. My favourite feature is that it's cordless, so now you can literally do your hair anywhere.. I'Ve been able to get about 35 to 45 minutes battery life, depending on the style of the hair and the hair type that I'm working with. And the great thing is. You can also use it while it's charging and plugged in.. So I'm taking about two inch wide sections, but you can play around with your own hair to see what works best for you and another. One of my tips is I like to charge the Dyson Corrale™ hair straightener on my charging dock, so that I have plenty of battery life with every client. I'M working with. Such great waves.Thank, You Laura., So Dyson really really listens to the needs of consumers and stylists globally. To get your hands on the Dyson Corrale™ hair straightener head to your nearest Dyson demo store or check out Dyson.com for more information.. If you have questions for James or for myself head over to @ Dyson, hair's Instagram stories., Thank you guys for tuning in today.

Salman Alshuwaier: The fact that it was taken in one take is absolutely crazy

mamaboo cee: I just acquired the Corrale. It is amazing, they thought of everything. It does not snag my hair and straightens my thick, long cotton candy textured hair straight in one pass- right to the very ends - at the lowest heat setting. Previously I could only get that result with highest heat and multiple passes with any other flat iron. Kudos to Dyson!! I love my hair now!! I knew it would be good, I already owned the hair dryer and 3 cordless vacuums that were all well worth my money!

Noel Jacobson: I love how one test rig obviously took a lot of time and effort to develop, and the other guy looks like he's had a really chill couple of years and he came up with this record player idea last night at the pub.

Nicholas Joshua Fahr: He is such a cool guy. This video is so amazing.

WtfImdoinghere: Sir Dyson, you are one genius man. Well done with all your products. Greetings from Turkey !

NR: This is an important promotion video featuring James Dyson himself. That being the case, it's pretty weak to use a projector and screen rather than a very large monitor. Images projected on screens look very washed out; especially in daylit rooms. But images on Monitor screens always look sharp and vibrant.

crzywatch: So much of intricacy is invested in the product. Definitely high end product for salons. What do the hairdresser artist think about this. What sort of improvement would they look at. Also how affordable is it for a average college going woman. And heat damages colored haired and so does shampoo.

John T: Love Dyson original hairdryer... expensive but a joy to use since I bought it 3-4yrs ago Can u guys do a toothbrush than won’t damage enamel even if u tried to overbrush.... I think my electric toothbrush is damaging my enamel when I am trying to remove teeth stains by brushing more frequently and for longer periods

Fanny: I'm in ❤ love with Dyson Hair tools, have them all love them all....

Wrathzy: Thank you for my AM06, Supersonic Hairdryer and V10 these products awesome and appreciated!

Patricia Younger-Cocca: I just had to return my Dyson Corrale flat iron which I love more than my son. I purchased it 2 months ago and was so happy with it and it was working just fine. Just this morning I noticed that the edges of the plates look like they are melting or delaminating. I thought it was just simply a little bit of buildup from hair products, however, after a few gentle wipes, it wasn't coming off. Upon careful inspection with a magnifying glass, I could see it was plastic that was peeling off!! I have only used it less than a dozen times. I'm disappointed that I paid a lot of money for the BEST product on the market and ending up returning it due to a defect! Hoping the replacement doesn't do the same or worse. Maybe it needs to go back to the drawing board.

Ann Reck: I have had the Dyson Animal since it came out. I got the Airwrap Complete last year, & just got the Corrale this year, anxiously waiting for it’s arrival … it took me awhile to justify the expense, just like the Airwrap, but I KNOW I’m going to love it, & won’t regret it … in fact, once I ordered it… I felt great about it !!!

Danny Li: one small thing needed to be point out, during the tension test, the lady was using one hand the traditional straight iron, but when it came to dyson, two hands were used for the test. That factor may changes the result. Two major down sides - giant charger leads to low compatibility and high weight leads to tiring arms. In terms compatibility, it is still a no no. Remember what you are bring to your trip, is not only that iron, you are still bring a computer size charger which is another pound or two. Plus, because of the cordless feature, the iron itself is already so much heavier than traditional iron. Lets say a girl is a pro to her own hair and she needs 10 mins to do the hair. Well if she is not a pro-gym-goer, 10 mins with the iron basically it is an arm workout which will slender your arms.

LJ Parell: I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I love the style I am achieving with the Coralle, but is definitely NOT gliding through my hair like the demos. It tugs through my "tresses" and I am not applying any more tension or time ortrying anything fancy ☹️

kesh Kumar: Mr Dyson is serious serial inventor, who has tried his hand on many products. With a almost 99.99% success. Well done on your success.

Franz S: His passion is far more effective than the most expensive marketing

Aida Okugic: I love mine already ...

Jacquai Bauér: The extension of the v11 as a pointer?!? Genius!

bunny: James seems so cool lol. Love dyson everything

Lilamac Guinness123: Great products your awesome

kristin_moskowm: Настоящий умный и воспитанный мужчина !

Sophia Scott: wow! cant wait to buy

louisa: watched this cause i’m bored but it ended up being useful for my product design degree lmao

C Foster: I like this dude. He doesn't have that used car salesman slime ball vibe that a lot of big company owners have. I've had a Dyson vacuum for years and it still picks up like it did day 1. I won't use another brand. I wish they would make a steam mop!

Carlos Rios: what do you think about making a setting so that you can limit the charge to the dyson to 75% so the batteries can have a longer life span? i could imagine if this is going to be used at a salon, its going to be used in 1 of 2 ways. either plugged in all the time (which having your battery constantly at 100% degrades its lifespan). or it will be getting charged every 30 minutes (which will add a ridiculous amount of charge cycles to the unit, which again will degrade the batteries). but if you were able to set it to stop charging at 75% you could leave it plugged in all the time and the batteries be healthier. or you could charge it constantly, but since its not hitting near 100% it will help the batteries last longer

dude14377: I love the fact this is a British company but god I wish the products weren't so expensive.

mamaboo cee: Lol, I just want to know what talented technician tied his short hair into a knot!! THREE KNOTS, actually!

Thomas atigh: I can listen to him for hours.

A K: Wow ! Really appreciate the power of human to create technology. Now I understand why the Dyson is so expensive. I can’t afford it but the price the worth the innovation that went into it.

Nata N: Добрый день! Подскажите чем отличаются стайлеры только цветом или есть у них различия? Спасибо!

NEETU KAHLON: James! I’m not sold... whether it’s vacuum cleaners, fans, or supersonic, you have indeed created something worth the price I paid for it... but not the air wrap, because I still feel how I wasted £450 on something which doesn’t give me modern style... no matter what technology it may have, if it’s not fulfilling the purpose that it’s sold on ‘one tool to replace it all’, it’s not worth it... It’s a good hair drying machine for sure but it not a good styler... Now this straightener... why should I spend my money to replace my high end straightners ... only if it was something that will take me from wet to straight in one tool, which this do not do... I’ve been blindly loyal once, but not again... you’ll need more that some flexible plate technology to sell the concept... I mean, even Remington wet2straight , which is fraction of the cost, is more useful as a single tool than this or Airwrap

Kathy Park: I just purchased the curlers only thing bothering me is the price. I also own the dryer sets

Gabriella Ghioldi: Bravissimo!!!!!!

Moshe Zuchter: Great presentation. Badass!

Kim Lohner: He Use the v11 Extension for showing on the PowerPoint Demonstration thats funny

Adam Mohamed: Camera angle changed for the second swipe on the tension graph example- maybe the tension didn’t look very evenly distributed lol

mamaboo cee: My first thought when NYC was worried about having enough respirators was "Call James Dyson!" If anyone can solve this problem, its him! And sure enough, next day on the news, James Dyson is announcing that he is working on it and will have solutions within WEEKS not months like all the competition a$$ draggers. KUDOS TO MR. DYSON! Making the world a better place! You are MY HERO!

Consig1iere: Dyson solves problems that are really not problems. From hair straighteners to his silly fans, they don't solve any problems, however very stylish and original design wise. Not paying 5 times more though just for that. A Dyson V11 Torque Drive costs $600, that is just silly.

Louis Jenson: This guy could sell me anything! Haha

Renee Edgar: Would you ever consider lowering the price

lobeoteu: LOVE this Apple keynote-esque video. Great

Rob Kemp: Emergency ventilator for such powerful machineries, Dyson?

Safaa: this guy is a genius

Daniel Chu: PLEASE produce a slimmer plate for short hair and styling like the GHD mini styler!

Will Sanders: I want James Dyson to do my hair

Shinma: I watch just because i love his character, personality

Vividtwinkle: Hi May i check if dyson corrale have this auto cut off feature when machine fully charged? cause I left it overnight charging, will it damaged the battery ?

HX1000: amazing!!!!

Nathan Wray: This is a capsule in time back 2 weeks ago when we could go outside!!!

Mania28: Are you going to change your production lines to make ventilators like Gtec has said they would.

Melonie Jen: Me: This is some hot advertising :) It's £400: *laughs in poor*

Stafon Von Camron: So this is like those cordless curling irons that the girls used to use in school. It used a liquid propane to get hot.

Cre8tive Cre8tion: Found an error. If the special plate is flexible in 1 axes, but not in the other... when its mounted it can only be done on the ends of the plate. That means when you pull it on hair, the only pressure registration you can get would be on the ends of the plate... the video / pressure that it shows will of course be even... its 1 piece of metal its pulling on with sensors only on the ends.
