Coconut oil is from amazon:

Hello curlies (or wavies or whomever else). This video is a quick clip showing how I do my biweekly coconut oil treatments for my dry, flaky scalps. It helps reduce flakes and stops my scalp from itching. Give it a go and let me know how its works out.

I made the scalp scrub video I mentioned in this video. Another important part of getting rid of the flakes is exfoliating!

Hello, this is water, lily, 7, 1, 6 or Sarah, and today I'm going to be doing a video on DIY coconut oil treatments for our scalp and especially during the winter, our scalp can get very dry and it's good to waste your eyes. It just like other areas of skin on our body. So to start out, I just take a dab of coconut oil and I start rubbing it into my scalp with my finger pads all over my entire scalp. You can buy coconut oil at any grocery store. I got mine off Amazon and it's not very expensive. So it's really great. It has natural anti dandruff and anti dry scalp properties which, by the way dandruff is an infection of the scalp and you'll, have greenish or yellow flakes. And if you have plain white flakes which most people have you just have dry scalp, which just means you have dry flaky skin in that area um. This treatment is mainly for moisturizing, a dry itchy scalp, getting rid of the itch helping the skin to be healthy up there, I'm not going to guarantee that it's going to remove all flakes completely, but it will definitely decrease them is what I have found, and I, Like to do this treatment um, I could do it once a week, but I end up doing it about twice a week or once every two weeks so yeah, I'm just continuing to use my finger pads to massage the coconut oil into my scalp um and yeah. I um so I'm doing this at night and then I'm going to sleep on it and when I wake up in the morning I will rinse it out and just conditioner wash as normal. If you want to shampoo, you can, but I find that the oil just runs down my strands when I brush, and I don't need to wash it out because it makes my hair really soft. I'M just going to do a complete head, massage again with my finger pads. This is the way to remove flakes and I can do a video on an exfoliating treatment for the scalp. If you want, but yes scrubbing, your scalp is going to help remove any flakes. Next, I'm just going to braid my hair so that it doesn't get tangled while I sleep and for the ends I sprayed some water on them in some coconut oils so that they could penetrate. I mean coconut oil is actually very good for the hair as well. You can use it for deep treatments or as an ingredient, and it penetrates the hair shaft very easily um, so I'm just spreading some coconut oil on and then I'm going to braid um, and if you want you don't have to do this treatment overnight. You can also just do it for 30 or 45 minutes during the day or whenever you have time, but it does leave you with a rather oily scalp, so you do kind of need to take a shower right after you do this treatment. And yes, I'm just going to finish up my braids and I don't know if you can tell what my scalp is oily now, which is nice, because I naturally have almost no oils on my scalp, I'm just then I'm going to grab my trusty purple shower cap, Which I think I got at Walmart or maybe Sally's Beauty Supply, I'm not sure um and that's all. I hope you guys like this.

Waterlily716: It depends on your hair. If you have ever applied oil to your hair you will know what your hair needs. For thick hair that absorbs moisture easily, you can just rinse with water or "conditioner wash." For finer hair that will not absorb the oil all the way, or hair that tends to be greasy, you probably want to use a gentle shampoo. And for any type of hair you need to make sure to comb which will help as well. Please upvote y'all. This is a FAQ :)

Carmen B: My hairdresser just recommended using either coconut oil or tea tree oil on my dry, itchy scalp. I think I'm gonna try what you've done here and see how it works. Thanks!

Lynsey Haddow: Thanks for this! I was contemplating getting some coconut oil last week, but wasn't really sure how to use it so I didn't bother. Will probably give this a try soon now that I know how - I've seen a definite change in my scalp in the past 2 weeks since the weather turned colder here in the UK and could do with giving it some more moisture.

Waterlily716: Yes, I sleep in a satin sleep cat often at night. It helps keep the curls from frizzing or messing up. When doing a deep treatment on my hair instead of my scalp, I will just wrap my head in a warm towel sometimes. But the shower cap also works for those too.

Waterlily716: I might cut my hair in the summer, but not now. Yes, the shower cap makes sure the coconut oil stays in your hair and doesn't go on your pillow. You can use disposable if you don't have regular. Or wrap your hair in plastic wrap.

Waterlily716: Coconut oil has a melting point that somewhere around room temperature. So if it's colder where you are it will be harder, instead of the softer texture my coconut oil is at now. :) In the summer mine usually gets pretty melty if I leave it in the sun, to the point of turning into a liquid. You just need to scoop some up and rub it between your palms to make it softer.

SoCal0188: I'd like to see the scalp exfoliation video too : ) Sounds interesting and like it would clean the scalp really well.

gmonmymind: Loved his video! I have a question. I have naturally curly hair and I only wash it once a week, and I don't brush it when it's dry. I only brush it in the shower with a wide toothed comb with conditioner in and since I can't comb it, it gets super knotted. Mostly in the back . I was wondering if there was a way to prevent that

83croissant: I bought coconut oil because of this video and it works great for my dry scalp! thanks for the tip

: LOVE coconut oil for my hair!! its one of my fave ingredients. would love to see a video on a DIY scalp exfoliator. i'm currently using the ouidad one and like it but if a DIY is cheaper i'd prob switch lol

Waterlily716: Coconut oil will moisturize while tea tree oil will cleanse. :) Tea tree oil also has a numbing effect. You can add tea tree oil to a scalp treatment, but you only want a drop or two, because it can actually be drying.

Emma MacGregor: Sarah, how often do you oil? My hair is tailbone length and for the first time in many years I have a thick hemline, and I'm sure it's from doing a heavy coconut oiling once a week. BUT, I have to use an SLS shampoo to get all the oil out. Is there a specific shampoo or conditioner that will take the oil out? Thanks! :) M

lac92576: TYSM for getting right to the point! I'm going to try this!

Waterlily716: I personally prefer refined coconut oil because the texture is easier to work with; you can use either. :) As far as skin I don't really know because I don't use oils on my skin.

Waterlily716: I bought mine on amazon, but you can get coconut oil at any grocery store. Just make sure it's virgin, pure coconut oil. Coconut oil is liquid sometimes-- it's melting point is close to room temp.

Waterlily716: In terms of length when stretched, all people's hair grows at approximately the same rate. In terms of length with shrinkage yes your hair will appear to grow slower than straight or wavy hair people, but on the bright side it's faster than those with kinky coily hair.

musicmaniac389: do I need to get evco or is regular co ok to use on my hair? also, if I want to use any of them on my skin which one do you think is best? I heard something about regular co clogging pores and I'd like to know if they are safe to use

Boss Lady Lauren: Coconut oil could solve the worlds problems.

Ithaca Comments: I am a senior citizen and my scalp gets soooooo dry. I rub coconut or olive oil onto my scalp and then put my old winter knit hat on. It warms my head and the oil penetrates better.....sometimes I leave the hat on overnight.....then wash my hair in the morning.

daydreamer493: Wow thanks! I been looking for a treatment like this. Does it bother you to wear a shower cap to sleep? I thought about wearing one but I thought the crunchy noise that it makes when you rub it would be hard to sleep with.

Waterlily716: No, you cannot do and oil scalp treatment without making your hair greasy. That's pretty much the way it goes. You can try the sugar scalp treatment instead, but it only exfoliates it does not moisturize.

AndreandNessa4ever: Does how curly your hair is make a difference of how long/fast it will grow. I'm around 3b or 3c type curls, quite a bit curlier and way short than yours its probably around my shoulders when dry

Waterlily716: The curly girl method is not going to weight your hair down--all it does is make sure the hair is more moisturized. The type of products you use with the method (or without) it what affects hair volume. Light leave ins and mousses will always leave you with lighter hair so to speak. :)

Valerie: I looooove coconut oil! But my only problem is; how do you wash it out since you don't use shampoo with sulfates anymore? Can you explain this to me? I've been walking around with this question for a long time :)

Waterlily716: I think braids are really the best thing. You could also try rope braids though. And I recommend using water and product to refresh on the second day.

Waterlily716: It's normal to find different types of scalps with curly hair. Not everyone has dry scalp if you have curls. :) Some people's scalps just product more oil than others.

HM F: Is there any way to do that without making your hair greasy?

LeilaniV: Thank you so much for this DYI! =) btw, I <3 your hair ^-^

mldavis79: I have the same problem as the original poster (haidacudemos) with regards to my hair being SUPER tangled/knotted, particularly in the back by the nape of the neck. I've tried sleeping with my hair braided but the next day my hair looks wavy to straight. It's like the braids pulled out the curls. It's really weird. Have you experienced that ever with braids? Also, any other suggestions to help with the tangles and knots? Thanks! :)

Waterlily716: Yeah, our hair is really more alike than it looks. And remember it's about hair properties not hair type... :)

Raven4111: This shit works for dandruff.. I did it once for about an hour and my dandruff was pretty much gone scalp is much softer and not as dry. Warm it up in the microwave first. I plan to do future treatments but I am amazed at how much 1 treatment dis for my dandruff and scalp

J: Actually you can have dandruff for a couple different reasons. One just being dry skin. Not necessarily an infection

Bob Meep: i'm trying this right now and my head is SUPER itchy!! i'm hoping this works!!

Emily DelBuono: Wow very informative ❤️

Britt Bry: u can put the coconut oil on your hair and then rinse your hair with water and when your hair dries it will be moist and soft.

Maddy: where do u buy the coconut oil like that one? at salley's its the melted version one

Waterlily716: I don´t wash it out. :) I just let it absorb into my hair and scalp. This works for me because I have dry porous hair and a dry scalp. But for a lot of people this doesn´t work! Some people need a poo after an oil treatment

Whatevverrr: you are so super cute and this is so helpful! thank you :)

Waterlily716: Did you check out the linked video in the description? It's my basic video about getting rid of dandruff/dry scalp.

HM F: Great video by the way!! <3

Mariam H: Can you please post the link to get this product from Amazon? I can’t seem to find the exact one.

Waterlily716: Well if the salon products you bought aren't CG, I would go ahead and use them up before you start CG. You might try shampooing less frequently--maybe once or twice a week, and moving in some cowashes, but you need CG products to start the method.

MsNan11: Love your vids!!

Waterlily716: Yup! You can find it at any grocery or supermarket.

Lostgirl19: Beautiful hair ^_^ My hair is so straight and boring.

KeyonaBBaby: I use coconut oil on my 18 month old daughter. We don't wash it out though .

SuperSweetRasberry: i got mine at walgreens it was 15.00 $ but worth it , it lasts a long time! also @ waterlily716 you have almost no oils because of shampoo and conditioner it strips everything from your hair, i only rinse my hair 1 to 2 times a week and thats all it needs , it has gotten used to its natural oils ,and is volumeized on its own, i also do put coconut oil in it every day just a bit just for the extra benefits, though i've only just started i can't wait to see where it takes my hair! XD

Waterlily716: I don't shampoo my hair lol, so that's not the reason. :) I just have a dry scalp.

AskVivi 1: I love using home remedies for my hair, it's super curly and frizzy. I also tend to splurge on good quality products like pro naturals moroccan argan oil hair mask, at least I know they work :)

Waterlily716: How do you sleep with your hair? Have you tried braiding and putting it in a satin cap. Multiple braids are good.

flowers: your hair is perfect

Manatee()5: I like this music it's so calming lol

Mikelyn Anderson: Please do video on how to get rid of dandruff! Grrr!

Elizabeth Electrify: I just tried this and I washed my hair 3 times after and it still feels greasy like. is that how it's supposed to feel? it's only in certain spots and I don't think I put a bunch of coconut oil in.. just wondering if I did something wrong.

HE LYA: TWICE A WEEK??i have been doing that almost everyday!!!is it dangerous ?

Mikelyn Anderson: Thanks!

Megan Osowski: Finger pads

Billie: Can you coconut oil at Walmart?

Mel: exfoliating treatment vid!

K Ham: Hope you are living a wonderful life! Miss your videos.

Zainab M: I'll try this

Waterlily716: I do conditioner wash though.

Joliet: so my dad got me coconut oil from his work and its like hard it didn't look like your oil was hard. why is my oil hard lol

Jasmine Manaloto: can i buy the product in watsons

Stacy R: Confused doesn't oil feed the yeast that cause the itchy scalp ?

Kennedy: you're beautiful!

Ms.Sturry: Buy the coconut oil investment he cooking oil isle..it's cheaper and you don't have to pay shipping...its the very same coconut nut oil you can buy anywhere else...I use it to make homemade soap.

GurlPrincess: This is very similar to the Indian method of hair oiling. Look into it, I think you would like it. Products like Dabur and Parachute coconut oil have been around for a long time to assist with this method. The user "LeniGirly" does this with the specific intent of growing her hair.

Taye Darden: How did i find this channel lol whos watching in 2k19 shout out waterlilly716

Aaron Brown: You have pretty everything

Waterlily716: i don't know what a watsons is. why don't you call them and ask :)

Flowers forever: I just came back to this video to tell everyone DO NOT FUCKING DO THIS I just spent an hour and a half in the shower and an entire bottle of shampoo trying to get this out of my hair and it DOES NOT COME OUT I don’t know who this girl is but she must be walking around looking greasy as fuck if she just leaves this in like she said. This is coming from someone with thick textured/curly hair so if you have straight/thin hair I feel extremely bad for you if you tried this. I hope you like the feeling of buckets of grease on your head because this is your life now. My scalp is literally sore from scrubbing so hard with shampoo and it barely got it out. I feel like I dipped my head into a fat fryer at McDonald’s. Unless you want to be greasy af for eternity don’t even ATTEMPT to put this shit in your hair. Hopefully this comment saved someone luckily I’m in quarantine right now so I have the next 3 weeks to scrub the fuck out of my scalp and attempt to get this out.

Latoria Martin: Lol fingerpads. That's cute

Ana Becerra: Cómo hacer un gorro plástico para la cabesa

lil Lainni: She really out here saying finger pads

Waterlily716: an not and! :P

hockeylover895: My hair is almost as curly as yours, but the scalp gets pretty oily. I'm not generally an oily person on my face/body and whatnot. Any ideas what this is? Is this normal for curly hair? Thanks for being the best curly girl on youtube! WOO! :)
