#naturalhair #stopsynthetichairfromitching #itchysynthetichair

So that is coming in real quick to throw this video on my channel about how to clean synthetic hair. It'S really important, but I don't talk about it in every video, where I'm doing a style with synthetic hair. It can get pretty repetitive over time and it takes up a lot of space in my videos and I just don't have the time to talk about it. But I did notice in the last video that I posted about my rubber band jumbo braids, that a lot of people were saying. I wish I could do these styles, but it just makes my hair so itchy, so I realized, there's always somebody who might not know about this trick. So for those who don't know, if you're using synthetic hair for a protective style, it's always treated with a chemical over the hair that causes that itchiness that happens on your scalp, that kind of makes it unbearable. The good thing about this is that there is a remedy for this. You can get that chemical off and I'm gon na show you how to do that today. It'S really simple! I'M using again that Kanekalon hair that I spoke about in my last video, I'm gon na use a brand new pack that hasn't been treated. Usually when you buy synthetic hair, it comes on a rubber band. So I just take that rubber band right off of the container - and I don't take the hair out of the rubber band because we're going to be dunking this in water, we're gon na grab a plastic hanger and all I do is take that rubber band and I hang it on the curved thing: I'm only doing one pack of hair today but say you're doing a style and you need like three packs of hair four packs of hair, just kind of put them all on the loops. At the same time, balance and a reason that we're using the hanger is because it's gon na make it really easy to dunk in and out of the bucket and then also hang it up to dry. Now, you don't have to use the hanger. This is just what I do because again, it just makes it easier. If this is the hair that I told you was a man long look at this. Look at this who why what why just why? Why would you want your hair this long? I just don't understand expressions. Why are you selling hair this long? I don't get it anyway. Now we have our hair on our hanger nice and secure we're gon na take this into the bathroom and we are going to get rid of that chemical. That makes it really itchy. On top, you can use apple, cider, vinegar or regular white vinegar. For this I usually see people mostly using the apple cider vinegar, so I'm gon na use regular white vinegar this time. Just that you guys can see that this does work too. Most people tend to have white vinegar lying around. So in a bowl large enough to hold all this synthetic air you want to wash pour in a bit of your vinegar of choice. You don't need too much and then fill up the rest of the bowl with water. Now simply dump the synthetic hair into the bowl still attached to the hanger, so it doesn't tangle and you can already see the chemicals starting to come off the hair. So, just let this sit for about thirty minutes to one hour, so the vinegar can successfully remove all of that itchy chemical. So here you can see after one hour, the water is super cloudy and when I place my hand in the bowl, you can see those white particles floating around pretty nasty stuff here. So now all we do is remove the hair pour out that old water and now we're gon na rinse. This hair over and over and over again until the water runs completely clear without any cloudy or white particles. And when the water is completely clear in the bowl, we're just gon na pour that out and squeeze out the excess water and then just hang the synthetic hair up on your shower to try and a quick tip. If you're gon na rush, you can blow-dry the hair and be able to use it right away, and that's it that's all it takes to clean the synthetic hair. You will have no more itching. So if you're somebody who usually has a negative reaction and doesn't do protective styles with synthetic hair, because of this reason this is going to help you out so much all right guys. So I hope this video helped. Thank you. So much for watching and I'll see you in the next one.

MsKhati: Here I am thinking my scalp itches because i didn't put enough oil lol. Thanks for the tip!!

Quivvy Quiv: I soaked my xpressions synthetic hair in AC vinegar and water for an hour. After 3 mins the water looked DIS-GUIS-TING, my sink filled w/a cloudy film from the chemical!! Last time I had faux locs I had to take my hair out the NEXT DAY because I could NOT stand the itching. Needless to say, this method worked for me. I've had my braids in for 5 days and I'm "itch free" ladies Thank you!!!!!!!!!!

Lakia Permann: I find myself coming back to your videos SO often in my hair journey.. you taught me how to do a twist out when I was a teenager and now I’m in my 20s with my own kid ❤️☺️

BrownGirlBeauty: I swear you always have the best tips and tricks! I went natural because of you and now I'm at bra strap length! Love from London xxx

A B Day: Just wanted to say thank you for the demo. I tried and TESTED and YES! No itchy scalp. I even told the hairdresser who looked at me funny, but who cares? I'm itch-free. I used the white vinegar. Thanks again for sharing.

Keaira Johnson: I just had a baby girl June 20th and tried box braids as a protective style, but my scalp itched so bad I thought I had to try something else. I'm glad I found this video because I love how easy the style is and I get so many compliments.

Rocknalldatime99: How did I not know about this????? Seriously I was so put off because when I started doing my own box braids (as opposed to getting them done at the salon) they itched so bad that I would often ruin the look of the style in a matter of a week or two. Thank you so much!!

Tesharia Folkes: This is great! Question for you: I have braids right now and my scalp is very dry and irritated. I just got them done on wed. What's your thoughts on swabbing apple cider vinegar directly to my scalp without washing it out?

Jassy Dee: Whitney you just do not understand how much this video means to me right now! I always want to do these protective styles, but that hair has my head on fire so I just stop getting my hair done. Thank you for this, I will definitely give it a try.

Amazing Jay: Can we all just contact the manufacturers and let them know what we want? There's strength in numbers... Its our opinion that counts after all we're going to be spending the money... OR NOT! (if they don't please us)

offwhitePhotos: Thank you SO MUCH for this tip! I'm getting braids done in two days and I've got the hair soaking right now

Kay Riskay: OMG! Thank you so much for this video. I have been wearing braids for the last 11 months before I finally go natural in August. My hair has been itchy to the point of sores underneath my cornrows. I thought it was product build-up, so I changed shampoo and stopped using store bought "braid sprays". Better but still itchy. I never thought it could be the synthetic hair itself.

NaeNatural22: Thanks Whitney! You always have such great tips. Just had my daughter watch this video so she can do this for her synthetic hair before she goes back to school.

Apple 24: I Love all of your videos and I am so happy that you were able to share this amazing tip. I have been wanting to wear protective styles but the hair has always caused my scalp to itch unbearably that I just stick with the wash and go style. P.S congrats on the 2nd baby!

C Miller: Thank you for this!! I've had my box braids for almost 2 weeks & I've been scratching my head nearly everyday it's so annoying!

Mario OB: I had my hair braided yesterday and did this method with Marley hair and I was amazed to see the amount of chemical residue that came out by soaking them in the vinegar. What a scalp relief! No wonder why my scalp use to itch like crazy, poor likkle me thinking my scalp was not moisturized well smh lol - thank you

Angela Johnson: I took an entire installation out because it was itching sooo bad. I’m glad I watched this!! Thank you!!!

Jabou: Omg thank you soooo much for this video. I did box braids about 2/3 years ago and it was such a negative experience because my scalp was itching so bad and I didn’t know why. So thank you, cause I’m getting my lemonade-inspired braids this weekend

Anon ymous: As a teenager your channel has helped me alot. Thank you.

Amina Danielle: AH, This video really came in clutch! I had box braids for the first time a year ago, and It was so bad I couldn't stand it! It was the worst experience! I'll try this since I plan on installing my own this time around! Thank you!!! ♥♥♥

CALLIE20100: Thanks for the info, my granddaughter uses weave all the time for braiding. This will help her so much

Yvonne. A.: Hello Naptural Thanks for this tip. it's really informative..... Here in my country, we aren't even aware of the chemical in the extension and we are a large consumer of the Xpression hair . I have been natural for some years now, and I always love to wear my hair in braids as a protective style because of the weather in my country. thank you so much. I would love to inquire if one can use this method on wigs too and how ?

Glenda Kimbell: I do this with all my hair and crochet, it does work! I always had super nasty itchy scalp when I wore braids, and I thought I would try this as a last resort and it works.

Kaisey Treadwell: Oh my God this makes so much sense. All these years I’ve been thinking that the reason for the itching and the peeling on my scalp is because I’m not moisturizing enough. This is a game changer, why have I never though of washing the hair *facepalm*

Aleese: Omg!!! You've saved my scalp! I hardly ever do protective styles because my scalp would always get irritated and I didn't know why. Thank you for this video! I'll definitely be trying this and the jumbo braids soon

TootiesM0M: Ohhh thank you soooo much for sharing this! I style my daughter’s hair in kinky twists all the time and she never complains of a lot of itching. I recently styled my own hair in kinky twists for the first time. After 3 days it started to itch. I’d hoped to get close to a month of wearing the twists, especially since it took me all day to install them, but my scalp was itching like crazy after 2 weeks and I had to remove the hair! It never occurred to me to pre-wash and use vinegar/ACV! ‍♀️. So again, THANK YOU!!

Warzone player: Oh my goodness. Thanks so much for this tip. I have experienced this unbearable itch for days and have never used the hair since. You always provide such helpful information. Thank you.

Char Pub: Thanks!!! You’re gonna be saving my scalp and my sanity :) I itched so much the last time I had my hair braided I wanted to take it down on day 4.

Kisha_BklynShoeBabe: Thank you so much for this tip. I haven't used synthetic hair in 30 years, so I didn't know much about how to care for my daughter's scalp when it began itching a week after getting it braided. Of course, by that time the hair was already in her head. :-( So I filled a spray bottle with water and apple cider vinegar and sprayed over all the exposed scalp/parts. Then I sprayed the braids until they were damp and then wiped them down with a wet wash cloth. Finally, I used a Q-tip to hit the spots just where the braids met the roots of my daughter's hair. The process took about 20 minutes. The itching stopped immediately. I now know for next time to treat the hair before going to the salon.

Lisa Jemus: I love your channel, and THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS! My 13 year old daughter always has horrid itching when she first gets her extensions in. Going to try this. Thanks again!

Ebony Rax: Omg ! I wish I would've known this before I got my braids my scalp is so itchy I can't stand it !!

Lexi Lomax: Quick and easy explanation!Thx girl

31kittykatty: Thank you so much for sharing this tip Whitley, I'm getting ready to braid my hair as I type and really need to do this beforehand. As much as I love using X-Pressions hair, the itching drives me crazy. I honestly didn't know it was coated with a chemical, I just thought I might be allergic to it.

Lu27: Wow I thought I was going crazy when I used braiding hair last month, my scalp was oiled up & still itched like crazy. Thanks so much for this video!

Ruth: Thank youuuu! I have super sensitive skin and scalp,so this is a lifesaver.

Fontrella Cole: I am glad you showed this. I had stop getting my hair braided because of the itching. I thought it was because I was not oiling my hair enough.

From My Roots: Thanks for the tip. I used to love getting my hair done but know the hair is so itchy I can't stand it. Thanks to you know I'll be putting in some spring twist and just letting my hair be

Aris Duncan: Ive been doing something similar for years but instead of the soaking and ACV thing I just put the hair on hangers, wet them in the shower and mix neutralizing shampoo and water in a spray bottle and spray hair, let it sit and rinse. Done in like 2 minutes

Tynesha Davis: If you're itching you're most likely allergic to it so you should rinse them BEFORE you put them in to save the time lol I learned this from my friend !!! I would do her braids and she said her head itches so bad, after that she would wash them with vinegar and water and u could see the tin water turn from the chemical!!!! I'm like wooooowwwwwww. Nice video!!! ❤️❤️❤️

C John: Thanks for this. I have dermatophaia (skin gnawing) and pruritus (really bad itching). I cannot have my scalp itching, it gets really bad. This has helped a great deal!

AGBK: Thank you, Thank you! This is exactly the reason I do not wear protective styles with synthetic hair. The itching is insane. Thanks again so much!

Rea: Thanks for this tip. You just saved my daughter's hair for the entire summer

MissQuad_MissQuad: Omg @naptural85 thanks for sharing this vid. This is the exact reason why I don't do protective styles with synthetic hair but now after see this video...I'm definitely going to try some styles. Thank you so much!!! Oh btw I love your channel

Shanna: I learned the hard way that I had a sensitivity to synthetic hair! I had cute cornrows and I swear three days later they itched so bad at 3 am I was taking them out. I tried to wash them with ACV but nothing relieved it other than taking them out. Thanks Whit, I remember your first video on this! PS where are your cute babies!? :-)

Trudie-Ann Wade: Thank you so much for this tip, I stopped doing protective style because of the itch from the braids. Thanks queen

Angela and Kyle: Great video!!! I do this every time I want to do a protective style and it really helps

Artice: Perfect!!!!! Can’t believe I let myself suffer this long!

EL Sut: I’m going through the same thing with Human Hair Wet Wavy Hair. I opened a pack, the smell was bad, I started itching immediately, lips/face swelled up. I had to do a ACV soak 3 different Times I’m doing my (4) last ACV soak tonight if there’s no change I know I’m definitely allergic. Back in the day I wore human hair individual’s wet wavy hair with no problems.

Giovanni Smith: Thank you so much, I've been getting my hair braided more this year and the itch has been to real. Now that I know this, I am so so so happy. Thank you!

Alfredasworld: It does work. I had a wig that was driving me crazy. Washed it in apple cider vinegar and it have been perfect every since.

K. Reclusiveness: Thank you! I’ve had skin issues for years because of this. Recently decided that I can’t live without braids and have to wash all my hair first before installing.

Tanya Thompson: hey Whitney shhhhh and don't let them start cutting the length of the hair. Girl what u mean why I need the hair so long??? Honey I could split that hair in 4 sections so instead of buying 10 packs of hair I can get away with 5 maybe even 3. So honey let's keep this secret from the manufacturer. Thank you :)

Rychekl: This is great, I've done this with my crochet faux locs, mambo twists etc.. also when reusing hair you can soak again (doesn't have to be as long the second time) and wash with a basic shampoo.

Paula Uzuka: Thanks for sharing this information. I have always had a bad reaction to synthetic hair. My scalp itches like crazy then my face starts breaking out..Sooo happy you posted this!!!!

Kelsey B: Wow I can’t wait to take my current braids out and with my new style I’m doing this!!!

Alon the Don: Thank you for this I'm allergic to apples so when this whole apple cider vinegar trick came out I was really sad because everyone was able to use it and they'd get a great reaction to it. Because I can't even be near them or I get a rash. I'm glad you've found an alternative for people allergies and sensitive skin as well.

cocopecan: I always wash my braids a few times the same day it's done which stops the itchiness immediately. I continue to wash my hair weekly until I take my braids out. I will try rinsing with vinegar as well.

Never4saken 1: Thanks for posting this video. I know it's super old but I've heard of this but was always too lazy to do it. I will from here in out. I think it's something in the hair that's causing a lot if us to get scalp fungus and cause all these issues with on our scalp

Mishele Clipper: Thank you, thank you, thank you. I stopped wearing my braids because I thought it was me! I have worn braids of many styles off and on for well over 30 years and thought them days were over. I need to look glamorous and be free during the holidays and only figure out what dress to wear. This is a gift.

Erica Mays: Thank you so much as usual! I really want to keep my hair in protective styles this winter.

Beverly Rivera: Legit works. I use ACV rinses for my scalp with a few drops of tea tree oil (about 3-4) with rinse. I viewed video to see if this would work on crochet hair, and it will. Rinse off those chemicals first.

Ashlee Jones: Thank you for being so straight to the point.

SK space: That's my biggest issue with braided styles, the itching is ridiculous . I wonder if there's hair without the chemical . I'll have to try this trick.

D P: Hi Whitney I know this is off topic from this video but I wanted to know if you have ever heard of using hibiscus flowers and fresh Indian gooseberries (amla) for hair? I've heard that you can make an oil out of them but I've only seen it used on silkier hair textures so I wanted to know if it would work on kinkier textures. Thank you !

Emma Mccoy: This is GREAT!! I have such a horrible reaction to synthetic hair. Once I got my whole head done (in box braids) & my scalp, back of my neck & certain parts of my face were so itchy I had to remove the braids the next day, Losing all that time & money. It took a couple of days for my scalp to feel normal TY for this tip

A: Queen of tips and tricks! I didn't even know synthetic hair had chemicals in it sadly... All those years of my life..

Anetra. Nee: I had to remove my faux locs after only 5 days b/c of extreme itching. I wish I would've seen this video beforehand. Thanks for sharing.

niki!: you are always so informative. im sure many women appreciate that, including myself!

Courtney Moore: Thank you so much! I don't do protective styles just for that reason! Always thought I had a over sensitive scalp!

Jaloria Vance: Omg this really works! Just got new goddess locs installed, felt like fire ants on my head! I soaked them and all this white foam floated to the top. My head stopped itching and burning like Immediately! Rinse wash repeat! Don't stop until your head feels better! So many chemicals came out in the soak. I dumped the bin every time the water got cloudy and started re-burning me. I put essential oils in the mix so when I washed my hair in the shower it just smelled like lavender and Jasmine. If they are already installed and hurting you, THIS ADVICE IS LIFESAVING. Thank you so much! This Irish American is now proudly sporting her faerie locs PAIN FREE. As it should be. Thank you!!!

Purple Waves: I had no idea about this trick. Thank you SO much for the info!

CreativelyPhoenix: Glad to know I'm not the only one that deals with that itchy craziness from braiding hair

TamTam M: It's good to prep the hair before you put it in! Water rinse+vinegar and then conditioner+water with oil of choice no itchy scalp

Una Roberts: Thank you for the advice Very helpful!

MELLY: This was really helpful! I had no idea that the hair had chemicals in it. Thank you!!

Elam Fotoyi: To save time, you can measure how much length you want and than soak the part that's actually going to be installed to your hair, to save water , vinegar and time ✔✅

Jamie Lee: Thank you naptural85 that dang itch is the reason I stopped doing protective styles with synthetic hair definitely going to test your remedy out! Thanks for sharing!

Brianna Nicole: Omg thank youuu! Synthetic hair drives my scalp crazy with itchiness going to try this next protective style I get!

George Harris: Sitting here scratching my scalp with a comb while reading these comments.... Looking at my jar of Sulfur8 like it betrayed me

hadrianshere: I love the hair in this video! I need a tutorial please

Lily Laston: OMG! Thank you. I just got my hair braided. I wish I’d see this yesterday. I put a bunch of oil, then washed it, and now I’m thinking about take them off like right now. I cannot even sleep.

Brandi Reed: So I got the Freetress hair, and I soaked if for 4 hours! It barely had that film at all. BUT I only rinsed it once. Then I shampooed it. My scalp is DYING! So I must not have rinsed it enough before shampooing it. I will know better next time I do it. Thank you!!

Pocahontasnc: Here's the short version of my story about the human hair I had sewn in...on my honeymoon. A total nightmare! I had the worse allergic reaction I've ever experience! Red eyes; runny nose; sneezing. I didn't know it was the hair! I thought I'd gotten sick in Florida due to the drastic change in climate or something. When I realized it was the hair–make a long story short–and got back home, I drove to the stylist's H-O-U-S-E because it was on a Sunday. When she saw how sick I was she couldn't believe it. I begged her to remove the hair before she went to church, and bless her heart, she did. Whew!! So if I ever buy some again, I know what to do.

April Harris: Thank you so much ! I’m getting faux locs this Tuesday and it’s my 1st braid/synthetic hair experience.

ladynefertitibk: This was such a helpful video. Thank you.

prettiimpressive: you're a life saver! Never knew this possible to avoid the itch of death

Destinee H: Thanks so much for this! I'm getting my hair braided tomorrow

TheQueenE2: Thank you for using white vinegar!!! I don't have any issues with acv but for those who want save a little more this is perfect.

Tay Tay: You are the real MVP! I want box braids but the last time I had them I took them out within ten days. I was so over my scalp itching.

DominicanMerida: When you said "Who wants hair that long?" I was like... I do! My hair is naturally down to my butt which makes these styles time consuming because I have to separate the hair into multiple sections to make one long enough to go past my natural hair.

Kasumichick2772: Wow! First time someone mentioned to wash the synthetic hair out before placing it on your hair to prevent future itching. Thank you so much! ❤❤❤

CazBryan: I finally remembered to wash my expression hair before doing my box braids rubber band method. Ohhh my gosh it feels Devine not having that itchy feeling. Thank you so much for sharing.

bth. rj: Thanks for this video im getting my hair done with synthetic hair and I'm going to make sure I wash it before I get it installed. I usually never get braids with synthetic hair because it makes my scalp so itchy it starts to bleed but im pretty sure if I wash the hair I will not have any irritation in on scalp

Tashari DaSilva: Life saver! Great video! Thank you!

Ms Nae: Really helpful, thank you so much

Leila: Can you make a video on removing product buildup from your scalp? It would help me so much cause your videos are always very informative :)

Rene Curry: Thank you sooo much for this information!!! I was getting desperate 'cause I'm so tired of wigs. Plus, when I travel to visit friends, wigs are too much of a hassle. It's trying to hide the fact that I am "wigged." Crochet is now my love, but was in despair because the hair itched. Vinegar is the model "cure" for so many things! Again, muchos gracias!!

ItsMelaniesWorld: Thank you!! I feel like it irritates my scalp so much, I have to take it down quickly

Ciara Greene: Omg I though my scalp was just dry!!! Haha! Thank you for loading this video

Janell H.: I always get braids and it always drives me crazy. Im definitely about to do this before i get my hair done in 2 days
