[ Sarah ], Hey guys, I'm really excited because today, I'm gon na show you how I make my own natural shampoo.. This gentle shampoo will help prevent hair fall. It helps heal scalp conditions like dandruff and itchy scalp, and it leaves your hair so soft and shiny., And I did not invent this recipe. It'S a recipe. That'S been used in India for centuries.. However, I love it so much and I wanted to show you exactly how I make and use it, because I think it's absolutely incredible and it's the perfect thing to add into your holistic, haircare routine.. So, to make this shampoo, you will need seven to eight pieces of dried Shikakai, pods, seven to eight pieces of dried Reetha.. I like to use the kind that already has its seeds taken out., A small handful of dried Amla, berries and one to two tablespoons of Fenugreek seeds.. You may need to adjust the proportions of these ingredients for your hair type depending if you have oily hair dry, hair, thick, hair, thin hair., So just play around with it and find what works best for your hair type.. So, let's take a look at some of the benefits of our key ingredients.. First up we have Shikakai. Shikakai translates to fruit for hair and it's been used for centuries as a cleanser for the hair and body. It contains saponins. So that's why it kind of suds up and can act like a cleanser., It's rich in vitamins and antioxidants. So it helps promote hair growth. It helps reduce hair fall, its antifungal properties help with things like dandruff. And it has a low pH, so it won't strip your hair off its oils.. So it's basically amazing for your hair. Next. We have Reetha also known as soapnuts, and you might have seen them before being advertised as a natural laundry detergent alternative and that's because they also contain saponins., So they're a gentle way to wash your hair skin or even your clothes., And they also contain natural antibacterial And antifungal properties to help with scalp conditions., And then we have Amla commonly known as Amalaki or Indian gooseberry.. Amla is so amazing for the hair.. It'S extremely high in vitamin C. Amla is known to strengthen the hair roots, reducing hair fall and encouraging healthy hair growth.. It'S even said to prevent premature greying., It's just wonderful for the scalp and hair., And next we have Fenugreek seeds, also known as Methi seeds, and these help prevent hair fall and help promote healthy hair growth. With regular use. people say it helps thicken their hair and It makes a great detangler because of its high mucilage content, so it adds that slip to the shampoo that helps kind of condition and add shine to your hair. And Fenugreek is also amazing to help eliminate dandruff and other scalp conditions, and it just adds volume to The hair and makes your hair feel soft and shiny and smooth.. I love fenugreek.. You can also add in other ingredients to suit your hair type as well.. For instance, I love adding in marshmallow root because, like Fenugreek, it helps condition and detangle the hair and both Fenugreek and marshmallow will slightly thicken the shampoo as well.. You can add things like neem or Tulsi to help scalp conditions or herbs like rosemary and sage to help condition the hair. But today I wanted to keep it really simple.. One thing to note is Shikakai and Amla can darken your hair over time.. So if you have a really blonde hair, you might want to take that into consideration., So place her herbs into a bowl and then add about three cups of filtered water and let that sit overnight.. This is how it'll look the next morning. You can see. It'S already starting to foam you guys, it's like real shampoo. It'S so cool., However we're gon na cook it to make it even more concentrated.. So I'm just gon na transfer the herbs and liquids into a pot and bring that to a boil. And once it's boiling, I turn it down to a low heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.. Then I turn the heat off completely and just let it cool down. And I'm just taking my hands and kind of mashing it up to get all the goodness out of those herbs.. Now I just strain it to separate the liquid from the solid matter. You can probably even use a nut milk bag. If you want., Then I transfer it into a squeeze bottle.. Now you could just put this in a cup and just pour it over your head.. However, the squeeze bottle method is the best way to use this. In my experience., So that's what I'm doing.! This shampoo will last around a week in the refrigerator or you can freeze it in an ice cube tray, and you can just toss them out whenever you need to wash your hair. And if you're wondering how much of the shampoo you need to use. Well. For my long thick hair that's longer than my waist, I use the whole bottle. And then for someone with shorter hair, like maybe up to their chest. They could probably get away with half a bottle. That'S how much my mom uses and her hair's a bit medium. Length. And if you have really short hair, you can get away with a quarter or even one eighth of the bottle.. When my dad was using this, he was able to get many uses out of one bottle., So just test it out and see how much you need for your hair length and hair type.. Now I find this works best when first applied to the scalp on dry hair., So I just take my squeeze bottle and kind of separate my hairs, so I can apply the shampoo directly to the scalp. Since I have a lot of hair.. This helps me get it right into the roots, and I just find it's easier to apply this way.. I use about half of the bottle for my scalp and then I put the rest on the length of my hair. You'll, be shocked at how well it cleans your hair.. This won't lather like traditional shampoo., So it might take some getting used to, but it really cleans your hair without the lather.. I guess it almost feels more, like you're doing a hair rinse., And I sort of just massage that in and I like to leave it on my hair for two to five minutes.. I will say I find on days when I oil, my hair. The shampoo is a bit too gentle to get all the oil completely out., So I prefer to use my regular Calia shampoo when I do a hair mask or an oil treatment, and then I use this when I just want a gentle shampoo. And a little tip. If your ends are really dry, you can first apply a bit of oil like jojoba or argan oil into your ends before shampooing your hair., And to apply it to the rest of my hair. I like to wet my hair from mid length to the ends., And then I take a little basin or a bowl, and I squeeze the rest of the shampoo into that. And then I fill it up with shower water and just dump the length of my hair into the basin and swish it around.. So I like to apply it onto my dry scalp, but then I prefer my ends to be wet when I apply it., And this is just what works for me since I have such long hair. But you can also apply the shampoo directly to the length of your hair or you can just put the shampoo into a cup or a basin and dump that over your hair and scalp., And this is very important., Make sure you keep your eyes closed. While using the shampoo, because if it gets in your eyes, it stings like crazy and it's gon na leave your eyes bloodshot., It's gentle in your hair, but not on your eyes. And believe it or not. I usually don't use conditioner on my hair, while using the shampoo.. I find that it leaves my hair feeling nice on its own, but you could throw in some conditioner on your ends. If your hair is really dry and damaged., Or you could just finish it off with an herbal rinse or an apple, cider, vinegar, rinse. And then I just usually air dry, my hair after using this to keep my hair as healthy as possible., And I will mention At first I had difficulty tracking down these herbs in their whole form, so I will link down below where I purchase mine from.. But if you are having a hard time finding these ingredients, you can use the powdered versions since they're, usually more widely available.. I personally prefer using the whole pods versus the powder, since it just seems more fresh, and I know it's pure., But my second favorite way of making the shampoo is by making a tea out of the powders.. So I'll quickly show you how I do that. You can start with about a tablespoon of each powder., Then add around one cup of hot or boiling water to the powdered herbs, and let that sit for about 15 to 30 minutes. I'll. Just let it sit until it's totally cooled off and then strain it through a nut. Milk bag. And the straining part is very important. If you have a long, thick hair like me, where the powder residue can be kind of hard to rinse out of your hair., And you can use this tea the exact same way, I showed you a second ago.. So with that batch I just use the Shikakai Reetha and Amla powder., But here I wanted to show you another batch. I made where I added a bit of Fenugreek and you can see how it's a bit thicker in consistency.. So this is a good example of how Fenugreek can thicken it. Up.. Oh and you can use the leftover pulp as a gentle cleansing scrub on your body and face to make use of it. And then another option for using the powders is to just add enough. Hot water into the powders to create a paste and then apply that to your scalp and hair and leave it on for a while to soak in and then rinse it out.. I don't like using the paste method myself, because I find it's messy and hard to rinse out of my hair., But if you have shorter hair it could be a good option for you.. So that's how you can make your own natural and organic shampoo at home.. I really hope you enjoyed this video. And feel free to follow me on Instagram. I post lots of hair related content, vintage dresses, gemstones holistic health, all sorts of fun stuff.. So I will link that down below.. I love you guys. So much and I'll see you in my next video. Anyways thanks a lot for making this video, you really are blessed with most beautiful healthy hair

Ankita Minhas: As an Indian my mum used to put all that in my hair when I was a kid and I still use it sometimes now. It totally works!

Bum BuM: I'm from India ,,, but in India we first blend all the jadibuti (herbs) together and store it into a jar ,,,so whenever we need it we take two tbs of that mixture with one cup water then we boil it until it reduced to half then we keep it over night and then in the morning we do the straining Proses and then we use it directly,,,so as I said we put it overnight ,so the reason behind is the herbs get extracted really well ,,,so ,,your shampoo is too runny in consistency ,,,bcs u didn't reduced it ,,,we'll keep growing love from India...

Amitasangeet29: Thank you for this lovely video and your wonderful presentation! How delighted I am as an Indian to see you use these ancient Ayurvedic herbs to wash your hair. Though I was raised around these, I found myself instead using a whole lot of bottled products with fancy labels. Now after suffering hair damage from anti frizz chemically filled products and counter shampoos with impressive labels that did no good, I’ve turned back to all of these herbs and also add neem and hibiscus flowers to this diy shampoo. I use the powders not seeds. Hope this restores my hair to the long thick hair I had. I’m sure it takes patience and time. Your cascade of hair is truly beautiful. I hope this shampoo made a big difference to you. ❤️

aliciabrillante: Everything was amazing about this video. The music and scenery were lovely as was your hair. The explanations were perfect and thanks for showing how to make it with the powders as those whole ingredients are hard to find. I usually put a lot of oil in my hair but I'm interested in trying this anyways. Thanks for sharing!!!

sunshynebliss: Been following you since 68k...I must say you’ve come a long way..I’m proud of you and you inspire me very much. I love you Sarah. Love from India ❤️

vargas: I can attest to the fact that amla and amla oil is excellent for the hair. I've been using it for a few years and my hair is much stronger than it used to be.

Jennifer Boban Leon: Thank you for letting us know about this herbal diy shampoo. I made it and used it. My hairfall has reduced, dandruff is gone, my frizzy hair has moisture now and it shines too. Overall it's an amazing creation for hair problems. I used the paste as a hair mask and it worked well for my short hair. Thank you soooooooo much!

The witches' cookery: I absolutely love this! So far I am only washing my hair with chickpea flower mixed with water and sometimes essential oils but this seems to have so many benefits! Will definitely give it a shot

Julia Aida Gottschalk: Thank you for this! works super duper well <3 the only downside is when kept around a week plus in the fridge it can get moldy and it's not foamy. other than that, I recommend you to try this!

boywhatdahellboy: She has such an aesthetic prettiness and she always boosts my mood✨

Aashrya Sharma: Have been using this remedy since childhood. Its a chemical free blessing for hairs. Thanks for considering our ancient practices. Much love from India

pratibha navalihal: I started following your shampoo recipe and it's really awesome. My complete family uses this. Love from India ❤️

Charlotte Duclos: Hi, thank you so much for the video ! Super interesting ! Do you think a diluted version of this could be used as a spray-on dry shampoo ? Thanks

Gayathri M: Proud to say that I've been using the same shampooing technique for 2 years now, I can say that my hair which had a brownish shade is all black and thick now, and the conditioning this shampoo does is amazing. Definitely the best for people with thinner hair or hair fall issues, which in my case I have hypothyroidism and thin hair(used to have, but it's definitely better now)and I swear by this shampoo my whole life. Bit time and effort consuming but definitely gives you positive result overtime with consistent use.

L Hernandez: Recently I have seen that my hair has been thinning. I've tried some natural remedies but have seen little change. I will buy all these ingredients and try this out. I remember going to India and saw a lot of women having beautiful long hair! I really admire their culture and for all the amazing herbs and natural remedies that they have. EDIT: SO ... after so long and procrastinating on getting the ingredients I finally made it and will try to update in the next 2 weeks on my experience. My hair has been thinning even more for some reason. So Im ready to start and see a natural difference in my hair :)

Flower SafeHeart: One commenter suggested first massaging scalp with oil(s) before using this shampoo. That reminds me of something I've been thinking about which is: in skincare it's often recommended to double-cleanse, which means oil or oil-based cleanser first (to remove grime, well especially sunscreen and makeup) - THEN a water-based cleanser which truly removes the oil along with the grime. (Plus if I'm understanding this right, plant-based oils are emollients which is a barrier that both seals in any moisture already there and prevents good products from absorbing in, so I imagine leaving on oils that aren't washed off is best as a last step after all products and moisturizers). So it makes sense to me to first oil-massage scalp (also for the massage therapy/reflexology benefits plus different oils help balance different Ayurvedic doshas such as sesame oil calms/grounds Vata...could stand on towel or sit to not slip or even get full-body oil massage before shower) then use a gentle, water-based shampoo (such as perhaps this video's recipe which looks so fun). Especially if someone uses hair products, sweats, or gets dirty. And double-cleanse helps remove bacteria, odor, and old skin cells. As for nourishing, strengthening, softening, smoothing, shine, volumizing, defining, and hydrating ingredients, I'd think the most important place for those and spending much money (for hair or skin) is as a leave-on step after the double-cleanse since it'll have such longer contact with body than a quickly washed-off cleanser. Such as in a leave-in conditioner or deep conditioner or protein mask or well-formulated gels/creams/milks/mousses/sprays/whatnots for hair (or serums and moisturizer for skin). Then maybe seal and smooth it all up last with a little oil (probably better than silicone)? Disclaimer: I'm no scientist or hair expert, just trying to logically put together guesses and pieces of things I've learned from a zillion videos (and used to work in massage). Please everyone always do your own research and consult experts! I'm very open to feedback and continual learning! Also: great video! I'm curious how the gorgeous footage at the end was filmed! Edit: After writing all this I watched the video again. Whoops, it says leave this shampoo on 2-5 minutes (so guess it is on long enough for ingredients to have an effect). And it does mention oil as a first step but says it doesn't remove oil so there is another shampoo suggested for that. Cool!

Gertrude Paul Galbano: Hi, I'm from India, thanks for sharing this video. We hv been using this from childhood by our ancestors and its passed on to us. Don't believe in chemical shampoos, but give this a try and you will love this shampoo and forget the chemical shampoo. God bless you all..

Dr. Piroja Vispi Pardiwalla: Herbal Shampoo: 7-8 pieces Shikakai 7-8 Areetha (without seeds) Handful of Amla 1-2 tbsp Methi seeds Soak overnight in 3 cups of water. Cook it to a boil, then simmer for 10 mins. Cool. Mash herbs with hands and strain through nut bag. Put in a squeeze bottle. Can be used upto a week in a fridge. Apply shampoo to dry scalp and hair. Massage that in leave it on hair for 3-5 mins. Wash off with water.

Anon Starstruck: Guys im telling you this recipe works wonders. I am pakistani and i have been using it for a while now. I used to have really bad hairfall but ever since i switched to this herbal shampoo, it has reduced significantly. One day my dad even asked me if i was wearing extensions. Kindly do give it a try. Its so worth it. P.s sorry for my english. Its not my first language.

Priyanka's Diaries: i made the same recipe. loved it

Gayatri Deshmukh: This video is perfect example of how informative YouTube video should be. All aspects covered. All alternative methods covered. All info rightly explained.

Swati Jain: Thank you for such a detailed and well explained video. You literally covered everything.

Christine Ribone: 2nd week trying this. I'm excited to see the results after a year using this!! Thanks for the recipe!!

saumya singhai: In india we have been using it since ages..but due to westernisation we kind of lost into the world of chemicals..however people in rural areas still use this recipe as shampoo..and they have really great hair..thank you for making this video..its a great inspiration

Gabisky: Your videos really calm me down when I’m sad or mad, I juste come here and it allows me to calm myself and think more about my actions, thank you! You’re really talented!

Anzelle Wilkins: Do I have been using this shampoo for a few months now and I can see a huge difference in my hair! It is healthier and my scalp feels amazing! Thank you!

Lindz Dinz: Love this channel!! Something about it is just so relaxing in these crazy times. Getting alot of great tips!!

Диана Геракьян: I’ve tried it with just powder of those herbs and it worked wonders, my hair was clean, shiny and silky. I was amazed

zennia SANDHU: Hey, great video, thanks for sharing all the info. Could you also please let us know how long have you been using this shampoo? And how frequently do you wash your hair with this shampoo in a week? Thanks

Chrissy Mullins: I think we would all love some content on natural remedies with items that are easier to access. Love, love ALL your content! ♡

Pragya Dogra: A great tip - don't throw away the residue. One just needs to remove seeds if any, and then grind the residue (add some water if required) and use that paste as well. It's just same / even better than using plain boiled water

Monique Carmack: I just bought an Ayurvedic shampoo with all natural ingredients from an Indian shop! Today was my first day using it and it was lovely! I incorporate these powders into my conditioners and I use the fenugreek seeds in my spray bottle ( I boil it like tea) And my hair has been thriving! I will try this recipe once I run out of shampoo ^^

Khaola ESSIHI: Thank you so much for sharing this really! I am really happy I could finally make a natural shampoo. I was dreaming of this because my hair got damaged from the unatural shampoos. And thank you for all the explanations. Your channel is very instructive!!

srujana k: I'm from India ❤️ and my uses it all the time and i started using it from 6months because she told it's best for hair loss and I'm soo happy with it

Salma Rahman: I am from Bangladesh and proud to say that my ancestors had been using these methods for a long time. Specifically Amla , methi, aloe Vera and coconut oil and trust me this works extremely well.

MG Naturals: Your hair is gorgeous!!! Thanks for this recipe!

znpower: Methi dana (seeds) are so good for health. You can also use them in food, esp. when cooking indian vegetable stew. Beside their nutritional benefits, these seeds give amazing flavor in food. You must try it! I never know methi dana can also be applied to hair. Amazing! thanks

Vandana Jain: Yay!! I'm gonna try it out, I have all the ingredients Edit- I tried it it turned out well but it doesn't took out all the oil from my hair and leave them sticky and therefore my hairs were looking thinner, that's why Im little disappointed for that only, otherwise it is really good

Ramsha Khalid: I exactly have shikakai amla and reetha's powder mixed for so long I was thinking to make their shampoo and you came up....you literally saved me from ruining everything thank you... Btw you can also eat that amla you have it would taste good❤️

西嶋剣: can we appreciate her narration in her videos, so soothing

Aikaterini-Maria Gkouzi: This is literally the best shikakai shampoo tutorial that exists on YouTube. Great job Sarah!

Nalva Marques: Gostei pena que não dá para saber os produtos usados mais parece ótimo ❤

Geeky Rendezvous with Shruti: This is exactly what all Indian grandmothers used...and their hair were amazing and never greyed.....Love from India♥️♥️♥️

Fatima Sal: I Tried it twice and it was amazing and I love it

Cynthia S: Wow, really happy to see you using indian recepie . I literally teared up remembering my childhood days when my eyes got stinged from the shampoo. Well done. After watching your video i got inspiration to use them again . God bless you, keep growing , keep rocking

Steffy Varghese: I can say that the method you mentioned are absolutely perfect, am from India....I don't use bottled store bought shampoo or conditioner but rather make my own at home, it's a bit of hardwork but it's worth it guys ....it's not like I've been using it from childhood, I really had good hair while in school then in college my hair got real bad, bcoz I didn't care enough, also started using shampoo and conditioner which I thought were doing good but it was not, it got so frizzy and dry, also so much hairfall....then I tried to stay away from these chemicals loaded shampoo for a long time....then started making these shampoo at home..... let me tell you guys I have been using this natural methods since like almost 4 yrs and hairfall has reduced and it's gentle andd doesn't wash away the good oils from the scalp, you don't even need conditioner atleast I don't use it.... sometimes u feel dry then may be just a pump or two of oil at the hairtips and just leave it like that it will get absorbed and condition your hair well, also one good thing is I have never ever used dryer or blower to dry my hair, it was always air drying, here in India most of us do air drying only and hair is very much sensitive to heat so no heat goes into hair.....I just love how people are starting to recognise the methods we have in our country since ages and transitioning to this method was the best I made for my hair. Have a good hair day

claudianu1: Your voice and the whole video is so calming, I love the soft but clear tone of your voice. Most influencers yell or talk too much, unnecesary stuff. You have reached just the perfect way! Thank you, I have also subscribed.

Nancy or Keith M: Omg this is fascinating. I totally believe this is the way to go. I use as natural shampoo and conditioner as possible (in natural hair care section) but I’m thinking this is THE GOAL!!!

Pushpa YoutubeLibrary: Excellent video and yes, it works. :) When I was a teenager I used to be embarrassed to say I used seegekai on my hair, but now 20 years later, I'm proud to say that I oil my hair three times a week and use seegekai to wash my hair. Most of my friends who use fancy shampoos have lost 70% of their hair, but I have thick, black and silky hair. It is thanks to the herbal remedies passed down from my great grandmother to my grandmother to me. My grandmother used to say - don't ask a model in her 20s what she uses, instead look at the old woman whose head is full of thick shiny hair and ask her what she does. That's what I'm doing. I want to have thick beautiful hair when I'm in my 90s :)

Sakshi Dhawale: Being Indian i m proud of my ancestors for such natural remedies love from india keep growing

D: I hope one day my hair is as healthy and long as yours! Your videos are so relaxing, looking forward to your next!

Alexandria: You can also find the whole ingredients at an Indian grocery store for cheaper than they have on Etsy :) especially with everything going on it’s a great way to support local small businesses. The ones I got are great quality.

Shikha Jain: Hi ,have been using this herbal shampoo for 2 weeks now and I can see significant changes in my hair texture, thickness .My hair fall has reduced.tysm for this lovely recipe it did wonders to my hair..☺️

Mani Gupta: I am from India and made this herbal shampoo last week. I have used two times now and hope to see the benefit in the near future :) One thing I have noticed is my hair has got a bit straighter tho

Nivetha Deivendran: Indian trust things more when they are taught about it by Non Indians who actually believe without prejudice and really give it a chance. Thanks a lot for this Video Ma'am.

Priya Nagpal: Great tips My Mom also use to apply Amla & She had great Hair

Lifesabeast: I have used this for months now. This works! My hair is touching my bottom now! Even if one just uses The soap nuts and water alone it works. Boil it for 15-20min let cool and use---non stripping. Love it

Lavanya Rahul: Let me start off by saying how healthy and gorgeous your hair looks. It's beautiful. And you take such wonderful care of it. Thank you for explaining all of it so wonderfully. In my family, we have been using these powders for as long as I can remember. It has been passed down for generations in our house. Another thing we use along with all those you have mentioned, especially for children, since shikakhai can be quite unforgiving on the eye, is skip it altogether and use the leaves or powder of a tree called albizia amara. It's like the soap nut and very gooey but doesn't sting at all. We also add fresh or powdered curry leaves and hibiscus. It might sound like it's a lot, but we get fresh ingredients, dry them during summer and powder them to last a few months.

Minu Moosa: Lots of love from India. I have used these ingredients and seen positive results. However, just one suggestion. I would advice against using the leftover pulp on face and body as these amazing ingredients tend to increase hair growth on your skin as well. So kindly be careful before doing so.

Ishandebee: Just what I was looking for. Thank you. I have been listening to Darin Olien's Fatal Conveniences Podcasts and heard the one on shampoos etc and what's really in them that is toxic for our skin/bodies. Looking forward to obtaining the ingredients to make shampoo and body wash/soap for my family.

Cheryl DeKoevend: You mentioned in the video that the Shikakai can darken your hair. Do you have a suggestion of an herb that wouldn't darken my hair? My hair is down to my waist, but I want to grow it longer. Have you tried Irish Sea Moss or Aloe Vera for hair growth?

Nargis Mayel: Oh m god this is amazing I am more into Reetha I use it as a natural shampoo and it works well and it helps m hair feel amazing. Also thanks for sharing other ingredients I didn't about them that they could be natural shampoos as well..anyway thanks a lot it was helpful

Tipala: You can use conditioner for the paste. I always add 2 tbl into the paste and you'll have a gloss. I just add in henna or cassia and it's easy to rinse out and leaves no mess :) Soothing and beautiful video as always <3

Faizy Khan: Hey sister, you can also use black seeds(kalonji) it has uncountable benefits on hair and body

Anna Bencheck: I started using the powders about 6 months ago because of hair fall. It is amazing! But I do it a little differently. I purchased cotton muslin bags, put the powder in the bag and then add the boiling water. I let it steep overnight and then squeeze the bag to get as much liquid out as possible without getting the powder. I then thicken the liquid with xanthan gum so it applies more like a shampoo and doesn’t just run off my head. My hair is medium length but very fine and I found that if I didn’t thicken it, it just ran off. After I apply the thickened liquid, I cover my hair with a shower cap and let it sit for 10-15 minutes and then rinse off. It is amazing how clean my hair feels! The hair fall has been greatly reduced to maybe less than a quarter of what it had been. My hair seems slightly thicker and it has gradually gotten darker. I am never going back to shampoo again!

Penny Pike: I ordered the powders from Amazon. I can't wait to try this!! Think you will ever make a video on how to make your own natural lotion or body scrub?

Marine Tenfou: This video is EVERYTHING! Thank you so much! I've been using these plants as shampoo for years and they are amazing! Ayurveda is really cool in every way in my opinion :D Most of the time I use Sidr, also known as jujube powder in my shampoo as well, it's very efficient and teams up really well with shikakai :D plus the texture is so cool ^^

Shwetha Ramesh: This is my childhood! When my mum used to wash my hair and I loved the feeling shikakai on my hair.

Blue bird fam: With this you can also add dried neem leaves, tulsi, curry leaves, aloe vera, green gram, Hibiscus if you have all this in powdered form instead of liquid form, you can store for about 7month also. but make sure you don't leave any residues in your hair , wash it thoroughly.

Twinkle Siddiqui: I use these ingredients for hair pack and I swear my hair have become more silky and shiny!! It's been a month those ingredients are really effective for sure!!

After many failed attempts at shampoo bars and diys, i tried this as a final go - it works! My hair is the cleanest and softest it's been in a long time! We have very hard water here. I used dried whole soapnuts and the other ingredients i used in powder form, i also added neem powder and marshmallow root powder. Thank you so much for this recipe!

padmini krishnan: I am from India and this recipe works wonders on the hair. Thanks for posting this. I've been wanting to make this but I don't find the whole herbs in the US. I find the powders in the Indian stores though but I too prefer using the whole herbs!

Kannadathiya Adugemane: I'm from India and im so proud of you ❤️❤️❤️❤️ for showing this to the whole world

surprisingly abi: Wow...it's a very nice video. I am an Indian and I just love the fact that people from different countries also trying these things . Nice video .

Lilani Kun: I bought a powder version of this once and it went SO WRONG, the one I bought had to be used a clay which got stuck on my scalp which worsened my hairloss. However, I now use it as a liquid form just like in the video and its great! I personally do not use it as a shampoo, I use my own SLS, silicone free shampoo thats packed with healthy ingredients, but I use this herbal wash as a hair rinse instead! I wash my hair, then I put the herbal water on my scalp and just let it sit whilst washing my body and it is THE BEST for my seborrheic dermatitis on my scalp! I also add the tiniest amount of apple cider vinegar for my scalp eczema. The version I have has many other herbs in it like neem leafs, henna powder, fenugreek powder etc. but it's definitely something I would recommend to anyone, even if they don't wanna use it as a shampoo, because its also an AMAZING rinse for soothing the scalp! (planning to mix some homemade oatmilk in it next time as that also help my scalp soothe a lot and adds some hydration~)

Mercy Shanthi: I’m a South Indian.very happy to see our very traditional cleaning natural ingredients being used by you..I still use them for cleaning my hair..Normally all the ingredients are sun dried and powdered..whenever I wash,I make a paste of it with water and wash it..no need for conditioning. The ingredients for making the powder are shikakai,Dried amla,Fenugreek, green gram .reetha, few dried hibiscus flowers, dried henna leaves, dried rose petals, some dried neem leaves and dried lemon ,orange peels.(a few more thing)..we make it once a year(has to be taken to a grinding mill) and store it.

Richa Shruti: I'm an Indian... and seeing this video felt so homely ❤ Best wishes
