Hello friends welcome back to my channel. If you are new, my name is carrie jessica. We talk a lot of gray, hair, wavy, hair care, hair care in general. That sounds like it is up your alley hit that subscribe button and hang out with us. I am one year die free. I have not colored my hair in a year, so i figured what better way to celebrate, having not colored my hair for a year than to use a color, depositing conditioner. If you are going gray, you know you end up with a cool tone at the top and then like your older dyed hair tends to have like the warmth to really bleed through and if you're a brunette. It turns kind of brassy and orange um. If you're blonde tends to take on a lot of yellow, so i decided to use overtone to try to blend my demarcation line a little more and get a cooler overall tone to my hair. Did it work, i have to say, i'm pretty happy with the results, but i did have to go off of the beaten path. We did not follow directions to the t. If you want to know how we did this, how we did this me and the mouse in my pocket, if you wan na, know how i did this keep watching. So i have vibrant silver as well as pastel silver, so we're going to do a patch test on each side. I'M going to try to do this like the right way, the way that a person should and not just slather it all over my head without really like following directions: we're not really looking at changing. Necessarily the color of this dyed hair we're looking at altering the tone of it when you have dyed brunette hair most of the time, those have warm undertones, and that starts to bleed through. Obviously, when you're going gray, it's a cooler tone, so we're looking at just kind of softening this demarcation line and toning up this dyed part. So we will see how well it works, so we are going to section off a small piece of hair on each side. We are going to put the depositing conditioner on and leave it for about 5 to 15 minutes before rinsing it out and then waiting for it to dry to see the results a little about the company. They are cruelty, free and vegan um. I will say, though, if you are very strictly following the curly girl method, the silicone that they use is automethacone um, it's not water soluble, so it's not just going to rinse out with water. It actually does require a cleansing agent to remove it and the reason why some people would avoid silicones in their hair care products is, it can cause up. It can actually coat the hair. I have weighed the pros and cons of using a product with this particular silicone in it, and i have decided for me i'm good. Let'S do it, you go pastel, left and vibrant right. These are my left and right. This one is the vibrant silver. It is very purple looking not gon na lie. It took everyone in my house to try to open the pastel silver one. Also purple not much difference in the way they look. This one is a little darker. The vibrant is a little bit darker okay, so i threw the top section of my hair up in just a messy bun that way the test strips that i'm doing are kind of like like more hidden just in case. One of them doesn't come out in a normal fashion. Okay, so i've got this little clip and i'm just gon na clip off a piece of hair. It'S a really good look and i'm actually going to go up higher than my demarcation line. Just because i'm not going to be able to get this right on the line, i thought it was going to be very like dry and chalky. I don't really know why i thought that, but i did and i'm just gon na kind of twist and roll it up and clip it away from the rest of my hair okay, so i just kind of rolled it up and now same thing on this side. I'M going to section off a piece of hair all right, and now i'm going to go in with the vibrant silver okay. So now we wait for 15 minutes. Hey siri set a timer for 15 minutes. Your timer is set for 15 minutes, so it has been 15 minutes. I rinsed it out. I will say that this hairstyle, though it is progressively getting better and better. So i am going to diffuse this for a little bit to try to get it to dry. A little bit faster so that, like i, can move along with this day, so these pieces are dry um, i have to say i don't see a huge difference. What do you think? I don't know? I think it's pretty similar. Of course, my hair is all stuck in this, so since both were very very similar - and i left them on for 15 minutes, which is the longest that the directions say. I am going to go in with this vibrant only because i reached out and touched it first, i'm going to go with the vibrant silver, i'm going to leave it on for 30 minutes instead of 15 and i'm going to start at the top and work. My way down, so the top is going to have been it will be on for even longer than that. I don't know why. I thought that was going to like fly up at me, but i did all right and i am going to section off my hair. I'M gon na wash my hands yeah at this point. I'M pretty much just making a plaster paste. It'S fine, everything's great! I'M gon na go wash my hands. Okay, it mostly came off of my hands. I do have a little bit of a purple tint um. Under my nails, but for the most part it came off of my hands. I put this on, not because it's required or because it's messy at all, i just kind of figured any little extra heat would help the conditioning aspect of it and hopefully some color retention. Hey siri set a timer for 30 minutes, okay, 30 minutes and count. I can't set a timer here how about a reminder? Instead, legit, i have apple devices going off everywhere. It'S also going to be on my head for play about 40 minutes because i forgot to set a timer when i took off to go wash my hands also. I have shoulder length, fine hair, but i have a lot of hair um. It is cut into a wavy shag, so there are layers and i used about half of this container. I was heavy-handed with it. I was a little concerned about when i did the strand test it not really showing up super well, so i went in with more product and for a longer amount of time to see if that makes a difference. So, okay, my friends, we went from this to this. I definitely feel like the demarcation line is still visible, but this is definitely toned down in the sense that this is a cooler tone than what it was before. There was a lot of red like an auburn showing through before which it this is actually darker, but it is a ashy brunette. My bangs are driving me insane. I have been using a new haircare line, not new, as in a brand new company. New is a new to me if you guys are interested in more about that line, because i've been able to get a lot of volume and definition and just really consistent results. So let me know in the comments, if you are interested in what hair care brand i've been using for my styling products as always. Thank you so much for hanging out with me. I very much appreciate you hit that subscribe. Button hang out with me. Some more hit that bell, so you get notified. When i create new content, you can find me in other places on the internet. You can find me on instagram, i'm over on facebook and i'm on tick tock until it gets banned or bought or sold or, however, that works. Give this video a like. Please feel free to leave. A comment, let me know have you tried overtone. Is that something on your list of things you want to try, that's it until next week. I will see you, then i don't know. I think this might be distracting. Do we do a patch test? Do we do this like the way it should be done? I need you to open something for me, like i legit can't get this open. What this tub

cami's crazyyy: YAYYY CONGRATS FOR BEING 1 YEAR DYE FREE! This is such a genius idea to blend the colors together!!!

Kuvasz 93: Hi Carrie- I just wanted to say thank you so much for introducing me to Overtone. I am in my fifth month transition ( about 3 1/2 inches of white roots) and I have gotten nothing but compliments on my hair. My white hair is a vibrant silver and I find that the product tones down the brassiness of the old brown color. I also find that my hair feels healthier. This product has been a game changer for me during my transition period. Thanks again!!

Wearmath: Hey Carrie-Jessica....love your videos as they inspire me to keep going with "the transition". I'm 5 months into the grey/ silver grow-out and have a curl patten very similar to yours. I'm always on the lookout for new products to tame the frizz and define the curls. Would love to know the new (for you) products you made reference to in this video. Thanks

bonnybute1: wow your hair looks beautiful, those curls are lush, but the colour you achieved with this is fantastic

Julia Austin: Thanks for taking the plunge! I too have warm reddish brown colour growing out of my otherwise gray hair and I really like the more cooler tone of your brown--fits much better with the gray. Interesting that it also darkened your whitish grays on top as well--i didn't think it would do that. i think I'll pick me up some... :-)

Ibelieveinangels yesido: Can I just say I *love* your cut & curl pattern?!? It's absolutely awesome & your personal ombre look is stunning. Can't wait to hear about your new-to-you products. Blessings! Jackie in upstate NY

GG 107: Revlon blue shampoo works well to cool brown tones. I'm about 50/ 50, natural brown(not dyed) w silver. The brown seemed very warm and I just didn't like the contrast with the cooler Gray. Works much better than the purple shampoos for me.

Dee Silver: I’m definitely not gray yet, but it’s starting. I haven’t dyed my hair in over six years and I’m starting my curly hair journey. I’m definitely going to do this, because I’m not dying my hair when I start turning gray. Love this. Thank you.

Solitude: I used fanola purple shampoo, just put it all over on dry hair, left it for ages lol then washed it out. Toned the dark brown fading dye part and slightly darkened the root so worked pretty well. I’ve grown all the dye out now and just use purple shampoo now and again, my hair is a steel grey.

Chickadee Acres: It looks awesome, kind of ombré which is adorable. Wish I had your curls. My grey isn’t coming in fast enough for me at 65 and I’m chomping at the bit to go grey ever since I saw the silvery tone my mom had at 90.

pafcaf: Love your curls! The transition will pass before you know it.

Nancy Cook: I can see a big difference with the Overtone. My coloring, incoming gray, and auburn died hair is very similar to yours and I have been thinking of trying Overtone, so thank you for the tutorial. I’m wondering how long it will last on you. It was be great if you could do a follow up on this. I’m 7 months into my gray transition and I’m all in!

Carol Prechotko: Love the results. Have been considering using Overtone & I appreciate the honesty of your video. I am 3 months into transitioning to grey. There have been some very large doubts. But taking it a day at a time. My sister and my daughter-in-law’s mon are transitioning as well. It does help to have a little support group. My husband is 100% supportive. In fact, it was his idea. And yes ... what are you using ?

Anna Burns: Carrie Jessica, the overtone on your hair looks amazing! It makes a huge difference. It did not work very well for me.(I used pastel lavender) Even though my color growing out is warm blonde, it is more orange than yellow. The color growing in is cool silvery blonde, so the contrast is hideous. I would love to hear about your new hair products that you are using. I noticed that your curls and volume looked great. Thanks for your demo.

uejin lee: Thank you for the info! I will definitely try the product you showed! By the way, you look great with the results ! And I love your hairstyle!

O Luz: Very beautiful healthy hair! Love the tone Blessings

Rene Pena: Looks great! I wish I would have discovered this during my grow out. I’m 20 months in and should have all the dye cut off at my next appointment in 2 weeks.

Pretty Pink Flowers: Wow, your hair looks great! I went cold turkey .. 2 years and thunderbirds were GO. It's so liberately and empowering.

Chamaine Ivany: Your videos are very helpful to see someone else go through the same transition. My Grey at the moment is more of a salt and pepper kind of look. I'm having trouble with extra frizz at the roots and would love to know what products you are using. I also live in Canada so that may make it harder to get products.

EDM ORCHID: I'm amazed that my hair color, tone, length is almost identical to yours. So happy to have found you. Your hair looks amazing and I am definitely going to do this when my hair is a tiny bit longer. the gray is only about three months out and it's a little more salt and pepper than yours so I think I can wait a little longer. I'll definitely use this method to blend.

spirals 73: I might need this eventually. I don't plan on chopping once my grey really comes in. I have 3 feet of hair so I am going to have to figure out how to blend 3 or 4 inches of gray with the rest. By the time I have that, my hair may be to my thighs. (I figure it'll take a couple of years.) The other thing I thought about was silver highlights in the length. I'm not sure what I'll do but my born-with color is definitely warm with a lot of red and gold in it, where my grays are very cool and light silver. I have thick hair that is 1/3 coarse and 1/3 fine. But my curl pattern and color are very similar to yours. Hair twins!

Carol Fudali: Looks beautiful! I actually liked the original two toned colour though too. Yes, please tell us what new CG products you’ve been using.

Shari L: Tried overtone in silver vibrant. Like you, it did take out some of the reddish tones. I am 16 months dye free! Would love to know what products you are using.

Scarlett Sierra: IT LOOKS SO GOOD!!

Shar Roon: I have been growing out my hair for about 8 months and I have concluded that 1/2 an inch of hair growth per month is a lot and my hair grows quite a bit slower.

Lucy Houseal: I love it! I would love to check out this product! I will look at the website!

Lflo: Looks great!

River Rock: Wow, great results. The hair look cooling and your hair look cool and rich. My hairdresser put a silver Wella toner on my blonde highlights to try to match my natural gray salt and pepper gray. The toner is level 7. The color was great but after three washes, the tone is green ash. Do you think the Overtone will cover the ash?

creature57: I wonder how this would go if you had natural red hair? I'm fighting my greys back by dying and I'm concerned as to how the red will blend with the grey - it looks more silver than grey to be honest. I'm looking around to use an overtone to blend it more from the time I start to grow it out. I haven't embraced this yet.

Diana Smith: How long does the treatment last? How often do you wash your hair?

Tina Maree: You need to highlight the brown hair and then use the overtone. That is what I did and now I use overtone daily conditioner every other day and the deep color conditioner every 2-3 weeks and now my roots are growing out and blending with the highlighted hair that I used the overtone pastel silver on. You have to bleach the brown out for the overtone to work, unless you just want the brown to stay. I love overtone and when my silver gets a little too blue, I mix the pastel orange in the the pastel silver and it takes the blue out and it is more silver. Great product.

Suzanne Gall: Hello loved the video as i am in this ki d of transition. Your curls are beautiful and I would really like to know more about the products you are using for them. Thank you in advance

Kala Bell: It's like the opposite of a shadow root very beautiful

Denise Pineda: It did look like it helped. I go to my hairdresser every 5 weeks and she puts a toner on my hair and every 10 weeks I get a trim. I am 6 months in and am brunette so my hair does turn reddish if I don’t get it toned. I don’t know that there is a really great solution except to just tough it out.

Taryn Miller: Have you considered using a peroxide free color remover like the ion one on your ends? It may help get your ends a teeny bit lighter and then you can easily tone them with another color depositing conditioner or shampoo to achieve a nice ashy tone

Dava James: The cool color of silver looks good on you/ compliments your complexion.

J Flo: Wow. Your hair turned out great!

Tonya Redden: I will be trying Overtone for the first time soo...I'm excited... I am interested in your hair care line... I have a product obsession... especially for curly/wavy hair!

Barbara Zapatka: I Watch the video where you applied over tone and love what you did with your hair. I would like to try overtone and I’m interested in the products that you are using.

Michael: I’ve tried everything and the orange blonde brown ends still look horrible. But I have the added problem of my hair being severely damaged because of bleach. I’m almost one year in and I just chopped my hair off in a bob. Hopefully in another year or a year and a half I will be done with this. In the meantime, I occasionally wear a wig when I need to look put together (just wore one to an interview last month)

LOONBIT: direct dyes like overtone can be left on for as long as you would like to, 15 or even 30 minutes is very short for direct dyes

Dandylion: I use overtone to blend my gray and brown. I use extreme silver and leave it on for an hour, at least. I think the lighter silver options used were just too light to blend the demarcation line.

Jeannine Osorio: I have a fairly straight pixie. Slowly trying to completely go for the silver..highlighted look. I've used several different purple shampoos but it has given me a blue/lavender tone. Please let me know if there's a better way to achieve my desired hairstyle. I have brown/red natural hair color. Thank you!

brenda galluzzo: Thank you, Thank You, this is the answer i have been looking for. Well done video and will be doing this method.

Hopefaith& love: 2 months in transition to grey I love it ill never go back this is me.

CS Richardson: You have gorgeous hair .. in any color!

Marty Fawkes Crooks: Your gray hair is gorgeous!

Suzanne Newman: I recommend you mix extreme purple for brown hair with extreme silver on the brown hair,

by aravil.: Hi this is currently the look of my hair right now and im just 18 yrs old and I'm transitioning already as early because I have a dermatitis and i cant keep on retouching my roots...IM JUST SO HAPPY SEEING A HAIR ALMOST SAME AS MINE PLUS IM ALSO CURLY HEHE IM NEAR 1 YEAR OF MY TRANSITIONING. <3

Patty Trip Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate: I need to try this! Awesome. Thanks!

Wendy Jackson: I would like to know the products that you are having success with. Your video gives me hope with my gray hair transition. After the total gray transition would using the gray Overtone product help the hair to be healthy?

CAROLINA COLEMAN: Love your hair. I’m transitioning to salt and pepper grey hair. Do you think it will work on highlighted hair?

Justice🎋Jannie: You taught me how to hair dry with a diffuser and to find a test strip in my hair that's hidden.... thank you my suggestion try gloves. Lol

Andrea Clifton: I would love to know which products you are using. I have been trying the CGM since May and still haven't found what works for me. I am also transitioning to my natural color, I haven't colored since March and no highlights since July.

Aylin Simsek: Love your curls

Jill Sette: Beautiful

Olga Bolivar Rodas: Hi. Thanks for this video! I really need to turn down the brass tone I ended up with after trying to remove my old dark brown hair color...

Lisa S: Would love info on products He similar hair! Just starting graying journey at 67

Carol Schlick: Looove your hair!! I’ve been attempting the curly girl method for YEARS.....I’ve got major gray growth. Helllppppp pleeeeeeease

carmagurl317: Wow your hair is so thick and shiny. Gorgeous.

Moondance: Your hair is Beautiful !!

Deborah Drake: I do the same but use ION brights (purple) mixed in any white conditioner. It lasts several washes and doesn't leave any tint of color. I am thinking of using yellow for summer to see if it makes my hair just look highlighted. I don't want anything that will leave a lasting deposit on my hair

cee gee: Looks great!

Estella Serrano: Hello, I was wondering what type of hair dryer are you using and what type of conditioner did you use to get your hair so beautiful without any frizz, my hair is just like yours but I always end up with frizzy hair. I'm 8 months without dyeing my hair and very excited about going silver, Thank you for sharing your video.

Crystal Kelly: Love your hair!

RN Penelope: Your hair is gorgeous!! What product are you using?

D Smith: I would love to know your hair care products! Your hair is beautiful, I love the curls!

Elisha Esteves: That looks awesome

Genevieve Long: Looks pretty. My hair is blonde and grey and when it is clean there is no definite line but when I go a couple days it looks like a dirty grey and light yellow. If I can get mine to look as fresh and shiney as your after look i will be very happy. Where did you get your hair dryer? Please let me know. Thanks and enjoy your beautiful new look.

Tami Krough: Just started my journey to white/gray...this gives me hope.

Maria Welling: I love the shine it pop's!!

LYNDA R: Funny I came across this now. I am highlight-free as of 9/9/20. I have more subtle demarcation. I did NO patch test. Ha ha. I didn't put anything on the top of my head where there is salt/pepper-pepper/salt. I just put the vibrant silver on the area from demarcation down and left it on 15 min. It definitely helped. I decided to then try the extreme silver using the same process a week later, and it covered more/toned more of the blondish/orange color, and it somehow even matches the top of my hair where I never put anything on. Go figure. I think if you try vibrant silver, you may see more results. Great job on the video.

Doreen G: Wow!!!! Your hair is GORGEOUS!!!!

Lee Lu: I think that you should try their purple ones instead for toning.

Rachael C: With your bone structure you could rock a pixie too

Luzviminda Reeve: You're beautiful, hair is gorgeous!

Cathy Burczyk: Lovely curls what products do you use? Ty

JenLMeyers: I would like to know what products you use for curly hair. Your hair is beautiful.

Lisa Arce: What hair dryer and diffuser are you using and where can I get it? Thank you

T Whitman: How long did it last?

Cathy Baker: Covid19 pushed me to just go gray. Loving it for the most part but what hair care products are you using?

Susan Kennedy: Conditioner pigments work best on post shampooed hair

Victoria: Hello! YES! I would LOVE to know the shampoo and conditioner you use. My hair is naturally curly. FUn video! You are fun! Thank you!

Adriana Susunaga: I love your hair. Yes please I would love to know about the hair product you’re using

George Trotti: beautiful, what hair dryer are you using - I need to find one like that.

Barb Sebo: Ur hair looks beautiful

LindyLooo99: Can't decide if I like THIS haircut or the PIXIE.... My hair is getting the grow out, after highlighting it... UGH.... so I have 4 inches of salt and pepper and 10 inches of YELLOWISH highlights... so I did the overtone and it really cools the whole thing down!

Kathy Jenkins: How long does the color last?

MOMMANEIN: That dryer what is it? Must have

Amanda Brady: Omgosh ❤️❤️❤️ this video I’m new to your channel (not to your IG though ) Definitely will be watching more!!! 2 things YES!! YES & YES before you said about products I was hoping you’d say what you used ❤️❤️❤️ 2nd I LOVE that little lamp in the background! Where did you get it? Thanks for making me laugh as always

Rooted in Joy: Wow...I’m Carrie too! I’m a year and a half plus and I’m needing some slumping!!! Thx

Cathy Burczyk: I would love to know your products you use!! Thank u!♥️♥️

Sa La: I am watching this because I died my hair with henna, then to create Transition with some blonde Highlights but they are super displaced and too light and are making the Look even messier. The funny Thing is: my Hair isnt Grey, IT has Always Been this ashy DARK blonde, but Not a Lot of color in it so it seems super Grey especially with the red lenghts of my Hair. So i will try this to grow Out my Natural hair. Thank you! It Looks awesome!

mmariona70: Curious why you just use cool color toner to get rid of the warm dyed hair portion of your hair.

Stacey Vaas: I like it! Hope I win

Sheba Welch: Can you tell me the name and where I can purchase the jar of product you used all over with a cap? Thank you!

B G: Please review your new curly hair products!

S G: You need blue/green pigment to cancel out red/yellow tone in your hair. It’s a color wheel, hairdresser thing

L C: Did it do anything to the grey?

Gladis Johnson: Where can I purchase the overtone pastel silver coloring conditioner product?
