Hey you guys welcome back to my channel if you're new here welcome, I make BOM natural hair videos, and today I'd like to tackle one of the questions that I get all the time. How often should I moisturize my hair? Well, the answer is, it depends. I can't really answer because I don't know the state of your hair, your porosity level, your wash day routine, what your hair likes or doesn't like, but what I can do is show you how often I moisturize my hair when I'm on my best behavior aka right Now so I'm going to walk you through what I do to my hair over the course of a week, quarantine style. We aren't actually starting from clean hair, we're actually starting from a week old hair. That'S been moisturizing the shower. This is my attempt of trying to infuse some moisture into my hair without actually going through the whole wash day routine. I know you have those days if you are starting from wash day. I will make a few videos in the cards as well as in the description box. Before you a feeling pleasure, I will also link a video on how I achieve this style, so if you're interested in those then check the description box, so my hair is freshly styles, she's still moisturized, and you know what I'm just going to stuff her into a Bonnet, I know I know she can't handle it. She'S been moisturized thoroughly from me doing this style, so I'm not worried at all matter of fact, I'm going to leave her in the bonnet for a few days. I know what you thinking you're lucky judging me, but let me tell you something: sometimes. I think that we do a little too much what out here. So why did I leave my hair in the bonnet for two days? One I feel like it's going to give my hair a little break, especially since I styled it too. It takes about two days before my hair starts to dry out. So I know it's like a sweet spot for me before. I need to think about remoisturize andreen because I'm a lazy natural. I don't actually like to be in my hair every single day, even though we have the time right now, so I'm all made up because today's Haitian flag day and I wanted to take pictures for the ground check out my Instagram, if you wouldn't see them. So this is day three hair and I knew guys saw I didn't do anything to my hair, I'm just stuffing in the bonnet. Hey is a good day where I would want to moisturize. My hair does feel a little bit drier than usual and I think it's because I only use a styler to send my hair. Are they able to use a leave-in conditioner or anything like that when I am going to moisturize my hair, which I'm not gon na? Do everybody I'm gon na do it tonight? What I'm gon na show is my hair. I'M gon na come back and show you guys. I, like even you guys up close shots of my hair. A lot of people feel that their hair is dry, although it's not really dry. If you're moisturizing here today and it's dry to the touch right tomorrow, it doesn't really mean that your hair's dry, you sort of have to analyze your hair before seeing that it's dry like right now, I can't tell that my hair is a little bit drier than Usual, but it's not entirely dry and feeling drier than usual. It'S because I didn't start out with my hair fully moisturized. So if I start out with my hair halfway wash your eyes, then it's gon na get dry you're faster. If that makes sense, I don't know now, you can still see the sheen that I'm getting from the product. My hair is not shiny. You guys know how for see here is snut shiny for say, but I'm getting some sheen from the products. That'S still in there. The oils I'm really digging this hairstyle by the way I really like it I like, what's going on with it, I like criss-crossing the top, and just really you know what I mean adds a little British illusionistic co-op. I like this bun on top I'm just feeling myself today: okay, so I'm going to go in the shower and press a reset button, I'm not going to wash just yet, but I am going to remorse rice in the shower. I actually like to moisturize my hair in the shower and there's a couple of reasons for that. Water is the ultimate moisturizers for me to say I've moisturized, my hair. I need to use water. Of course, I can use a water bottle, but I like to kill two birds with one: don't and just do it in the shower I like to steam my hair in the shower, because I really feel like the steam from the shower really helped. My hair absorb the water better. So if you watched my last video, my hair is technically high porosity, so I shouldn't need to use heat to moisturize it, but I'm a rebel, and I don't like to follow the rules and I don't follow the porosity thing: 100 %. I like to do what my hair loves and she loves to be moisturizing in the shower. Okay, alright. So after I come out of the shower, and my hair typically feels very nice and moisturize, I know my job is not done. I need to seal in that moisture, so I'm going in with a leave-in, conditioner and a butter. This is the ultimate way for me to moisturize my hair. If, in for my hair to stay moisturize, I could use a spray bottle, I could use an oil. I could use my little spray bottle mix for my hair to stay moisturized. I need to use a living conditioner and a butter. The butter really helps seal my cuticles and keep my hair moisturize longer. A few notes when I come out of the shower. My hair is not dripping wet. I'M taking this opportunity to reset my hair, so put it back into the flat twist so that when I take it out, my style is defined and I'm also not detangling. My hair. I also think that's a lot of stress to put on your strands when it's not needed. Personally, I don't detangle until I need to detangle okay and that's only on the wash days, all right so we're on day 5 and, of course, I'm starting by moisturizing. My hair in the shower, I don't need to show you again. You know exactly what I do by now and really I'm just gon na go in with my little spray bottle mix. So what is in this spray bottle mix. I'Ve already shared it, but I know y'all, don't watch all my videos, so I'm gon na share with you again, so it's water, leave-in, conditioner and an oil. I basically mix everything together so that it's easy for me to just go in and moisturize my hair on these days. When I just want to quickly do it. I like to find ways, that's extremely easy for me to moisturize my hair, because the more complicated it is, the less I'm gon na. Do it so with something like this. I can moisturize my hair or spritz it honestly every day, but I don't do it everyday, but you know what I mean all right, so right now we're on day seven we're getting closer to wash day again. I moisturize my hair in the shower honestly, I'm just gon na go in with an oil at this point just because I am going to actually wash my hair and remoisturize and deep conditioned and go through my full wash day routine. It'S not already made to go and moisturize as heavily so I'm just gon na go in with an oil and quick tip. I actually keep a bottle of oil in my shower for those days where I'm feeling a little lazy, and at least I will moisturize in the shower and quickly use the oil while I'm still in the shower and still that moisture in it is a lighter way For me to moisturize my hair with just an oil, it doesn't keep it moisturize for long, but if I am closer to my wash day, then I can get away with it. Alright, so now we're on our last day. This is day 8 technically today should have been wash day, but I am filming. So I wanted to take my hair out, and maybe I don't look a little cute cute. As you can see, my hair is still quite defined because it's been in the flat twist for a few days and it's moisturized because I've been moisturizing it. So I'm just gon na go ahead and style it and call it a day. Really. My hair still looks pretty good, although at that point it's time to wash it's time to do conditioned it's time to reverse your eyes in sealed, but wait Jen. You use three different methods to moisturize your hair. What is going on? Well girl, I'm so glad you asked, so I might raise my hair based on how it feels a living conditioner, where the butter is definitely more moisturizing for me than the leave in conditioner mix that I do verses in oil. So, as time goes by, I go lighter in moisturizing, because I'm getting closer to wash day, which means I don't need to go as heavy on the moisturizing routine as I'll be pressing. The reset button very shortly and 30 remorse rise my hair again on my next wash day. So this video is technically showing you a few ways that you can moisturize your hair. You got ta find what works for you. You can't just copy what everybody else does, but these are really good methods to moisturize dry natural hair. Now this video showing me on my best best behavior, especially right now that we're in quarantine at home, you might as well take care of your hair. You might as well moisturize some weeks I don't moisturize at all. I have to be honest, but on average I like to do this at least every three days. So, every three days my hair will get moisturized and if I am going to skip wash day - let's be honest, it happens to the best of us that I'm going to keep moisture izing until I get to wash day. Thank you so much for watching. If you made it this far, I appreciate you hit the subscribe button hit the bell, so you get notified every single time. I upload a new video and I'll see you in my next one bye,

Lifestyle by Ebony: Finally someone with real 4c hair texture and it looks healthy and beautiful.

The Maliha Ariel: Everyday for tailbone length Everyday. Keep it protected. Style it or throw a wig on. Moisturize everyday It’s a plant and needs food everyday

PinkIvy4U: I moisturize my 4c hair 2-3 times per week depending on how my hair feels.

Tish Harris: I’m finally getting the melanin leave in conditioner and I’m so excited. your hair responds very well to it. Cute hairstyle also!

Antslove: I have 4c hair also just like yours!! I appreciate ALL the information you provide. I now know how to care for my hair to keep it moisturizer which in turn will keep my hair healthy. You will hit that 80k! Thanks again.

Kaka Nwanekezie: Fabulous! I've been doing the shower thingy and my hair always feels refreshed. I'm learning to moisturize properly and I'm loving every step and strength I use in taking care of my natural hair. Thank you JennJ for this video

Light Yantar: I was just looking for this type of video because I've recently just been wearing my 4c hair out and in protective styles. Thank you for this video!

Solange Sanders: Jen. You have saved my hair. I’m a lazy natural too. But your routines have completely changed my dry brittle hair! Thanks love.

Con Hun: Now you make me want to go and moisturize my hair. Thanks Jenn!!

Tara Shell: Hi! I love love love your content ! I have short -low porosity- 4c hair and i've tried the leave in and shea butter combination for a twist out. The take down was beautiful and my hair felt moisturized. But throughout the rest of the day, my hair became extremely dry. I have always struggled with retaining length and moisture ever since I went natural back in 2016 . Is there anything I can add into this regimen with shea butter for more moisture?. (my twist comes out smoother and more defined with shea butter) Or is there anything I can do in the morning i take out my twist?

Michelle's Daughter: I literally just moisturized my hair! Like 5 minutes ago. I used aloe Vera juice, TGIN butter cream and my oil mixture.

Iffy: I thought I was crazy. I re-moisturize 3 times a week.

AshleeLoveit: Love this video! I want to grow my colored 4C hair. I did a lot to do. I bleached it like every year for the past 3-4 years. I love to color it! So this is as good!

Lynda Jay: Your hair looks so healthy Jenn literally love your hair in all stages!

shaniceburrows: This actually answered so many of my questions with regard to moisturizing! Thanks

Imari Folami: This is what I call good hair!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Chisomo Gomonda: I love that you are high porosity. I have high porosity hair too, though my strands are fine. However, the best moisturizing technique I’ve used in the past was using a leave in conditioner and butter (mango and Shea butter mixture). I think your porosity explains why we can use the same method even though I have finer strands. You convinced me to start using the LB method again (I stopped for a while because my mango and Shea butter mix finished and the leave conditioner I used to use no longer works). I’ll try using the other methods too. Thank you so much!!

Terrific Tarsha: Your natural hairstyles are the best! My hair is 4c and I am always looking for new/easy/manageable styles. You are the answer to all of my questions, lol!

bubbles88sudss: I don’t have 4c hair (3c/4a, med. porosity), but I’ve been subscribed since I did the big chop in 2013. I absolutely love your content and the information you provide! Your voice and shower shots are also very calming! Thank you for posting and being a real one in the natural hair community ❤️

Charlotte Roberts: I'm learning moisturizing is the key and keeping the ends sealed. During this period, I am learning a lot of growing my hair back from the loss of a beautician damaging my hair years ago. Very informative and great tips!

Tasha G: I love your hair. Mine is lo-po so it can hold moisture well if I do it right. I use LCO method and probably remoisturize 1-2 times a week

KC: Just moisturize my mini twists today while in the shower with water and when I was done getting dressed added leave-in and shea butter while it was still damp.

Lilian Okibe: I let my hair tell me when to moisturise. I only moisturise when my hair feels kinda dry and I have to seal in the moisture with a butter else it'll be dry the next minute. Love the video. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Nubi: Hi Jenn honestly when I twist my hair I never untwist it to moisturize it. It’s time consuming!! Do you think if you moisturize with your hair twisted it works?

NthabiLu: Even though I'm in lockdown & working from home the past 2 months, I just realized that I don't need to moisturize daily..every other day to every 2 days works for my high porosity hair. personally

CC H: Love that style...the after the 2 day bonnet. I will try the remoisturize in the shower. Great tips!!

Natashya Mitchell-Hendrix: I'd say it depends on the products used that was day. For example, I used the whole Miche Beauty line on Sunday and i just moisturized my hair today (Thursday). This should get me to wash day. I used Alikay Naturals a few weeks back and I had to moisturize 3 times that week.

Michelle Elizabeth: Since I started moisturizing my 4b hair every other night it's so much softer, I'm seeing curls I never knew I had Prior to this I only moisturized once or twice weekly or when it felt dry

Solmom03: Learning so much! My son is growing his hair out before locing. He his 4c. Our hair is different so it’s been process since mostly anything works for me but not at all for him.

Oneisha Eugene: 1. You are super beautiful 2. Your video is amazing 3. Thank you for keeping it real❤️

LaToya Ebony: 3:16 I’m feeling this look!! Great video sis!! I can definitely relate to that bonnet life My bonnet is my best friend LOL!

mswtaz94: I shampoo and deep condition twice a week and rarely need to moisturize in between. Rewetting my hair without shampooing makes it dry and rough no matter what I seal it with. When I worked, I remoisturized nightly to restyle. My hair is soft and fine and won’t hold a style no matter what.

FaithPeach: Your hair is so thick & pretty! I love the style too, you gave me some summer-style ideas. ❤️

Kia Harris: Girl you be slayin' your hairstyles. Love it!

Mrsdevsgirl: Your hair had grown so much since the big chop. I luv the makeup. Thanks for sharing your moisturizing tips

Black Girl Joy: Ayyye a Haitian sister ❤️ but I need to start moisturizing my 4c hair this much

Gayle Friend: Has anyone ever told you that you favor Ayesha Curry? Your routine is what I'd do if I wasn't so lazy. I discovered last summer that I love re-moisturizing my hair in the shower. It is so much more effective.

Belinda Okello: I'm a lazy natural too...I moisturize once a week and sometimes go for 2 weeks before re-moisturizing again and it's fine. Low porosity though

Crystal Grose: I have to moisture EVERY day. I have VERY DRY “ High Porosity”. I also have to wash EVERY week, otherwise my hair will be so dirty, itchy, and full of dandruff.

Tehilavictoria: I just realised i' m a lazy natural too. Always in protective style(not any extantions specially) just my own hair

SHE McG: Love the styles! ☺️

marian B: I rinsed my hair with water and used SM jbco leave in conditioner, and the product did not much of anything. I miss my TGIN moisturizer, but I don't want to use it anymore due to the formaldehyde that is in it. I may go out and get my Giovanni leave in. I also bought As I Am smoothie, so I will try that next time. Sometimes I just use plain grease and water when all else fails. These products sit on top of my hair, and cause build up...so I have to rinse it anyway. I used an acv rinse and that SM product did not penetrate my damp hair. What a waste of money...Maybe instead of throwing it out, I will mix the conditioner with water and an oil. Great video and cute hairstyle. I can't flat twist to save my life, lol! I will keep trying.

enaruvie: I needed all this time bro when I was a loose natural. How did I miss this? I’ve followed you for years

Shena52: Love the hairstyle it fits your face and it's versatile. Styling and Profiling ‍♀️❣

MRS. W.O.: Great routine. Thank you for sharing.

miniminott48: Your hair is so healthy and beautiful. True hair goals.

Eursla Bryant: Yoooo those glasses are everything!! - On top of you and your hair; love the hair style as well. You are absolutely stunning and repping the 4c gals well. Thank You!!!

Jéssica Ribeiro: I do everyday or every other day lol My hair eats everything

Lavishly Savage: I’m subscribing because you’re the first natural I have seen with hair just like mine.

Kimberly S.: just found your channel a few days ago and we literally have the same hair ! i stan a fellow haitian

Temi Igbaroola: Do you have to moisturize more often if you have shorter hair? And does over-sealing cause clogged pores?

Alicia Miller: If your hair gets dry that quick between washing, you should try a shower filter. It’s been a game changer for me since I moved to NC. My hair used to feel dry the next day after washing it and I didn’t understand why until I thought about the only difference between where I was and where I am now, and it was the water.

Tiffani W: My hair is currently in box braids. I feel like I know when my hair is moisturized but it drys out sooo fast so I moisture almost everyday

Neon Baby: I have extremely low porosity and not particularly thick or thin hair and I have a lot less shedding and way happier hair when I moisturize everyday

psr076: The consistency, yes

Williams J: Great video, all the way. Enjoyed your hairstyles..

nomza licious: So glad l found you! WOW! You have rejuvenated me...like TOTALLY . Thank you girl #newsubbie

rjmami8508: Your hairstyles flatter you so well

AnaBelle: I feel like I have to moisturise my hair every day, she's _SO_ *_DRYYYYYY_*

Mutsa Mutsa: You are beautiful and your hair is gorgeous,I have manipulate my hair and don't know what to do to stop the habit,I admire your hair

indiexbklynxgirl: Can you do a tutorial on how to flat twist?

shinellasfashion: What products do you use to style your hair and what edges control would you recommend.

Tariro Lorraine Chakwakwama: Glad I'm not the only one who moisturises in the shower ✌

mydestiny84: I like in the shower too but I swear I’m allergic to the cold and when winter comes I wash my hair like once all winter. I wanna wash weekly and do the growth challenge like you but I’m scared. Actually maybe I should do mine in summer ‍♀️

mary burugu: Jenn!!!!! How I love your hair

Merit Dike: Girllll my hairdresser detangled my hair pretty rough and I'm disturbed if I should let my scalp breathe or still do my wash day in 10days. I lost alot of hair and my scalp had her day too. What do you think?

Cassidy Joseph: Whenever I leave my hair out in a bonnet, it tangles right up how do you do it

Abena Antwi: Hello I have a question How exactly can I moisturise with my hair in braids( with extensions)

Nikkie P: Can you do a makeup tutorial for the look starting @ 2:18?

Marley Hill: When ever it feels dry! Lol! My hair needs to be moisturised twice daily. I need to wash and deep condition with heat for 30 minutes weekly for hydration. Tomorrow is wash day hallelujah! Lol!

Leona Davis: How do you twist it close to your head without detangling?

I Do(YES): Great video! Can u please discuss your intention with this makeup combo?

Shelly Reynolds: Sheen doesn't determine if your hair is dry. If it feels dry then it is, and you should check what you're using to moisturize it. That's something you'll definitely have to tackle if you ever truly want to gain those inches.

NicNacAttack: Water quality matters a lot. I am looking into getting a shower filter. I use bottled water in spray bottle

Marie Gold: Jenn Jackson is so gorgeous i swear i just love watching her.

Edua Gonzalez: Hey love do your edges stay like that and if so how long ?? I haven’t bothered laying my edges in about 4 years

Stephanie Key: Heeeeey Jen J!! Love ur content, per usual! What happened with the Sephora gig? I definitely hyped you in my write up.

Tash D: Had to click that subscribe button to support my Haitian sister ♥️. Keep em comin'.

caribbeannature: Yo! We need a how to on how you cornrow and flat twist your hair .. help!

mandiscurls: I'm loving your eye makeup

Coralbluenumber7lipstick: Can you do a video on scalp health ?

Master Asia: Gorgeous lady

OneKd: If you just washed your hair , then a couple days after it starts to itch a lil even tho your hands get oily from checking your hair and it’s not dry at all , does that just mean it still needs a lil moisture if so ?

tink mitch: Omg, I love your glasses. Where did you get them?

Serena Reid: Your eyes & (hands) don't lie don't Queen...and that's exactly how it be. Notice the small things. ❤
