Hello, everyone so in this video i'm going to be showing you how i stretch my natural hair without heat. Now there are two major methods with which i use to stretch my hair and number. One is actually twist right here. I usually do twists, which help my hair to be stretched out and also i'm going to be doing braids as well. Braids also help my hair to be quite stretched out. Now you might be wondering what stretching of hair is. So you know how usually, after you have washed your hair, especially if you have tightly packed curls, you notice that your hair shrinks and the shrinkage is actually a good thing. It shows that your hair is healthy. It shows that your hair is resilient. It shows that your hair is elastic which are all excellent characteristics of healthy hair and so a lot of the times. If the hair is left in that shrinkage state, it will eventually lead to breakage. If you leave your hair in that shrinkage state - and you don't do anything to your hair - your hair will dry, especially if it's not moisturized, it is going to dry and eventually it will break, and so in order to prevent your hair from breaking. It is really good idea to wear your hair in stretched style. Curls love themselves, the more they are together in their natural state, the easier it is for them to break, because what happens is that they just mingle with one another. You know they intertwine with one another. The intertwining of the curls will eventually lead to tangles, and tangled hair will eventually lead to breakage. If you can wear your hair in more stretched out styles, that will really help you to prevent breakage and also to retain more length, and so for me, like i said i usually use twists, but also occasionally, i will use braids like this now before you stretch Your hair, it's really important to make sure that your hair is well moisturized. Remember typically, when you wash your hair, your hair will be in that shrunken state, and it's really important that you nourish the hair. At that stage, you know give it the leave in conditioner and the oil and the butters, and really moisturize your hair before you go ahead, and you stretch it out also make sure that your hair is very well detangled in this video. My hair was actually freshly washed, and so i had already detangled while i had conditioner in my hair, and all i did here is that i just moisturized i added my coconut oil and my hair butter, and i went ahead and just braided my hair. I find that doing twists or braids like this, helps to also further seal in that moisture and all of that nourishing that you have given to your hair. So if you just leave your hair just like that after you have moisturized without doing anything versus, if you actually put it in a twist or into a braid, that will actually help your hair to be more sealed and it'll be more protected and it'll actually be Moisturizing, so let me know in the comment section: how do you stretch your natural hair? Do you stretch your natural hair at all? What is your method of stretching out your natural hair? Let me know in the comment section below, of course there are other methods of stretching your hair, some people use heat. I personally don't use heat on my hair. Currently i don't have a blow dryer. I don't use a flat iron or anything, and i think not using heat has really benefited my hair. It has helped me to avoid heat damage and also breakage of my hair, and so heat is not part of my current hair regimen and it hasn't been for very, very long. Some people also like to use african thread ink now when it comes to african threatening. I have used african threading in the past and i would say to limit the use of african people to use it to stretch your hair, then just use it for that, but really limit it. Because what happens is it can actually cause damage, especially if the hair, the style, is very, very tight at the roots at the hairline or at the nape that can lead to breakage of the hair and so just make sure that you are using it in moderation. Thank you so much for watching, and i will talk to you soon, bye for now.

Gladys Nqiwa: I'm definitely here for this natural hair movement going on. I love it

Natural Woman: My hair is almost always in twist or braids. Thanks for a great video Charity. I love your hair. It’s so healthy!!!!

mikochild2: I get blow outs. But when I don't, I part my hair in the middle and put my hair in 2 flat 2 strand twists. I brush my hair every morning and evening to redistribute my natural oils then twist it back down. My hair gets very stretched and stays moisturized this way. The brushing also keeps the oil from building up and making my scalp itchy, something I've dealt with my entire life. Putting products on my scalp just make it worse so I prefer brushing with no products. Note: after a clarifying shampoo it can sometimes take a couple days for my scalp to produce enough oil to reach the ends, but most of the time I have no issue with this. I do not use hair styling products if I can help it and stick to styles that don't require them. If I need my edges to lay, I use water, a little tension, and a scarf. Or I wear a thin headband that day if my edges are being stubborn. Part the hair when brushing to minimize the pull and to make sure every section of hair gets attention. The thicker the hair, the more parts are needed and vice versa. Also it is good to never brush all the way down from root to end. Brush part way down, stop, and then brush the rest of the way down. This alleviates some of the tension so that so less force is applied at the end of the brush stroke.

Esme Mason: Like you, I use no heat on my hair what's so ever After washing my hair, because mine is at its weakest when when damp and transitioning to dry, I moisturise and twist to prevent breakage. Two days later, I moisturise again, plait the roots then twist the remainder of the braid, again, to prevent breakage of the oldest length of hair. I feel this method of care suits my fine textured shoulder length greying hair and has drastically reduced my breakage. Keep up the good work, your hair is beautiful ❤️

That Girl Tee: Thank you for sharing. It's winter here in South Africa and I know I need all the tips on protecting my hair.

Sarpong Emmanuella: I mostly use 6 braids to stretch my hair, take them out after 3 days and divide each section into two to have 12 sections in total. It helps stretch my hair better than twists. I also use heat occasionally, 5_6 times yearly.

Adrienne Whiting: I twist and stretch using scrunches most of the time. For the first time in seven years I used heat and a flat iron. I was so surprised how much my hair grew. It is now mid back.

Rachael Eddy : I love your hair, it’s thick and you really take care of it well, naturally!!! Great job!

ThaPoetess: I used to stretch using twists or braids but hit a plateau. I started using the revair and my hair has finally started to thicken up and grow much better. It’s not much heat and it dries hair straight which helps prevent knots for me.

Jainell_all_day: I love this. I started stretching my hair as it has gotten longer because I noticed wash n go and leaving it curly was causing breakage. I really want length retention too.

curli-lettey: Hair SKRONG!!!! And I'm loving it. I dont use heat but, after washing & conditioning I spray my hair with a moisture mix (rosemary leaves, fenugreek & moringa seeds with aloe juice) comb thru, add some drops of oil on the scalp and my ends. I will detangle and brush hair into a ponytail and 2 strand the hair. For stretch I will place a hair clip at the end of the ponytail for weight, place a scarf on my head (leaving the tail out) and airdry. when the hair is dry, I wind the ponytail into a bun.

Vida Simples Vlogs: Seu cabelo é longo , você cuida muito bem dele , parabéns por nos dar um ótimo assunto para se motivar ❤️ Eu sou Aline do Brasil

Nia Lia: One of the best videos for high shrinkage packed tight curls!

Mrs. Charity Umar Natural Hair Care: Happy Wednesday ladies! Thank you for watching today’s video. ➡️Do you wear your natural hair in stretched styles? If so, what method do you use? Share with us below ⬇️!

Miss Elle / LaniLav: I did threading once in my hair and it was so gorge for 2 days then omg the tangling that followed ... I've never experienced anything like that. Felt like my hair was glued together. Never again.

Tonia Grant: Hi Mrs.charity in my hair care routine I never use hot combs or blow dryers not knowing who do but I’ve been a natural for almost two years on Aug and my hair is thriving and Flourishing like it did when I had my perm it’s down my back now love your vlogs blessed be

Nique Farrington: Hi Sis Happy Wednesday, I would usually braid my hair until it dries. I do blow dry but I do it on cool or warm . Due to sinus issues I cannot keep my hair wet to long unfortunately

Debra Clyburn: I twist the majority of the time. Very sparingly, I use heat. My length is such that I can 'criss cross' and pin my twists in place for a little stretch.

Traiema Escott: I love your hair and how you style it!♥️♥️♥️ I have a question and that is how do you know how much breakage you have if you don’t straighten it? I could be wrong, seriously! If I want a true cut with knowing I have all of the dead ends off I straighten my hair most every 3 months so I can see exactly what needs to come off. I would like to know because if there is a way that I can cut off the dead ends without going too deep into the good ones I’m all for it

Mrs. pesos _xoxo: The thickness is soo real. Thanks for sharing this! Keep up the good work.

SSD: I have 4C hair as well. But I use heat at least every 3 months. It don't break my hair because my hair in already in a healthy state. The heat is applied during my hot oil treatments...especially does justice during through winter time when my hair is dryer due to climate change. I agree with no blow dry, just air dry would be good...but no heat at all...it depends.

Tammy Gant: I have super high shrinkage, tight coils and high density. I've been experimenting with WnG, and I really think I'm seeing less breakage than when I stretched it. I know hair is so individual there is no one size fits all routine. But I WnG, seal with hair grease and then for daily upkeep I moisturize (either steam from the shower or a quick spritz of water) and fluff with a light oil on my fingers. It's too soon to say for sure if this is working, but again I'm seeing less breakage so I'm hopeful. When I do stretch, I prefer braids (I actually get more tangles if I twist. . .dunno why). But I can't braid well enough to have a cute style while it stretches which is why I've been experimenting with the WnG. So far so good.

Alantai: Lovely video Charity! Was wondering if you could talk about your hair journey before it got super long. I am currently at an awkward length and have no idea what to do lol. Your hair is absolutely beautiful, by Gods grace✨

Semone G: I have 4c shrinking hair ...I never knew stretching my hair was so important.... No wonder it stared breaking off bad 2 years ago....

Alexandria Samedi: I’m literally just finding out today I needed to use a leave in conditioner. I’ve been natural forever but was always cutting my ends twice a week. Every time I would plant my hair I would have to cut the ends. I don’t use any heat. So… hopefully after I shampoo my hair. I’ll use a leave in conditioner and some clove and fenugreek butter. I was washing and conditioning… leaving my hair damn for the chebe with shea butter. I would two strand it… cut my ends… two days later… ends need cut again because they’ve gotten thin… I’m waiting on some leave in conditioner to be shipped. I really hope the leave in conditioner was the issue I was having. I am so tired of cutting my ends every other day…

Alexi Brown: Thank you for sharing. I appreciate the information. I currently use twists. I'm going to give braids a try Your hair is beautiful

Spiritual Being: I always keep my hair in twists, wash and wear. I never use heat and water my hair every morning and use some light oil and then put twists in one elastic and stretch using many elastics.

Naturally curly mama: Your hair is very beautiful

Keisha Peebles: I really enjoyed your video and yes ma'am your hair is gorgeous. I'm in a place right now length and fine strands has made me see it will be my best interest to stretch here on out. I'm dealing with beautiful lil coils tangling if I wash not in twist. I attempt finger detangling only but when I didn't this wash day and I didn't wash in twist it was a nightmare . I'm seriously considering locs from my bra strap length after yesterday wash day. I saw you hold the cream up you used on you stretched hair before twisting but I didn't catch what exactly kind of brand it was. Will you please share. I know I have damage to mend and adjustment to make if I'm going to remain a loose natural. Fine strands & 4a, long length gotta treat it right or you won't keep it on your head.

Trina's Motivation: Your hair is beautiful I just started the journey hope to go to waiste length too . Hope it does take me 10 years lol. I am currently experiencing shedding or breakage not sure I have been asking for some advice. Hope you can check my latest video and tell me your opinion please or anyone reading this literally need help

Julia Riley: Your hair is healthy and looking good..love it ❤
