Hey girl, hey, what's up so word in these dreams, is that jen jay's doing the no oil, no butter trend? Now it's not a trend, it's basic hair care. Anyways. Did you see her hair, though i know she loki looks crazy, but i can't stop watching same. Do you think she's gon na lose all her hair? No, why would you say that? Oh, my god you're so wrong? For that? Oh, my god, she just posted a video wow. You have notifications on, so you don't have notifications on wow swatch it! Okay, let's watch it hi guys welcome back to the channel. It'S a girl, hey! It'S a girl genji, of course, welcome back so today we're going to talk about my second week of using no oils, no butters, oh, my lovely, delicate foresy hair, and i also wanted the time to answer some of your questions, because we are all very skeptical about This method, and with reasons part of it, is because it is so different than what we usually do. We love as some oils. We love us some butters and also because who wants to wear wash and go all the time. We'Re also talking about slapping gel on our hair after we wash it. If you want to catch up. On the first episode of this series, i will put the link in the cards and down below also if you are not subscribed yet you keep coming back to this quality content. Wow, i'm judging you, but it's not too late to redeem your soul, so go ahead and hit the subscribe button and the bell. So you get notified every single time, your girl uploads a new video and also follow me on instagram, because i share my struggles in details about getting this wash and go situation right. So if you want to see that then follow me on instagram all right. So, let's get into the educational part of this video, and you know what i need my glasses for this one - that class is in session. So this strength or this way of taking care of your natural hair - and i say it this way, because i personally believe that you should do what's best for your hair, and i also believe that there isn't one way to take care of the hair. That is on your head, so this particular way of taking care of your hair is quite simple. There aren't many rules per se, but you're not supposed to use any raw oil or butters on your hair. That includes shea butter. Our beloved shea butter, coconut oil, castor oil, as well as eco, styler gel. While you add it, you should avoid any products that have these oils or butters in the top five of their ingredient list, and i know what you're thinking. Why would i want to do this? I know girl. I have the same questions too number one raw ingredients, such as your oils and your shea butters, are not meant to be used on your hair alone. Two, you get healthy, hydrated, hair and scalp by cleansing and conditioning your hair and number three oils and butters or not moisturizers, but i mean i guess. We already knew that and, as i said it very minimalistic way of taking care of your hair and it forces you to see your hair in its rawest, truest form without it being coated with layers and layers of oils and products fair enough right. So let me tell you what sold me on trying this method. Sure part of me wants to level up. I always want to do what's best for me, my body, my soul, my mind, everything, including my hair. Yes, there's that, and the second part was the discussion around your scalp. Okay, sure your hair is growing, but what about the condition of your scalp? It got me thinking about how much i take care of my skin and how much emphasis i put on cleansing my skin girl. If anything, i double cleanse twice a day granted i'm using an oil as the first cleanser, but i digress. The point is, i put a lot of emphasis on cleansing my skin and your scalp is also skin, but yet i'm not really cleansing it as much as i cleanse my skin, you see where i'm going with this. I noticed early on in my hair journey. How much my scalp can act up it all started after i stopped using shampoos entirely and if you've been around long enough, you remember the mud wash that everybody used tear essential and i actually really love the mud wash. But what i realized is when i used it with shea butter, for example, being a fake butter. It didn't really mesh so well over time. I got a bunch of product build up, which is why i reintroduced shampoos into my routine. But you know i don't want to give up my shea butter grow. On top of that, we can be very heavy-handed when it comes to using products. So if you're not cleansing your scalp regularly, i can see how that can pose some problems. Anyways back to this method, so the simple steps to taking care of your hair are cleansing, conditioning and styling your hair, that's it and repeat, after seven to ten days all right. So the main question that i got in my last video is well how the hell am i supposed to keep my hair moisturized throughout the week. It has been argued that you moisturize your hair during the shampoo and conditioning step. Basically, the ph of your shampoo is supposed to lift your cuticles up, allowing water to go inside your strand, and the ph of your conditioner is supposed to close your cuticles up sealing in that hydration that you put into your hair by that definition, your conditioner is Your sealant, i'm not making this stuff up words in the streets, is what i heard go out out, but understand that hydration is not forever. Your hair is going to dry within four to seven days, which is why it's recommended for you to use botanical gels gels that has humectant in them, and that is going to draw moisture to your hair, and also you got to do this weekly. You got to reset re-moisturize, wash your hair recondition every week, so that your hair stays moisturized. Now this is the part that is hard for me to swallow understand how important it is to take care of your hair weekly. This is what i recommended before the process of spraying water and oiling your hair during the week in hopes of re-moisturizing. It isn't actually moisturizing your hair. All you're doing is adding to the waterproof coating the waterproof layer, that's already on your hair. Meanwhile, your strands is inside and drying out. Girl girl, that's what i heard. I am just a messenger. I know i know it's all so different than what we used to doing, and it's really hard for me to swallow. Let me tell you why, like i said, i understand the importance of cleansing your scalp and conditioning your hair, especially on a consistent basis, but if my hair is feeling a little dry midweek, even while i'm doing this method right, while i have these botanical gels in My hair, why can i spray some water onto my hair, let's say four days later, just to really reuse everything? Why not that's the part that i'm like well make it make sense, because water is supposed to moisturize your hair, and if i don't have this coating of oil, fine can, i still add water to my hair. Those are the questions that need answers, and i also understand that oil and water don't mix right. I get that, but how much oil are we putting on our hair and how much oil is actually staying on our strength to create this waterproof coating? That, apparently, is stuck to our hair like. Is it really that deep? Because to my understanding, when i add oils to my hair, it is on my pillow a couple of days later. It is no longer on my hair, which is why my hair is feeling a little um midweek. In any case, we are doing this. We'Re trying this out and we're gon na see the difference. Okay, we don't want to be that person that question every step, although we are that person that questions every step. Well, let's talk about styling, which is the hardest part when it comes to this whole thing. Okay, in my last video i mentioned that i did a wash and go for the second week and it turned out entirely different, although i use the same product, so method really does matter so this week i went in the shower and i was carefree about it. All you want me to be minimalist. I will be minimalist okay, so i got in the shower and says. Listen to this. I did not section my hair. I just went in all winning nelly y'all. I let it rip says. I went right in jumped into the deep end. Yes, i did not section my hair and you know what it was okay, and on top of that, i shouldn't put twice i went in and you know what it was fine when it comes to handling your natural hair. As long as you are careful and gentle and you handling your hair with intention, it really doesn't matter if you're, adding oils and butter to be honest or if you're, not using all the butters. Your hair will be fine and you will have no problem with detangling. Like i said, i went in with my shampoo and i shampooed twice, but while i was shampooing my hair, i made sure to start the detangling process. By the time we slapped the conditioner on my hair felt really good. It was mostly detangled, but this time around i went ahead and used the brush. The brush that i used is the felicia leatherman leatherman leather, hood, felicia, leather hood brush, and i really enjoyed this brush. It'S really nice. In any case, i went in and thoroughly detangled my hair, and you know what, while i was in the shower slapped the gels right in i went in with the weeda gel and it actually foamed in a weird way, but i was so carefree about it. I think it's because i had so much water in my hair already, so it really foamed up and then i followed up with the foam and set in my hair. So it was a very um carefree way of doing my hair and it didn't take as long as it did the first time around. The thing is, i have 4c hair right and i am very comfortable with my hair. I'M not trying to create curls, i'm not trying to do what all these young girls are doing. You hear me: i am comfortable with my hair, not clumping up or not being super defined as long as she is moisturized and coated. I guess - and it's going to last me a week, i'm happy with that. I personally like a carefree fro and i actually don't like when my hair has a part and is in this task of a gel. If anything, i like it when it's more carefree when she's giving me 4c goodness, that's how i like it. After that i went ahead and sat under the hooded dryer shout out to nikita. She actually gifted me this dryer y'all, so listen girl! Thank you. So i sat under the dryer this time and set my hair so the next day i went ahead and really missed the wash and go. I fluffed it out and i had some really good definition still, especially in the front. Although my hair was a lot less defined than it was when i did the very first wash and go that one, i really took my time trying to really shingle the product and break it through creating some curls clumping things. So i didn't do that. The second time around and you could tell because my hair was a lot more carefree and it ended up shrinking a lot more throughout the end of the week as well. My hair felt fine throughout the week. I want to say around day five. That'S when my hair starts feeling really dry, but i also had a photo shoot so i'll. Let you guys watch the footage. Aloha, hey girl, hey says today is monday, which means that it is the very last day of my second week of this. No oil, no butter thing and normally i would have actually washed my hair. Today. However, i got my lashes done today: girl, okay, pause on this whole hair conversation. I got my lashes done today for the very first time ever in my entire life and do i look cute, i feel like i'm, giving you a girl some revives, except that my hair looks a little crazy, anyways, my hair. Let'S talk about my hair, okay, my scalp is itchy and you know what i think in my last video. I said that my scalp started itching around day. Four, this time around it started eating around day. Five yesterday was cool, but i also redid my hair. Okay, we have a lot to talk about a lot to unload, so i had a photo shoot on saturday, so, instead of kind of like resetting my whole hair or whatever, i kind of just use mousse on dirty hair - and you know what that's what they've been Telling me to do they say they use mousse, so i use milks okay, so i want to used most on my dirty hair and i just kind of like the laziest weight possible. I slapped some mousse on my fro because my hair was a flow at that time and i did some loose flat twist my hair into some rods and i sat under the dryer because you know mousse is hit activated. So these stylists say i don't know girl. So i went ahead and did that and my hair actually dried pretty quickly. So i did my hair within a couple of hours, so i sat under the dryer. While i did my makeup and then i air dried a little bit after that - and i took the blow dryer to my hair - listen girl, we're gon na get it done one way or another and my hair turned out so cute. So the reason why i wanted to talk to you or update you guys with my hair is because she she looks crazy. She is giving me crazy, vibes she's, giving me i am homeless a little bit she's, giving me i may or may have not killed somebody earlier today so, like i said it started out really really cute in the little twisted flat twist situation. However, now she's okay, you know what i'm still stuffing my hair in vomits, though so just keep all that into perspective and some of that she's dry. Okay, this is what i will describe as dry hair. My hair feels pretty dry. I do feel a slight little coat of very tiny coat of. Perhaps this is the most. Perhaps this is the gel that i originally put in my hair. I would have washed my hair today, however, because i got my lashes done. Your girl is acting brand new because i got my lashes done. I can't get them more for 24 hours, so i will have to wash my hair tomorrow. I do want to give you a little peep on my scalp. I don't know how my stuff is doing, but i want to check and see how we're doing, because you know i don't put anything on my scalp anymore and actually before i do that um sebum is at a minimum. This time around. I feel like the first week was just a bunch of sebum, but now it's kind of like you know it's there, it's low-key there, but looking out there so we'll see - and i just want to get in there and get a nice part going. This is my scalp, i don't know if you can see it. Okay, maybe i don't have any like. Do i not have any plates? I kind of expected some flaking all right. We do have a little bit of flaking on myself. Is that a little bit? That'S like a moderate amount of flaking on my scalp. I also want to say that i use a bunch of gel. So perhaps you know you know, maybe it's the gel. Oh yeah. We got a ton of flakes up in here. Okay, i wasn't actually planning on doing a wash and go this week. However, since i got my new products, i am gon na, do another wash and go and then we'll see how it goes and uh we'll let jen take it away. Today is wednesday, and i should have washed my hair on monday, but i didn't so we're about nine days post wash day. I do plan on washing my hair. Today i got some new product says so i'm so excited. Let me give you my thoughts on this method so far, i feel like the method is very simple: to be honest: if you're not really chasing for curls, then you're not gon na have a lot of issues at first, although i'm sure i will improve over time. I always say that anything that you do in life once you keep doing it, you will improve, i feel like it forces you to accept your hair and also your hair texture, so how your hair is in its raw form. It kind of forces you to accept her. It also forces you to take care of your hair weekly, which is really good when it comes to hair care. Okay, i always say it: you got to reset your hair, you got to wash your hair and you have to condition i used to be a avid deep, conditioner, i'm trying this thing out, but if, at the end of the day it really forces you to put Water on your hair, every single week and water is key. Water is hydration, so at the very least, you would only go one week without putting water on your hair. I also think it's great that there is a lot of emphasis on washing thoroughly washing your hair. As well as your scalp, i think we have a lot of scalp issues because we shower away from washing our hair. So if you have a lot of product build up or if you think you have dandruff but really it could be related to some oils or products that are building up on your scalp, then that method is going to be really good and to be fair, i Feel like it's probably good, to take a break from oils and butter if you're using something for a really long time, there's no harm in taking a break or doing a detox right. We do detox for our bodies. So what is the harm in that? My biggest thing is that i do feel like i'm coating, my hair with a bunch of gel versus an oil or butter. I feel, like i'm still coating my hair with something and i'm coating, my hair with a lot of gel. So that part, i'm still very iffy about, but i do understand that the gel plays more of a roll than the oil does. If you're using good quality gel it's going to have humectants in there and that's going to draw some moisture into your hair versus the oil, that's just going to cool your hair. So as your hair dries within that coating, it's going to stay dry. So i get that part, but i still feel like i'm quitting my hair with a ton of gel. You know what i mean all right. Well, that wraps up week, two of the no oil, no butter thing. I wasn't planning on doing another wash and go, but i am going to because i got some new products. Yes, i got the product that black girls curls actually recommended to do this with so super excited. You'Re gon na have to tune in next time, though, to see my wash and go using the products that they recommended, but yeah very exciting stuff all right. Thank you so much for watching my video. Thank you for hanging out with me, and i will see you in the next one. Bye

Edua Gonzalez: This is why I’ve never stopped following you! You are one of the few 4c naturals that truly accepts their 4c hair for it’s full glory and you’ve made me love my hair as well, shrunken and all . Im not gonna lie, I’m still side eyeing the no oil/butter method but your hair looks FIRE SIS!!!

Nickynatro *: Girl is now an actress lol. Loving it! Love the video quality.

Kammara Jackson: I think there is a slight miscommunication, if you feel that you need more hydration then it is absolutely ok to re-wet your hair midweek if you need to. As a matter of fact they say that if you’re chronically dehydrated then re-doing your hair mid week is great to up your hydration levels. They just don’t think that spraying it is gonna cut it. You need to get back in the shower and start again. If it’s mid-week, u may not need a shampoo so u could co-wash or use a moisture-poo. But at the end of the week you’ll need to use an all purpose shampoo to prevent build up. You’re doing great by the way. Love your content, it’s so fun to watch.

Shavavian Allister: I had to pause the video to come give you ALL OFTHEPROPSFORTHATINTROOOOO. *stands, round of applause* girl!! You did that!!

Kathleen Adeshoga: i loved the skit in the beginning! so creative! from my understanding "refreshing" the hair midweek with water to reactivate the gel/styler is mainly to prolong the current style style or re-style the hair in a different way. you only moisturize hair during the cleanse and condition process. i noticed that as the detox went longer my hair retained moisture for a lot longer and styles lasted longer throughout the week without the need for refreshing/restyling, even in humid weather and exercise. hopefully you get to try the buff or satin scarf to set the hair at night, that definitely helped prolong styles for even longer! and if you're not in the seesomecurls society yet, they answer a lot of great questions in there too and work you through the trial and error if you post pictures.

MyTVGuide: I’m so happy you’re trying this! You’re the first 4C Youtuber I’ve seen give this a shot. I started this method this past Sunday, so I’m on day 2. Totally sprayed my hair with water this morning to pick it out, though. I had my doubts about this method. I thought it was the newest hype to get 4c-haired people to keep obsessing over “definition.” I’m like you where hydration is most important to me, and I love my hair looking like a cloud. I’ve worn my hair out two days in a row which is officially the longest I’ve let my hair loose in a long time (11 years I’ve been natural). Loss of hydration and my ends tangling were why I shied away from wearing my hair loose for more than a day. But so far so good! My previous method wasn’t harming my hair, but shoot if this method can cut down on styling time and elongate hydration, then consider me a convert.

NO: I think this is like weight loss. Only the truly patient and dedicated will see results. The impatient ones will give up after two weeks and say the "detox didn't work" scaring the rest away. I've been doing this for 4 months now and I have a new head of hair. The first two weeks I was still skeptical but now I CANNOT imagine going back to using a million different products, raw butters, and spending hours doing my hair. Ya'll we really let corporations and youtubers who want to get paid by them dupe us into thinking we need to constantly buy a million products for our hair

LaToya Ebony: Look at Jenn J not using sections!! I’ve always preferred to wash my hair this way. I’m so proud of you lol! I’ve gotta try Ouidad. It’s always been really popular for people with curly hair (I used to work for Sephora). I’m catching up on your journey and enjoying it!!

miniminott48: Jenn, lovely intro! I am convinced more and more that everyone's hair is different. My hair can go 2 weeks without refreshing and remain defined and moisturized in wash and gos. At this point, I don't use gels or mousse. I lock in the water with a leave in, cream and seal with olive oil. My scalp starts feeling itchy by Day 12 but I don't have flaking at all. I always use a sulphate shampoo from scalp to strands and a rinse-out conditioner or deep conditioner (not both) mixed with fresh aloe vera. My wash/detangling to styling routine lasts 2 hours at most. I always use a hooded dryer to dry my hair. This is a practice I maintained from my relaxed hair days. I big chopped to a TWA March 2019. My hair is not 4C but it is Type 4: 4A to be exact. My hair starts feeling dry if I go past the 2 week mark. My hair is slightly below armpit length.

Positively Healthy Vibes: That intro was everything... I love it!!!LOVING the energy and the delivery sis is beautiful

Anna B: Jenn, I really love these new videos sm. I really have no interest in trying this trend but your hair still looks pretty. Can I also add that sis is glowingggggg

tigana: Glad the pendulum is finally swinging, the trend of needing 10 products and 3 hour wash days was companies promoting overconsumption•.• the ancestors never needed all that

tishushu: I’m so glad you were able to wash without sectioning and that your wash time is diminishing! Even more glad you are embracing Cleanse, Condition, and Style!

Phylicia: This video is so great! Great acting, scene changes, and everything

Melissa Bkn: I just love your new way of making videos. It’s so entertaining!

6percentbattery: Jenn I’m super super impressed with your editing and the energy you’ve been giving. You literally had me laughing out loud. I’m highkey excited for the next episode

BRKLYN 29: I remember there was a YouTuber who shampooed without sectioning her hair and she received so much negativity for doing this. She got 4c hair too. I am happy people are trying different methods for their hair. You hair is so healthy. I am also comfortable with my 4C hair and just rock it.

Cypriss Wood: I think it’s really great that you’re using your platform to share your learning because I’m personally very curious and I love your content! Yes, I got the notification

sara7mk: For me 5-7 days is a long time to go without redoing my wash & go. I co-wash and restyle during the week so that my hair doesn't dry out (I don't use oils or butters). Have you thought about trying co-washing during the week, in addition to your once a wk shampoo/conditioning?

Devin L: if you need to wash with moisturizing shampoo on day 5 instead of day 7, then do it. Give your hair what it needs. Loved the transparency. Great video

1GoldenBreeze: Subbed. This is how I've been taking care of my hair for years. My hair has never liked any of those oils or butter and it wouldn't let me get on the raw oils and butter train. As long as my product has some light oil included in it my hair is happy and good to go, and I'm too style challenged to wear anything other than wash n go's or a bun. So it's a wash n go probably 90% of the time because I can do it in the shower and be done except for defusing when I get out. LoL

Busola Oseni: The introo❤️❤️❤️ The time, the editing, the diligent effort, the sass, the wittiness, the creativity Love it love it

Gabrielle Taylor: Omg love this, the editing & engagement with different Jens and different rooms is all that!!!

Mrs Gooden: You’re a breath of fresh air jenn. Love love love your content.

Karen M: Wow, loved the intro! Love your love of 4C goodness as usual and your grace & fair mindedness as you experiment with something new. Can’t wait to see next video

sherlyn: Hi Jen! I love how you are embarking on this journey of no oils and butters. I'm not sure if I could do that but I just love watching your videos. I'm a new subby! I was wondering have you ever thought about doing daily cowashing for moisture? Even if you don't do it daily, maybe every 2-3 days? I do daily cowashing and my hair loves it. My hair is 4c and pretty similar looking to yours. Obviously our hair isn't the exact same but I feel like daily cowashing would help with the moisture in your hair. Since you aren't too concerned with defined curls, this could help. Also, over time, your curls may become more defined because of the hydration from the water daily. I use oils and butters to seal my hair daily but since I cowash every day, technically I don't have to but I feel better if I seal with butter or oil (especially since winter is here). Since you don't use oils and butters, daily cowashing could help you. Benefits of daily cowashing - moisturized hair - barely any tangles because hair is constantly being detangled and shed hair is removed which causes tangles - stimulation of scalp (faster hair growth) - springier curls because of the daily water from the shower I should also point out that every week or so, I do use a shampoo (sometimes even a sulfate shampoo). I totally understand that cowashing is not washing my natural hair. Cowashing is for moisture. I think you should try this method. Even if you don't do it every day, you could try every 3 days if that works for you. I recommend every day especially in the winter because the air is so dry. I tend to do it mid-afternoon so that it is not right before bed. I prefer to not do it in the morning in winter because if I have to be out of my house right away, my head will be cold lol. I did this method back in July 2015 after a big chop, and from that time until July 2016, I retained all of my length (about 6 inches) within that year. I trimmed my hair probably twice during that year and I still retained a lot. I then gave up because my hair got longer and so I did twist outs and braid outs and my hair did not gain nearly as much in a year compared to the daily cowashing. I started the daily cowashing again on Dec. 8th, 2021 (literally 17 days ago) and I love it. I really think you'll benefit. Lastly, just wanted to say I'm Haitian as well!!

Jellebeans: The production quality of this video though! love it. Thanks for keeping us posted. I’m sticking with my oil for now

Nikki: I've also been following this new haircare regimen for 3months and my hair is THRIVING. I used uncle funkys curly magic and the doux mousse def together for my washngos. If want to twist my hair up I use Quemit Biologics burdock root cream Only! No leave in conditioner and no longer using oil to seal! And my hair stays moisturized for 7-10days! I've been natural 7years..and this is the most effective regimen I've ever used. Products: as I am curl clarity shampoo once per month A moisturizing shampoo every 7-10 days. A moisturizing conditioner *as long as there is no oil or butters in the first 5 of the ingredient list. The level of hydration that my hair has is bind blowing.. Way less breakage and shedding More sebum production and my hair curls from root to ends..no more halos of frizz!

Annyetta: I love the intro skit! Your hair looks great! I'm not doing this challenge per se, but I do wash with a clarifying shampoo to get rid of build up and limit how much oil I use (I've never used any raw butters on my hair anyway).

Delores Quasie-Woode: Jenn! You have outdone yourself with this video! Loved it!!

I Am Claudette: This intro was wild...love it. I tried this using Aunt Jackies gel and my hair still feels moisturized. Love this.

Joy Banks: I wash my hair mid-week with a co-wash because I work out and sweat. It's so easy for me to just re- do my wash n go in the shower. My scalp loves me .

Samantha McIntosh: Love the creativity running rampant in this video! Excited to see what UFD gel does for your hair

Cypriss Wood: Finally got to the end of the video!! I’m looking forward to the results you get when you use the Black girl curls techniques with their suggested products. Looking forward to what’s next

Lily: How I understood it. The detox is to remove the buildup of oils and properly cleanse the scalp. They don't have a problem with oils its the oils in the raw form is where it's not as beneficial as when it's mixed in with products. And it's not that the oil doesn't allow any moisture into your hair it's more of in the natural hair community we use alot of oils and butters but we aren't properly washing our hair. So if you aren't washing with a balance/ clarifying shampoo and only cowashing you aren't allowing the oils and butter to be removed from the hair so it's a constant build up that makes it harder and harder for your hair to retain moisture. So it's more of a balance make sure you are washing properly to remove build up and allow your hair to flourish

The Adventures of Mr. Moon: You do an excellent job of creating quality content. Hard work and dedication girl. Love your videos.

Miyoshi McCree: Sooooooo, I'm on week four and I've actually rewet my hair daily to reactivate my smushed hair each day. I'm still having q hard time getting my hair to clump without my heavy cream by UFD called Super Curl. It pairs so well wth the Curly Magic, so my definition is definitely not what it was. I do like that my hair dries faster, but I'm used to clumping and definition so it's still a struggle for me. My hair looks really good after I finish styling it, then once it dry, I don't see the same definition that I saw when it was wet. I also ordered a couple more products from Innersense to try with the I Create Hold Gel to see if I can achieve the results I want. Can't wait to see how you like the UFD Curly Magic.

Rachel M.: Shea butter is too dang thick for my strands, and I'm type 4. I use UFD curly magic straight after deep conditioning, and it has my strands so moisturized. The product literally holds water in your hair like a sponge. I only do wash and gos so the more you do them the easier it gets. No issue with single strand knots. I no longer have to shingle for curl definition. In my opinion, it's such a low, low maintenance style.

Veronica S: The products you bought are what I use! Why am I excited?! You are right, it's whatever works for your hair. My scalp itches by day 5 and I do re wet to reactivate the gel on day 3 sometimes. That intro... love your content

Sunflowers❤️✨: I'm living for this introyou should do more intros with this editing. Girl, you're getting super talented at everything ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Clarissa Higgins: I'm excited for you. Once you use the right products, it makes all the difference.

Krista Asoluka: Yunno it's funny how everything in this life keeps recycling. Washing, conditioning and styling was always the way people took care of their hair before the birth of the natural hair community.

Angella Nalunga: You are so brave thanks for doing this! Xx

Anayah Isreal: I’m proud of you, keep up the good work!

sharkristella: Lol. That intro!! Low key I feel that’s how you be in real life taking to yourself. I’ll come back when I’m finished watching Jenn: Girl...Oh My Gosh!! I know I know Also Jenn:Girl...I don’t know, I don’t know Content and delivery quality on point as usual!! Loved the editing and transitions in this video.

Shena52: I enjoy watching your videos. For me I just use a good styler or cream(which works best for your hair).. your leave in, stylers and creams pretty much have the same ingredients in them just the viscosity varies. Just make sure they have water as first ingredient. Sometimes I might use a thin layer of deep conditioner on my hair. I haven't done the detox because I wash my hair with a cleansing shampoo every 2 weeks. I have cut down on using all of the different steps...we have been impressed to think we need all of these steps when we don't.‍♀️

Carls: Jenn your hair looks great . I have a chemistry minor and from what I remember you do too ? Educate us, OK! Anyway. Everyone has to learn their own texture. I’m a lazy natural, so I’ve “accidentally” done this method before. Lol. Excellent video.

Fanisizing: I'm so here for this series!!!

kordey yusif: Jenn is feeling alive, that is new Jenn and I am loving her

Tiarrea B Just Doing Me: Yesss intro!! Omg! So creative. I am really enjoying these updates Sis. Keep them coming.

Shanice Mwapela: I stopped using oils on my scalp after I went natural. And now my scalp itches like crazy when I put oils on it after styling

Mary Clarke: Thanks for sharing. I'm questioning as why they (the influencers) are recommending specific products over others regarding this latest trend. I still remember the "super hydrating method". I may consider trying this ( although I really appreciate my butter& oil combination).

Miss MB: Uncle Funky’s Daughter is A L W A Y S a winner! I wash my hair EVERY week, so oils and butters have never been a problem.

Neosoul_prima: “When I add oils to my hair… it is on my PILLOW mid week” my favorite line! As a person whom has done a version of this method for the past 4 months… I agree that your conditioner is your bae! However, I use my deep conditioners still! Textured hair needs it. Due to environmental factors and styling, a treatment with protein, no matter the porosity is key! I also still do my twist outs, and my hair is thriving. Textured hair loves to be stretched! Not forced, but twist outs just work for me! I still use my oils to separate my hair, cause touching my hair with dry hands is a no no lol

Sandra Porter: Iam encouraged by you! I don't put anything on my scalp and I shampoo weekly. Now I don't feel like I'm krazy. It works for me thx

Ansha Aisha: Your editing skills are on a 1000! #teachme

Shanta Dawson: I use a leave in but no butters or oils as part of my wash day. I do style with humectants.

Diane S: Hi, new subscriber. I also think itchy scalp and flakes may be due to the products used or perhaps the ingredients. Some preservatives may be irritating to some. I felt like that was my issue. My scalp is sensitive. I personally avoid a specific preservative. It was trial an error but I think I figured out what irritated my skin. I was never a person to use much oils or butters. I always preferred wash and goes so this method wasn’t much of a change except I use more water and no leave in. I have always washed my hair once a week but I won’t lie it was crunchy from the gels so my goal is to have crunch free hydrated curls. I find that by day five I need to wash my hair because she dry. I used to go 7 days but like I said my hair was crispy and crunchy. It’s been a month (4 weeks). I never had a problem with curl definition but I tend to get more frizz now. I am so tempted to use my leave ins, which I probably will #usemystash of leave ins, but lightly. As long as the first 5 ingredients have no oils or butters. Good luck to you and your hair journey. I’ve been natural 4 years now and it has definitely been a journey. Healthy hair is most important.

Regina Blackshear: I love your videos! You are so funny to me, but very informative. ❤

Light side of the Moon: Hmmmm, I mist with water as needed but my air NEEDS the leave-in, cream/butter AND oil. But not just any old oil. It needs the CASTOR OIL, undiluted. Works for me so I'm sticking to it.

Little Won: Such a natural beauty

The Cozy Canary: Yassss. I'm at month 3. I love it.

Faith Bank: That intro is everything!!!

Jordyn Winder: No water products for the whole week and you can use a low comedogenic oil on day 3 and 5 of the challenge for scientific brushing. Almond oil or hempseed oil is best (organic)

Tyreanna Wolfe: I feel like we be talking to each other Love your authentic videos ☺️

psr076: Love the intro !!! Yes ! Love the humour you put in it !

Novene Bainter: Excellent wash day the second time around. Wash day no longer take that long. For myself the first two week I had to wash my hair every 3days. Now I can go for five to 7 days.

Charlotte Roberts: I don't know about you but I really like your hair with the no oil and no butter routine. Are is it that you can rock any style?

Gabrielle Taylor: Also this method made my scalp burn from all the frequent washes. I really have light product on my hair but even still if my hair is dirty doesn’t always mean my scalp is dirty so doing this 4 months in was not the best. It’s been 2-3 weeks of me using cleansing conditioners and stopping with shampoo but my scalp is still trying to heal .. anyone else experience this and what did you do?

Tashou17: I lovvvveeeee the introoo very instructive video. Im planning to do my first wash n go on my next wash day ☺️

Living Beyond Vision: Loooove the way you introduced your video!!! Creative and clever!

Atara Bat-Yah: Oils don't stop water from entering my strands. That's evident everytime my afro gets caught out in the rain .

Latasha Pannell: Love that UFD gel!! Amazing!!! And yes when u put water on that gel it will moisture your hair and reactive the gel…chefs kiss

Andiswa: I love this already❤️❤️ I love you so much! Always feels like girl chat with you

lionEmp: I get where there are coming from, but at the same time, ...I dont think that the oil layer they are talking about is as concrete as they say it is. Oil dries out and evaporate. Like if it was so impenetrable, when u wet your hair before shampooing, water would never get into the cuticle. I understand saying oil isn't a moisturiser, cause we all know that we use it as a sealant and u need to cleanse your hair and scalp but choosing gel over oil is just replacing one "issue" with another

Myesha: Thatloulou and Jennifer rose nyc are 2 other professional stylist who give great haircare advice .

Neelie Whoisasking: HAVE ANY THIN TYPE 4 (C,D, E, F, G) BEAUTIES TRIED THIS YET? If so, please share your experience so far.

Sabrina Rose: Your videos are awesome. You probably the only natural hair YouTuber I still follow because your content is so bomb.

Moist for the win: Girl that white looks great on you!!!

Chelsea Mpanza: Such an exciting video Jenn

Oglaia Pinas: I love that you show us the amount of hair loss/shed.

Cryss Trueheart: GIRLLLLLLL that introduction was the bomb.com!!!!!! Come thru with the creativity, and turn your notification.

Mercy Abena Essuah: Ugh! She looks stunning

sedsa097: I think it depends on the climate. Do what the local ppl do wherever you are. They have centuries of knowledge. Also this may not help alot if you were already regularly clarifying your hair, depending on where you live.

Missbeky736: Maybe you should consider using a foam only? It doesn't leave a heavy cast and it has a medium to light hold depending on the foam. You are not looking for definition so I don't think a gel is a good choice for your taste.

Stephanie Gray: Loved the intro lol too funny. Also you are looking amazing in that thumbnail!

TheOddOne: Someone would have to pry my bottle of olive oil out of my cold, dead hands. Good luck tho.

RDR: LOL. I see you have the UFD and I Create Hold. That gel combo changed my life. I hope you enjoy it. Thank you for sharing your journey.

My 1st Love: I definitely want to try this method or incorporate the new products listed I screenshot them all. Can’t wait for your new video to see how you use them

Felicia W: I'm so excited for these videos!

Rhonda Denis: Honey you are doing great. Over time your wash and goes will get a lot better and last longer. Your moisture levels will increase and the definition will last longer. I love your hair. But honey your skin is also amazing.

Tjino Tjipura: Lost me at repeat after 7 days. Girl I put this hair in a protective style for a month. I'm that lazy

Jessica Smith: I CANNOT imagine, well maybe in my scariest of nightmares, doing my hair weekly. Negative. My life would revolve around my hair, daughter #1s hair AND daughter #2s hair…and then if we left it in it’s raw form. I wash, condition, and do the LCO method for all three heads about every 4-6 weeks. Regardless, I really enjoyed this video and knowledge you brought. VERY CUTE intro as well!!

Kina W: The growth oil by Camille Rose is good on my scalp

Cheshire Dj: Great production! And it looks like you are having fun, luv it.

Enn Vee: Come through editing!!

Tierra Diax: I would like to know more about the knots and tangles. Once upon a time they were saying too much wash and go's led to knots and tangles, now we good? Also, where is the variety in styling while doing this method? Wash and go into a ponytail? Up do? Side do? Like what about the gals who don't want their hair out. Guide me Jen...

A GIRL HAS NO NAME: This style is really cute. I can't be bothered with all the eventual detangling tho

Melanie Oyadina Smith: The intro is Everything

PreppyFay12: I think another option you can do if you don’t want to re-wash your hair midweek is go in the shower without shower cap and let the steam wake up your hair, then let it dry and shuzz it (only after it’s dried to reduce frizz) that’s what my stylist said to do if my wash n go is flat or a little dry.
