Hey Beauties!

I’ve gotten SO many questions about how I texlax / relax my hair. So today I’m taking you step by step on my texlaxing process—the products I use, my relaxer timing, treatments and styling!

I’m not a professional hair stylist, so definitely default to the advice of your beautician. It’s SUPER important to make sure you’re taking all the right steps towards healthy hair care.

You can find the Design Essentials products mentioned in this video at the link below:

xoxo,

Lex

What'S up everybody welcome back to my channel Alexis Kimberly here. I am so happy you're here today, I'm very excited because we are doing a highly requested video, which is how in the world Alexis do you actually tech, slacks. Your hair definitely stay tuned to the end of this video because I'm going to be giving you all a step-by-step on how I tech slacks my hair from start to finish and along the way I'm gon na, be giving you guys photos so that you can literally See my process from the beginning, to the end of how I get my text lacks results, but before I get into that for the best hair makeup and beauty tips definitely hit that subscribe button, as well as the notification bell, so that you can be alerted every Time I upload a video every Sunday so getting into the process itself very exciting. It is relaxer day we're here. We'Ve got plenty of new growth to work with, so we are ready to get our touch up. The first thing that I do is I base my scalp or my stylist will base my scalp. We use design essential products from start to finish. We start with basing the scalp with the calm soothing, scalp protection. Sorry, I'm looking down, because I want to make sure that I'm getting it right. We base my hairline all around my perimeter and she also goes through quarter inch sections of my hair throughout my head in applying the base to make sure my scalp is fully covered. Next up, we are putting the relaxer on her head. I should mention that the relaxer that we use again is part of the design essentials line, but specifically it's the low live relaxer with olive oil and shea butter. It says that it is a sodium hydroxide and lithium hydroxide relaxer as part of the benefits. It purports to be ideal for color-treated, hair below level 7 damaged, hair or clients seeking to loosen their curl texture, which is exactly what we are doing. So that is the relaxer that I use, so my stylist will divide my hair into four parts, one in the back one in the back right, one in the back left one in the top right and one the top left and in each section she will divide The hair and apply the relaxer to each smaller section with each within each quarter. So if I remember correctly, she will go from the back right quarter, section get through all of that, get through the back left quarter section get through. All of that moved to the right top quarter, section get through all of that and then to the left top section and get through all of that and then from there that takes about 12 minutes from start to finish, we will go straight to the sink and I should mention that she does not comb through my hair when she applies a relaxer to my hair. She just lets it sit on the hair. She might smooth it with her fingers a little bit or with the back of a comb, but she doesn't actually comb through the hair or pull the hair to get it to be straight or bone Street. That'S not what she does. She applies it. She smoothes it. Maybe a little bit with, like I said her fingers are in the back of her comb and then she moves on. We take about 12 minutes from start to finish from the point that she that the relaxer touches my head touches my hair to the point that I'm at the sink and rinsing it's 12 minutes. So once I get to the sink after the relaxer has been processed fully. My stylist will then rinse out my hair several times and wash it with a neutralizing shampoo to stop the chemical from processing. That'S exactly what it is. It neutralizes, the chemical also guys. I just want to show you guys a pic of my hair shrinkage. Part of my hair is blown out straight and my stylist is holding the hair that she has not yet blown out. That is still partially wet and is still in a shrunken state. So you can see several inches of shrinkage there with this chemical process. You do still have shrinkage and your shrinkage is pretty significant. It'S not going to be the same as your hair in its natural state, but you will still have pretty significant shrinkage, so I just wanted to show that to you guys, then we always follow up with a protein treatment, because literally the process of relaxing your hair Is a chemical process that breaks down the protein bonds in your hair, so we always follow it up with a pro a treatment to restore the protein. In my hair after my hair has been washed I've gotten my protein treatment and conditioning. We will then move to move on to styling and from there it really kind of just depends on what I want to do with my hair. If I am going back to a protective style, then I will have her blow out my hair and braid it up. For me, so that I can wear my wigs over my real hair or I will just have her blow it out and Flatiron it and then I'll just walk out the door. So it really just depends on what I am doing, the style that I'm going for, and I will show you a photo of my most recent relaxer, which was back in June of this year June of 2019. This was my hair. After we did the relaxer and she blew up my hair after this relaxer service, I ended up just braiding up my hair into you know a for a protective style, so we didn't Flatiron it or anything. As you can see, there is significant texture remaining in my hair. In this picture, I was in need of a trim, so keep that in mind but yeah. That is what my hair looks like after it's been relaxed after it's been treated and blown out, so those are the finished results and when all is said and done, my relaxer process takes me from a 4c texture to about a four a texture, I would estimate. I hope that this was helpful for you guys and just giving you a step-by-step on what my stylist does to achieve my tech slacks results. I wanted to like give you guys something so that you know what my process is and how long I leave my relaxer on. This is just my process and I wanted to share it with you guys, because I know that so many of you have been wondering what I do, and even just inquiring, because you're really interested in text like seeing your hair or you're. Just even just thinking about text locks in your hair, so I hope that was helpful for you guys if you have any stories that you want to share or any tips that you have on your text. Laxing process or you're relaxing process definitely leave a comment down below so that we can start having a conversation. I always reply to your comments. I love when you guys write me. It'S just you know. It just feels good to know that there are other women out there who are relaxed or tech slacks and we're kind of experiencing this together. I know that we're kind of like in the minority now it's and that's not a bad thing, but like we're kind of in the minority, and so it's nice to kind of support each other. So definitely leave a comment down below like this video. If it was helpful, I hope that it was, and I hope that, if you're considering tech, slack saying that you take some of you know some of my steps in making sure that you are obtaining great results when you text slacks your hair and definitely hit the Subscribe button like we're talking, hair and beauty like it, doesn't get much better than that, so definitely hit the subscribe button and until next time guys, I will see you all in my next video bye, guys.

Ashley Payne: Thanks for this video! I’ve been natural for almost 11 years and reaching the point where I’m so frustrated with time consuming hair care, and not retaining length like I did when I was relaxed. How does your stand up to the elements? I’m tired of leaving the house with a cute style and coming home looking like a 5yr old who just came off the playground, due to humidity or whatever weather the day brings. Thanks for your help!

Dr. G: You’re fortunate to have a great stylist! Thanks for sharing!

aa y: I just love your videos ! Straight to the point and very detailed !

Regina Tillman: I have been WON over ! That’s it!! Been watching texlax vids for two days now and I’m convinced I should just do it lol ! Been natural for 6 yrs now and it’s time for a change! LOVE your results and I’m super hype your stylist is in NY cause I live in NY! Definitely looking forward to her doing my texturizer

Summer24: Thanks for this tip, im over being natural and its so its time consuming. Texlax seems reasonable.

BatiYah Yisrael: Omg, thank you soooo much!! I learned a lot from just a couple of your vids. My hair shrinks about 80% Im 4c too. I wanna see more of my length without having to blow dry and I want it to stay without reverting so quickly. Ive been natural since 7th grade. Im past my 30's girl. Lol Thanks for mentioning shrinkage, your specific lo lye, and time from first touch to finish! Very helpful. Edit: 6-2020 Since then I have used a no lye relaxer for 15 minutes from first touch to tex. It was ok overall. It stretched my hair yet still looked natural when wet...HOWEVER, afterwards (about 2 or 3 weeks later) I used Mizani Chelating shampoo on my hair for fear that my hair would be damaged by "mineral deposits", etc. Thisshitfucked myhairup! I knew I was taking a risk with chemical processes so I'm not totally devastated but VERY dissapointed. I should have stopped with the relaxer and waited to see if I would get any breakage before using anything so harsh to repair. I literally started to see and feel hairs coming out in my hands each day after the chelating shampoo. So beWare! I have since tried Olaplex 3, Dark and Lovely repair...Olaplex is harsh and I don't want to use weekly. I've since braided my own hair, NO kankelon or crochet...also very damaging...hoping to grow out what I have and not cut or loc. We'll see. Good thing I know how to grow my hair and that is by putting water in it Daily. It is what it is. Would I relax again? Yes, probably, (just to give it a fair shot) but no more chelating shampoos!!! Uugh. All is well.

Angel Wings: Very helpful. Thank you
