Hey guys, my name is canet and welcome back to my youtube channel, so today's video is going to be about my hair care, routine and all of the products that I use in my hair. So I'm going to go through my hair type kind of what I use on a daily basis or what I use when I wash my hair and yeah. So if you want to learn more about to my hair care routine, then just keep watching okay. So I have very fine hair, but I have a lot of it, so my hair is pretty thick, not like each individual strand, but I have a lot of hair um. I have not had my haircut and probably only been over a year. To be honest, so I am starting to get some dead ends and I could definitely use a refresher. I think the last time I cut my hair, it was like here so yeah, it's been about a year and it's grown like this much I used to actually make all of my own hair care products, and I am gon na - do a DIY series on making Your own shampoo and conditioner, because I think, like I, really enjoyed that when I had the time to do it, but this videos gon na be products that I actually purchased that I use so I have, since I stopped using my own hair care. Are my own hair products? I was experimenting with just a bunch of different things, mostly drugstore. To be honest, I also was traveling a lot, so I was using a lot of like Hotel, shampoo, conditioner and and yeah. I didn't really like how it was working in my hair. I recently purchased a haircare line that I actually really really love and I'll explain why, but so the main products, like my shampoo conditioner, is this: what's the brand, it is aromatic a --, and i got this from yes style calm. So this is, i got the volume version and it has lemongrass in it. So I'll talk about the shampoo first, so this shampoo has a bunch of different plant extracts in it. The main surfactant is sodium, methyl Coco Tour 8, sodium Coco isocyanate and sodium methyl Tour 8, so those are kind of the surfactants that are gon na, like actually cleanse your hair. I find this to be very non stripping, so something that I really don't like about. Shampoo is, after you rinse it out, and your hair almost feels like. I don't know how to describe it like it's just like this motion that it just feels totally stripped from all the oils. This does not do that and I use probably between two and three pumps every time, because I just like a huge lathering situation and what I do when I shampoo is actually leave it on for a couple of minutes. So when I'm in the shower, I will you know shampoo, mostly I just shampoo my roots, so my scalp and I massage it in in circular motions and then I'll leave that in there, while I wash my underarms and whatever and then I'll rinse it out. But I do leave it in for a little bit of time, and after I rinse this out, I find that it doesn't leave my hair feeling totally stripped and totally dry, which is something that I really don't like about most shampoos. They leave your hair, very stripped feeling and like kind of when you, when you tug on it or not, tug on it, but you I don't know how to describe this but like when you're going like this, and it just feels so so stripped. So I really like this - it also does have a scent to it that I really enjoy. So if you are really sensitive, CHEO, fragrance and essential oils, this might not be for you. But for me it's totally fine and I do have sensitive skin, but it has so has lemon oil rosemary, which rosemary is really good for your hair. It has orange oil, tangerine oil, Bergamo, cedar, wood and yeah. That'S pretty much it, but it just has a nice really like fresh scent, it's not overpowering, but it makes my hair smell really nice and my bathroom smells really nice after and I've really really really been enjoying this. I will try and link stuff in the description, but I think the biggest thing here is those surfactants, so I'll put them up on the screen, the ones that I mentioned, but they're just not really stripping they're, not really drying on my hair at all. So I've been really enjoying this shampoo and then the conditioner is from the same line and the same kind of series. So it's their volume series with lemongrass and so this conditioner again it has a ton of different plant extracts in it. But the main, but the main conditioning and in here our behenna ammonium metha sulfate glycerine Sottero alcohol, and it does have caprylic caprica triglyceride, which is a coconut oil derivative. So it has a little bit of oil in it, but something that i have not been liking from other conditioners is basically, if I put the conditioner in my roots, that all my hair gets greasy within like one day and with this I can actually lather, like My entire hair with it I always start with conditioner at the roots. So I actually kind of take my hair and I'll have conditioner in my hand, and I swirl it in the roots and then I work it up and then I'll grab a little bit more to kind of work it through the rest of my hair - and this Is the only conditioner that I've actually been able to put into my roots and like the top part of my hair, without it feeling heavy and weight down and just like dry or not dry, but like too conditioned and greasy? Ultimately, so I just like my basic shower routine, I wash my hair every other day, but I have actually washed my hair every single day, sometimes just from going to the gym and whatever, and this does not dry out at all, which is something I struggled with, Because just my hair type is like really prone to being really frizzy and dry. Well, I will just mention that, like my hair right now is in its natural air, dried State. So I'm a few watched, my last video, my hair was basically you're drying during that video, so that is my basic routine. Now I don't often do anything to my hair like I'll, just leave it natural, but if I'm doing an event or want to look a little bit more put together, you guys have seen me with curly hair a lot so like curled hair. So if I am going to use any heat on my hair at all, when it is wet, I've been putting in this living proof perfect, hair day five and one styling treatment, and I got this off of Amazon. I'M pretty sure - and I take the tiniest tiniest amount, so maybe just like a pea-sized amount and again I work it into kind of the bottom of my hair and then I'll slowly work it up, but I do find, even if I put this like in my Roots at all, which I have been doing just to avoid frizz, because it's been really dry. No, it's winter, I doesn't leave my hair feeling too heavy. It also is pretty scented, but I don't mind the scent and I do find that it kind of goes away. After a little bit of time, but it is kind of like a nice scent to have in there, so those are that's pretty much it. Those are like the three products that I use. There was a phase there was that, where I was really into dry shampoo and to be totally honest, it was because of the shampoo conditioner that I was using and consciously my hair would just get greasy right away, and I didn't want to wash my hair every Single day, but I even found like you know, with second day hair, it was just way too greasy to do anything with, and I felt very self-conscious about it. So I was using a lot of dry shampoo, but I've not been using any dry shampoo. Since I switched to this brand of shampoo conditioner, so just some other hair things that I'll mention, I always brush my hair right before I shower, and then I don't brush my hair after because I have a hair type where, if I do brush it after it, Basically, just goes with like frizz is out, so I tend to just comb through my hair with, like I don't use a brush either. I use a comb comb through my hair shower and then just let it do its thing, and I find that works for me, because if I do attempt to brush my hair at all after it's already dried, it's just like game over like it's just a huge Frizz ball and then I do have to style it so yeah. That is pretty much all I use for hair care. Okay. I know this looks ridiculous, but this is what I used to use when I was making my own shampoo. So I will do a full DIY on making your own shampoo conditioner, but I do just want to quickly mention this, because if you are curious to use make your own stuff, so this is Coco glucoside. It is a very, very gentle surfactant. It is the surfactant that I use in my cleanser, but this is also what I would use to basically make my own shampoo, and so I would use about 50 %, this 40 % water a little bit of glycerin and a couple other things in there, such As preservatives plant extracts etc, and I will do a full DIY on it, but I just wanted to mention if you want to make the most basic shampoo ever I know a lot of people have tried making shampoo with castile soap. It is the wrong type of surfactant, for your hair. Basically damaged, hair has a negative charge and dry hair has a negative charge, and so you want to use something that is not charged at all to wash your hair. So this is a non ionic surfactant. It is not charged at all and then basically for conditioner. It usually has a positive charge, so it has cut ions in it and then it gets attracted to damaged and dry hair. And so that's why it kind of sticks to those areas more and can help condition, but I will go through the entire sciences out in a different video. I just wanted to mention, if you want to make your own shampoo, don't use anything like castile soap, but you could pick up Coco glucoside. This is from New Directions. Aromatics I buy it in like this big thing like this and then basically, you can just use an old shampoo bottle. Put some in I've honestly used this like on its own. It'S pretty strong if you use it on its own, so you want to make sure that you lather it up in your hands before you lather it onto your hair. But if you want to be just kind of like really cheap and basic DIY, Coco glucoside is the surfactant that I use when I was making my shampoo. But again I will go into a full DIY on that very shortly, alright, and that is it. If you have any more questions about hair care at all or any questions about anything else, leave them in the comments below you can also send me a DM on instagram at kinda Whitnall, and thank you guys so much for watching, and I will see you in My next video

KawaiiKittyMoo 42: Really looking forward to a DIY series! ❤️

clairdecat7: Looking forward to a DIY series! I'm trying to be more minimalist, and I already make all my own cleaning supplies and have tried out shampoo and conditioner bars in an effort to not buy store shampoo, so I'm excited!

luminalgenie: Can’t wait for the DIY series! I genuinely love your content

Anelis Sanchez: Really excited about making my own shampoo/hair care, can’t wait for your series!☺️ If it’s not too much to ask, could you please include a reference for color treated/damaged hair?

Angelina H: I know exactly what motion you’re talking about. If I wash my body with a bar of soap that’s exactly how I describe how it makes my skin feel lol

Leslie Milne: As a hairdresser, I’d LOVE to hear info on DIY shampoo and conditioner! I despise sulfates and limit sulfates to once a week at the most. I typically just condition the other days.

redburningfires: I have the same hair type and can't wait for the DIY video. I'm using Shea Moisture products, everything else I've tried strips and breaks my hair. At 51, I want to keep every hair I possibly can!

Debra Hernandez: I say "squeaky clean." Also, I would LOVE some DIY. I am a big DIY-er and watch your videos to learn the science behind skin care. One thing I've been trying to learn about is ingredients that shouldn't be mixed and pH ranges so I can fine tune my skin care. I started this all because I was a poor student single mom back in college who couldn't afford a lotion that worked for my very dry skin.

Chezgirl Rose: I’m a bit late watching this video Kenna (talk about busy life ) I’m so looking forward you doing a DIY series ... learning how to make things, especially beauty products is right up my alley ... thank you Kenna. #sciencebabe right here

Brittany: So excited for the DIY series!

em: My favourite shampoo and conditioner is the Rahua classic line (the palo santo one), but its hella expensive. For a drugstore option I love Hask, especially the Cactus Water range

Lulu Love: I have a similar hair texture too! I’m never happy with any hair products I try either and I’ve tried drugstore and high end. When I colored my hair I was using Paul Mitchell but I don’t see a difference. I randomly bought the OGX biotin & collagen thick & full shampoo in the purple bottle and this is the best one I’ve used in a while. And it’s sulfate free so it’s great for colored hair. Another product I really like is the doo groo mega long deep conditioner I randomly bought that too and it smells amazing and my hair is so soft after.I don’t know how beneficial they are but I notice a difference when using them.

Anna Tria: I hope you include a recipe for an anti-dandruff shampoo in your DIY video. Great content as always!

Michelle Panopoulos: I would love for you to do a review of Monat ingredients. I can’t wait to see the DIY series! ❤️

Shyan Atkins: I only ever make it about 1 minute into your videos and I already thumbs up. I love your channel! I can't wait to see your DIY!

SE T: I have also have fine hair but a lot of it. I use the French brand Klorane - the blue one is phenomenal for volume but also very gentle. It’s got flax fibres in it which I thought was a gimmick but it works without any weight or silicone feel.

KayJhoselin: Loving your haircare routine

Danielle Li: You are a smart and practical YouTuber. I like it when you talk about charges. It makes a big difference. I develop formulation for prescription drugs at work. I sometimes select the chelation excipients based on the charge of drug molecules to help drug solubilized in an IV solution.

Kirsten Smith: You are my life goals! I can't wait for your diy projects

Laura B: Very cool! Could you talk about solid shampoo bars? Are they still ok for the hair? Thanks so much for sharing good info all the time.

amor fati: I don’t necessarily like the squeaky clean feeling but when I use shampoos that don’t get my hair that clean I’ve noticed it tends to weigh it down. Also my hair will get greasier faster if I don’t have that squeaky clean feeling. I just try to counter it by using a good conditioner right after to make it smooth again

nursebunny: I love living libations sea buckthorn shampoo and conditioner. My hair looks and feels healthier but I have to shampoo it at least twice to remove the excess oils in my scalp.

Julia B.: as a biochemist student I gotta say... I'm also waiting for the DIY series <3 lol

cassy rooke: You should do a review on monet ingredients they make some pretty wild claims it would be interesting to know your opinion

Anna Gayle: Hey Kenna, would you be willing to/able to review the ingredients and overall quality of the Simple brand sensitive skin experts line? I am studying biology and biochemistry so I know most of the ingredients but I want your opinion on them and I know a lot of other people use the brand, specifically the Micellar cleansing water! Thanks :)

Mirela Georgieva: Hello. I am using my home made shampoo which includes boiled water from green tea leaves, xanthan gum, aloe vera gel, coco-glucoside, a bit of essential oil, apple cider viniger and olive oil. I use pH strips to make sure that the shampoo is between 4.4-5.5. So far I have good results with my product. Please let me know if everything listed is good or I should change something, or I can add something as well. Thank you!

Alix: Sounds like you have exactly the same hair type as me, always sounds weird saying you have thick but fine hair Haha. Definitely understand the getting greasy after a day of conditioner on the roots, keen to try these out!

Irina DiGiovanni: I have fine hair too so thank you for this video. <3

em: Can't wait for the DIY video!

B P: Shampoo is best scalp to ends while conditioner doesn't need to touch the scalp at all, it's meant for mid length to ends. If u have fine hair or oily hair the conditioner doesn't need to be one that's heavy with oils.. that includes after shower conditioning. There's the main tip for products from my cosmetology schooling

anemone mnemone: im just tuning into this vid and it appears this line has been discontinued by aromatica in the time since. have they released a new version under a different name, or even a comparable in function. i think our hair style is rather similar so i thinking this’d be a good bet. thx!

Kaitlynn Guadagno: I call the stripped feeling "squeaky clean" I don't like it either. Your hair shouldnt be squeaky

Snudder. s.m.l.: Great video Looking forward to learn about the positive and negative charch of the hair, sorry my English is not so good, still learning Hugs from Denmark

04beni04: I could be wrong about this -- someone correct me if I am -- but I think that tugging feeling on your hair is called slip. Or rather, lack of. As in: "when I used this shampoo/conditioner/whatever and rinsed it out, I had wonderful slip". It affects how easily you can comb through your hair, and (I think) the inference is that you're less likely to damage your hair if a product leaves a decent amount of it.

Aliza Jayne: I have the same hair strand type, hair length, and hair texture (with the slight wave), and I totally know what you mean with when it gets super frizzy at the ends if you brush it. I don’t style my hair, with products or heat, butttttt I do brush it when it’s dry sometimes, and when I do I just mist some water with a cheap refillable spray bottle onto my ends, scrunch the ends with my hands once and head out the door. It helps reduce the frizz so much! I highly suggest it! My hair (so I assume yours as well) can get tangled near the ends quite easily, especially if it blows in the wind from driving! And I hate when it gets all tangled so I’ve gotta brush it! Love your videos and you are looking radiant, as always!

Becky C.: I can’t stand when I shampoo leaves my hair with no slip. I’ll look for these!

jcjccmz: I am in desperate need for how to make my own shampoo because almost all of the ones in the store contain fragrances which irritate my neck. And it bums me out that the more expensive the shampoo, the more fragrant it is! I tried the Free & Clear shampoo which is supposedly sulfate free but stripped my hair of color and moisture and made my hair feel like wet straw. I can only use it wash my yoga mat.

Emilie Valcke: Hey! Could you do a video about shampoo/conditioner/masks for bleached or dyed hair? I hear a lot of good things about olaplex or redkin products, but wonder if they actually 'heal' your hair or if it's more like a deep conditioner.

Eliza Rose: Avoiding sulfates will usually get rid of that stripped feeling

Ariana: Can you review and speak on the Briogeo hair products? I really enjoy their shampoos and hair masks but I find them to be so pricey for me.

René Shelly: Could you give your opinion on shampoo bars ? I have transitioned to a shampoo bar and I’m very happy with it. I have seb derm and have found a bar that works for me, BUT that being said, I live in a place that has very hard water, and due to my scalp condition I do feel the need of doing an acv rinse once a week.... And does feel heavy from time to time. I still don’t quite understand the ph balance part from a solid bar, and whether or not it reacts with the minerals in hard water. I know you did a review on lush, but I wanted to hear more about them (solid bars) from companies that don’t use sulphates (specifically SLS etc). Thanks!!!

Bianca Huber: You should try out Rocky Mountain soap co ❤️

Rae: Yes, I'm also very excited for a video on diy shampoo and conditioner

Alexa Demeyere: Hi Kenna, are you able to do a review on Monat hair products? I have a lot of friends who are involved with the company and rave about their products, but I am skeptical and would love for you to break down the ingredients and give us your thoughts.

This is Alice: My hair feels so dead and dry no matter. Its not colored or bleached and I dont even wash it often. Yours look very nice! Would love a diy video

SpicyPisces: Could you please do a brand review on drunk elephant and glam glow x

Sunny Yoda: Can you do one on OGX shampoo? I have been using it over 2 yrs and I am not sure if it is the shampoo or genetic that is causing my hair thinning

thevioletrevolution: Would decyl glucoside work as well?

ASMR Vibes: Will you pls make a video about hyper pigmentation

Reckless_Kitten: What are your thoughts on shampoo bars?

Katelynn Quain: Kenna you should consider trying to remove your skincare line from your description so new people randomly watching videos won’t think it’s currently yours

Corisa Smith: I have a more oily scalp, do you think the shampoo would be okay still? I know you were saying it doesn’t strip your hair of oils, which is good, I just wonder if it mean my hair would be greasy like right away.

Daniella Rasik: Can you do an ingredient review on the Florence by Mills skincare?

Yvonne D: I have a similar hair type as you, fine but I have a lot of it and it's frizzy. Can you recommend shampoo and conditioner from the drugstore or Ulta???? I am currently trying to use up my Biolage but i know it's not the best because it has sulfates. And my hair gets oily right away if I let it air dry.

mika K: Why does some cream makeup product change consistency when moved in the pan? For example, in the BeautyNews channel tried to repress a cream highlighter and it didn’t reset

potato: I've seen some influencers riding on this trend of taking a fresh Aloe Vera plant leaf and using it as hair conditioner, or face moisturizer. I was reminded of your sentiment that these all-natural solutions aren't necessarily formulated by dermatologists or companies specifically for our skin, so we might not be getting all the benefits possible with it. Yay for learning! P.S. My own personal preference for Aloe Vera gels are the ones from The Face Shop and Nature Republic, as their first ingredient listed is leaf *extract*, and not *juice* which can come from concentrate. :P

thatmatchagirl ASMR: Kenna do you mean squeaky? That feeling when it’s stripped.. I find that’s how I would describe it. Dry, stripped, and squeaky

Jakub: When i saw the title of video I clicked right away. Even though Im bald lol

Alice dsouza: informative video Thanks for your sincere efforts

ruby lily: Have you ever tried New Wash from Hairstory?

Katherine Hayes: My hair is very fine, but I have a ton of it! Plus, my hairtype is Normal. That's the ONLY thing Normal on my body!!

Alice dsouza: I have thick unruly hair and I can never let my hair open (always have to tie a bun) I don't want to cut my hair and so I am thinking of using hair spray but heard quite a negative opinions about it including hair spray causes grey hair and it is damaging... Is there any truth to it???

clairdecat7: That shampoo sounds like it'd work awesome for me, but yah girl is in college, I can't afford that shit yet :((

nevels: Can you tell me what you are using now? Seems like these products are not available anymore. Thanks!

SE T: Welcome back!!

JustMeXO: I hate that motion, after washing your hair. It feels stripped its awful!!

MLMLM Boss Babe: Sorry, i only buy MLM products. Thanks tho

Chris Z: Kenna: I HAVE A LOT OF HAIR triggered....

J N: You're only supposed to put conditioner mid shaft-ends! Not at your roots!

Marleen G.: I have to use a harsh sulfate. I have SD (seborrheic dermatitis), and so I need a harsh cleanser and I am so glad that not every brand jumped on the bandwagon of sulfate-mild or sulfate-free because otherwise I would be using my medicated shampoo all the time and it is darn expensive at 14.25 euro for 100ml (Nizoral 2%). I have hair over my bum (classic length) and so I would go through that bottle in no-time. 4 uses (scalp only) and it would be gone. I wash my hair once a week and so I really need to dig in there (no worries I gently massage).
