On the top of our head, directly underneath the skin and subcutaneous tissues, is a sheet of connective tissue called the galea aponeurotica.

Galea is latin for helmet, which makes sense when you consider this thing’s shape and location on the head.

Now on the front, rear and sides, the galea is connected to various muscles.

These are constantly exerting pressure by compressing and stretching it.

Which results in chronic tension.

The galea is firmly bound to the overlying skin by a rigid subcutaneous layer.

So think of a sandwich with multiple layers. Skin at the top, subcutaneous layer underneath, and galea at the bottom.

Due to the firmness of the subcutaneous layer, any tension in the galea is transmitted to the overlying scalp skin, and the whole thing acts as a single unit.

There are two big clues that the galea is related to hair loss.

Firstly, hair loss in men is restricted to parts of the head overlying the galea.

On the sides and back of the head that are covered with muscle, the so-called occipital and temporal regions, there is no hair loss, even in advanced baldness.

The second major clue is the correspondence between the degree of tension across the galea, and the pattern in which hair loss develops.

Take a look at these two graphics.

On the left you see the severity of tension in the galea.

Lighter blue areas are those with the highest tension.

On the right is the Norwood map of the head, which shows the typical progression of hair loss.

There is an astonishing correlation between the two.

Areas with the highest tension are the first to lose hair, followed by those with intermediate tension.

Areas with the least tension are the last to go.

The mathematical probability of this being due to chance is less than 1 in 10000.

Tension in the galea is believed to result in a chronic, low-grade inflammation of the overlying skin.

In response to this inflammation, the scalp upregulates its expression of DHT.

In turn, the DHT induces a protein called transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-β1).

This protein, along with the DHT, result in a chronic, gradual, structural reshaping of the scalp tissue.

The most important characteristics of this reshaping being fibrosis.

By fibrosis, we refer to an excess deposition of collagen around the follicles.

Now collagen is a protein that forms one of the essential building blocks of human skin.

But when its production increases out of control, it begins to form what’s essentially microscopic scar tissue.

Scalp massage is one of three scientifically proven ways to reduce top tension, the other being Botox or the use of a grow bond. But the big question is this: does reducing scalp tension actually help to be grow? Hair, if you're, already using finasteride and minoxidil or if you're, taking a natural approach to regrow hair, is reducing scalp tension through scalp, massage going to have any additional benefits and if you've decided to participate in scalp massage. What exactly should you do in the first time of this video we're going to discuss scalp attentions bold in male pattern? Baldness in the second part of the video we're going to show you 14 simple, scalp, massage techniques, you can get started with most of these as soon as you finish, the video, regardless of whether you're using drugs, all your taking a natural approach to combat hair loss. Scalp massages can be beneficial, let's get straight into it. On the top of our head directly. Underneath the skin and subcutaneous tissues is a sheet of connective tissue called the Galea upon errotica gallier is Latin for helmet, which makes sense when you consider this thing, shape and location on the head. Now on the front where insides the Galea is connected to various muscles. These are constantly exerting pressure by compressing and stretching it which results in chronic tension. The Dalio is firmly bound to the overlying skin by a rigid, subcutaneous layer, so think of a sandwich with multiple layers skin at the top subcutaneous layer underneath and galia at the bottom. Due to the firmness of the subcutaneous layer, any tension in the Galea is transmitted to the overlying scalp skin and the whole thing acts as a single unit. There were two big clues that the Galea is related to hair loss. Firstly, hair loss in men is restricted to parts of the head, overlying, the Galea, on the sides and back of the head that are covered with muscle, the so called occipital and temporal regions. There is no hair loss, even in advanced baldness. The second major clue is the correspondence between the degree of tension, the Galea and the pattern in which hairless develops. Take a look at these two graphics. On the left hand, side you can see the severity of tension in the Galea, lighter blue areas are those with the highest tension on the right is the norwood map of the head, which shows the typical progression of hair loss. There is an astonishing correlation between the two areas, with the highest tension of the first to lose hair, followed by those with intermediate entry areas with the least tension or the last to go now. The mathematical probability of this being due to chance is less than one. In 10,000, tension in the Galea is believed to result in a chronic low-grade inflammation of the overlying skin. In response to this inflammation, the scalp up regulates its expression of DHT. In turn, the DHT induces a protein called transforming growth factor beta 1 or tgf-beta one. This protein, along with the DHT results in a chronic, gradual structural reshaping of this scalp tissue, the most important characteristics of this reshaping being fibrosis by fibrosis. We refer to an excess deposition of collagen around the follicles. Now collagen is a protein that forms one of the essential building blocks of human skin, but when its production increases out of control, it begins to form what's essentially a microscopic scar tissue and this tissue increasingly occupies more and more of the space between the follicles, which Leads to a dramatic effect, it restricts the vessels that supply blood to the scalp, resulting in a chronic condition of low oxygen levels, called hypoxia without a sufficient supply of blood. The follicles gradually wither away and die. This process is called hair, follicle miniaturization, and it is the hallmark of baldness by focusing only on DHT. Most treatment methods only offer a superficial approach to hair loss because, while DHT is certainly involved, it is just one piece of a much larger picture. The root cause of hair loss that which mediates the damaging effects of DHT on the follicles, is attention and, predictably, if you take the superficial approach and systematically block DHT with harsh medications like finasteride and doot asteroid, you risk a lot more than just your hair. You'Re. Blocking DHT in your entire system, when it's just the top of the scalp, that is the problem. It'S a little bit like using a bulldozer to squash an insect excessive with the potential for serious unintended consequences. So let's talk about the rational way to treat hair loss and I'm talking about addressing the problem at the root, and this involves reducing the tension in the scalp, thereby putting an end to the chronic inflammation and fibrosis and the way to relieve scalp tension is the Same way as with any other body part, you guessed it massage, as you would expect mechanically offloading. Scalp tension has been shown to produce some pretty astounding results like in these before-and-after photos of men with severe baldness in another study, nearly 70 % of men who massage their own scalps, reported that they had either stabilized their hair loss or be grown new hair. But I want to show you the results of a more recent study on the effects of scalp massage. This was done with healthy men who didn't suffer from any hair loss whatsoever, and it found that even in healthy men, a few minutes of daily scalp massagers were enough to increase the diameter of the hair shaft and when you increase the diameter of the hair shaft. This translates to thicker hair and increased scalp coverage. What'S more, the researchers found that the mechanical effects of stretching is sufficient to alter the genetic expression of dermal papilla cells. These cells sit at the base of the follicle and regulate the hair cycle in response to stretching the dermal papilla cells, increased the expression of genes controlling the hair cycle and decrease the expression of genes related to hair loss. This is called a mecha, no transduction. The conversion of mechanical stimulation to electrochemical signals in the follicles that can ultimately even alter the genetic expression. The beauty of scalp massagers is that there were various ways to achieve the same effect. We'Re now going to share 14 simple ways that you can start doing: scalp massage technique, one. The first thing that we're going to look at is the use of a bamboo brush which acts as a scalp invigorated in the description below I've linked to the hair guard. Bamboo brush bamboo brushes work extremely well, because you can boost blood flow and also reduce scalp tension. At the same time, you want to start by brushing the scalp all over to stimulate blood flow, and then you want to go around the scalp and move in a back and forth motion to help relieve scalp tension. Doing this for five to ten minutes each day should be adequate. Now another option is a Brava Shampoo brush. This is a very simple inexpensive device and, if used consistently, it can give great results. We have already made a video about using a shampoo brush, but it can be a great way to hit two birds with one stone. You can reduce scalp tension and stimulate blood flow. At the same time, we recommend doing the scalp massage with the brush before you wet your hair. In the shower doing, scalp massage with wet hair can actually damage the hair. Then, once you've done that you can use the soft bristles on the brush to gently clean. Your hair, whilst also stimulating blood flow in the scalp now, as mentioned we've already done a video on this, and we also talked about some of the best practices for using a shampoo brush. So I'll link that video to you guys in the description. Now, if you don't want to use any sort of equipment, you can use some simple techniques to massage your scalp with your hands doing manual. Massage is quite hard work and your arms do get tired, but the results can be fantastic in the simplest, massage, take both hands and place them on either side of your scalp. You want to grip the scalp hard and then move your hands around in a circular motion move back and forward then round and round. You want to create different creases throughout the scalp, so you can move one hand while keeping the other fixed and then move the other and then vice at first. So again the aim is to move and loosen the entire scalp using a similar technique. You can also place either hand in the front and back of the head, make sure to grip the scalp firmly to Void friction against the hair. After about a couple of minutes, you can move on to the next massage the so called squeeze in the one-handed squeeze. You can squeeze the skin together without creating friction on the skin. Just like a pinch pinch and hold for a couple of seconds along the entire head. Keep your opposing fingers one or two inches apart. If your scalp is tight, this might be hard in the beginning, but with time it will get easier. You want to do this all over your scalp, not only in the affected areas. You can do this massage for around one to two minutes. A variation of this is the two-handed squeeze, take both hands and then you squeeze the scalp together. Forming a crease in the skin. Keep the fingertips of the two hands two or three inches apart again. Do this all over the head, even in parts not affected by hair loss in the scalp shake you grasp the scalp with both hands and shake back and forth. You can do this vigorously feeling the scalp move around all over the cranium. This will help loosen up the entire scalp and increase blood flow. Your arms will probably tire pretty quickly, but with time you will find it easier and easier to do aim for 30 seconds to begin with and then increase as it gets easier on your arms. Next, let's move on to some exercises with the facial muscles: these are done without hands in the first exercise. You simply raise your eyebrows and then release keep raising and releasing the scalp comes forward and over time, you'll find it getting increasingly loose and the muscles become more powerful in a variation of this exercise. You raise the eyebrows, hold them for three seconds, so raise the eyebrows, hold them at the top for three seconds and then release - and you repeat this again and again: you can also exercise by lowering the eyebrows, so you simply frown release frown release. Another exercise involves you frowning holding for three seconds and then releasing so. Those are the four hands-free exercise and you want to be cycling through all four in succession so raising holding frowning holding, and you want to aim to do these exercise for a combined total of around two minutes in the more advanced massages. You basically put everything together. So you combine the massages with the exercise, you grip, the scalp, moving it back and forwards, whilst at the same time the eyebrow raises all the frowns and you can also incorporate the raise and hold, as well as the frown and the frown and hold simply try Gripping the scalp in different positions, as well as shaking it, whilst at the same time always doing the eyebrow exercises, and you could do this for around one to two minutes in another variation. You combine the various massages and exercises whilst also inverting the head. This is done to help increase blood flow to the scalp even further. Now, because scalp massage is quite hard work. Another option to believe scalp tension is to use a device known as a grow band because grow bands work in a similar way to scalp massage. You can expect very similar results. One user of a grow band posted this picture online and said after four months he'll or ceased along with a slight increase in density along the hairline. After month, 8, the lower renewal tempo showed substantial new hair growth and the hairline density continued to improve, along with the overall quality of the hair grow. Bands are physical devices that are very easy to use. Instead of manually massaging a scalp a grow band, inflates and deflates, which stretches out the scalp, this causes the top of the scalp to crease together, essentially massaging itself pumping blood back into the vertex of the scalp from using a globe and you'll feel less tension. More movement and more sensation in the vertex they're, very simple and enjoyable to use. There were no ongoing costs to investing in one, and there are no side effects. Many uses of grow bands try scalp massage first. They realize that their scalps are feeling looser and they may have already seen some hair growth once they are starting to enjoy the effects of reduce scar tension. They invest in grow bands to make things easier and less work on the arms groove on users often say it's much easier to keep consistent using a grow band compared to scalp. Massage and consistency is important, regardless of what her hair loss treatment you opt for. You'Ll probably want to do your own research first, but I'll link you guys to the hair guard grow band in the description below our grow. Bands come with a 365 day, money-back guarantee. So, if you're interested in trying for now click the link in the description to learn more - and we know that many of our viewers have invested in grow bands already. Jay_Bauman's_Stuntdouble: Don’t know if this is gonna help with thinning, but I definitely felt a slightly refreshing feeling in my scalp after massage. Kudos.

betamosquito: I don't know how effective this will be for thinning hair but these massage techniques completely murdered my tension headache

scoopaway1: I really believe this works. Been performing this technique with good results. By the way, do not use the massage brush. That will cause hair loss. Use your finger tips, and really pinch the scalp.

alyeska: <3 You verbalized my headache about not wanting to try finasteride and you provided a wonderful alternative. Much love

Mbbs Md: It's been 20 days I am doing scalp massage 10min per day... My hairs have become thicker though no new hairs are seen but hairloss is reduced a bit

Jason B: 6:47 where he starts talking about massage techniques

Doug Antelope: Great video! Thanks for sharing!

BART SANTOS: Thanks for the information and techniques.

Zatara: Thank you. Are you saying with the Shampoo brush to use it on dry hair? and only gently when hair is wet ?? Or are you saying with the bamboo brush to only use it on dry hair?

GESUND AUF GANZER LINIE: This is a brilliant and highly scietific explanation for the root of mpb....THANKS !

arnold eduardo plua trujillo: How many minutes a day do you do the exercises? Is it done every day or resting for a few days?

Just Observer: Excellent video....love your way of explaining and the accent :-)

Eng-in: God bless you guys.

Domenic Sandri: If increasing collagen in the scalp is bad then why does microneedling work, which increases collagen?

Patrick Copeland: Honestly I feel like I learned more about hair loss from this one video than the hours of sifting through hair restoration websites. Can’t imagine why lol

START CAMERA.. REVIEW🎬: Thank you for advice

G M: My scalp is insanely tight i tried the finger pinch and its impossible lol

Shaurya: Can Bad neck and head posture increase Tension too ?

Keef Zcobra: 6:55. Brilliant mate ✌ !

Anon Person: Since I started by PhD I started getting some patterned hairless and wrinkles in my forehead. Makes sense if it's caused by tension. I'm trying scalp massages and microneedling.

Kaizen Online PT: my growband seems to take longer to deflate than in the videos. ABout 15 seconds. is this normal?

StuIsArt: Would I be able to do this once per day for 20 mins and derma stamp once a week and still get results?

Rahul Bhattacharya: Very informative. Lots of love from India.

MT 6: There is no link in the description below for the bamboo hair brush or the grow band. The link just takes you to the website which doesn't contain either.

Marjannuel Saturnino: I tried to scalp massage, a lot of hair fell down

Oscar: serious question. what if I just spend 5 minutes hanging upside down every day instead? that surely brings a lot of blood to my scalp.

Dexter Boy: ⚠️⚠️⚠️ Let me advise myself and everybody to do all what he mentioned in the video except the " Frowning " steps because, with time you may develop wrinkles and appear older than you already are.....

Sam: @hairguard Does detumescence helps in hair regrowth?

DUAL 777: The cost of your growband is beyond astronomical. $300 for a simple "device" that probably costs no more than $10 to manufacture? You gotta be kidding me.

Lea Seberg Fladstad: How long can it take to make your hair grow longer and thicker by scalp massaging every time you washing the hair if it really works? But how can scalp massage make your hair grow longer and thicker if your hair is most controlled by the genes and least don't have any vitamin deficiency?

Chris: Stay Original Guys! Everyone has their own beauty. Blond, black, long, short whatever your style is ! You are beautiful the way you are ! We fill our minds every day with shitty things from people who want our money that it leads to brain wash a misery mood! F**k them man! Stay authentic! Use the time we have to make the most of it ! Cause who knows how many more we have !

Marcos Huertas: Hello Hairguard Team! Important question! If it is sculp tension that cause hair loss why the most woman don't have the same problems? Thank you!!!

Fayzaan Abdul sattar: The thing is male pattern hair loss is a natural process, so if you want to keep your hair you’ll have to swim against the tide. Like medical therapy

RAihan Ahmed: Weird quick question: Used the growband for 5 months then I had to move to Canada during the pandemic didn't use it for 2 months, now if I start again is it like starting from 0 or will the past 5 months count as progress?

Sebastian Skywalkin: can i use an electric massage scalp? does that work too?

Praveen kumar: Hey Everyone! I am going to try it for 30 days with some diet, Excersises and Meditation. Then I'll let you guys what is my Result..This is my first try after seeing a video. Btw it such a nice video compared to other videos so far

UD Mgr: Unlike most of the people who have dense hair at the side and back of the head and almost no hair hair at the top, my hair is not even dense at those back and side parts. I have really thin hair at the top, back and sides. My father also has the similar problem so i think its due to genetics. But still is there any way to grow dense hair??

No1 Cares: real question : does it really work because im experiencing hair fall

Tamir Yael: Can anyone please tell me what happens when you see results and you stop?all the results fade and then you have to do this for the rest of your life?

_________: 10:11 If you want permanent forehead lines, sure

Ft St: Hi!It seems kinda funny to hear i am like feeling a bit of warm and heavyness in scalp after massage is it ok?

Elliot Sinclair: I've been doing head massages (similar to the shampoo brush) for about a week now 20 mins a day and am noticing increased shedding every time I do them. Is this normal in the first few weeks?

sweetness583: If the hair follicles die then why doesn't the rest of the skin?

DP ki vines Dhruv Panchal: Nice video

Home Court Story: Can y’all please show Will’s diet?
