Well, hey guys in today's video I'm gon na be talking all about exfoliating, your scalp and how to take care of the skin on your scalp. A portion of today's video is sponsored by function of beauty. So thank you function of beauty. You can think of your scalp as the topsoil when it comes to healthy hair growth. We know that inflammatory diseases of the scalp, like seborrhoeic, dermatitis, eczema psoriasis. These can all actually end up affecting the hair density and hair growth through chronic inflammation. They can lead to both hair breakage as well as hair thinning. If you talk to a hair transplant surgeon, they will tell you that when it comes to transplanting hairs into the scalp, the outcome of the procedure is highly dependent on the health of the scalp. If a surgeon tries to transplant follicles to an area of the scalp, where there is a lot of sun damage, where there's a lot of inflammation, the follicles of the grafted hairs, they don't take as well and they're, not as they don't grow as thick or as Healthy, so that's very telling I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to protect the skin of your scalp from the Sun. Now your hair definitely affords you some sun protection. The easiest and probably best thing is to wear a hat while you're outdoors, depending on how much hair loss you have, you can get away with using ordinary, regular everyday face and body sunscreens to your scalp. You may find not these sunscreens get stuck on the hair and there are a variety of products sold on the market that are intended for sunscreen for the scalp, so list them down below cleansing. The scalp is very important to scalp health. The reason for this is that oils on the scalp they contribute to a buildup there's a little yeast that lives on our scalp that thrives in that oily surface and that yeast can drive inflammation in the skin when it gets too comfortable and that inflammation causes the Chronic skin condition dandruff, and it also can contribute to hair loss and another way to reduce that inflammation is consistent cleansing of the scalp through shampoo. How often should we be shampooing? That'S going to be dependent on how oily your scalp is, how active you are, and your hair type when you shampoo, regardless of how frequent you do it, you want to direct the lather to your scalp, don't focus it on the hair shaft. This is a common mistake that a lot of people make and it's really not necessary. Some of that shampoo lather is inevitably going to get on the hair. You don't need to a lather up the hair, just waste the shampoo and dries out your hair direct it to your scalp. That'S really where the cleansing needs to go, massaging it in, and gentle and a gentle circular fashion really will help lift up some built-up skin cells that can contribute to inflammation so, and you probably already have a good sense of how frequently your hair can tolerate shampooing And, of course, I encourage you to use a conditioner to at least the latter third of your hair strands. The reason for this is that just shampooing can be very hard on the hair itself and the conditioner kind of helps and reduces static and frizz, and will help your hair be more manageable. Also, you could choose to lather a little bit of the conditioner to the scalp. If you have a particularly dry scalp, this can help consider choosing a shampoo and conditioner that are free of fragrance. The reason for this is that fragrance, especially if you have a sensitive scalp, can be irritating and it also can be associated with the later development of allergic contact. Dermatitis choose shampoos and conditioners that are free of dyes. These two can be irritating on the scalp. Now I have a video that goes into detail about sulfates in shampoos. They are not the devil, however, sodium lauryl, sulfate and, to a certain extent, sodium laureth sulfate can be very drying on the scalp for people with scalp, sensitive scalps or dry scalp or eczema. On the scalp, this can cause more itching and discomfort and in those cases it's definitely a good idea to consider a sulfate free, shampoo function of beauty. It makes it really easy to customize a shampoo and conditioner for your hair type and with your preferences in mind, I have been using their products for well over a year now, and I cannot say enough good things about them. They make it so easy with my busy lifestyle, because the products are delivered right to my door and I absolutely adore the fact that you can have your name and print it on the bottle. I just think: that's the nicest touch you just go in and fill out there quick two-minute quiz that outlines your hair type, hair goals and personalized preference. You can choose the color and you know I avoid the dye and I avoid the fragrance. If you have a sensitive scalp, that's key function of beauty. Products are free of common allergens and irritants that you'll frequently find in hair care products, including sulfates, and several preservatives. They are 100 % vegan and cruelty-free for some extra pampering. You can also add on hair care products. I love the mask totally customizable doing the fragrance free dye free hair mouse from function of beauty. A few nights a week is an adjunct to their conditioner always leaves my hair super silky and shiny. If you guys are interested in trying out function of beauty, click the link in my description box and you can get 20 % off your order. So yeah I've really been happy with function of beauty. For my hair and my scalp, health has never been better and I can really see a difference. The other reason it's important to stick to some sort of consistent routine with shampooing. Is that if you don't, if you neglect shampooing the scalp that can and does contribute to dandruff a lot of people think that dandruff is a dry skin condition. It'S actually an oily skin condition that the skin responds to you by making those flakes. But at its root, it's it quite literally, it's an oily oily skin condition. Now what about exfoliating the scalp is this good? Is it something that we should be doing? It'S not gon na be right for everybody, but I will tell you that some people definitely benefit from using a scalp scrub people who don't shampoo more than once or twice a week, and you know that's about all their hair can handle and and also use a Lot of products like dry shampoos and mousses gels, they certainly can from using a scalp scrub to remove product buildup as well as buildup of dead skin cells and some of that oil. The combination of the dead skin cells, the excess oil and the products can be really irritating on the scalp lead to itch discomfort, but scrubs are not going to be good for everybody. People who should avoid scalp scrubs are people with a condition called psoriasis. So any kind of frictional force on the skin can actually elicit more psoriasis. It'S called the isomorphic response that psoriasis exhibits, so you should avoid scrubbing the scalp. If you have a diagnosis of psoriasis and it's tricky, because psoriasis can look like seborrhoeic dermatitis, aka dandruff, but they're, not the same thing, psoriasis is much different and you'll actually get more psoriasis. If you pick out or attempt to remove that scaly stuff, if you have eczema, it's not a good idea either. Eczema is due to an impaired skin barrier, so scrubbing away the barrier. There is not going to help eczema and the scalp those conditions that sign what options do you have? You can choose a physical exfoliant. These tend to have small particles that will help to abrade and remove built-up skin cells. They can be more irritating. Instead, I would encourage you to select a chemical exfoliant specifically with the active ingredient - salicylic acid. This is a phenomenal ingredient for caring for the health of your scalp. It helps you remove those built-up skin cells and it will help remove product build-up and it also is anti-inflammatory and it cuts down on oil. So if you've got a greasy scalp that you're not able to shampoo frequently, maybe because your hair itself doesn't tolerate it, you've got thin hair and a greasy scalp using a salicylic acid exfoliating product to the scalp can definitely help. Now, if you have an oily, scalp and thin hair, I mentioned that and you're you're looking for one of these products, another set of ingredients that you might want to look out for within the scallop scrub, our clays, specifically bentonite clay, kaylynn. The reason for this, as these clays can help absorb some of that excess oil. What about for people who have really dry scalps? What are good ingredients for those conditions? Actually, in this this situation, if you don't have dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis, you just have a dry, scalp and maybe dry hair as well. Consider using an oil to either the scalp and/or. The hair and specifically coconut oil, can help keep the hair shops hydrated and for people with ex mahse actually been shown to have some anti-inflammatory properties that help the eczema. So coconut oil is a good ingredient if you have scalp eczema and or maybe some dry hair. Another oil that's great for but the scalp and the hair is argan oil as well as jojoba oil. While oils can be useful to these people with dry, scalps and or eczema or dry hair. Brittle hair be aware that if you do have dandruff or seborrhoeic dermatitis oils or something not you want to avoid on the scalp, they can worsen the dandruff. But if you don't have that, if you have a dry scalp, that is definitely worth trying and very inexpensive. Something you can just massage into the scalp. I actually recommend massaging these into the scalp and/or hair. Before you get into the shower kind of as a precondition and being in the hot steamy shower, it can dry out your scalp more and having that oil on there before you step in kind of helps buffer against some of that. Some of that irritation from the hot water yeah. Those are my tips for scalp care. You guys, I hope this video was helpful. You know if you're really mindful of what it is, both your hair and scalp kind of need, and you build a simple set of steps into your bathing routine, to address your scalp. It'S going to pay off quite a bit, not only for your overall comfort level. In terms of scalp dryness irritation, but it's also gon na help, in the long run, with the health of your hair and hair growth by reducing build-up and inflammation in the scalp that actually can contribute to hair growth and lack thereof, hair growth. So I hope these tips were helpful. Thank you. Function of beauty for sponsoring a portion of today's video check the link in the description box. Banana Wanana8227: The horror of having a oily scalp but dry curly hair >_<

Grace P: I find it difficult to balance frequent scalp cleansing with keeping my thick, dry, curly hair manageable. Frequent shampooing is truly a nightmare for anyone with textured hair.

Michelle Duong: I always knew eczema leads to hair thinning but my doctors keep telling me I'm wrong. THANK YOU for finally making me not go insane. I swear most general practitioners are useless

제임스: I can't thank you enough for the scalp advice! I live in UK where it's really hard to see a dermatologist without waiting months. I've had severe scalp psoriasis my whole life and my doctor would literally tell me to sit in the sun for a while and see if it improves!!

Trish tells: Scalp exfoliation starts at 6:00 :)

TC: This educational could not have come at a better time! I have cancer and my head is now bald. I will follow your recommendations here for treating my head and then growing hair once chemo is done. Thank you Dr. Dray!! If you could put together a bald head care educational with cancer as the focus, I would be grateful—as will many others in the longer term. . It may not attract your general audience but it will be far reaching in the longer term and so helpful. Bald head care and care for regrowth once chemo is finished. ❤️

Uncle Charlie: Loyalty watching a video on hair care when your bald. Happy Tuesday! ☕️⭐️

Nicoli Brogini: Your hair looks amazing today! Since watching your previous video about dandruff being caused by the scalp being oily, not dry, my dandruff has reduced dramatically. Thank you! ❤

Mary Lawman: Happy Tuesday, Dr Dray! Great information. I assumed that scalp care was important and you confirmed it. I use a clarifying shampoo a few times a week but maybe I should be doing more. Thanks as always. I hope you have a restful evening.

Deborah M: Thank you, thank you! I ordered Function of Beauty using your code, and it saved my scalp and resolved my allergic sensitivities. I ordered my formula with the scalp treatment and no fragrance or dye. Life-changing! Every product I’m currently using on face, body, and hair, is from your videos ❤️

Ashley Rodriguez: I've been using a silicone scalp massaging/shampoo brush for my scalp for a couple of months during wash days (I just started using the new Aveeno Kefir shampoo on my hair & LOVE IT) and let me tell you it works & I have seen a huge difference in my naturally dry scalp AND I am losing less hair in the shower as well

Dilantro Cake: Thanks so much for your fun and informative videos! I watch almost everyday! As a male with shorter hair, do you recommend using a conditioner if you get the occasional scalp pimple?

B B: I bought function of beauty on your recommendation. They are on the expensive side, but I am very happy with them so far! I am not a brand snob by any means; what works works for each person and that's it. Just saying I feel good about FoB so far. I believe going fragrance free is helping tremendously. I saw someone mention Vanicream shampoo. Have you reviewed that before?

at2022t: I enjoyed watching this for your helpful tips. Would you be able to do a video on what supplements to include in your diet to delay the onset of gray hairs?

Staellie: You are like my cup of afternoon tea. I don’t know what I would do without you and your advice. Thank you Dr. Dray.

Julien Arbor: Thank you so much for the information about scalp scrubs and psoriasis. I have psoriasis that has spread to my scalp and the itching has been driving me crazy! I was looking at scalp scrubs but will definitely avoid them given your information.

Sunny girl 87: When I worked in an institutional setting, some of the clients had great scalp response to alternating dandruff products like Selsin Blue and Nizoral. And using a scalp brush. I don't care for the crappy scalp brushes I could find but I had good response to Nizoral and Head and Shoulders alternating with my regular shampoos. I've had build up all my life. Daily shampoo helped me avoid that build up. Yes, I have resorted to a shampoo/baking soda scrub. Loved Neutrogena SA clarifier in the past. Great suggestions. Interesting info on inflammation. Thanks Dr. Dray.

Tamara Pace: Great information, thank you! I'm wondering about the use of oils on a healthy scalp. Is it beneficial? As I age, my hair strand has become very fine. It was med to coarse up until I was about 50. I'm hoping this might help me at least maintain what I have now.

Brett: Thoughts on witch hazel? Been using it on my scalp for years to help with inflammation, itching, and dandruff. Works amazing

Gabby D: I started washing my hair daily and I’ve noticed some growth. Thank you!!!

Maeesha Wajid: Hi, Dr. Dray! First off, thanks so much for the detailed videos you put up. Your advice on all things skin has been very helpful. For someone such as myself who has an oily scalp (mostly concentrated on my crown) that requires washing every second day, has fine hair, and mild dandruff that worsens in the winter, should hair oils (such as coconut oil) be avoided? And would you recommend that I alternate between using the Neutrogena TSal and the Nizoral? Thanks in advance!

Elena N: Just started to watch this video and ordered spf for hair that was available in EU. Thanks I became sunscreen obsessed when just started to watch you! Just yesterday tried glycolic acid peeling on my scalp and I already feel benefit as less dandruff , will defenetely buy some salicylic acid exfoliator!

Ash G: hey! Im seeing some people who have dry hair issues, I do too but I also have dandruff. A hairdresser advised me to put oil on my ends before i got in the shower. I modified and put conditioner on my hair before and then shampooed/conditioned like normal. This helped balance things out so my ends were not dry and my scalp was not oily. Thanks for the great tips Dr Dray! Is almond oil okay to use on hair?

Amanda7008: Thank you for recommending a salicylic acid scrub for the scalp. I was using a lot of oil especially coconut oil on the scalp thinking it would help. I developed an itchy bumpy rash at the base of the scalp at the back at the neckline. I used a dry shampoo thinking it would absorb excess oil between shampoos. It got worse and irritated more when wet. I am going to try the salicylic scrub. Thank you so much again Dr Dray!

T Esco: Hi Dr. Dray, thank you for all this great information. I would love to hear your educated opinion on PPT and it's efficacy in diffuse female pattern hair loss. Thank you :)

Georgia Hamilton: Dr Dray, I want to thank you for making your videos and sharing your knowledge with us.

Lisa Nutini: I've been using Collective Wellbeing Citrus Salicylic Acid Scalp Conditioner. I'd rather have no fragrance but I think it's helping with my seborrheic dermatitis problem. It also seems to do a nice conditioning job on my super fine hair, too.

Nonya Mama: What do you recommend for aftercare when using a salicylic acid-based shampoo to try and prevent scaley scalp afterward? I tend to use a mix of tea tree and jojoba oil, but based on what you said, it could be worsening my scalp. Help! :)

Lu Ticino: Hi Dr. Dray, thanks again for such great content. Would you please make a video on hair dyes that are not damaging for the scalp and still impart good gray coverage? I think this kind of info is not very easy to find. Thank you!

Aditi Dey Poonam: Love your videos so much Dr. Dray! Always look forward to them. I had a question. What do you feel about double cleansing the scalp for people who use a lot of styling products on their hair? I tried it using my Hada Lado cleansing oil. It felt nice but I am not sure if it's psychological (and a waste of product) or if it really did some extra cleaning without drying out my hair. What do you think?

Alyna Achim: Just ordered my function of beauty Thank you Dr Dray I’ve had my eyes on it for a while but now that you recommend it, I trust it’s a good brand ❤️

cwm53: I just placed my customized order Dr. Andrea. I've been frustrated with my hair lately which is due to needing a cut and color refresh and not being able to find a shampoo and conditioner that perks up my fine, wavy hair. My hair is short so I opted for 16 oz. shampoo and 8 oz. conditioner. Loved the 20% savings. Thank you and hope all is well with you, your Mom, and Tybee.

Vicky Curtin: I'm really appreciating the hair and scalp care videos! Thank you :)

Janina Rue: Hi. Wanted to share a video topic recommendation. I use the oxygenetics foundation after I’ve applied my sunscreen and skincare. I was wondering what your thoughts are on the product. I see that it is sold in a lot of physicians offices. Thanks :)

Lorna K. Bailey: Oh my gosh, my scalp got sunburnt this past weekend and I was just lamenting to my husband how I wished there was a scalp sunscreen that was Dr.Dray approved. And here we are! Thank you so much.

Our Cozy Corner: Quick question! How could one discern between dry scalp and dandruff caused by oil overkill? As someone who is very prone to general issues with eczema(not sure if I have it on my scalp), I have noticed my scalp feeling dryer & itchier in my early 30s (not really before). I have long curly finely textured hair (only needs washing every 2-3 days) & I swear it’s thinning & these 2 issues have to be related. Which route should someone like me try?

Lovespitbulls: This past year my hair has really thinned out and become quite fragile. I've cut down on coloring but what regimen would best for me to do and how often? Thanks so much

jessigreer: I have long, naturally curly hair and because of my oily scalp I can only skip shampoo once, occasionally twice, per week. Contrary to all the advice for people with hair like mine, my hair is healthy and happy, I think because I keep my scalp healthy. Sulfates in my shampoo also keeps my scalp happy and the seb derm at bay. I do sometimes use foaming non-sulfate shampoos but I can’t rely on them for every shampoo. It’s a balancing act.

A.F. Cummins: Great informative video as always, Dr. Dray. Would love to see a video addressing the hair shaft as well, maybe including info on Olaplex. I hope you, Mom, and Tybee are all doing well!

Alexa HowManyHamsters?!: I've been doing tape in extensions and you can't really condition your scalp with them in, so since I've been getting dandruff I thought it was cuz I can condition it, but I might just be not washing my hair enough haha. Thank you, this video came at just the right time for me :D

Solargal: I bought Function of Beauty shampoo and conditioning rinse because you recommended it. It is fabulous. I had to buy the unscented version but it totally got rid of my Seborrheic Dermatitis on my scalp. My hair looks great too. Thank you!

Chelsey Scott: My scalp used to be oily until I did a course of isotretnoin last year. Now it remains quite dry. I find coconut oil is a bit too greasy/heavy for my fine hair but have enjoyed using jojoba. I still deal with irritating dryness, though, and have even been so desperate as to put lotion in my hair. I'm going to try applying the jojoba BEFORE I get in the shower rather than after. Thanks!

A Lana: I’m so happy that you did a video on function. I was always reluctant to use them . Now I can feel confident to go for

Losshe: For a cheaper fragrance free alternative, try the Attitude sensitive line. It's a Canadian brand, and Dr Dray has reviewed and loved their hand wash and shampoo. I've been using their products for over a year and just recently discovered they have a new fragrance free one that's also free of dyes. It's only $10 Canadian at our supermarkets and drug stores. You can buy them online at iHerb I think and probably many other online stores. Definitely the cheapest option for a SLS free, dye free and fragrance free shampoo and conditioner! Just make sure to get the fragrance free version (it says on the bottle)

Elvira Molinar: I absolutely love my function of beauty shampoo, conditioner and deep conditioner. Thank you dr dray for the recommendation and the discount! Love you!

Axel Hernandez: Thank you for this informative video always love watching when I have questions about anything skin health! You’re the best ❤️

TIba Hasan: I use S.A 2% for my scalp once a week or so, it really reduces oiliness

Persephone Black: I have so, so much hair breakage. No thinning (thank goodness) but I have so much hair and it's curly. I'm glad I found this video. I use sun protection hair sprays and leave ins. My hair near the scalp is oily.

kwi: It is a struggle. My scalp feels best when I wash it at least every other day, but that just makes the hair dye that is covering my hair fade even faster. Even with shampoos that claim to keep color, the gray roots tell me none of these work well.

Michelle idontwantto: Got the Function of Beauty: Shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, and leave in conditioner, ITS AMAZING AND WORTH EVERY SINGLE PENNY!!! As someone who has spent the last decade, after having babies, trying to get my hair to look at least decent, I am sincerely blown away by how healthy, smooth, and shiny my hair looks.

Van Schroeder: Hey Dr Dray! Thanks for inspiring me to wear sunscreen everyday! -I was just wondering how people who use mineral powders on top of sunscreen reapply liquid sunscreen. I have super oily skin and want to put mineral powder on top of my mineral sunscreens but im scared to invest because I don't know how I will be able to reapply the liquid sunscreen. I don't wear makeup so i've never had to think of this before. Thanks!

Kaitlyn Peeper: after watching all of her videos, i now look at ALL the ingredients in my beauty products and i thank you SO much!

Ella Shtein: I really needed this - my scalp has been awful since we started in quarantine for some reason... I've never seen it so bad. Thank you so much!

Tanya Nixonn: Dr. Dray, what type of scrub do you recommend for someone that has seborrheic dermatitis and hair thinning? I heard what to avoid but not what to use. Thank you.

Samiha Nova: I would love to hear about some hair product recommendations

o0Avalon0o: Thank you! I know you'll never see this because this is an old video, but you've helped me learn so much. I'm the kind of person that needs time to learn but I also need to know why something works or I won't waste money on it. Thx!

m dirose: I always enjoy your haircare videos. Thank you!

Maddie S: Great video, thanks for sharing Dr. Dray! Just wondering, have you tried or reviewed the ordinary hair peptide serum?

NavyBrat71: I love Function of Beauty products and I can tell you that they are well worth it. My hair has changed drastically and for the better and no more shedding.

Maria Fernanda Herrera: This video was great Dr. Dray, unfortunately I have a super sensitive, itchy scalp (no visible problems like redness or anything) and it gets dirty in a day´s time. Very difficult to find products that don´t make it worse.

Elena D: What do you think about using a baby shampoo for your hair? Is it sufficient? Also, I would be interested in your opinion about polyquaternim and about expensive haircare brands like kevin murphy and glynt that are recommended by hairstylists. Thank you so much for your informative videos and sorry about spelling mistakes

caroline torpy: Just purchased my shampoo and conditioner using your link! I have been so good to my skin, but my hair has been mostly neglected in terms of using shampoos that are gentle on the hair and scalp, free of weird and unnecessary ingredients, etc. I was alway good at applying a nice marula or argan oil to the ends and deep conditioning with nice treatments, but my shampoos have been questionable. So excited to try out my formula! Thank you, Dr. Dray, for sharing your thorough and clear knowledge on all things body care!

Asp Tuber: Well this was timely since I just today got a bottle of salicylate spirits. I must read up more on what a good vehicle and concentration might be for my troublesome scalp. I'm thinking of mixing it with some really simple conditioner. (My particular companion yeasts absolutely explode if I use ketoconazol, which is really weird, and in combination with not wanting to wash my hair more than absolutely necessary really irritating. )

Jyl Anais: Dr. Dray, thanks for all of your great content. It would be cool if you showed people how t make a rosemary infused (coconut/ argan/ jojoba) oil for hair health and growth.

Patrick Loiselle: I just got my unscented and dye-free shampoo and conditioner using your link, Dr. Dray. It saved me 10$. I was going to get the dry scalp as one of my choices but it had menthol so no thanks...wish they would change that. It was still tough to only pick the allotted amount. I could have gone with more haha The deep conditioner had color so I didn't go for it. You said that you like it... should someone with a bit of psoriasis avoid it? I didn't want to risk it.

Red Cupid Bow Lips: Thank you Dr Dray You are glowing by the day

Lowlos: Dr. Dray, I shed a lot of hair when my scalp is oily specially after wearing a beanie or hat throughout the day and sweating in it. Would you have any tips in helping me slow the shedding? I am experiencing MPB also.

S J: I LOVE FOB !!! 2 years now <3 I dont even use shampoo. I use a scalp Tx once a month, rinse w water daily and use the mask they make. I also use fermented rice water for my LOW porosity DRY hair :)

Melanie Dawn Smith: Thanks for this video! I'm wondering if you have had the chance to review the Nioxin Scalp Recovery kit for itchy flaky scalp? It's a 3 part system aimed at controlling dandruff. It's a bit expensive so I'm curious what your thoughts are.

The Black Diamond Gamerź: People with oily scalp +dry hairs like me ,here's some tips : shampoo only the scalp ,( apply necessary amount of shampoo only on ur scalp and keep it for 2-3 minutes before adding water to make foam ,, once ur done 2-3 min putting shampoo add a little water and massage ur hair ,rinse it of and most importantly use shampoo only once while doing this method . ( if ur using scalp scrubs ,firstly take a little shampoo and apply on wet hair ,gently massage it ,rinse it of , following by the scrubber then do the 2-3 min shampoo method .. apply nourishing conditioner on ur hair keep it for 5-7 min ,deep conditioning mask can be used once a week .( I personally love to pair scalp scrubber + hair mask .. I mean I use it in the same day once a week ) never skip hair serum , never skip heat protectant, hair oils r not much beneficial ,( if u have to apply then apply it 30min-2hours before taking shower , the hair oil does its job in this time not needed overnight leave on +skin concerns can be seen if the oil transform to ur skin while sleeping . ) never try diys ,, Stay healthy , stay safe , listen to ur body , eat ,sleep, behave well .. enjoy ur healthy hair , tnx me later

Amy: My skin is so much better thanks to these videos

Liza Scorps: Your skin as always GLOWING <3

Catherine Hezelgrave: Scalp care is so important thank you for the video much love Catherine xxxx

Latricia Mendoza: What a coincidence! It’s hair day for me. Just finished cleansing with Briogeo scalp revival. Now deep conditioning while I watch Happy safe Tuesday Everyone!

saving gift: I followed this sort of advice for years and developed folliculitis . A mixture of psoriasis and folliculitis. I stopped using heavy petroleum based oils on my scalp in favour of coconut oil because I was getting advice that natural oils are best and petroleum blocks pores i. The scalp .The condition worsened and became painful . Eventually I went on to the website of St Thomas Hospital London and their advice was to use salicylic acid coal tar shampoos and petroleum based pomades on my scalp . My scalp is back in recovery. Dermatologists usually berate woman of colour to stop using these heavy oils or greases on our scalps but we use these as a necessity. They do not cause hair loss but instead prevent folliculitis scalp acne and inflammation that can trigger hair loss. People really are different and require different treatment approaches.

Alyssa J: Can you talk more about dry scalp? All of my skin including my scalp is superrrr dry and yet I struggle with a flaky scalp. Oils and creams seem like the only things to help

nino bezhanishvili: Hi Dr. Dray, Can I use Paulas' Choice BHA exfoliant on my scalp? Or there are some specific salicylic products for the scalp?

Naghma M: This is what I needed to know. Thank you

Dauphne Cook: I wash my scalp with Himalayan pink salt and coconut oil. It’s amazing for my scalp and hair, not oily at all

elsie salas: Hello, my hair is dry and frizzy. I went to a dermatologist and she told me I had yeast on my scalp. I have never heard of this before. What products do you recommend?

ChiCityLady: Get a scalp massager for when you shampoo in the shower. It's great for people with thick hair and helps lift the hair so the shampoo, water, and product residue can be washed out by the water.

April Amado: Would it be best to use a salicylic acid facial cleanser or a salicylic acid shampoo on the scalp ? How often should we use these exfoliators on the scalp?

Emily Rosie: Hi Dr Dray, I’ve recently discovered your channel, and I’ve already learned a lot. I’m 23 and I’m insecure about a few things though. One of them is my hands. They look horribly aged and wrinkled. Do you have any tips for me? (I’ve been doing your hand care routine with the CeraVe Healing Ointment and the Aveeno Eczema Therapy.) But is there any way to combat aged hands? Another thing I’m insecure about is how I have these lines under my eyes. They don’t look like crow’s feet because they aren’t at the corner of my eyes. But they’re underneath my eyes if that makes sense. They make me feel really bad about myself. Also thank you for the dedication and time that you put into your channel. I really appreciate it!

Jae K: The timing of this video couldn’t be better! I was thinking of how I could take better care of my scalp last night while I was washing my hair. Thanks Dr. Dray! You are my favorite!

Alexandria Lawrence: Hey Dr. Dray first time caller, long time listener: are your exfoliation trips different for someone with emerging androgenic alopecia? Thanks! I really appreciate the opportunity to inform important decisions with your knowledge! AND! how you keep your jawline so beautifully chiseled? Please! Let me know.

Danielsgirl389: This was great advice, as usual! Thank you, Dr Dray Can you make a video about using Dr Bronner’s on hair?

MyKit M: What would be your recommendations for scalp psoriasis care? Especially hair loss due to scalp psoriasis?

Angie Elliott: I love function of beauty. Took the plunge because of you!! I was not disappointed! ❤❤❤

Danielle Frances Oporto: Hey doc! What are your thoughts on skincare youtubers promoting skipping morning cleansers? One of the rationale behind it is that if you don't strip your skin of the oils in the morning, it would help lessen oil production throughout the day. Is there any truth to this and would you recommend skipping morning cleansers and just using water to rinse and do the rest of the skin care for oily people?

Nicole Marcak: Could you please review the ReFresh dandruff shampoos and conditioners? Their active ingredient is salicylic acid and I feel like they have helped my dandruff but I am curious if you think the ingredients are good or bad, thank you! Love your videos!

Lisa Coletta: Hi from Canada, Dr Dray. Great video on scalp care!! Love your channel. I was looking into function of beauty a little while ago. The 20% clinched the deal! Thanks! I just ordered it from your link. Have a great week. Stay safe! See you again soon. Lisa

Baker: That headband looks so cute on you, Dr. Dray! Do you have a rec on a chemical scalp exfoliator? Thanks for all the amazing content!

s21972012145525: What about little scalp scrubbing tools? I think I saw these in dollar tree. Curious if it damages hair or scalp skin. But I think it would be helpful and relaxing if you have an itchy scalp

Twilit_Sheik: i got a scalp exfoliating scrub recently and omg it has been LIFE CHANGING for me at least, i have a flaky scalp and seeing dandruff in my hair has been one of the biggest insecurities throughout my whole life (i got bullied when i was a kid for it lol) now my scalp isnt as itchy or flaky anymore, exfoliating my scalp has worked WONDERS for me

empressm6: Can you recommend a 2% salicylic acid shampoo? Or would you recommend Function of Beauty for this as well?

Gale P: I was reading about Function of Beauty just the other day and, now seeing that it’s Dr Dray approved, I’m definitely trying it. Just ordered a few products through your link (dye and fragrance free, of course!) I’m so excited to try it. Thank you, Dr Dray! You’ve never steered me wrong. ❤️

Just Call Me Annie: I love my fragrance free function of beauty shampoo and conditioner! It took me a while to get used to it, but I am hooked now.
