Hi guys, I'm Tina tomato in this video I'll, be trying out castor oil for hair growth for 30 days. So there's a lot of stories out there about how castor oil promotes hair growth, people like to use it on their hair, their eyebrows and eyelashes to make them grow out faster or longer and thicker, and there's also claims about how castor oil is really good for Acne and also reduces wrinkles, so it's definitely very tempting to look at it as a panacea from nature and at the same time, it's also very inexpensive. So in this video I want to try it out for myself and also document it in a systematic way to show you guys what exactly happens when someone uses castor oil on their hair and scalp regularly. So, first off I'm going to talk about my hair situation. I think for Asian hair, my hair is definitely considered fine, but overall, my hair is pretty healthy, there's no split ends and overall integrity of my hair is good, but the problem that I have with my hair is that my scalp tends to be very dry and Oily, if that makes sense, so I think what happens is because the scalp is dry. It tries to over compensate by producing a lot of oil, so usually on the second day, my hair would be oily already, and it's also very flat. The hair that you're seeing right now is first day hair. I just watched it last night and already you can see, there's not much volume to it. So I do wish my hair is more voluminous and fuller and more lifted at the roots and also, I hope, to see it on my baby hairs around my hairline will become fuller and thicker, and my last wish is I'm trying to provoke these bangs right now. Right now, they're around my cheekbones, oh, and also in this video I'll, be using an 800 times magnifier to see what exactly is going on in the scalp and hair. The castor oil that I'm using is the jamaican black, castor oil. The dark color comes from roasting. The castor seed and it's also a blend of castor oil and coconut oil, which gives it a sweet scent. The consistency of the oil is definitely on the thicker side, but it's still fluid enough to be applied on the hair. I got this one from Shoppers. Drug Mart - and it was around 20 dollars I'll link this one, as well as a few other alternatives in the description down below to apply the castor oil. I just pumped out a generous amount along the crown of the head, concentrating in the areas near my hairline. Then using my fingers, i roughly distributed the oil to cover my scalp and lightly massaging it toward the end of the video I'll also show another technique that I learned from a Japanese TV show that is supposed to be more effective in reawakening. The blood flow in the scalp after that I use a wooden comb to distribute the oil more evenly on the scalp and also along the hair shaft. So the castor oil is very, very thick and it's almost like sticky and then you can also apply it like to your lashes, because it's supposed to stimulate your eyelash goals as well, and you can also apply to your brows and when it comes to a bedtime And just cover my pillow with a clean towel, and this was enough to prevent any transferring of the oil to my pettings and in the entire month of doing this, I have not observed any mess. Okay, guys now it's the morning after I apply the castor oil and, as you can see, my hair is thoroughly soaked in oil. It'S not as sticky as yesterday, but it's definitely very very oily. And now I'm just going to wash it out and the shampoo I'm using is just by henna childer. This one foams up really well - and I feel like this one - is just going to be easier for me to get an oil out of my hair because castor oil is kind of hard to rinse out. Hey guys. I just finished washing my hair, and this is immediately after washing it and I feel so fresh right now. I just used a Head & Shoulders. Shampoo. I used to around two to three dino-sized amount and I only shampooed once and everything was washed out very quickly. So that was pretty easy. I'Ll show you some close-ups. This is the hair. It'S pretty pretty clean right now, yeah, I'm feeling so good with this hair right now, oh my god, I shouldn't wash my hair more often, and now I'm just going to check out what the clean scalp looks like with this magnifier alright. So this is what clean scalp looks like and we can use this as a reference point. Okay, look at all that baby here, because my scalp definitely feels pretty clean right now. So in this footage you can see that there's a lot of shine or oiliness in both the hair and the scalp, and I don't think that's necessarily the oil since I just washed a hair, the shine is probably due to the extremely bright light that is emitted From the magnifier here, we're looking at the area near my hairline and the hair here is very fine, pretty sparse and there's a lot of new growth in this area, and each follicle only has one strand of hair. But as we move further back, the hair became a lot darker, thicker and also denser. Each follicle has at least two to three strands of hair. Occasionally I would also see some residual sebum at the root of the hair or on the scalp. Oh, what's that so I got this magnifier from Amazon just for fun and it was pretty inexpensive and, if you're interested in this I'll link it down below. For you hey guys, this is my second day hair. After alpine castor oil, it looks a little bit greasy because I just did like a 45 minute like pretty intense workout. So that's why it looks flatter and grease here than it needs to be so yeah after using it for the first time in a long time. I think my hair just feels cleaner for a longer period of time, so, like this morning, my hair felt very fresh and oiling at all. The hair doesn't look or feel as oily as the first time around so yeah tonight, I'm going to apply the castor oil again and then I'm just going to keep doing it every other day for four weeks. Hey guys, it's been a week since I last up there that you guys on the castor oil experiment, so I have been applying castor oil to my hair, pretty consistently every other day and right now, I'm about to apply it for the fourth time so yeah. That looks pretty oily right now, because I just came back from a pretty intense workout, but this morning, when I woke up my hair and actually felt really fresh and that almost never happens for my second day here so overall, I definitely feel like since starting to Use castor oil, my scalp doesn't produce as much oil throughout the day anymore, so I am ready to apply castor oil to my hair again. This is second day hair. Honestly, I don't think it's that oily, like it's definitely like, there's oils for sure, but for a second day, hair is not that bad, and I know that at least for my skin time and for my hair type, this castor oil does not break me out. I find this like feel really good, like this feels very relaxing, because, like putting oil in your hair, it's a very nourishing experience. A wooden comb is definitely recommended for this. I don't know how do you guys apply castor oil, because I'm assuming some people watching this video would already be very into this. So I'm curious to know how others apply castor oil, but this is working pretty well for me, yeah the site is very but because it's oily, the hair, is not going to like move around here and watch when I speed okay, so I'm ready to go to Bed now, yes, today is Monday and it's the first day of week 4. This is the technique from the Japanese show, so basically you're doing like you're doing like this, but you're reinforcing it. With your second hand, so that way you can apply a more pressure on the skill, because if you just apply it like this, there's not as much pressure, but if you kind of overlay it with your second hand, then you can apply double the pressure on each Spot so I was thinking, maybe we can take a look at the hairline, so anything like I've noticed these little hairs and I'm pretty sure, they're like recent growth. This is not really what I was targeting. I was mainly aiming for this area to grow. In more hey guys, today is February 19th, and this is going to be my last augmentation of my castor oil experiment. I just want my hair like two hours ago and I apply castor oil on my hair last night, and so this is a hair that I have after applying castor oil on it every other day for the past 30 days. The changes I've observed in my hair is number one it has grown longer. I think it's grown for maybe one inch so not like a dramatic difference. I think usually people's hair grow by an inch. So that's not really anything out of the ordinary and then for my bangs. I think it used to be like add the cheek bone and then now it's basically a little bit well. Actually it's me cheak already now in terms of the volume of my hair. I think I already have to compare this footage to the before footage in order to form an opinion. So looking at this you're, probably thinking wow, there's no difference at all in the thickness of the hair. But I think my hair in the after looks healthier and it just looks more lively in bouncier, and you can kind of tell that from the way that the hair falls and it seems like there's a healthier shine to it as well. Both of these footage were taken a few hours after I wash my hair and I didn't have any products nor have I done any styling to it. So I think my hair does feel stronger and especially my scalp feels healthier. I think in the past, before I apply castor oil on my scalp was always kind of itchy, and now, after applying castor oil, like my hair just feels very fresh, almost like I used one of those detoxifying shampoos that you're only supposed to use once a week. What'S different about it is that my hair, my scalp, doesn't feel stripped of oil. It just feels very balanced and I don't get itchy scalp anymore. My scalp is not irritated, I think that's the biggest benefit of castor oil, which is what it does for your scalp. It really like nourishes it. It just makes your scalp feel very balanced in this close-up. You can see that there seems to be more baby hairs along my hairline and the baby hairs. Also, look stronger and longer the rest of my hair also looks more lifted at the root, whereas before my hair was more limp and flat against the scalp in the extreme close-ups, there seems to be more growth below the hairline, but when it comes to the actual Hairline, I couldn't tell much of a difference as I was looking at the ends. I think my hair overall does feel more moisturized, because in the winter time my hair will just always produce a lot of static and that's very annoying. But now it doesn't seem to do that. Very much changes are very subtle, but I think there is like a health benefit like a functional benefits to using castor oil, which has healthier scalp and now moving forward. I think I'm still going to continue to use castor oil in my hair regularly at least maybe two times a week, but maybe not every other day, but yeah I think twice a week has definitely doable. I'M excited, like maybe 30 days, is not enough to see a huge difference, but if I can continue to do it, for I don't know three months or six months, maybe there will be a more significant difference so yeah, that's something I'm interested in exploring alright. Thank you guys so much for watching this video. If you're interested in my hair journey then feel free to subscribe to my channel and follow along, I will love it if you can share your experience with castor oil in a comment section below before I go. I also want to give a shout out to my friend Kyra button, who has a valuable YouTube channel on small space living. Her channel is one that I wish I had. If I were more focused. I know you guys love my interior content, so if you can't get enough of it from this channel, then head over to her channel and get your fix of interior design in a small space living see you next week,

Kar Aashika: I like how despite being a 12 minute video she's not wasting time talking nonsense. She's straight to the point. I love that.

fijonamijau: I always had thin hair and lacked eyebrows, but taking omega3 really helped me. After 2 months of taking it my eyebrows filled in and I started getting baby hair on my forhead line where I never had baby hair. I really reccommend it

Varna Hassan: Stop using head shoulders thats the problem Edit: would recommend Neutral Shampoo is with 0% perfume, 0% colouring, 0% parabens and pH skin neutral.

m kat: I used it twice a week on my hair line and I actually did see results after about a month and a half! Eventually cut back to once week. The baby hairs I always had at the front became longer. I also think it might be helping my curls (I always thought I had wavy hair but lately wondering if it was just unhealthy!). It DEFINITELY takes a lot to get straight castor oil out.

Shelly Stapp: Yes! Castor oil has helped both my hair and my eyelashes. On my hair and scalp sometimes I mix with sweet almond or coconut oil because castor oil is so thick and sticky. Also, I have used diluted apple cider vinegar to rinse the oil away prior to shampooing. Just an idea that works for me!

liamhain: I've been using castor oil for a few years, first on its own on my bald spots and now as a hair mask (castor oil+vitamin E+aloe vera gel). I've always had fine hair and not much of it but this helped me a lot. I also got rid of regular shampoos and switched to natural products. Currently, I use Indian hair powders and I feel it's really good for my hair/scalp.

Marneen Carter: Your before and after is impressive. It’s definitely longer, it’s fuller, and looks a bit denser on the hairline. Castor Oil is GREAT for so many things. Hair growth is guaranteed! I’m glad that it helped. Keep going

Michelle Mac Adam: It definitely made a difference! Thanks for spending so much of your free time to do this experiment for us. I’m going to share this video with my friend who has thinning hair.

Hidangmayum Aisolia Devi: I mixed castor oil with 2 tablespoons aloevera gel ,makes my hair more voluminous ,thicker and smoother

Tamara Morton: I think your hair definitely looks bouncier, has more body to it after the castor oil experiment. I agree with what everybody else is saying about head and shoulders shampoo. I researched it a long time ago and all I remember is that it's kind of brutal on the hair and scalp. I've been using castor oil on my eyelashes for about two months and I honestly can't tell any difference. I haven't wanted to use on my scalp because I don't really want to wash my hair anymore than every two days but after watching this video, I may start applying it once or twice a week. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Laura P: I can see the difference. Your hair looks much healthier! Very interesting experiment :)

Kiyomi Minoru: Hello Tina! New to your channel, and want to tell you I honestly see a dramatic difference! Your hair looks fuller, and longer. There is little volume but it’s there. I use castor oil as well! Due to a bad bleaching and horrible haircut I was going through a hard time with my hair and was trying everything to revive it and grow it back. When I got it cut it was neck length (1 in a half inches away from my shoulders) and now past my collar bone due to castor oils great benefits. I use sky organics castor oil, you can find it on amazon or Walmart. I also grew my eyebrows and eyelashes with the oil itself, it’s amazing for hair growth! Lovely video, Wish you the best with the hair goals you have in mind! :)

Miss M: Hi Tina, I really like your videos! You have a simple, realistic approach and the results are definitely there! I am looking forward to see what the castor oil will do for you in time. I have to try it out at some point too. All the best!

Saleha: Thank you so much for being so thorough and raw in your experiment and experience! I've experienced hair loss and have been looking for the most effective way to grow thicker hair.

Mythili Sista: As per Ayurveda, we use in our family Castor oil will be used during warm months and Coconut Oil in Cool months. We soak fenugreek seeds overnight and blend it next morning and apply it as a hair pack. We never use hair shampoos instead of that we wash our hair with Soapnuts(3) soaked overnight in a mug, just squeeze it you will see lather (natural shampoo). Finally, dry the wet hair with smoke coming from Sambrani incense (Benzoin Resin) in a Sambrani holder. That is why Indian women never experience any hair problems even in their old age.

megalopolis2015: If my hair grew an inch a month, I'd reach my goal length within six months--with a trim. I use a lot if natural stuff on my hair, including oils, biotin, and a satin sleep cap every night. There was a noticeable difference in just thirty days. Very cool.

jeanette reyes: Wow I can def see the difference in how your hair bounced more at the end of the 30 days. One thing I've heard about using oil for hair is that it's best absorbed into wet/damp hair since that is when the follicles are more open- wondering if you came across that info too in your research. Anyways, great video!

Heather Fogarty: Thanks for sharing! A healthy-feeling, balanced scalp sounds like a great win! A soft bristle brush (boar’s bristle or synthetic, whatever you prefer) is the best tool for spreading oil/natural sebum.

superdooper: I definitely see a difference in volume in the after! Thanks for doing this thorough review :) I’m afraid of getting pimples because I have before with castor oil, but not sure what type exactly it was

Lunar Noire: Hey girly! Make sure you’re wrapping your hair at night with a silk or satin scarf/bonnet or use a silk or satin pillow case if you don’t wanna do the whole scarf thing. If you choose a bonnet, flip it inside out so that your hair especially the hair line doesn’t get caught up in the elastic. I say scarf or bonnet cos it will keep all of the oil from getting on your face and everywhere else you don’t want it, and protect your tresses regardless of your hair texture. Ditch the head and shoulders shampoo that shampoo Destroyed my hair and find something more gentle. Aussie Moist is good and Creme of Nature and won’t break the bank. Garnier Fructis has good shampoos and conditioners too they won’t strip your hair. JBCO is a good oil but if you find it too heavy you can add something like Avocado oil which is also good for hair. If you haven’t already get your vitamin levels check especially for vitamin d and iron. You can also try things like MSM powder with vitamin c. MSM tends to thicken up hair in some ppl at least that’s been the experience I’ve had and my hair was very thin especially hairline. If you go the MSM route, start off slow and then build up to the max dosage to see how and if your body reacts. Have to get the inside right to get the maximum results on the outside. Helped me out a ton! I had traction alopecia from wearing extensions and lace fronts glued down for years and I gained back most of my edges/hairline. I know our hair textures are different, but some things cross over when it comes to hair care. There are probably many things from the natural hair community that you can try and it just might work. We’re sisters no matter what our ethnicity is and we can grow and learn from one another. Happy Hair journey sister ❤️

Lauren T.: Be careful with adding oils that have carbon chains between 11 and 24 to your scalp since it feeds malassezia. You could have a malassezia inbalance that is causing your scalp to have dandruff and thus inflame the cuticles that caused your hair to thin.

justine: do you recommend castor oil or coconut? i’ve used both but i don’t think i’m consistent enough to recognize any changes. but it’s always a good self care routine

Rabeea Anonymous: I love the fact she documents the whole experience so properly

i am nessuno: My hair was thinning due to stress before and just bad hair care in general. What really helped me was learning about my hair type, going from daily washes to twice a week or as needed, co-washing, or using as little shampoo as possible, deep conditioning, and using oils on my hair (I use argan oil). Now my hair is stronger and healthier. Of course hair fall is normal but not as excessive as before. Good luck on your hair journey!

Lekha P. Reddy: 9:56 there's a big difference in your hair volume and shine! A couple tips: Warm up the castor oil before use, and massage it through the ends of your hair. Use a different shampoo, head and shoulders sometimes creates dandruff (I use biolage!)

Sowandarya Mahendran: several people have mentioned it already but from my experience of using Head&shoulders for more than 2 years. It's one of the harshest and strongest shampoos out there. It dries out the scalp as a result and ditching that brand was one of the good things I did for my hair.

Robert Cohen: Based on the microscope images, it appears that you have seborrheic dermatitis along the front of your hair line. This can be observed by slight redness and sebum deposits. Conversely, the mid scalp appears white and healthy. The hairs appear finer at the frontal hairline, indicative that the sebum buildup might be leading to temporary hair fall. I would recommend getting a prescription for a 2% ketoconazole shampoo. The Head and Shoulders shampoo might be too drying leading to greater oil production. Some over the counter shampoos that work well for seborrheic dermatitis would be Tgel or Free and Clear shampoo 2% Pyrithione Zinc. Be careful with the use of castor oil. This could potentially lead to hair fall considering that you might have seborrheic dermatitis. The oil can clog up the follicles making it hard for the hair to grow. My recommendation to consult with a dermatologist so that you can have a proper treatment. Natural products can work for people who do not have any scalp conditions but be cautious.

B An: Thank you for sharing your hair journey with us. It was interesting seeing your scalp through the magnifier. I hope to get one soon as it is helpful in showing us whether we have a well moisturized scalp. Thanks again.

Paella OldTown: Tina! I think that the head and shoulders shampoo is the one causing your scalp to be very oily. Last year I had the same experience, I've always had a normal oiliness on my scalp and after using head and shoulders for a few months I started experiencing excessive oiliness and even dandruff problems. Every 1 day after washing my hair, it would get very oily and dirty, so I washed it almost every day. Then my mom recommended me using another shampoo and washing it every two days or so. She was totally right! Cleaning your hair every day causes it to produce more oil to balance the dryness. Also the head and shoulders shampoo is really aggressive to oily and sensitive scalps. I recommend to anyone who's having the same problems to use a different shampoo (according to your hair type) and not cleaning it every single day, only when you need to. Also, english is not my first language, hope it was clear anyways :)❤️

Prose Thorns: When you use castor oil on your eyelashes and eyebrows, it says it takes 6-8 weeks of daily application before you can really see a difference. So it could take a bit more time. I've also heard that it won't really multiply your hairs, but it will make it come in thicker and darker so it gives the impression of more hair. And stronger, so it can be more voluminous. I've used it sporadically (once a weekish) for a few months and some of my thinner spots in the front are growing back (I had a bad run-in with a haircare line for curly hair which burnt off my thinner hairs). I apply it hanging my head upside down so my hair shafts won't get in the way of the massage. Overall, it definitely works but it requires a bit of patience to see initial results. It does crazy stuff for my eyelashes though.

Susan Savard: I have long hair, and all my life it has only needed washing about every 6 days. I've been using the castor oil on my eyelashes & eyebrows, and had no results, but on my hair earlier this year I had been massaging the castor oil & aloe gel into my scalp a few hours before washing to stop hair loss. After a few months my hair got oily faster so I stopped doing it, & several months later my hair still has to be washed about every 4 days. While I was using it I had absolutely no hair in the drain though. Now I'm back to losing hair, but not as much. I may do it occasionally during the shedding season, but with not nearly as much as this girl is using.

VEANNE: omg we have the same hair type!! i’m so glad there’s someone else like me. i try not to shower so often because i believe i remove too much natural oil so my scalp produces even more. after i shower my scalp is dry, maybe even flaky around the hairline because it is dry. but the next day it’s very oily. i don’t know if i should shower more often or more less. i feel like my hair has gotten so much more thin and i have a receding hairline. i use head and shoulders as my shampoo, probably for 3 years now! i want to try castor oil but my hair is already oily :(

V L: I haven't tried castor oil for hair growth (I'm experimenting on my lash now). As for my hair I find that using a shampoo that suit you make a lot of difference. I used one that has no SLS, dea, silicone, lanolin but it contains organic oils which helps clean my scalp well. It doesn't itch my scalp. I wash my hair every day as I live in a hot & humid country plus I have pretty long hair. After some time using the shampoo I find my hair have been growing a lot thicker. Then I bought another brand of shampoo, used it then my scalp itched a little in some parts. I realised it could be the shampoo so I switched back to the previous brand, and true enough no itched. May be I'm sensitive to SLS, silicone, etc. So may be you may want to look into your shampoo ingredients too besides using castor oil.

miss luna: Great experiment! I really want to try it. Can you make an update now that it's been two months using it? Also, I love the magnifier addition in this documentation.

Muby Stubuff: Thanks SO MUCH for your experiment; I had been wanting to try it myself, for the same reasons (although my Caucasian hair is much thinner, more damaged with breakage all over -- though it is about the same shoulder length, perhaps a tad longer, and I am TONS older than you...) Also, I DO think it looks much healthier, more sheen and even fullness all over ..) Do you think regular organic, unrefined, cold-pressed NON black castor oil, without any coconut oil blend, just 100% pure, would be effective? Again, very good job! Have you kept up with it? Have you seen any more improvement along the hairline you were targeting?

Kathleen H.: It really helps on my lashes! I have super thin hair and lashes. The castor oil didn't make my lashes thicker or longer necessarily, just healthier so when I put on mascara they look so much better. I was experimenting with expensive serums over the years but it just wasn't worth the $. Castor oil wins! Thanks for this video. It has inspired me to try castor oil on the roots again!

Charlie: This quarantine has taken me to some *places* y’all! I’m not sure how I got here, but this video was mildly interesting and fairly educational, so I stayed. I like you, *Tina Tomato!*

Luann Putman: I add 3 drops of hexane free castor oil to my shampoo, so far it has really helped to thicken my hair, I also apply to my eye lashes, and have noticed a lot of growth.

Simone Schultz: The JBC oil treatment involves heat after application pre-cleanse, for 30 minutes. Can use process cap and traditional hair dryer or microwave heat cap after applying either overnight or just prior to shampooing

Hyuga Hinata: i used to had long hair until i cut it too short 4 months ago :,( . since 2 months i have always put castor oil in my hair twice a week and i have also seen huge differences. I had cut short thai-cut 4 months ago but now my hair has grown 3-4 inces longer . i noticed that putting castor oil can really help your hair to grow 2x faster. and yeah! i only used castor oil not even hair serum or conditioner to get this result :) i hope i can get my long hair back again . hehe.....

claudette lewis: Bayer rum, bergamot essence, placenta, almond oil, Jamaican castor oil and coconut oil mixed together does the magic as well. smells divine. Can even be used after blow drying. Just a drop rubbed in the palm if the hand gently stroking it in. Use it also as a treatment and massage scalp and hair for overnight by using at least 3 to four drops.

Helen Connolly: Yep gave castor oil a go and after only 1 go I have been delighted with how my hair feels and looks... great info

dauser4: After 30 days you will only see slight difference. Changes that are more visible apper after 3-4 months. I would love to see an update if you decides to keep using it. Jennifer Myers on yt has good content on castor oil if you're interested (she uses it on her eyelashes though).

Jayraj Vedak: For thick hair do the following: 1-use coconut oil (don't use castor oil in pure form dilute it with coconut oil) 2-at night braid your hairs. 3-add 1tea spoon mixture of fenugreek, mustard, carry leaves powder in your food every day.(mix all powders and USB 1teaspoon from it) 4-have health diet. *Follow this you will have thick, shiny and long hair.*

CarolB: Have you tried pairing your castor oil with a light oil? Like pumpkin seed or grape seed? Just another option to try. It helps spreading the oil out all over the scalp a bit easier. With a couple drops of peppermint or rosemary. I enjoy this mix maybe you will to ❤️ and then using a good clarifying shampoo to really cleanse the pores at least once or twice a month. But great video I’m happy it worked for

Christina Kassi: Hair only grows about 1/2 inch per month for the average person so if it grew a whole inch that’s incredible growth! It looks much fuller and with more volume.

Gaia: I use castor oil with coconut oil as the carrier oil. It improves the quality of the hair. But of course, for hair to grow faster, longer and better, eating right is equally important. I've started taking few supplements now. Hoping for better hair results now. Fingers crossed.

Ivy Lynn: Awesome, seeing the difference! You're hair looks thicker and shinier and your skin is looking good too! <3 Thank you for sharing!

Carla: It looks longer, healthier and fuller! And it has more movement! Also your hair grows about half an inch per month so that’s def big growth!

Svetlana: You can try to include collagen peptides in your daily routine, I’ve been using them for over 2 years and my hair looks and feels amazing, grows really fast, I have a lot more thicker hair and just overall healthier

Dania Ahmad: I have started to use castor oil on my lashes to makes them stronger and i see a difference in growth and strength after just 4 times usage. Great video! Like most people are mentioning the cons of using Head & Shoulders, i agree...most shampoos and body washes are like detergents. I purchase almost everything from www.amway.ca/naturehop I have their membership and therefore I get to have my own site! Register yourself as a customer and shop away! I use their products for myself and my kids as they are safe, gentle, healthy, and effective.

Lori Eakin: Water softening filters for showers. Just in case you have hard water in your area. Reduces hair fall out, oilyness, and frizzyness. Oh, and scalp itchyness too. Plus your skin won't feel as dry in the winter.

amerryatheist: I had a very very dry scalp that got irritated when I shampooed. I found that the ginger scalp care shampoo from the body shop helped a lot. I never get an itchy scalp with it. Definitely recommend trying it out :)

Nixe Lyte: If you want to get the oil off easier you could try mixing it with another oil like a carrier oil, for instance argan oil? Also using too much castor oil will cause the opposite effect, a little goes a long way. Less is more here ❤ I'm also on a hair growth and strengthening journey so good luck to everyone else who is also doing the same!!

Mary Ann: Please let us know how it goes several months after starting and thank you for the close up shots. It's lots of work and much appreciated!

Simran Mehra: I love how honest this video is! Excellent review!

Olivia J: I would recommend trying a more natural shampoo! I used head n shoulders for years and had horrible dandruff thinking that it was helping, I've switched shampoos for the last year and my scalp is so much healthier and no longer too dry/oily. (I used Lush shampoo/conditioner bars and Neutrogena tgel!)

kittycatdude: If you haven't already tried it, Henna is a great option to make your hair feel thick and healthy. It comes in a bunch of reddish brown shades or even black (although the black one could contain a certain ingredient which you should avoid). Since you already have dark hair the color wouldn't show up too much and therefore shouldn't be a huge concern. More importantly if you do try it out, make sure to use a brand that is all natural and uses 100% henna and or cassia plant. I did it a while ago and It's made my hair feel and look noticeably thicker and glossy.

Sheena M: A friend literally asked me today about her hair thinning. I will be sharing this video with her :)

Chelsea Mercer: Thank you so much for this video. I have a lovely copper color, but also have thin fine hair. Would love to help make it thicker without costly products. Castor oil is a great inexpensive option and I already use it on my lashes so I’ll try it on my hair

Tina Tomato: Ok guys, ok! I've heard you loud and clear, I will stop using H&S on my hair. I will use it to clean my windows instead

Vitta: I use castor oil in my organic coconut shampoo and the results are amazing. Now my hair is growing strong and beautiful

Nicholas Y: From my experience you gotta use it constantly for about 2 months, thats when you see the difference. I used this on my baby hairs, and it got thicker and more are growing out. Another is eating foods that will help, like eggs, almonds and fish. Another is washing in cold water. My brother has gotten bald due to this thyroid and he did this for a month and his hair grew back.

Stoudy2: I use boar brush to prevent my hair from tugging and it distributes oil very nicely! I just bought some Castor oil my hair has thinned over the past few years so real excited to try this out! I want my wavy Jim Morrison like hair back!

Julia Chesters: Excellent video on the benifits of Castor oil application! I have used organic Castor oil for my fine spiky hair! Castor oil certainly makes a difference even short term! It leaves my hair strands stronger and the thickness definitely improves and with new growth! Thank you.

CalBarrier, LLC: Thank you for this video. Very through and giving explanations as to the “whys” of things helps us viewers understand better.

CasaLandego: I would not wash the hair every day ( yes it is hard but now is the perfect time to train the scalp) Switch shampoo, and add in scalp massage. I have thin hair. Have finally trained my scalp and consistently added massaging. Now is time to try the oil. Great video idea. I should document how it affects my hair!!

Julienne 90: Great video! But there is a better way to wash out any oil : Use conditioner instead of shampoo!in most conditioners are ingredients, which sort of connect to the oil, so it washes out easier. After that you can use a small amount of shampoo to get rid of any rest of the oil.

Yalda Yazarlou: your hair really does look so much thicker and healthier! I love it!!

Louise Walker: I mix Indian sesame oil and some essential oils - lavender, rose geranium, peppermint, tea tree, lime, orange, grapefruit, clary sage etc and use it approx once a week. With a stressful divorce and move to the other side of the country over the last 10 years my hair went grey and then thinned left & right. The grey and thinning recovered on the right and now the oil mix is fixing the very thin spot on the left. : ) Stick with it.

Private: We need an update! Have you continued to use castor oil in your hair? If so, what's the ongoing experience been like?

Diana Dikhamindzhiya: Your hair grew so much!! Impressive results in my opinion!

Honey ♡︎: I just bought organic Unrefined Castor Oil & I’m about to use it on my scalp for the second time. I have a lot of hair loss around my hairline, so I’m going to focus on growing hair there. I’ll update this post to tell you all if it has worked!

Kristen Kuruugaa: I used castor oil on the tails of my eyebrows and it made them grow in (they were soooo sparse and I am blonde so...invisible). I use it in my hair dye mix too and it moisturizes the hair and makes it easier to wash out the henna. I know a couple women from Pakistan and they do oil treatments but mix castor, olive, vitamin E, mustard seed oils together. I think I will try doing this overnight before my days off

Reason: If you are a born blondie like me, user be aware. Jamaican castor is a wonderful product but...it will definitely darken your hair. The Jamaican type of castor oil has the most wood ash in it, which is the ingredient difference from other castor oils, and the reason behind it being the most effective.

Triple G: Oh wow! I was just about to put some on my eyelashes but decided to check first. So on my Jamaican black castor oil it says in bold print to keep away from eyes and if eye contact was made, to rinse thoroughly. So glad I listened to the voice in my head. Don't want to damage them, they're irreplaceable.

Dream With Intent (Sonali Ankola): To maintain my long hair I make my own mixture of different oils. Castor oil definitely has helped.

Tanya Parker: I use castor oil most of the times mixed with another solution of oils that I created. Agree your hair looks to have volume after 30 days if all is equal. Great job hair needs the right oil combination #teamcastoroil. Depends on how aggressive you want to see the difference long term would work it either once a week for your hair type and twice a month for mine.

Megan Grant: Super interesting and loved how you made it into a real experiment. Thank you!

Jazzy: Great stuff! I love your systematic approach to this issue

Trez Cast: I’ve tried castor oil on my fine hair before. It’s too thick and it just didn’t work for me. My hair was oily even after shampooing twice. It was a terrible week, I lost more hair than usual and just hated it overall. I really wish this worked for me though

L.A. Murals with Tammy Official: I love your video! I am watching because I have recently for the first time been experiencing unusual hair shedding/loss. I am 46 years old, so I'm not sure if it's due to age, hormones, or the use of new hair products that have caused protein overload in my hair. I'm also vegan so I'm not sure if I'm protein or B-12 deficient (I don't think so though). I have never tried using castor oil on my scalp, so I'm going to give it try! I appreciate your use of the scalp magnifier; very insightful! Thank you.

Emily Night: For those of you who frequently apply oil to your hair, do you have the oil go into the drain? I’m worried it will clog the pipes eventually.

Anothervictim87 crushed: Head and shoulders is the worse shampoo for your scalp.

Amanda Garcia: To be honest with you, your hair is VERY! BEAUTIFUL!!! ......so healthy and naturally thick and shiny. Thank you for demonstrating castor oil:-)

rachana s: Just apply it for a few days and leave it on. You don't have to wash it immediately the next day. Once you have the growth, then you can apply it just once a week. Also do not use shampoo. Just use a paste made from Fenugreek seeds and black chickpeas and use that to wash off your hair.

Priya Dharmalingam: Yes. Castor oil really works. Since I use bun amd pony tail daily, my forehead hair started falling off and it literally looked like bald . My frds started pointing out. And yeah, then I started applying castor oil (mix with coconut oil/almond/olive) daily before I go to bed, massage well. Seriously it's working dude. U can try % Note: stop using shampoo. Go for mild shampoo.

Xolani Lushaba: Also use onion juice, aloe vera gel, mix tea tree oil with castor oil/extra virgin olive oil & rice water Use a silk or satin pillow case

Nikki Mason: Your hair definitely looks fuller and healthier! How awesome! I have used castor oil before...about 5 times. I find it so hard to wash out! I’ve done 3 washes and it still stays in! Maybe I should mix the castor oil with a carrier oil so it’s not so think in my hair.

kala douglas: I love how you gave us a step by step. Amazing!! Thank you so much for sharing.

YeahThisIsLife: I used castor oil on my eyelashes because they'd started falling out - I'd been using a cheap drugstore mascara for a couple years and my eyelashes just couldn't handle it. I switched to a sensitive lash mascara (still drugstore! you don't have to break the bank) and started using castor oil on my lashes 3-4 nights a week. My lashes didn't grow to insane lengths or anything but they stopped falling out and I haven't had a problem since then! I highly recommend it for strengthening eyelashes, especially if you wear makeup. Thanks for such an informative video!

Shea Soaps by Lara: Nice improvement! Wear a satin bonnet and/or satin pillowcase when you sleep. Some essential oils could also be beneficial for your scalp. Also, look into rice water rinses. Have an awesome day!

Blanca Solivan-Mattos: I was reading about castor oil for hair growth. Cold pressed organic castor oil is better than the black castor oil because the process of retrieving the black castor oil is heat.

Naimah Ouafi: Omg why is it so satisfying looking at your scalp? haha. I'm so getting this magnifier! Great video, thanks! I'm on day 1 of my castor oil in hair journey! You can defo see the length growth and thickness growth in your hair - looks great! :)

MideaMusic: I don't know about hair, but I do know from own experience and also from my friend's experience that if you put castor oil on your eyelashes ( with clean mascara brush) every single evening before bed and leave it on, in around 1 month time your eyelashes will become really long and beautiful and will look like false eyelashes, as they will be so long.

Caroline marks: Take Biotin for great results. I’ve grown new layers of hair at 60 and we’ve finally convinced my friend’s daughter, who was virtually bald and very depressed, to take it. She now has hair. It’s cheap and the tablets are tiny. No mess. Also get your iron levels checked, a lot of young women don’t eat red meat these days and that can contribute to the problem. It’s really what you put in your body that helps. Pale skin and dull eyes can indicate deficiencies. Your inside health shows in your skin and hair. Young women should have glowing skin and bright eyes, if they don’t then they’re lacking nutrients.

Rachel A: My daughters scalp and hair are extremely dry. I use black Castrol oil on her hair after washing it and I use it generously. Her hair stays greasy for about 3 days but after that her hair looks normal from day 3-7. Her doctor recommended I only wash her hair once per week. (If she gets super dirty or needs it of course I wash her hair more) My daughters hair has grown about 4 inches since I started using it last year. She also takes a biotin and cologan gummy bear every day. I forgot the brand of the gummy but it’s one of the cheapest ones in store at target.

IdolEyes84: Thanks for trying this, my hair type is similar to yours (I just use normal shampoo and conditioner every night, occasionally coconut oil in the ends). I'm trying to lower my hairline. I don't want a fringe, I'm just trying to get my baby hairs to grow straight horizontally on the top of my forehead to make my forehead look smaller (trying to get the baby hair and upper eyebrow hair thinker and darker). I want to try and apply the caster oil to my hair line for an hour at night before a shower and see if that works. I have also heard that biotin oil drops (oral and hair supplements) can make hair grow longer and thinker. Has anyone had experience as I just want my hair, eyebrows and lashes to become thicker, I don't want hair like on my legs to grow quicker ( I will have to shave my legs more often). Also is it ok to use caster oil on oily/acne prone and sensitive skin? Thank you.

Melina Sasha: When I was a lot younger I tried castor oil on my eyelashes and it worked ! They grew thicker and longer.

moon: Definitely use a satin pillow case. The fibers of the towel can nag on your hair. Also make sure to not shampoo your hair everyday
