“Baller Status” By Breanna Rutter

This is breanna rutter from howtoblackhair.com and i'm going to be teaching you how to trim the ends of your natural hair. Now, when trimming your hair, it's very important that you're only using water to lubricate your hair when you're doing this process. The reason why is because, if you use conditioners or oils, that's going to give you a false read of how well the ends of your hair? Are you want to feel the ends to feel for damage? So only use water part out a very small section of hair and keeps clips to keep the other hairs out of the way and then detangle with a comb, with the widest teeth on down to the most narrow teeth. So that your section of hair is thoroughly detangled at this point, you are going to divide the hair into two parts and you are going to two strand twist. All the way to the end make sure that you're smoothing your hair as much as possible so that as you're not bunching hairs along the way. Inside of your twist. Your twist is consistently smooth and, even as you are twisting pay very close attention to the texture and feel of your hair, you will notice that the roots are a lot more smoother and then, as you reach, your certain point, you're going to start to fill up. Coarseness now, if your hair is coarse, it should feel consistently the same coarseness from the roots to the ends, but if it does not, that's where you can see where the damage is at by feel so when cutting split is this is literally the amount of hair You are going to be cutting. You are not going to cut large portions of hair, so you don't have to worry about having uneven hair if you are doing this technique consistently and following the directions so for a second time, you're going to make sure to take down your twist again, detangle again And retwist again, the reason why I suggest, as a second time is because if you miss any ends that were inconsistent or damaged or split, you can feel them, as you re twist. The second time so make sure you're consistently two strand twisting all the way to the ends and keep it elongated and feel along your twist for any inconsistencies so now to snip off that very little end. That'S where the rest of your damage is and then always feel through your twist to see how it feels now. You may think this is too much manipulation, but it's actually not because you want to free those damaged ends and not leave any more behind or any splinters behind. Now, at this point, you're just going to create a bantu knot with your wet hair and you're going to move on to the next section. I only suggest doing this technique on natural hair. If you only need to trim split it, if you actually need more of a trim where you're going to be cutting off a half an inch or 1/4 inch or more, then I suggest that you visit a stylist so that way they can assist you in this Process, but if you only need to trim the very ends such as split ends or coarse, damaged, ends over time for manipulation, and things like that, you can simply do this on your own, just two strands: small squares of hair and then, as your two strand twisting Be very conscious as to hair, your hair feels inconsistency, and if you notice the ends, don't feel as good as the roots or mid-shaft of your hair. That'S where you're going to trim! So after it's all said and done, it's just very little coils of hair that I had to cut off now at this point, you're going to use oil to help you unravel your hair, not so just that you're using oil when you're taking down your bantu knots, Because this makes them a little bit more shiny and it also locks in the moisture, especially if your hair is still a little bit damp now, as you can see, this is the finished results after you've trim the ends of your natural hair. Now I also suggest that you do this as well with transitioning, hair or relaxed hair, if you're only going to trim off literally the very tips of your hair. But if you need more of an intensive cut, I will suggest that you visit a stylist for that. But for trimming your ends is as simple as that, thanks for watching and for updates on future hair styling tutorials follow me on instagram at breanna rutter

Nesha Britwood: Doesn't matter how many time I watch videos on how to trim hair, I am still gonna be too scared to clip mine.

rainbowbrite621: Yesssss!!! I need my ends trimmed big time!! This video is just what I needed!!

rashida7777: Thank you so VERY much... I did it! I don't have to worry about beauticians cutting into my new growth. I have 4b hair and finally grew my hair to beneath my shoulders without a beautician's help. I did what you said but used larger squares. I also sealed the nearly cut ends to keep them from going into shock, I learned this from my old stylist, Love ya Ms. MARIA! My gf who is going to beauty school wants to cut my hair and to perm it so badly. I don't think so! Last year another lady cut NOT trimmed 4 yes FOUR INCHES off my hair! AND gapped it up. AFTER I stressed a trim. Just because people say they know how to cut and trim natural hair ...doesn't mean they do. BTW this lady was a Black American. The beautician that told me about doing something similar to what your vid is teaching was an older Latina from Mexico with bone straight hair that didn't speak a lick of English. But d@mn could she cut my fro. She used only shears and said to come no more than every 6 months. Again she did what you did..but she called it a "snip". Far less than even a trim. All the Black women that went to her regularly had long hair. Including those with 5DDD hair, lol! I only went to her to get hair washes and deep natural conditioning. She only worked on natural Black hair and refused to put a perm on them. I hated when she moved out of state.

It's Me, Ashley: My friend does the same thing!!! After I trimmed my hair she showed me this method and I will for sure do this!! Definitely confirmation:)

Day Hop: Thank you for uploading this video! The lady that does my hair would always trim off a lot and not as small as you do. Now I can do it right, myself. Thank you again!

Nadia Zoe: I needed this 24hrs ago. I trimmed my hair yesterday but I took a whole lot off. I didn't twist it 1st either. I combed then tried to smooth it out with my fingers then chunk the end off.

松原健人: thank you so much for this, i grew up with my mom not teaching me how to work with my hair nor how to do my own hair or wash my 4d hair. this was helpful

LeeArmani101: Better to trim on 'dry' hair. You will trim more than you think due to shrinkage.

J.Rashad Banks: Thank you so much. I'm a year into my journey and I didn't want to go to a barber and this helped so much

Blerple Perple: I was so going to do this same method weeks ago, but then I decided to just blow dry it out and cut what I thought were dead ends. Turned out that I didn't do it right and cut off like two inches of hair for nothing. I did mini twists the following day after the trim and still felt rough ends. I used salon grade shears, but I'm not sure what went wrong. =/

Beyonce's Child: Thanks! I never trimmed my ends and I thought I would have to straighten it (scary!) in order to do so.

Mpho Motitsoe: Thank you.. Im in South Africa and currently transitioning to natural hair.. i love your videos bcoz i learn alot.

Rissa Cameron: should you trim your hair before washing it or after washing it?

Rushina Brown: Thanks. I'm that scared as I am again. Other videos people are clipping too much of their hair. Thank you for this video. I appreciate this video

Shanice: This would take forever to do

Shan Marcell: One of the best tutorials! thxs!

Lauryn Chandler: I cut two inches off every time I been over cutting great

Chamira Elaine: What products do you use for your Bantu Knots?

Jacqueline Troy: I have a question, I have fine hair but my end are thicker than my roots. I have been natural for about 4 years. Does that mean my ends are damaged? I have been cutting my ends but I don't if its just my hair texture or what? I need help!!!!

Amber S.: It would take me 40 days and 40 nights to do that on all of this hair.

Still Looking: Is it ok if my hair is stretched?

G.DoloresPlants: Thank you for that tip. God bless you.

Anon0218: I do this but I always feel like I cut my split ends but it never grows..

H0UDINNE: Question! Will this help your hair grow and half of my hair is longer than the other half, so can anyone give me tips on how to fix that or should I just go to a professional?

The Usually Quiet Scorpio: Way to much....I'll just pay to get my ends trimmed! Lol

Visy Visy TV: Thanks for the information. It's a lot of work that's for sure. Necessary though!

Paris-Riana Campbell: i should of watched this before i cut inches off my hair

Floridian King: How often do you cut your split ends

Sweet Pea: This to much for me but nice video.

I am Joy: So much of my hair is split

Angela: Using just the fingers, no comb, to separate hairs is best.

Erica Asjaee: I think you heard me asking people totrim my hair & getting rejected lol . I need to do this after I take my braids out so I cant get rid of my split ends & get them done over . But can I shampoo my hair then do this & condition it or do I just wet it do this then wash ?

Brandi Eddy: Thank you

love lost: Did you start over being natural i thought you relaxed hair?

natural_ hair_jai: I like this

Kyesha Carter: My mom won't buy me scissors. I have single strand knots and split ends i have to end up tearing them out because she refuses to get me scissors. What do i do?
